* (2025/02/12) Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin (Ah Sa) played a sick gambler in the 
Lunar New Year film MY BEST BET (CHEUNG DOH BIT YANG), in reality she 
also liked to play mahjong with "mahjong mates" of all ages.  She has 
played with Deborah Li and Chan Suk Fun and praised the elders' tile 
skills, but the stakes were so big that Ah Sa did not dare to play 
mahjong with them again.
	Choi Zhuoyan and Louis Cheung Kai Chung played a couples in the 
Lunar New Year film MY BEST BET.  The former was a pathological gambler, 
and the latter hated gambling the most.  Ah Sa became determined to quit 
gambling, leading to comedy galore.  Both of them said that they were 
not into gambling, Ah Chung smiled and said that he usually very rarely 
gambled, and would only try his luck for New Year's money during the 
Lunar New Year.  Ah Sa however liked to "gamble in group", but she 
laughed and said that it did not matter if she played for money or not.  "I 
like to play mahjong very much, my 'mahjong mates' have a very wide 
age range like Stanley (Yau Si Chun), Jeremy (Lee Chun Kit) and Jer (Lau 
Ying Ting) and older ones like Lai Goo (Deborah Li) and Mrs. Chan (Chan 
Suk Fun).  However I have only played with Lai Goo once; they wager 
relatively big, which really scared me.  However playing with them was 
very fun, they're really sharp!"
	Life was like gambling.  Both of them said that the biggest 
gamble in life was to enter the industry.  Ah Sa said that she 
originally had to continue her studies, but because she wanted to enter 
the industry her father could only let her try for two years.  She could 
not have imagined that she would still be here now.  Did she feel that 
she has already achieved results?  Ah Sa joked that she was not at the 
bottom, but still had room to improve.  If she has not entered the 
industry at the beginning, she could not imagine what she would do now; 
Ah Chung said that he has always wanted to be an actor, so much so that 
it already became a disorder.  "I have never thought about working on 
other jobs, I have to enter the industry even if it kills me.  I am very 
grateful to be able to turn my interest into a career, and I feel that I 
am really lucky!"  Ah Sa said that actors and singers look very 
glorious on the outside, but actually everyone have to bear a lot.  Ah 
Chung heard and said, "I suddenly remembered that when I was filming 
GOOD TIMES, BED TIMES (LUEN SEUNG NEI DIK CHONG).  I was an extra at the 
time, Ah Sa was already the lead actress.  I had to arrive early in the 
morning and wait.  I saw that she was unconscious when she came, she was 
so tired that she just leaned to the side and has become an object.  She 
was asleep during hair and makeup, but she was very energetic for work 
as soon as they were done."
	Ah Sa recalled the "miserable situation" back then and felt so 
bleak, "The first few years have always been like this, filming a few 
movies at the same time, I was very tired.  Once I only slept for 3 hours 
in 5 days, and I couldn't go home to take a shower.  I had to wipe my body 
on the set, and I often fell asleep during makeup until I was filming with 
Ekin Cheng.  He said that falling sleep during makeup was very 
disrespectful of the make up artists.  Although they didn't mind, he asked 
me to think about under what circumstances would I be made up by someone 
lying down?  After his reminder, even if I was very sleepy I would widen 
my eyes.  So being an actor is continuing to grow, experience and learn."  
Ah Chung was also shy, saying that it was very rough to make dramas at TVB 
before.  He said with a smile that as soon as he got out of the Tseung 
Kwan O tunnel, his temper began to rage.   "When filming INBOUND TROUBLES, 
I had to take off my shirt.  In order to maintain my figure, I had to work 
out at home after work.  In the end I vomited as soon as I ate and I 
suffered from stomach bleeding, but I am very grateful for my training in 
TVB."

* (2025/02/12) The Spring Dinner of the Hong Kong Stuntmen Association was 
successfully held on the seventh day of the Lunar New Year, guests such 
as Louis Koo Tin Lok, Ng See Yuen, Joe Cheung Tung Cho, Golden Sun Film 
Distribution's Mrs. Lan, Yuen Shun Yi, Chung Fat, Tsui Siu Ming, Li Fai, 
Steve Lee Ka Ding, Yeung Pan Pan, Chin Siu Ho, Catherine Chau Ka 
Yee, Yuen Qiu, Dion Lam Dik ON, Bruce Law Lai Yin, director Teddy Chan 
Tak Sum and others attended.

	In order to implement the unique style of the stunt professional  
industry, as in previous years the lion dance entered the venue to 
kickoff the dinner.  Master Yuen Mo was invited to play the role of the 
God of Fortune to present the guests with the God of Fortune lai see, 
and the atmosphere was festive and lively.

	It was the seventh day of the Lunar New Year, also known as 
"Human Day" and also coincided with Yeung Pan Pan's birthday.  All the 
guests sang birthday songs to celebrate Sister Pan Pan's birthday.  At 
the Spring Tea every year the Association also has had special awards to 
recognize the efforts and contributions of the elders to action movies. 
This year's winners of the Outstanding Contribution Award are Gordon Liu 
(Lau Ka Fai) and Lee Ka Ding (Lord Ding).  The Outstanding Action 
Performance Award was awarded to Lam DiK On and Law Lai Yin.  In 
addition, members and guests voted for their two favorite action movies, 
namely TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI, action 
director: Kenji Tanigaki) and THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI YUK, action 
director: Wong Wai Leung).

* (2025/02/11) Director Albert Mak Kai Kwong has directed Lunar New Year 
films two years in a row.  Last year ROB N ROLL (LUM SI GIP ONG) received 
more than HK$ 20 million and was well received.  This year brought actors 
Louis Koo Tin Lok (Goo Jai), Tony Wu Tsz Tung, German Cheung Man Kit and 
Philip Ng Wan Lung, together with Gigi Leung Kei, Chrissie Chau Sau Na 
and Louise Wong Dan Nei to star in HIT N FUN (LUM SI KUET DAU).  This 
year's Lunar New Year box office fell as a whole, but HIT N FUN topped the 
list of Hong Kong-made Lunar New Year films with a cumulative revenue of 
nearly HK$ 12 million.  Mak Kai Kwong admitted that he was under a lot of 
pressure.  He was once lost, worried that his performance would not be as 
good as before and his reputation be gone in one shot.  Fortunately 
Director Johnny To Kei Fung (To Sir) "rescued" him and  rebuilt his 
self-confidence.  For several days he led the actors to thank the 
audience, and encouraged himself on his personal social platform, "As long 
as the bell doesn't ring, don't concede defeat".
	Mak Kai Kwong earlier the HIT N FUN production was very rushed, 
and completely relied on the teamwork of the cast and the crew.  The 
result also had some substance.  In addition to Koo Tin Lok and Wu Tsz 
Tung "bringing eyeballs", he also praised Wong Dan Nei and Chau Sau Na for 
being tougher than imagined.  "Wong Dan Nei with er fighting spirit can 
actually be a stunt person."
	Last year, the Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Gordon Lam Ka Tung, and Richie 
Jen (Yam Yin Chai) starred ROB N ROLL won word-of-mouth, which added 
pressure to Mak Kai Kwong when directing HIT N FUN.  He was a little lost, 
and could not find the direction of storytelling.  He asked To Sir for 
help.  "I said I am very scared, scared that everything ROB N ROLL built 
would be gone in one shot.  To Sir said that before making ROB N ROLL I 
also had nothing.  Film production requires a clean slate every time, so I 
didn't need to give myself too much pressure.  I immediately felt 
comforted and calm.  To Sir also reminded me not to run away.  Even if I 
find a problem in the middle of the filming, I have to hold on to the end.  
Worrying would be useless anyway, so I put this message from To Sir into 
the film." 
	However due to the tight production schedule, the limited 
production fee, and the approaching deadline, he became less and less 
secure and self-confident.  Mak Kai Kwong kept trying to find an excuse 
not to start work, and once had insomnia for a week.  "The last time when 
I made ROB N ROLL (LUM SI GIP ONG), I took 3 years to write the script and 
no release date was set.  This time I wasn't the screenwriter, and the 
release was schedueld for the Lunar New Year.  As work progressed I 
realized that many problems couldn't be resolved.  Thanks to encouragement 
from people around me, saying that when I was an assistant director I had 
no complete script; I have been through 'paper flying' without any issue."  
He revealed that HIT N FUN did not have a complete script, during the 
process was a lot of hardship.  Using his past experience as an assistant 
director, he gritted his teeth and got through it. "The screenwriter had 
it the worst, having to be on the set everyday and talk about what to 
shoot the next day after work.  When he got home he also had to write he 
script.  I have a habit during production, before work I would grab the 
screenwriter for breakfast or dinner to improve on the film.  I have to 
know the content very well before I can tell actors what to do."  
	Koo Tin Lok and Wu Tsz Tung played the legendary boxing champion 
and disciple in the film, Mak Kai Kwong said that they were not require to 
work out in advance.  Koo Tin Lok probably exercises regularly, and Wu Tsz 
Tung himself has an athletic background, and also practiced Muay Thai 
before.  "Earlier when I played soccer with To Sir and Wu Tsz Tung, I 
heard Wu Tsz Tung say that he has studied Muay Thai before.  The coach 
felt that he had the potential to be a professional fighter, but in the 
end he chose to be a baseball player."  He said that in the scene where Wu 
Tsz Tung and Wong Dan Nei had a heart to heart chat, both of them helped 
with the dialogue.  Ultimately they were always in the role, so they knew 
what was going on better, and the dialogue they came up with might be more 
accurate.
	Wong Dan Nei and Chau Sau Na fought over Chan Charm Man in the 
film and fought to the death in the ring.  In the film Wong Dan Nei 
did not know anything about Muay Thai, and she had to undergo tough 
training from Koo Tin Lok before the fight.  With every punch landing, 
anyone who saw would feel bad for her.  Mak Kai Kwong praised Wong 
Dan Nei for her diligence and toughness, so much so that she could be a 
stunt person, "I saw that she was slammed to the point that she only had 
half a life left, and asked her if she could keep going?" She didn't 
complain and said yes immediately.  Until one day, she grabbed the script 
and asked, 'Director, can I not fight in this scene?  I fought for a few 
days, but I haven't recovered yet.'  Actually before she spoke, the 
screenwriter and I have talked about not fighting anymore.  Because HIT N 
FUN isn't a boxing movie, no matter how we shoot the fighting wouldn't be 
as vigorous and exciting.  So much fighting has taken place before, if we 
keep fighting I am afraid that the audience would get tired of watching.  
I would rather start with the characters and depict what their state of 
mind is for the fight.  Although Chau Sau Na has few scenes, she is so 
diligent.  She still keeps training despite not having scenes in the 
middle.  When filming the ending fighting scenes, her changes are 
obviously noticable."

* (2025/02/11) Still in release in the mainland, DETECTIVE CHINATOWN 1900 
received 2.8 billion yuan (RMB) during the Lunar New Year.  A premiere 
was held in Hong Kong last night, two "DETECTIVE CHINATOWN" Wang Baoqiang 
and Liu Haoran, directors Chen Sicheng and Dai Mo made a special trip to 
Hong Kong to meet with the "Chinatown" Tong Lord Chow Yun Fat (Fat Gor) 
and appear together to meet the Hong Kong audience.  Fat Soh Jasmine Tan 
and Dr. Peter Lam Kin Ngok, Mandarin Motion Pictures Chairman Raymond Wong 
Pak Ming, Rebecca Zhu Chenli and her mother all attended the premiere.  
Fat Gor said that Wang Baoqiang and Liu Haoran invited him to join 
DETECTIVE CHINATOWN.  He also publicly called on the government to 
increase support to boost the Hong Kong film industry, and Fat Gor said 
that with good subjects he would be willing to reduce their salaries to 
support Hong Kong films.
	Fat Gor, Wang Baoqiang, Liu Haoran and the two directors 
appeared together in red promotional costumes, director Chen Sicheng 
said that this time DETECTIVE CHINATOWN 1900 added the Hong Kong 
audience's favorite Fat Gor.  Because mainland movies have always been 
average at the Hong Kong box office, he hoped that this time with Fat 
Gor will have better results.

	Wang Baoqiang and Liu Haoran have worked together for the fourth 
time, but Wang Baoqiang still felt that the performance was still  
challenging.  When the two met for the first time in the film, Liu 
Haoran only wore a pair of "boxers".  The two had to be in a fix 
position in mid-air, and they already wanted to laugh during the shoot. 
Liu Haoran said that he was afraid that he would vomit, so he did not 
eat or drink before the shoot.  "During the shoot I really wanted to 
laugh, but I had to hold it; otherwise we would end up kissing."  
	Fat Gor said that he was moved to perform because he received a 
good script that moved him.  "In 1994  director Wu Kam Chuen (King Hu) 
asked me to perform in a movie about Chinese railroad laborers in the 
U.S., but nothing came of it and later he passed away.  I never guess 
that 30 years later, Director Chen would ask me to make DETECTIVE 
CHINATOWN 1900 and play a Chinese worker.  How could there be such a 
coincidence, this can be regarded as a fulfillment of my dream, and also 
the dream of director Wu Kam Chuen."
	As for the large number of Putonghua and English dialogues in 
the film, including the scene where he defended himself in court and  
spoke a series of dialogues in fluent English for nearly three minutes, 
"Because 95 percent lawyers in America are white, I choose to defend 
myself.  How did everyone get here?  Who built this transcontinental 
railway, one hammer strike at a time?....." both the director and the 
audience were impressed with him.
	Fat Gor felt that it was also a new challenge.  As an actor, he 
also found it very motivating, "The few movies I have made in the United 
States before together have not had as long English dialogues as this 
time."  On the stage, Fat Gor joked that Wang Baoqiang after making 
Donnie Yen Chi Tan's movie actually spoke Cantonese very well.  He even  
taught Wang Baoqiang and Liu Haoran to tell everyone New Year's 
greetings such as "Wishing you prosperity and good health", and Fat Gor  
even joked that Wang Baoqiang's Cantonese with Hebei accent sounded 
great.
	After the launch ceremony, the three leads spoke to the media.  
Fat Gor said that because Wang Baoqiang and Liu Haoran would leave on 
the same day after the premiere, he would not have the opportunity to 
play host and take them to have Hong Kong gourmet.  Fat Gor also pointed 
out that they have worked hard since the first day of the Lunar New Year 
in a national promotional tour.  Would they come again to thank the 
audience if there was a good box office in Hong Kong?  Fat Gor replied 
on behalf of Wang Baoqiang with a smile.  "For HK$ 10 billion they will 
come again.  I have been to Guangzhou before to thank the audience, and 
I will thank the audience when friends in Hong Kong charter a show.  I 
will thank the audience all the way to the New Territories and all 19 
districts, thank everywhere until I 'wilt'."
	Would Fat Gor want to join DETECTIVE CHINATOWN as a detective in 
the future to investigate cases together?  Wang Baoqiang and Liu Haoran 
said in unison that they would have no problem, and would welcome Fat 
Gor to join.  The two were not afraid of Fat Gor asking them to run 
again, because they were used to running when they were not filming now. 
Would they come to Hong Kong to run a marathon with Fat Gor?  Fat Gor  
proposed that Wang Baoqiang run 10 kilometers with him.  Liu Haoran 
also joked, "I have no problem either, I just ran 10 kilometers on my 
birthday on October 10th.  It was also the first time I ran so long."  
Fat Gor praised him for having long legs.
	Speaking of Fat Gor not making a Hong Kong film for a long time, 
he joked that he could only make one if someone would hire him.  He 
could work on any subject, but he had to read the script.  What if he 
would need to speak a foreign language?  "Not Indian, I may be able to 
say just a few words!"  
	Has he paid attention to the new actors in Hong Kong?  "It's 
like Sister Lily (Leung Shun Yan)'s grandson (Nicholas) Yuen Ho Chung is 
pretty good, an actor I noticed and has won the improvement award.  
However very few movies are being made, and very few productions are 
starting.  It's very difficult."
	Fat Gor noticed that the Hong Kong film market has not improved, 
and pointed out that the mainland has similar problems.  The mainland 
market is large and people are willing to spend money though.  Hong Kong 
is poorer in that the bosses no longer invest in big productions, which 
have to borrow money and take out loans from the government.  When 
financing problems appear, directors would have difficulties when they 
want to make new subjects.  Is more encouragement from the government 
needed?  Fat Gor said, "The encouragement is not enough and needs more. 
Film production is so expensive, so expensive that you don't even 
recognize your own Ma.  Professionals can only take one step at a time.  
Hong Kong had more than 300 Hong Kong films produced every year in its 
heyday, and now there are only about 20 some left.  The gap is so big. 
Singapore, South Korea, Vietnam, etc. used to buy Hong Kong films, but 
now they all have their own local productions and don't need to buy 
Hong Kong films.   Income has invisibly become less, which has become a 
difficulty."  Fat Gor also pointed out that most Hong Kong-made films 
are mainly based on subjects such as drug sweeps, action, and family 
ethics, and it is rare for a boss to invest in alternative subjects 
such as A GUILTY CONSCIENCE (DUK SIT DAI JONG) and THE LAST DANCE (POR. 
DEI YUK).  Would he be willing to reduce his salary and make some 
sincere and low-cost productions?  Fat Gor said, "It's all about the 
script, when I like the subject, the price will be negotiable!"

* (2025/02/11) Philip Keung Ho Man (Hak Gor) and his wife Yin Ning worked 
together to concoct their first Lunar New Year film HA HA HA HAPPY NEW 
YEAR with warmth and joy.  Earlier Hak Gor brought his nephew's child and 
his family to enjoy his work and made a surprise appearance to thank the 
audience for its support.
	Hak Gor said excitedly, "I originally wanted to go to the 
theater with my family to watch this movie, but during the movie I found 
that the audience's reaction was very happy.  So when the show ended I 
stood up to greet the audience and thanked everyone for their support, 
and everyone was pleasantly surprised.  It just so happened that my wife 
has some 'hahaha gold medals' with her, so we gave them to everyone for 
the New Year.  I didn't expect anything, but I ended up bringing a big 
surprise for myself."
	Referring to the support his nephew's child Honey, the long time 
grand uncle said, "This nephew's daughter has always been very attached 
to me.  After she listened to me singing the HA HA HA HAPPY NEW YEAR 
theme song, she kept singing the lyrics of "Prosperity and Prosperity"    
and asked me many times to take her to the theater to watch the movie 
and listen to the song.  She also laughed along with the plot, which 
proved that this movie is suitable for all ages.  Finally she even 
wanted to be in the group photo with me and the audience, which is very 
funny."
	Despite the sluggish film market, Hak Gor was glad that many 
groups and merchants who chartered shows to support the film.  "These 
merchants include restaurants and beauty salons, Aside from watching 
the movie you can also have restaurant discounts with the ticket stub, 
which to viewers is absolutely worth the price of the ticket.  Of 
course I hope to attract audiences from outside Hong Kong to watch the 
film. Aside from attracting everyone to watch the film, I can indirectly 
promote or revitalize Hong Kong's tourism industry -- many birds, one stone."

* (2025/02/11) The Hong Kong Screenwriters' Guild announced yesterday 
(10th) the five nominees for the 2024 "Best Film Character Award", 
including PAPA's Sean Lau Ching Wan (as Yuen Wing Nin) and ROB N ROLL (LUM 
SI GIP ONG)'s Aaron Kwok Fu Sing (as Mui Lam Tin), and the Anselm Chan Mou 
Yin and Cheng Wai Kei written Emperor Motion Picture THE LAST DANCE (POR. 
DEI YUK)'s three leads Michael Hui Koon Man, Dayo Wong Tze Wah and 
Michelle Wai Sze Nga were all nominated to become the big winners.
	After receiving the news, Wong Tze Wah who played Ngai Tao Sun  
said, "Thank you to the Hong Kong Screenwriters' Guild!"  Hui Koon Man 
said that he was able to play the role of Brother Man, all thanks to the 
joint efforts of the director, screenwriter, and everyone in front of 
and behind the scenes of THE LAST DANCE.  "It is a special honor to be 
recognized by the Hong Kong Screenwriters' Guild, and I would like to 
express my heartfelt gratitude to all the film industry colleagues and 
the audience for their recognition.  I hope that THE LAST DANCE  will 
achieve more great results in the future!"
	Playing Kwok Man Yuet, Wai Sze Nga became the only actress 
nominated and was very happy to receive the good news.  Nominated last 
year with READY O/R ROT (BUT YUT SING FUN 2)'s Tsang Ho Yee, she felt how 
lucky she was.  "I am so grateful to have played two good roles for 
two years in a row and received everyone's love.  I would like to 
express my heartfelt gratitude to our THE LAST DANCE writer and director 
Chan Mou Yin and another screenwriter Cheng Wai Kei.  The role of Kwok 
Man Yuet has brought me many unexpected gains, and I am so grateful to 
everyone in the industry and the audience who loves this movie and this 
role!"
	ROB N ROLL's screenwriters Chan Wai Bun, Albert Mak Kai Kwong 
and Man Yuen Ching.  Also the director, Mak Kai Kwong retransmitted the 
news of the nomination and responded by quoting Mui Lam Tin, "Say thank

* (2025/02/11) The Wong Kar Wai directed, Maggie Cheung Man Yuk and Tony 
Leung Chiu Wai starred IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE (FA YEUNG NIN WA)'s 25th 
anniversary director's special edition  was officially announced for 
a Valentine's Day release on February 14.  This time, under the east 
wind of AI, let's see how Wong Kar Wai will win over the young new 
audiences again, and what "decryptions" he will have?  The answer lies 
in the "Wong Kar Wai and AI Dialogue" released on the 10th.  Wong Kar 
Wai revealed that the extended version of the film is closer to the 
original meaning, and emphasized that IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE is about

WAI SING) was released in Japan.  With a box office of more than 100 
million yen, it became the highest-grossing Hong Kong film there in the 
past five years.  Netizen yuu.records yesterday directly reported from the 
Japanese support screening of TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN, 
revealing that more than 400 seats were sold out early on.  Some 
audience members appeared in the cosplay, and many people brought their 
own glasses chocolate, support fans, rattles, etc.
	The barbecued pork rice in TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN 
set off a craze, and the audience was urged not to bring real barbecued

Dinner" was held the night before, attended by Permanent Honorary 
President Arthur Wong Ngok Tai, President Venus Keung Kwok Man, Ng See 
Yuen, Gordon Lam Ka Tung, Raymond Lam Fung, Michelle Wai Sze Nga and Ng 
Chi Hung, and the "Most Charming Actor and Actress in the Eyes of 
Professionals" awards were presented to Lam Fung and Wai Sze Nga, and 
the "Most Outstanding Cinematography of the Year" went to Cheng Siu 
Keung, the cinematographer of TWIIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU

	Receiving the "Most Charming Actor in the Eyes of Professionals" 
award, Lam Fung said that he was very happy.  He believed that he did

	Gordon Lam Ka Tung recently wrapped up  the production of the 
new film MO FAT YIU SHU (NO MERCY).  He even came to shoot overnight for 
several days, and filmed at the top of Tai Mo Peak on the coldest day 
with the temperature as low as two degrees Celsius.  Many staff members 
fell ill one after another.  Fortunately he has been exercising and was 
fine.  He revealed that the film was a mystery detective film.  He 
worked with Darren Wang Dalu and many action scenes.  Ka Tung said that 
in fact, he started to prepare for a comedy half a year ago and hoped to

* (2025/02/08) Hong Kong's Lunar New Year film HIT N FUN (LUM SI KUET DAU) 
collected HK$ 10,429,310 at the box office as of the day before yesterday, 
still occupying the top spot in the box office of Hong Kong New Year 
films.  Last night director Albert Mak Kai Kwong along with actors 
Chrissie Chau Sau Na, German Cheung Man Kit and Tony Wu Tsz Tung attended 
an audience appreciation events at cinemas.
	The box office of the movie has exceeded more than 10 million, 
and the three actors hoped that the box office in the New Year would of 
course be as much as possible.  Reaching 100 million would be the best.  
Would they pump up the box office again?  Cheung Man Kit said with a 
smile that he has gone to the gym to pump up his chest muscles and 
abdominal muscles, he would depend on what the film company would 
arrange for him to show to everyone.  Wu Tsz Tung has already paid his 
bill and wore "boxers".  Cheung Man Kit also promised to wear something 
low cut.  He joked that the weather has been too cold the past few days,

the night before, and the group's chairman Dr. Albert Yeung Sau Sing led 
its artists including Vincy Chan (Wing Yi), Bobby Auyeung Chun Wah, 
Catherine Chau Ka Yee, Irene Wan Bik Ha, Chan Kwok Bong, girl group VIVA, 
Angus Yeung Tin Yue, Arvin Tsang Ngo Fei, Ella Lam (Ai Nei), Aiden Hung 
Jor Sing and Hedy Chan (Hoi Yi) in attendance as well as manager Mani Fok

New Year blessings to Yeung Sau Sing at his office; Yeung Sau Sing

February 27.  LITTLE RED SWEET tells the story of a traditional Teochew 
family whose parents made a name for themselves in Kowloon City with 
their famous red bean soup and raised a pair of children.  Yet in the 
face of the death of her mother, her daughter gave up her dream and 
wanted to help her father keep the family business, but the son had no 
intention to.  The old store was forced to move under the giant wheel of 
the times, how would everyone choose between family, career and love?  
In the production special, Simon Yam Tak Wah bluntly said that he 
communicated with his daughter Stephy Tang Lai Yan in the wrong way in 
the film this time.  "My character also loves his children and wife, but 
actually he just doesn't know how to express his inner world and inner 
love.  So he uses the wrong way.  He would be stubborn with his elder 
daughter, but that doesn't mean he doesn't love her."  Yam Tak Wah's 
character was demanding in the desserts he made, which was equal to his

* (2025/02/07) Known as "Uncle Yu Ming" to many, Yu Ming was rumored to 
have passed away the day before yesterday.  His daughter posted on social 
platforms that her father passed away peacefully in his sleep on the 
morning of the seventh day of the Lunar New Year, the 4th of this 
month at the age of 100.  Uncle Yu Ming was in the film industry for 
more than 50 years, acting in more than 300 Cantonese films and 50 TV 
dramas, as well as participating in the TVB variety show ENJOY 
YOURSELF TONIGHT.   Uncle Yu Ming faded out of show business for more 
than 20 years and become to a great-grandfather, enjoying his later 
years at home in peace with four generations.  His daughter said it 
was a blessing that her father did not suffer when he died.  Nancy 
Sit Ka Yin and Uncle Yu Ming have co-starred in more than 20 
Cantonese films, and could not forget that he often told jokes to 
create an atmosphere and bring everyone a lot of joy on the set.
	Uncle Yu Ming was retired for more than 20 years, and his family 
occasionally posted his recent photos on social networks.  Uncle Yu Ming 
celebrated his 100th birthday in March last year, and at that time he 
posted a post on social platforms to respond to people online: 
"2024/03/18, thank you for remembering my birthday, everyone please 
be healthy, happy and safe, and auspicious!"
	Uncle Yu Ming was the husband of Bruce Lee's cousin Lee Chau 
Chuen.  The two had 3 daughters.  Already a great-grandfather, he had a 
four generation family, children and grandchildren galore.  Daughter 
Heidi revealed to the media that her father was taken to the hospital by 
ambulance on the 30th of last month due to fever and phlegm.  The 
doctor's diagnosis was pneumonia.  Papa had been asleep at the hospital, 
and then passed away in his sleep.  She was grateful that Father did not 
suffer, which was a blessing.
	Originally named Yuen Yiu Lun, Yu Ming has been involved in film 
production for more than 50 years.  He already participated in school 
drama performances in primary school, and participated in a theater 
company in Guangzhou from 1937 to 1945 during China's War of Resistance 
Against Japanese Aggression. In 1947.  He entered the filming industry 
under the recommendation of his brother and Cantonese film director and 
actor Yu Leung, and his debut work was Lee Tit directed, Yu Leung 
starred WAR CRIMINAL NO. 1.  He later participated in the Overseas 
Chinese Motion Pictures Company, Tai Seng Film Company and Lux Film 
Company and made more than 100 Cantonese films. 
	In the early days of his film career, Yu Ming played more 
villain roles.  Later he transformed into comedic roles, and his more 
famous works included the Yu Leung directed WEALTH IS LIKE A DREAM (FU 
GWAI FAU WAN) and the Chor Yuen directed RHAPSODY (CHING CHUN LUEN 
GOR); comedy masterpieces include A FOOL'S LUCK (SOR HUP KUN WONG), 
BEWARE OF THE HUSBAND (SIU FU CHAI), MAKING A LIVING IN A BLIND WAY 
(MUNG CHA CHA WAN SIK), RED LIPS OF MAY (NG YUEN DIK HUNG SHUN), 
etc., and was dubbed "Classic Cantonese Comedian".  In 1961, he hosted 
the Radio and Television Hong Kong program (FOR TAU DAI JEUNG GWUN).  
In 1970, the TVB variety show ENJOY YOURSELF TONIGHT's producer Robert 
Chua Wah Peng invited him to join the cast and become an artist to 
participate in ENJOY YOURSELF TONIGHT and series productions.  He 
retired in 1998.
	Nancy Sit Ka Yin and Uncle Yu Ming have collaborated on more 
than 20 Cantonese films.  They have rarely contacted each other in 
recent years.  She recalled their past collaboration experience, "Uncle 
Yu Ming watched me grow up.  I remember that when I was tired from 
filming on the set, he told jokes to make everyone laugh and create the 
atmosphere.  When I received the news, I was a little sad and reluctant; 
but after all he was 100 years old, a smiling funeral.  All good things  
come to an end in this world.  I treat it like he left for a happy 
place.  My condolences to his family."

* (2025/02/07) Tony Wu Tsz Tung and German Cheung Man Kit have attracted 
much attention for their earlier performance in TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: 
WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING).  The two continue to tell 
stories with action in the Lunar New Year film HIT N FUN (LUM SI KUET 
DAU).  Wu Tsz Tung revealed that for a disrobing scene in the film, he 
had to train more before hand.  Later he would have to make another film 
that would require him to show off his muscles, which gave him quite a 
headache during the Lunar New Year.  He would not be able to eat and 
drink as much as he would like.
	The Lunar New Year film HIT N FUN took boxing as its subject, 
and told one passionate story after another in a comedic way.  Wu Tsz 
Tung and Cheung Man Kit were like brothers in the film.  Cheung Man Kit 
and his master Louis Koo Tin Lok broke up due to different ideas, and 
decided to set up their own boxing gym and run it in a commercial way. 
However Cheung Man Kit pointed out that the role was just the opposite 
of what he himself was pursuing, "The role focuses on making money, but 
for myself ideals go first.  Of course there are times when I couldn't 
persist and wanted to give up.  I am not young, so I definitely have a 
lot of experience.  Specifically in this line of work, normal people 
can't stick to it.  Being an actor in Hong Kong is very difficult.  
When other professions have to think about how to live, this line of 
work know even less about how to think about life, how to use what you 
like to make a living.  I believe that every Hong Kong actor or film 
industry colleague would have experienced that, just depending how much 
you could endured.  I am still working because I like it.  I am a 
little different from everyone, since I have work involving stunts.  I 
hope to share the action experience with people around me to help 
improve this industry together. If everyone has this type of skills 
then make action films, then we can make progress in Hong Kong films."
	Wu Tsz Tung said that he was similar to the character's 
personality, and he would continue to persist even if he loses more 
than 30 times in the film.  He felt that was very similar to his career 
as an athlete and actor, "Whether as an athlete or an actor, there will 
be many setbacks in the middle; but I told myself that I like it very 
much, and I wouldn't give up because of a few frustrations."  He also

have to find goals for yourself.  It doesn't matter what you do, as long 
as you have no goal.  Even if it is down to details like you get up 
every day, cook and go to the gym, only with a goal can you be 
motivated; and only with motivation can you change."  He also revealed 
that he needed to remove his shirt in the film this time, but he could 
not relax after filming because the next job also needed him to show off

daughter in the television drama FOREVER YOUNG AT HEART but recently 
suspected of under TVB suspension over contract issues, Gigi Yim Ming 
Hay also went to the cinema to support "Hak Pa".
	Dressed in red, Gigi neither attended the premiere ceremony and 
nor was interviewed the night before.  She went directly to the theater 
to take photos with "Hak Pa".  Gigi later said that she was very happy

	TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI 
SING) was released in Japan and received more than 100 million yen at 
the box office, becoming the best Hong Kong film released in Japan in 
the past five years.  The long-lost Hong Kong film boom has also led to 
the re-creation of films and make Hong Kong food and entertainment 
popular again.  Zhao Weifang, director of the Film and Television 
Research Institute of the China Art Research Institute, says that the

	First of all, how to innovate the action genre?  Zhao Weifang 
says that the direct reason for the recession of action genre films is 
that the fight scenes and specific moves are too old.  Even if the 
director and creator want to innovate and find another way, but there 
are still not many that are done well.  For example, the mainland spring 
festival release, the Tsui Hark directed THE LEGEND OF CONDOR HEROES: 
THE GALLENTS, wants to innovate but the result is not ideal.  One of the

Japanese audiences re-understand the charm of Hong Kong films, but also 
brought new inspiration to Hong Kong filmmakers. The success of this 
film proves that Hong Kong films still have strong vitality and 
international influence.
	The film combines a variety of elements to create an intense and 
heartwarming viewing experience.  This inspires Hong Kong filmmakers to 
have the courage to break through, innovate and explore new ways of 
expression while adhering to the advantages of genre films.  Set against 
the backdrop of the unique Kowloon Walled City, the film showcases Hong 
Kong's market culture and historical changes, which arouses the 
curiosity and resonance of Japanese audiences about Hong Kong. This 
shows that taking root in local culture, telling a good story with 
international narrative techniques, and finding their own positioning in 
the context of globalization is the key for Hong Kong films to go 
global.
	The high-quality films represented by TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: 
WALLED IN have been successful in the international market, and various 
positive signs in the film market also indicate that Hong Kong films are 
gradually recovering. Thanks to the efforts of Hong Kong filmmakers, 
MAD WORLD (YUT LIM MO MING, 2017) in the early years made people see the 
in-depth exploration of realistic themes by the new generation of 
directors, and also achieved good social significance.  Since IP MAN 4: 
THE FINALE (2019), Hong Kong films have bloomed with new vitality 
through innovation in the action scenes and plots that they are good at. 
RAGING FIRE (2021) also brings a new perspective and narrative to the 
audience.  The Hong Kong film market is gradually diversifying and is no 
longer limited to traditional police and action films. The excellent 
works have expanded the influence of Hong Kong films through overseas 
dissemination, and also brought more resources and opportunities.
	The success of TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN has injected 
a shot in the arm for Hong Kong films, but there is still a long way to 
go for the revival of Hong Kong films. The policies and financial 
support measures of the HKSAR Government and the Film Development 
Council will help and encourage more Hong Kong films to be produced and 
distributed, and promote the development of the film industry. While 
adhering to local characteristics and embracing globalization, Hong Kong 
filmmakers continue to explore and innovate, win the recognition of the 
audience with excellent works, and reproduce the glory of Hong Kong

HONG KONG AND JAPAN'S FILM CULTURE INFLUENCE EACH OTHER
TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN COMBINES GANG AND ACTION ELEMENTS

	The movie TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI 
JI WAI SING) became a hit in the Japanese market, from the first few 
small theaters to the current full house and continuous praise.  Many 
publicity campaigns and audience reviews spread on the Internet.   Many 
restaurants have launched barbecued pork rice set menus, which are 
crowded with Japanese people.  They show the profound influence of Hong 
Kong films on Japanese culture, and also reflecting the strong cultural 
influence of each other.
	"This is the real action movie!" "Every fight is super hot, and 
there is no lull!" These comments are surprising, and the strong 
reaction of foreign audiences to this Hong Kong film shows that Japanese 
audiences have a good understanding and appreciation of Hong Kong's 
local culture. The market's response shows the diversity of cultural 
exchange.
	Looking back at the 80s of the last century, Hong Kong movies 
were all the rage.  Japanese and Korean audiences flocked to Hong Kong 
action movies, especially Jackie Chan's POLICE STORY and the Chow Yun 
Fat and Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing starred police and gangster movies such 
as A BETTER TOMORROW (YING HUNG BOON SIK) and ONCE A THIEF (JUNG WAN SEI 
HOI).  Not only did these films have unique action designs, but they had 
also profoundly influenced Japanese pop culture and cinema, such as the 
LIKE A DRAGON series of games and Takeshi Kitano's VIOLET COP and HANA-
BI.  Today, TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN evokes memories of the 
golden age of Hong Kong films among middle-aged audiences, with many 
viewers saying that "the charm of Hong Kong action movies is back!" It 
shows the love and pursuit of Hong Kong films by the Japanese.
	It is worth mentioning that GHOST IN THE SHELL was first 
serialized manga by Shirow Masamune in 1989, and the scenes in it are 
heavily influenced by oriental aesthetics. As a real "three-dimensional 
slum", the Kowloon Walled City, with its dense buildings and chaotic 
market ecology, has a similar aesthetic influence to the "cyberpunk" 
scene in the game, showing the overlap of Japanese and Hong Kong 
cultures.
	Known as the "Oriental Demon Cave" in Japan, the Kowloon Walled 
City is mysterious and fascinating.  Coupled with the underworld setting 
and plenty of action scenes, these elements are also reflected in many 
Japanese gangster movies such as BATTLES WITHOUT HONOR AND HUMANITY and 
CROWS ZERO.  TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS WALLED IN shows successful 
integrations of these popular elements.  The fist-to-flesh movements and 
exaggerated physical performance in TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS complement 
the violent aesthetics of Japanese gangster films, which is in line with 
the Japanese audience's preference for hardcore entertainment.
	Character development and actor charisma are also one of the 
factors in the success of the film. Many Japanese viewers shared the 
manga and dolls after watching the movie on social media, especially the 
love for characters such as Chan Lok Kwan, Shun Yat, and Sei Jai.  These 
anti-hero characters display righteous and tough-guy traits, similar to 
CITY HUTER or LUPIN III that Japanese audiences are familiar with. The 
most interesting thing is that the "barbecued pork rice" in the film 
unexpectedly becomes a hot topic, and even rushes to the hot search on 
Japanese social platforms.  Many Japanese people want to eat barbecued 
pork rice after watching the movie, which has become a complete movie-
watching experience.  This is reminiscent of the profound influence of 
Chinese cuisines such as ramen and shu mai in Japan.

  The Butterfly Mansion, notoriously known for its horror hearsay, is

  has consolidated its power over the metropolis. Large-scale protests
  by the populace have been brutally suppressed. This mix of
  documentary, fiction, and visions of the future reveals the current
  state of desolate depression among the people of Hong Kong. "A
  desperate attempt to capture the final moments of a sinking island",

  In four chapters, Chan looks back at previous moments of resistance
  and revolution on the island: in 1967, 1973, and 1989. He shows how
  the activists of then are faring now. Some still burn with

  director Au Cheuk-man followed the non-profit organisation Paws 
  Guardian on their harrowing missions to rescue and rehome stray 
  animals – many of whom were abandoned, abused, or tortured. The result 
  is a heartrending collection of stories on survival and resilience, 
  highlighting the brutal realities faced by stray animals: of the 40 
  stray dogs featured in this documentary, only four ultimately found 
  new homes.
