I think i'll go for a walk maybe out in the rain
Maybe let the tears roll down my face and not feel the pain
Maybe think about something maybe think about you
Yeah, you can hurt me now (you know you cant hurt me now)
You cant hold me down (and i got plenty of time)
Time to figure it out
Time to think about you and me whatever that was all about
Got nothing to prove, got nothing to say
No i guess i never thought you were good for me anyway
Got nothing to lose, nothing but you
The door burst open and Lita found herself being picked up and twirled about the room in crazy succession, a strong arm promptly wrapping around her waist when she stumbled as he set her down.
"Your the man, baby! Whooooo!" Flair's voice assaulted her senses from where she stood locked to Randy's side. She peered up at him to see his mouth quirk up to one side as he sent Flair a wink before his eyes lowered to meet her gaze.
"Take your eyeful, little girl," Flair continued. "Cause your looking at the number one contender soon to be the next World Champion! Whooooo!"
Lita allowed her eyes to fall on the old man who still stood in the doorway, taking in his flashing eyes and excited stance as he shifted from one foot to the next.
"That's right, Li." Randy smiled turning his back on Flair to roll his eyes knowingly at her. "I'm 'in' and Hunter's 'out'."
Lita's mouth turned up in a wide smile before she wrapped her arms around Randy, planting a kiss on his cheek before she pulling out of his arms. This is what she'd been wanting all along wasn't it? To throw Hunter off his throne, reduce him to the role of lowly commoner instead of the joke he had been living as champion.
She had imagined herself joining in on the celebration, drinking in a victory that little ole her had instigated from day one. Instead she found herself drawn away from the others, moving to busy herself in her bag that lay open on the bench while the others drank in the attention as Teri arrived with a camera crew for the after match interview.
Inwardly she knew she alone had not only reeked havoc among the ranks of Evolution, but she had effectively played the Game... and won.
Or had she?
I think i'll go for a ride till my memory fades
Roll down the windows and glide down seventy-five to the everglades
Maybe light up a joint take a walk on the moon
Yeah you cant reach me now (you know you cant touch me now)
You can hold me down (and i got plenty of time)
Time to figure it out
Time to think about you and me whatever that was all about
Got nothing to prove, got nothing to say
No i guess i never thought you were good for me anyway
Got nothing to lose, nothing but you
By the time Hunter had made his way back to the locker room, it was empty.
Wet towels left carelessly on the floor beside the shower and the smell of soap and shampoo the only evidence that the room had been occupied.
'So this was what betrayal felt like.' he thought as his own words registered in his brain. 'Huh! Betrayal!' his mind scoffed. 'You should be use to that, everyone you know has betrayed you at some stage in your life! What made you think this would be any different?'
He knew exactly what made this time different. Lita.
'To lose the World Championship Title was one thing but to lose it to an enemy at the hand of someone you trusted was another and then to come back to an empty locker room... he had hoped Lita...' His thoughts trailed off as he stared around the empty room, his expression downcast.
He knew he shouldn't be feeling how he was, he should be angry, hurt and mentally calling himself all kinds of a fool. He should be out for blood, beating anyone who came near him to a bloody pulp... yet all he felt was a great big void, a great big nothing.
He stepped into the shower and immediately her scent surrounded him, filling his nostrils, his mind and his groin. He still wanted her. She had left with the other's, her side had been chosen and yet he still wanted her! His hand lifted towards the faucet and he shivered involuntarily as the cold spray beat down on his already bruised flesh, wanting the icy spray to cool his heated groin and drown out the image of flaming red hair and smokey green eyes.
Something he doubted he would ever be free of.
Why did you have to be so unkind
Why do i have to be so inclined, to lose my mind
Well i got plenty of time
Time to figure it out
Time to think about you and me whatever that was all about
Got nothing to prove, got nothing to say
No i guess i never thought you were good for me anyway
Got nothing to lose, nothing but you
She didn't come to his hotel room that night.
In the back of his mind he knew she wouldn't. Yet he still sat up and waited for her soft tap, praying, hoping, willing her to come.
Tonight he had lost the World Championship Title, his Faction and his trust, but by god dont let him have lost Lita too.
The End
