the opening season was a tough year for us. we finished 11th place, though we bounced back to win consolation playoffs.. the competition was stiff but our main goal was to make the playoffs and we didn't even come close.. DISAPPOINTMENT. ..but it was a learning experience and we took notes from succesful teams like the champ Astros, the Twins, Lbc and Fresno Reds.. watch out in 05!

April 29th - its been a hard week in Van Cortlandt.. Kearns broke his forearm. Pitching hopefull Jorge DePaula is out for over a year, Towers sent to the minors, Fox is struggling hard and now DL, Leskanic can't save a game anymore, Riley got his face bashed in...just about every pitcher not named Beckett is dropping like flies. to make matters worse, i fell asleep on big-time waivers Adrian Gonzalez and Chad Tracy. with the Prospect Draft approaching, i'm contemplating using #2 priority on Kazuhito Tadano in an attempt to cure a failing bullpen ... it also might help to get this priority monkey off my back, its done more harm then good

2/29/04 DRAFT REPORT .... Draft day is over! i'm pretty happy with how my team came out. The average age is 26.. and I feel I achieved my main goal of securing a good infield within the first 10 rounds... theres also some question marks - like mike young's ss eligibility. IF he remains only 2b, he most likely becomes trade-able. also, my team has some health issues, no closer, and a weak pitching staff in general.. but i'm glad i got some potential young arms.. hopefully, by 2005 they can grow into something better. ...... as for other teams,.. nymets and houston astros i think did the best. (nymets i feel got the best 3-some Beltran/Sexson/Huff) and houston seems to have a similar strategy as mine, yet he executed much better i think - he landed huge bats like Helton + Boone but also managed to get a hold of Miguel Cabrera, Mark Texiera, Andruw Jones, Angel Berroa, and Nick Johnson??! wow.. Astros is my week 1 opponent and i'm not looking forward to it.... it'll be fun, but he should kick the snot out of me
2/26/04 draft in 2 DAYS.. finally focused in on 4 or so possible players for the first 2 rounds, but not sure what will happen after that.. getting nervous..
2/16/04 the real yankees traded Alfonso Soriano to the rangers for Alex Rodriguez.. is it the biggest trade ever??! ..will it effect the draft? ..we think the rangers did better because it frees up $$$ so they can finally get pitching..
