| Wings Fall to Wildmen 6-2 Sunday October 26, 2003 WARRINGTON (AP) - In Game # 3 of this young 2003-04 season, the Wings went up against the Wharton (A) Wildmen, one of the better A division teams in HNA. The Wings hung tough early in this one with a first period goal from Rick Thomas, his 3rd on the season, and we're tied at the end of the first period 1-1. Wharton (A) however, got the upper hand in the second period. Aided by some questionable penalty calls, the Wildmen scored 3 goals, 1 on the power play, on just 7 shots, and the Wings were held scoreless. , despite having a number of chances on the power play of their own. The rash of penalties contnued into the 3rd period, with 4 more man advantages given to the Wildmen, which lead to another power play goal, and one just barely at even strength. Brian Teufel added a late goal for the Wings, his first career tally, to finish out the scoring, but when all was said and done, the Wildmen had a 6-2 victory. Despite the outcome, the team, with many new faces, looks to be geling a bit more, and seems to be getting more of a feel for playing with one another. Goalie Dave Gray stopped 18 of 24 shots in the loss. BOX SCORE |
