Friday January 16, 2003

OAKS (AP) -  After going through a 4 game stretch where seemingly every bounce went against them, the WIngs finally broke through, and reversed their fortunes last night. Everythng came together and most bounces seemed to be in their favor as the WIngs played one of their best games of the season, and beat the A-Division Cobras 7-3.
George Cooper and Jason Falcone each had two  goals, and Rich Forrest, Greg Falcone, and Ed Bobrin each chipped in with one.  The Wings jumped on top early and often having a 4-0 lead by the end of the first period. Dave Gray also made a number iof great saves to keep the Cobras off the board in the 1st.
After giving up a goal to the Cobras to open the scoring in  the 2nd period, the Wings added two more late in the period for a 6-1 lead after 2 periods.  The third period saw some pretty even play and even a few fist-de-cuffs with
Clay Alt mixing things up with the Cobras captain, but in the end the Wings held on for a 7-3 victory.
The Wings took 3 out of a possible 4 points againt their A-Division rivals, their best record against an A team this season.
Dave Gray made 28 of 31 saves in the win.
