God's Christmas Gift

On a solitary hillside

In a place called Galilee

Mary stood in awe and wonder

For she truly could not see.

As the Spirit came upon her

Mary could not understand

How the Triune God of heaven

Could become a lowly man.

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

Were all present, though as One

When God chose this blessed virgin

The earthly mother of His Son.

Born the Son of His Father

Who "over shadowed" her that day

And "the power of the Highest"

In this high and holy way.

As this blessed gift of heaven

He was born on Christmas day

In a manger where she laid Him

And His bed was made of hay.

So the "Word" of all creation

God "Incarnate" became a man

Paid the price of sin forever

God's eternal, redemptive plan!
