Concrete roughness measurement
Concrete roughness is an important measurement during concrete repairing
process. There are many devices working in industry which measure concrete
roughness. Laser based devices are worldwide developed and applied.
A different strategy is the use of mechanical devices which are more dust robust and
cheap than laser born detectors.
For laboratory purposes we create mechanical devices for concrete roughness,
which detect the contour of the surface. Then an image processing system
will help to transform the signal into the computer memory for precise
evaluation. The system is robust, cheap and does not require complex
calibration. User friendly software will calculate and evaluate the data instantly.
The method is perfect for laboratory measurements.

Mechanical device for copying the concrete profiles
The mechanical device is constructed to copy the surface using many pins
with diameter 0.8mm. This device is dust robust and does not require any
calibration or special support. It can be applied on any surface and can
measure roughness up to 100mm with 1mm precision.
The image processing system includes VB programme for filtering and
evaluation of the data.

The initial picture is loaded into the system.
Filtration process is applied and results are produced in pixels.

The final result shows the same profile structure and can be evaluated in MS
Excel or any other system.
Also for more precise measurement, different features can be extracted
using large data representation structure.
