Introduction
Hello! My name
is Heidi McGree and I am from Butte, Montana. I am currently
student teaching in Helena, Montana. Right now I am in a first-grade classroom
and absolutely love it! I have had many wonderful opportunities to interact
with children through the MSU teaching program. I was able to become a
START volunteer where I was given the chance to read with a second grader three
times a week and I also taught computers to the students at Whittier Elementary
School. I also spent most of my senior year being a Para in K-8 grade
classrooms. Not only have I taught elementary students, I have refereed junior
high volleyball and have substituted in the junior high school. All of these
experiences have given me insight on the best teaching styles and lesson plans
to use while in the classroom.
Philosophy
The type of teaching I
plan on using in my future classroom is authoritative. An authoritative
teacher is one who will establish limits and explain the reasons for these
certain restrictions. These type of teachers encourage students to set
goals for themselves. One of my own goals is to become a teacher who is
kind, patient, and understanding.
