MISCELLANEOUS * (2026/01/27) The famous martial arts movie star Bruce Leung Siu Lung passed away on the 14th of this month at the age of 75. His disciple Danny Chu Chun Yin posted on behalf of him, revealing that Leung Siu Lung bid farewell peacefully at 4 p.m. on January 14th after a 6 hours effort to save his life due to heart failure. Leung Siu Lung's funeral was held in Longgang, Shenzhen yesterday. Inside and outside the funeral home was crowded with relatives, friends and fans who went to see him off. The mourning hall was simply decorated, Leung Siu Lung in the posthumous photo gave a thumbs up. According to those who went to see him off, in order to take care of the fans, the family opened two mourning halls; one for family members and relatives and the other for fans to mourn. Chan Wai Man, Pai Piao, Lam Wai and Wong Ha Wai waited in Shenzhen to bid farewell to Leung Siu Lung. With some mobility difficulty, Chan Wai Man arrived with a cane and looked sad. After Leung Siu Lung's death Chan Wai Man posted a mourning video on social platforms, choking up and saying that he only learned the bad news 3 days after the death of his sworn brother Leung Siu Lung. He felt very upset and could not believe it at all. Pai Piao has worked with Leung Siu Lung many times before and were as close as brothers. They would often meet. When he learned of Leung Siu Lung's death, he felt very upset because they had only had dinner with each other two weeks ago; it felt very sudden. Stephen Chow Sing Chi invited Leung Siu Lung to play the villain in the movie KUNG FU HUSTLE (GONG FU), and Leung Siu Lung's popularity rose again. However later they were rumored to be at odds. After Leung Siu Lung passed away, Chow Sing Chi posted a message of condolences on social platforms, "Mr. Leung Siu Lung will be forever missed." Yesterday Chow Sing Chi sent a wreath to express his condolences, writing: "Forever missed Mr. Leung Siu Lung, Chow Sing Chi respectfully". * (2026/01/26) The 32nd Hong Kong Film Critic Society Awards earlier announced its winners. Louis Koo Tin Lok and Fish Liew Chi Yu won Best Actor and Best Actress. Best Film went to the so-called "urban legend" CIAO UFO (JOI GEIN UFO). Yesterday the Film Critic Society held a public forum at Causeway Bay to give the public an understanding behind the awards and the recommended films, discuss the reasons and key points. Member film critics Yip Chak Sing, Tsang Siu Wan, Cheuk Nam and Cheung Wai Hung were the speakers. The speakers revealed that there were questions about the film critic society having 10 recommended films in the past but only 6 this year. They explained that every year the recommended film quantity was different. Award winning films would not need special recommendations. They felt that last year's film quality was weak in comparison. Several "urban legend" movies aside from CIAO UFO were truly iffy, among them SONS OF THE NEON NIGHT (FUNG LUM FOR SHAN) was one vote short of becoming a recommended film. They said that with the entire film market has been weak and poor, the critic society did not want to go too easy and hence only recommended 6 films. Members once discussed leaving certain categories vacant this year, in the end they voted to keep all the awards. Best Actor and Actress Koo Tin Lok and Liew Chi Yu won with many votes. Liew Chi Yu in SOMEONE LIKE ME (JEUNG NGOR JEH YEUNG DIK OI CHING) played a cerebral palsy patient, a difficult role that she has obviously put in the hard work to play. Hence she won with her acting; Koo Tin Lok in BEHIND THE SHADOWS (SI GA JING TAM) gave an outstanding performance. They stressed that he did not receive the award out of "respect", but from fair voting after individual testimonies and discussions. * (2026/01/26) Raymond Lam Fung visited Taiwan again after many years to thank the audience for his movie BACK TO THE PAST (CHUM CHUN GEI), which attracted a large number of media interviews when he attended a press conference there yesterday. Regarding playing the same role again after 25 years and reuniting with his co-stars, he joked, "It's nice to see a lot of actors back then, it feels like a dream." He played the role of "Emperor Qin" in the film and was domineering. He revealed that in reality he had encountered fans who asked him to say "presumptuous" to them, which made Lam Fung smile bitterly and said, "Everyone is masochistic, and I finally said 'drag them out for beheading'." The audience burst into laughter! Lam Fung claimed that no "ordinary subject" recognized him. He said frankly that he would like to thank the management company, the boss and co-star Louis Koo Tin Lok (Goo Jai), saying that he has been like a teacher and a friend for many years. He would even carefully help him choose the script. "He is really my master. I rehearsed with him a lot back then. I was stupid and didn't know what I was acting, and he taught me a lot of things." Speaking of Goo Jai's strong aura, he explained on his behalf, "That's not called scary, it's called respectable. Of course when I first entered the industry, I was afraid of him and trembled; but later he became my great boss and big brother, and I had more respect when I saw his enthusiasm." Lam Fung pointed out that the last time he visited Taiwan was before he got married, when he and his wife Carina Zhang Xinyue went on vacation to Kaohsiung and Kenting. They once encountered a typhoon and the hotel also advised them to cancel the reservation, but Lam Fung felt that "since they were already here" they continued the trip. The two had a romantic and thrilling journey. Due to the tight schedule this time, he could not go shopping and try the food. He could only enjoy beef noodles at the hotel for fun. After returning to Hong Kong today he will continue to shoot new films, and after the Lunar New Year he will start preparing for the sequel to TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING). * (2026/01/26) Gordon Lam Ka Tung was a guest at the Central Harbourfront yesterday for a charity run. Regarding this year's new plan, Ka Tung revealed that he is preparing scripts for new directors, hoping that everyone would have the opportunity to start filming. Earlier he has performed on the stage, after which he has received many stage work offers. He also felt that performing on the stage was very pleasant, but because it took a very long time his film work had to be suspended. He would like to spend the time back on film from now on. Regarding Louis Koo Tin Lok's earlier "Hong Kong Film Critics Society" Best Actor Award, Ka Tung said that he has watched the award- winning film BEHIND THE SHADOWS (SI GA JING TAM) and congratulated him on making an outstanding work. As for a number of films that were said to be eligible to participate in the Hong Kong Film Awards earlier but were still "disqualified", Ka Tung said that he was busy working in the mainland recently and has not paid attention. * (2026/01/25) Dayo Wong Tze Wah, Sammi Cheng Sau Man, Renci Yeung Sze Wing, Mandy Tam Man Huen and others attended the promotional event of their Lunar New Year film "NIGHT KING" (YEH WONG) yesterday. The movie has launched a special limited set of 50 ticket packs worth HK$888. Director Jack Ng Wai Lun was happy that fans were lining up over night to buy then, which made him more confident in the box office of the movie. In the film Tze Wah needed to appear half-naked, he got into good shape to go into battle, saying that he did not want the audience to feel disgusted. Even Sammi praised Tze Wah's figure as eye-opening. Playing a night club manager, Wong Tze Wah had many smoking scenes. He advised everyone not to smoke, because smoking a cigarette in front of the camera was actually smoking a lot behind the camera. He said with a smile, "I don't smoke. Although I smoked when I was younger, I haven't smoked for many years. This time it's really a sacrifice for art." Earlier in the trailer he said, "The word is tough, we still keep going." Last night's event took place at 11 AM and he joked, "Today getting up that early was also very tough, but I still kept going. I trained for a week to be able to get up so early." Boasting of being responsible for her appearance in the film, Sammi funnily said that the bed scene with Wong Tze Wah was too short and fleeting. "I want to ask it to be a little longer, now it's a little short, faded in a flash. I also think that his underwear is a little long, but I can see that he has put a lot of effort into this scene. He is in great shape, when I saw his body my eyes blinked. I had a little impulse and my eyes were opened." Wong Tze Wah heard and immediately said that she finally found his weak spot and felt very embarrassed. He only minded that the blanket was too short. "I thought the blanket was a little short, I hope it would be a little longer. It's just the difference between paying attention and making people sick. If I don't pay attention I would make the audience sick. I didn't deliberately train, I just don't want everyone to feel sick, so two months before the shoot I just watched my diet. However the director arranged for this scene to shoot last, making me starve through the entire shoot. Now I can eat normally, having gained back a dozen or so pounds and am very happy." As for his confidence in the box office, Tze Wah has already participated in Lunar New Year films for many years. He believed that the audience will be happy, but no one knows the results for now. As a film professional he would feel that the film is pretty funny and full of twists and turns. No longer remember how many years she has not participated in a Lunar New Year movie, Sammi thought that the most important thing was to be able to work happily with a good team. She was able to play the role she liked, and the script was also interesting. It was not simply funny, everyone would understand when they enter the theaters to watch it. Renci Yeung Sze Wing, Mandy Tam Man Suen, Hazel Lam Hei Tung, Sumling Li and LaiYing Tang played escorts. Tam Man Suen laughed and said that she was in charge of drinking games in the film, but she did not know how to at all beforehand. She needed to find a master to learn the arts, saying, "The master even taught me the skills of con artists. I feel that in order to be the king of games, even if I lose I still have to have the presence. So this Lunar New Year please don't look for me." Sumling felt that the entire film was very colorful. "There are different attractive figures, each is attractive in its own way. Because no expense was spared on costumes, every one was great. However some of the stories were very touching, and some spots made me want to cry." She revealed that in the film her "oral skill was the strongest"; she could tie the cherry stem into a knot in her mouth and amaze many. She smiled and said, "Of course it is impossible to do in reality. (Do you have any intimate scene?) I got intimate with the cherry." Yeung Sze Wing joked that in the previous film (A GUILTY CONSCIENCE (DUK SIT DAI JONG)) she played a professional lawyer, this time she turned into a professional dance escort. She believed that everyone would enjoy this contrast. She laughed and said that her secret weapon was her eyes and even previewed that she would dance and sway. Although the dance costume was not very sexy, the attitude was sultry. When asked if she had any intimate scenes, Yeung Sze Wing smiled bitterly and said that the actor she worked with the most was Dee Ho Kai Wah. She worried that her acting career only had him and Kaki Sham. Was neither actor any match for her real boyfriend Owen Cheung Chun Long? She said, "Ho Kai Wah is a good co-star, aside from eating garlic and fried cabbage before filming intimate scenes. (Will you let your boyfriend enter the theater and watch the movie?) All of Hong Kong must go and watch." Young Hazel was responsible for cosplay, dressed up as a nurse to "give shots" to clients. The costumes this time were absolutely her personal breakthrough. "I have many different costumes, with little cloth and short dresses. Even in secondary school my dresses were down to the knees." The funny Lai Ying said that her character was the night club's secret weapon, showing off her fluent Japanese like mad in the film to please the clients' Japanese girl fantasies. Director Ng Wai Lun was surprised as many viewers lined up overnight to buy the 50 limited edition golden diamond class ticket packages, which were sold out in 20 minutes. He thanked all the bosses for their support, which gave him much more confidence in the box office. He stressed that he did not feel that being able invite Wong Tze Wah and Cheng Sau Man to smoke and use foul language in the film was very sharp. "None of my business. They are very professional, after reading the script they have no taboo at all." * (2026/01/24) Mainland actor Li Xian, Korean girl group MEOVV member GAWON, Korean guy group SEVENTEEN member JOSHUA, as well as local music diva Sammi Cheng Sau Man and the newly crowded Best Actress Fish Li Chi Yu, together with Will Or Wai Lam, Jeffrey Ngai Chun Sun, Kary Ng Yu Fei, etc., went to Central yesterday to attend the opening event of the brand's new store. They attracted a large number of fans to come and show their support. Li Xian, GAWON and JOSHUA introduced themselves in Cantonese and drew endless screams from fans. Cheng Sau Man has been busy recording a new album and promoting the Lunar New Year film "NIGHT KING" (YEH WONG), saying that through the collaboration she really got to know Dayo Wong Tze Wah and created chemistry for the performance. She even described him as "responsible for the flesh" in the film. Liew Chi Yu was happy to win the award with her boss Louis Koo Tin Lok, and hoped that they would have the opportunity to play a couple. Cheng Sau Man revealed that her work schedule before the concert in April has been jam packed, including the completion of a new EP album. "I want to record at least 6 new songs. I originally wanted to release an album, but I couldn't find so many songs. I didn't want to force it." She co-starred with Dayo Wong Tze Wah in the Lunar New Year film "NIGHT KING" (YEH WONG), which would be promoted later. "I would describe working with him as joyous and happy, it seems too simple. I am very happy to really get to know Tze Wah as a person, as from being polite we always talk to get to know each other. We very quickly found the chemistry in the performance, and I am very happy since I haven't made a Lunar New Year film in many years; although this is a comedy, I am the happiest about not in charge of being funny. Because I have made a lot of comedies before, I hope to have a different weight in my acting skills. In the film I am responsible for love, and the funny part has nothing to do with me. The bed scene was not difficult to handle either, because Tze Wah showed more than me; he took on the physical responsibility, and the most difficult part of my role was to use a lot of foul language and smoke a lot." Was she also responsible for being sexy? She could not help but laugh at herself, "There are some low-cut clothes, some pads for me to add. Yet at most I added a double layer. My starting point is too low, I wouldn't look too exaggerated no matter how many pads I add. The result would not be strong, but still better than nothing." Cheng Sau Man said that if she would have time off during the Lunar New Year, she would like to travel abroad. Her husband Andy Hui Chi On (On Jai) may not be able to accompany her because he would have to work. How has Hui Chi On's return to work been? She said, "He has arranged all that himself, this year he still has some plans in progress. As a fan, of course I think having a new song would be a new song. I am looking forward to On Jai's new work, but I have no plans to sing with him for the time being." Liew Chi Yu won the Best Actress Award at the 2025 Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards for "SOMEONE LIKE ME" (JEUNG NGOR JEH YEUNG DIK OI CHING). She was the happiest to win the award with her boss Louis Koo Tin Lok, who won the Best Actor with "BEHIND THE SHADOW" (SI GA JING TAM). She felt that this matter was very dreamy, and hoped to have the opportunity to make a movie with her boss. "Except for "BACK TO THE PAST" (CHUM CHUN GEI), we have never worked together on the film set. I hope to be able to play a couple with Boss, I have loved watching him since I was little. Yet I can't imagine that there would be an intimate scene." She caught the bridal bouquet at Yanny Chan Wing Yan's wedding ceremony earlier, and said that it was the second time she got it. She was afraid that she would not be able to get married after catching it twice. Would she like to be a bride in the Year of the Horse? She said, "We have talked about it, and everyone are seriously thinking about getting married. Yet it is probably too late in the Year of the Horse." Will Or Wai Lam suddenly posted on social platforms a few days ago: "Yes, I really have been well accepted. Thank you, let's go." It truly worried many. On his 34th birthday the day before yesterday, he carried a bouquet of flowers from fans and said that he was very happy to receive different flowers. His birthday wish was to wish everyone who has wished him good health to be healthy. He explained that the message he left a few days ago was actually dialogue from the Taiwanese film "A FOGGY TALE". "What do people being frightened have to do with me? Now I am scared. Health problems have been talked about for half a year and I have been nagged all day long. Everyone cares about my health, and I am starting to feel a little annoyed." * (2026/01/24) After leaving TVB last year Ali Lee Kai Sum set up his own studio to develop independently, and went to Malaysia for the drama THE EXILED with Chris Lai Lok Yi. She also opened the online platform "H3O" with Kaki Leung and Yeung Chiu Hoi. Yesterday Lai Kai Sum reportedly has signed a contract with Kenny Wee (Wong Ho), the husband of former TVB artist Suki Chui Ching Yiu (formerly known as Chui Suk Man), and would perform in 3 movies to become Wong Ho's first key project of his HK$ 800 million movie kingdom. Wong Ho started in food industry. Years ago he invested in a media company. Last year he reportedly led the establishment of film funds in the United States, Hong Kong and Singapore, which allegedly involved an investment of more than US$100 million (nearly HK$800 million). At that time he said that he wanted to contribute to the Hong Kong film industry, and believed that someone would watch the good content that he invested in. This time he signed a contract with Lee Kai Sum and told the media that his wife Suki Chui Ching Yiu recommended her. He has already paid attention to Lee Kai Sum's performance during her TVB period, and praised her acting skills. After his wife's suggestion, he contacted Lee Kai Sum through Andrew Yue Ming Hong and arranged for her to meet with three directors of the movies he would invest in. All three really liked Lee Kai Sum, so he signed her to a 3 movie deal. Wong Ho pointed out that he has met Lee Kai Sum with director Jingle Ma Chor Sing in Malaysia in July last year, the two sides talked for a long time, and the intention to cooperate was gradually established. He invested in the Wing Shya (Ha Wing Hong) directed film that would shoot on location in South Korea and Singapore, and also confirmed that Lee Kai Sum had a role. Lee Kai Sum went to Taichung the day before yesterday to attend the production start ceremony of her new film, one of the production companies of which was the Wong Ho invested film company. Lee Kai Sum and French Taiwanese actor Fabio Grangeon would play husband and wife in the film, which is expected to complete production before the Lunar New Year and open at the end of this year. * (2026/01/24) Raymond Lam Fung attended the sharing session for a brand he endorsed in Hong Kong the day before, as many as 2,000 people were at the scene. Everyone was very excited when they saw him appear, the entire audience stood up and rushed to take pictures. He immediately became "Emperor Qin" and invited everyone to sit down. "The ministers are excused." He even joked that he could be called by the character name "Ying Jing" or "Chiu Poon", and did not forget to call on everyone to go to the theaters and watch the movie "BACK TO THE PAST (CHUM CHUN GEI)". Speaking of his latest, he revealed that he has started working on a new film a few days ago but emphasized that it was not a sequel to "TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN" (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING), which is expected to start filming in March. Lam Fung knew how to work the crowd, taking a group photo with the audience after the sharing session and gave a people-friendly and funny performance throughout the process. Yesterday he went to Malaysia with Louis Koo Tin Lok, Jessica Hester Hsuan (Suen Huen) and Kevin Chu Kam Yin to attend the audience appreciation fan meeting for the film "BACK TO THE PAST (CHUM CHUN GEI)", which caused quite a stir. * (2026/01/23) The new director Timothy Yeung Wing Kwong written and directed, Anthony Wong Chau Sun, Patrick Tam Yiu Man, Nina Paw Hee Ching, Theresa Lee Yi Hung, and Harriet Yeung Sze Man starred movie FINCH AND MIDLAND consisted of 4 units, telling the loneliness and helplessness of immigrant life, finally letting go of the burden, learning to cherish the people in front of you, feeling the warmth of the moment, and discovering that there are still moments worth celebrating. Grew up in Canada, Yeung Wing Kwong directed a feature film for the first time. Having witnessed the hardship of relatives, friends and Chinese immigrants, he made a film based on the true stories he personally experienced and interviewed. He admitted that there was pressure during filming, but he felt lucky to work with a group of outstanding Hong Kong actors. Canadian-Chinese director Yeung Wing Kwong has seen the hardship of many relatives, friends and Chinese immigrants, so when he applied for a Canadian filming fund he made a film based on the real stories he personally experienced and interviewed. He was grateful that the script caught the eyes of producer Tsui Bo Wah, who even helped with the casting so that he could work with a group of excellent actors. He felt very lucky, "These actors are more experienced than me, of course there is pressure during filming. Yet I feel that every actor is very attentive as they create, the whole process is very enjoyable. Some moments I have entered the realm of forgetting myself." He remembered Wong Chau Sun and Harriet Yeung Sze Man adding special dialogues during filming, making the characters more three-dimensional and tense. "Chau Sun's last monologue, as well as the scene of the 50-year-old middle- aged woman Shrimp Head (Yeung Sze Man) taking care of her elderly mother Paw Hee Ching, reflect the mentality of the Chinese. These two scenes have triggered hot debates within the audience. I hope even more viewers would go to the movies and support it, so it would have a good box office." Wong Chau Sun played Tony, the factory manager in the film. Because his wife passed away AND his son was not around, he lived lonelily. He also suddenly lost his job. One day a youth broke into his home, from him he gained some level of comfort. Wong Chau Sun revealed that after reading the script, he was originally interested in the Patrick Tam Yiu Man played role of a singer but felt that it was not suitable. "I can only play Tony, who lives a depressed life." In the film he interpreted the entire range of emotions and was praised for being natural, detailed, and touching. Wong Chau Sun joked, "I have some experience in acting and I have won several awards, so I should be able to hand in my homework. I didn't deliberately design the performance. Because many changes would take place on the set, such as the director having different requirements last minute, scene changes and co-star communication, etc., the design in advance may not be useful. Even when he was working on big director Johnnie To Kei Fung's movies in the past this was the case. As an actor you need to adapt to the situation and rely on on-the-spot performance." He spoke English dialog in the entire film. Although he was familiar with the lines, he messed up the phone scene. After the cameras rolled, the director asked him to perform freely. He joked, "My mouth is crooked from all the talking." Wong Chau Sun revealed that he has immigrated before filming THE UNTOLD STORY (BAK SIN FAN DIM YUN YUK CHA SIU BAO) when he was in his 30s, "I immigrated to Canada in the 1990s, I couldn't stand it. Life was so boring; except for cooking, walking in parks and large supermarkets, I didn't know what to do. The security was not very good at that time. I remember a friend in the seafood industry. He had a refrigerator in the garage, and the thief chiseled a big hole in the garage, carried away the whole refrigerator and no one knew. The stupid thief came to steal again the next day, and was immediately arrested by the police, how stupid! So I was very quickly deterred." Wong Chau Sun said that he went to Toronto to shoot FINCH AND MIDLAND this time, maybe as he got older he felt that the environment was very comfortable, enjoyed quietly cooking, drinking, bird watching, and interacting with squirrels. He was reconsidering living in Canada, and at the same time facilitating the development of the European and American markets. With repeated setbacks in his show business career in recent years, he decided to transition starting 2026 from an entertainer to an artist. He revealed plans to go to the UK this year to perform stand-up comedy, as well as holding art exhibitions and teaching classes. He lamented, "Hong Kong doesn't have too many film jobs, for stage work venues are difficult to rent. There is no work." Wong Chau Sun has frequently collaborated with new directors in recent years, previously working with director Oliver Chan Siu Guen on the movie STILL HUMAN (LUN LOK YUN) that won the Hong Kong Film Awards for Best Actor and New Director. Nominated for the Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actor for FINCH AND MIDLAND, Wong Chau Sun said, "Actually I want to work with a group of old folks, but they don't pay attention to me. So I can only play with the young people, as we played it turned out to be pretty fun!" He felt that the film industry is a new generation now, the old era has passed, no matter the Hong Kong market environment, filming methods, story content, and producers they all have changed. When working with young people, he did not to teach them how to do things. Instead he has been able to learn from young people how to survive in the new generation, "I have learned how to rejuvenate myself". * (2026/01/22) Josie Ho Chiu Yi and her husband Conroy Chan Chi Chung, Iman Taheri, Andrew Lam Man Chung, Susan Shaw Yam Yam, etc. attended the premiere of the international version of the movie "DREAM HOME" (WAI DOR LEI AH YUT HO) the night before to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the film's release. Ho Chiu Yi since founding the film company 852 Films in 2006 has produced over 20 films. DREAM HOME was the first. She pointed out that the movie was released 15 years ago, which has not been a long time and not considered a box office hit. Due to the Hong Kong film censorship restrictions, the bloody, violent scenes were unable to be completely on display for the audience to see. Now with the international version viewers would be able to see the full version. Chiu Yi pointed out that the film was not the box office champion that year, but it was very sensational. She won the Best Actress Award at the 43rd Sitges International Film Festival in Spain, and the film was also sold to theaters around the world. "An English distribution company arranged for the film to be released in theaters in England and Scotland. They even invited me to promote the film. I was very surprised!" Would she plan to make a sequel? Producer Chan Chi Chung pointed out that in the past there were foreign companies that wanted to buy the copyright and remake it into a drama, while Chiu Yi said that overseas studios, including Hollywood studios, have asked to buy copyrights for filming, but she felt that this was the first "baby" of her film company. Even remakes would have to be authentic. Chan Chi Chung had to undergo multiple surgeries due to a torn aorta and was gradually recovering, but he had to go to the United States for surgery close to the heart due to health problems earlier. Two nights ago Chi Chung looked decent and was even full of smile. When asked about his health, Chi Chung said, "I am already much better, I am very happy to be able to come out and see everyone!" Chiu Yi said that her husband has completed an operation, but he could not have the aortic surgery for now because he has undergone many surgeries in the past few years. The doctor did not approve of him to have this major surgery. Chi Chung said, "I don't want to have it either, as long as the blood pressure is well controlled it should be no problem." At this time Chiu Yi also pulled up her sleeves, showed the bruises on her arms and said with a wry smile, "I have a lot of action scenes in THE MAGE 2 (SUP FONG FAT SI 2). Earlier for on a wire scene, I hug a stuntman like a koala but the wires scratched me like this. Both arms and inner thighs were all bruised, and even the meniscus was torn. Yet the movie would have to be finished before February 6th, only then I could go to the hospital for treatment." Also in THE MAGE 2, Iman Taheri was also covered in scars but he felt the fight scenes were a lot of fun. He said that he could not show everyone the scars but the injuries have not scared him away from acting. "I have gained a lot of experience and I thought it was a lot of fun." Chiu Yi laughed and said that in the film she played the role of a scavenger mage, which was equivalent to being a garbage woman. When filming the romantic effect of the falling cherry blossoms, she actually picked up the cherry blossoms that fell on the ground and used them again. Because they were already filled with dusts on the ground, after the shoot Iman's eyes were infected. She said, "Iman worked in an armor. Although he was very hot, he also looked very cool and he was very happy. I was a glutton for punishment, playing the scavenger mage and having to play with garbage on the set." Opening October 5 2025 at the Vancouver International Film Festival Opening at October 23rd at the 22nd Hong Kong Asian Film Festival (10.22-11.09) Opening January 15 2026 [ BROADWAY CIRCUIT ] In the often overlooked, aging neighborhoods of Scarborough, Ontario, four Hong Kong immigrants who arrived in the 1990s quietly unravel in middle age. Once a rising star in Hong Kong, a devoted carer for her elderly mother, a single mother struggling to make ends meet, and a widower yearning for connection – they each clutch fading fragments of dignity, community, and hope in a place as worn and forgotten as they are. The film portrays these fragile souls reaching out for connection – and discovering how far loneliness can stretch. Growing up within this immigrant community, the director witnessed firsthand the resilience of immigrants, creating a poignant meditation on displacement, aging, and the delicate threads that bind us all. Vancouver International Film Festival [ VANCOUVER INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2025 ] Timothy Yeung's film is a story of big losses, small triumphs, and moments of grace amid the grind of capitalism — in other words, life itself. Four Hong Kong immigrants are living lives of desperation in Scarborough, Ontario: Dan was a pop singer on the rise before his move to Canada, now he's barely scraping by; Eva is a lonely woman whose commitment to her aging mother has held her back in life; Fan is a part-time sex worker struggling to break into real estate; Tony is an aging widower whose factory job is at risk. Through these characters, Yeung explores diasporic alienation, economic hardship, and social isolation. His film is rich in cultural specificity, but that never obstructs his wider view. Building outwards from private hopes and personal pain, he creates a rich social document that cradles within it four precious human portraits. Tam, Yeung, Lee, and Wong are superb — their performances ring with commitment and authenticity. REVISIT Can : Hung Won Gok d. CRUEL STORY OF YOUTH (19TH FRESH WAVE) Length : 100 mins. Ryan will also have to face life lessons such as a test of friendship and the unfairness of the school system. The film's manga-like style and humourous scenes establish perfect comic timing. None of these offer a complete picture for the audience. Even more so, no synopsis can provide an accurate description. Try this: Mai, a massage girl past her prime, moves to the city to work. She meets Duong, a bar pianist seven years her junior, who pursues her recklessly. When she finally overcomes her inner demons and accepts his love, she discovers he actually comes from a wealthy family. However, Duong's mother, learning of Mai's dishonorable past, rejects her and tries to separate the lovers...Now doesn't this all sound quite familiar, resembling the Cantonese social dramas and ethical tragedies of CHOR Yuen, Filmmaker in Focus of last year? The truth is, Tr?n Thành has adopted a (nearly) hybrid style, combining Douglas SIRK’s melodramatic storytelling, R.W. Bodies hang precariously from the windows in a tangle of flesh and blood that soon leaves one man dead, while the other coolly walks away, shrugging off just another day in the life of a trained assassin. Known only as No. 4, this bleach-blond, stone-faced killer soon finds himself in Japan, where a seemingly straightforward assignment quickly spirals into a breathless game of cat-and-mouse with the Yakuza's deadliest foot soldiers. No. 4's client, a young woman with a personal vendetta against the city’s most notorious crime syndicate, ropes him into becoming her unwitting accomplice in a game of revenge that leaves them both out of their depth with a bounty on their heads. As their relationship evolves from professional to personal, they are left with no choice but to fight side by side if they are to survive the next 72 desperate hours. Wearing his influences proudly on his sleeve, first-time director NJO steers a classic gun-toting tale of heroic bloodshed into a head-on collision with a sleek, katana-wielding crime story of honour, betrayal, camaraderie, and vengeance. Drenched in neon and buffed to a shimmering polish, ROAD TO VENDETTA owes an inescapable debt to the works of John Woo, Johnnie To, Kinji Fukasaku, and Takashi Miike, even as it doffs its cap to the Hollywood homages—from KILL BILL to JOHN WICK—that have forged this path ahead of it. Large-scale protests by the populace have been brutally suppressed. This mix of documentary, fiction, and visions of the future reveals the current state of desolate depression among the people of Hong Kong. "A desperate attempt to capture the final moments of a sinking island", as maker Chan Tze-woon himself puts it. In four chapters, Chan looks back at previous moments of resistance and revolution on the island: in 1967, 1973, and 1989. He shows how the activists of then are faring now. Some still burn with righteous fire, while others are disillusioned or have been bought off by the system. The past is presented in fictional scenes, with today's activists playing those of yesteryear. Unfolding in the faded opulence of Tsim Sha Tsui's Mirador Mansion, it charts an unlikely bond between grizzled veteran Tai Bo and rising star Kuku So—he a mysterious rescuer, she a teenager running away from her mother's abusive partner. At first Alice (the Wonderland echoes ring deliberately) rebuffs her grizzled savior's gallantry. But their shared loneliness catalyzes a fraught rapprochement amid the mansion's crimson-lit maze. Fate draws her to a local church infested with illicit drug-dealing activities. She soon realizes her connection to that church is more personal than expected as there's a link to her family's past. Should she simply stay in the shadows and pray for a miracle, or put her karate chops to good use? An rejuvenated ode to both THE KARATE KID and the action heroines of Hong Kong's Golden Age, the latest from director Ricky Ko after his award-winning TIME (Fantasia 2021) once again nicely combines nostalgia and modernity with a potent mix of martial arts, humour, sweetness, and compelling characters, OUT OF THE SHADOW offers a guaranteed good time, a reminder of why we love HK movies so much in the first place. Site : https://iffr.com/en/iffr/2026/films/cyclone [ INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL ROTTERDAM ] Named after a figure from martial-arts literature, Cyclone follows a wanderer travelling from mainland China to Hong Kong in search of gender-affirming surgery. As the journey unfolds, desire and identity blur, echoing Philip Yung's portrait of a city continually redefining its sense of belonging. Cyclone is a curious title, alluding to one of modern martial-arts literature and cinema's most tragic heroines: Mei Chaofeng, often translated as Cyclone Mei. Like her literary counterpart, Cyclone is a wanderer, travelling from the People's Republic of China to Hong Kong in search of gender-affirming surgery. Yet the longer the journey takes, the less certain she becomes of her desire. The identity in question and the passage undertaken reach beyond the individual. Yung is also thinking of Hong Kong, a place whose identity is constantly questioned and that keeps searching for a sense of its own belonging. Although internationally known for multilayered crime films such as Where the Wind Blows (2022), Philip Yung has long been drawn to more intimate stories. Cyclone feels like a place where everything he cares about has found a home. The narrative is both sprawling and concentrated, profoundly personal yet resonant with the experience of a people. It moves across temporal, regional and cultural barriers with clarity and grace, all the while maintaining an effortless visual beauty. – Vanja Kaludjercic AT THE BENCH d. Opening October 5 2025 at the Vancouver International Film Festival Opening at October 23rd at the 22nd Hong Kong Asian Film Festival (10.22-11.09) Opening January 15 2026 Trailer : https://youtu.be/W0fubpN8BJA [ BROADWAY CIRCUIT ] In the often overlooked, aging neighborhoods of Scarborough, Ontario, four Hong Kong immigrants who arrived in the 1990s quietly unravel in middle age. BACK TO THE PAST Rating : IIB Length : 107 mins. After his release, he leads his daughter Galie and a team to steal the Cme machine. Equipped with a face-duplication device, Ken plans to pose as the Qin Emperor and realize his dream of being king as his way of making up for everything he lost. Meanwhile, in the Qin Dynasty, Hong Siu-lung has been living in seclusion in the countryside with his wives Kam Ching and Ting-fong, his son Bowie, and his blood brother. Life looks peaceful on the surface, but the family are closely watched by the Qin Emperor. Ken launches an ambush on the Qin Emperor, but the emperor manages to escape. Meanwhile, Hong knows that as the only person who knows that the Qin Emperor is actually impersonated his disciple, he will be worthless once the Qin unites the warring states. To protect his family, Hong decides to uproot his family. However, before he can leave, the Qin Emperor, comes to Hong for help after escaping Ken's ambush. For the first time in 20 years, the mentor and his disciple are reunited. [ THE FILM CATALOGUE ] Three years ago, Randy Lee, the only son of the richest man in Hong Kong, took part in a time traveling experiment back to the Qin Dynasty, to study the First Emperor's elixir of life. But he was never heard from again. Today, his father Lee Ka-chun uncovered 2 mummies near an unexcavated area of the First Emperor's mausoleum, with one of them holding a smart phone. When it was confirmed that the phone belonged to Randy and contained pictures of a bomb defuser called Hong Siu-lung, Lee Ka-chun persuaded Hong Siu-lung to go back in time and bring his son home. Opening at October 25th at the 22nd Hong Kong Asian Film Festival (10.22-11.09) Opening November 13 2025 Teaser : https://youtu.be/1V6IPJEF7xg [ BROADWAY CIRCUIT ] The world of Kabuki, the elaborately stylised, male Japanese theatrical tradition, is the setting for director Lee Sang-il's epic melodrama of artistic ambition, rivalry and betrayal. It is an adaptation of a bestseller by Shuichi Yoshida, and weaves in stunning stagings of classic Kabuki tales that wowed audiences at Cannes Directors' Fortnight. In 1960s Nagasaki, after the death of his yakuza father, gifted teenager Kikuo is taken under the wing of famed Kabuki actor Hanjiro Hanai, even though the great performer already has a son, Shunsuke, who has dedicated his life to the art. Over fifty years, the relationship of the two disciples entwines and twists, and their hearts suffer as much yearning, glory and downfall as their on- stage alter-egos. ------------ For the week starting January 24 2026 (Week 4) VIUTV CHILL CLUB CHART 5 MOON NIGHT CONCERTO Can : Mei Loi Dik Gor moon tang https://youtu.be/dUD_Q7pWNeI 4 DEAR US Can : Cup Sing Lei Jeh Dik Yut Fung Shun Nowhere Boys https://youtu.be/tjfBtzGizJA 3 ICONIC Gin Lee (Lee Hung Ngai) https://youtu.be/m-KFfFsxfac 2 LION TIGER FLOW Can : Si Fu Lau Fatboy X Keung To https://youtu.be/WWlgr4U7JVw 1 WHOEVER DOES NOT LOVE ME Can : Na Seh But Oi Ngor Dik Yun Phil Lam Yik Hon https://youtu.be/-ZcraUiwCwQ TVB JADE SOLID GOLD 5 WISH YOU ALL THE BEST Can : Nei Fai Lok Jau Ho Aiden Hung Jor Sing https://youtu.be/G61iYo7v954 4 CHUNG LING Can : Chung Ling Adia Chan Chung Ling https://youtu.be/ttU5jm5o4VM 3 UNSEEN LIGHT Can : Dun Chook Cheung Dik Guong Vivian Koo (Kuk Ah Mei) https://youtu.be/0zGPrku6028 2 WHY AM I NOT AS GOOD AS HIM Can : Wai Hor Ngor Bei But Seung Ta Albert Chau Kat Pui https://youtu.be/QmW_IqVZZic 1 UPPER CLASS LOWER CLASS Can : Sheung Lau Ha Lau Charmaine Fong Ho Man https://youtu.be/0xCq-kchjkM METRO RADIO HIT DOMESTIC CHART 5 IMMACULATE Can : Ching Bak Ji Sun Jace Chan Hoi Wing https://youtu.be/l-1wParlIOw 4 DON'T KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN Can : But Ji Chung Hor Suet Hei Miriam Yeung Chin Wa https://youtu.be/p1MMdoslp_Q 3 NOW I CAN'T UNKNOW THIS [ACOUSTIC REMIX] Can : Yu Hor Bin Wui But Ji Doh Dear Jane https://youtu.be/22523-wyQ0Y 2 I TOLD A.I.
