Essay “We Beheld His Glory” “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,
and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full
of grace and truth” (John 1: 14). When we Christians think of the
word “glory,” we naturally turn our thoughts toward heaven, but on that day,
the “glory” that came down to this old sin cursed earth and lay crying in
manger with blood on HIS face --- later, to die on an old rugged cross for our
sins; that we might be saved, and this is why we sing, “Glory! Glory! Glory! The Word that spoke all
creation into being, “In the beginning” was now coming to share His glory in
the likeness of sinful flesh in order
that we might understand who God really is: The glory of all creation, saying,
“Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for such is
the kingdom of heaven: And so we sing, Glory! Glory! Glory! Truly there is a Celestial
glory for beyond our imagination, and a terrestrial glory that we behold day
after day (1 Corinthians 15); yet, there is another glory that we often over
look. It my be the grave of the Unknown Soldier who gave up his life for a
country that he called home, but the glory that was seen on that day when God
clothed Himself in human flesh – lying in a Manger with blood on His face,
exceeds all glory for time and eternity. This is THE Glory! |
