| Wings Fall to Cobras in OT Tuesday November 25, 2003 WARMINSTER (AP) - In a game filled with more controversy than a Michael Moore movie, the Wings gained an important point in the standings but yet, still feel comewhat unhappy with the result. The 1st period saw the Wings down early 1-0, on an oddly deflected goal, despite outshooting the Cobras. But the team fought back in the 2nd, with two short-handed goals on the same power play no less by Greg Kliniewski and Greg Falcone just :24 seconds apart, and finished the period deadlocked at 2. In the 3rd period controversy strcuk as an apparent goal by Alex Deveraux was ignored by the winded (and seemingly overwhelmed) lone referee of the game. The Cobras then scored on the very same shift to go up 3-2 midway through the period. All hell almost broke loose at this point. But despite all this, the Wings didnt feel sorry for themselves, and with just :27 seconds on the clock and the goalie pulled, the Wings tied the game on a goal by Jason Falcone and guaranteed themselves a point in the standings. Overtime was over in no time at all as the Cobras scored just 1:50 into the period on yet another deflected shot, but all in all it was a game that the Wings can away with a lot of positives from. A point in the standings, coming back in the final seconds against an A Division team is definitely a step in the right direction for this club. Goalie Dave Grey stopped 22 of 26 shots in the overtime loss. BOX SCORE |
