Poem Changing Times How long will it be, how long will it be, To enter God’s house, it will cost us a fee; In the name of praise, have we opened the door, Trying to out do the world, and a little bit more. When the tempo of our music determines what we do; Where to clap our hands or pat our shoe; Yes, the music is so beautiful, but often so out of place, Can we substitute loudness for redeeming grace? The performing arts have now become the way. Once the old meeting house was the place to pray. In the name of "contemporary" This is what they say, Is it gold or silver, or a pile of hay? At the judgment seat of Christ, will we stand the test, Can I truly say: yea, this was my best. Have we left our children, the standard high? Will the question be asked, Oh why, Oh why? |
