In this trip, I have made many "First time", and they are the most valuable!!

and the below are some comments about the trip

If I have time, I will write more and in more details in the near future!!

Day 1 (15/1/2006)

Morning take off from HK International Airport to Singapore Changri Airport. When arrived, we five people along still haven't confirm the hostel, maybe that night we will not have places to sleep and need to sleep in the street! After that we went to Joo Chiat Road and finally we found a hotel call Hotel 81-Opera. This is a nice place as I think before. When I arrived there, it is about 1700 and all the shops nearby are closed, at first I think that Singapore is very hot and they may be closed because of too hot! After that, we settled down and went to the Orchard Road which is very similar to Hong Kong Nathan Road. However, we are disappointed because the road at 1800 just like 0000 in Kennedy Town!! Later we found that we are very stupid in Day 3 because we have walked toward the end of the Orchard Road in the first day! Then at that night we have done nothing and I only bought a cheap SIM cad for keeping contact with HK people! At about 2200 we got back to hotel, we can discover that the area near our hotel is very prosperous at night and all the shops are open! SHIT! All are pubs and we saw many "chicken" were finding their targets! This area just like MongKok in Hong Kong! Then we slept early that night and prepare for the trip tomorrow!

Day 2 (16/1/2006)

In the morning, we went to the area near City Hall and Parliment. The planning of this area is very very similar to the area near legislative council in Central. In Central, there are monument for the First and Second World War, a City Hall, Legislative Council ..... In Singapore, there is also a monument for the First and Second World War, a Supreme Court, the Parliment hoouse and the opera house Esplanade! Very similar to Hong Kong! First we do som sightseeing near these area, then we went to the muesum near these area. In Singapore, the muesum are very good, they are large and informative! We have visited two muesums and then we travelled to a place called Little India which is a place the Indian place live together. In Little India, there are many mosques, however we have do a visit since we don't know much about the Islam and we are afraid of violating the rules of them. We do some sightseeing and taste a lot of food there. First we come in to a curry shop, we try the curry chicken and they are not too spicy. Also I can really see the Indian using their right hand (not left hand) to have their meal! Then we procced to another curry shop and try some others. When we arrived to another shop, we ask the shop manager to produce some " SUPER SPICY" curry to us! However I don't have guts to taste it because I ama afraid I can't speak after I taste so spicy food! Then I ordered a drink. I think I was being cheated. I saw a drink called "MILO" and I really can't recall that is "¬ü¸S" in chinese. The manager said " This is a very special drink which is chocolate in taste, worth having a try". Then I am cheated for S$1 ( = HK$ 5) !! After tasting the super spicy curry, then we go to clarke quay (this is an area very similar to SOHO in Hong Kong Central), however, we don't realise we have arrived Clarke. Then we sae the GMAX, which is the exciting game delivering the people to the sky by tensioning the string of the machine. In fact I really want to have a try, but it is very expensive, HK$125 each, too expensive for me! Just like pouring water to the sea. Then we went to Chinatown by MRT, the people in Chinatwon are really nice, when we don't know who to get to a place, they will lead us to there. I think in Hong Kong, this situation is quite rare! Then we have a delicious dinner there.

Day 3 (17/1/2006)

After a very long and detail discussion in the hotel, we have decided to go to Sentosa for a whole day. This place is similar to Ocean Park in Hong Kong, but have much more thing to see than in Ocean Park in Hong Kong. We haven't played any exciting games here and we just do some sightseeing. And the fee for just doing sightseeing is cheap, only S$3! Just paying this fee, we can have some animal show, bird show, swim in the beach ........ much cheaper than in Ocean Park, but if you want to play the exciting games, then it may be very very expensive, can up to S$25 at least! First we went to the Soutmost point of Asia which is inside Sentosa, there is really hot, since it is the point in Asia nearest to the Equator, I think there must have 33 degree when we arrived in the afternoon! After that we have visited other sightseeing point such as the merlion in Sentosa, Animal show ..... Really a nice place to go and we played until 1800. Then we travelled back to Orheard Road and we started to realise thata it is really the Hong Kong Nathan Road on that day, many people on the street and the shops there are very very large. The item sold in the shop are also expensive. We walk aong Orheard Road for nearly 1 1/2 hour and finally arrived to Middle road( In fact not a famous road, just we came there on the first da and discover there is a chicken rice shop), we have tasted the chicken Rice, really delicious, then we went back to hotel until 0000.

Day 4 (18/1/2006)

Today just I and Alvin do around Sinagapore, we don't have any idea where to go, so we went back to the area of City Hall and want to buy two tickets for that night opera, however there is no opera on that night, so disappointed that I can't enter the Concert Hall and the Opera House to feel the largeset and the greatest place. I can ony jsut seen the scene inside throough the post card! In fact, this is an important date for me in Singapore, because this is the place I met, chatted and get known many thing in Singapore. First, in the foodcourt, I have met an officer from Toastmaster in Singapore, we have chatted a lot and she also have been to HKUST, however, she haven't been to HKU and want to have a look what HKU look like. We talked a lot on Singapore walfare, economic and some other issues, we also have keep in touch until now! She said she will visit HK in late 2006 and she said we can meet  in Hong Kong at that time! Then in Esplanade (the greatest Opera house and Concert Hall in Singapore), I have met two girls (may be sales-women) who sold cakes. We have also chatted a lot and later we knew that one of them was graduated from NUS (the University that will visited later). She said she have planned to go to HKU for exchange, however, she have gave up at last. What a pity! I have listened to some music in the CD shops there, the feeling is really really good, better than HMV in Hong Kong. The equipment is the shops are in high standard! At night, we choose to have dinner nearby. But after that, the most exciting event come, I and Alvin don't know how to get back to the hotel from there! I just taken some maps out without some street names and guessed we can get back to hotel by MRT. Then we get off from the Paya Lebar MRT station, we keep asking people, however, they don't know where the hotel is. Then I came out from the MRT station, we havae 1/4 chances to get in to the right routes. I guessed one of the routes and walk along it, at first I really don't sure whether I am true or not, at last, I can reconize the pub near the hotel, oh, I get the right route, then we get back to hotl safely without dialing to the police!

Day 5 (19/1/2006)

The main group from HK have joined us. After they arrived in Singapore, we first do a site visit in Paya Lebar. When I am in the coach, I discovered that the area we are going to is very similar to the area I get to the hotel last night! SHIT! That is the area near our hotel, we have passed the site everyday when we go to the sightseeing spots! Then we have a site visit in the new highway there, and I have get some information about hte engineering market in Singapore. At night, we have gone to Night Safari, I think this may not worth because it cost S$28 for ust seeing the animals in dark, at first I really guess the animal are areal or not because the zoo there are dark and we can't take photo with flash! Inside the zoo, beside sightseeeing, I have also have the chance to touch the snake, in fact I am quite scared, I have taken a photo, but hte image is not clear(Later upload to the site). Moreover, I have asked a silly question, "Can I see the tiger?" the people there reply," Yes", " but can I touch the tiger?" "Of Course not" " Can I take the tiger home?" "No!" Hahaha, just for fun!

Day 6 (20/1/2006)

At that day, I need to get up early in that morningto go to the refinery oil site of Shell. But we can't take photo there because of some reason. What a pity! From Chemistry, I know the fractional distilldation process of oil, on that day, I really have a chance to see the thing I have learnt in the boook and can't see in Hong Kong. The site there are very large and the fractional distillation towers are really high! In the afternoon, we have visited NUS (National University of Singapore), the engineering faculty is larger than the whole HKU, so great! They said that the engineering faculty have only 13000 undergraduates, not the largeest, the largest is the Art and Social Science Faculty, near half of the NUS students are belongs to, then you can imagine HKU is so small! in NUS I have also met some new friends! NExt time when they comt ot HK, I can offer them a guided tour! At night, I have attend the Grand dinner and met some people with engineering background and talkative!

Day 7 (21/1/2006)

A really free day because a guided tour by WL. One Funny thing is when I want to take a funny photo near Merlion, the Japanese looked at me and smile at me, the photo is really great, also upload later! At night we visited Chinatown again with the friends met in NUS and have dinner with them, then walked back to the City Hall area and sit near the Singapore River and chatted until 0200!

Day 8 (22/1/2006)

Since we will depart Singapore that afternoon, I do nearly nothing. But some exciting during the flight is the plane have met many turbulence buring the flight, it can't reach 10000m for 20 minutes after taken off and flew up and down. Woo..... really not safe. And other interesting thing is I have feel the hot and cold weather in the same day, 33 degree in Singapore and 11 degree when I got back to HK!!

Conclusion

I really think that Singapore is a great place, however, not the MUST GO spot attract me, but the people there have impressed me a lot, the people there are really nice and helpful. Worth visiting once more.

Another opinion is if you really want to play exciting games In Singapore, I think Singapore will not suit you because there are not much place to play and they are expensive. But you can plan to go to Malaysia which is the neightbour of Singapore (Analogy: Just like the situation of Shenzhen and Hong Kong). But if you want to do some sightseeing, Singapore will suit you because there are many thing to see! Also for Malaysia!
