* (2025/03/12) The 23rd Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HKIFF) will 
be held from the 17th to the 19th this month, with 15 finalists in the WIP 
category and 25 finalists in the IDP category; among which the SP Fan Ka 
Chun directed, Debbie Lam Suk Yin produced film project SOMETHING IN THE 
WAY (BUT MING SI GEIN), and the Chan Si Ieong directed, Chan Hing Ka and 
Robin Yung Tsz Ho produced film project WAVES UNDER THE SEA (HOI BUT 
YEUNG BOR) have all been selectd as the finalists of this year's HAF In 
Development Projects.  Fan Ka Chun and Chan Si Ieong stuck to their 
movie dreams because of their passion, striving to achieve 150 points, 
face adversity optimistically, and actively look for opportunities. 
	The Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) is one of the key 
projects in the HKIFF Industry Project Market.  The selected films under 
the HAF Film Project would meet with international investors, producers 
and distributors during the Hong Kong International Film and Television  
Market (FILMART) to seek financing and collaboration.  Directors and 
producers of selected works in progress would even participate in open 
pitch conferences.  In addition, HAF also has a number of awards to 
further support the development of the project, help the film start 
filming smoothly, and even have the opportunity to be exposed at 
international film festivals such as Cannes.
	The director of the film SOMETHING IN THE WAY, Fan Ka Chun 
graduated from the 2018 Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild Master Class in 
Film Directing and the Professional Certificate in Screenwriting for 
Film class of Hong Kong Metropolitan University.  He said that he liked 
suspense thrillers, so he thought about whether he could make such a 
movie.  "The word 'unknown' in the Chinese title is to interpret as you 
can't see it, but what couldn't you see in you can't see it?  Therefore  
in the film a police detective who suffers from facial blindness does 
not see the appearance of people, but sees the dark side in people.  I  
want to use this story to tell how one person faces himself as he 
observes the evil in others."  Fan Ka Chun revealed that the production 
budget investment would be about HK$ 10 million, which would not be a 
low-cost production.  Based on the action scenes and some surreal 
situations on the screen, the CG requirement would naturally be more 
expensive.  He met a friend who worked on STRANGER THINGS overseas, and 
hoped to use the price of C Grade to make B Grade production.  He was 
also interested in Best Actor Wu Kang-ren for the lead role, and was 
currently also trying to make contact.
	Starting a production is already difficult in the current film 
market downturn, would it even more difficult for the two new directors 
who are making a film (feature film) for the first time?  Fan Ka Chun 
said, "You have to be optimistic, otherwise you will die!  You have to 
keep working and keep trying.  This is my first film, and I've done film 
work before; so I have to keep doing it, work when there is work.  
When there isn't I have to start writing scripts and look for the 
opportunities."  He pointed out that this financing forum was one of the 
best channels for them to tell film companies and producers about the 
story of the film.  Of course they would also try other platforms, as he 
has tried the Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers' film projects before.
	Producer Lam Suk Yin said that HK$ 10 million or more 10 years 
ago was nothing, but it would already be a big production today.  She 
pointed out that government financing could be a way to find investors.  
This time at the financing forum they would see what investors they 
could come into contact with, and then see how to keep going.  Fan Ka 
Chun said that in 2020 he has tried unsuccessfully to apply for the 
First Feature Film Initiative.  Did government's support of the film 
industry still have big restrictions?  Lam Suk Yin said, "Actually the 
government has been very relaxed, aside from the six First Feature Films 
that included the open group and the higher education institutions group 
every year, films could be financed all year round, and there are no 
restrictions on the subject matter."
	As for the film WAVES UNDER THE SEA's director Chan Si Ieong
graduated from the Hong Kong Baptist University Film School with a 
master's degree.  She explained that "The Sea Doesn't Raise Waves" is a 
plaque on the Mazu Temple, representing the blessing of the seaside 
fishing boats running into less wind and waves.  The story was inspired 
by the Chaoshan culture of her hometown.  The younger generation went 
out to study and received open education, but their parents were still 
traditional and had an ambivalent attitude towards the concept of 
hometown.  In terms of casting, Chan Si Ieong pointed out that because 
understanding the Hokkien dialect was a requirement, she was considering 
finding an inexperienced actor to perform.  Producer Chan Hing Ka said 
that he has no experience with this subject either, but this time he was 
also a script instructor.  He hoped that he could help Chan Si Ieong in 
the creative side.  He pointed out that the production cost of this 
film was estimated between HK$ 6 million yuan and 10 million.  He was 
currently waiting for the director to write a new script before looking 
for an investor, and he was confident about getting financing.
	Chan Hing Ka joined the film industry in the 80s of the last 
century and has experienced the most glamorous and lowest ebb of films.   
He said, "I thought that 2000 was the most difficult time, but now it 
is the most difficult.  In the 90s of the last century, there were 
counterfeits and the overseas market shrank, but I didn't expect it to 
be even worse now.  In the past small productions could still be kept 
open, ultimately the market always had a demand; but now it is no longer 
possible."  As for the prospects of the film industry, Chan Hing Ka 
pointed out that he is pessimistic on the whole but not necessarily 
individually.  "In the past during the most difficult times, (Gordon) 
Chan Ka Seung confided in me, telling me not to worry.  Usually under 
the best conditions a film would be made every two years; but now it is 
also a film every two years.  Actually few are being made, I can only 
try to do my best."  The entire film industry condition has been poor, 
so new directors would have even more difficulties starting production.  
Chan Hing Ka said, "Actually the government has done a good job now.  
With government funding, there are at least 10 movies every year, 
including financing, funding, and the first feature film initiative." 
How could the industry improve itself, and what could be done to turn 
it around?  Chan Hing Ka said that he saw that there are some investors 
who have not invested in movies in the past, such as THE WAY WE TALK 
(HONG NGOR GUM TIN JUM MOR SUET) was also invested by the Lee family.  
Believing that the subject would be an interesting movie, there would 
be non-professional investors to support it.  Speaking of the current 
phenomenon, TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI 
WAI SING) and THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI YUK) were a big successes but 
generally other movies had a dismal box office to form a very big gap? 
Chan Hing Ka pointed out that this situation was currently occurring in 
the mainland and even the world.  "As the saying goes, winner takes it 
all.  NE ZHA 2 has taken everything, the rest have all lost because it 
is too strong.  Only when the average could be pulled back a little 
would the market be healthy!"
	When the industry, such as the nine major film affiliated 
organizations, would talk about what countermeasures they had, would  
they would allow everyone to participate?  Lam Suk Yin said that she 
was also one of the representatives of the Federation of Hong Kong 
Filmmakers, and everyone has actually had a meeting.  "Some of the 
industry stakeholders may be mainly on-site workers, when everyone 
would participate there would be some differences in communication; 
but everyone had had the discussions.  For example, the recent salary 
increase and salary freeze issues, the government has also discussed 
these topics.  We have too, but is the only way to reduce salaries?  
Not necessarily.  We understand that casual workers, when productions 
are at a low ebb, have their poor living conditions.  So we need to 
make the boss to want to invest in film production and maintain it!"
	As for the salary freeze or salary reduction on the behind-the-
scenes personnel, would actors need to do it as well?  Lam Suk Yin said 
that actually of the new actors being talked about aren't really new 
actors.  Most have room for negotiation.  As long as there is a good 
script and the role has potential, many actors have room for 
discussion.   Would the two new directors be frustrated or devastated 
by the current market conditions?  Fan Ka Chun admitted that there must 
be frustration, so he had to persevere.  Because he liked movies, he 
still had to be optimistic.  "Although the road is so difficult, the 
only way to do it is to continue to do a good job.  If the perfect 
score of 100, you have to achieve 150 points and push yourself to 
persevere!"  Chan Si Ieong said that she should be optimistic as well.  
Speaking of ideals but she still needed to eat?  She joked, "I can only 
eat less, but I really like film.  In addition I just graduated, I 
already feel I am very lucky!"

* (2025/03/12) Sandra Ng Kwan Yu posted on social platforms last night, 
"My most beloved Old Man passed away."  Ng Kwan Yu personally confirmed 
the death of her father Ha Chun Chau, who was born on September 20, 1931.  
He was 93."
	Once Uncle Dong's daughter in law, Elena Kong Mei Yee secretly 
wed Vincent Ng Kwan Cheung for 10 years but ended up in divorce.  
Because they never publicized their marital status, when they 
separated they only said they broke up.  When the media asked Uncle 
Dong for confirmation, he revealed that his son and Kong Mei Yee were 
married as the breakup turned into divorce.  Kong Mei Yee still respected her former father in law Uncle Dong very much.  She commented 
on Kwan Yu's social platform: "May Uncle Dong be free suffering and find 
joy, and be reborn in the Pure Land, Namo Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, take 
care."  
	"Son of Mark Six" Frankie Choi Kwok Wai expressed sorrow, saying 
that Uncle Dong was an elder well worth respecting.  He would perform 
the Mark Six lottery drawing well so he would not soil Uncle Dong's 
reputation.  Sammi Cheng Sau Man, Edan Lui Cheuk On, Louis Cheung Kai 
Chung, Gigi Leung Wing Kei and others all eulogized Uncle Dong and 
consoled Ng Kwan Yu.
	Taking over for Uncle Dong as the Mark Six lottery drawing host,
the "Son of Mark Six" Choi Kwok Wai said, "I just saw the news through 
he media.  My condolences to Uncle Dong's family, please take care.  In 
the past few years I rarely ran into Uncle Dong in public, but in my 
impression, he was an elder who was very, very worthy of our respect.  
He was very nice and very professional.  When we worked together for 
the lottery he shared many skills with me and greatly benefit me.  I 
would continue to work hard on the lottery drawing so not to soil his 
title of 'Father of Mark Six'.  I would forever miss him."
	Ha Chun Chau (originally named Ng Kam Chuen), nicknamed "Uncle 
Dong", "God of Wealth", and "Father of Mark Six", was the father of 
three children, including Sandra Ng Kwan Yu and Vincent Ng Kwan Cheung.  
Ha Chun Chau was originally a staff member of a foreign business and was 
interested in the performing arts industry.  He enter the industry in 
1953, and organized an amateur drama troupe with Ho Chor Wan, Chan Bing 
Kau and others in the early days.  He then applied to Radio Television 
Hong Kong as a broadcaster.  Later he organized another amateur troupe 
on his own.  In 1957 he switched to Rediffusion Television (RTV) and 
continued to work as a broadcaster.  In 1961 Ha Chun Chau once faded out 
of the entertainment industry, in order to support his family he changed 
careers to engage in restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, etc.  He 
officially made a comeback in 1969, returned to RTV and performed in  
dramas such as CROCODILE TEARS (NGOK YU LUI) and RAINBOW CONNECTIONS (WAN 
CHOI SUM CHU), variety shows, women's programs, etc.  He then worked in 
Asia Television until 2000, a 30 year long tenure.  He has appeared in 
many films and dramas, including RISE OF THE GREAT WALL (CHUN CHI WONG) 
and ALL IN ONE FAMILY (MOR DUN CHUT SUP YI GA FONG HAK), etc. For 
17 years from 1976 to 1993, Ha Chun Chau hosted the "Mark Six" live 
lottery drawing, so he is also known as the "Father of Mark Six" and the 
"God of Wealth".
	In his later years he still made guest appearances in comedy 
films such as ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL 2012 (BAK SING PO HEI), HELLO BABIES 
(LUK FUK HEI SI), ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL 2009 (GA YAU HEI SI 2009), all of 
which brought many happy memories to the audience.  The most talked-
about would be his advertisements for the Family Planning Association of 
Hong Kong, and promote the concept of family planning and responsible 
parenthood.
	Uncle Dong after retirement was still very active, attending 
events with his wife Aunt Dong and supporting his daughter Ng Kwan Yu's 
movies; Kwan Yu also often shared her parents' family photos, but in 
recent years Uncle Dong has not appeared in public.
	Uncle Dong's relationship with Ng Kwan Yu was particularly good. 
He once said in an interview, "The greatest achievement of my life is 
having Ng Kwan Yu."  When Kwan Yu joined show business after graduating 
from secondary school, Uncle Dong made the connections.  He applied for 
the RTV training class for her but received no response.  Later he took 
her to see Lau Fong Kong and was accepted into the TVB artist training 
class.  However Uncle Dong said that Kwan Yu's development and 
achievement later came from her own effort and had no help from him. He 
praised Kwan Yu as a filial daughter, once financially capable she took 
the initiative to support her parents.  He was proud that everyone 
called him, "Ng Kwan Yu's old man". 
	Uncle Dong's stage name Ha Chun Chau (Summer Spring Autumn), 
missing only winter out of the four seasons.  Thus he was called "Uncle 
Dong".  On Kam Kwok Leung's program ATV 100 CELEBRITIES, Uncle Dong spoke of his experience of hosting the lottery drawing for 17 years.  He 
said that his colleagues were afraid that they would call the wrong 
number during the drawing, so very few people were willing to substitute 
in for him.

* (2025/03/11) The Nick Cheung KaFai written, directed and starred PEG O' 
MY HEART (SHOOK MUNG) would open on the 27th of this month.  Aside from 
the three leads of himself, Fala Chen and Terrance Lau Chun Him, The 
supporting characters included Natalie Hsu (Hui Yan Yi), Ben Yuen Fu 
Wah, Rebecca Zhu Lichen, Brian Lee Hoi Yin, German Cheung Man Kit and 
others.  In the film German Cheung Man Kit gave a special performance.  
He did not have many scenes, but attracted attention because this was 
the first time he performed with his cousin Cheung Ka Fai.  Cheung Man 
Kit said that although it was only a minor role and he had no scene with 
his cousin, he still enjoyed it.  He did not dare to disturb the 
director during the shoot, just minding the silent role he was playing.  
This was a rare collaboration.
	Playing Cheung Ka Fai's friend Ah Chi in PEG O' MY HEART, 
Brian Lee Hoi Yin also had both character appearance and acting 
breakthroughs that were big challenges for him.  He said that he has 
tried a lot of different firsts.  Brian thanked Cheung Ka Fai for giving 
him the opportunity to perform, "I have quite a connection with Brother 
Ka Fai, the first time we worked together was on NIGHTFALL (DAI JUI BO).  
This time I was also selected to play the film he directed, plus the 
role was something I have never tried and has a lot of scenes to play; 
so I am very grateful.  It was the first time I have shaved my head for 
a role, and the appearance had to match the evolution of the role.  From 
kindness to cruelty, these emotional changes really took a lot of 
thought.  It was a new experience, this bald head look really made the 
role served a great purpose.  Sometimes while having my makeup fixed, I  
would see my fierce face and scared myself too! I'm looking forward to 
seeing the audience's reaction."
	Hui Yan Yi played Lau Chun Him's patient in the film.  When 
filming a dream scene, she saw a giant headed baby covered in blood.  
She confronted the giant headed baby on a swing over the pool of blood, 
and at first thought that the prop giant headed baby was very cute, but 
as filming went on she got the chills more and more.  "It was like a 
duel, back and forth we shot for 6 or 7 hours.  At first I thought it 
was very cute, but in the end I really hated it.  The process was very 
realistic, especially when seeing his face covered with blood I thought 
was very terrifying and uneasy.  I believe after playing on the swing 
this time I would never do it again!  Because after a hour of the shoot, 
my back was already so sore.  However when I watched the playback 
afterwards, the entire atmosphere was very shocking so it was worth the 
pain."

* (2025/03/11) The Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild Annual Dinner and 
Annual Awards Ceremony were held at a hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui last night 
with 35 tables that night.  Many filmmakers attended, and the scene was 
star-studded.  Michael Hui Koon Man and Michelle Wai Sze Nga were crowned 
the Best Actor and Actress together for THE LAST DANCE, and Tommy Chu Pak 
Hong was also awarded the "Best Supporting Actor".  THE LAST DANCE's 
Kwok family had three winners in one house!  As for the Supporting 
Actress, Jo Koo (Kok Cho Lam) of PAPA won; Soi Cheang Pou Soi won the 
"Best Director" for TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING 
JAI JI WAI SING), and the film also won the "Best Film"; Director Wong 
Kar wai was awarded the "Honorary Award".
	Last night Chow Yun Fat (Fat Gor) and his wife, Hui Koon Man 
(Michael), Sammo Hung Kam Bo and his wife, Louis Koo Tin Lok (Goo Jai), 
Soi Cheang Pou Soi, Joe Cheung Tung CHo, Ng See Yuen, Andrew Lau Wai 
Keung, Ann Hui On Wah, Wong Jing, John Chiang Dai Wai (Brother John) and 
his wife, Kara Hui Ying Hung (Sister Siu Hung), Simon Yam Tat Wah, Richie 
Jen (Yam Yin Chai), Philip Ng Wan Lung, Ray Lui Leung Wai, Irene Wan Bik 
Ha, Chrissie Chau Sau Na, Catherine Chau Ka Yee, Hedwig Tam Sin Yee, 
Michelle Wai Sze Nga, Fish Liew Chi Yu, Lin Minchen, Ko Cho Lam, Philip 
Keung Ho Man, Tony Wu Tsz Tung, Tommy Chu Pak Hong, Natalie Hsu (Hui Yan 
Yee), Chung Suet Ying, Louis Cheung Kai Chung, Rosa Velasco (Wai Law 
Sha), Rachel Leung Yung Ting, Cloud Wan Ho Ying, Feanne Wong Suk Man, 
five members of MIRROR and ERROR's Dee Ho Kai Wah attended the 
award ceremony, and the scene was star-studded.
	Ten awards were presented at the event, including "Best Film" 
for TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING).  
This film's director Cheang Pou Soi also won Best Director with the 
film.  Both "Best Actor and Actress" went to THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI 
YUK)'s young actor Dylan So Man To.  "New Director" winner was LAST SONG 
FOR YOU (GAU BIT CHUNG FUNG)'s Leung Lai Yin.  The "Executive Committee 
Special Prize" winner was FOUR TRAILS' director Robin Lee.  The Honorary 
Award winner was director Wong Kar Wai, but due to work he was unable to 
attend.  Cheang Pou Soi and Cheung Tung Cho accepted it on his behalf.  
He also shot a thank you video.  Wong Kar Wai not only thanked the 
Guild but also urged new directors that in the age of AI, movies were 
not absolutely rational.  They must remember that there would be people 
when there would be lights.
	The event also made special arrangement for the first Hong Kong 
Film Awards Best Actress Kara Wai Ying Hung to present the first Hong 
Kong Film Awards Best Actor Michael, who said on stage, "Everyone after 
43 years don't know what to say, but tonight getting the award is very 
special.  I am very happy, because for the first time when a film 
company asked me to make this movie it made it clear that from the 
beginning to the end there would be no laughter and it is about funeral 
parlor.  In addition the lead would have many scenes, almost having to 
play Ne Zha.  I have to tumble, which to me I have no confidence in; so 
the Directors' Guild award to me proves that I have gambled 
successfully.  I feel so accomplished because Hong Kong right now is 
very difficult, directors have such a hard time so they have to take a 
gamble.  Plenty of people are better in acting than me, so I took a 
gamble.  I am not good at math, the audience is smarter than me; so I 
have to do something new.  The future days (film industry) would be very 
difficult too, Hong Kong has always had to take a gamble.  It has to 
start over anew."  He also thanked director Chan Mou Yin for making such 
an interesting and enlightening movie.  He felt that the director was 
very sharp.  He also lamented that life was so short, you must get off 
the ride.  So the goal was not important, you should enjoy the scenery, 
people and things along the way.  Tonight's award must be one of the 
most beautiful scenery along the way for him.  Would Hui Koon Man want 
the family of three to win again at the Hong Kong Film Awards next 
month?  He said, "The girl definitely will not lose, the boy has been 
trained in authentic performing art training and is very sharp.  He 
probably can.  I myself have no confidence."
	When Wai Sze Nga was announced as the winner, the entire 
audience cheered.  She was excited after receiving the award from Yam 
Tak Wah, and in a shaky voice she thanked the Directors' Guild, her 
company Emperor, the film team and the director Anselm Chan Mou Yin 
for his courage to use her, her on screen Papa Michael, brother Chu 
Pak Hong, Dayo Wong Tze Wah and Elaine Jin (Kam Yin Ling) because the 
effort of the entire team made the character successful.  She also 
said, "I have been in the industry for 17 years, and I would like to 
thank the directing staff who are willing to use me on my acting 
journey.  I feel very lucky to have everyone's advice.  All those 
drips and drops made me what I am today."  She did not forget to 
take the opportunity to promote herself, and said that she would 
continue to be a humble actor.  In an interview after winning the 
award, she said that she still has not calmed down, and she was 
very happy to see a family of three in the film winning awards.
	Brother John was responsible for presenting the "Best 
Supporting Actor".  Before the winner was announced, Brother John 
even joked, "This person has hit me, and in the film I even lost to 
him."  Later Chu Pak Hong was announced as the winner.  When he came 
to the stage, others told him to cry first.  Chu Pak Hong said, "Cry?  
Let's not, it's so embarrassing."  In the end he still could not help 
but turn his face and cry.  He said that winning the award felt very 
special, "Everyone at the Directors' Guild are spoiling me.  Most of 
the time in my life has been spent to please directors, so I feel 
very, very honored."
	Kok Cho Lam won the newly added "Best Supporting Actress" 
award this year for PAPA, and Louis Cheung Kai Chung presented the 
award.  Kok Cho Lam said that she did not expect to win the award 
beforehand, and joked that it was good to be the first Directors' 
Guild  supporting actress as she could become an icon.  She wanted to 
thank the people who voted for her, and Director Philip Yung Tsz 
Kwong for boldly asking her to play the role.
	Fat Gor presented the "Special Award of the Executive Committee" 
to the FOUR TRAILS director Robin Lee.  After presenting the award, Fat 
Gor and Robin Lee took a selfie with the guests on stage.  Fat Gor said 
that he did not know why the event asked him to present the award at 
first, but when the winner was announced, he understood why.  He said 
that he had seen the award-winning film and strongly praised it.  "It 
is very touching and inspiring.  I am a hiker, and then I go for a run.  
I have been to the locations in the film, and every protagonist in the 
film has inspired me a lot.  Everyone has set a goal, and they have to 
achieve it until they die.  It is a very inspiring movie."
	Goo Jai presented the New Director award to LAST SONG FOR YOU 
(GAU BIT CHUNG FUNG)'s director Leung Lai Ying.  As soon as Goo Jai came 
on stage, some people in the audience yelled for Goo Jai to sing a song.   
Goo Jai replied, "What, Lau Wai Keung?  I can't just sing, I have to 
dance too."
	Siu Chai was responsible for presenting the "Best New Actor" 
award, and the winner was PAPA's young actor Dylan So Man To.  On the 
stage Siu Chai joked that he was already longing for this award now, but 
he could not get it.  So Man To in his acceptance speech said that he 
was very embarrassed, saying that he was an amateur who was very shy.  
However he still thanked the director Philip Yung Tsz Kwong, his on 
screen Papa Sean Lau Ching Wan, Ma and SIs.  The family of four had 
quite a connection and felt very right.
	Sister Siu Hung made a special trip from Shanghai to Hong Kong 
to attend the Directors' Guild spring banquet and served as a guest 
presenter to present the "Best Actor" award.  She was a little nervous. 
Speaking of the recent success of several Hong Kong movies, Sister Siu 
Hung said, "I have watched them all, even NE ZHA 2.  I am in the film 
industry, of course I would support all movies."  Sister Siu Hung said 
that she would have to go back to Shanghai to continue filming dramas 
and fashion shows.  What co-stars would be in her new drama?  She said 
that because she signed a confidentiality agreement, she would not be 
able to reveal it until two or three months later.  The only thing that 
could be revealed was that a Hong Kong director would make it.  She has 
not made a movie in Hong Kong for more than four years.  She said that 
she has been very busy in the mainland, and she has always been unable

	Malaysian goddess Lin Minchen appeared at the Hong Kong Film  
Directors' Guild event last night, along with members of her rumored 
girlfriend Edan Lui Cheuk On's group MIRROR Anson Kong, Lokman Yeung, 
Tiger Yau, Frankie Chan and Alton Wong.  They even brushed by each 
other.  Minchen revealed that she would return to Malaysia in April to 
shoot a horror film, and was expected to stay for a month.  Would she 
not have the time to date?  She pleaded to be spared.  Referring to 
being at the same event with MIRROR members, she confessed, "I don't 
know them at all, so I wouldn't go out of my way to say hello."
	As for the MIRROR members, when asked if Edan was not in Hong 
Kong would they help take care of "sister-in-law"?  They pretended not 
to understand at first, but Lokman later revealed that they did not know 
each other.  Speaking of appearing at the Directors' Guild, did they 
want to look for jobs?  Lokman admitted, "From the bottom of my heart I 
came to look for jobs, but during chatting I wouldn't be so gross.  I

* (2025/03/11) The movie LITTLE RED SWEET (HUNG DAU) has been in release 
for more than a week and was well received by all walks of life.  The 
audience praised the film for its strong Hong Kong feelings, delicate 
and timely depictions.  Following previous honors such as the "Golden 
Angel Award" at the 2024 Chinese American Film Festival and the 
closing film of the 2024 London East Asian Film Festival, the film 
was also selected for the 28th Sonoma International Film Festival and 
will be screened at the film and television festival.  The film 
festival praised the telling of a warm story about family bonds and 
love through the background of a Hong Kong traditional dessert shop's 
survival under the threat of city planning.
	Earlier director Vincent Chow Wing along with Simon Yam Tat Wah, 
Mimi Kung Chi Yan on the March 8th Women's Day visited different cinemas 
to thank the audience and interact with them.  Director Chow Wing said, 
"Thank you for your support, our film LITTLE RED SWEET was selected for 
this year's Sonoma International Film Festival.  The audiences in North 
America will be able to enjoy a film full of Hong Kong feelings."   Yam 
Tat Wah said, "There are a lot of desserts, but I think red bean soup  
should go farther, to more places around the world so that people can 
enjoy this emotional movie in addition to food."  Yam Tat Wah also 
laughed and said that many viewers will really go for red bean soup  
before or after watching LITTLE RED SWEET.  While the sweetness was in 
the heart, their sugar content has also increased.  Everyone should also 
put this sweetness in their hearts, so that people would be able to 
maintain a better relationship with others.  Kung Chi Yan said, 
"Everyone feels so warm, I hope everyone will support LITTLE RED SWEET  
more."
	An audience member asked Yam Tat Wah, why he has a grudge 
against his daughter (Stephy Tang Lai Yan) in the film?  Kung Chi Yan 
smiled and said, "He is a chauvinist, it isn't a grudge."  Yam Tat Wah 
said, "Teochew boys are good at taking care of their families, but they 
are rather chauvinistic.  They are traditional patriarchs, and mothers 
would have a difficult time.  Because in the past the family had to 
work, the family wanted a boy who would be able to help.  They worked 
non-stop for 24 hours to take care of the family, but they didn't know 
how to express their love with their mouths."
	Playing a flight attendant in the film, Amy Lo Wai Man two days 
ago thanked the audience with the director.  The audience not only 
praised the movie for its good script, but also praised Amy's good 
interpretation of the role that left a beautiful impression.

* (2025/03/11) Cecilia Yip Tung and Gardner Tse Kwan Ho (Brother Ho) 
co-starred in the movie TRUE LOVE, FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE (CHIN CHIN SHUI 
YUET) as a couple whose marriage broke down.  The two worked together for 
the first time in a movie.  Best Actor Brother Ho got the cold shoulder 
from the two time Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actress Yip Tung, because Yip 
Tung was already in character long ago.  Brother Ho did not dare to lack 
off and brought his "game" immediately.  Brother Ho joked that running 
into an acting maniac like Ceci was really very fun!  Ceci praised the new 
film as relatable like personal experience, feeling that the film would 
be able to withstand the test of time.  
	TRUE LOVE, FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE (CHIN CHIN SHUI YUET) was adapted 
from the novel "It's Over, It's Fate".  In the film, Ceci and her 
childhood sweetheart Brother Ho eventually became married and had a pair 
of children; but her husband's cheating led to the breakdown of her 
marriage, and when her ex-husband later became terminally ill she still 
took care of her and adhered to her belief in true love.  The author of 
the novel is Xie Shufen, one of the film's producers and screenwriters, 
which was also her personal experience.  Making her own story into a 
movie, Xie Shufen said that there would always be some people and things 
in everyone's mind that would always be remembered, "I was worried that 
one day I would forget my deceased ex-husband, so I had the idea of 
making a movie to catch his happy and unhappy life highlights!!"
	Ceci and Brother Ho collaborated on the stage play SHANGHAI 
BLUES as early as the 90s of the last century, and also co-starred in a 
TV series and played Hui Sin's parents.  They did not perform together.  
This was the first time they have collaborated in a movie.  Brother 
Ho laughed and said, "It feels so good, Ceci is a good actor.  She 
is so focused that she ignores me.  The scene is about our 
relationship had some minor issues.  The neglect really came at 
the right time.  Great, even so I am here!  Actors had to play 
like this to have fun, they really were drama fanatics!"  Yip Tung 
fought to explain what was "being neglected".  "The reason is 
Brother Ho's time is limited, he had to shoot as soon as he came!"  
Brother Ho also explained, "I was in so many units, the location 
had to be returned after awhile. Whenever we went to shoot at a 
hospital, it was different!"  Yip Tung joked, "When I want you to 
pay attention to me, you don't.  You are so vengeful!"  Brother Ho 
clarified again, "At the time I was sick (in the plot), it's just 
a mistake like this.  The movie is also interesting, and I felt 
it was so interesting when I went back, not deliberately."
	Brother Ho feels that he and Ceci definitely have a 
chemical reaction in the movie, "Writing a women's scene, two big 
men Chan Gor (producer) and the director collided to set off spark 
and realistically tell the story.   They would not dwell at some 
sad scenes, there would  always be some withdrawals to make the 
scene richer like the scene where the food stall played the music 
of 'Love in the Snow'.  It would not  romanticize one thing, 
everything was so real.  There are joys and sorrows, there are 
beautiful and ugly, this scene smashed out a chemical reaction and 
hit it well, I feel it's very entertaining to watch."  Ceci agreed 
that movies were very lifelike, every scene seemed to be related 
to herself as if it was a personal experience, no matter the 
environment, the conversation between the children and the husband 
would be very similar to life, and it was easy to invest in it 
during the shoot.
	This time they shot a real person and a real story, not to 
mention that it was the story of the boss's wife.  Would they feel any 
pressure?  Ceci laughed and said that the boss lady would not supervise 
the scene, and only came to the set to shake hands and introduce 
herself when she was close to the end of filming.  Through the book she 
read, she already had a little concept in her heart.  "Who would be so 
stubborn that he wanted to shoot her own story.  That character of 
never admitting defeat and must fulfill her dream was very Hong Kong 
women, not tender but very independent and self reliant.  It would also 
scare off many people.  I held on to this personality, during the 
performance through his text to interpret his feeling.  So I don't feel 
it would be difficult."
	The whole movie was shot with a mobile phone, which Brother Ho 
said that he felt quite fresh.  Although he would be a little 
unaccustomed to the performance at the beginning and he would look for 
where the camera was, slowly he would not find for the camera but only 
the life in the film.  He also pointed out that mobile phone 
productions also brought convenience.  Many tricky angles like in the 
narrow environment of the tram, the mobile phone with a selfie stick 
could do it.  However would the actress be concerned about her 
appearance, as the mobile phone would not be as detailed as the 
camera? Ceci said with a smile, "I'm not a greedy actor, I'm really 
filming for the sake of filming.  Fortunately I have experience as 
actors, because the shooting progress with a mobile phone was much 
faster.  On one hand I had to turn in the home work and provide 
material, so it all depended on years of experience."
	Brother Ho bluntly said that in the first few shots of the 
production he had doubts about whether the result will be achieved, but 
Ceci believed that doubts were doubts.  "It's impossible for me to keep 
questioning whether the shooting is good or not, whether it is beautiful 
or not.  My responsibility is to render the feelings of a scene in the 
most realistic way."  Brother Ho felt that the results of this 
production were very textured and real.  In addition to coordinating 
with their experienced actors, some special contract and even non-
professional actors were all very compatible.  On the other hand 
sometimes in front of the big camera the performance would not be well. 
This time really had a sense of life.  Ceci said that the movie subject  
could be presented in this way because it is like shooting a video at 
home, but it did not mean that mobile phones would be able to replace 
traditional shooting methods.
	TRUE LOVE, FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE applied for this year's Hong Kong 
Films Awards but unfortunately did not receive any nomination.  Some 
veteran filmmakers have seen Yip Tung's performance, describing her as 
the gem that this year's Hong Kong Film Awards missed.  With her 
delicate performance she should be included among the "Best Actress" 
nominees, Yip Tung heard it and gratefully said, "Thank you for the 
appreciation, but I don't make movies for award.  I am very happy to 
have such reviews, it's a bonus!"  Since Brother Ho and Ceci were 
already Best Actor and Best Actress, would they feel that winning the 
award was an encouragement and they would rather choose good roles to 
satisfy their acting bugs? Brother Hao smiled and asked, "Do I have to 
choose one of the two?  People are greedy so of course they want both, 
no one will mind having more!"
	Ceci also said, "Our movie is indeed relatively alternative, 
just like the Chinese title of the film "Shallow Years" it tells a light 
story.  It does not deliberately create an atmosphere, does not 
deliberately talk about the relationship between men and women, and the 
characters are not good and evil.  It is a refreshing genre, so special.   
I am already very happy to have the opportunity to play this role.  A 
film from a female perspective in Hong Kong film, with a good co-star 
and a generous boss lady, it has been an unforgettable experience."  As 
for whether to win the award or not, Ceci thought that people might not 
have adapted to this direction.  "Maybe two years later everyone will see 
it and feel differently, but it will be able to stand the test of time 
because it is so close to everyone's life."  Brother Ho had another 
opinion.  "The film seems to be light, but actually isn't light.  It is 
about the biggest thing in life -- life and death.  Nothing is bigger 
than life and death; it is more dramatic than family problems, but we 
choose to use a not so dramatic way to express it.  It is realistically 
rendered, I myself feel it so deeply, the relationship between husband 
and wife is worth reflecting on.  I would reflect on it again after 
watching it; in the movie I am on top of the business world, but once I 
get sick I have nothing.  I was like a little kid, going for a twin 
popsicle and taking the tram to find memories; which touched me a 
little!"
	Brother Ho and Ceci were originally born in the same month of 
the same year, both had March birthdays.  They both showed chemistry 
and chatted freely during the interview.  Would they look forward to the 
next collaboration? Ceci smiled and said, "It depends on Brother Ho's 
schedule!"  Brother Ho joked, "No way, her birthday wish is to work with 
me.  My birthday wish is the same!  May your birthday wish come true!"  
Yip Tung smiled and thanked him, "Just as you say!"
	The Fruit Chan Gor produced new film TRUE LOVE, FOR ONCE IN MY 
LIFE paired up Yip Tung and Tse Kwan Ho.  Chan Gor said that the story 
was adapted from real people and real events, and said that the casting 
required professional actors.  Otherwise achieving the meticulous 
emotions in the film would be difficult.  Everyone immediately thought 
of Yip Tung and Tse Kwan Ho, and everyone clicked right away.  Yip Tung 
smiled and pointed out that Chan Gor's works have always been hardcore 
and often experimental.  This time he was willing to shoot a women film, 
which she thought was a very special attempt.  "I am very happy after 
receiving the script.  Now very few movies are willing to shoot from the 
perspective of a woman's mentality.  This performance relies on acting 
skills, as it has to display some plain and solid emotions.  Sometimes I  
want to display them using drama, which would have the chance of 
performing excessively.  (Have you been reminded to hold back a little?)  
There were one or two scenes I had to, especially the divorce scene.  
The emotions at that time had been brewing inside for many years and 
broke out all at once, but the producer told me to hold back and hold 
back some more.  I did again and again.  I had to make adjustments, 
and then I felt that he adjusted correctly; otherwise I don't know how  
explosive I would have been."
	Was she reminded of how she got along with her husband during 
the shoot?  Yip Tung said with a smile: "When filming I would more or 
less think of myself in reality. I think everyone has thought about 
whether their partner is faithful to themselves, I am no exception and 
have thought about this problem.  The character will argue with her 
husband, we would argue too.  I would be very mad at him for often 
staying silent.  Sometimes I would think that start arguing would be 
even better.  This might be the difference between men and women.  
Actually what is the woman mad about?  She is mad at you staying silent 
and preventing nothing has happened."

* (2025/03/10) Jennifer Yu Heung Ying, Fish Liew Chi Yu, and Natalie Hsu 
(Hui Yan Yi) starred GIRLFRIENDS (NUI HAI BUT PING FAN) was selected for 
this year's Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum "Work In Progress".  
Winning the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actress last year, Yu Heung Ying 
has had a bumper year in the past year.  Work has been nonstop as she 
worked on television series and films.  Lately she has been busy with the 
film LIVING TO WIN (MIN SI DUT GUNG DUI).  Earlier she secretly took a new 
film that was shot in Taiwan.  Her husband brought their daughter to 
visit her on the set and feed sheeps together, as she enjoyed family 
time while at work.

* (2025/03/09) Anita Yuen Wing Yee (Lang Lang) joined Malaysian actors 
"Counterfeit Lin Minchen" Miko Wong Jie Kee, Juztin Lan (Lau Kai Fai), 
and Chan Fong to attend the movie MOM'S BIG NEWS (OMG! AH MA YAU HEI)'s 
March 8th Women's Day promotional screening.
	The film was released in Malaysia during the Lunar New Year, and 
Lang Lang said that it was still in theaters, ranking third at the box 
office.  As for the Hong Kong box office, she said, "I have always been 
very ignorant of the box office, and the most important thing is to have 
a happy filming process.  When the result can answer to myself and the 
audience then it's OK.  In addition the audience's taste is elusive 
now."
	Lang Lang revealed that she made the film because of the 
freshness of the subject, about the relationship between family and 
children.  After the filming she reflected as a parent.  She should 
listen more to the children, and what parents say is not always right.   
She said, "I am glad that my son (Morton Cheung) will confide in me, and 
will share 70%.  Of course I hope for even more.  He is going to study 
abroad next year, he has not decided what subjects to choose.  His 
interests are in song arrangement and composition, but parents want 
their children to choose subjects that can make a living in the future.   
I feel that my son will have to face his own life after graduating from

* (2025/03/09) "The King of Comedy" Stephen Chow Sing Chi's new film, 
which has been in preparation for more than 1 year, started production in 
Shenzhen the day before yesterday.  A large number of advertisements for 
"paying to visit the set" appeared on the Internet, claiming the 
opportunity to take photos with actors in the film Zhang Yixing and 
Dilraba; of course they were all false!  On the day of the production 
start, fake work permits even appeared on the set as more than a dozen 
people wanted to sneak onto the set to chase stars.  Fortunately the 
security guards found them in time to ensure the safety of the production 
team!
	As the world is on the decline, fake tickets of star concerts 
would appear from time to time.  No one would have imagined that even 
the set would have fake work permits!  Chow Sing Chi's new film WOMEN'S 
SOCCER (tentative name) started production in Shenzhen the day before

	Chow Sing Chi's movies have always liked to promote amateur 
actors, such as Eva Huang Shengyi of KUNG FU HUSTLE (GONG FU), Kitty 
Zhang Yuqi of CJ7 (CHEUNG GONG 7 HO) and Lin Yun of MERMAID (MEI YUN 
YU).  He held a large-scale audition for the film in Taiwan last year, 
and selected the top 6.  Now the film has started filming, after a one-
on-one interviews with Chow Sing Chi the new "Sing Girl" was finally 
born.  She is known as the "sweet version of Shu Qi", Isabelle Zhang 
Tianyi.  With 40-inch long legs and a beautiful appearance, she is quite 
similar to Lin Yun; who was accused of looking like Shu Qi in her debut,  
both in appearance and body shape.  Reportedly Lin Yun, who still 
maintains a friendly relationship with Chow Sing Chi after the 
expiration of her contract, may also make a cameo appearance.  The old 
and new "Jing Girls" have a great chance to be on the same set.  Zhang

of her new film TRUE LOVE, FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE (CHIN CHIN SHUI YUET), and 
yesterday on her 62nd birthday, she and her on screen family Gardner Tse 
Kwan Ho, Vanora Hui Yuet Sheung and Himmy Wong Ting Him conducted a 
"tram memory tour".  They rode the tram together to relive the 
production, Yip Tung even cut a birthday cake at the scene to celebrate.  
The premiere of the film was held the night before, Yip Tung dressed up 
for the occasion.  She received support from a large group of fans.  
Fans even chanted "Happy Birthday" from time to time to congratulate the 
birthday girl.  Jo Koo (Kok Cho Lam), Liz Kong Hei Man, Lisa Ch'ng Sze

Ronald Cheng Chung Kei revealed that he suffered from depression and

successfully quitting drinking, he has returned to Hong Kong in a low-
key manner and appeared on his YouTube channel "RTV".  Although he was 
much thinner, he was in decent spirits.  Cheng Chung Kei recently even  
returned to his alma mater to share with the students and encourage them 
to deal with stress problems the positive way.  He said that he always 
thought that alcohol could reduce stress, but he became addicted.  He 
got a lot while quitting drinking in the United States; taking his  
depression as an example, he have seen a doctor for 20 years.  He had  
to be brave enough to ask for help if he had a problem.  The Cheng Chung 
Kei starred movie ATONEMENT (AH LONG) was originally scheduled to be 
released next month, but yesterday reportedly due to a release schedule 
change the originally scheduled media interview was also cancelled.
	Cheng Chung Kei said that in order to overcome his drinking 
addiction now, he would find something to concentrate on.  Actually the 
craving for the feeling from drinking lasted only 8 to 15 minutes, after 
that he would not having that feeling of really wanting a drink.  Cheng 
Chung Kei spent half a year training to star in the movie ATONEMENT (AH 
LUNG), which was originally scheduled for release next month and has  
arranged for media interviews.  However yesterday reportedly the release 
date has changed and the interview was cancelled.

* (2025/03/08) Known as the "counterfeit Lin Minchen", Malaysian actress 
Miko Wong Kit Kei earlier worked with Best Actress Anita Yuen Wing Yee 
on the movie MOM'S BIG NEWS (OMG! AH MA YAU HEI) in Malaysia.  The film 
will be released in Hong Kong soon, and today the "March 8th Women's 
Day" an introductory screening will be held at Causeway Bay.  Miko will 
also come to Hong Kong to meet with Yuen Wing Yee, investment boss and 
actress Chris Tong Binyu and the audience.

* (2025/03/07) Stephy Tang Lai Yan was nominated for the Hong Kong Film 
Awards  "Best Supporting Actress Award" for the first time with the movie 
LOVE LIES (NGOR TAM DIK NA CHEUNG LUEN OI), which she would face normally.  
She was very happy just to be able to participate, and now she has put 
all her energy into the "Tang Lai Yan STEP by STEPHY Concert 2025" held 
at the Hong Kong Coliseum from March 14th to 16th.  She admitted, "I 
don't dare and don't want to think too much, this time I have a special 
performance in LOVE LIES.  There is no lead actor burden.  I got to play 
all I want.  Getting a nomination only from playing around, I can say 
that it is a bonus.  Everyone likes and remembers this role, as an actor 
this is what is the most important.   What it brings me is that the 
audience wants to see the prequel or spin off of my character, instead 
I look forward this happening more than the award."
	Speaking of the strong competition this year, she said that she 
worked her with THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI YUK) nominee Rachel Leung Yung 
Ting in 2014 on the movie SOMEHWERE BEYOND THE MIST (LAN TIN BAK WAN).  
At the time Leung was still a girl and Stephy joked that she watched her 
grow up.  "I have said this before, at the time I already thought that 
this girl is incredible.  I feel that she definitely would be great in 
the future.  Now she has proven that to everyone.  She worked on every 
movie very seriously, she really put her heart into her scenes in THE 
LAST DANCE."   
	Stephy has already spent her second Valentine's Day with her 
boyfriend, and her ex Alex Fong Lik Sun (Siu Fong) has just announced 
the news of her secret marriage.  Would that make her accelerate her 
thinking about this life event of marriage?  Stephy smiled and pointed 
out that she has not forgotten about it, let alone being reminded.  
"Other people have other people's business and I have mine.  My life is 
very busy, right now my mind is full of concert stuff.  (Have you talked 
with your boyfriend about it?)  No, I haven't had the time and I am in 
no hurry."  She has entered the ranks of advanced maternal age and it 
was time to have a baby?  Stephy said frankly, "I am really casual, I 
may not necessarily have one.  I am more and more inclined not to give 
birth, because I see a few good sisters of Cookies are very busy, even

	Award presenter Cheng Sau Man has won the Film Critics Society 
"Best Actress" twice.  Two years ago she won with LOST (LAU SHUI LOK FA) 
and the first time was in 2001 with WU YAN (CHUNG MO YIM).  She 
cherished the awards very much and was greatly encouraged.  She said 
with a smile that she was not as strong as Lau Ching Wan's five "Best 
Actor" awards.  "Lau Ching Wan is stronger, I want to learn from the 
elder and hope that I would have the chance to make a movie with Ching 
Wan again."  She was also happy for Tam Sin Yin.  "When we performed in 
LOST LOVE, she was still new.  I saw her enormous improvement, and I 
have to push myself to continue to improve.  This year I will make 
movies, and I hope the characters I pick would have breakthroughs.  I 
really like PAPA, I hope to have a chance to work with director Yung 
Tsz Kwong."  As for the Film Critics Society president's comment that 
the film industry would experience a cold winter period, she believed 
that the Hong Kong film industry will be able to get out of the cold 
winter with selfless dedication and sharing.
	Yung Tsz Kwong said that he too hoped to be able to work with 
Cheng Sau Man.  This is the first time I win the Director Award.  I used 
to be a film critic, the Film Critics Society is absolutely unbiased.  I 
once participated in the Society's internal discussions.  The Film 
Critics Society Awards remind everyone that how great certain Hong Kong 
films are, they aren't necessarily an industry award.  However it would 
use different angles to encourage movies that maybe everyone would 
consider in the minority."
	Lau Ching Wan was very happy to receive the "Best Actor" for the 
fifth time.  He thanked the Film Critics Society for its support over 
the years.  He would constantly read their movie reviews, which are 
very clear and cultured and have been an inspiration to him.  He said 
that he did not have any special celebration, as due to the cold 
weather he has been in a rush to get home.  His performance in PAPA was 
rated as having depth.  He joked that only the director and the script 
had depth, and he himself was superficial.  "If I didn't hear the 
host talk about my reviews, I wouldn't have known that my performance 
has such depth.  I have always thought my acting is a little 
superficial.  Thank you Director Yung Tsz Kwong for waiting many years 
for me and also thank you to my family in the film.  They are a group of 
people who put their hearts into their acting, giving me a lot of 
inspirations and new ideas.  Our city only has a population of several 
million, it is very hard to demand our movies to have several billion at 
the box office; but I believed that maintaining our specialties and 
cultural characteristics and properly developing them, we definitely 
would have a good chance." Was he more confident about winning the Hong 
Kong Film Awards?  Ching Wan pointed out that the two award ceremonies 
were very different, and he has always been confident in himself.  "I 
have seen that the film industry has been so lively recently.  With 
everyone's hard work, many excellent films have been produced like THE 
LAST DANE and TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN; both are full of 
local cultural characteristics, and they can all develop in this 
direction in the future."  He stared at Hedwig Tam Sin Yin and 
continued, "We also have great actresses, we can do many good things 
together."
	Tam Sin Yin was emotional when she accepted her award.  "Only 
this moment is real.  This award is encouragement and support.  Thank 
you Director (Oliver) Chan Siu Kuen for spending several years to write 
the character for me.  Thank you Mommy, she is the one who leads me to 
find Suk Ching (her MONTAGES OF A MODERN MOTHERHOOD character).  I hope 
the movie would help different mothers open up and discuss the modern 
motherhood anew and awaken children to heavy appreciation for mothers."  
Was she confident about winning the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actress?  
She was just like Ching Wan and cited that the standards and voting 
methods were different.  She would treat it normally and did not have 
any particular confidence.  Other nominees all performed very well, so 
it would depend on the voters' tastes.  Who was the strongest rival?  
She said that she was her own greatest enemy.  She also said that she 
longed to work with Ching Wan.  At the event she greeted him and 
introduced herself.
	THE LAST DANCE made over HK$ 160 million at the box office, but 
it only received the Recommended Film Award at the Film Critic Society 
Awards.  Founding member Manfred Wong (Man Jun) once spoke up over this 
injustice.  Yesterday THE LAST DANCE director Anselm Chan Mou Yin 
happily accepted the recommended film award and said, "Wherever there is 
an award in Hong Kong I will go to accept it there, because the original 
intention of making the movie is not for awards.  Having a movie to make 
is already great.  Man Jun is an elder and is very doting on younger 
generations like us, but I don't particularly feel that we need to be 
spoiled.  I hope that the cast and the crew of every film will continue 
to work hard to face the audience."
	Speaking of THE LAST DANCE's 18 nominations at the Hong Kong 
Film Awards, he wanted the most for all of the actors to win the awards.  
It was a pity that Dayo Wong Tze Wah was not nominated, but he was not 
disappointed to have 18 nominations.  In addition, the extended version 
of THE LAST DANCE will be screened on April 4th, increasing the length 
from 127 minutes to 141 minutes, re-editing and adding the scenes of 
Vincent Kok Tak Chiu and Tze Wah's on screen half-brother Kaki Sham, and 
revealing the life history of Elaine Jin (Kam Yin Ling)'s character, as 
well as a very well acted scene by Michelle Wai Sze Nga, which will be 
presented to the audience.

* (2025/03/07) NAKED KILLER (CHET LOR GO YEUNG)'s Hong Kong director 
Clarence Ford (Fok Yiu Leung) passed away from heart disease and kidney 
cancer in Sha Tin Hospital on February 1st last year at the age of 68.  
The Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers spokesperson Tin Man Kai said that 
after receiving the news of Fok Yiu Leung's death in February this year, 
he has been verifying it and did not make the official announcement 
until yesterday.
	Fok Yiu Leuang participated in the RTV training class in 1977 to 
receive training as a screenwriter and director.  After graduation he 
worked as an assistant writer and director.  Later he switched to TVB as 
a writer and director, and participated in the writing and directing of 
dramas such as THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY, THE BUND, and THE 
BROTHERS.  Fok Yiu Leung began to show his strength in the film industry 
in the 80s of the last century, making his directing debut with the 
Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing, Danny Chan Pak Keung and Paul Chung Po Law 
starred film JOB HUNTER (SUT YIP SUN).  In the same year TVB promoted 
him to producer, and the television series he produced after included 
MY LITTLE DARLING and NO ONE IS INNOCENT.   In 1984 Fok Yiu Leung hoped 
to join the film industry fully and terminated his contract with TVB.  
He also made movies like THE GREATEST LOVER (GUNG JI DOR CHING), THEY 
CAME TO ROB HONG KONG (BAK BO KEI BING), THUNDER COP (SUN DIP HUET 
SEUNG HUNG), and SPECIAL ID (DUT SHU SUN FUN).  
	Fok Yiu Leung was known for thinking fast on his feet, his 
diligence and his speed.  His THE ICEMAN COMETH (GUP DONG KEI HUP) was 
one of the earliest films with time and space travel subject; THE DRAGON 
FROM RUSSIA (HUNG CHEUNG FEI LUNG) was the first Hong Kong film to be 
shot in Moscow.  He also made two category III films that were well 
responded to with completely different styles, REMAINS OF A WOMAN (LONG 
SUM YU TEET) and NAKED KILLER.  In 1992 he directed NAKED KILLER and 
made Chingmy Yau Suk Ching a star.  Because of NAKED KILLER he was even 
known in Hollywood, as GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY's Hollywood director 
James Gunn once recommended the film.  He said, "Director Clarence Fok’s 
category III Hong Kong film mixing genres, blood, action & sex in an 
anything-goes pastiche blew my mind. Chingmy Yau became my crush & Simon 
Yam the cool guy I wanted to be."  James Gunn even said that with this 
classic film and the Hong Kong films he has seen later, he was inspired 
to create GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.  After 2000, Fok Yiu Leung focused on 
making mainland television series.  He also participated in movies as an 
actor, with LET'S MAKE LAUGH II (JOI GEIN CHUT YUT CHING) he was 
nominated for the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Supporting Actor in 1986. 
	Director Wong Jing lamented the passing.  They worked together 
on numerous occasions in the past, the most memorable were NAKED KILLER, 
CON MAN IN VEGAS (DOH HUP DAI JIN LAI SI WAI GA SI).  Fok Yiu Leung 
helped me as his executive director.  He praised Fok Yiu Leung as very 
talented and was once on par with many famous directors.  Earlier when 
he went to work in the mainland, and Hong Kong has been able to see Fok 
Yiu Leung's work less.
	Sean Lau Ching Wan attended the event yesterday and was asked 
about the news of Fok Yiu Leung's passing.  Ching Wan said that he 
worked with Fok Yiu Leung in TVB in the early years.  In his impression 
Fok was very direct with his production, but they did not know each 
other too well in private.  Lee Lik Chi on social media eulogized him. 
"Miss you always."

* (2025/03/06) The Nick Cheung Ka Fai directed and starred new film PEG O' 
MY HEART (SHOOK MUNG) will be officially released on March 27th.  Cheung 
Ka Fai and Fala Chen played a loving couple who make a wrong choice due to 
a serious investment failure.  They fall into a catastrophe that they 
will never recover from, as their lives begin to fall into a nightmare.
	In the first scene of the first day of production, in the film 
Fala was desperate and ran to the terrace to jump.  The atmosphere was 
tense.  She was standing on a high-rise building, even in rehearsals 
every staff member around her was nervous for her, including Director 
Ka Fai.  There was only one wire around Fala's waist.  She put 
everything on the line for the performance, and in a moment of 
madness Ka Fai rescued her to prevent the tragedy.
	Fala said, "The first scene of the first day at work was already 
so emotional that I had to stand on the terrace and jump.  When we first 
tested the mark, because I wore slippers it was a little slippery.  The 
director immediately improved it after seeing it, and suggested that the 
slippers should be removed for a more stable position.  The action  
director also carefully calculated the length of the jumps and the 
wire's retract and release, and took sufficient safety measures to make 
me feel at ease to participate in the performance.  In fact, I was 
worried at first.  I had to cry bitterly, and I had wire stunt and jump 
off the building.  I happened to be unwell and feverish, but fortunately 
everyone was fully prepared and completed the first scene on the first 
day of production after only three takes.  Ka Fai also told me 
beforehand that in order to concentrate on the position of actor that 
day, his directorial position was handed over to the assistant director 
and cinematographer; because this scene was one of the major ones and 
the first scene, although I didn't think I was in the best shape I was 
please as I completed it with everyone's cooperation."
	Although Fala's character was tragic, she chuckled, "Actually in 
real life I am even more tragic than the character, because the director 
asked me to lose weight.  In order to lose 5 to 6 pounds, I had to quit 
carbohydrates and my favorite food.  Yet it happened to Christmas, I 
could only watch others enjoy their Christmas feasts."
	Fala's character was tragic from beginning to end, crazy yet  
sympathetic; even the moment before the filming was completed, she was 
still crazy to the end, carrying a little girl she mistakenly thought 
was her own god daughter and running barefoot on the streets in the 
middle of the night.
	In order to participate in the film, Fala shuttled between Hong 
Kong and the United States.  On the day of the production wrap, in 
addition to her face her hands and feet were also covered with makeup 
bruises.  Fala took a picture of the makeup and sent it to her mother in 
the United States, but her mother believed it was real and was so 
frightened that she repeatedly told her to the emergency room.  
Fortunately, her husband knew that she was filming so he also helped 
comfort her parents to rest assured.

  state of desolate depression among the people of Hong Kong. "A

  In four chapters, Chan looks back at previous moments of resistance

  director Au Cheuk-man followed the non-profit organisation Paws 
  Guardian on their harrowing missions to rescue and rehome stray 
  animals – many of whom were abandoned, abused, or tortured. The result 
  is a heartrending collection of stories on survival and resilience, 
  highlighting the brutal realities faced by stray animals: of the 40 
  stray dogs featured in this documentary, only four ultimately found 
  new homes.
