The movie has been released for two weeks, with a box office of about HK$ 2.3 million. The number of screenings have been getting fewer and fewer, making it difficult to recover the cost. Roy Tsui (Lam Yat Hei) regarded Yu Tsang as his mentor and supported the other party from afar. He wrote a letter to Yu Tsang on social platforms, saying that he have been waiting to no avail for her to ask for help with promoting MONTAGES. "In the past with other movies that that are completely unrelated to you (Yu Tsang), you will share me happily; but this time you didn't even mention it." Lam Yat Hei estimated that Yu Tsang invested 800 to 10 million in MONTAGES, and the box office just exceeded 2 million in two weeks. "By my calculation 2 million after distribution cost may only be left with a few hundred thousand, in other words you have to lose nearly 10 million; which to you is chum charge, maybe! However for me in the 'peanut gallery', I feel a little little little little little little of your pain." He hoped that the post could remind the audience who was interested in attending the screening, so that Yu Tsang would lose a "few k" less. He joked, "Finally, I would like to make the point of this letter. Next time if you feel that you have too much money and want to invest in movies, I hope you will think twice, and then think of me, and turn your living savings over to me. I wish you a happy life." Yu Tsang replied to Lam Yat Hei on social networks, saying that she has been waiting for Lam Yat Hei to ask her to help invest in his work. "Supporting MONTAGES OF A MODERN MOTHERHOOD isn't an investment, I never thought that there would be money to be made. I invested 7 million production fees, which to me who has been retired and have zero income for many years wasn't chum charge. Finally, the point of this letter is that every time you do something it will definitely sell gangbuster...... Please save me a piece next time you do something, let me pick up a little something, because another movie is asking me for support." * (2025/05/07) The movie THE GILDED GAME held its premiere at apm last night, lead actors Andy Lau Tak Wah (Wa Jai) and Kent Cheng Juk Si (Brother Kent) and director Herman Yau Lai To attended together. Hundreds of fans have been waiting since early in the morning. As soon as Wa Jai appeared, fans screamed and cheered immediately and screamed "Handsome Wa". Wa Jai was also very friendly. As he approached the fan area and waved, he once again caused an uproar at the scene. The film was released during the May Day Golden Week, and the cumulative box office in the mainland has reached 140 million yuan. Just with the preview screenings it has become the box office champion of Chinese films in Malaysia. Wa Jai and Brother Kent are already long time partners who have worked together inseparably. Although the two had an argument scene in the film, Brother Kent said that he had a script long ago, but he did not make any special arrangement how to make it. As the producer Wa Jai would let him perform freely and they set off sparks on the spot. Brother Kent humorously said that as an old man he has been able to keep up, as he compared himself to "tailgating" but never "crashing". Wa Jai laughed that Brother Kent was "crowding" him, and has been constantly performing by his side since THE WHITE STORM 2: DRUG LORDS (SO DUK 2). Whether he played happy and evil roles, even friends or enemies, he has given him a lot of new performance inspiration. Brother Kent also pointed out that from their numerous collaborations CHASING THE DRAGON II: WILD WILD BUNCH (JUI LUNG II), THE WHITE STORM 2, SHOCK WAVE 2, to CESIUM FALLOUT (FUN SING), Wa Jai had a different interpretation every time amd made him dare not slack off. Talking about the past, Brother Kent suddenly had tears in his eyes. "Wa Jai has helped me tide over difficulties. He is a role model for me to learn from for life." He choked up and added that Wa Jai had a cold appearance but a warm heart. He has silently supported many directors and Hong Kong staff over the years, and everyone in the business could see it. "Even if the results may not be satisfactory as there are always highs and lows, but there are also surprises. His mentality is so rare, how many people in the circle will do this? It's really about helping with your heart rather than just talking about it." When asked about Kent's evaluation, Wa Jai modestly responded, "Many people are working hard in the business. I hope that like-minded friends will work together, set off more sparks, and be happy to keep cooperating." Brother Kent praised Wa Jai for not violating the harmony and not joining the crowd, not dividing everyone under the current difficulties of the film industry. Only by improving would they have a chance to come back. However now the movie market is in the "cold winter", Wa Jai joked, "In the cold winter we will just put on another down jacket and try again!" Brother Kent added, "As long as you didn't die, the warming will bring a bloom!" Wa Jai bluntly said that he still had confidence in the future of the film market. He said that he could survive good times and bad times. He would continue to invest in filming, but it must also be within his ability. "I wouldn't raise funds because I don't want capital to affect creation, so I shoot at a low cost of about HK$ 4 or 5 million. I know that it is difficult to attract actors and directors, but I have done my best!" In addition while promoting THE GILDED GAME in the mainland, Wa Jai revealed that his daughter's classmates did not believe that Lau Tak Wa was her father. Would he show up more at his daughter's school? Wa Jai smiled and said, "OK! This happens all the time. My daughter is my daughter, but actually I often show up at her school." Does his beloved daughter admire him very much? Wa Jai smiled and said, "Change the subject!" Regarding Wong Jing's recent expose of Wa Jai's romantic history on his online channel, Wa Jai said that he did hot mind. Everyone knew about his past relationships, only that they were being told again. Wong Jing spoke in great detail, saying that even on movie dates he had to enter separate and leave early. Wa Jai said, "All actors are like this!" * (2025/05/06) Ronald Cheng Chung Kei was emboiled in a "manager turmoil" last year, revealing that he suffered from depression and went to the United States to receive alcohol rehab treatment. After a few months of rest, he was ready to promote the movie ATONEMENT (AH LUNG) that was originally scheduled for release in April at the beginning of this year. He attended a sharing session at a secondary school, filmed an online program and arranged for media interviews, but the publicity plan came to an abrupt halt and it was rumored that he and his wife Sammie Yu Sze Man had ended their 13-year marriage. In the middle of last month he appeared thinner at the Family Court and participated in a closed-door trial. He has not been seen in public since. A few days ago, Vincent Kok Tak Chiu's THE POPCORN SHOW interviewed the ATONEMENT team. Cheng Chung Kei also appeared, judging from the hairstyle and body shape, he looked different from when he appeared at the family court last month. The show was obviously recorded earlier. * (2025/05/06) Former Miss Hong Kong Juliette Louie (Lui Chong Yi) returned to Canada for work. Recently she attended the press conference of the movie LOK MEI YUN SUN ("Six Flavors of Life") held at the Peak, which meant returning to the Hong Kong entertainment industry. She said of her original intention of joining the film, "Hong Kong food nourishes my growth, and being able to participate in local production as an actor is both a challenge and a reward." Reportedly she plays a young lawyer who returns to Hong Kong from Canada and struggles between traditional taste and modern values in the film. The role would deeply test her acting skills. Juliette also pointed out that her role needs a real local presence, now she was openly recruiting the cast and the crew for new films as an actor. * (2025/05/06) "Hong Kong Cinema Day 2025" will be held on the 10th of this month, and will allow Hong Kong citizens to enter the cinema to enjoy more than 70 movies at a preferential ticket price of HK$ 30. Wai Sze Nga revealed that she had applied for a cinema staff position for her first job but failed. Today she could finally give away popcorn. "I am very happy, today finally my wish comes true. I hope I would be asked to be an ambassador again next year so I can give away popcorn again. I look forward to experiencing being an usher and enjoying employee benefit of watching movies for free." Wai Sze Nga reminded the audience that tickets will be sold online at 12 noon on the 7th, and recommended that everyone grab tickets on time. Speaking of THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI YUK)'s box office success of HK$ 170 million and still in theaters, Wai Sze Nga could not hide her joy. She believed that this proved that the audience was still keen to go to the theater to watch movies. She revealed that the audience was still almost full when she attended audience appreciation events recently. They even shared heartwarming stories. She thanked the audience for accompanying her growth like family. "I always tell the audience it's like seeing family again. From the first day to now half a year later, from being single to married everyone has watched me grow." Wai Sze Nga also talked about when she thanked the audience in Hawaii, Hong Kongers who migrated there expressed hope for additional shows so their Papa could go and enjoy the movie. In the end earlier during an audience appreciation event in Hong Kong she ran into that viewer again, which made her very happy. As for THE LAST DANCE having just won the Silver Mulberry Audience Award and the Black Dragon Award at the 27th Far East Film Festival in Udine, Italy, Wai Sze Nga was happy that the film has won the awards, but somewhat regrettably she was unable to witness them in person due to her work. Best Actress Wai Sze Nga said that her recent work schedule has been full. Only in recent days she had time off and walk the dog with her husband, simply had French fries and drank beer as a celebration. She laughed and said that as the gradually older she got, the more she felt that a simple life was the happiest. A few days ago she deliberately took the Best Actress award home to celebrate with her parents. Her father praised her funnily, "Good Job, Daughter!" Her husband was responsible for putting the short videos he shot daily on social platforms. "Actually the videos he makes are the juiciest. Some of the content makes me worry about whether I can put it on the Internet, but I didn't expect that more and more people are following him now. He's so sharp, seemingly he can make videos with me as an influencer one day. However I would always remind him to be careful when posting." Wai Sze Nga pretended to complain, "I have to educate him properly, don't post my no-makeup photos on the Internet." In addition, Wai Sze Nga said that she was waiting to be free for a dinner to celebrate her Best Actress awards with friends in the business like Carlos Chan Ka Lok. * (2025/05/05) The Juno Mak Chun Lung directed film SONS OF THE NEON NIGHT (FUNG LUM FOR SHAN) started filming in 2017, wrapped up production the next year and has not been released for 7 years since then. The production cost has been rumored to go from the original HK$ 150 million to 400 million. The film tells the story of a wealthy businessman in Hong Kong who was killed in a bombing incident, which led to a tug of war between drug dealers and law enforcers. In addition the heirs of a wealthy businessman created chaos behind the scenes, claiming to create a "drug-free world". Earlier SONS OF THE NEON NIGHT reportedly would be released this year, and the 78th Cannes Film Festival to be held in the middle of this month has selected the film for the midnight screening unit. It became the only Chinese film on the list this year. Mak Chun Lung released a 15-second clip of SONS OF THE NEON NIGHT for the first time on social platforms last month, with the five leads Takeshi Kaneshiro (Gum Sing Mo), Louis Koo Tin Lok, Sean Lau Ching Wan, Tony Leung Ka Fai and Gao Yuanyuan appearing in turn and street explosion scenes. Vincent Kok Tak Chiu's ViuTV program THE POPCORN SHOW the night before showed the preview of the guests on a new episode, as he interviewed Mak Chun Lung, Leung Ka Fai and Nina Paw Hee Ching. Mak Chun Lung talked about one of the leads Gum Sing Mo. When he took the role in SONS OF THE NEON NIGHT, because Juno personally went to Japan to lobby him mishaps happened. "I went to Japan to ask Gum Sing Mo to make the film, and asked him to meet at a place. He said: 'I have arrived, no such place!'" SONS OF THE NEON NIGHT has been said to be an "urban legend" level film work in Hong Kong. Best Actor Leung Ka Fai could not help but joke, "I once thought, do you want to wait for me to die to release the film?" Many online said that they were looking forward to watching this episode of THE POPCORN SHOW. * (2025/05/05) Jeffrey Ngai Chun Sun encountered an accident while filming, and many blood marks appeared on the chin and neck arteries. They were 8 inches long. Due to the seriousness of the injury, nearly half a hundred artists sent greetings. Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin even left a message, "OMG!" as she marveled at Jeffrey's injuries! Reportedly Jeffrey is filming a new film about water skiing, which still had a few days to go before the production wrap. The leading actress Renci Yeung Sze Wing prays for everything to go smoothly! Jeffrey posted a photo of his injuries during a film shoot on social media the day before yesterday. The staff could be seen as they carried him to the boat. He couldn't move when he lay down, his eyes were hollow, his condition was very weak. His neck was wrapped in gauze to stop the bleeding, and he was immediately sent to the hospital for treatment. After he was admitted to the hospital, he was still conscious and could sit on his own. Yet many long and deep blood marks appeared on his chin, neck, and even arteries. They were 8 inches long, and the injuries were serious. Aside from the blood marks many bruises could be seen as well and scars could be left! In order to avoid worrying fans, he also reported his safety. "Fortunate amid the misfortune, thank you Heavenly Father for your blessing. At the moment I was injured, my mind was blank. Thank you for the care, everyone at the crew." Jeffrey's management company also replied to media inquiries. "At present he has no major problem, and he has now gone home to rest. Thank you all for your concern and blessings!" Jeffrey is very popular in the business. After the news of accident spread, nearly half a hundred artists in the business sent well wishes. Stephy Tang Lai Yan, Kay Tse On Kay, Gin Lee Hung Ngai, etc. all consoled him. Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin even wrote, "OMG! Speedy recovery!" Due to the confidentiality of this shoot, Jeffrey did not disclose what movie he was making. Reportedly he was working with Renci Yeung Sze Wing and Kevin Chu Kam Yin on the Fung Chih Chiang directed film LONG FA NAM NUI (Wave Foam Man Woman) about water skiing. The film was still a few days away from the production wrap, and the crew continued to work yesterday. Yeung Sze Wing on her social platform posted a photo at sea and suspected work photo. In one photo her leg was taped, it was unknown whether she was injured or it was for protective use. She also prayed for the upcoming shoots would be safe and peaceful. Chu Kam Yin also posted a short video of putting on a water skiing suit on the social platform. Seeing that he was listening to music, he should be listening to songs to relax before filming. * (2025/05/04) Since the release of the Emperor Motion Picture THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI YUK) last year, as of May 2 the film's latest Hong Kong and Macao cumulative box office figures have reached HK$ 169.21 million, moving towards HK$ 170 million. After winning five awards at the Hong Kong Film Awards last month, the film team received good news from Italy yesterday morning that THE LAST DANCE won two awards at the 27th Far East Film Festival in Udine, Italy to become the big winner of this year's festival. Sylvia Chang also receives the Golden Mulberry Award for Lifetime Achievement, which she said was a great encouragement for her 54 year film career. She felt fortunate that this mad world still has movies and theaters people can go to. The 27th Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy held an awards ceremony yesterday morning Hong Kong time, among which the extended version of THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI YUK) became the only Hong Kong film to win awards this year. The film won the Silver Mulberry Audience Award and the Black Dragon Audience Award and became the big winner of this year. For the recognition of both the audience and the film critics, the director and screenwriter of THE LAST DANCE Anselm Chan Mou Yin expressed his gratitude through words. "I would like to thank the audience and professional judges of the Udine Far East Film Festival for their love and affirmation of THE LAST DANCE, and I am grateful for this magical journey of THE LAST DANCE for collecting another beautiful scenery." As for THE LAST DANCE leading actress, Michelle Wai Sze Nga was also excited after learning the news. She said, "I am very grateful to the team of THE LAST DANCE for being recognized in Italy, and thank the local audience for their love and letting the film go further." In addition several Hong Kong Film Award winners, including fresh out of the oven Best Actress Wai Sze Nga, director Chan Mou Yin, Cheng Wai Kei and Chu Wan Pin, recently visited the cinema to thank the audience for their support. "Participating in the entire journey of THE LAST DANCE, the power of the viewer friends has occupied a very important position. Everyone share their own stories with our team, so the film and each one of the character would have more weight. So I am very happy to be able to personally go to the theaters to thank each and every friends who have always walked along with us. * (2025/05/03) The Louis Koo Tin Lok (Goo Jai), Neo Yau Hawk Sau and Poon Chan Leung starred film VITAL SIGNS (SUNG YUEN TOH JUNG) opened two days ago and made over HK$ 1.3 million in Hong Kong and Macau on the first day, becoming this year's Hong Kong film opening box office champion. They spoke to HOY TV a few days ago. When making movies they would often encounter crying scenes. Speaking of working on this type of scenes, Goo Jai joked that he often shed tears. "Actually performing crying scenes is the basics of being an actor!" Earlier he revealed that he had two holes in his retina and needed surgery as soon as possible, and in this interview he also mentioned the neck pain that has plagued him for many years. "I have had neck pain for 3 or 4 years, and I couldn't sleep and had to take morphine to be able to tough it out." He praised his artist Yau Hawk Sau, saying that he has influenced his values. "He thinks fast on his feet, and he would find a lot of interesting or unconventional ideas. Creators should not stick to the rules." With praises he also had criticism. He also advised juniors not to be in a hurry to do things and to get rid of bad habits, "Don't be in a hurry when you do something, for example, don't drink and go live online!" However lately he has already changed a lot, and started to know how to take a step back." * (2025/05/03) Hedwig Tam Sin Yin and Siuyea Lo Chun Yip play husband and wife in the movie MONTAGES OF A MODERN MOTHERHOOD (FU DUK BUT). Tam Sin Yin once wanted to be a mother, but after making the film she felt that being a mother was not simple. She was physically and mentally exhausted, she was scared off as she said, "I won't have one." She jokes that she does not want to be a "tiger mom". Lo Chun Yip instead has grown in knowledge, understands more about the responsibilities of being a husband and father, and does not resist having children; but his career has just improved. His popularity has only increased since TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES (NIN SIU YUT GEI). He will sprint in his career in the next few years and maintain a love marathon run with his girlfriend Fish Liew Chi Yu. Tam Sin Yin and Lo Chun Yip starred in the Oliver Chan Siu Guen directed movie MONTAGES OF A MODERN MOTHERHOOD (FU DUK BUT), which tells the story of Suk Ching after becoming a mother. She faces parenting pressure, her husband never taking the initiative to participate in parenting, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law conflicts and estrangement from her own family. Lack of sleep, physical changes and work stress leaves Suk Ching physically and mentally exhausted. Trying to be a good mother but losing herself, she feels lonely and helpless. In order to play the role of a first-time mother, Tam Sin Yin deliberately gains 20 pounds in advance to exaggerate her after childbirth shape. She also learns from some mothers to understand their physical changes, emotions and stress during and after pregnancy and childbirth, as well as how to breastfeed. She said, "I don't think I have gained enough pounds. My face is relatively thin, I originally want to gain more weight, but the pounds all fall on my body and I couldn't do anything." Although most of the role is "solo" to tell her inner world, she does not find it difficult to act. "The baby's constant crying is actually helping me". Tam Sin Yin and Lo Chun Yip feel that it is very difficult for women nowadays to balance their family and career. Tam Sin Yin said, "In the past, women concentrated on their husbands and children after marriage. Now mothers not only think about at home, but also think about outside the home and find their own value." Lo Chun Yip believes that ways of taking care of children now are different, which also cause pressure on parents. "In the past children ran around the streets, but now they can't. They must be accompanied by their parents. When children are born, we must prepare for their education, and taking care of children is a new science." Tam Sin Yin agreed, saying that children in the past were born and raised on their own; but in the era of information explosion, parents get a lot of parenting information from the Internet. At the same time a lot of comparisons would be made between parents, feeling that they haven't done well enough, unable to pave the way for their children. "That's why there are so many monster parents appearing, they are afraid that their children will lose out in the future. Parents' fear is also much greater, because they have too many choices in front of them. They are afraid to make wrong choices, which will affect the future of their children. Have they been scared off from becoming parents in the future? Tam Sin Yin said that when she saw how cute the baby was during the shoot, she was tempted to have one; but the fantasy disappeared immediately after the shoot ended, "I'm not having one!" Lo Chun Yip is not scared to be a father by MONTAGES, but he learned a lesson. He knows more clearly the responsibilities of marriage and fatherhood. Actually he would have so many things to care about, such as women's physical and psychological changes, pressure, mastitis and childbirth, etc. He said, "I didn't know these things before, but finishing the film I have more knowledge. I can prepare for having children in the future. (More considerate of women?) Gotta be! (Mom is so noble?) Noble is noble, but we can't be kidnapped by the word 'noble'. Noble is giving everything. If you don't give, you are not noble." Lo CHun Yip and his girlfriend Fish Liew Chi Yu have a stable relationship, but they have no plans to get married and have children. He says that they have been making films for more than 10 years, and only been recognized by the audience in recent years. Last year with TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES (NIN SIU YUT GEI) he was nominated for the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actor, then he had more opportunities to perform. Thus he would take advantage of them and focus on work in the next few years. Tam Sin Yin is the same as Lo Chun Yip, currently sprinting in her career. She thinks about other things later. Not in a relationship, Tam Sin Yin said that was because she was too "otaku". She stays at home when not at work and has no chance to meet new friends. Does her friends not have any guys to introduce to her? She looked at Lo Chun Yip and asked with a smile, "Why don't you make any introduction?" Lo Chun Yip revealed that when they attended the Tokyo International Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival together, he has said that he would introduce guys to Tam Sin Yin. However he did not follow up after returning to Hong Kong. Does he have any guy that is suitable for Tam Sin Yin? Lo Chun Yip said, "Actually it's so difficult, I don't even know new people myself." Lo Chun Yip asked if Tam Sin Yin would accept a relationship with a younger man? Tam Sin Yin smiled and said that she could consider it, but she was not in a hurry to date and her family has not rushed her. "My family gives me a lot of freedom, as long as I am happy I can be single for a lifetime." After the Hong Kong Film Awards, Hedwig Tam Sin Yin flew to Italy the next day to attend the Udine Far East Film Festival to interact with local audiences. She would only stay there 3 days during the 5-day trip. She said, "Before I could adjust to the time difference I would have to return to Hong Kong. Because I have to attend audience appreciation events, I wouldn't have time to stay for a few more days. I flashed over to Venice for two hours and it wasn't enough. I hope to have a chance to come to Italy again." She said that the response from the local audience was very enthusiastic and that the audience resonated with her, which was very memorable for her. On this quick trip to Italy, she also had a great appetite for local ice cream and has eaten a variety of flavors. However she did not have time to shop for souvenirs. * (2025/05/02) A few days after he and his good partner Shi Nansun were awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards on Sunday, Tsui Hark was awarded the "Golden Mulberry Lifetime Achievement Award" at the 27th Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy in recognition of his contribution to cinema for more than 40 years, and his status as a pioneer and experimenter of the Chinese action and fantasy genre. Tsui Hark's friend Tony Leung Ka Fai was the guest presenter, and was moved to tears when he saw Tsui Hark winning the award. Tsui Hark lamented, "I first came to the 27-year-old Udine, I've been making films for more than 40 years. I still sense the all new discoveries and experiences here." He said that in addition to the efforts in front of and behind the cameras, the most important thing for a film's achievements was that the audience to be willing to buy tickets to support it at the theater. Tsui Hark and Shi Nansun earlier at the Hong Kong Film Awards received the Lifetime Achievement Awards from their frined Brigitte Lin (Lam Ching Ha)'s hands. At the time he said that the film industry has been facing a bumpy road ahead, and hoped that filmmakers will help each other and support each other with their original aspirations and passion, and use professionalism, attitude and ability to work together to face many difficulties and overcome challenges, and break new ground in the complex market. The Udine Far East Film Festival president Sabrina Baracetti said that since more than 10 years ago, Tsui Hark has been invited to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award every year. Tsui Hark recalls that he first received the first invitation when promoting IRON TRIANGLE at the Cannes Film Festival one year, but he was unable to make the trip every year due to the filming schedules until he finally set foot in Udine this year. During the festival a number of Tsui Hark's classic works will be screened, including THE GREEN SNAKE, 4K RESTORED SHANGHAI BLUE, and his latest work LEGENDS OF THE CONDOR HEROES: THE GALLANTS. The event invited actor Leung Ka Fai as guest presenter. He often collaborated with Tsui Hark, had a deep friendship, and was also an important partner in the golden age of Hong Kong cinema. Leung Ka Fai in order to support Tsui Hark flew there, he said on he stage, "Mr. Tsui Hark not only created films, but also redefined them. His work has transformed the screen into a land of fantasy and inspired audiences and filmmakers alike." When Tsui Hark gave his speech, Leung Ka Fai frequently wiped away tears. The European premiere of LEGENDS OF THE CONDOR HEROES: THE GALLANTS took place that night at the festival, more than 1,200 people in the audience gave a standing ovation at the end, and Leung Ka-fai and Tsui Hark were moved by the atmosphere. Attending the festival for the first time in person, Tsui Hark said, "I have been making films for more than 40 years, and this is the first time I have come to this '27-year-old' Udine. I still sense the 'all new discoveries and experiences'." Talking about this "new discovery", he said, "I hope that both the creators and the audience can share the beautiful discoveries that film brings." This sentence expressed his motivation to continue making movies to this day. Tsui Hark said that the achievement of a film has been never the effort of one person, but the result of the cooperation of everyone. They included the staff in front of and behind the cameras. Of course, the most important thing would be that the audience that is willing to buy tickets to enter the theater to support it. He would like to take this opportunity to wish the audience, creators, and partners of the film festival that they will always make new discoveries in films. * (2025/05/02) The movie THE DUMPLING QUEEN actors Kara Wai Ying Hung, Ma Li, Ben Yuen Fu Wah, Ashley Lin (Lam Hoi Ling) and director Andrew Lau Wai Keung attended the charity premiere yesterday. TVB Executive Chairman Hui To and his wife Balia Chan Chi Yu, Ray Lui Leung Wai and his wife, and other celebrities were also present. Charged with insider trading, Raymond Wong Pak Ming served as the officiating guest, but was not interviewed. "East Weekly" exclusively broke the news earlier that Eileen Yiu Tsz Ling secretly dating Norman Chui Siu Keung's song Edward Chui Woai Dong. Originally scheduled to attend the premiere, Yiu Tsz Ling did not show up in the end. Director Soi Cheang Pou Soi also showed his support. When asked about his film TWLIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING) winning the Best Sound Effects Award at the Hong Kong Film Awards but led to speculation of vote fixing, he stressed that it was not about the post production company's issue and also felt that the matter had to be followed up. Director Cheang Pou Soi's TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN won nine awards at this year's Hong Kong Film Awards, including the Best Sound Effects Award. After the race an industry insider who took part in the voting suspected vote fixing. Cheang Pou Soi yesterday said that he had no idea what happened, stressing that it definitely would not an issue with the post production company. "Nothing like that was done. I don't know how the writing ended up on that person's ballot. I am not sure, I heard that the Hong Kong Film Awards Association would follow up. I too feel that it should be followed up." He also pointed out that the person who filled in the information was well-intentioned, but he should not fill it in. He also did not know the identity of the whistleblower, but he thought that it should be an insider. Cheang Pou Soi hoped that the incident would not affect the perception in the outside world. He did not talk to Louis Koo Tin Lok about the incident because they have not yet met again. Director Andrew Lau Wai Keung said that the legendary story of the dumpling queen was a rare encounter, and even said that the lead actress Ma Li fell from the sky to help this movie. He said that the film production format has already changed. Before several film productions could be in production, now they would have to be certain about the script before going into production. With little production budget, he thanked many actors and friends for their help. They included Fiona Sit Hoi Kei, who took the initiative not to receive remuneration and put the remuneration on the production. He was moved. When she lost his friend Khalil Fong Datong, he also sent her condolences. She said that she could withstand it. Speaking of the speculation about the Hong Kong Film Awards vote fixing, Lau Wei Keung said that he did no know about it and regarded it as a rumor. As for the outside criticism that this year would be the "coldest May Day schedule", Lau Kwai Keung said that he would not mind. "Because it is a global economy issue, not just a film industry issue." He revealed that he would visit many places to promote and even said that the film took place in the 60s, the economy at the time was just as bad as now in Hong Kong and relied on everyone helping each other. He said that when he could not direct before he became a cinematographer, urged filmmakers not to blame and complain, and hoped that after the cold winter passed would be spring. Wai Ying Hung recently won the Outstanding Actress Award at the 20th China Film Huabiao Awards, becoming the first Hong Kong actress to win this award. She admitted frankly yesterday that she has been longing for it. Speaking of setting a record to become Hong Kong's first Huabiao actress, she said that when winning the first Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actress with an action film she has already set a record, and the second time when she won the award in her 50s it was also a record. She would only have to win the Golden Rooster Best Actress for a Grand Slam. Sister Siu Hung said that she has not retired, she also has confidence and wishes to work hard to collect the entire set of Best Actress awards. She revealed that she was looking forward to her upcoming film release later, and joked that she would also have the opportunity. Yuen Fu Wah and Wai Ying Hung in the film only brushed by each other. He joked that he wanted the director to add a scene with the two of them. Wai Ying Hung joked, "Extramarital affair?" Yuen Fu Wah said that it could be a friendship scene too. He appreciated her never admitting defeat spirit and hoped that they could work together in the future. Wai Ying Hung suggested for them to collaborate as villains, claiming that she was not bad at playing a villain either. * (2025/05/02) Kaki Sham and Renci Yeung Sze Wing play ambiguous robbery partners in the new film SMASHING FRANK (DOH POR FAT LAN HAK). In addition to being in life and death situations, they also held hands during their escape and kiss scene, which was finally cut away due to the length of the film. When speaking of another scene in which Yeung Sze Wing takes advantage of Kaki Sham to take off his clothes when he is unconscious, the two laughed and pointed out that the most difficult thing at that time was trying not to laughter. Yeung Sze Wing had to take off Kaki Sham's clothes when he was "unconscious". The two said that they were not embarrassed at the time, but the hardest thing was to hold back laughter. Kaki laughed and pointed out that he was lying on the sofa at that time and at the mercy of Yeung Sze Wing. Yeung Sze Wing said that Hedwig Tam Sin Yin and Locker Lam Ka Hei were "peeking" next to her. She could not help laughing when she saw them, so the atmosphere was not only embarrassing, but also full of joy. Kaki Sham has played the role of a weak and cowardly little man in the past, and this time is no exception. He hoped to have the opportunity to challenge the role of a big man in the future; Yeung Sze Wing thought that he was not afraid of being limited by his appearance, laughing at him as if he is playing a big man, he would be quite a cute contrast. At the same time she hoped that she would be discovered to be a cute contrast as well. As a new generation of young actors, they cherish every job opportunity. Kaki Sham has always set goals for life. He has already accomplished marriage and parenthood, would his next step be winning an award? He admitted that he has thought about it, but it would not be his life goal. Instead he hoped that he could keep on acting, which both of them thought would be difficult to do. Actors were very passive. Yeung Sze Wing was once worried about being eliminated, afraid that the audience would not like her. As soon as she talked about this topic, she was in a cold sweat. As for her life goal, she laughed, "Traveling around the world, my family often told me when I was little that it was better to travel thousands of miles than to read 10,000 books. So I travel when I don't have to work, sometimes I am very happy to work overseas. Working in Norway earlier was a rare opportunity, and I want to go to South Africa when I have time!" Kaki Sham said that after the birth of his second child, he could travel as a family of four since the child is almost 1. He did not think traveling with children was troublesome, and smiled that it was the responsibility of being a father. Yeung Sze Wing praised him as a good Papa. Has she thought about becoming Mama? She laughed and said that she is now focused on work and wants to travel around the world the most. * (2025/05/01) In the Louis Koo Tin Lok, Neo Yau Hawk Sau and Angela Yuen Lai Lam starred, Cheuk Wan Chi directed film VITAL SIGNS (SUNG YUEN TOH JUNG), the three experienced the daily work of ambulance and medical staff, which was not simple. The film reflected issues of social concern, including medical care, education and immigration, etc., and explained their different life journeys, encountered various practical problems, and made helpless choices in dilemmas. Used to be the "Bull Demon King", Koo Tin Lok said that one of the big decisions in his life was when his father had a stroke. He made a vow not to eat beef again for the rest of his life, his father recovered and was discharged from the hospital, and he has quit eating beef for 30 years. Koo Tin Lok played the role of an ambulance team captain and a single father with a daughter in VITAL SIGNS. Due to the back problems that has troubled his character, and for the sake of the children's education and future, he was willing to give up his originally stable job and choose to take his daughter to immigrate to other places. Always putting his family first in real life, Koo Tin Lok said: "Although I don't have any children, I empathize with the character's low back pain. I had neck pain that was so painful I couldn't sleep and my daily life was affected. In reality, I can have discussions with my family. If I was the father in the film though, I may insist on going for the sake of my daughter's future." He stressed that he had no intention of emulating the role and immigrate. Faced with difficult choices at different stages of life, Koo Tin Lok said that leaving the TV industry to pursue a career in the film industry was not considered a major decision, nor did he ever worry about choosing between a career and love. The biggest choice in life was related to his family. "When my father had his first stroke, the doctor said that he could not save it and to be mentally prepared. At that time I was filming a drama, and I rushed to the emergency room of the hospital. I saw Ma sitting in the corridor sighing and saying that she has never traveled with my father by plane, and guessed that it would not happen. So I made a wish, 'I won't eat beef anymore in this life!' Papa was really fine in the end. I'm a big steak eater, and I haven't eaten beef since that time. It was probably 30 years ago, it was a big decision." Yau Hawk Sau believed that the end of the online channel he singlehanded created, Trial and Error, involved many reasons. After careful consideration, he made the difficult choice. Yuen Lai Lam worked hard for her career, often leaving Hong Kong to fly to other places to work. In order for the cat to be properly cared for, she decided to hand it over to his family for foster care, and struggled several times over before making the decision. Koo Tin Lok has a lot of scene with Yau Hawk Sau, who also played the role of an ambulance worker, and both respected the ambulance workers' ability to grasp time to save lives. Koo Tin Lok thought about becoming a firefighter before entering the industry, but he had the impression that becoming a medical or ambulance worker required professional knowledge courses, so he did not consider it. Yuen Lai Lam played the role of an emergency room nurse, the character had a manic personality and often had to use foul language. She regarded that as a major attempt since she entered the industry. Koo Tin Lok remembered a scene in the film where he went to a construction site with a chainsaw to save a South Asian who has been pierced through the lungs by a metal bar. He thought it was "a little terrifying". How did the script move him? Koo Tin Lok said, "First of all, movies very rarely or perhaps never attempted the subject of an ambulance worker. Secondly, the film explored the topic of the migration wave in recent years. Many people have become 'astronauts' in modern times, in addition to other medical and educational problems that Hong Kong was facing. I think these subjects can be made into films." Koo Tin Lok and Yau Hawk Sau both had experience with ambulance rides. Koo Tin Lok said that after graduating from Form 5, he was so happy and got carried away. When he crossed the road a truck hit him, and he was sent to the hospital for treatment. "After the crash my clothes were all torn up. I lay on the ground unconscious for about 5 to 10 seconds. After waking up I was carried into the ambulance and sent to the hospital. I had stitches over my right eyebrow, and I still have a scar. At that time the front of the truck was smashed, and the driver was lying over the steering wheel." Yau Hawk Sau also had a similar experience. While driving from a small road to the main road in the early morning, a vehicle T-boned him. The car was a total loss after turning 180 degrees. He laughed and said, "I only had the accident after finishing this film. At the time I sat in the ambulance on to way to the hospital in a white car, I had a special sense of familiarity with the ambulance team. However I was traumatized at the moment." Yuen Lai Lam was glad that she has not needed an ambulance ride. After making the film she realized that the equipment in the ambulance turned out to be very expensive and advanced, and her eyes were opened. * (2025/05/01) The Chung Suet Ying, Neo Yau Hawk Sau and Marco Ng Tsz Ho starred movie THE WAY WE TALK (HONG NGOR GUM TIN JUM MOR SUET) was officially released in Taiwan. Chung Suet Ying and Ng Tsz Ho flew to Taipei the day before yesterday to attend the premiere and start a promotional tour of Taipei and Kaohsiung. Chung Suet Ying won the Best Actress at the 61st Golden Horse Awards for this film, so her return to Taiwan this time was of great significance to her. The premiere attracted a number of deaf groups to attend, and many hearing-impaired friends enthusiastically asked questions in sign language. The atmosphere was warm and touching. Returning to the place she won her first Best Actress award, Chung Suet Ying said that she felt honored and the most unforgettable thing was the enthusiastic reaction of the Taiwanese audience. "Taiwanese hearing-impaired friends are so happy to use sign language to express their feelings, I fully feel their enthusiasm." She got the opportunity to make this film because she knew sign language and understood the hearing impaired. After not winning Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards, she said that she did not feel lost. She even thanked to the Hong Kong Film Awards for letting three young people bring the story to the stage and performed in the form of songs. After completing the promotion of Taiwan, she will continue to attend the film festival in Singapore. Since she has not met Singaporean audiences, she was full of expectations for this trip. Ng Tsz Ho said that after more than 180 post-screening sharing sessions, his expression skills have improved a lot. * (2025/05/01) Michelle Wai Sze Nga attended the diamond brand event yesterday to celebrate Mother's Day in advance. She smiled and said that in addition to being an actress, she has also worked as a lifeguard and obtained the qualification of diamond appraiser. She hoped to go to "grab work" in many fields, and she was able to show her strengths on this day. She revealed that she has bought the most diamonds for her mother as a Mother's Day gift, and the largest one is 1 carat. She planned to give extra Mother's Day gift this year. When asked if her husband would give her a diamond reward for becoming a Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actress, she smiled and said no but the 3-carat engagement ring on her hand was already precious enough. Speaking of winning the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actress, Wai Sze Nga smiled sweetly and shared the interesting story of her husband Chau Chee On crying excitedly in the audience. "I watched the video again. He was all tears, very cute and lovable. I made fun of him all night. I said to him, wouldn't you feel embarrassed? You haven't contributed to the film industry at all, but you had so many shots?" She was grateful for her husband's unconditional support like a comrade-in-arms. At first she worried that her husband would be bored at the award show, but she would not have guessed that he was very soothing, and even laughed that her husband silently shot a lot of award ceremony tidbits for her, so she should take him out to shoot more videos in the future, which can be cut into a special. Winning 7 Best Actress awards With the movie THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI YUK) and equaling Kara Wai Ying Hung's AT THE END OF DAYBREAK (SUM MOR) record, Wai Sze Nga humbly said that she did not dare to compare with her elders. Everyone's support deeply moved her. She revealed that her parents were so excited that they "called out to the sky" when they watched the live broadcast, and the entire Sheung Shui heard them. Papa even celebrated with champagne. Although after winning the award she already had to work immediately and has not had the opportunity to see her parents, she would take advantage of Mother's Day to bring the award home. If her parents would be willing to "take in" this Best Actress Award, she would give it to her parents as a gift. At the awards ceremony, "Brother" Tommy Chu Pak Hong once again became a hot topic. Wai Sze Nga joked that he stole the spotlight with what he wore, but when Brother won the award she cried. When she won Brother cried again. She was grateful for having this brother to walk with her on the show business journey. "The greatest strength is not only family affection, but fate." Sean Lau Ching Wan said in an interview that the most touching thing about the night was to see her win the award and even praised her efforts over the years. Wai Se Nga burst into tears instantly and needed to pause the interview to calm down. She recalled that when she was at a low point in her career as an actor, she once thought about whether she was suitable to continue. Lau Ching Wan's unintentional encouragement became the driving force for her to persevere. "When filming INSANITY (BO FUNG YU), Ching Wan said to the director, 'This girl performs very well'. Later we ran into each other in the dressing room of SONS OF THE NEON NIGHT (FUNG LUM FOR SHAN). The costume designer jokingly asked Lau Ching Wan if he knew me. Ching Wan said that he thought I performed well in INSANITY, and he still remembered me." Wai Sze Nga thanked Ching Wan for the encouragement and even promised, "I hope that in the future, I can be like Mr. Ching Wan and give an encouragement to others. It is a great motivation. If I would become an elder in the future, I want to be a good elder like this." [ In Production Now/Soon ] Can : Long Fa Nam Nui d. During the recent concert, Miku saw Ichika touching many hearts with her voice. It gave Miku hope that by understanding Ichika, she might also be able to transmit her voice to others. Summoning her courage, she approaches Ichika. Ichika smiles in response to her request and says, "If I can help in any way," readily agreeing to assist her. Thus begins the new story of Hatsune Miku and the teenagers. SEVENTEEN [RIGHT HERE] WORLD TOUR IN CINEMAS d. Yoondong Oh SEVENTEEN Length : 130 mins. Opening March 23 2025 [ GOLDEN SCENE CINEMA ] In March 1972, Rebecca Pan self-financed the production of the first ever Mandarin musical, Pai Niang Niang (1972) and performed for 60 times at Princess Theatre, Tsim Sha Tsui. This is not only a piece of history of Hong Kong art and culture, but also the most important milestone of Rebecca's oeuvre. This work used the Broadway musical model to adapt the famous Chinese myth Legend of the White Snake. Bringing together Eastern and Western theatrical styles, the production combined Chinese traditional music, dance, costume and stage design with modern Western concepts. Despite this bold attempt, the resulting work was ahead of its time and was not a commercial success. Also, it was thought to have not been captured on film and faded into obscurity. In April, 2023, however, a partial film record of the performance was miraculously discovered. The restored surviving footage has become the finale of this documentary, Pai Niang Niang: The Last Osmanthus Blossom. This documentary is directed by director Wong Tsui-wah, Isabel. During the years of observation and excavation, Isabel has been looking for various aspects of Pai Niang Niang, and through this documentary, she recorded every detail of Pai Niang Niang. PIERCE d. Patrick Tam, in a performance of searing intensity, breathes life into a character confronted with the ghosts of his outlaw past, and clinging to hope for rebuilding his fractured life and finding new purpose. Chan, the acclaimed writer of the "Ip Man" franchise, infuses the film with a sense of hard-bitten optimism, suggesting that even in the darkest of times, an indomitable spirit can light the path to a better tomorrow. Her baby daughter Qing is difficult and cries constantly and Jing frequently clashes with her live-in in-laws over childcare and housework, while her husband, who works as a delivery driver, views parenting as something he occasionally helps with. All she did was have a child, yet Jing's life is turned upside down, leaving her in a situation where all her efforts to build her career have been negated. His services become a hit with everyone except a crotchety conservative Taoist priest, Master Man, who is unconvinced that Dominic is committed to spiritual care. Thus Dominic digs into all of the details of deathcare while discovering Man’s dedication to the dead means he disregards his nearest and dearest. Filmed in funeral homes in Hong Kong's Hung Hom district, the film has a ring of authenticity while delivering whip-smart verbal comedy via Michael HUI and Dayo WONG as a mismatched pair. From there, it opens up into a more considered look at the Taoist influence in Hong Kong’s funeral rituals and a fascinating family drama that explores how gender roles are affected by these traditions. [ HAWAII INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL ] Starring current Hong Kong comedy king Dayo Wong and comedy legend Michael Hui, THE LAST DANCE is the story of a debt-ridden wedding planner who finds unexpected success as a funeral planner, but he has to win over a traditional Taoist priest to stay in the business...The pandemic has sent most industries into recession. Mired in debt, wedding planner Dominic gets a miraculous chance to turn things around when a funeral planner retires and passes the baton to him. Planning weddings and funerals are polar opposites, but Dominic puts his all into his new job, from opening graves, digging coffins, to handling the deceased. No matter how unpleasant it gets, he takes on everything with gusto. However, the biggest obstacle is getting the approval of respected Taoist priest, Master Man. In his 70s, Master Man is a traditional man who has devoted his life to his Taoist faith. He wants to pass the mantle to his son, Ben, but Ben is more devoted to his wife and kids than to Taoism. Master Man's daughter, Yuet, respects her father greatly. However, since her ancestors dictated that women are filthy by nature, Yuet doesn't take romantic relationships seriously. A few day later, the two men cross paths again. Choi has been ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation due to his alleged involvement in reckless driving, and Man is assigned to his case. Man quickly realizes that Choi struggles to differentiate between dreams and reality. He constantly sees "devils". Awake or not, his mind can never rest; his body continues to waste away. As hopeless as Choi's condition seems, Man is determined to get to the bottom of his story. As Choi's story unfolds, Man begins to experience disturbing and perplexing dreams. These dreams are vivid and unsettling. The deeper Man delves into Choi's past, the more intense and haunting his nightmares become. Man becomes increasingly suspicious of what is pay for uncovering the ghosts hidden in Choi's closet? [ CINEMA ONLINE MALAYSIA ] Choi San-keung, a taxi driver who perpetually lacks sleep, thus endangering anyone who sets foot in his taxi. One passenger is psychiatrist Dr Man, who survives the taxi ride and offers to help Choi. The offer is refused, but Choi later becomes Dr Man's involuntary patient after a particularly egregious night of driving. Dr Man has his own personal issues: his motto is "I think a doctor should do more than prescribe meds," which means a doctor should also investigate his patients secretly in defiance of common sense and hospital protocol. In a parallel to Choi, Dr Man also has sleeping issues. He suffers from disturbing dreams of his deceased mother, which hints at a secret involving his father, and perhaps some repressed memories. ------------ For the week starting May 3 2025 (Week 18) VIUTV CHILL CLUB CHART 5 LOW PROBABILITY BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE Can : Hor Nung Sing Pin Dai Dan But Si Moot Hor Nung CY Chan Chung Chak https://youtu.be/6bIGAQsdYWs 4 PHD Can : Wing Yu Bok Si Kiri T https://youtu.be/i1ijH0bwLBg 3 THEREAFTER Can : Yin Ji Hau Jay Fung Wan Him https://youtu.be/2EdosoB8GeY 2 WHERE THE HEART LEADS Can : Sum Ji Sor Heung The Absent Brother https://youtu.be/K-kTCeup7iw 1 DAMSEL Can : Bei Ket Nui Wong Cath Wong Yin https://youtu.be/DlVKS_FQUrE TVB JADE SOLID GOLD 5 NATURE IS GOOD Can : Sing Poon Sin Vivian Koo (Kok Ah Mei) https://youtu.be/YvcrhFtXASs 4 FOLLOW ME German Ku Cheuk Man https://youtu.be/a97kPu8xyrU 3 ETUDE OF DREAMING Can : Fat Mung Lin Jap Kuk Felix Lam Chi Lok https://youtu.be/-3_RzZHc4yg 2 CATCH A FEELING Aska Cheung Chi Ho https://youtu.be/qfCJF0ZAgoA 1 IT'S NOTHING Can : Ngor Moon Sup Mor Doh Bu Si Mayao Ma Tin Yao https://youtu.be/aARDJdC40oQ METRO RADIO HIT DOMESTIC CHART 5 DEAR LOSERS Can : Cup Sut Bai Jeh Dik Yat Fung Shun Nowhere Boys https://youtu.be/UZ4pEHCdHCw 4 IN DOUBT Can : Wai Yi Yun Sun MC Cheung Tin Fu https://youtu.be/Lmm6dfPiJDM 3 PANDAROO Can : Bo Bing Gei Charmaine Fong Ho Man https://youtu.be/_0hl01gvyRk 2 PAIN IS JUST AN ILLUSION Can : Kei Sut Tung Si Nei Dik Seung Jeung Tang Siu Hau https://youtu.be/XYIJuXN5hoE 1 NATURE IS GOOD Can : Sing Poon Sin Vivian Koo (Kok Ah Mei) https://youtu.be/YvcrhFtXASs COMMERCIAL RADIO 903 TOP 20 5 MORE THAN YOU KNOW Can : Nei Doh But Ji Doh Ji Gei Yau Dor Ho Gareth T. https://youtu.be/7jXqxjPfRjw 4 FRAGMENTS OF TIME Can : Si Gan Dik Shui Pin Arvin Tsang Ngo Fei https://youtu.be/FeH37qTnsII 3 APRIL WHISPERS Can : Sei Yuet Muk Yu Terence Lam Ka Him https://youtu.be/325j6LVzpYI 2 I CRIED BECAUSE YOU CRIED Can : Nei Lau Lui Sor Yi Ngor Lau Lui Dear Jane https://youtu.be/Hn1gk94I4zA 1 THEREAFTER Can : Yin Ji Hau Jay Fung Wan Him https://youtu.be/2EdosoB8GeY RTHK CHINESE POP CHART 5 NEW FANTASY Chantel Yiu Cheuk Fei https://youtu.be/5V-qwWHaEG0 4 IN DOUBT Can : Wai Yi Yun Sun MC Cheung Tin Fu https://youtu.be/Lmm6dfPiJDM 3 FLOWER OF LIFE Can : Fa Ji Sun Ming Pandora https://youtu.be/7PJf2HgtJJw 2 MORE THAN YOU KNOW Can : Nei Doh But Ji Doh Ji Gei Yau Dor Ho Gareth T. https://youtu.be/7jXqxjPfRjw 1 THE BEST VERSION OF ME Janice Vidal (Wai Lan) https://youtu.be/N17QwKvEaek HUAXIA ORIGINAL GOLD SONG CHART (Week 17) 5 LONG TIME NO SEE Can : Ho Gau Bit Gen Hu Ge, Tiffany Tang Yan https://youtu.be/U6rPi8ohp1o 4 KISS ME Chen Linong https://youtu.be/AqEE-r965XU 3 SPR.
