| Wings Down Stingrays for First Win Saturday November 15, 2003 PENNSAUKEN (AP) - It was just a matter of time before the Wings put together a complete game this season, and on Saturday night it happened in a big way. In what was overall a pretty physical game, against a usually chippy Stingrays team, the Wings let their skills do the talking with a solid 5-2 victory. Jason Falcone opened up the scoring half way through the 1st period, and George Cooper followed that up with another goal less than a minute later. The Wings seemed to get a little tentative after getting the early lead, and let the Stingrays back in the game by giving up 2 goals in just over a minute, and the game was tied at 2 at the end of the 1st. In a hard fought second period, the Wings took advantage of two double minors on the Rays, and Justin Hayes buried a power play goal on a somewhat awkward feed from Mick McManus, which turned out to be the eventual game winner. The 3rd period saw the Wings continue their up tempo play, and Clay Alt scored two goals in a 13 second span, to seal the deal. Goalie Dave Gray stopped 20 of 22 shots to get his first win on the season. BOX SCORE |
