| Wings Open Season with 1-1 Tie Tuesday October 14, 2003 WARRINGTON (AP) - The Wings opened up the 20030-2004 season last night at Face-Off Circle against the division rival Stars. As with any new season, there is period of adjustement for any team, and last night was a good example of that. With a good portion of the roster either new players or players from the Gators, the Wings are still in the "getting to know you" phase after only two practices together. Despite that, the Wings played well, and showed that this team does have a lot of promoise for the upcoming season. After falling behind 1-0 towards the end of the 1st period, the Wings fought back through two tough periods, and Mark Hourican finally tied the score 2:17 into the 3rd period on a feed from co-captain, George Cooper. Overtime was rather uneventfu, though the Wings had a rare overtime power play opportunity. Goalie Dave Gray played well in his first game with the team, and was a big reason for the Wings getting a point in this one, stopping 25 of 26 shots, as the Wings were outshot 26-11 BOX SCORE |
