Poem Hope! Hope is the helmet of our salvation Like faith, it waits expectantly For that for which we hope is not seen Yet that which is not seen is our possession. This treasure, this thing that we do see not We now possess as surely as life Waiting for our possession, reserved for us now And that which is but hope now, is ours then!. Why do we then doubt and faint alone the way As if we do not now possess that for which we wait? Oh, but that which is seen is not hope Yet, we with patience wait for it. Doubt is the enemy of our hope For we "walk be faith and not by sight," So we wait, not as those who are hopeless But with the blessed assurance that our hope is eternal. For hope is not a question, but an exclamation Not a doubt, but an assurance A treasure more precious than gold. So we wait, it is our inheritance! Dr. Hoyte E Nelson Slidell, la. |
