Poem Gambling Taxes, Evil? According to the campaign advertisement promoting gambling in the recent election, taxes are evil and gambling is good. Gambling does provide some jobs, but so does the economy when the same money, channeled through regular business channels, etc. On the other hand so much of the dollar is forever lost to the economy.when it is lost to the gambling industry. It may seem like a quick fix to the job market; it also seems like a quick-fix to those who return day after day trying to win back that which they have lost until all that they can muster is forever gone and they have lost all that they possess..Taxes may be burdensome, but taxes will never take all that one has. Taxes is the equable system whereby we the citizens provide the resources for the things that we collectively need for the good of all.Taxes will never destroy a family;Wreck lives; send children to bed hungry, etc. Taxes ,evil, surely not?. It is interesting that people who have lost all that they have never return to the gambling industry to ask for food for their families, but to the churches and charitable organizations of the community. Futhermore, all that the gambling industry returns to the economy is from someone’s loss. Always, someone’s loss, and that is one of the sad things about gamblings. All that the industry returns to the winners is money that someone has lost. No one earns a winning ticket, but someone has lost their earning in the hope of winning. ""Thy shalt not covet..."is a commandment of God. "Fear God, keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man." Ecc. 12:13b
Gambling??? Why should I wish to take That which I have not earned; Or covet my neighbor's loss What ere might be the gain? Is that the golden rule By which I stand the test; To take the loss of others As though it were my best! All that I might now gain Someone has surely lost; Who could not ill afford; Did I not count the cost? For millions, it’s a "compulsion" An "addiction" if you please; It’s bread from off the table And families on their knees. The cry from broken families When there’s none else to "play" It’s Mom’s and the children For they’re the ones who pay. God’s commandments ever sure, When men reap what they sow; "Thou shall not covet thy neighbors..." This much we surely know! |
