MISCELLANEOUS * (2025/09/10) Frederick Ma Si Heng's new talk show THE LION ROCK SPIRIT WITH FRED MA would premiere on ViuTV and Now TV this Saturday (13th). At yesterday's press conference, Michael Hui Koon Man, Yan Huichang, Wong Kam Po, Edward Li Kui Ming, and the guest host of the program, Anne Heung Hoi Lan also showed their support and warm up the program with the emcee Lawrence Cheng Tan Shui. Hui Koon Man called on Hong Kong people to work together and bravely overcome difficulties, "Hong Kong is our home, it would not fail; even if it would we would make it succeed!" With the subject of "Creation and Inheritance", the program invited Hui Koon Man, Wong Kam Po, Michael Kadoorie, Ma Wing Shing, Keung To, Yip Yuk-hong, James E. Thompson, Yan Huichang, Leung Ping-chung and Donnie Yen Chi Tan, 10 guests with excellent achievements in different walks of life, to have an in-depth dialogue, hoping to encourage this "Lion Rock Spirit" that represents Hong Kong people working together and work hard, to encourage this generation and pass it on to the next generation. At the press conference, the conference first broadcast a clip of ten guests reaching the top of the Lion Rock under AI synthesis, then Hui Koon Man shared his feelings with the emcee. Hui Koon Man believed that although the Lion Rock spirit seems to be "old-fashioned", all walks of life must grasp this spirit. He recalled that when he was a child, he lived in Diamond Hill. Because his family was poor, he and his younger brothers took a bath in the nearby water stream and picked sour dates to satisfy their hunger. Hui Koon Man emphasized that the spirit of Lion Rock is to "endure and know how to improvise"; seizing all opportunities is the strength that Hong Kong needs most today, as well as the spirit of the Lion Rock as Hong Kong people have been able to pass the test every time! "Just like the film market is sluggish, and with so many free film and television works that you can't watch them all, people won't be willing to spend money to watch them unless they 'would die from not watching it'. However in recent years, there have also been TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING) and THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI YUK). Hong Kong is our home. How can we say that our home is not successful, and even if it is not we can make it successful!" During his interview Hui Koon Man said that he just celebrated his 83rd birthday last Wednesday (3rd). He said that he would not grandly celebrate his birthday now, as he would already be very satisfied to be able to eat and celebrate his birthday as a family. As for his birthday wish, he hoped everyone would support Ma Si Heng's program and open up a new world and future for Hong Kong people. Because the program has a great title, this spirit is very suitable for the crisis that the world is in now. When asked when he would perform stand-up comedy again, he laughed and said that even if he would, it would just be messing around. He has been currently writing a comedy script that is 60% or 70% complete. The subject tended to be "mainstream" to ensure box office. Would he star? He joked that he was old and might not be able to sell the movie. He hoped to find young actors to star. As for using AI to co-perform his role, he emphasized that AI could not replace real actors as some would always be blessed by God. "Only God can achieve that, unless AI would be able to do what God does." * (2025/09/10) 73-year-old Law Mong participated in the movie GOOD GAME (JOOK DIN), but was absent from the promotional events earlier. He lost contact because his mobile phone was disconnected, which made people worry about his health. His co-star in the film, Andrew Lam Man Chung later said that the producer contacted Law Mong's family and learned that the reason for his disappearance was that his mobile phone was broken and needed to be repaired. Law Mong recently took the initiative to contact the media to report his safety. When asked about his health, he said: "I am okay, no problem!" He hurriedly hung up. The report said that he was very different from the talkative Law Mong in the past. Law Mong later contacted reporters and said that he would attend the promotional event of GOOD GAME on Sunday (14th), and his wife said that her husband was fine. Only in recent years he has become a man of few words and does not like to appear in public. The film company also said that it has made contact with Law Mong, and he agreed to participate in Sunday's promotional activities. * (2025/09/09) The Dante Lam Chiu Yin directed movie OPERATION HADAL held a friend preview screening the night before. The Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping Keung and his wife, Hong Kong Tourism Bureau Chairman Peter Lam Kin Ngok, Nick Cheung Ka Fai, Simon Yam Tat Wah and others all attended. Having worked closely with Lam Chiu Yin, Cheung Ka Fai said with a smile that even if a typhoon hit, he must support his old friend. "Otherwise I wouldn't even be considered a person." Lam Chiu Yin revealed that UNBEATABLE 2 planned to start filming early next year and announced that Peng Yuyan would return. Cheung Ka Fai hoped to make a new breakthrough, and Yam Tat Wah recommended himself to participate. Lam Chiu Yin said that every time he met Cheung Ka Fai they would never run out of topics to talk about. He even revealed that he would start filming the sequel to the classic movie UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN), Cheung Ka Fai admitted that this challenge far exceeded the first installment. "The movie was so influential back then, and the relationship and the growth process between the characters have long been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. Breaking through the previous work would be extremely difficult." Hera Chan Hiu Wah, Ben Yuen Wai Ho, Jeana Ho Pui Yu, etc. also showed up to support. When asked if Ka Fai would have to train hard again, he smiled and said, "I can do whatever you want, but I just can't train." Ka Fai explained that even he got back into shape, it would have lost freshness to the audience. He said, "What the audience appreciates is the inspirational spirit the movie conveys, which is also the most difficult place to break through. If I have to train, I can use AI with the current technology. Just find a big guy and put my head on it." Lam Chiu Yin jokingly said that if Ka Fai is unwilling to train, he would be a stand-in; but he would take a while to achieve results so he would not be able to make it in time to start filming this year. He hoped to make it happen early next year. As for whether Peng Yuyan would return to UNBEATABLE 2, Lam Chiu Yin said that he would definitely and has already informed him. Ka Fai joked, "Leave the matter of muscle training to Peng Yuyan." Yam Tak Wah said that he has not worked with director Lam Chiu Yin for many years, and he was also interested in participating in UNBEATABLE 2. He said, "If there is a suitable role I will definitely participate. I tried to gain 50 pounds before, and I tried to lose weight and train bigger when I was filming PTU, now I weigh less than when I was in PTU." Ho Pui Yu said that she has already recommended herself to director Lam Chiu Yin. What would be the bottom line of her performance? She smiled and said, "I am a person who can't get back to be thin from being fat, so I can't gain weight. Aside from shaving my head, I can do anything." Yam Tat Wah encouraged Ho Pui Yu when he heard this, believing that her shaved head would be very eye-catching. "Because she has a good silhouette, if she shaves her head she will be very Zen. She must be a role with a lot of character in the film." * (2025/09/09) The premiere of the movie THE REMNANT (NGOK YUN DONG DOH) was held under Typhoon Signal No. 3 the night before, stars Philip Keung Ho Man (Brother Hak), Cecilia Yip Tung, Fish Liew Chi Yu, Ling Man Lung, young actor So Tin Lok and director Mandrew Kwan Man Hin. Yip Tung played a confused single woman who lived in her own world in the film, often needing to be taken care of by the former mob boss turned laundry owner Brother Hak. She also revealed that she was deceived by the director when she took on the role. "The director told me at the beginning that the role was beautiful, but it turned out to be a different flavor." Brother Hak pointed out that Yip Tung's character was like "Tsim Sha Tsui Susie". Would the two have any romance? Yip Tung said that Brother Hak's role was like a butler, so she took advantage of his passion and enthusiasm. Yip Tung admitted that because of the inner complexity of the character, she often carefully pondered her acting skills during filming, so that she inadvertently "had a gloomy look". She apologized to Brother Hak on the spot, "Actually I am friendly. If I look gloomy to you, I'm sorry. You got me though, I don't just have a gloomy look to you. I have a gloomy face for everyone." Was Brother Hak frightened by Yip Tung's aura? He said, "No, I know she's getting into character." Earlier Yip Tung and Kenny Wong Tak Bun performed the play LEFT UNSAID. When Brother Hak heard this he immediately asked Yip Tung if he would have the opportunity to work with her on the stage. He joked, "When I saw Wong Tak Bun I was drooling, (stealing Wong Tak Bun's job?) Can't we work together?" Yip Tung joked, "That's great, I get to sit on your lap again." In addition, regarding her husband Louis Tan (Chan Kwok Fun)'s drastic weight loss, Yip Tung responded in a low-key manner with "Thank you for thinking of us." and did not want to talk more. Liew Chi Yu played the mother for the sixth time in the film, and praised the young actor So Tin Lok for being worldly. Their collaboration was pleasant. She admitted that she had no parenthood plan, and joked that her good sister Jennifer Yu Heung Ying has raised the standard of being a mother; she took great care of both her career and family. She also mentioned that she fell and injured her tail bone during filming earlier, and still felt pain when bending over. Both fatigue and poor posture would aggravate the old wound, but she was not sure whether it would affect fertility. Ling Man Lung also has no baby plan for the time being, as he would focus on career development. He revealed that he played a villain in the film, but because Brother Hak's aura was too strong he "could not stand it". He even asked Brother Hak to "lower his aura a little". He said that he had an action scene that required many takes because he was afraid of hurting Brother Hak, which made him feel deeply sorry. * (2025/09/07) Tai Bo, Amanda Lee Wai Man, Kuku So Tsz Yan and director Chow Yam Wing attended the movie FOR ALICE preview screening audience appreciation event yesterday. First time director Chow Yam Wing said that he paid HK$ 2.5 million to make the film. Because he encountered a midlife crisis, he wanted to do what he wanted to do. He took 7 years to complete the film plan. At first when he was writing the script he already had Tai Bo in mind, and he thanked him for making his dream happen. He said that he has brought this film to foreign festivals before and found that Tai Bo was one of the icons of Hong Kong. Many foreigners called him "Brother Tai Bo". Tai Bo said that his enthusiasm for film has not diminished over the years, and he would try his best to help when working with new directors. He believed that the amount of money spent on making movies was not important, the most important thing was to have heart. He hoped that the audience would support Hong Kong films more. He said that he was awarded the "Lifetime Achievement Award" when he went to New York to participate in the film festival. When he heard the emcee introduce him as being from Hong Kong, the entire audience applauded. The audience liked the film very much, which was a great encouragement for him. "I would never retire, I would keep going. I don't have the word retirement in my dictionary." Tai Bo had a broken family relationship with Lee Wai Man and So Tsz Yan in the film, with many hurtful parts. The scene in which his emotions erupted on the rooftop led to audience discussions. He said he was very happy and praised So Tsz Yan for being smart. For the spots that he advised her on, she was able to perform fully and her future would be unlimited. Was he worried about the box office? Tai Bo said, "Recently I have been working with (Jennifer) Yu Heung Ying and Chen Bo-lin, and today I participated in the audience appreciation activities. I am trying my best to do a good job of promoting." Lee Wai Man said that the director started in advertising and had a keen sense of beauty. This time she had the opportunity to play the role of a mother. She also played opposite Tai Bo and found filming an argument scene with So Tsz Yan in the middle of the night memorable. "By the middle of the night everyone was already sleepy, so we decided to warm up first, and then start filming when we got into the state." So Tsz Yan took on the filming of a feature film for the first time. Thanks to the guidance of the two elders, she felt that she has benefited a lot. She revealed that she only received the full script 72 hours after work started. She understood that the director and screenwriter strived for perfection, so they continued to improve the dialogue. They also were demanding of themselves, "In order not to disturb my family, I went to the park at 3 o'clock in the middle of the night to recite the dialogue to the empty bench, fantasizing about the plot and writing diaries for the character." * (2025/09/07) The e-sports inspirational movie GOOD GAME (JOOK DIN) held a role-playing preview screening yesterday, with director Leung Kwok Fai, actors Andrew Lam Man Chung, ANSONBEAN (Chan Ngai Sun), Amy Lo Wai Man and Fung So Bo attending and serving as judges to select the top three cosplay viewers. The 81-year-old "Sister Bo" Fung So Bo dressed up as a movie character from "Harry Potter" yesterday, while Lam Man Chung has just returned to Hong Kong from the mainland. He was not originally on the list of attendees, but he rushed over anyway. The team has tried to contact Law Mong, who played Sister Bo's husband in the film, to participate in the promotion. However he lost contact, and his phone was disconnected so he could not be contacted. At first Lam Man Chung still jokingly asked whether Law Mong was "broken up". Sister Bo said that she and Law Mong did not have any regular contact. Lam Man Chung then nonsensically asked if she angered Law Mong, and Sister Bo replied with a smile, "He is the one who scared me, he is so big, he is so strong. If he takes a stance you can't move him at all. He is very healthy during filming, and he has a lot of fun playing video games." Later, Lam Man Chung asked the film company for confirmation and learned that the producer has approached Law Mong's family through a third party and received a safety report, saying that his phone was broken and would be repaired when he returned to Hong Kong. "The producer has found someone around him, he just broke his phone. He's okay, don't worry." * (2025/09/06) Best Actress Jennifer Yu Heung Ying partnered with Taiwanese male god Chen Bo-lin in the new film SEE YOU MY DEAR (NUI YI²), which held a worship ceremony a few days ago. The film would revolve around Yu Heung Ying, Chen Bo-lin and young actor Hathy Law Hei Yi's "family of three", telling the heartwarming story of a couple who try to mend their relationship after experiencing family trauma. Yu Heung Ying admitted that the script deeply moved her. "The strength of family affection is always difficult to describe in words, and after becoming a mother I feel more deeply about the relationship between parents and children. I believe that this movie can be engaged and understood by both parents and children. I hope the movie will be available to everyone soon." * (2025/09/06) The Johnnie To Kei Fung produced and directed 2003 film PTU has been re-released with the 4K restored edition after over 20 years. The night before he led the actors in the film, Simon Yam Tat Wah, Maggie Shiu Mei Kei, Raymond Wong Ho Yin and Lam Suet to the cinema to attend a special screening and forum, recalling the unforgettable moments of making the film and announcing that half of the proceeds from the re-release would be donated to "Fresh Wave" to support the local film industry. To Kei Fung felt that the film industry is in a difficult time now. He was happy that people still appreciated his works more than 20 years later, and he has also been looking for different opportunities for the industry. He previously filmed a movie starring Anson Lo, which shot only 10 days in 3 years; he revealed that it would start production again. He was thin and said that he could not be too fat due to his high diabetes index. To Kei Fung commented on PTU at the forum, saying that it was a little immature. It had parts that were good and parts that fell short. After shooting THE MISSION (CHEUNG FOR) with a low budget of HK$ 2.5 million, he joked that making PTU with HK$ 3 million was quite a steal; he also said that there was no script during filming, so the production was very improvised. "I don't understand how Yau Nai Hoi could win the Best Screenplay Award. The younger generation should not learn from him, film productions should be prepared well in advance." He said that in addition to many improvisational scenes, there were also many details he liked projected into the film. Yam Tat Wah found the "rub it off" scene in the film unforgettable, and wanted to apologize to the actor who played the Wise Guy role. Because he strongly slapped him at the time, he could not bear it. He described it as resembling an alternative violent aesthetics performance, the feeling was quite shocking. The filming time spanned more than 3 years. To Kei Fung found that Shiu Mei Kei gained a lot of weight back then, so he ordered her to lose weight. Shiu Mei Kei had to lose weight quickly in a short period of time. Lam Suet found wrapping his head in gauze unforgettable, for the sake of continuity the bandage was used for 3 years and the smell was overwhelming. While shooting the first and last scenes of "stepping on banana peels" and falling to the ground, he shot one of them 48 times and dropped until his back hurt. When he mentioned it again he quickly burst into foul language and made the audience laugh. Wong Ho Yin laughed at himself for being confused in acting back then. Because he imitated the usual movements of PTU, he deliberately put his hands on his waist and was ridiculed for being too stiff and not knowing how to move. To Kei Fung and Lam Suet took jabs at each other from time to time; Yam Tat Wah teased Lam Suet again, saying that now he was so fat that he could not even tie his shoelaces. When Lam Suet heard he immediately bent over to prove that he could do it. Everyone was interviewed afterwards and To Kei Fung was asked how he would compensate Lam Suet for falling 48 times? He pointed out that Lam Suet wasted a lot of film, and should him compensate for it. Shiu Mei Kei admitted that she gained weight back that and immediately worked hard to lose weight in more than a week, as she worried that the director would recast. Would there be a chance to film with the original cast again? Yam Tat Wah said, "Although everyone has reached this age, we are still in good condition and look forward to it with a very hungry mood." They said in unison that they did not require a script, and Wong Ho Yin believed that improvisation would not be a problem now. To Kei Fung said that making a movie now has been different from before, facing difficulties in all aspects. He was glad that a work was still appreciated after more than 20 years, fortunately the five of them were still alive after many years. He revealed earlier that he would film again, but not too soon. His current state of mind has been different. He is older, and his ability would not be as good as that of filming PTU in his 40s. He was invited to Hokkaido, Japan last month to be the guest of honor to throw out the opening pitch at a baseball event. He excitedly said that he had been practicing pitching for the event for more than a week and found it not easy. He also praised the beautiful scenery of the area, so he would consider going there to shoot on location. He said that he liked soccer, but Stephen Chow Sing Chi made a movie about the sport. He estimated that everyone liked to watch Chow Sing Chi's more than his works. Lam Suet heard and joked that he could recommend himself to play a weightlifter. Due to his size his health has become concerning. Lam Suet said that there was no problem. "I would also hold concerts and can sing for more than two hours. I can't dance and sing, but I can just play cute. I have no skills in singing but I am full of emotion, and my drinking songs include I LEFT SADNESS TO MYSELF and UNDERSTANDING." To Kei Fung lost a lot of weight. He said that due to his high diabetes index, he should not be too fat and should exercise more. He has been preparing to collaborate with Tony Leung Chiu Wai on a movie, and the previous film starring Anson Lo Hon Ting has not yet been completed. Would he spend 3 years on filming like he did with PTU? He said that he shot for 10 days in 3 years, but work would start again. To Kei Fung said that in recent years he has been looking for different opportunities. Now the platform is very important, and it should work with different regions and units. Everyone has to live, and many people have to work. Would he start filming ELECTION 3 (HAK SEH WUI 3)? He said, "This again? How should I say it, this is Hong Kong, speak carefully. Yes, but I don't know when." * (2025/09/05) Grace Chan Hoi Lam, Tony Wu Tsz Tung, ERROR member Dee Ho Kai Wah, P1X3L members Marco Ip Chun Won, Winki Lai Wai Ling, her husband and son went to the exhibition to enjoy the fashion show the night before. Chan Hoi Lam's older son is entering the first year of primary school and assigned to her husband Kevin Cheng Ka Wing's former school. She revealed that on the school's orientation day, she took the initiative to "give tickets (get contacts)" to other parents to facilitate contact. She also had to take a Chinese reading comprehension test on the same day, and she was stumped with her limited Chinese. When Wu Tsz Tung was filming TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING), Philip Wu Wan Lung kicked him in the chin. He had more than 10 stitches and left a scar. However the fight scene did not leave any trauma on him, and joked that he looked forward to hitting Ng Wan Lung back in the next film. Director Soi Cheang Pou oi recently revealed in an interview that while working on a fight scene for the film TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN, Wu Tsz Tung was severely injured and almost died. Wu Tsz Tung explained that in that scene he and Philip Ng Wan Lung fought. When he was about to take a kick to the chest, his chin was hit immediately. He was suddenly bleeding profusely and the director after checking his injuries ordered him to be rushed to the hospital for treatment, and he received over 10 stitches. "At the time I didn't feel any pain. After resting for an afternoon, I insisted on returning to the set to finish the remaining scenes. I relied on the make up artist to cover up the wound. Now a scar is left on the chin." He said that no one wanted accidents to happen, and Ng Wan Lung originally planned to buy him a cup of bubble tea for each stitches he received to compensate, "But you can't drink that too much, I only drank 3 cups. Now I have a scar on my chin, but it's okay; I'm still handsome." Wu Tsz Tung said that the fight scene did not traumatize him and looked forward to the next fight scenes to beat up Ng Wan Lung. He revealed that he has begun training with Raymond Lam Fung for TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: THE FINAL CHAPTER (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI JUNG JEUNG). * (2025/09/05) The Stephen Chow Sing Chi directed WOMEN'S SOCCER has been in post production. Because of massive amounts of special effects to be done, for the always highly demanding Chow Sing Chi it absolutely would not be easy. He recently took the time from his busy schedule for a "side hustle". In recent years movie flash cards have become popular in the mainland. The Chow Sing Chi starred movie THE CHINESE ODYSSEY film series would also launch movie flash cards. A few days ago he signed the "special edition". "Sing fans" have commented that they would fight over them, and some online commented that they hoped that Chow Sing Chi would perform in front of the screen again. * (2025/09/04) The Ronald Cheng Chung Kei written directed and starred movie ATONEMENT (AH LUNG) was released yesterday, 7 years after filming completed. Two nights ago he attended the premiere, and was happy that the work was released. He denied that the release delay for several months was related to the divorce, and avoided talking about whether the marriage change involved the former manager Ho Hing Sheung, only saying that the divorce from Sammie Yu Sze Man was handed over to a lawyer to handle, and that the children were in decent condition recently. He was not too worried about the outcome of the trial, saying that the only worry now was the box office of the new film. 24 Herbs member Brian Lee Hoi Yin responded to him talking about the health of his group mate Conroy Chan Chi Chung and upset Chan's wife Josie Ho Chiu Yi. She said that he had talked to Ho Chiu Yi in private; there was a misunderstanding in the middle, but everyone were still friends. The premiere of the Cheng Chung Kei and Mark Wu Yiu Fai co- directed ATONEMENT was held the night before. Cheng Chung Kei shared the production highlights with Chau Sau Na and Keung Ho Man. Cheng Chung Kei explained that ATONEMENT must be approved for release, and the version has been trimmed nearly 20 times. He was frustrated. Now it could finally be released, he feels very happy. Mainly scenes that were too violent were removed. ATONEMENT was originally scheduled for release in April this year, but in March Cheng Chung Kei and his wife Sammie Yu Sze Man were reported to have a change om their marriage, and the screening date was postponed. Regarding the movie being accused of being postponed due to his divorce, Cheng Chung Kei went "wow" and said, "No way!" Chau Sau Na and Keung Ho Man said that the movie was affected by the novel corona pandemic and inspection issues. Cheng Chung Kei and Yu Sze Man appeared in the family court earlier for their divorce, and it was said that he stopped working and lost weight because of this. Cheng Chung Kei said that his mood was OK, he has kept working and planned to make a new supernatural comedy with Wu Yiu Fai. When asked about the divorce, he said, "It will be handed over to a lawyer, and I don't know when there will be a verdict." Cheng Chung Kei said that he was not too worried, and the only thing he was concerned with at the moment was the box office of ATONEMENT. How were his children? He said, "They're pretty good," As for the allegation that the divorce from Yu Sze Man was related to former manager Ho Hing Sheung, he avoided the subject and said, "Today let's talk about the movie!" Cheng Chung Kei said that he has attended preview screening audience appreciation activities. He saw that the audience was very tense from watching and collected a lot of opinions. The story subject was tragic. During the shoot he gave his all to the performance, stressing that this film would only serve as a reminder for parents and not made to win awards. He joked, "I will definitely apply for the Hong Kong Film Awards, whether it will win or not it is another matter; to each its own." He got hemorrhoids from working on this film, would he not want to get anything in return? Cheng Chung Kei said, "If I win the award because of hemorrhoids, I would feel embarrassed." They planned to meet for dinner later to celebrate. Chau Sau Na publicly promised that with good box office results, she would not mind repaying the audience with swimsuit photo on social platforms. "Because after filming in Thailand, I stayed for a holiday and collected a lot of photos. Would wearing a bikini be very bold? It depends on everyone's opinions." Cheng Chung Kei and Keung Ho Man said that they would not mind showing off their muscles and would work hard to get in shape, but now they only have one pack of abdominal muscles. A member of the group 24 Herbs, Brian Lee Hoi Yin in order to support previous collaborator Chau Sau Na wholeheartedly supported the show. He hoped that he and Cheng Chung Kei would be able to have exchanges in movies and music in the future, and even offered his services to perform in his new films. He attended the event earlier and talked about the condition of his group mate Chan Chi Chung, saying that Chan went to the United States for surgery that went smoothly and was recuperating. 24 Herbs was also planning for a show at the end of the year, and Chan Chi Chung should be OK to participate by then. The report supposed upset Chan Chi Chung's wife Josie Ho Chiu Yi, who posted on social platforms to say that someone was using his brother to promote. Speaking of Ho Chiu Yi's dissatisfaction, Lee Kai Yin said that they have come in contact. "We have talked in private and we are okay. We are still friends and I respect them. I think there was a misunderstanding in the middle, maybe they misunderstood the information they received. I am not mad; because it is a misunderstanding, no one has any motivation or intent. A misunderstanding is a misunderstanding, and it won't affect the relationship between brothers." He said that 24 Herbs has a group for them to communicate with each other. Like everyone else, they cared about Chan Chi Chung's physical condition and will send positive messages to wish him all the best. As for whether 24 Herbs will perform in December, Lee Hoi Yin said that in his personal capacity, it is still planned and has not yet been implemented. He hoped to get everyone's support. * (2025/09/04) The project selected from the first season of the Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers' Keep Rolling scheme, THE REMNANT (NGOK YUN DONG DOH) has been scheduled for release on September 11th. New director Mandrew Kwan Man Hin directed and wrote the film that starred Philip Keung Ho Man, Fish Liew Chi Yu, Cecilia Yip Tung, and Ling Man Lung. Keung Ho Man played the role of "Brother Tie", a retired mob boss who ran a laundromat in the old district and lived an ordinary life. Yet when he encountered gangsters who bullied the residents of an old building, he found it difficult to simply stand by. In an interview with the media, Keung Ho Man said that actually this time he played an old neighbor who was no longer hostile, but he still had a series of fights to seek justice. In a red paint spilling scene, the shoot had a slippery floor and a lot of physicality. When he fought he had to give the impression of being less than agile due to age. In the end he had some scrapes and bruises, but he had a lot of fun from the fight. Ling Man Lung laughed and pointed out that since he performed in TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY (WONG GUM FA), he often "killed" people. This time the director also took a fancy to his kind appearance and asked him to show a rich second generation who embarked on a path of evil as he resisted his father's oppression. Although he has often played villains in recent years, he was still happy to have different roles for him to try. He thanked the directors for giving them the opportunity. Man Lung also mentioned that he was very happy to work with Keung Ho Man this time, and the two were opposing each other in good and evil. Yet when filming a scene where they cut each other, he felt guilty about dragging Keung Ho Man into bad takes many times. Man Lung pointed out that he came from a stage play background, was and usually used to stage fighting for action scenes. "Every time I got into a performance, I was used to stabbing the knife to the side instead of the middle; but on the movie set the camera would turn. Finally the trick was ruined and the scene had to be reshot. After several takes I still couldn't change my habit. Even I slapped myself and scolded, 'Bad hand!'. Because even using a fake knife was still hard and forceful, I even made Brother Hak say, 'Just stab me! I can take it!'." Playing a single mother in the film, Liew Chi Yu only had dramatic scenes but still got hurt. She smiled bitterly and said, "In one scene Kumer (So Wai Chuen) violated her. Actually there wasn't much physicality, but after I sat straight down too hard I had to see a doctor about the tailbone. Then the team had to file a claim with the insurance company. The team was very thoughtful, as it had insurance and a stunt team to guide me; but I was too clumsy. Now I also have some side effects, I still have some problems with bending over!" She also had man smoking scenes in the film. "When we made TABLE FOR SIX (FAN HEI GUNG SUM), (Dayo) Wong Tze Wah once criticized my smoking as unconvincing. Later I learned to smoke, I realized that after learning a new skill I kept having these opportunities. However I would only smoke when the role required me to." Speaking of working with child stars in the film, Liew Chi Yu praised her on screen son So Tin Lok for being well-behaved and professional. He was 9 years old at the time of filming, and he is now in secondary school. She remembered that when they collaborated, he often hugged her and was very "naturally familiar". While brewing emotions before filming, he would not disturb her. He would play with them at the right time, and was really well-behaved. Keung Ho Man also said that So Tin Lok was very thoughtful and sent cards to everyone after filming. He pointed out that many children actually liked to play with him and were not intimidated by his serious appearance. Keung Ho Man had many scenes with Vincent Wan Yeung Ming, Deon Cheung Chung Chi and Yip Tung and said that he was also happy to work with Yip Tung. Although she had an aura, it was not the intimidating kinds but that they could happily complete a scene together. Everyone has talked, laughed and had a few drinks after work. He laughed and pointed out that Yip Tung's character in the film was often drunk, but he did not know if she also drank for real during filming. "I am very happy. I haven't seen them in a very long time, especially Wan Yeung Ming. We didn't work together much before, but he still treats the younger generations very well; giving a lot of advice and analyzing how to perform." Keung Ho Man admitted that he preferred to work with new directors, because they did not know what type of actor he was and would be able to give him an new ideas. "I like to be tuned by the director on the set. Ultimately it's the director's work, as long as the director says it's OK it's OK." Liew Chi Yu has been working with Keung Ho Man since the film SISTERHOOD (GWUT MUI), and has had many opportunities to act together in the past 8 years. She felt that while he remained cool, she was no longer a young girl and had to accept that the fact that she has become a "woman". Keung Ho Man joked, "She is a woman, but I have turned into a grandpa!" She even said that she liked to work with Keung Ho Man, "Because I love to be funny, but no one pays attention to me; only Brother Hak would laugh. I think he is nice, this team has created a lot of chemical reaction. I am very happy when I do something right." She laughed at herself for being funny but the rhythm was wrong, "It made me into a joke, but I want people to laugh at the joke instead of laughing at me!" Large-scale protests by the populace have been brutally suppressed. This mix of documentary, fiction, and visions of the future reveals the current state of desolate depression among the people of Hong Kong. Some still burn with righteous fire, while others are disillusioned or have been bought off by the system. Injustice has reigned over the quiet town of Shek O in Hong Kong. Chu Po is a young masked vigilante out to help those in need and kick a baddie’s ass. Fate draws her to a local church infested with illicit drug-dealing activities. She soon realizes her connection to that church is more personal than expected as there's a link to her family's past. Should she simply stay in the shadows and pray for a miracle, or put her karate chops to good use? An rejuvenated ode to both THE KARATE KID and the action heroines of Hong Kong's Golden Age, the latest from director Ricky Ko after his award-winning TIME (Fantasia 2021) once again nicely combines nostalgia and modernity with a potent mix of martial arts, humour, sweetness, and compelling characters, OUT OF THE SHADOW offers a guaranteed good time, a reminder of why we love HK movies so much in the first place. Starring several rising stars from Hong Kong, including two actors reunited after Fantasia favourite PORT OF CALL (2015), OUT OF THE SHADOW is fresh off several Asian festivals, and makes its first stopover in the West at Fantasia before it hits its home territory this fall. – King-Wei Chu [ OASKA ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL 2024 ] Chu Po is a sprightly teenage girl with a strong sense of justice but her mother, Tao Kuen Ying, would rather they keep a low profile in the fishing town of Tai O. No. 4's client, a young woman with a personal vendetta against the city’s most notorious crime syndicate, ropes him into becoming her unwitting accomplice in a game of revenge that leaves them both out of their depth with a bounty on their heads. As their relationship evolves from professional to personal, they are left with no choice but to fight side by side if they are to survive the next 72 desperate hours. Wearing his influences proudly on his sleeve, first-time director NJO steers a classic gun-toting tale of heroic bloodshed into a head-on collision with a sleek, katana-wielding crime story of honour, betrayal, camaraderie, and vengeance. Drenched in neon and buffed to a shimmering polish, ROAD TO VENDETTA owes an inescapable debt to the works of John Woo, Johnnie To, Kinji Fukasaku, and Takashi Miike, even as it doffs its cap to the Hollywood homages—from KILL BILL to JOHN WICK—that have forged this path ahead of it. The result is a composed and enthralling calling card from an emerging new talent, paired with an agile, unflinching leading man, who together make an unstoppable pair. (JAMES MARSH) [ CINEMA CITY ] In Asia, a mysterious assassin organization operates under the guise of a noodle shop hidden in a bustling city, serving as a haven for killers. Assassin No. 4, orphaned at a young age and raised in the noodle shop, is sent to Japan to eliminate a yakuza boss. However, he is unexpectedly ambushed by his client, a Japanese girl seeking revenge. To exact her vengeance, she spares no expense in hiring the assassin and attempts to enlist No. 4 in her grand revenge plan, only for their actions to inadvertently provoke a relentless pursuit by the yakuza, putting both their lives in danger...
