As a mother of two, she patiently instructed the young children to try covering their eyes and had snacks. Privately she has also begun to teach her children to protect their eyes. Recently Yu Heung Yi with the film IN BROAD DAYLIGHT (BAK YUN JI HA) received the Hong Kong Film Critic Society "Best Actress" award. She felt very happy that her acting has been recognized, even her two year old daughter complimented her. She said that when she go the news she was already celebrating with her family. "Kaki Sham and Lam Yiu Sing have a poon choi business and send over a basin of it to me. It was delicious. I opened a bottle of wine and had a little with her younger sister." She thanked Papa for giving her a good name that brought an award to her. "My friend (Henick) Chou Hon Ning studies name metaphysics. He praised my name for having four fortune characters in it. My Papa gave me that name. I would have friends and life would have good luck." She also pointed out that her mother in law named her children, which had meaning of good health and ample energy. She thanked the director and the cast and crew for her acting being recognized. Would she have pressure on her acting? Yu Heung Ying admitted that she once felt a lot of pressure on her acting. "Earlier I have chatted with elder Chiang Dai Wai (John Gor). He taught me for every performance I should treat myself like a new comer, erase all the baggage before, properly enjoy the process, and not to give myself pressure. He got to me, so I wouldn't have any pressure." Has her husband rewarded her with any present? She pointed out that she already had a lot of material and did not need too many presents. She would rather donate the money to charity. For example for her daughter's birthday, because she already had a lot of toys, she told her that she would send gifts on her behalf to charity; or give old toys and clothes to people in need. * (2024/01/17) Best Actor Simon Yam Tat Wa and "daughter" Stephy Tang Lai Yan yesterday afternoon went to work on their new film, and Yam Tat Wa became a photo opportunity target. Speaking of his horse winning as the dark horse, he was rather excited. The professional Stephy worked almost completely without make up. Yam Tat Wa worked with Stephy for the first time. Yesterday they appeared in Kowloon City for the new film HUNG DAU (RED BEAN)'s location shoot, and often attracted onlookers. The scenes were more relaxing, only briefly explaining that Yam Tat Wa and his on screen wife Mimi Kung Chi Yan entering store. The scene was done in only a few takes. Yam Tat Wa played the aging owner of a Tongsui shop, for the role he abandoned his handsome image and changed into an older look for work. During lunch, the always friendly Yam Tat Wa, co-star Fong Ping and others just set up a table on the streets. Then he went to a nearby cafe for the rest room and tea latte and immediately caused a stir, as employees all asked him for photos. He could not be more welcoming. Later pedestrians asked for photos as well and Yam Tat Wa followed Chow Yun Fat's example as he took the cell phone selfie. Speaking of last week when his horse won over HK$ 1 million, he simply replied, "I chipped in with friends on the horse. I really didn't know. In addition because of the movie I didn't appear in person." Yam Tat Wa and his on screen daughter Stephy did not share any scene. When Stephy appeared on the set, she with little make up knelt to act with elders Fung So Bo and Fong Ping. Because the film company would arrange for a press conference in a few days, Stephy through her assistant politely said, "Today isn't too convenient for interviews, let's talk in a few days." * (2024/01/16) The film THE GOLDFINGER (GUM SAU JI) after its global simultaneous release has already passed HK$ 500 million at its global box office. At the same time, THE GOLDFINGER also has caught attention in Hong Kong as well as overseas film festivals and awards. At the 17th Asian Film Awards, THE GOLDFINGER received three nominations: Best Actor (Tony Leung Chiu Wai), Best Costume Design (Man Lim Chung), and Best Art Direction (Lam Chi Kiu); at the 30th Hong Kong Film Critic Society Awards it was one of the recommended films; at the 26th Udine Far East Film Festival THE GOLDFINGER would also be in competition. Catherine Chau Ka Yi in the film THE GOLDFINGER played Wa Jai's wife, and Renci Yeung Sze Wing played their older daughter. In the film Wa Jai's family of four, including a three month old baby boy were attacked at the parking lot. Wa Jai fought hard to prevent any tragedy from happening. Although in the end no one lost their lives, each had their own injuries. While being transported to the hospital for treatment, they ran into Wai Jai in a wheelchair. Before Wa Jai had a premonition that Wai Jai would be a danger to his family. He even asked Ka Yi to take their children and leave Hong Kong temporarily. Now indeed they have become a target, Ka Yi could not help but slap Wai Jai then viciously said to Wa Jai, "Lau Kai Yuen, if you don't arrest him, don't bother coming home!" Ka Yi was in front of two Best Actors, one played her husband and the other the target she needed to slap. She not only did not have any stage fright, she even vividly performed the raging fire in her heart for Wai Jai. Originally Wa Jai watched his wife and children getting hurt he was already on fire, who knew that Ka Yi would explode even more all at once. On one hand she saw her hard working husband getting injured, on the other she and her children almost lost their lives. Her slapping Wai Jai became a climatic scene. Before the cameras officially rolled, several leads seriously rehearsed. Wa Jai grabbed Ka Yi's hand and not only taught her how to slap Wai Jai but also shared how to explore the emotions. In the end the scene was completed smoothly and very quickly. Afterward Ka Yi immediately consoled Wai Jai, "Sorry, Mr. Leung. Dos it hurt?" Wai Jai responded, "OK, no problem!" Ka Yi recalled the emotions of the production. "I had more exchanges my husband in the film Mr. Lau. He would provide a lot of suggestions and ideas; no more needs to be said about how friendly Mr. Leung is. He has given me enormous confidence. Because I have to slap him, he says to me, 'Just hit me, no problem, it's like swatting a mosquito!' He truly is great. On the set I would try to control myself, reminding myself not to constantly peek at them." * (2024/01/16) The band Dear Jane recently for the film DELIVERANCE (YUEN SUN JUI) performed the theme song. The film company at many MTR stations released the film light box advertisement with four text advertising slogans that were rather eye catching. The theme song music video was about 4 minutes long and edited with film footage. Dear Jane's lead vocalist Tim Wong Tin Ngo also guest starred in the film as the female lead Summer Chan Chi Huen's fiance. Thus when he sang the theme song he was extra focused. * (2024/01/16) Music Heavenly Queen Joey Yung Cho Yi last summer held 34 concerts, the overwhelming response made a ticket difficult to get. In order for even more music fans to be able to her work, earlier she announced that the concert would move to the big screen and arranged for 10 shows on January 19th at the Emperor Cinema. Earlier she held a late night advanced screening with the concert's cast and crew, family and friends for an early glimpse. Joey at the cinema thanked the concert director Kearen Pang Sau Wai and music director Ho Bing Siu for rushing to produce the concert film. She joked that she was very happy, "because I have never seen Yung Cho Yi perform!" Because when the show ended it was already 3AM, the shopping center was already closed. Everyone could only leave through another way, but everyone remained in high spirits. * (2024/01/16) Eddie Peng Yu-Yan, Terrance Lau Chun Him and Kevin Chu Kam Yin worked together on the film I DID IT MY WAY (CHIM HUNG). In one scene Peng Yu-Yan had to identify Chu Kam Yin at the morgue. Chu Jai had to be topless and lie on the slab. He was cold and hungry, having to maintain this condition for a whole morning of the shoot was rather rough. Off camera, Chu Jai and Peng Yu-Yan have been good friends for many years. Before the shoot they still kept chatting and studying the emotional scene. Peng Yu-Yan during the shoot was very focused in his performance, shedding tears with real emotions. When Chu Jai talked about the experience, Peng Yu-Yan even mischievously cut in. Chu Jai also revealed that they have planned to go wakesurfing, but Peng Yu-Yan has yet to have time to make it happen. * (2024/01/16) The 30th Hong Kong Film Critic Society Awards yesterday announced its winners in 5 award categories and 8 recommended films. Yu Heung Ying was also very grateful for various film critics' support. "When I just started acting I had a lot of room for improvement. Each time I would everyone's film reviews to heart, think about what I would need to improve or listen attentively to what everyone feel is good or not good. So film critics' reviews to me are rather important. In addition I am very happy that IN BROAD DAYLIGHT received the year's recommended film. The film is still in release, I hope viewers would go again to support it." IN BROAD DAYLIGHT became one of the eight recommended films. Director Lawrence Kan Kwan Chun also thanked the Film Critic Society. He pointed out, "Every one of our posts are very happy and also happy for Yu Heung Ying. Having this group of actors in my movie is my honor and fate. The award is an encouragement, encouraging us to be able to continue to improve." "Best Director" Li Tsz Chun said, "Very happy, this is the first film award in my life. Thank you Hong Kong Film Critic Society. To be able to have your recognition, I am very happy. Thank you investors, the staff and the outstanding actors in the cast and the crew; thank you to directors who have taught me over the years including (Derek) Yee Tung Sing, (Andrew) Lau Wai Keung, (Alan) Mak Siu Fai, (Ringo) Lam Lan Tung, (Johnnie) To Kei Fung. Without the road before, I wouldn't have this road now." * (2024/01/16) Angel Chiang Ka Man and Edward Ma Chi Wai after working together in 2013 on the Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum) movie A SECRET BETWEEN US (DAI YUT CHI BUT SI NEI) recently reunited in the film LOVE AT FIRST LIE (BUT SI NEI BUT OI NEI). They said that they have already not seen each other in 10 years; but whether shooting their hugging or arguing and slapping scenes, they trusted each other very much and were chemistry. In a struggle, Chiang Ka Man's arm had red marks from being clawed. Ma Chi Wai kept apologizing afterward. She joked, "Other than you, I wouldn't any other actor touch me like this. If they got me all red like this, I definitely wouldn't show them any mercy!" Ma Chi Wai also said, "I then wouldn't show them any mercy either!" Working together again, they praised each other for how well maintained they were. They also thanked Yip Lim Sum for "matching" them together again. Ma Chi Wai joked that he hoped next time they could try playing mother and son, which had Chiang Ka Man widening her eyes to say no! * (2024/01/16) The Lunar New Year film ROB N ROLL (LUM SI GIP ONG) would be released during this Lunar New Year and celebrate the holiday with Chinese people in Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and the other places around the world simultaneously. ROB N ROLL was Derek Yee Tung Sing produced, Albert Mak Kai Kwong directed, Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai), Gordon Lam Ka Tung and Maggie Cheung Ho Yee starred. The film was triggered by a robbery. The Aaron played robber triggered a robbery on Temple Street, in the process he stumbled his way into dragging in taxi driver Lam Ka Tung and nursing home social worker Yam Yin Chai. With a breakthrough performance this time, Kwok Fu Sing in ROB N ROLL played the armed robber Mui Nam Tin. Aaron pointed out that the character would not be a breakthrough in costume, but he also hoped that the personality would be a little different from armed robbers in the usual crime films. Thus he spent a lot of time and effort on it. Aaron, director Mak Kai Kwong and costume designer Man Lim Chung before the production began discussed diligently on how to inject dark comedy elements into the character. At the same time about the costume design, Aaron also provided some suggestions. He said, "In a short time we have to show that the character is a wrestler, no matter what he has to have some chest muscles, firm physique, so before the shoot I increased my fitness training. In addition in the script I would have wrestling (cauliflower) ears, mainly for the audience to feel that the character is also full of experience." Aaron in order to demonstrate the wrestling ears that best fit the role posed for several mold making for the costume. Aaron said, "I feel this concept is pretty interesting, I have to make it the best." After Aaron's bucktooth costume was exposed, it instantly became he focus. This idea even came from Aaron himself. Aaron revealed, wearing the false teeth at first was uncomfortable. He took them home in advanced to practice reading the script and try to overcome the obstacles from wearing them as soon as possible. This time the ROB N ROLL production team applied to the government for the closure of Temple Street for a week of production. Aaron said, "No one has shot Temple Street in a long time, I am grateful to the Hong Kong government for lending the streets. We shot the gun fight during the 7 day closure of Temple Street. We rehearsed many times, really like a play. It was very exciting, very memorable. I hope everyone would like it." * (2024/01/15) TVB's annual event THE TVB AWARDS 2023 last night took place in Macau. The Best Actor and Best Actress were Moses Chan Ho and Charmaine Sheh Si Man. The series THE QUEEN OF NEWS (SUN MUN NUI WONG) swept up 8 awards. Ah Sheh often went to the stage to accept awards, winning "Best Actress", Greater Bay Area and Malaysia Favorite TVB Actress awards. She even became the first person to win three TVB Best Actress awards. Many artists have been toiling for years in silence. Last night several actors who have been in the business for over 15 years including Samantha Ko Hoi Ning, Jazz Lam Chi Sin, Mark Ma Kwun Tung all received awards as their hard work has been recognized. This year's competition was fierce. Chan Ho with NARCOTICS HEROES (POR DUK KEUNG YUN)'s "drug king" Man Wa became the television Best Actor. Having been nominated 28 times in the category, Chan Ho this time won again after winning in 2007 with HEART OF GREED (TONG SUM FUNG BO). He also received the award from his wife Aimee Chan Yan Mei's hands. However Aimee was even more emotional than her husband and she broke down in tears on the stage. After Ah Mo gave his speech, they immediately went into an embrace. Chan Ho with NARCOTICS HEROES (POR DUK KEUNG YUN) won "Best Actor". He felt that the award proved that the way he studied productions hard in the past was correct. He was the happiest about receiving the award from his wife's hands, which he described as "sweet plus a little much" and joked that not many people would have such an opportunity; he also joked that he was a "bull" and would only continue to keep working hard. He would not make a big deal of the victory and would not stop his pace. How would he celebrate? He said that he did not enjoy big celebration. He joked that his children have also complained that only their parents went to Macau. Perhaps his wife would also take the chance to arrange for time for just the two of them. Sheh Si Man in THE QUEEN OF NEWS played "Sister Man" Man Wai Sum. The series after its release has even hot topic. Having won Best Actress twice before, Ah Sheh this time again as the favorite won the honor. Ah Sheh after accepting the award from Raymond Lam Fung and Tavia Yeung Yi said, "People always say two comes after one, and three comes after two, usually they don't mean anything good; but actually when I am standing here and saying it it can be a good thing. Winning an award truly is very hard, thank you very much to producer Chung Shu Kai for asking me to make this series. Thank you for running for this character Sister Man, and for working with a group of good actors Ma Kwok Ming, (Selena) Lee Sze Wa, Ko Hoi Ning, (Matthew) Ho Kwong Pui, (Regina) Ho Yee Ting. You have given a good memory to me. I hope to be able to run into even better characters, better shows, so everyone would be able to come home and binge series. Also thank you Mommy, she takes care of me." Then host Ting Chi Long whistled at Ah Sheh to introduced "Best Drama" award guest presenter Julian Cheung Chi Lam and her RETURN OF THE CUCKOO co-star. They first hug, then Ah Sheh left the stage. Cheung Chi Lam was also quite a gentleman and helped Ah Sheh off the stage. Becoming the three time television Best Actress, Ah Sheh said that it was a surprise to her as well. She would cherish it very much and be very grateful. The happiest for her was that the series also won awards, and it was a very memorable evening. Speaking of Raymond Lam Fung and Julian Cheung Chi Lam also becoming gues presenters, she said that before hand she did not know either. The two of them, Bowie and Tavia Yeung Hiu Sin were all colleagues she has worked with, brought back many past series production memories. This evening to her was rather meaningful. Starting with Ko Hoi Ning's victory she already started getting teary eyed. She also hoped that she and Bosco Wong Chung Chak would have the chance to work on a series together. Last night's award show host was the rising young actor Karl Ting Chi Long. The first award of the evening was "Best Supporting Actress", which went to Samantha Ko Hoi Ning for THE QUEEN OF NEWS. Patrick Tam Yiu Man and Philip Keung Ho Man present the award to her. Winning her first award in her 15 year career Ko Ling was crying tears of joy. In the audience Sheh Si man also shed happy tears for her good co-star. The "Best Supporting Actor" went to MISSION RUN (YUN YING JIN DUI)'s Jazz Lam Tsz Sin. Already in tears before reaching the stage, he even bowed on his knees once the stage. Then he said, "Actually I really don't like to cry, the bow before was for my parents because my parents brought me into this world. Otherwise there wouldn't be Lam Tsz Sin. Actually I wanted to win 'Leaping' because winning 'Leaping' I could win another "Supporting Actor', but not now. I want to thank the executives who voted for me. I believe in the Heaven for a lot of things, when you work hard you still need people to coordinate with you. After I came into TVB many people have loved me. I am not TVB's own, but I have treated like my home. I am bleeding TVB blood! Thank you for bringing me into the business, (Stephen) Chow Sing Chi. When I was the most unemployed, Tsang Chi Wai brought me back into the film industry." After 18 years in the business Mark Ma Kwun Tung won "Leaping Improvement Male Artist". "18 years aren't a short time, when I got into the business I already knew this actor road wouldn't be smooth sailing, wouldn't be easy to take. Because when I came out of the training class, Sister Chun (Tsang Lai Chun) chatted with me. She told me about many shortcomings and flaws that she wanted me to fix, to keep learning. After learning them I would have another chance. I then worked very hard on keep changing myself, keep learning hard." Mak Kwun Tung said, "I have learned that each chance would have to be properly grasped, don't waste any single opportunity or any person who has given me a chance." Nominated for the Leaping Improvement Female Artist for the four year in a row, Tiffany Lau Wing Suen with the sexy fighter in MISSION RUN finally won this year. She wept tears of joy on the stage and thanked producer Jazz Boon (Man Wai Hung) for giving her a lot of opportunities to perform. Jarvis Chow Yik Wai and Mayanne Mak Mei Yan won "Best Male and Female host" and both were rather emotional. Chow Yik Wai said over the years he has been called someone without shape, appearance, stage presence, he wanted to say to those who has questioned him before, "Don't let people's impression of you limit your own impression of yourself." Mak Mei Yan was teary eyed, saying that she was TVB reared and raised, her award was due to many who motivated her behind the scenes. Newly added this year, the Greater Bay Area awards invited Gallen Lo (Law Ka Leung) and Bowe Lam Bo Yi to be their guest presenters. The "Greater Bay Area Favorite TVB Drama" went to the favorite THE QUEEN OF NEWS. "Greater Bay Area Favorite TVB Actor" went to MISSION RUN's Bosco Wong Chung Chak, "Greater Bay Area Favorite TVB Actress" went to THE QUEEN OF NEWS' Sheh Si Man, "Greater Bay Area Favorite TVB Variety and Informational Program" went to SUPER TRIO SPECIALS. The other four were Yumi Chung Yau Mei, Kelly Gu Pui Ling, Kayan Yau and Archie Sin Ching Fung. TVB Co. Ltd. assistant general manager Keith Yuen Chi Wai received the TVB Anniversary Honorary Award. Yuen Chi Wai has been in the news business for 47 years, from reporters to News Department Chief Producer to assistant general manager. For decades the news business withstood its share of pressure. He thanked TVB management for never interfering with the news department's work. The rarest was that he passionately loved the news, as he only worked one job in his life. More than loyal to TVB, his professional spirit was truly admirable. Malaysian goddess Lin Minchen with elder Wu Fung presented Malaysia Favorite TVB Actor, Actress and Drama awards. They had quite a comedic effect. Lin Minchen's Cantonese even cracked up everyone. She kept saying "Ket Sup (drama ten)" instead of "(ket Jap) series", and made THE INVISIBLES' Chinese title into YUN YING JIN JUI (INVISIBLE WAR MOUTH). With her sweet smile and cute trademark poses throughout, she brought a lot of joy to the tense award show. 2023 TVB AWARDS BEST DRAMA : THE QUEEN OF NEWS BEST ACTOR : Moses Chan Ho (NARCOTICS HEROES) BEST ACTRESS: Charmaine Sheh (THE QUEEN OF NEWS) BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Jazz Lam (MISSION RUN) BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Samantha Ko (THE QUEEN OF NEWS) LEAPING IMPROVEMENT ACTOR: Mark Ma LEAPING IMPROVEMENT ACTRESS: Tiffany Lau MOST POTENTIAL NEW COMERS: Kayan Yau, Kelly Gu, Gigi Yim, Archie Sin, Yumi Chung BEST MALE HOST: Jarvis Chow Yik Wai BEST FEMALE HOST: Mayanne Mak Mei Yan BEST VARIETY PROGRAM: MIDLIFE SING AND SHINE! This time Stephy even gained weight for the role. Stephy earlier went on vacation in Japan to recharge and ate like mad. After returning to Hong Kong she immediately jumped into the new film production, even posting a "spoiler" on social media, "For this character I hope to be a little fatter and a little rounder, which I feel would be more suitable for the role!" Reportedly, after around 13 years in film, Stephy finally had the opportunity to work with great actor Yam Tat Wa. Their family film HUNG DAU (RED BEAN) earlier has already begun production under a low profile and even shot many night shoots. No wonder earlier when she got a day off, she was still busy sharing the "good news". This time Stephy in the film would play a heiress of a Kowloon City Tongsui shop that was known for its red bean soup. Originally chasing her dreams, she was demanded by "Papa" Yam Tat Wa to give it up and return to help out at the Tongsui shop. Hence a strong conflict between father and daughter was created. Later the two and Stephy's "little brother" Jeffrey Ngai Chun Sun teamed up, but unfortunately the environment change made business no longer what it was. The family of three in order to protect their "home" gave their all, through which brought the never give up, never surrender spirit of Hong Kong people. The film company even called in all the favors and invited a group of good actors including Mimi Kung Chi Yan, Fung So Bo and Fong Ping to perform. Some said that HUNG would be an extension of the also Yam Tat Wa starred ECHOES OF THE RAINBOW. In 2010 ECHOES won the Berlin Film Festival Generation Kplus Best Feature Film Crystal Bear. Still a new comer then, Aarif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting) thus rose to fame. Yam Tat Wa even with the film won the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actor, no wonder this time the entire team was full of confidence and hoped that HUNG would be able to continue the success. Yam Tat Wa said in a simple response, "Right now I am working day and nght, I play a professional Tongsui master." * (2024/01/14) The film LOVE AT FIRST LIE (BUT SI NEI BUT OI NEI) earlier held advanced screenings during the Christmas and New Year slot. The outside reaction was enthusiastic. Playing Ah Bo in the film, Mandy Tam Man Huen often followed director Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum) and other actors to audience appreciation events. Promoting hard off camera, Mandy admitted that after getting the script she spent a lot of time on studying the character. She gradually felt that "Ah Bo"'s personality was very close to her own. She said, "Ah Bo is a very direct girl, very loyal. Grew up on Fa Yuen Street, she is very local, very attentive, thinking of her friends at every turn. I truly couldn't find any flaw in her. My personality is very similar to Ah Bo's, Ah Bo is even more direct than me. Maybe it has to do with age, she is only 17 or 18." LOVE AT FIRST LIE was about a group of young people who grew up on Fa Yuen Street. They included Mandy, Leung Chung Hang, Hazel Lam Hei Tung, Locker Lam Ka Hei and Henick Chou Hon Ning. Without much big screen performance experience, Mandy was happy to have a group of elders' help; especially from "Ah Bing" Leung Chung Hang. Mandy said, "I remember the motto Elder Bing told me, 'focused but relaxed'. I truly learned something. Elder Bing is a co-star who can really put people at ease. He has quite the 'big brother' feel. In the film I am already the big sister, but he is an even bigger brother. On and off camera I called him Big Brother. Even in my phone, his ID is 'Big Brother Bing'." Aside from elder's teachings, Mandy was also able to relax with basketball. She said, "Director Yip Lim Sum, in order to put me even more in character and at ease, designed Ah Bo to like playing basketball. Because every time I picked up the basketball I would relax much more, so the more intimate scene with Ah Jai (Edward Chen) took place on a basketball court. It was a good thing, as I had a home court feeling." Playing basketball not only made Mandy relax, but also brought her closer to avid basketball fans Edward Chen and Leung Chung Hang. Mandy challenged Edward Chen to a one-on-one game. One day the team rented a hall with a basketball hoop to be the temporary make up room. Mandy and Leung Chung Hang on their breaks practiced shooting, Mandy came out with an overwhelming victory and lived up to her "basketball goddess" title. * (2024/01/13) Andy Lau Tak Wa, Hedwig Tam Sin Yin and Kevin Chu Kam Yin two nights ago attended their film I DID IT MY WAY (CHIM HUNG)'s audience appreciation events and received the support of a large group of Wa Jai fans. As the film ended they even sang the end credit song. Then Wa Jai appeared, fans even cheered and screamed, raised their banners and light signs high. On his way out Wa Jai got close to shake hands with fans and caused a stir. At the event, the film's producer and actor Wa Jai was asked about his views of the two new generation actors Tam Sin Yin and Chu Kam Yin. He joked, "I have been in the business for so many years, I only want to say one thing to new comers: I would keep you company and walk together, but don't mind me raising your average age." The host pointed out that Wa Jai even raised the face value. After the event, Wa Jai, Tam Sin Yin and Chu Kam Yin spoke to the press. About his fans singing, Wa Jai said that it was like a fan club event. Maybe everyone was looking forward to his concert. He also sad that in the past he would very rarely attend audience appreciation events in Hong Kong and meet the audience in close distance, which only became popular in recent years. The audience appreciation marathon two days ago made he feel like he was a new comer all over again. I DID IT MY WAY was Wa Jai produced. Tam Sin Yin admitted that she definitely had pressure. "Whether Wa Jai was in the scene or not, he would sit in front of the camera. He would always pay very close attention. During the table read he would give a lot of freedom. He has left quite an impression on me." Chu Kam Yin called Wa Jai Mr. Lau. He said, "Mr. Lau is strictly easy going and friendly. He makes no differentiation, at work everyone is like family." However Wa Jai revealed that when he got frustrated he would want to hit people and use foul language. "When frustrated I would want to hit people, but when friends in reporter shaped are around me, I would be told to watch myself with so many people around and pay attention to my image." He also said that as a producer he would not have a lot to do, so the job would not be too tough -- at least not as tough as being an actor. In addition with numerous group scenes, everyone would have their own line. However he did not want to be blamed for scenes being cut. Would Wa Jai direct next time? Wa Jai said that after his concert he would consider again. He even told Tam Sin Yin and Chu Kam Yin to get ready. As soon as he would have a decision he would give them the script. The film's story was related to the hidden dark net crimes. Would Wa Jai normally limit his daughter's online activities? He said, "They are very hard to manage, but even so I still have to. She has no social media account. For classes she would use the iPad, but she doesn't have a cell phone. She uses ours." Wa Jai in the film had more dramatic than action scenes. He admitted that his physical abilities were not what they used to be. He left the explosive action scenes to the young folks. At first he wanted to played the undercover role, but the director convinced him that playing the villain would be even more suitable. So he followed the suggestion and actually he rather enjoyed the villain. * (2024/01/13) The 17th Asian Film Awards would take place in Hong Kong on March 10th at the West Kowloon Cultural District's Xiqu Centre. Yesterday a press conference was held to announce the nominations. Last year's WHERE THE WIND BLOWS (FUNG JOI HEI SI) Best Actor Tony Leung Chiu Wai this year with THE GOLDFINGER (GUM SAU JI) was again nominated. TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES (NIN SIU YUT GEI)'s director Cheuk Yik Him and child actor Sean Wong Tsz Lok were respectively nominated for "Best New Director" and "Best Supporting Actor". Rachel Leung Yung Ting with IN BROAD DAYLIGHT (BAK YUT JI HA) was nominated for "Best Supporting Actress", while Tse Wing Yan with FLY ME TO THE MOON (DAN YUEN YUN CHEUNG GAU) was nominated for "Best New Actor". This year 35 films from 24 countries or regions would vie for film awards in 16 categories. Among the 35 nominated films, Hong Kong film THE GOLDFINGER received 3 nominations that included "Best Actor", "Best Art Direction" and "Best Costume Design". Again nominated for Best Actor, Leung Chiu Wai after receiving the good news responded, "Thank you to each Asian Film Awards voter, I am very honored to be nominated with such excellent actors!" TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES also received 3 nominations, including Sean Wong Tsz Lok for "Best Supporting Actor", Cheuk Yik Him for "Best New Director" and "Best Editing". IN BROAD DAYLIGHT's Rachel Leung Yung Ting was nominated for "Best Supporting Actress", and Tse Wing Yan with FLY ME TO THE MOON was nominated for "Best New Actor". Leung Yung Ting first thanked the event for recognizing her, she was very happy to be nominated. She sincerely thanked each and every person on the film's cast and crew, because the nomination belonged to everyone. Also because of their effort and professional contributions this character of "Siu Ling" was achieved. Yesterday Adam Pak Tin Nam and Many Tam Man Huen announced the nominations on the stage, along with other new generation actors Kevin Chu Pak Yin, Peter Chan Charm Man, Mak Pui Tung and Jessica Chan Yee Chun. The event announced the famous Japanese director Kiyoshi Kurosawa would be the jury chair. The youth ambassadors would be Taiwan actor Liu Kuan-ting, Hong Kong actor Will Or Wai Lam, Japanese Hio Miyazawa and Thai actor Mario Maurer. Guest Mak Pui Tung was last year's Best New Actor. He said that last year he participated as a nominee and was nervous. This year he finally was able to properly enjoy the event. Speaking of this year's nomination picks, Chan Charm Man was happy for TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES' director and actor nominees. Due to the strong competition, the nominations were already great! Speaking of work, Chan Charm Man revealed that he would promote for his Lunar New Year film TABLE FOR SIX 2 (FAN HEI GUNG SUM 2), while Mak Pui Tung would be busy with his play rehearsal. The play would begin its run next month and all shows have sold out. Pak Tin Nam just completed a movie in Europe and returned to Hong Kong, and the production opened his eyes. Mandy said that aside from having to promote her film, later she would also run a race. This would be her first race and she would ran the 10 kilometer. She hoped to be able to finish it within 15 minutes. "Because of the pandemic I had no job, so I started running. I thought it was a pretty way to reduce stress. Maybe next year I would participate in the half or the full marathon. (Would your boyfriend participate?) No, I will be fighting solo." Mandy revealed that on the stage she suddenly felt a running nose coming on. When she swallowed she finally realized that she had a bloody nose. She joked, "Maybe on the stage I was so nervous that my blood was raging, so much so that I had a bloody nose." Adam due to his poor Chinese had to ask Mandy on several occasion about the pronunciation. He thanked her for her help. "Normally when I read scripts I have to write pinyin, so before coming out I practiced. However the schedule was too tight, and I have never announced such a large scale award on stage. It was a honor, but I was very nervous." * (2024/01/12) The Louis Cheung Kai Chung and Stephy Tang Lai Yan starred Lunar New Year film TABLE FOR SIX 2 (FAN HEI GUNG SUM 2) earlier on its official site recruited "the most fortunate January newlyweds in history" and finally chose three couples. Ah Chung, co-stars Peter Chan Charm Man, Renci Yeung Sze Wing and others appeared at their wedding to send blessing to the new couples. Earlier they attended 3 wedding banquets in a row, one of the brides was asked if she could choose one more time, how would she choose? The bride with her quick wit said, "I want my husband's body, Ah Chung's intelligence, Chan Charm Man's speaking skills, and finally of course I want the director's screenwriting abilities!" This couple instead surprised Ah Chung with a birthday cake as the entire event sang birthday song to him. * (2024/01/12) The Felix Chong Man Keung written and directed, Wong Bun produced, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Andy Lau Tak Wa, Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin, Simon Yam Tat Wa, Alex Fong Chung Shun, Philip Keung Ho Man and others starred film THE GOLDFINGER in less than two weeks in Hong Kong release has already surpassed HK$ 28 million to become the 2023 Christmas and New York slot opening box office champion. Due to the length of the film, the Leung Chiu Wai played Ching Yat Yin and Ah Sa played Cheung Ka Man's firs meeting scenes were cut. Fortunately now the confidential video has been unveiled for the audience to further understood the character Cheung Ka Man. "Heaven blessed me with 'assets' so they definitely would have their uses" was Cheung Ka Man's motto. Why Ching Yat Yin without hesitation chose Cheung Ka Man to be his right hand also got a full answer. Working with Leung Chiu Wai for the firs time, Ah Sa joked that she felt like a dream has come true. "Before the official start when I found out this movie would have Leung Chiu Wai, I felt great. My dream all along came true just like this. At first I thought I would be very nervous, luckily I did all my research before hand. Very quickly I was able to get into the production mood; in addition Leung Chiu Wai truly is great; not only did he not put on air, but in order to break through the gap he even deliberately invited me and Bak Ji (Michael Ning) to his home to chat. He spent a lot of time to communicate and have exchanges with us." Ah Sa described, "THE GOLDFINGER gathered the best cast and crew, the shoot was beyond enjoyable. I myself am someone who would repeatedly think about how to do even better, but making this movie I didn't need to worry at all. I had the best co-stars to clearly tell me how to perform, so I was able to live in the moment. Whatever feeling I had, I just performed it." Meanwhile, Leung Chiu Wai also praised Ah Sa. "She is very hard working and focused, I thank her and a group of young actors' professionalism. They were able to smoothly complete THE GOLDFINGER production." Speaking of the confidential video in which Leung Chiu Wai needed to participated in a back alley beating and other stunts, he said, "In comparison to before, this time's action scenes were considered very easy as pie. Action director Chin Kar Lok and I have worked together before on 97' ACES GO PLACES, we already had chemistry long ago and this time the collaboration was rather pleasant." * (2024/01/11) The Andy Lau Tak Wa produced, Jason Kwan Chi Yiu directed film I DID IT MY WAY (CHIM HUNG) two nights go held a charity premiere at a Kowloon Tong shopping center. Producer and star Wa Jai led the cast that included Gordon Lam Ka Tung, Eddie Peng Yu-Yan, Cya Liu, Simon Yam Tat Wa, Kent Cheng Juk Si, Hedwig Tam Sin Yin, Kevin Chu Kam Yin and action director Chin Kar Lok to the premiere and attracted many fans to look on and fill the shopping center. The film at the mainland box office has exceed 300 million yuan RMB. As for the Hong Kong box office, Wa Jai looked forward to good box office for I DID IT MY WAY, good word of mouth, and praised Peng Yu-Yan as handsome and a good actor. Wa Jai spoke of his connection with the director and praised him for shooting his emotional scenes with a lot of details. Ka Tung mentioned that this time would already be the 18th time he has worked with Wa Jai and they already have great chemistry. As for Eddie who has not made a Hong Kong film in a long time, he said that he was very honored to work with all these good actors. Lead actors Cya said that this time playing a couple with Wa Jai felt very sweet. She said, "I hope everyone would like our movie, we can do it our way together." Wa Jai paid everyone an advanced Lunar New Year visit and said, "Happy New Year!" Cya Lu and Chu Kam Yin happened to both be born in January, so the event presented them with fresh flowers. The audience and the actors sang the birthday song to celebrate with the birthday kids. After the event ended, many female guests flocked to Wa Jai and Eddie for photos. Wa Jai was asked that whether the mainland box office of over 300 million yuan RMB would bring pressure to the Hong Kong box office. Wa Jai said yes, there would be pressure and he hoped the box office would be better. Ka Tung said that the more the better, but the word of mouth would be even more important. Earlier the film held many audience appreciation shows in the mainland. Would they have such arrangements in Hong Kong? Wa Jai said that they would depend on the distribution company, but the film on the opening day of the 11th would have audience appreciation shows. Although he ran to 10 audience appreciation events in the mainland, they did not feel tough. Ka Tung joked, "I changed my shoes already." Ho was the mainland audience response? Wa Jai said that the audience raved about the movie, then he pointed at Eddie and said, "He is handsome and responsible for the acting. (You are responsible for paying?) We are all responsible." With his "handsome responsibility", Eddie while promoting in the mainland was told by the host to "lose bachelorhood" soon. Eddie said that with a goal he definitely would be able to, he hoped to this year. However if he had to be cooler then he would have to say he would focus on work and be a little more casual. Did he have a girlfriend already? He said, "I have to focus on promoting." Wa Jai was asked why he did not introduce any girls to Eddie? Wa Jai joked, "I don't have anyone to introduce, where would I have opposite sex friends? I have never been a matchmaker either. It's not that I don't have properties, just not right for the two of them (Eddie and Ka Tung)." Which type of girls would Eddie like? He said that he would leave it to fate. "Because at my age I don't want too many choices, the most important would be being able to talk with each other. In this business it's very hard to meet the opposite sex, unless I leave this business then I would be able to meet girls. (Do you like the athletic type?) OK! Exercising is good, good for the health and the body. Liking to ski is good too." After that he said to the camera, "Everyone is welcome." Ka Tung was asked why he did not sing the theme song with Wa Jai. He said that Wa Jai asked him to, but he couldn't decide as he worried that it would affect everyone's view on the film. Wa Jai said, "Next time." As for Eddie he said that he has released a record before, so singing was okay. However after releasing a song last time he did not have any chance to sing again, thus he would work hard on being an actor. Wa Jai pointed out that he has heard Eddie sing and felt that he was decent. Eddie also said that he did not know whether he would attend any audience appreciation events, depending on whether he would have the opportunity to or not. Wa Jai also said that he has planned for the original team to work on another story, but the word of mouth would have to be good and the box office would have to be decent for this one. Cya Liu and Chu Kam Yin not only were both born in January but also in the same year. With his birthday on the 5th Chu Kam Yin said that world peace was his birthday wish, as well as finding true passion outside of acting. He said that on his actual birthday he had dinner and went shopping, getting three pairs of shoes and three jackets for himself. As for Cya Liu whose birthday would be on the 13th, she revealed that she would visit Quanzhou with friends. She said, "I have to take my birthday off, if I would have to work on my birthday I wouldn't be too happy. I have spent it at work before, but I couldn't do anything about that." Why not trying to find happiness at work? She said that they were different, she could relax on her time off; work could only bring a sense of achievement. As for birthday wish, she would like the most to be safe, happy; but finding a boyfriend she would leave to fate. She also joked that she wanted someone as excellent as Chu Kam Yin, which would be very hard to find. After the premiere, Wa Jai and the director led the cast into the cinema for audience appreciation. When the audience saw the team it was very excited. They also urged viewers to invite family and friends to watch as well and support Hong Kong films more. Later, Wa Jai, Ka Tung, Eddie and others all sat down and enjoyed I DID IT MY WAY with the audience.
