HISTORY:

Claarijke Rackham has lived on a farm with her father and two brothers for 16 years. When her father died she and her brothers moved to a city by the coast. One of her brothers worked and went to college. her other brother choose ships and the sea but was lost. Claarijke initially went to look for him, but as results were negative she instead enlisted to sail on the cargo vessel "daughter of Dover" but since then has been looking for an other ship to serve. She once had a crush on a navy officer who walked by when the ship was in the harbor, but since she was dressed as a sailor even a long look would have been thought strange so she actually hasn't seen more than a glimpse of him, which she still regrets. she has the small hope of him walking by again, but it is not her main goal.

 

PERSONALLY:

Claarijke is a bit of a quiet girl, with a tendency to think badly of herself. She is adventurous, but whenever she has started an adventure she has to remind herself that it was a good idea and that she shouldn't quit. She likes company and would like her work on board to be appreciated. Claarijke would like to expand her knowledge of sailing and since she's only just started will accept to be ranked as ordinary sailor. She likes to learn, hates it when things go wrong but will try even harder the next time and will not be put down by the experience. She is patient, but can work really fast if necessary. She has never had much female company, but thinks of fitting in as a delightful challenge.

My profile
Claarijke is a good natured, bit-shy-around-the-guys-type girl, and that is why she likes being on board a ship with only women. She is smart enough, but doesn't always know how to use her brain... she is 25, 5'8" and likes the colour red. as long as it is not blood, at least not too much. She likes to hear the wind in the rigging and the smell of fresh-tarred rope... the prospect of decent food and nice company will make this special journey one never to
forget!

In battle:
She hopes she will live up to expectations and not die. She has never really fought before, but when death is on the line will (of course) try her best to survive... a little help from her fellow shipmates in learning how to fight would be very welcome

Meeting new people:
Claarijke is open to meet new people. She likes to at least find one person to 'bond' with, although not in a too girlish way, after all this is a RN ship. There must be order. She can get along with most people well enough, even if she does not particularly like them she can work with them professionally; unless they turn out to be a pain in the butt from the start.

Being with a man alone:
Claarijke let that pass away some time ago. She will not discredit herself and will not meet a man this way. She might one day meet a good man and they will meet in a proper way (for example a debutante ball or something with just as much spectators but a bit less fancy)

HISTORY: Claarijke Rackham has lived on a farm with her father, Jack and two brothers, Thomas and Peter for 16 years. When her father died she and her brothers moved to a city by the coast. She lived there for 3 years and thougt it was great fun. She loved the sea air that made everything fresh.

Her eldest brother, Thomas worked in a bakery and went to college when he had saved enough money. Her younger brother Peter chose for a life at sea but was lost in a storm.

Claarijke initially went to look for him on the shore where parts of ship wrecks were washed ashore, but as results were negative she instead enlisted to sail on the cargo vessel "daughter of Dover" to forget about home, where her father had become a drunk after the news of his younger son being lost and his eldest son far away in the city.

Claarijke has since then been looking for another ship to serve.

She once had a crush on a navy officer who walked by when the ship she served on was in the harbour, but since she was dressed as a sailor (trousers and dirty blouse, you get the idea) even a long look would have been thought strange so she actually hasn't seen more than a glimpse of him, which she still regrets. She has the small hope of him walking by again in his dashing uniform, but it is not her main goal to look for him and get distracted when there is work to do on this journey.

PERSONALLY: Claarijke is a bit of a quiet girl, with a tendency to think badly of herself, partly because her father started to shout a her after both her brothers went away. She is an adventurous girl however, but whenever she has started an adventure she has to remind herself that it was a good idea and that she should follow it through. The discipline on board the ships she has served on (the "Daughter of Dover" and the "Dancing Dolphin") has helped her to not look back on a decision but first follow orders. She likes company and would like her work on board to be appreciated. Claarijke would like to expand her knowledge and would very much enjoy to learn as much as possible from her captain and her fellow officers. She hates it when things go wrong but will try even harder the next time and will not be put down by the experience. She is patient, but can work really fast if necessary. She has never had much female company, but thinks of fitting in as a delightful challenge.
