Mercy, a Christmas Gift

"Mercy" is that gift from heaven

That can be shared with all mankind

If only we could know it’s meaning

Though it should not be hard to find.

The laws of man know not its teaching

Nor does it seek to understand

"This is the Law" so often spoken

But mercy makes no such demands.

For mercy seeks to know the heartaches

And the troubles of the soul

Like the mighty grace of heaven

The Christmas story so often told.

It’s the deepest of all the fountains

Flowing from the throne of God

Mercy, Love, the grace of giving

Should show daily in our love.

Deeper than the deepest oceans

All of space cannot contain

Mercy knows no limitations

Given freely in His Name.

It’s the message of salvation

Wrought for man upon the cross

Without mercy, there is no pardon

All of life would then be lost.

Heaven’s Mercy ever falling

O’er my soul from up above

O, the mercy of salvation

As the mercy of your love.
