MISCELLANEOUS * (2024/10/23) Lin Minchen, Ling Man Lung, Coffen Lam Chin Yu and Candice Yu On On attended the charity premiere of the movie WISH COMES TRUE (BA HUNG FOOK LAI GUNG YUT DIM) the night before. The film was based on a true story and told the inspirational story of a Kennedy's disease patient, but the patient passed away last year. Ling Man Lung said on stage that everyone have fulfilled his final wishes to complete the film, and he also wanted to share it with him at the premiere. Ling Man Lung deeply believed that he would also be present to see it. Lin Minchen said that one of the reasons for taking this movie role was because of Ling Man Lung. She pointed out that the film was shot three years ago, when she had not officially come to Hong Kong to develop. The opportunity to work was very rare to her, and when she was doing her homework she saw that the actor was Ling Man Lung. She knew that he was a good actor, because from just seeing the clips of his performance before she already admired him very much. Thus she looked forward to the cooperation setting off spark and felt that it would be very rewarding. After hearing that, Ling Man Lung humbly said that Minchen's words made him feel embarrassed. Minchen again praised his acting left a impression on her. Man Lung had a scene in which he collapsed and cried, the shot was a continuous close up of the reactions of other actors. Even though Man Lung was not in the shot, but he still maintained his emotions so everyone could get into character. Just like that he cried 7 times repeatedly. Man Lung also thanked Minchen for her trust in him, and she was also very committed to performing; only then were they able to "pass the ball" to each other and set off spark. The shoot was very pleasant. Minchen has met a good co-star when she first came to Hong Kong, and she admitted that she also has a good impression of Hong Kong boys. "I like Hong Kong people very much, both boys and girls are so enthusiastic, very similar to Malaysia. In particular Hong Kong people are so direct, they say what they think. I like direct people." MIRROR member Edan Lui Chuek On directly admitted to pursing her, did she also like that? She quickly handed the microphone to Man Lung, who wisely quipped, "Is he directly pursing me? Oh, I like that, I like that!" When Minchen was repeatedly asked about her relationship with Edan, she only said that at the premiere she should talk about this serious film. Would she invite Edan to watch the movie? She said she would invite all her friends to watch it. Earlier Edan responded to questions about Minchen and said that he was under a lot of pressure. He also mentioned that Law Kar Ying was optimistic about their relationship. Minchen handed the microphone to Man Lung again. She said that today's movie was a very serious drama, and she did not want to steal Man Lung's limelight. Since she was trying so hard to avoid gossip, would she refuse to work with Edan on a movie? Minchen replied, "I don't rule out cooperating with anyone." * (2024/10/23) Philip Keung Ho Man and girl group COLLAR member Candy Wong Ka Ching attended the premiere of the movie POSSESSION STREET (CHEH MALL) the night before. Keung Ho Man praised his on screen daughter Candy for her filial piety, as she often checked up on him from time to time. He was also happy to see her assertiveness during the performance. Making her first movie, Candy said that the "father and daughter" were able to get along well completely due to Keung Ho Man's initiative to break the ice. Keung Ho Man said, "When I saw in the script that in the first few scenes we already had to shoot a very intense argument scene, but we haven't even talk to each other yet. I don't even know how to talk with people at all, so I could only buck up and chat with Candy." In movies he often played the role of Papa, with an overabundance of fatherly love. In real life he spoils his nephew, for which his family constantly scolded him for. Candy has loved watching vampire and zombie movies since she was little. When asked if she wore any scary makeup, Candy said, "I didn't need to, but in the movie I don't get to be too pretty anyway. I had to run away, and I had to panic." Keung Ho Man spent three to four hours for make up at work everyday. Shooting on location at a shopping center without air conditioning, he kept sweating and had to frequently have his make up mixed. After work he also spent two hours to remove the make up, but he thought trying something different was worth all the hardship. Later he would go to Malaysia to make a Lunar New Year. He heard that other Hong Kong actors would join the cast. "People there love to watch Lunar New Year movies as much as people in Hong Kong, the whole family would go to the movies to celebrate the New Year." Speaking of Keung Ho Man's earlier trip to Yemen to shoot the TVB program "Dialogue with Heaven and Earth" and face the threat of war, he pointed out that they were under military protection throughout the whole process during the filming. "We shot with a drone, the soldiers anxiously asked if the drone in the air were ours. Otherwise they would shoot it down." Because of the poor network there, he lost contact for a whole day and worried his family. He realized the importance of reporting his safety. Shooting in a canyon, he had to walk a kilometer alone. He was the most concerned about wild animals or poisonous bugs, if he took a wrong step he would have fallen toff the cliff and lose his life. * (2024/10/22) Angus Yeung Tin Yue and Macy Ma Sihui, a member of the girl group VIVA, took the leads in the movie INEXTERNAL (LUI YING OI HUP). Yeung Tin Yue trained his body to its fittest to face the series of action. He even used an ultimate move to spin sideways at high speed twice but almost had an accident. With a Chinese dance background, Macy easily performed kicking high above the head, but when practicing the split she fell to the ground, got injured and had to undergo surgery. In the film Yeung Tin Yue lives an ordinary life and is driven by fate to enter the underground world, where he meets Candice Yu On On, Catherine Chau Ka Yee and Ma Sihui. They lead him to understand himself anew. Chau Ka Yee is engaged in massage and funeral business, and is a capable fighter, but in the film she does not have to fight; she has to work harder and use her subconscious to save Yeung Tin Yue in his sickbed. As for Macy she mainly punches and kicks this time, killers have been in pursuit of her and she has to ally with Yeung Tin Yue. However she hits Yeung Tin Yue the most. For her first time making fight scenes, Macy also for the first time goes to work out and have boxing training at the gym. With her Chinese dance foundation she is limber, so she can do a split or even kicking above her at will. Did the two have any intimate scenes besides fight scenes? The two of them laughed and said that they had a little flirtation, and as for the intimate scene, they asked the audience to go to the theater to watch it. Yeung Tin Yue said with a smile that in the film Ka Yee used massage cream to rub his chest, which was unforgettable. He still remembered at the time Ka Yee asked the director how she should rub, and told him to be careful as it might be cold. Ka Yee responded with a smile: "I don't remember, I look all emotional, but when I get to those spot I am shy, do you sense I am a little shy?" Yeung Tin Yue replied with a smile, "A little!" Ka Yee smiled and said, "I don't remember that because I am serious about acting, his big chest muscles don't distract me, I am very concentrated and very professional!" Yeung Tin Yue also said that he was not embarrassed during filming, because he had to be topless most of the time in the film. However it would be very hard to wear no shirt and no protective pads during the filming. The film was filmed three years ago, so far the callous on his hands remained on his palms. "When I trained, I had to lift iron and do street workouts, and I only had a month to prepare, six days a week, four hours a day I trained until my muscles were dehydrated. In addition I had to learn different martial arts, including Brazil Jiu-Jitsu, Krav Maga, Taekwondo, boxing and Muay Thai, which were really physically exhausting and I often got injured. However at that time I was at the fittest in my life." He also pointed out that he had to follow the diet, quitting carbohydrates to slim down and only having vegetables and chicken. The production used up a lot of energy, which made his muscles shrink. When Louis Cheung Kai Chung saw that he has lost a lot of weight, "He gave a chocolate energy bar to me. After eating it I really got big again and the feeling was so sweet." Yeung Tin Yue recalled that he almost had an accident when filming an ultimate move on wires. The ultimate move was that he first straightened his arms and feet, rolled him up in a wire then pulled away. He spun twice in mid air at high speed horizontally like a pen; that day he only had a little vegetable and a small piece of meat. He saw a can of energy drink on the makeup table, so he drank it. He was originally very tired, and his heart beat so fast. As soon as he took his mark he shot this ultimate move. "After about 10 takes, the director asked the staff to let me down because he saw that my face and lips have gone pale. When I got down, I was so dizzy. Only I didn't know while on the wires. Luckily the director finally accepted the take and I didn't have to shoot again." He often got hurt while making this film. He smiled bitterly that the acupuncturist also became his friend. He tried to shake off the callous in the palm of his hand, but the most injured were his ribs, his waist, his calves and so many positions that he has forgotten, he only knew that he had to apply medicine wine everyday during that time, and he still have old wounds. Macy also laughed and pointed out that everyone went to acupuncture together, and she accidentally fell to the ground and tore the cartilage tissue of the hip joint when she was practicing a split, and she had to undergo a minor surgery to recover. Yeung Tin Yue and Macy are both in lead roles for the first time, and they are full of expectations for the film. Yeung Tin Yue said, "There are expectations, there is a lot of pressure, and I would worry about the box office!" Macy joked, "I use my subconscious: 'Box office hit'!" The two said that they wanted to do their best to promote, and Ka Yee proposed: "Yeung Tin Yue should not wear a shirt to promote, or add a shirt outside, then I will say the shirt needs to be fixed as an excuse and pull the shirt open. Macy would perform a kick to the head." The two of them agreed and laughed, "We can consider that!" * (2024/10/21) Dayo Wong Tze Wah has been promoting his new film THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI YUK) non-stop for days. He recently accepted an interview with the online program "The Do Show" with Carl Cheng Yui Ling (Sister Do), which was broadcast in two episodes. Tze Wah started from when he was a child, and said with a smile that if anyone wants to find out about his life in the future, they can watch this Sister Do's interview. Tze Wah talked about his rough childhood, describing himself as a "human ball" when he lived with his maternal grandmother, paternal grandmother and mother successively, "The worst part is not knowing whether it was due to my face or my attitude, when I went to live in my maternal grandmother or paternal grandmother's house, first I was almost the youngest, and secondly I was the most unpopular one." Studied at prestigious kindergartens and primary schools, Tze Wah had to change schools because the tuition fees were too expensive. When he was in secondary school, he went swimming in Acacia Bay with 3 classmates. They saw a boat by the sea, so they rowed out to sea with just a paddle. They did not expect the Marine Police would stop them and in the end brought them with the boat back to the police station. He was still frightened when he recalled, "I was very scared, come on, we were just playing; were they going to shoot us?" He said that they were very pathetic at the time, "We were just several teenagers. We were only in our swimming trunks, trembling at the police station the whole time." Later, they were sentenced to two years on probation. Tze Wah said that they were considered lucky. Sister Do said that she worked with Tze Wah on the TVB series WAR OF THE GENDERS (NAM CHUN NUI OI) for 5 months, and only witnessed him losing his temper once. "People online said that you rarely lose your temper, and there are 3 times in the record. Once was during rehearsal with Siu Leung, I was on the set that time. Once when you were filming, one of the staff members seemed to be so angry because he didn't get what he wanted, and you lost your temper; and once while filming the ending of THE GRAND GRANDMASTER (MUK DOI JUNG SI), people said that you threw a tantrum." Wong generously admitted, "Yes." Tze Wah felt that he did not lose his temper when he played opposite Siu Leung, he asked Sister Do, "You were there, what did you see?" Sister Do said that what Tze Wah threw was not considered a tantrum, "We have seen and understood that Siu Leung has quite a character, and he will advise you on what to do during the shoot. You are already very professional in this area, you don't need him to remind you; the so-called Tze Wah lost his temper was only him holding a stack of documents at the time, then throwing away the stack of documents. He wasn't very forceful either. Then he said, 'I know what I am doing!' That's it." As for the other two times, Tze Wah said that he was filming in the mainland once. when he saw the food of other actors, he knew that someone had embezzled the food money and made a fortune so he got mad; another time was when he directed and acted in the ending of THE GRAND GRANDMASTER (MUK DOI JUNG SI), he injured his arm and fractured it. At the end of the show, Tze Wah admitted that he really wanted to film TABLE FOR SIX 2 (FAN HEI GUNG SUM 2), but he could not due to some things and it became the hardest thing for him to accept in the entertainment industry. * (2024/10/21) The Hong Kong film market has been weak in recent years, and the industry is constantly looking for a way out. The owner of a film and management company, Louis Koo Tin Lok has already established four "house rules" to help his artists explore new directions, to never just "sit around: and wait for opportunities. Among them, Ken Law Ho Ming, who has performed in WARRIORS OF FUTURE (MING YUT JIN GEI), met the standard and became the first artist to receive the company's support to film his own story! Koo Tin Lok has been committed to promoting the film industry for many years and helping the industry find more solutions. He held a conference with his artists as early as 2018 to encourage everyone to actively develop their own stories. Ken Law Ho Ming had earlier completed an original story that he single-handedly produced. The planner, action director and actor's movie GOOD GAME (JOOK DIN) honestly was all because of Koo Tin Lok's encouragement. "It was probably around the time of the Lunar New Year in 2018, the boss (Koo Tin Lok) told us that as actors we should not so passive and wait for luck and the script to arrive -- be proactive; he ask us to try to write the story ourselves. The company will have a screenwriter team review it. If it is OK, he will support the production start, but there are 4 conditions that must be met. First: the script cannot be too expensive, the budget would be small and medium-sized; second: it must have action scenes to facilitate oversea sales; third: it must have positive energy, not too extreme and crazy; the fourth point is also the key point: how you can convince him, for an equal price movie ticket, to not watch a billion-dollar Hollywood production, but to watch your movie." Precisely because of Koo Tin Lok's foresight, many of his artists have actively tried. Ken bluntly said that he submitted nearly 10 stories, and in the end only GOOD GAME successfully passed the test. However, getting the admission ticket did not mean the project was invincible. The subsequent script creation took a long time, but fortunately filming was successfully launched in 2023. He is still grateful to Koo Tin Lok for giving him the opportunity to become the first artist in the company to finish creating his own story. It is not easy to make a good movie. The filming of the audience favorite TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JI JI WAI SING) had difficulties galore. Ken also has some connection with this film. He said, "I didn't know that the company was making this movie at the time. However, when I was working for the company on the movie INEXTERNAL (LUI YING OI HUP) as the action director, there was a shortage of Hong Kong stunt people. Because a foreign film starring Oscar winner Forest Whitaker and Tom Hardy invited a group of Hong Kong stunt people to help in the UK, Hong Kong had few stunt people left. By the time we started production, we found out that some on the team were helping train the actors for TWILIGHT, so the two films shared the same group of stunt people." In addition, Koo Tin Lok's birthday is today. He held a celebration party in advance in Sha Tin with a 60 set banquet. There was a lion dance to add to the fun. A group of elders presented lai see to Goo Jai. Fans took turns to come on stage to take photos with the idol. The atmosphere was lively. * (2024/10/20) Raymond Lam Fung attended the opening ceremony of the fitness center yesterday. Performing concerts at the Hong Kong Coliseum in May next year, he did not shy away from saying that he has been busy with "extra training" recently. "The best part about here is being close to my home, I am here at least 3 or 4 days a week." He admitted that he was currently negotiating work in movies and TV dramas, he might not be able to be as diligent in fitness in the future. Thus he will "build up the foundation" first right now. He revealed that he would enter into an official retreat for rehearsal in March next year, he would know what the rundown would be like by then. He will at most book up to 5 to 6 shows. Speaking of the opportunity for the "Four Sons of the Walled City" to make a Lunar New Year film, Lam Fung said, "I probably have other jobs so I won't be involved, but it's all a good thing." When asked why he did not make time to participate, Lam Fung said that the boss would be in charge of those questions. Actually over the years he rarely participated in Lunar New Year films. He only had opportunities to make movies in the past few years. As for another Lunar New Year film Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum) would direct, MA JEUK NUI WONG JUI NAM JAI (MAHJONG QUEENS CHASE THE GUYS) asked actors to dress up as TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING) characters, like Bob Lam Sing Bun as Terrance Lau Chun Him's character "Shun Yat" and Benz Hui Siu Hung as Louis Koo Tin Lok's "Tornado", Lam Fung said that he had no idea, but immediately burst into laughter when he heard the names. "That's great, I really want to see it just from hearing about it. It's a good thing, usually only the work everyone notices would have a secondary creation (parody). I really want to see what Lam Sing Bun would look like." * (2024/10/20) The movie THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI YUK) charity poster stills exhibition will be held next Friday, and actors Dayo Wong Tze Wah, Michelle Wai Sze Nga, Catherine Chau Ka Yee, Rachel Leung Yung Ting and director Anselm Chan Mou Yin participated in yesterday's press conference. THE LAST DANCE has been scheduled for release on November 9th, and the preview shows were sold out and had good word of mouth. Even if the film subject was not the comedy Tze Wah was used to playing, the audience accepted it just the same. Tze Wah joked, "I represent the audience when I choose some movies, I dare to say that anything I made wouldn't be too hard to watch. I wouldn't trick everyone. Now I have a lot of understanding of the funeral business, anyone in need can ask me." However he admitted that the funeral subject this time was indeed bold, and the audience's reaction was even better than he imagined. After days of advanced screenings, lead actress Wai Sze Nga has also attended the audience appreciation shows and could not help but succumb to tears from interacting with the audience. She said, "I went to a few performances to thank the audience, and I had to hold back my tears at all of them. Last night the audience shared that a parting with the family that was similar to the situation in the movie, which touched me. I felt so heartbroken when I shared the experience of my role, with all the emotions inside I couldn't help but cry again. I even had convulsions from crying, and I had to think of other songs to distract myself in my head!" Tze Wah has been to audience appreciation shows. He said that he was worried about the heavy subject matter of the film before, but everyone gave rare praises of the touching parts. Did he get teary eyed from watching the movie? Tze Wah joked, "I am saving myself for watching the premiere, but I watched the earlier cuts at home; without soun effect and not the full version, I was already teary eyed. The movie would make everyone cry. In addition to being sad, it also left everyone with something afterwards." Did Tze Wah think it was more difficult to make people laugh or cry? He felt they were both just as difficult. Tze Wah and Sze Nga will go to Japan to participate in the Tokyo International Film Festival. Since they would not be in competition, Tze Wah said that they would be going to walk the red carpet, discuss the film and interact with the audience. Tze Wah has been practicing Japanese hard to introduce his character. "In order to introduce the master of ceremony role I play in Japanese, I have already practiced a dozen times." He then recited it in Japanese but it was still not fluent enough. Fortunately he still had time to practice. He even asked Wai Sze Nga to also practice introducing her role in Japanese. Speaking of many industry insiders attending the Tokyo International Film Festival this year like Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Johnnie To Kei Fung, would they meet with them? He joked, "Their position are high and mighty, so I probably won't be able to see them." In addition Sze Nga was photographed buying grapes and going home to feed her cohabiting fiancé? Sze Nga laughed and said that the report was wrong. Her fiancé was sick and coughing, so he did not have grapes at all. The photograph was also the unit she rented, she said, "We are all about to get married, sometimes he comes to my place and I sometimes go to his. As for the love nest we are still looking, even if we wouldn't find one it wouldn't matter. We would probably rent a place. For now we haven't considered buying a place, We have to work harder to make more money first!" Chau Ka Yee was already playing Wong Tze Wah's girlfriend for the second time; last time THE GRAND GRANDMASTER (MUK DOI JUNG SI) was a comedy, and this time she did not have many scenes. Ka Yee joked that she really minded how few scenes she had, if she was able to make more it would be better. However after reading the script, she thought they were appropriate, and the director did not cut her away from what was shot. She thought that the script was properly arranged and the topic of life and death was the focus. This time Tze Wah was very serious and she learned a lot from Tze Wah. Everyone this time would see a different Tze Wah. Leung Yung Ting said this was the second time she worked with director Chan Mou Yin and played a lesbian both time. However this time would be very different from the one in READY O/R ROT (BUT YUT SING FUN 2) earlier. She smiled and pointed out that the director was very ambitious, even similar roles could have different interpretations. Last time she was more butch and this time she would be feminine. Speaking of working with Wong Tze Wah, they both said that they were not nervous and praised how nice Tze Wah was. Ka Yee said, "He wouldn't make you feel like he is a god, he is human, very familiar, very comfortable, without any distance at all." Leung Yung Ting said that Tze Wah cared for every co-star very much. Wong Tze Wah and Wai Sze Nga both said that they could not help but cry from watching the movie. Ka Yee said that she would save her official viewing for the premiere, while Leung Yung Ting has already watched the completed version. She revealed that when she watched the scene with Tze Wah and Ka Yee she cried. She said that at the time she truly felt Ka Yee's pain. * (2024/10/19) The Hong Kong film market has been in a downturn, as Hong Kong film production rate has been drastically reduced. Earlier some worried that the Year of the Snake Lunar New Year film quantity would be less than ample, but recently several Lunar New Year films have been rumored to be in production and turned the atmosphere more cheerful. The most recent Lunar New Year film MA JEUK NUI WONG JUI NAM JAI (MAHJONG QUEENS CHASE THE GUYS) held its production start ceremony yesterday, joint producers and directors Wong Jing and Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum), actors Samantha Ko Hoi Ning (Go Ling), Kenneth Ma Kwok Ming (Ma Ming), Carlos Chan Ka Lok, DaDa Chan Jing, Sabrina Qiu Yinong, Benz Hui Siu Hung (Benz Hung), Sean Man Jor Hong, Juliana Kwok Pui Man, Mak Ling Ling, Bob Lam Sing Bun, Ching Ho Wai and other were present. Both Ma Ming and Ko Ling were playing leading roles in a film for the first time. They considered themselves newcomers to the film industry. They had relationship subplot and intimate scenes in the film, but Ko Ling had to chase after Ma Ming this time. Wong Jing revealed that he has shot 6 Lunar New Year films in the past. Seeing that Hong Kong movies have lacked happy and funny comedies in recent years, he and Yip Lim Sum after coming up with a good subject worked together to produce and direct this Lunar New Year film. They paid homage to "mahjong" and "chasing girls" movies, but this time reversed the direction to chase boys. Wong Jing also pointed out that in addition to the veteran Go Ling, other characters such as Kwok Pui Man and Man Jor Hong were new young pairings. A goddess-level mysterious weapon with more than 1.5 million Ig fans would also join the film. Yesterday, Hui Siu Hung and Lam Sing Bun both appeared in funny wigs. Benz Hung joked that he was dressed up as "Tornado", while Bob was playing "Shun Yat". Go Ling has made Lunar New Year films in the past, but this is her first lead role in a movie. She felt that it was a dream come true. As for Ma Ming becoming the lead actor in a movie for the first time, he felt even more flattered. "I have only done a few movies before, but all as a guest star. This would be considered my first official Hong Kong film production, which is really rare. However I don't have any pressure from the box office because the film has many experienced actors; I am still a newcomer in the film industry." Go Ling immediately said, "I myself have a little box office pressure; but after what Ma Ming said, I too feel like I am just a newcomer." In the movie, Go Ling had to film a lot of mahjong scenes, which turned her poor tile skills into mahjong mastery. When asked if she had any sex performance, she laughed and said that the film was filled with so many beauties that it already had many beautiful scenes; so it was enough for her to be responsible for mahjong playing. As for their relationship subplot in the film, Ma Ming pointed out that the movie had both funny and touching spots, and would not be absurd. This time he did not have to play an old role, but a "bad luck" scientist. "It's all easy to handle because in reality I am a little unlucky. Instead I m afraid of playing a rich man because this world is beyond my grasp." As for Go Ling, she played an insurance industry queen who chased after Ma Ming. Would they have any intimate scene? Ma Ming joked, "According to my standards it's very intimate, on the sofa our hair was messed up and sweaty. You will know it when you go and see the movie." Has Go Ling ever tried to take the initiative to pursue someone in real life? She said no, she has only tried to give the other person some hints appropriately to let him know that she was fond of him and let him pursue her. As for becoming the lead actress in a Wong Jing movie, has she become the latest "Jing Girl"? Go Ling sid that she was unsure if Brother Jing named her to be the lead actress. Would she like to be "Jing Girl"? She joked, "How do you know I am not? Actually I have participated in several of Brother Jing's movies, only this would be the first time as the lead actress!" Chan Ka Lok wore a big coat and slicked back hair. Many people guessed that he played Chow Yun Fat's "God of Gamblers", but he joked that it was another actor's classic role and he had to keep it secret for now. In the film he, DaDa and a goddess from overseas would have the most scenes together, but they would only have emotional scenes and no passion scenes. DaDa bluntly said that she would not need to be sexy this time. She would play an intimacy coach who would teach Chan Ka Lok and the mysterious goddess how to shoot intimate scenes, so there was no need to be sexy. She would even perform most of the scenes without makeup. Did she feel since she would not need to show off her figure, her beautiful figure would go to waste? DaDa laughed and said, "No, I can try more different variations in the performance. Because there is no script yet, everyone can improvise on the spot." When it comes to filming intimate scenes with actresses, Ka Lok said that he has informed his wife Shiga Lin advance and who the co-stars would be, but she did not ask about the intimacy level of the shoot. When asked if after his daughter was born, he needed to make milk money and frequently took on roles? Ka Lok said, "I just happened to have one job after another. Being an actor is really passive. When I was filming in Malaysia, the director called me and asked me to save the date for a New Year film. I was just lucky." After that, Ka Lok would collaborate with Eliza Sam Lai Heung in a short drama, details of which would be announced later. Kwok Pui Man and "Jing Girl" Sabrina Qiu Yinong both showed off their sexy "career lines" (cleavage) at the production start ceremony yesterday. Making a movie for the first time, Kwok Pui Man felt very happy. After all, she was able to be on the big screen after only one year in the industry and really felt grateful. She knew that she would have many different looks in the movie, but she did not know if she needed to be even sexier. "To have a 'career' like today is OK, but I wouldn't be any sexier." As far as she knew she would not need to wear a swimsuit. She joked that even if she did no one would want to it, because she has gained weight recently due to eating too much and had a little belly. She was still able to maintain her waistline at 22 and a half inches. In addition, she was notified of the performance at short notice, so she did not have time to get into shape. When asked whether she was invited to perform because of her acting skills or her figure, Kwok Pui Man said bluntly, "It's probably not the acting! However all of them are beautiful girls. I haven't received the script yet, I only know that I would play a pretty girl role!" Currently in preparation and already in production Year of the Snake Lunar New Year films aside from MA JEUK NUI WONG JUI NAM JAI would also include the Ng Kin Hung produced, Andy Lo (Law Yiu Fai) directed, Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin and Louis Cheung Kai Chung starred DOH WOK GUM (WAGER A WOK OF GOLD, tentative title) and the ROB N' ROLL (LUM SI GIP ONG) director Albert Mak Kai Kwong directed, the TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (GAU LUNG SING JAI JI WAI SING) team of Louis Koo Tin Lok, Raymond Lam Fung, Tony Wu Tsz Tung, German Cheung Man Kit and Philip Ng Won Lung along with Gigi Leung Wing Kei and Chrissie Chau Sau Na starred movie about middle aged female boxing. * (2024/10/19) The Nick Cheung Ka Fai directed and starred new film PEG O' MY HEART (SHOOK MUNG) recently (17th) won the "Best Director Award" at the Grimmfest Film Festival in Manchester, England. This year's film festival has more than 20 fantasy horror films from around the world, including creative works from the United States, Italy, the United Kingdom and other places. PEG successfully won the favor of the jury, and Ka Fai was unanimously awarded the best director. The jury said that this year, among many works and directors full of imagination and creativity, Ka Fai finally stood out and won the award. They described PEG as a hallucinogenic psychological movie, praising Ka Fai for not only being the screenwriter and the director but also playing the leading role in the film. PEG attracted much attention at the film festival, not only winning the "Best Director Award", but also received special mention from the jury in both the "Best SCARE" and "BEST VFX/SFX" categories. The Dennis Yeung Man Kit led outstanding special effects team fully brought out the horror atmosphere in the film, making PEG a highlight of this year's film festival. This year's Grimmfest Film Festival also showcased masterpieces from all over the world. PEG as the only Chinese-language film participating in the festival was able to stand out among all the masterpieces, which was indeed an honor. PEG has already attracted widespread attention from overseas movie fans before its release. This year, it has been selected for 7 film festivals, including the Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy, the Bucheon International Fantasy Film Festival in South Korea, the Panorama Section of the Sitges International Fantasy Film Festival in Spain, the Malaysia International Film Festival, the Fantastic Filmfest in Germany, Grimmfest Film Festival in Manchester, UK, and L'Etrange Festival in Paris, France. * (2024/10/19) Gardner Tse Kwan Ho, Jeffrey Ngai Chun Sun, Dee Ho Kai Wa, Locker Lam Ka Hei, Leung Chung Hang and Wesley Wong Hoi Kit went to the fire station yesterday to shoot the music video for their movie CESIUM FLLOUT (FUN SING)'s film song "LIFETIME TEAMMATES. They put on white tank tops together with overalls, showing off their arm and chest muscles. A school happened to be next to the fire station, and the handsome men attracted a large number of students to watch and scream. Ngai Chun Sun said that he would not rule out wearing the same costume to the theater for audience appreciation shows. He would also consider shooting a firefighter photo album with other actors for charity. The song LIFETIME TEAMMATES was adapted from the song BEST FRIENDS. Tse Kwan Ho and Jeffrey revealed that they had free reins on the content of the music video, and they would also use fire hoses to get wet provocatively. When asked if he had exercised his muscles harder before filming the music video, Tse Kwan Ho laughed and said that he did not know that he had to show off his muscles until he arrived at the scene. Fortunately he and Jeffrey usually exercised and did not have to deliberately train. When asked about the joyful and funny atmosphere in the music video, would they be afraid that the audience would mistake CESIUM FALLOUT as a comedy film? Tse Kwan Ho said, "We all want to bring joy to everyone, prove that the relationship between firefighters is very good." As for whether he would follow the example of foreign firefighters and shoot a photo book, Jeffrey said he would not mind if it was for charity. Because he recently bought a new camera, he could take beautiful photos for everyone. When asked whether he would dress up as a firefighter and go to the theater to thank the audience after the movie release, Jeffrey said that he has not yet thought of how to thank the audience, but he hoped that the movie would do well at the box office. It was suggested that they could dress up as "Yam Ho Yan" (anyone) and let the audience guess, Jeffrey laughed and said it was a good suggestion, but he would definitely reveal Tse's true identity so that the audience could see him. * (2024/10/18) Jeffrey Ngai Chun Sun and Amber Tang attended an event yesterday. Speaking of the hunk Eddie Peng Yu-Yan also being the spokesperson of the watch brand, Jeffrey joked that he has also been training his chest muscles diligently, hoping that he will not lower the standards. Appearing in a suit, Jeffrey smiled and pointed out that it hid his 42-inch chest muscles. He revealed that he has been working hard on muscle building recently and taking film action classes to prepare for the new film at the end of the year. "It is the first time I would make an official action movie. There will be a lot of fight scenes, so I have already started taking action classes." He said with a smile that the hardest part was stretching, "Now I am able to perform half a split and the kip up. What I remember the most is the time when the master helped me stretch my muscles earlier. The experience truly was much tougher than all of the training. Wow! It was wonderful. At the time the master asked me if I was OK, but all I heard was a pop. Now I have to stretch everyday." He also said that the film will be shot in other parts of Asia, but it will not be the TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS (GAU LUNG SING JI) film series. When asked about co-stars in the new film, Jeffrey revealed that he would fight with foreign actors. Since he was not at liberty to reveal the co-stars or the locations, he could only say Asian. The film would be expected to start in Hong Kong by the end of the year, and then go abroad for filming at locations everyone would be familiar with after the Lunar New Year. * (2024/10/18) The "21st Hong Kong Asian Film Festival" held its opening ceremony last night. Guests included Film Festival Ambassador Rachel Leung Yung Ting, the team of the opening film THE LAST DANCE (POR. DEI YUK)'s Dayo Wong Tze Wah, Michelle Wai Sze Nga, Tommy Chu Pak Hong, director Anselm Chan Mou Yin and producer Siu Kim Chau, as well as the team of another opening film BLOSSOMS UNDER SOMEWHERE (GEI LIU YUT JING GOR CHUN TIN) Marf Yau Yin Tung, Sheena Chan Shu Yan, Shin Cheung Yuk Hin, Adam Pak Tin Nam, Paisley Hu (Wu Pui Wi), director Riley Yip Yuk Yang and producer Fruit Chan Gor. Wong Tze Wah would be in retreat for the rehearsal of the play THE TRUTH ABOUT LYING, so he had to complete the promotion of the movie THE LAST DANCE in the next few days. Earlier Wai Sze Nga attended the Hawaii International Film Festival on behalf of the film. She said that she was initially worried that foreigners would not be able to understand the funeral ceremony of "hell-breaking". The result may also be cultural differences, when watching the movie the audience let out lamenting laughter. "Actually, the subject of the movie is touching. During the Q&A session, the audience said they liked the movie very much; but I didn't dare to ask why they laughed." Sze Nga also said that there was a Hong Kong viewer who watched the film at the event. The film was very touching for him because he was unable to return to Hong Kong to attend the funeral of his relative during the pandemic. After watching the film, he felt like he attended the funeral of his relative and provided relief for him. Tze Wah was curious about what made the foreign audiences laugh, and believed that he should adjust his sense of humor from it. He pointed out that he has not seen the finished product in its entirety, and was looking forward to the reaction of Hong Kong audiences. He joked that he has never done anything as unsightly as treating friends to watch the movie, usually they were all about "food and wine". His friends like Sean Lau Ching Wan and Francis Ng Chun Yu have been very busy so they have not met up in a very long time. Tze Wah said that he would like to know what Chun Yu would think about THE LAST DANCE and joked that because Chun Yu was actually well versed in poetry and literature and read no less books than him. Making a movie for the first time, COLLAR member Marf said that comparing to filming dramas and music videos, the film was more delicate. She even said that she was addicted to acting and hoped to make another film. Playing the role of a stutterer who was in the second hand underwear business with her classmate, she was worried that her poor performance would affect the production progress. Fortunately the crew arranged for stutterers and speech therapists to provide guidance, but sometimes she still spoke too fast and forgot about having a stutter. She looked forward to watching the film on the big screen and has invited her mother and boyfriend Locker Lam Ka Hei to the premiere. Co-star Chan Shu Yan pointed out that her character would make a strong contrast with Marf's. She thought that the song and dance scene in school uniform at the auditorium was the most special. Because she did not rehearse before hand, the dance felt improvised. Marf said that the role ws suitable for Chan Shu Yan since she was a modern dance performer, and praised her dance as very elegant. Shi's legend was forged through acts of brazen daring, like his infiltration of an enemy stronghold to rescue the wrongly imprisoned Lu Jun-yi from certain execution. Patrick Tam, in a performance of searing intensity, breathes life into a character confronted with the ghosts of his outlaw past, and clinging to hope for rebuilding his fractured life and finding new purpose. Chan, the acclaimed writer of the "Ip Man" franchise, infuses the film with a sense of hard-bitten optimism, suggesting that even in the darkest of times, an indomitable spirit can light the path to a better tomorrow. Unfolding in the faded opulence of Tsim Sha Tsui's Mirador Mansion, it charts an unlikely bond between grizzled veteran Tai Bo and rising star Kuku So—he a mysterious rescuer, she a teenager running away from her mother's abusive partner. At first Alice (the Wonderland echoes ring deliberately) rebuffs her grizzled savior's gallantry. But their shared loneliness catalyzes a fraught rapprochement amid the mansion's crimson-lit maze. Chow wields colorful yet noirish atmospherics with a maestro's command, the dank stairwells and flickering fluorescents conjuring palpable peril. As this intricate two-hander hurtles toward its cathartic climax, you'll be gasping—not just from the suspense, but from sensing the new lifeblood pulsing through the story. Injustice has reigned over the quiet town of Shek O in Hong Kong. Chu Po is a young masked vigilante out to help those in need and kick a baddie’s ass. Just as her social-media popularity increases, so do her frequent injuries, as she learns that her beginner's skills may be no match for those of more experienced fighters. Fate draws her to a local church infested with illicit drug-dealing activities. She soon realizes her connection to that church is more personal than expected as there's a link to her family's past. Should she simply stay in the shadows and pray for a miracle, or put her karate chops to good use? An rejuvenated ode to both THE KARATE KID and the action heroines of Hong Kong's Golden Age, the latest from director Ricky Ko after his award-winning TIME (Fantasia 2021) once again nicely combines nostalgia and modernity with a potent mix of martial arts, humour, sweetness, and compelling characters, OUT OF THE SHADOW offers a guaranteed good time, a reminder of why we love HK movies so much in the first place. Starring several rising stars from Hong Kong, including two actors reunited after Fantasia favourite PORT OF CALL (2015), OUT OF THE SHADOW is fresh off several Asian festivals, and makes its first stopover in the West at Fantasia before it hits its home territory this fall. – King-Wei Chu [ OASKA ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL 2024 ] Chu Po is a sprightly teenage girl with a strong sense of justice but her mother, Tao Kuen Ying, would rather they keep a low profile in the fishing town of Tai O. Mired in debt, wedding planner Dominic gets a miraculous chance to turn things around when a funeral planner retires and passes the baton to him. Planning weddings and funerals are polar opposites, but Dominic puts his all into his new job, from opening graves, digging coffins, to handling the deceased. No matter how unpleasant it gets, he takes on everything with gusto. However, the biggest obstacle is getting the approval of respected Taoist priest, Master Man. In his 70s, Master Man is a traditional man who has devoted his life to his Taoist faith. He wants to pass the mantle to his son, Ben, but Ben is more devoted to his wife and kids than to Taoism. Master Man's daughter, Yuet, respects her father greatly. However, since her ancestors dictated that women are filthy by nature, Yuet doesn't take romantic relationships seriously. [ 2024 HONG KONG ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL ] When our lives are essentially counting down to death, why do we make an effort to love? Writer-director Anselm Chan asks serious existential questions about mortality in this somber but surprising life-affirming drama, which marks the first on-screen collaboration between comedy icons Dayo Wong and Michael Hui since 1992. Wong stars as an out-of-work wedding planner who becomes a funeral agent to make ends meet. Not only does he have to navigate the superstitions and complexities of the business of death, he must also earn the approval of his sternly traditional business partner, Taoist priest Master Man. After a devastating stunt accident, Sam steps away from the industry for 30 years. However, his old friend, a veteran director, has now persuaded Sam to work as the stunt choreographer on what will be the director's last film. The only catch is that his film stars Wai - Sam's former stunt crew member who has since become a famous action star in his own right. Sam and Wai have a contentious history, with Sam's infamously overbearing and demanding personality clashing with Wai's own ego and ambition. By chance, Sam crosses paths with a young, ambitious stuntman named LEE Sai Long, who sees this as an opportunity to advance his career. Long is caught between Sam and his former protégé turned rival. At the same time, Long helps Sam to reconcile with his estranged daughter, Cherry. As Sam returns to the world he once dominated, he must confront his past, mend fences with Wai, and overcome their personal conflicts in order to deliver an epic final action spectacle for the director's swan song. However, in the midst of shooting a robbery heist, Sam's shortsightedness endangers the public, and members of his crew are arrested, causing him to be fired. As the pressure mounts and the stakes rise, Sam must decide what he's truly fighting for—reclaiming his former glory or reconnecting with the daughter he's taken for granted. Nevertheless, she insists it is true love despite being swindled out of a large sum of money. [ 2024 NEW YORK ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL ] Are online "romance scams" always destructive? In this moving, absorbing feature debut from Ho Miu-ki, Sandra Ng plays Veronica, a wealthy, widowed doctor who falls for a middle-aged French engineer on a dating app. Soon, "Alain" has convinced her to provide large infusions of funds and Veronica’s friends urge her to report him to the police. But even as she assures them it's true love, Alain must steel his heart of gold and quell his second thoughts to continue bringing in cash or risk painful consequences. With a hilarious Stephy Tang as the young scammer's coach, this captivating film probes the unlikely emotional connection that forms between a lonely young man and a vibrant older woman—and sets crucial scenes in the pretty-as-a-postcard Sapporo. [ M PLUS ] A successful obstetrician-gynecologist whose love life has stagnated, Veronica casually downloads a dating app for some harmless fun. Little does she know that the dashing French engineer on the other end of the line is actually a local con artist named Joe. The young man inadvertently joined a group of online scammers led by the oddball veteran Mr. White and the maudlin temptress Joan. As their fake relationship grows, so have Joe's guilty conscience and Veronica's hopes. First-time director Ho Miu-ki takes on the romantic comedy formula from a refreshing and topical angle, inquiring the essence of romantic love through the prism of deceit. ------------ For the week starting October 19 2024 (Week 42) VIUTV CHILL CLUB CHART (Week 43) 5 RIDE IT OUT Vincy Chan (Wing Yi) https://youtu.be/AW-UkDc0b6g 4 I DON'T LOVE YOU Can : Ngor Hung Bak Oi Nei On Chan Kin On https://youtu.be/YPLsNVVCgEc 3 ME-TIME Can : Yut Gor Yun Hung Gai ME-TIME The Absent Brother (Lui Pung Yi Yau) https://youtu.be/Zl8gWLT3Svk 2 STRAWBERRY LOVE Anson Lo, Edan Lui, Jeremy Lee, Keung To https://youtu.be/xQMvA43QVEY 1 ENCHANTMENT Can : Yut Lim Tin Tong, Yi Yun Git Gai Kelly Chen Wai Lam https://youtu.be/PY4LmoBQr2k TVB JADE SOLID GOLD 5 ADULT NATION Can : Dai Yun Gok Apple Ling Suet Yee https://youtu.be/ipQWbj_RK5w 4 THE RESIDUAL WARMTH OF THE VOICE Can : Sing Yum Dik Yu Wan Albert Chau Kat Pui https://youtu.be/fgLuN-cTLyI 3 BASTARD Can : Lan Ho Yun Fred Cheng Chun Wong https://youtu.be/BUmogArEADU 2 HOW ABOUT WE DANCE Can : Jing Lun Leung Woot Poot Cheng Gor Jeh Phil Lam Yik Hong https://youtu.be/iyXE41wkOEQ 1 CYA Chantel Yiu Cheuk Fei, Yumi Chung Yau Mei, Windy Zhan Tianwen https://youtu.be/bqjYnWCrz9Y METRO RADIO HIT DOMESTIC CHART 5 THE 101ST SEE YOU Can : Dai Yut Ling Yut Ch Joi Gein Natalie Ho Chun Kei https://youtu.be/JDinwABWJdI 4 DON'T MISS IT Can : Bit Chor Gor MIC Chow Cheuk Ying https://youtu.be/QCeAEo64lq8 3 OUT OF THE BOX Can : Kwan Kwan Dark Wong Ming Tak https://youtu.be/zk0toMUc9l8 2 ALIVE Can : Liu Liu Terence Lam Ka Him / Henry Tang Pak Hung https://youtu.be/RlDeBJhfUYs 1 KITE Can : Fong Fei Ji Lui Nowhere Boys https://youtu.be/91xhuOwz7kg COMMERCIAL RADIO 903 TOP 20 5 PAMPER U Can : Ngor Yeung Nei Jace Chan Hoi Wing https://youtu.be/HoXat0lZKxw 4 LOWLY Can : Jin before the night ends https://youtu.be/NOgGyBsTtZA 3 SEE YOU SOON, IT'S NOT A GOODBYE Can : Wui Joi Gein Dik Jay Fung Won Him https://youtu.be/SRG29U7Fw_o 2 THE ART OF LEAVING Can : Lei Hup Dik Ngai Suk Andy Leung Chiu Fung https://youtu.be/luDh_LFw8X0 1 KITE Can : Fong Fei Ji Lui Nowhere Boys https://youtu.be/91xhuOwz7kg RTHK CHINESE POP CHART 5 FLOW Can : Long Manson Cheung Chun Kiu https://youtu.be/Vzawf0mLqEY 4 MONDAY Leah Dou Jing Tong https://youtu.be/vos32LuLjZs 3 DRUNK DIAL AGA Agatha Kong Hoi Ka https://youtu.be/cIU1LL_VmRk 2 FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD Can : Sun Oi Gai Yun Tang Siu Hau https://youtu.be/QIWasCe4IU8 1 MIND YOU EX Can : Siu Sum Pung Tau MC Cheung Tin Fu https://youtu.be/7P76AY8DtqY HUAXIA ORIGINAL GOLD SONG CHART (Week 41) 5 WHILING AWAY THE SUMMER Can : Siu Ha To Charlie Zhou Shen https://youtu.be/4gg70z2Dda0 4 LIKE A CHILD Can : Hai Ji Hei Like A Child Bibi Zhang Bichang https://youtu.be/wOOZS3FKLrI 3 COME TO MY HOME Can : Loi Ngor Ga Jason Zhang Jie https://youtu.be/0WlDe7yPeUk 2 WANDER Can : Jau Jau Li Ronghao https://youtu.be/3NJrHs6jxp0 1 PURE LITTLE SISTER Can : Shun Mui Mui Shan Yi Chun (Sin Yi Shun) https://youtu.be/kY_Or_S_7yk ---------------------- HK Top Ten Central hktopten@hotmail.com http://www.geocities.ws/hktopten | http://hktopten.blogspot.com
