| Wings Tie Stingrays 3-3 Tuesday October 21, 2003 WARRINGTON (AP) - After a week off from their opening game against the Stars, the Wings took the ice against the Stingrays last night at Face-Off Circle. The game, while a bit more offensive, and chippy for that matter, had the same outcome as game 1... a tie. The Wings had leads of 2-0, and 3-2 in this game before winding up in the 3-3 deadlock. This may be more of a product of the team still learning about each other, as well as their opponents. Rick Thomas staked the Wings to the afore mentioned 2-0 in the second period with two goals just 44 seconds apart, one on the power play. However, the Stingrays fought back to knot the score at 2 by the end of the period. Alex Deveraux broke the tie with his first goal of the season 8 minutes into the 3rd period, but again the Stingrays answered, this time less than a minute later with George Cooper in the penalty box for a close line that look like it came out the movie "The Longest Yard". Overtime saw relatively few scoring chances, and the game ended tied at 3. Goalie Dave Gray played well in the tie, stopping 18 of 21 shots. The Wings now sit a 0-0-2 on the season. BOX SCORE |
