MISCELLANEOUS * (2025/06/18) Stephen Chow Sing Chi (Sing Yeh) has been busy filming the new film WOMEN'S SOCCER in recent months, and the cast was rumored to include Dilraba, Zhang Xiaofei, Lay Zhang Yixing, Sisley Choi Si Bui and South Korean actor Song Kang-Ho. Carina Lau Ka Ling uploaded a photo with Chow Sing Chi on social platforms yesterday. The two played husband and wife in the 1996 movie FORBIDDEN CITY COP (DAI NOI MUK TAM LING LING FAT). In the group photo Chow Sing Chi wrapped his arms around Lau Ka Ling and put his head on her shoulder. Lau Ka Ling posted one of the classic dialogues of FORBIDDEN CITY COP. "Are you hungry? I'll cook some noodles for you!" The collective memories of many online were evoked. * (2025/06/18) P1X3L member George Au Chun Ho and Alice Hui Bo Hung attended a telecommunications event yesterday. Au Chun Ho revealed that he planned to travel to Japan with his parents and sister at the end of the year. Would he cover the cost of the entire trip? Au Chun Ho hoped so but denied that it was because he was making a lot of money; it was rare for the family to find time to travel together. "I have been busy with work in recent years. I haven't traveled with my family for a few years, so I look forward to it." George said that he has been busy recently with his film VALLEY IN THE SHADOW OF DEATH (BUT SEH JI JUI) audience appreciation events. The record of which was visiting 10 shows in a day, and he was very happy to see all the shows were sold out. VALLEY's screenplay consultant Sunny Chan Wing Sun earlier posted on social platforms, citing that when he was one of the judge on KING MAKER II early on, he had an extremely poor impression of George. 6 years later seeing him at work with the greatest respect, he has obviously grown. George admitted that after reading the post he took a deep look at himself. "I am grateful to him for witnessing my growth all along, from the then punk kid to now an artist who treats work seriously. I am very honored to have his post about me! His disgust for me back then was normal. When I watched my competition videos I despised myself. At the time I didn't understood what respect was. After getting into the business, I have accumulated some stage experience and observed the elders. I realized that to make an exciting performance, I had to contribute a lot of effort off stage." George said that tomorrow night he would support his P1X3L group mate Phoebus Ng Kai Yeung's musical THE 18, 28 and 38. Hui Bo Hung was asked if she would support Phoebus, who she has been linked to previously. She said that earlier she and Yoyo Kot Cheuk Yiu have already attended. She praised Phoebus for his exciting performance and the story was very touching, as many viewers were moved to tears. * (2025/06/18) Patrick Tam Yiu Man (Brother Tam) and young actor Locker Lam Ka Hei recently spoke to the press about their Hong Kong-made film FIGHT FOR TOMORROW (PING MING SAM LONG). Brother Tam and Locker met and communicated before filming, which both thought was very useful for the film as they did not need to spend more time to mesh. Locker said that he felt relieved and comfortable working with Brother Tam for the first time. Brother Tam said that he learned from young people, and he did not want to fall behind after more than 30 years in the industry. He thought that he should be open up himself more and accept new things. The Chan Tai Lee written and directed, Edmond Wong Chi Wun produced film FIGHT FOR TOMORROW told the story of Shek Sam Long (Tam Yiu Man), an over the hill mob boss who made a living as a parking valet after his prison release. Because he spoke up for his brothers he ended up at the police station, and even ran into his estranged son Shek Tau (Lam Ka Hei). Learning that Shek Tau crossing a mob boss' son, he decided to resolve the dispute on his son's behalf and thus ran into a former brother he tangled with. Firmly believing that as long as he worked hard he would always have a bright future, in the incident of the father paying his son's debt he unexpectedly made a comeback. His son re-acquainted with his father, was inspired by his father and determined to develop in the boxing world. Two generations fight for tomorrow in a troubled times. Brother Tam and Locker played father and son for the first time. The two were asked how they enhanced their father-son relationship. Brother Tam said with a smile that because the relationship between father and son at the beginning of the film has not been repaired, the two sides should have a little distance and should not communicate too much before filming. However Brother Tam did something for Locker this time that he has never tried in his movie career -- asking Locker to come out to meet and talk. Invited by his elder, Locker described the feeling as very good like talking to a friend. "Brother Tam asked me to really talk about it, but we didn't talk about the movie and the story as soon as I came. We talked a little about life, how I got into the business. I also gossiped about what he was like then, but we didn't get too deep." Stopping at right time was just in line with the father-son relationship between the two in the early part of the plot. Their further exchanges were about their preferences and thoughts on the film. Brother Tam said that he was more introverted, but this time he took the initiative to ask Locker because he subconsciously wanted to play the father and son roles well. He just took the first step as the elder. In the film Locker played a young man who was confused about life. Has he encountered a period of confusion in reality? Locker bluntly said that he did after entering the industry. "The role is really different from me. I am a person who has to have goals and plans to do things, but the state of confusion happened after I entered the industry. I wanted to be an actor and act, I was confused before the opportunity came. I thought what would I do if I don't have any role? I was anxious and worried." Locker said that he had a part-time job to make ends meet, but after a long time he felt that he was getting farther and farther away from the entertainment industry. He thought about giving up, but fortunately he was asked to perform in movies one after another. With a less than smooth journey to stardom, has Brother Tam shared his mental journey? Brother Tam believed that Locker has read reports about him, and praised the younger generation for their high emotional quotient. Instead he has learned from young people. "Compared to my generation, we were very stubborn. After we fell we wouldn't know what to do. Perhaps we weren't very willing to get into touch with the industries outside. Today's young people are very energetic and flexible, and they know that what they are doing. So they inspire me to cope with the current era." In the industry for more than 30 years, Brother Tam refused to fall behind. He felt that he should be open up himself more and accept new things and concepts. He joked, "One possibility that I haven't been 'out' is that I'm afraid of hearing people sticking to the old ideas. Old School doesn't work, which just happens to be how the character is like." In order to immerse himself in the aura of the role of the boss past his prime, Brother Tam wanted to triple his midlife crisis. He did not shy away from saying that the midlife crisis in reality did not come from his family, but because he still had pursuits in his career. "It's because I don't know that how to keep going, but I have been making movies nonstop. Of course they were not as much as before." Brother Tam admitted that he had hopes for the role "Shek Sam Long", but he still had a casual mentality for awards. Performing hard in the film, Locker bluntly said that as an actor of course he wanted to win awards and be recognized. Would he like the father and son to win awards together? Brother Tam said, "That would be the best." * (2025/06/18) Patrick Tam Yiu Man (Brother Tam), Locker Lam Ka Hei, Mark Cheng Ho Nam and others starred in the movie FIGHT FOR TOMORROW (PING MING SAM LONG), which held its premiere the night before and attracted many friends in the circle. They included Alice Chan Wai, Catherine Chau Ka Yee, Angela Tong Ying Ying, etc. Recently announced to be a father again, Aaron Kwok Fu Sing appeared in the finale and became the focus. Sing Sing came to the scene to support Tam Yiu Man, the two hugged each other as soon as they met and could not be friendlier. However originally proudly claimed to inquire about Sing Sing's baby gender on behalf of the media, Brother Tam was embarrassed to "gossip" in public. After Sing Sing learned about it, he spread his arms with a smile and said humorously, "Even I don't know!" Brother Tam put his hands together and went to one knee to thank Sing Sing for coming to support the event, which made the audience laugh. Before Sing Sing arrived, Brother Tam and his on screen son Locker spoke to the media. He revealed that the new film that will be released soon. In addition to FIGHT FOR TOMORROW, he also worked with Sing Sing on MY FIRST OF MAY (MO MING JI). Brother Tam even said that if the box office would exceed HK$ 10 million, he would remove the shirt to thank the audience. However he would need to train his abdominal muscles two weeks in advance. Locker said that when the box office would reach HK$ 5 million, he would release the never-before-seen muscle photos. However Brother Tam joked that he "lacked sincerity". Cheng Ho Nam appeared in a white suit. The reporter joked that his charm was unstoppable. First he was rumored to have a new love, and dozens of people rushed to the stage to surround him on stage earlier. Not only did he get a bear hug from male fans, but also he forced kisses and marriage proposals from female fans. He bluntly said that he often encountered similar situations, "The event in Xian had 20 security guards that day, but 50 people rushed over so it was actually very dangerous. (Did he get "lucky" from forced kisses?) There were more than one sister, but several. I pushed them all away, trying to keep my innocence. I absolutely wasn't taken advantage of!" Speaking of the rumored new love, he clarified that she was just a colleague and emphasized that he was still single. Earlier he attended Anita Lee Yuen Wah's dinner with the same person. After experiencing a divorce, he admitted that he still had some trauma and the injuries he has suffered have not yet recovered. He is now focusing on filming, taking care of his parents and children. "I just raised the children. Originally I was in negotiation for a new film, but I couldn't work out the schedule because I have to return to Canada to take care of my parents." Locker spoke about being an "assistant" earlier and going to the market with his girlfriend Marf Yau Yin Tung to collect presents. Did he get paid? He pointed out that they were more about heart than money, sometimes they would take turn to be each other's assistant. His girlfriend would attentively shoot videos for him on the field. After two years together they still have not considered marriage as work came first for them. Speaking of her just turning 23, Locker said that he gave her a cat shaped birthday cake and a homemade birthday card to her that day. She was jumping for joy. Would he have to grab tickets for COLLAR's concert in August? Locker joked, "I don't know if he would get to be an assistant, let me ask first!" * (2025/06/17) Director Jonathan Li Tsz Chun and screenwriter Chow Man Yu after DUST TO DUST (DAI BAK GOR YIM YI YUN) worked together again in BEHIND THE SHADOWS (SI GA JING TAM). This time the two co-directed, Li Tsz Chun believed that Chow Man Yu could fill his blind spots. Even with arguments their relationship was not harmed, the most important thing was to achieve a consensus on filming. The two praised Louis Koo Tin Lok (Goo Jai) as a good boss and actor, giving advice in the process and willing to respect their practices. Even if it was a reshoot, he was willing to cooperate. BEHIND THE SHADOWS was released during the cold winter of the film industry, and the cumulative box office was only HK$ 1.83 million in the first 4 days (as of the 15th). The two directors believed that each movie has its own life. Li Tsz Chun said, "When I entered the industry in 2000 and I already encountered a cold winter. I believe that the film industry will survive the cold winter, don't be so pessimistic." Entering the industry in 2013, Chow Man Yu joked that he has always been facing the cold winter and did not know what spring felt like. The most important was to do his part well, as there would be always be a chance for survival. Li Tsz Chun thought that his partner Chow Man Yu had a lot of ideas, and it was an advantage to have a lot of opinions during production. "Last time I directed and he wrote the screenplay. He saw some blind spots on the set, which helped me a lot and everyone had a lot of sparks. So I wanted to try co-directing to see what new sparks would come out, although there may be arguments." He admitted that everyone argued during filming, whether it is the pre-production creation and character depiction, as well as the requirements for the visuals during the shoot, everyone has different opinions but their relationship was not harmed. The most important thing was to be willing to talk and reach a consensus on how to shoot. The most intense discussion between Li Tsz Chun and Chow Man Yu was when Goo Jai learned that the Liu Kuan Ting played police officer was the real culprit. He was worried about the personal safety of his wife Chau Sau Na, so he tried to persuade her to leave Malaysia temporarily and quarreled; at which time Liu Kuan Ting suddenly came to the door. Chau Man Yu said, "Whether Liu Kuan Ting should enter the house or not, I think he should be because the house is the place people feel the safest in. When someone enters the house, it is like being stabbed in the heart with a knife; but Li Tsz Chun and Goo Jai both think that it is better for Liu Kuan Ting to stand outside the door. Finally they used my proposal, but after filming and watching it I began to understand their thoughts. Goo Jai pressed the door with one hand, not letting anyone come in and hurt his wife. The feeling was even stronger." He tossed and turned all night, and the next day he mustered up the courage to propose a reshoot to Goo Jai. Goo Jai went "huh" and said, "We are in big trouble!" but did not refuse. Li Tsz Chun smiled and said, "I was afraid to tell Goo Jai, fortunately Chow Man Yu opened his mouth first." In the film Goo Jai, Chau Sau Na, Raymond Wong Ho Yin, Renci Yeung Sze Wing and Eddie Cheung Siu Fai are all familiar faces to Hong Kong audiences, so why did he cast Taiwanese actor Liu Kuan Ting to play the role of Chan Hong Man? Li Tsz Chun said that he has always paid attention to Liu Kuan Ting's performances, and his favorite movies starring him were A SUN and CLASSMATES MINUS. Two different interpretations were very well grasped, had a lot of tension and potential. Li Tsz Chun said, "I thought Lau Kuan-ting's eyes are very suitable for this role and producer Cheang Pou Soi agrees, so I tried to contact him. He said yes as soon as he read the script." Li praised Liu's professionalism. When he felt that he has not done a good enough job during the shoot, even though they have already accepted the take, he would ask if he could try another take. "It really makes a difference, so I appreciate his pursuit of performance very much." The screenwriter as well, Chow Man Yu felt that BEHIND THE SHADOWS was filmed in Malaysia, which was a multicultural society with different languages. It was reasonable and fresh to have actors from outside Hong Kong to participate in the performance. Liu Kuan Ting looked mild mannered, but he achieved what I asked for -- the feeling of hidden danger behind his smile and love turned into hatred." They were initially worried that the Malaysian staff would not adapt to the rhythm and mode of filming in Hong Kong, but after 7 days together they all adapted to it. They were very diligent, and they had no complaints about long and intensive shoot. The collaboration was pleasant. Directing for the first time, Chow Yu Man did not dare to say whether he was competent or not. He only felt that being a director was very tiring. "When I was filming action scenes in DUST TO DUST (DAI BAK GOR YIM YI YUN) I could sleep peacefully, but I couldn't as the director this time; I had to follow the whole process." He revealed that Goo Jai would call him at 4 a.m. to talk about a certain scene the next day. Sometimes they would talk until daylight. Hong Kong films are in a cold winter, as cinemas are closing one after another. Were they worried about the box office? Li Tsz Chun said that he was not worried, believing that every film has its own life. They have fulfilled their responsibilities. "When I entered the industry in 2000, it was already a cold winter. Piracy was rampant. Everyone was actively exploring the mainland market, and the output of Hong Kong films was steadily rising; but now the mainland market is sluggish, and the output of Hong Kong films is gradually declining. I believe it is cyclical. The film would definitely be able to tough out the cold winter and reach new heights again. In difficult times you should store scripts, stick to creative ideas, be prepared for when the opportunity comes. Then you can step out. Don't be so pessimistic. BEHIND THE SHADOWS has Malaysian funding, but in fact, many countries or regions have film funding schemes, including Hong Kong." Entering the industry in 2013, Chow Man Yu also believed that the film industry will survive the cold winter. He said with a smile that he has always been facing the cold winter, as the first film he directed has not been smooth. "At the time director Wong Ching Po likes to take the alternative genre, which kept investors at bay so no movie went into production. I didn't have a spring when I entered the industry, so I don't feel anything in the cold period now, just like African children never know the feeling of freezing. In short, I can do it wherever I have to do it, and I have written scripts for films in the mainland and Taiwan." * (2025/06/17) The Patrick Tam Yiu Man, Locker Lam Ka Hei starred movie FIGHT FOR TOMORROW (PING MING SAM LONG) is about to be released. Coinciding with Father's Day the day before yesterday, director Chan Tai Lee, stars Tam Yiu Man and Locker went to promote the film. They visited small shops to promote the movie and put up posters. Later the three of them went to the Father's Day preview screening to thank the audience, Tam Yiu Man and Locker performed one of the father-son scolding scenes from the movie for their entrance. Tam Yiu Man also gave an acapella performance of the theme song. Some viewers said that they were very happy to watch this movie, seeing that Tam Yiu Man finally met a good role after many years. Tam Yiu Man was very moved, and also said that he was lucky to run into a "good son" Locker. They contributed to and supported each other, and the three of them even hugged on the spot. The scene was touching. * (2025/06/16) The Louis Koo Tin Lok and Chrissie Chau Sau Na starred film BEHIND THE SHADOWS (SI GA JING TAM) has recently been released in Hong Kong, the mainland and Malaysia, and they have been very committed to promoting it. In the past a number of Hong Kong-made films were screened in the mainland, and the results were all mediocre. BEHIND has collected 66.49 million yuan RMB at the mainland box office as of yesterday, an average performance that could be considered a slight bounce back. Recently the two went to Malaysia to build momentum for the movie, and visited many places to meet the audience for two consecutive days. Chrissie even appeared in different looks, among which "the bangs" received praises online for reducing her age a lot. She also posted photos on social platforms and wrote, "The entire film of BEHIND THE SHADOWS was filmed in Malaysia, of course I have to do publicity! The two-day whirlwind Kuala Lumpur and Penang campaign is over." She thanked the audience for their support, said bluntly that she felt the enthusiasm of everyone every time she saw them and she was very happy. Playing a couple in the film, they seemed to be cheating. When talking about how to deal with emotional betrayal in real life, Koo Tin Lok bluntly said that different people make different choices. He felt that he could only face a third party and had no other choice. Chrissie also agreed with Koo Tin Lok's choice, as she would choose to face it and not run away. * (2025/06/16) Aaron Kwok Fu Sing (Sing Sing) and Natalie Hsu (Hui Yan Yi) went to the theater yesterday to thank the audience of their new film MY FIRST OF MAY (MO MING JI)'s Father's Day preview screening. Regarding the rumored that his wife Moka Fang Yuan was pregnant again, Sing Sing graciously acquiesced to the good news, saying that it was a happy thing. The more members of the family, the more lively it became. Sing Sing collaborated with the new director on MY FIRST OF MAY. He said that he supported the new director James Hung Ling Jing together with manager Siu Mei. He has always liked realistic subjects, and in order to play the role of a squash player he took time to go to the squash club to learn to play in advance. Referring to playing father and daughter with Ann Bridgewater (Pak On Nei)'s daughter Natalie Hsu (Hui Yan Yi), Sing Sing praised her for inheriting her mother's appearance and being an actor with a lot of potential. He said, "The biggest difficulty in working with her is that she was only 18 years old at the time. How to convince the audience of the lack of distance between us was very challenging for me! I had to coordinate with her to bring out the feeling of being a father and daughter. The film is about how to stand up again after a low point in life, it is a movie with positive energy. I hope to borrow that from the film to encourage people and film colleagues who are facing hardship." Natalie said that at first she had a lot of stress after learning that she had to work with the great elder. She thanked Sing Sing for taking care of her and advice in every aspect. Playing someone with muscular dystrophy, she admitted that the role was highly difficult. Before the shoot she did all her homework and watched many related videos for research. Since the film would not be officially released in Hong Kong and the mainland until August, it would coincide with Sing Sing's Macau concert. However he said that it would not affect the promotion of the film, because the concert would be held on weekends. He could participate in the promotion of the film on weekdays, and he also planned to take his daughters to play during the summer vacation. Sing Sing completed FIRST two years ago. In the story he played an athlete who had to face his "daughter" Natalie's serious illness and sacrificed his dream to take care of her. He traversed between the edges of love and pain. Both lead actors' acting bugs had their fill, and at the same time their opportunities for next year's Hong Kong Film Awards were considered favorable. Sing Sing admitted that he accepted the film completely because how real the script was and thus was able to successfully move him. When asked what his two daughters gave him for Father's Day, Sing Sing said, "They are all drawings, they draw every year and I would cherish them and put them in the studio. When I'm tired at work, my heart feels very warm when I see them." He laughed and said that although his daughter's drawings of him bore no resemblance, they captured the spirit. For example when the concert was approaching, they would draw him on the stage. Other drawings were more static. His wife Moka Fang Yuan was rumored to be pregnant again, did Sing Sing have any more good news? He just smiled at first; but when he learned that Alex Fong Lik Sun (Siu Fong) also announced that he would be a father he finally relented and said, "Congratulations to him (Siu Fong), having children is always a happy thing. I too have a happy thing, but I wouldn't say too much about it. I always say that the more children in the family, the more lively it is, and I like lively." When asked if her two daughters knew they were about to become big sisters, Sing Sing smiled and said, "They kind of know." He also revealed that after work, he would dine with his wife and daughters to celebrate Father's Day. * (2025/06/13) Anthony Wong Chau Sun yesterday together with Louisa So Yuk Wah and P1X3L member George Au Chun Ho went to the theater to thank the audience for VALLEY IN THE SHADOW OF DEATH (BUT SEH JI JUI). Chau Sun happily said after seeing the full house, "Sharp, it's full." The audience praised Chau Sun's god-level acting skills, even his neck knew how to act. He thought that the audience overthought it. His performance was only average, his interpretation method has been used for many years, and he only used a few techniques. When the event ended, many viewers fought to take photos with him and ask for autographs. The response was enthusiastic. * (2025/06/13) With the movie THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI YUK), Michelle Wai Sze Nga became the seven time Best Actress and won the "Expressive Actor of the Year" at the "Weibo Movie Night" held the night before (13th). Winning awards non-stop, Michelle said, "Thank you Weibo for giving me this award. Every award is an encouragement for me. In addition to this, the movie THE LAST DANCE is also able to receive the 'Word-of-Mouth Film of the Year' award from the hands of director (Peter) Chan Ho Sun. I feel even more honored." Fellow Best Actress Cya Liu won the Shining Actor of the Year award and expressed her gratitude for running into the movie. "This year is also the 120th anniversary of film, and also the 19th year that I have known the movie. Cinema is an important bridge for me to understand myself and the world." Cya Liu also hoped that life could always be connected with movies, she would have the opportunity to make more and more movies in the future and play some touching roles. She was also very grateful to the audience who loved movies. Because some people continue to love movies, she believed that Chinese films would get better and better. She also hoped that Chinese movies could continue to illuminate the hearts of more people. * (2025/06/13) The Bowie Tsang Po Yee produced, starred and narrated and her boyfriend Lin Mingqian directed documentary style film DEAR BLACK SHEEP (GAU WOON LAI MUK) charity screening took place two nights ago. In addition to the chairmen of CFCFF Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Tsang Bo Yee and Lam Mingqian, members of Wai Yin Association Heidi Chu Hoi Ting, Priscilla Chi Doi Doi, Lisa Ch'ng Sze Ming and Nicole Leung Lai Kiu, as well as MIDLIFE SING AND SHINE's Kimman Wong, Sean Sim Chung Yin, Gary Chiu Cheun Sing and Liu Yang also attended the event to support the charity screening. Another producer of the film, Tsang Po Yee's cousin Gary Tsang Kwok Chun and cousin Liu Sun Hei also appeared to talk about their cancer experience. Tsang Chi Wai revealed that his was a cancer family, with his brother, wife, sister and cousin-in-law all have suffered from cancer one after another. He and his daughter Po Yee would have regular physical examinations. He said that Po Yee spent 4 years filming this documentary, which included their family's experience of cancer, how to face and deal with it, and then share it with everyone. Tsang Po Yee admitted that the filming process was indeed difficult. "I started filming in 2019 and filmed in Taiwan and the United States for half a year, but I had to stop filming due to the pandemic; this time the documentary was shot according the flow of life. During the filming my cousin (film producer) and his wife both suffered from cancer, so before filming what I thought would be a medical discussion finally became a documentary about reconciliation with life." Did Chi Wai have any advice as a father? Po Yee laughed and said that her father was always very busy, and Chi Wai also replied with a smile, "No need to ask, my brother, wife, sister and many family members have experienced it." This documentary raise funds for the CFCF Foundation, Chi Wai felt that money was not the most important. Since the film has been released in Taiwan for half a year, he would charter many screenings in the future when it would be released in Hong Kong. He hoped to share it with more people. As for Po Yee's participation in front of and behind the scenes, she bluntly said that the process was hard to take. "I really cried while filming. On the night before my cousin's wife died, I wanted to go to the hospital to record the process. I asked myself whether I should visit as the documentarian or a relative, which was really difficult to grasp. When it came to dubbing, I couldn't help but cried myself hoarse every time I reached this part. That part was the most sympathetic, because the grief of experiencing the loss of a loved one had to be put down again. I hope everyone will receive the gift after watching it." In addition, Chi Wai knew that Bo Yi would stay in Hong Kong for two more days to accompany him to dinner to celebrate Father's Day. Speaking of Father's Day this year, his future son-in-law Lin Mingqian would celebrate with him. Chi Wai smiled and pointed out that he has seen his future son-in-law many times. The reporter asked him if he would urge his daughter to get married as soon as possible? He said, "I can't get her to move!" Bo Yi smiled and said, "I am happy everyday now. I will get married if I need to in the future, but not getting married does not mean that I don't cherish it." * (2025/06/12) Philip Ng Wan Lung earlier confessed his love for the "otaku goddess" 13 years his junior, Renee Li Man Ying. He finally started filming the movie NO JAP (ANGRY ATTACK) in the mainland a few days ago. His costars also included his good brothers Andy Tien (On Chi Kit), Justin Cheung Kin Sing and Charlene Houghton (Ho Chi Yan). The day before yesterday they held a production start ceremony in the mainland. With Ng Wan Lung and On Chi Kit in charge, of course there were many action scenes. This film was an action crime film. On Chi Kit transformed into a "killing god" to eliminate all evil. In the story he in order to find his lost daughter he infiltrated into the fraud and organ trafficking park alone in order to find his missing daughter, presumably he must fight from the beginning to the end. Once started a live broadcast and complained about the lack of acting work, Cheung Kin Sing pointed out that since he could still do what he dreamed about in the current market, he was really infinitely grateful. He revealed that the role in the film was a lot of fun. Even costume fitting took 6 hours, he was quite looking forward to the results. * (2025/06/12) The Louis Koo Tin Lok (Goo Jai), Chrissie Chau Sau Na and Taiwanese actor Liu Kuan Ting starred crime film BEHIND THE SHADOWS (SI GA JING TAM) was officially released in Hong Kong yesterday. The whole film was filmed in Malaysia. Playing a private detective, Goo Jai was unexpectedly involved in a serial murder case. In one of the cases, the subject of investigation was Chau Sau Na, who played his wife. Making a Hong Kong film for the first time, Liu Kuan Ting had an all new experience and his eyes were opened; Chau Sau Na was also ordered to yell at "the boss" Koo Tin Lok. Goo Jai believed that it would take time for Hong Kong films to adapt to entering the mainland, and he mysteriously said that he has new plans for the future of Hong Kong films. Goo Jai and Chau Sau Na due to the breakdown of the relationship between the husband and wife were arguing and on the verge of divorce in the film. Chau Sau Na deliberately set up a situation for Goo Jai to investigate her for suspicion of cheating. Chau Sau Na joked that the opportunity to "yell at the boss" was rare. "Usually no one dares to yell at him!" Goo Jai revealed that he repeatedly practiced the scene before filming, and admitted that he rarely quarreled with people in reality. "For several days I asked her to come out and argue. We communicated clearly first. The version now is different from the one in the script. (Since you rarely argue normally, would you feel arguing is very hard?) At meetings I would talk all day, but I rarely yell at people. I don't yell at people, and I don't get yelled at as much. Quarrels only hurt relationships, but cannot solve problems." He lamented that the older generation was accustomed to communicating loudly, while modern people were more inclined to rational dialogue. Chau Sau Na pointed out that it was easiest to say things that hurt each other when quarreling. She pointed out that when she was younger, she would feel that she must win a quarrel; especially in front of the closest people such as family and boyfriends. Now she has learned to replace that with chatting as a test, for everyone to find out where the problem lies. "In the film I set up a scheme to attract my husband's attention, I will ask directly in reality." She even revealed that she had questioned her cheating partner in person. "I saw it with my own eyes, so I rushed up to find out why. (What happened?) It's been so long I don't remember, I was only a teenager at the time." Liu Kuan Ting made his first Hong Kong film, playing a professional killer and calling it "so exciting". He laughed and said that the Hong Kong film production start ceremony was eye-opening. "There are only biscuits in Taiwan, and there is a whole roast pig here. I didn't expect it to be so rich!" This was the first time that Goo Jai and Lau Kuan Ting have collaborated, and the two even had a lot of action scenes. Kuan Ting said that the crew took very good care of him, but because he was not fluent in Cantonese he did not dare to interact with Boss Koo at first. However he could not forget that Koo Tin Lok shared valuable acting advice in private, which he savored for a long time. What advantage did Goo Jai discover Liu Kuan Ting had? He joked, "He talked even less than me, which is good; by talking less he would focus on what he is doing." At the end of the film the fight between Kuan Ting and Goo Jai in the pool also shocked Kuan Ting. "The iron pot flew terrifyingly accurate, and I also remind myself to be a little more focused; because the slightest distraction will lead to injury!" Goo Jai admitted that with life and death fights the blows would be hard to gauge, instead the lack of choreography would be the most dangerous. When asked if he would make less action scenes, Goo Jai said that the market would determine that. "The audience would not find Hong Kong-made films with any fight or car chase fun. It's the same with Korean films. Every one has blood all over the face and the body, this concept seems to be difficult to change." Goo Jai also joked that he had a generation gap with young actors. "How surprising would having a generation gap be? However it's all their problem, not mine. Sometimes I ask them if they've seen certain movies, and they say they haven't." Liu Kuan Ting was looking forward to working with Boss Koo again. "Next time I want to act in a comedy and relax a little." How long has he not taken a holiday? Goo Jai joked, "When I am not making a movie I am on vacation." He pointed out that with the current economic environment and the sluggish film market, he will not take a long holiday during this period. He stressed that it was even more important to focus on future deployment at this time. "We must think about the strategy for the next few years." How would movies keep going in the future? Goo Jai said mysteriously, "I have already thought of it, but I can't say it." Referring to the relaxation of the requirements for Hong Kong films to enter the mainland, Hong Kong investors would be able to set up production companies in the mainland and distribute Hong Kong films as the first producer. Goo Jai said that they were no longer co-productions, being ale to distribute themselves of course would be a little better. However there would be both positives and negatives. He said, "The mainland has many different cinema chains, which would takes time to communicate with. Generalization would be very hard, but there must be advantages and difficulties that we face; they all take time to adapt." [ BLAH OF THE WEEK ] Columns, Reviews, Interviews . WEN WEI PO, WEN WEI SPECIAL TOPIC, FEBRUARY 9 2025 INSPIRATION FROM THE SUCCESS OF TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN INNOVATION ON THE FOUNDATION OF CLASSIC ACTION FILMS REJUVENATE THE VITALITY OF HONG KONG FILMS News 2025-02-09 04:08:43 News Hong Kong Wen Wei Po News (Reporter Hu Ruozhang reports from Guangzhou) TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING) was released in Japan and received more than 100 million yen at the box office, becoming the best Hong Kong film released in Japan in the past five years. The long-lost Hong Kong film boom has also led to the re-creation of films and make Hong Kong food and entertainment popular again. Zhao Weifang, director of the Film and Television Research Institute of the China Art Research Institute, says that the film counterattacked the mainland's "May Day" word of mouth and market last year. This time it is sought after in the overseas Japanese market. This film has a footing as a classic innovated again and obtains decent box office and word of mouth. The success of the film has provided revelation for Hong Kong film innovations, especially key revelation for the action genre film revival. Looking back on the history of Hong Kong films going international, in the 1970s Hong Kong films began to move towards internationalization. The most successful development of the Japanese market was the establishment of Golden Harvest Company, which won the international reputation of Bruce Lee's series of kung fu films; the 1980s to early 1990s was the heyday of Hong Kong films, and the cops and robbers action movies and action comedies shot by Sammo Hung Kam Bo, Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao and others became the gold label of Hong Kong films at that time. At that time Jackie Chan's film SHINJUKU INCIDENT set a box office record of 3 billion yen (about HK$ 150 million) in Japan. The 1984 PROJECT A during its Japanese release earned about 3 billion yen at the box office. So far Jackie Chan's cumulative box office in the Japanese market has exceeded 60 billion yen (about HK$ 3 billion), and Jackie Chan alone accounts for more than half of the total box office of Chinese films in Japan. Jackie Chan movies have also affected the Japanese manga industry, PROJECT A is a Jackie Chan work that has been imitated and paid tribute to by many anime. The author of CRAYON SHIN-CHAN, Yoshito Uso has restored the scene of Jackie Chan falling from the bell tower stroke by stroke in a Crayon Shin-chan Special. Jackie Chan's kung fu comedy DRUNKEN MASTER is the source of inspiration for RANMA, the author directly imitates Jackie Chan's DRUNKEN MASTER with the setting of the protagonist Ranma and many places in the manga; DRAGON BALL has a part in which Master Roshi goes to participate in the martial arts conference under the pseudonym Jackie Chan. The comedy anime GINTAMA portrays action actors Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao and Sammo Hung beautifully. Later, the films of Chow Yun Fat, Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing, and Tony Leung Chiu Wai were also very popular in Japan and South Korea. Since Hong Kong films fell into a low ebb, it has been a long time since Hong Kong films have set off a boom overseas. The anime style highlights exaggeration and explosiveness Zhao Weifang, the director of the Film and Television Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Arts, says, "It is an indisputable fact that the action genre in Chinese films, especially martial arts and kung fu, is declining. However, TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN, as an action genre film that mainly targets the cinema market, is sought after in the market because it has made three innovations on the basis of classics." First of all, how to innovate the action genre? Zhao Weifang says that the direct reason for the recession of action genre films is that the fight scenes and specific moves are too old. Even if the director and creator want to innovate and find another way, but there are still not many that are done well. For example, the mainland spring festival release, the Tsui Hark directed THE LEGEND OF CONDOR HEROES: THE GALLENTS, wants to innovate but the result is not ideal. One of the more novel aspects of watching TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN is the action anime manga feel creation in the film, as well as the strong anime manga feel of the "Four Youths of the Walled City" and Wong Gau's costumes and action. "The anime style is exaggerated and explosive, but there is no superpower expression. For example, shortly after the opening scene Tornado obviously opens the curtain of the film's 'manga adapted' action." These innovations have undoubtedly won the film a lot of young audiences and gained new fans. Secondly it is an action system that combines classic action moves with innovative animation moves, creates classics by reviving traditional classic moves and creating classic scenes, and successfully takes the audience back to the classics of the Hong Kong action movie genre. Zhao Weifang emphasizes, "The classics themselves are good artistic charm, allowing the audience to look back at the classics themselves is also one of the great charms of the film." Take the audience to look back at the charm of classic art For example, the film's reproduction of traditional Chinese martial arts brings together middle-aged and elderly movie stars such as Sammo Hung Kam Bo, Louis Koo Tin Lok, Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai), Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, and Kenny Wong Tak Bun, and resurrects more traditional classic moves around their fights. For example, the tiger boxing that the Wong Tak Bun played Tiger practices belongs to the traditional southern school boxing that pays attention to the lunging and clawing movements of kung fu in the hands; the Yam Yin Chai played Dik Chau practices Hung boxing, which is also a traditional southern boxing that highlights the hard core characteristics of southern boxing with stable lower stance; the Hung Kam Bo played Big Boss practices the Shaolin staff method, and the film focuses on showing the sense of power of this traditional staff method; And the Koo Tin Lok played Tornado sometimes practices the traditional northern Shaolin kicks, and sometimes it is an innovative anime manga action. Another innovation is the creation of new spaces. Zhao Weifang said that in the cramped environment of the Kowloon Walled City, every hand-to-hand combat and tossing and turning made the audience nervous and thrilling; unlike in the open plane, in a small space it is invisibly more tense. On the whole, the film pays great attention to the new creation of the action environment, and then actualizes the innovation of action scenes. Nostalgia supports the long-term development of Hong Kong films Why does Hong Kong have feelings? Zhao Weifang also has his own observations. The particularity of Hong Kong's feelings lies in the fact that the cultural preservation and sentiment building of "our city" have become more and more intense in recent years. For many Hong Kong people, the Kowloon Walled City on the screen is like a nostalgic song, causing infinite nostalgia. Those values and emotions that have survived the baptism of time, but still remain in the hearts of Hong Kong people, will be remembered forever and form a collective memory. The fact that nostalgia can have a long-term market and can be widely accepted shows that it is a powerful productivity in itself. Zhao Weifang points out, "In the past two years, Hong Kong films such as A GUILTY CONSCIENCE (DUK SIT DAI JONG) and THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI YUK) have expressed a strong atmosphere of Hong Kong characteristics and cultural nostalgia that were felt in Hong Kong films. It is safe to say that the development of Hong Kong films in the future will also be inseparable from the empowerment of feelings. There are a large number of films in Hong Kong that pay more and more attention to the present, conveying the survival and emotional state of ordinary people in Hong Kong; this is the foundation and support of film creation. Judging from the box office, the films that perform well in Hong Kong movies are still action, comedy, and gangster films. Feelings and genre are still the trump cards for the long-term development of Hong Kong films and the continuous upward trend." "Of course, whether it is TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN or the creation of current Chinese-language films, there are still shortcomings in the narrative issue; but the good news is that everyone has put in the effort at the narrative level." Zhao Weifang expects that under the new round of already classic action genre films like TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN, more action genre films can rejuvenate the vitality of Hong Kong film and television with the joint efforts of action innovation and narrative innovation. https://www.wenweipo.com/a/202502/09/AP67a7b9d8e4b062193f607d42.html THE CREATOR OF TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN BELIEVES THE MOVIE ATTRACTS JAPANESE AUDIENCE WITH A MANGA FLAVOR News 2025-02-09 04:08:20 News Hong Kong Wen Wei Po (Reporter Azu) TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING) is a huge hit in Japan. Director Soi Cheang Pou Soi says gleefully, "Of course my feelings are happy, of course I am happy that my film is popular outside! Because the movie comes from comics, I shot it with a little manga flavor. For Japanese audiences, the enthusiasm and friendship feel familiar to them; maybe that's why they like it. As for the Kowloon Walled City, Japan has a lot of love for it. There have been video games and Walled City indoor theme parks before." As for whether he would like this Hong Kong film boom to continue in Japan, Cheang Pou Soi bluntly said that of course he wants this trend to continue, but he thinks that it will also depend on whether future movies have the same luck and opportunity to be loved by Japanese audiences. Playing one of the "Four Sons of the Walled City" in the film, Terrance Lau Chun Him feels that TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN itself is already a highly watchable movie, with many fight scenes, many scenes representing Hong Kong, and even the relationship between the characters. It tells the story of how two generations protect their homes. All the elements are so cosmopolitan, so he hopes that this work will not just stay in one place. He says, "There are many pictures and documents of the Kowloon Walled City, which have been preserved by many Japanese people; so the Kowloon Walled City is a place with a deep affection for them. At the same time the Kowloon Walled City represents a place in a certain era in Hong Kong, which in many ways reflects the situation of Hong Kong itself. I would like to thank the Japanese audience for loving this story, and I hope that in the future, whether it is the continuation of DRAGON THRONE (LUNG TAU) or THE FINAL CHAPTER (JUNG CHEUNG), we can bring you a more exciting, more profound, more moving, and more exciting story to the audience!" Kenny Wong Tak Bun as one of the gang leaders in the film, Tiger, is one of the closest to the archetypal characters in Japan's secondary manga. Wong Tak Bun says that being popular with the Japanese viewers has of course made him very happy. He believes that the reason for the popularity is the rich story background and characters, smooth rhythm of the movie, considerable action and manga feel in the Kowloon Walled City. He says, "So I would like to thank the costume designer Yu Ka On for making every character in TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS very prominent." https://www.wenweipo.com/a/202502/09/AP67a7b9c4e4b062193f607d3f.html [EXPERT OPINION ] USE INTERNATIONAL NARRATIVE TECHNIQUES TO TELL THE STORY OF LOCAL CULTURE News 2025-02-09 04:08:12 News The Hong Kong film market has experienced ups and downs in the past few decades, but the revival of Hong Kong films has not been a smooth road from slogans to substantive progress. Recently, the popular screening of TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING) in Japan not only made Japanese audiences re-understand the charm of Hong Kong films, but also brought new inspiration to Hong Kong filmmakers. The success of this film proves that Hong Kong films still have strong vitality and international influence. The film combines a variety of elements to create an intense and heartwarming viewing experience. This inspires Hong Kong filmmakers to have the courage to break through, innovate and explore new ways of expression while adhering to the advantages of genre films. Set against the backdrop of the unique Kowloon Walled City, the film showcases Hong Kong's market culture and historical changes, which arouses the curiosity and resonance of Japanese audiences about Hong Kong. This shows that taking root in local culture, telling a good story with international narrative techniques, and finding their own positioning in the context of globalization is the key for Hong Kong films to go global. Opening June 19 2025 [ BROADWAY CIRCUIT ] The story begins with the life stream of a murder. Facing the camera, the masked murderer announces, "You're the next one!" The seemingly true video suddenly becomes the real life in the far distance. With the life stream and human organ trafficking issues, the film depicts the cold-bloodiness of the society caused by objectification. Although the life stream is brutal, the blood and tear and the self-willed paternal love of the avenger are hidden behind the story. He fights against the criminal network consisting of money, power and violence. To the eyes of some powerful people, human beings are seen as objects, existing only for them to earn huge profits by trafficking organs. Those human beings are called "organ donors". The rhythm of the film is fast. The story is very entertaining with continuous twists and turns. The protagonist of the film is Zhang Qi-mao played by Joseph Zhang, whose daughter went missing when she was three months old. It is suspected that she was stolen by a child abduction group. His wife killed herself because of her guiltiness. He went into investigation but was framed and put into jail. When he got out, he found that her daughter has been stolen by a human organ trafficking group and become an organ donor whose heart was taken away. This question makes people very uneasy..." The forte of Bowie Tsang, the protagonist of this film, lies in "communication." In addition to giving lectures and online lessons and publishing books, she is an experienced television presenter and an award ceremony host active in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China. Since 2018, as many of her family and friends and even the doctor she trusts the most have been diagnosed with cancer, Bowie cannot stop herself asking a profound question, "Cancer, how on earth should I face you?" Of course, Bowie knows cancer cells are the cells of your own body, and they are just like your own family, but she cannot understand why your own family would want to take your life. Doesn't it sound so contradictory? Eventually, this question led her to a six-year-long search for the answers, and she documented several moving stories in her Vlog along the way. Apart from the conventional Western medical treatment, Bowie experienced and explored different fields, including the scientization of traditional Chinese medicine, how the Chinese and Western medicine complement each other, the alternative medicine university in Seattle and mind-body integrative medicine. In the end, Bowie gained an understanding from her sister-in-law and received a gift that allowed her to communicate with cancer - medicine for the mind. ATONEMENT AKA: IN TURMOIL Can : Ah Lung d.
