Poem Our Baptist Roots Let us not forsake our roots The foundation of our faith "The rock from whence we’re hewn"(Isa. 51:1b) By God’s own Saving Grace.
Why have we been so despised Across the years of time When dungeons oft, our dwelling place So many in their prime? They called us many, many names But we were not ashamed We bore the guilt as heretic And martyred in their flames. "Anabaptist" we were called back then And so we are today We wade out in the waters deep It’s "here" we plan to stay. "Obedience" to our Lord’s command We follow at His call We will not compromise our stand We welcome one and all. "Closed Communionist" we are called We mean no disrespect For all who follow "obediently" * We would not dare neglect. (*In believer’s baptism by immersion) |
