Through the eyes of me as a kid: I remember that when I has a kid I misunderstood a lot of things. I thought that the Arby's sign looked like a the silhouette of a dark orange dolphin coming out of the water instead of a tall hat. "What does an orange dolphin have to do with sandwiches?" I wondered. Also I thought that the Goodyear logo, which in reality is a tire with wings, was a white cardinal head. That was also confusing. I guess it's because I had a good imagination or maybe just bad eyesight.
Why we are mean to our parents: I think we are mean to our parents because they can't stop being our parents. Thie is unlike the relationship with a friend, who could leave if you were mean to him/her. If our parents could leave anytime they wanted, we probably would not be mean to them.
Healthy Choice?: Well after eating much food in my life, I've realized something. With all the "Low-fat," "99% fat free," and "Fat Free" labels on food, you begin to wonder. How could there be a growing number of overweight people in America? Well these foods don't seem to be working because it seems people are thinking, "Hey this is 'less fat' so I can eat a lot more of it." So they do eat a lot, which adds up to the same amount as if it was regular amount of fat. Not only that, but they take in more calories. In those foods, what is the compensation for fat? Fat is flavor... if you think about it, most fattening foods taste good because of their fat. Food makers solve their problem by adding tons of salt. Look on the "Sodium" in the "Nutrition Facts" of any low-fat food. I guarantee you that there is also a high amount (% Daily Value) of sodium. Obviously if the food is "naturally" low in fat, it will have low sodium, but mainly I'm talking about the foods which are processed (which probably accounts for about 90% of the foods I eat).
Makes a difference: At school the way people talk with you makes a difference in how you act for the rest of the day. If you think about it... let's say you start off the day with an argument, then you feel mad for most of the day. Or if you start out your day with a good conversion with someone it kind of makes your day. I like it when people are nice for a change. (It's especially effective from people who you don't normally talk to.)
God's voice: I've often wondered about hearing God sometimes. What would he say? Then I finally realized something that the Bible has most of what He would say. Think about it, it's like our parents. They tell us the same things over and over. Similarly, the Word is all we need. Interesting thoughts, huh?
Some homilies... if you can call them that.
- When you get right down to it, most inventions are driven by laziness.
- With almost every invention created to solve a problem, another problem is created.
- Just because it's cheap doesn't mean it's good.
- It's not whether you win or lose it's that you're just playing a game.
