"Best Actor frequent flyer" Tony Leung Chiu Wai with the Emperor Motion Picture THE GOLDFINGER (GUM SAU JI) received a nomination, in a battle against Bowie Lam Bo Yi who declared that he would have to "sacrifice a chicken to thank god". Michelle Wai Sze Nga was nominated for Best Actress for the firs time; Taiwan star Wu Kang-Ren would compete against Gardner Tse Kwan Ho and others for "Best Supporting Actor". This year's Hong Kong Film Awards would take place on April 14th at the Cultural Center. Yesterday at the press conference, the event invited Fish Liew Chi Yu, Terrance Lau Chun Him, Henick Chou Hon Ning and Sabrina Ng Bing to be special guests to announce the nominees in the 19 categories. Among the nominations, IN BROAD DAYLIGHT (BAK YUT JI HA) received 16 nominations including Best Film, Best Director, Actor, Actress and other major categories to become the most nominated film. TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGE (NIN SIU YUT GEI) and THE GOLDFINGER (GUM SAU JI) followed with 12. In addition MAD FATE (MING ONG) and A GUILTY CONSCIENCE (DUK SIT DAI JONG) both received 10 nominations. All 5 of the above were nominated for Best Film. As expected, Leung Chiu Wai with GOLD's wild character would fight for the "Best Actor" award with A GUILTY CONSCIENCE (DUK SIT DAI JONG)'s Dayo Wong Tze Wah, DUST TO DUST (DAI BAK GOR YIM YI YUN)'s Da Peng, TIMES STILL TURNS THE PAGES' Siuyea Lo Chun Yip and others. With 37 years in the business, Lam Bo Yi earlier was nominated for the Golden Horse Awards Best Supporting Actor. This time he was "promoted" to the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actor category. When he got the news he was shopping for the Lunar New Year at the market. "I am currently shopping for grocery and New Year stuff at the shopping center and market. When I got a sudden call from the company to tell me I got nominated, I was very happy and very excited. It's really the first time I got such a performance. Just like last time when I said getting the nomination is like winning an award, no, now I am going to the market to buy a chicken to thank the god!" Leung Chiu Wai replied, "I am very happy to be nominated, thank you to those who voted for me. I also congratulate all the colleagues who are nominated." First time Best Actor nominee Wong Tze Wah was very happy after receiving the news and thanked everyone for their support. Lo Chun Yip said, "Thank you Director and the co-stars for their trust. Being able to experience this creation with the TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES cast and crew is the happiest thing in recent years." Lo Chun Yip's nomination was announced by his girlfriend Fish Liew Chi Yu. When she read her boyfriend Lo Chun Yip's nomination, Liew Chi Yu's hands were shaking. She was so moved that she got a little misty eyed. Liew Chi Yu said that she was very embarrassing, as the guest announcer she should calmly face the matter. Yet during the announcement she discovered that her boyfriend was nominated too, so she was very emotional. "I am happy for my boyfriend being nominated. Earlier I was mentally prepared to be a little more graceful if friends I know or he would be nominated, but in the end real emotions flowed!" would she pick her boyfriend to win? She said, "That's very hard to say, everyone are very strong elders. Leung Chiu Wai is there!" As for both she and Renci Yeung Sze Wing being nominated for Best Supporting Actress with A GUILTY CONSCIENCE, she felt that it would not matter who would win. "Wong Tze Wah with A GUILTY CONSCIENCE has been nominated for Best Actor. I can stand in Tze Wah's glow and walk the red carpet together. Then I could pretend to lose my balance and hold on to him. Because my boyfriend and I are nominated with different movies, we won't be able to walk the red carpet as a couple." Da Peng after learning about his Best Actor nomination for DUST TO DUST said, "I feel very unreal; it doesn't just put a period at the end of a busy year, but a giant exclamation mark. As a Hong Kong film fan, the Hong Kong Film Awards every year is a particularly important visual in my film memory. Today I actually am fortunate enough to enter this visual, I am very emotional. Hong Kong films have deeply influenced me, shaped me, thank you Hong Kong Film Awards for making my dream come true! Thank you director Li Tsz Chun and everyone on the DUST TO DUST team for their trust, and congratulations to director Li Tsz Chun on the Best New Director nomination." As for "Best Actress", Wai Sze Nga with READY O/R ROT (BUT YUT SING FUN 2) broke through zero as she would compete against A GUILTY CONSCIENCE's Louise Wong Dan Nei, THE LYRICIST WANNABE (TIN CHI L)'s Chung Suet Ying, BAND FOUR (SEI PAK SEI GA JOOK)'s Kay Tse On Kay and IN BROAD DAYLIGHT's Jennifer Yu Heung Ying. After 15 years in the business, Wai Sze Nga said, "I really wouldn't have guessed it! I truly am very surprised. Thank you to all the professionals who like READY O/R ROT and voted for me. Thank you to everyone of this film, my co-starring actors, the marketing and distribution teams, and especially to Director (Anselm) Chan Mau Yin! It is because of them, the film was able to successfully come in contact with the audience and for everyone to see my effort. Most importantly I want to thank the company Emperor Entertainment for cultivating me for 15 years, I would definitely keep working hard!" Currently working on a series in the Dominican Republic, Wong Dan Nei said, "I just got the news about the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actress nomination. I never would have guessed, I am very surprised. This year has many very outstanding films and characters, I am very honored to be nominated with so many outstanding people. I am grateful." She said that she definitely had to thank the film company and the director for giving her the opportunity to play such a challenge character, also the production team for working with her and every viewer who supported the film at the movies. She said, "I am in the Dominican Republic. Although it's very far, I can still feel everyone's love and support. A GUILTY CONSCIENCE was my second movie. Everyone has witnessed my growth, so thank you very much, I would keep working hard." Jennifer Yu Heung Ying learned that IN BROAD DAYLIGHT received 16 nominations, including Best Actress for her. "After the production wrapped I was already confident." She also mentioned that her junior colleague in the film Hui Yuet Seung recently also joined her company. "I really like this little sister, I truly am very happy for her getting the New Performer nomination. I don't dare to think about winning. I hope my nominated colleagues would win more awards, recognition, everyone has worked very hard to make this movie with a lot of heart." Yu Heung Ying also thanked "Boss Koo" Louis Koo Tin Lok and other investors for being willing to make IN BROAD DAYLIGHT. Nominated for THE LYRICIST WANNABE (TIN CHI L), Chung Suet Ying said, "I am very happy to be nominate for my first female lead role, entering into this film event. I would keep working hard." Tse On Kay said that she was nominated for the Hong Kong Film Awards for the first time. "My co-worker told me I was nominated for 'Best Actress' and 'Best Original Film Song'. With too many emotions t once, I actually broke down and wailed on the street. This is the first Hong Kong Film Awards nomination of my life, then, slowly, drop by drop I remembered the production and the theme song recording. A lot of experience flooded up. Being nominated with each outstanding actresses and film theme songs is a bonus, a surprise reward and honor that would encourage me to work even harder and harder to play each character well and make even more songs that would touch people's hearts." Good actor Wu Kang-Ren with FLY ME TO THE MOON (DAN YUEN YUN CHEUNG GAU) was nominated for "Best Supporting Actor", with OVER MY DEAD BODY (SEI SI SEI SI SEI SUP SEI)'s Lee Seung Ching, TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES' Sean Wong Tsz Lok, A GUILTY CONSCIENCE's Tse Kwan Ho and John Chiang Dai Wai. Wu Kang-Ren earlier with the film won the Hong Kong Film Critic Society Awards Best Actor, so this time seemed to be "demoted". Wu Kang-Ren was excited. "I really am super happy. To be able to make a Hong Kong film and be nominated is something I would never dare to imagine in this lifetime. Thank you very much to the Hong Kong Film Awards Association. I look forward to be able to properly chat and learn from Hong Kong filmmakers at the ceremony. I cherish this very much." Tse Kwan Ho said, "Very happy! Thank you to filmmakers who voted for 'Kam Yuen Shan' (film character). When A GUILTY CONSCIENCE opened early last year it performed very well. Earlier I just won with this character the New Era International Film Festival Best Supporting Actor, thank you everyone for your support! On the other hand I am very excited, because this year the Best Supporting Actor nominees are full of masters, being nominated is my honor. Thank you Director Ng Wai Lun for writing such a good script, and for giving me such a good opportunity to play this character. This time A GUILTY CONSCIENCE received 10 nominations! I really am very happy! I would keep working hard, thank you!" In "Best Director", Felix Chong Man Keung with THE GOLDFINGER with MAD FATE (MING ONG)'s Soi Cheang Pou Soi as elders would face TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES (NIN SIU YUT GEI)'s Cheuk Yik Him, IN BROAD DAYLIGHT's Lawrence Kan Kwan Chun and A GUILTY CONSCIENCE's Ng Wai Lun. TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES, MAD FATE, THE GOLDFINGER, IN BROAD LIGHT and A GUILTY CONSCIENCE would vie for "Best Film". The film A GUILTY CONSCIENCE (DUK SIT DAI JONG) received 10 Hong Kong Film Awards Nominations, among them Renci Yeung Sze Wing and Fish Liew Chi Yu both were nominated for "Best Supporting Actress". Yeung Sze Wing in her social media story said, "SO HAPPY" then responded, "I am grateful! I hope everyone would be able to go to the stage together. I really love this GUILTY family very, very much." Liew Chi Yu said, "This movie is one the most important milestones in my performing arts career. Aside from its great box office, now at the Hong Kong Film Awards it also received so many nominations. I really am very happy. During the shoot we were very happy too, from the director we got a lot of energy. I have to thank all the co-stars, good sisters (Louise) Wong Dan Nei and Yeung Sze Wing. I very much am looking forward to walking the Hong Kong Film Awards red carpet together." Four time Hong Kong Film Awards Best Supporting Actress, Elaine Jin (Kam Yin Ling) this time again with READY O/R ROT (BUT YUT SING FUN 2) was nominated. Kam Yin Ling said that the experience was different. "The reason that I am very happy this time is, READY O/R ROT's genre and character are very different from every movie I have been nominated with. This is the most special, (the character) doesn't have to be very heavy, all weepy and mopey to be able to get a nomination!" Rachel Leung Yung Ting was nominated for Best Supporting Actress. "Super happy, very happy that IN BROAD DAYLIGHT getting such a good performance and receiving so many nominations." The First Feature Film Initiative winning film FLY ME TO THE MOON (DAN YUEN YUN CHEUNG GAU) received 4 nominations. Director Sasha Chuk Chi Ngan movingly said, "The person I want to thank the most is Director Kwan (Stanley Kwan Kam Peng) and Suk Ping (William Chang). Thank you for being willing to teach me what is the language of film. FLY ME TO THE MOON is a very complex screenplay, involving a wide range of regions and actors, the craftiness of language, low budget but still had period scenes, etc. Today it has been able to be completed and received this much help, honestly if not for Director Kwan as the producer, I believe I would have absolutely have no way to achieve the performance today. Under the spotlight, and behind everyone's praises of the film, the film cannot be without the unconditional contribution of Director Kwan, Suk Ping, Chun Shek, and those who battled shoulder to shoulder with us all along the journey: two cinematographers Hok Lun, Ho Fai and post production director King Lun. The screenplay I wrote alone, but the credit of making the screenplay into reality truly belonged to everyone. We were all for one and one for all, and could not without any single one. We would continue to work hard, may I become an excellent filmmaker like all of you." FLY ME TO THE MOON's Yoyo Tse Wing Yan received a Best New Performer nomination. Wing Yan emotionally said, "I am very grateful for the recognition everyone has given me. I really am very happy. Thank you to everyone on FLY ME TO THE MOON for their contribution that made this movie. I still have a lot to learn, so I definitely would work even harder. Everyone please continue to support FLY ME TO THE MOON!" The Hong Kong Film Awards Association chair Derek Yee Tung Sing at the press conference said, "As the Hong Kong community returned to normal last year, after all Hong Kong cinemas resumed operations fully, even more movies were able to be released. In 2023 50 Hong Kong films qualified for nominations, an increase of 50% from only 33 films in 2022. Among the films in competition were 20 new directors, as well as many new generation actors." He said, "Now the era has to change, when film production situation is even more difficult and the production budget is tight, everyone's attitude has returned to the passion of making Hong Kong films in the past as they would work in many capacities, and be even more sensible than we were before." He also mentioned that the top ten highest grossing Hong Kong films all made over HK$ 10 million, the top film even set the record of the first Hong Kong film to exceed HK$ 100 million. The performance has been encouraging, and he hoped in the future Hong Kong film would be able to return to normal development. Yee Tung Sing also announced that this year's Hong Kong Film Awards first round voting after accountant verification had a 63.23% voting rate, a new post pandemic high. He urged second round voters to continue their strong support. As this year's Hong Kong Film Awards creative director, Lawrence Kan Kwan Chun said that the passing of Eric Cheng Kai Tai was regrettable. Every colleague who helped with the Hong Kong Film Awards missed him, because Cheng Kai Tai has been the Hong Kong Film Awards narrator for ten years already. This year originally he would continue, but the news of his death came suddenly. The event has yet to find a suitable replacement. In addition the film Kan Kwan Chun directed, IN BROAD DAYLIGHT, received 16 nominations and became the most nominated film. Kan Kwan Chun said that he truly was overjoyed beyond expectation, and has never thought about winning any award. The 16 nominations were already a victory! Yesterday they continued with another group mate Edan Lui Cheuk, On, actors Michael Ning (Bak Ji) and Louis Cheung Kai Chung to promote their Emperor Lunar New Year film THE MOON THI3V4S (DOH YUET JEH) by visiting three shows in one day. Yesterday afternoon at the charity couplet autograph session, the event arranged for 5 lion dance team to generate a buzz. Emperor Entertainment Group chair Albert Yeung Sau Sing, vice chair Alex Yeung Ching Lung, led director Steve Yuen Kim Wai and the actors to the stage to dot the lions' eyes. Everyone pat the lions on their heads for good luck. All of the proceeds raised would be donated to charity. Over 1,000 fans showed their support, many were Anson Lo's "Disciples". During the autograph session, Keung To was coughing like he was ill but remained spirited. Then the premiere last night still had over 1,000 people looking on. The "Disciples" remained massive. Aside from the original members from the autograph session, Emperor artists Aiden Hung Jor Sing, Angela Hui Ching Wan, Michelle Wai Sze Nga, Angus Yeung Tin Yue and Elly showed their support. Was Keung To ill? He explained, "It's just allergy, the weather changed. I would see a doctor! Lately I have enough rest, but I am fragile. Sometimes after being busy for awhile I would feel unwell." Anson Lo stated that he had confidence in the new film's box office. He was happy to see that at each event the "Disciples" would line up in support. Edan felt that the box office could not only rely on fans, the film also would have good word of mouth in order to be able to attract viewers. Keung To stated that he went to the cinema in disguise. "Only then I would know what is good about me and what is not, being able to see viewers' real reaction." He discovered that where he thought he performed well he actually did not, and parts he thought were not funny viewers laughed. He learned even more from the audience's real response. At the launch ceremony, the host asked who has watched the film 10 times, Dr. Yeung immediately raised his hand. Anson Lo revealed that the film's struggle scene was the entire film's turning point, and had an emotional explosion. Edan said that in the film he was the mastermind, but said that in real life he was very confused. He asked right away, "Where am I now?" He also said that he hoped to be able to hold a gun in his next movie. Keung To also said that he once fantasized about holding a gun, so he was very happy that this time his dream came true. Cheung Kai Chung also had confidence in the box office and felt that the film's entertainment was what Lunar New Year films required. The audience would be surprised that the film was not just flying the idols' banners, but also had intense excitement, theft and serious gun fight scenes. The film was more manly and praised the MIRROR members for their performance breakthrough. He also said that he has known Bak Ji for several decades but Bak Ji instead taught him to never show his hand. Bak Ji said that after working with the MIRROR members for the first time he understood why everyone really liked them. He too finally had the chance to fulfill his martial art fight dream, joked that once was enough. * (2024/02/06) Nick Cheung Ka Fai two nights ago at the invitation of Louis Cheung Kai Chung appeared at his new film TABLE FOR SIX 2 (FAN HEI GUNG SUM 2)'s star screening; Ah Chung, Jeffrey Ngai Chun Sun, Lin Minchen and other actors from the film also attended. Supporters also included Michelle Yim (Mai Suet), Cheung Tak Lan and her husband Yeung Wai Sing; Owen Cheung Chun Long also supported his girlfriend and one of the stars of the film Renci Yeung Sze Wing. Ka Fai already displayed his humorous nature upon arrival, jokingly saying that the reason he came was to support the lead actor who was leading the Hong Kong film industry, Ah Chun. He also heard that his godfather Bowie Wu Fung and Sister Law Lan would attend. Even more importantly he came to support this Hong Kong Lunar New Year film. Ka Fai showed a lot of respect, instead of going to support his "long lost brother" Messi' match he chose to support the film; he joked that Messi had Messi's own world, earlier when he pretended to be C. Ronaldo he was only performing. Actually normally he would not constantly watch soccer matches, unless they were large scale contests like the World Cup. He preferred to watch movies, and would even ask his wife Esther Kwan Wing Ho to go with him. Would their daughter tag along? He said that would depend on his daughter's wishes, but he joked that his daughter was very fair. She neither watched his films nor Mommy's series. She preferred to listen to music; however her classmates would send his film videos to her, especially the "Fa Gwut Lung" character. She told her not to watch because everyone would laugh. Would he make comedy again? He stated that he really wanted to, but he was also very afraid because he did not want to appear as "Fa Gwut Lung" again. He hoped to be able to play a character that everyone would like and would feel fresh. "Maybe everyone's impression of 'Fa Gwut Lung' is too deep, if I don't play 'Fa Gwut Lung' I don't know if everyone would like it. If they wouldn't then it would be a big deal. So I have to think about that clearly first." He revealed that this New Year his family would go on vacation for a few days. Ah Chung successfully invited Ka Fai to support the film, declaring that he would never forget such a big favor and would thank him by being at his service whenever he would want; he also said that after working together on KEEPER OF DARKNESS (TOR DEI KUI MOR YUN) years ago they have stayed in touch. They would also meet to hike. When he had anything about film production he did not understand he would ask him for advice. In his heart he already saw him as his own teacher. He joked that he would even join his fan club and make support light signs. Stephy Tang Lai Yan said that she has never had the chance to work with Cheung Ka Fai and would look forward to it very much. "As long as I would be able to work with Brother Ka Fai, I would be willing to try any role." Speaking of the benefits for good box office performance, Stephy handed the question to Cheung Kai Chung. He said that over the years he has done anything and everything. He would give the task to the young Jeffrey. "At least there is a scent of freshness!" He also joked that the film company should be the one to get benefits to the actors. Jeffrey had a lot of fan support. He said that this was the second year he took part in a Lunar New Year film. He hoped that everyone would watch the movie several more times to support him, and he was very happy to have the chance to wish everyone a Happy New Year through the big screen. Jeffrey said that with box office success he would get wet to celebrate, especially during the New Year getting wet was good luck; Minchen who has agreed to celebrate by wearing qipao also said that the wearing qipao in the New Spring was also good luck, but lately she has been busy with work and not have the time to buy any. The next day she would immediately take action. She said that in order to wear qipao she might have to watch what she ate during the New Year; Minchen said, "I would still eat, at most I would exercise more." Lin Minchen said that her family would come to Hong Kong to celebrate the New Year with her. She has already bought New Year's Day movie tickets for the entire family to support her. * (2024/02/04) Gregory Rivers (Hor Kwok Wing) yesterday morning passed away at age 58 in his Sai Kung home. Two nights ago around 10 PM in si Kung, a 58 year old foreign man was down faced down at a home. Charcoal burning suicide was suspected in the first floor bedroom. The victim was confirmed to be actor Hor Kwok Wing. The police is investigating the cause of death. Known as the "official foreigner" Hor Kwok Wing came from Australia. He originally was a medical school student. At the university under the influence of his Chinese classmates he fell in love with listening to Cantonese songs and became interested in Hong Kong culture. Hor Kwok Wing in 1988 came to Hong Kong and joined TVB, made almost 300 series, leaving a deep impression. His parody song ATV FOREVER also became a sensation. Reportedly Hor Kwok Wing's wife passed away last year, which might have been the cause of his suicide. Hor Kwok Wing met his Hong Kong girlfriend while working as an English teacher when he was younger. When Hor Kwok Wing's visa came due, in order to avoid being deported he decided to marry his girlfriend and held a wedding n 1989. Some said that at the time his future father in law strongly objected to the marriage, as he thought that foreigners liked to "mess around". Thus Hor Kwok Wing hand wrote a letter and moved his future father in law with sincerity. Hor Kwok Wing and his wife were very much in love after marriage. Due to his wife's heart issue making her unsuitable for giving birth, they gave up having children early on and adopted 13 dogs over time. Once suffering from emotional issues due to hormonal imbalance, Hor Kwok Wing was able to rise from the abyss due to his dogs. He even set aside his plan to return to Australia when his dog had health issues. Hor Kwok Wing in order to treat his 16 year old dog, as well as his skin cancer and his heart arrhythmia operation cost, owed HK$ 800,000 in debt and was once in financial difficulty. Hor Kwok Wing's manager has already contacted his younger sister in Australia to handle his affairs. As the news of Hor Kwok Wing's passing spread, many in the business remembered him on social media. Gill Mohinderpaul Singh (Kiu Bo Bo) said that Hor Kwok Wing's passing was their common regret, everyone would always remember him. Director Lee Lik Chi lamented the uncertainty of life as another friend in the business passed away. Bernice Liu bik Yi praised Hor Kwok Wing's friendly behavior in life. His good friend and fellow "official foreigner" Brian Burrell (Bo Wai Kit) revealed that around a week ago he found out that Hor Kwok Wing was facing a very difficult challenge. When he tried to contact him he did not receive any response. Now he could only give his condolences and hope that everyone would cherish those around them. Hor Kwok Wing's MAN ON THE EDGE (BIN YUEN HUNG JEH) co-star Simon Yam Tat Wa was surprised and praised his passion for the Chinese culture, spoke fluent Cantonese. He lamented the loss of an excellent actor; friend Michael Tong Man Lung upon learning the news did not want to believe it was true. J.Arie became Gregory Rivers' god daughter after working on the Gordon Lam Tung produced film GET OUTTA HERE (SEI HOI DI LA). She was reluctant to talk much about her godfather's passing. "I think Godfather and his family would like to keep a low profile for now, I hope you would understand." Hor Kwok Wing was originally scheduled to work on the Jordan Chan Siu Chun, Justin Cheung Kin Sing and Jeannie Chan Ying starred series OCTB 2 in April. Last year's Hins Cheung Kwok Wing starred film EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL (CHIU SUN GAING HAI GIP ONG HA) became his final film. Originally named Gregory Charles Rivers, artist Hor Kwok Wing once revealed that his Chinese name was completely because of his idol Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing. In 1985 in order to get close to his idol he became his official driver in Australia. The next year he again offered his services to Alan Tam Wing Lun. After seeing the two superstars in close distance he decided to get into the business to chase his dreams. In 1987 Hor Kwok Wing after coming to Hong Kong worked many different jobs. Once as guest he performed with Tam Wing Lun in his 1987 concert. Later by chance he joined TVB. He also worked as Chow Yun Fat's English tutor, followed him to Hollywood and instructed in English for a year. * (2024/02/04) Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Gordon Lam Ka Tung, Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai), Maggie Cheung Ho Yee, Nancy Wu Ting Yan, Lam Suet, Paulyn Sun Kai Kwan, John Chiang Dai Wai and his son John Chiang Jr. and others last night attended their film ROB N ROLL (LUM SI GIP ONG)'s charity premiere at the Kwun Tong apm. Siu Chai spoke of fighting Ka Tung to the ground, he joked, "It was tougher than performing a concert"; Ka Tung revealed that at first the director asked him to "charge less". "He said that he would benefit me with romance, Yan Ting would play my wife. Who knew that we would have to keep arguing, it truly was the pain of men." Playing an armed robber for the first time, Sing Sing pointed out that the Vietnamese in the film was the hardest to handle. Luckily in the end the director accepted the take. Did he have very few lines this time? Sing Sing admitted, "No, only less than Siu Chai and Ka Tung in comparison. In the film Siu Chai played a social worker, Ka Tung drove a taxi, Ho Yee hasn't played law enforcement before. This team of ours is very fresh." Ho Yee joked that earlier while shooting on location on Temple Street she ran like mad, "I really have a fear of firing gun, as soon as I hear gun shot my eyes can't see and my ears can't hear. It's my personal problem. This time at work I considered having conquered it, but I had to be heavily insured. Who knew if there would be any accident, later I still have to work on skin care product commercial!" The three lead actors said, "Since she never fired a gun before, we were so scared that we scattered. Luckily the film company has purchased enough insurance, haha!" The film has already reached 200 million at the mainland box office. Lam Ka Tung felt that word of mouth would be even more important, the word of mouth in the mainland said that the film was not the usual Hong Kong crime film. Ho Yee said that the film was very authentic, so the good performance was within expectation. Siu Chai and Sing Sing also had expectations for the Hong Kong box office. "Ultimately the more the better, the best would be win win at the box office and with word of mouth. (Would you return to Hong Kong for audience appreciation events?) No, I would have work to do coming up; not to mention that earlier after the mainland audience appreciation tour I was completely wilted (referring to getting sick). Maybe after the concerts ended I went right into promoting the film, so we had this situation." Ka Tung followed, "He had the flu, so we kept toughing it out (referring to worrying about getting infected)." Sing Sing chuckled, "Everyone saw Ka Tung holding me up, actually he was holding me tight like a woman would." Did he have tonsillitis? Sing Sing said, "At the time Ka Tung heard even my voice changed, so later in Malaysia Ho Yee would have to promote for me." In addition, Wu Ting Yan revealed that this time she played a pregnant lady and worked with Ka Tung for the first time. She had to rely on the taxi driver husband Lam Ka Tung, and live in squatter area and have in law issue with Sister Bau (Nina Paw Hee Ching). She remembered during the shoot she was working on the series NARCOTICS HEROES and playing a finance queen who was great at making money. The contrast was rather large and during the performance she thought it was very interesting. "This time is my second time making a movie, I hope to have even more chances to land on the big screens. I too want to discover a different side of me." Ting Yan said that in particular she very rarely made comedy; her more comedic performance would have to go back to A FIST WITHIN FOUR WALLS. She hoped in the future she would be able to uncover even more potential. As for Gregory Rivers (Hor Kwok Wing)'s suicide, Ka Tung said that he and Hor Kwok Wing were already working together in 1993 at TVB and have known each other for over 30 years. "Last night when I landed from Malaysia I got the news. I was very surprised. We are good friends." He pointed out that early on he invited him to make the film GET OUTTA HERE (SEI HOI DI LA) because he needed an opportunity. Ka Tung also felt that he performed very well. However in recent years they rarely saw each other, only having tea together occasionally. Ka Tung said that he did not know so much has happened to him in the past year. Today he would also contact the Hong Kong Performing Artist Guild and see if he could help with anything. * (2024/02/04) The Hong Kong Screenwriters' Guild two days ago announced the 2023 "Best Film Character Award" nominees, including A GUILTY CONSCIENCE (DUK SIT DAI JONG)'s Lam Leung Shui (Dayo Wong Tze Wah), THE GOLDFINGER (GUM SAU JI)'s Ching Yat Yin (Tony Leung Chiu Wai), READY O/R ROT (BUT YUT SING FUN 2)'s Tsang Ho Yee (Michelle Wai Sze Nga), TIME STILL TURNS THE PAGES (NIN SIU YUT GEI)'s Cheng Yau Kit (Sean Wong Tsz Lok), and THE LYRICIST WANNABE (TIN CHI L)'s Law Wing Sze (Chung Suet Ying). Michelle Wai Sze Nga with her Emperor Motion Picture READY O/R ROT (BUT YUT SING FUN 2)'s "Tsang Ho Yi" role received the Hong Kong Screenwriters' Guild "Best Film Character" nomination. Nominated for the first time with LION ROCK (SI JI SHAN SEUNG), Michelle got the nod again 6 years later. She stated that the credit belonged to the production team. "I am very grateful for the encouragement from the Hong Kong Screenwriters' Guild, Wonderfully during the performance process, I grew up with 'Tsang Ho Yi'. On a certain level she has even changed Wai Sze Nga." As for whether she was confident about winning, she said that being nominated was already getting everyone's recognition. "As an actor I can be the bridge between screenwriters and viewers, make the character into someone with flesh and blood for everyone to like and relate to. I am very lucky, very grateful. I would continue to work hard, and I hope I wouldn't disappoint anyone who supports me." * (2024/02/03) The Emperor Motion Picture THE MOON THI3V4S was Steve Yuen Kim Wai directed, Anson Lo Hon Ting, Edan Lui Cheuk On, Louis Cheung Kai Chung and Michael Ning (Bak Ji) starred with special performance by Keung To. It would open on the Lunar New Year's Eve, but before the release good news arrived; the film has been invited to be the 19th Osaka Asian Film Festival's opening film. Director Yuen Kim Wai and the actors were excited as if they got a shot of confidence. Yuen Kim Wai said that the Osaka Asian Film Festival's selection of THE MOON THI4V3S was extraordinarily meaningful. "Each actor and staff member's contribution has received an international film festival's recognition, we are more than honored! This time the most meaningful is that the jury sees the effort in the film production. It is able to ditch the idol frames and give the recognition objectively, so they would be able to affect non Hong Kong viewers as actors." He longed to be able to attend the Osaka Asian Film Festival with the actors in person, experience the unique atmosphere with the film festival and listen to viewers' opinions in close distance. Lo Hon Ting said that this film was his first Lunar New Year film, which was a very special experience. He said, "In general Lunar New Year films would be family films with happy endings, but this time would have a lot of fight scenes. It's an action drama, to be able to take part in this film is my honor." In the film he played an ordinary guy Yau. At first he felt how to play the character with more dimensions would be very difficult, he thanked Cheung Kai Chung and Bak Ji for their help. Edan also thanked the cast and the crew for the time and effort they contributed, and treated this film seriously. Keung To said that he felt honored and thanked the cast, the crew and the director for giving him the opportunity to participate. He said, "This character is a great breakthrough, as well as a new attempt. It's the first time I fired a real gun. Despite everyone sees me seemingly without any fear, actually inside I was very scared." He hoped through this film Japanese viewers would get to know them even more. * (2024/02/03) Director Sunny Chan Wing Sun two nights ago led Stephy Tang Lai Yun, Louis Cheung Kai Chung, Lin Minchen, Peter Chan Charm Man, Jeffrey Ngai Chun Sun, Helena Law Lan and others appeared at their film TABLE FOR SIX 2 (FAN HEI GUNG SUM 2)'s premiere meet. The actors sang the film theme song WE WERE ONCE OLD AND GRAY, then Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing's MONICA and Ekin Cheng's TOGETHER. The crowd cheered. When asked about their confidence in the box office, Tang Lai Yun said that she was nervous but still looked forward to how everyone would respond after watching. However she did not dare to say that it would be able to break the predecessor's over HK$ 7 million box office. Ah Chung said that he had confidence in the box office and felt that it would beat the first film's record, because people who have seen the advanced screenings told him that the new film was better than the first film. Aside from appearing at audience appreciation shows, he would also disguise himself to observe the audience reaction. He also pointed out that this time the premiere's over 1,000 tickets were sold out in seconds. "The staff reported that the audience laughed happily, which is like a shot of confidence for us. Although we can't control the box office, the team put a lot of heart into the production. Everyone are very happy to work together, which is already priceless." Tang Lai Yan expressed that she would stay in Hong Kong for the Lunar New Year to coordinate with the audience appreciation events. She said that two years ago she went to over 100 shows for TABLE FOR SIX. This time with numerous actors, they could divide into several teams. What kind of benefit would they give for good box office? Tang Lai Yun joked that she would have to give the responsibility to the actors. Ah Chung asked, "Other than my singing voice, what else I can show? I am always showing." Speaking of repeating the three song performance from the film, Cheung Kai Chung said that he would give his all to sing MONICA. As for other benefits for the viewers, he said, "The most powerful would be Brother Sau (Wu Fung) and Law Lan. As long as they are will to show their faces, everyone would be already very happy." Speaking of his films THE MOON THI4V3S (DOH YUET JEH) facing off against TABLE FOR SIX 2, Cheung Kai Chung said that the two films would be very different and his characters would also have a lot of differences. "I hope everyone would watch both movies. TABLE 2 has emotional build up, everyone work as one. I feel no regret, I am proud of it. I feel the movie is good enough for people to see." Ngai Chun Sun declared that if the box office would reach HK$ 7 million, he would not mind bringing one of revealing wet scenes from the film to the cinemas. Minchen said, "I can't get wet, but I would wear different qipao everyday to cinemas for audience appreciations events and lai see." How would they use the lai see they would get? She said that her family would come to Hong Kong for the Lunar New Year, so she would take them to a feast, visit and see the movie to support it. As for their lai see strategy, Ngai Chun Sun said, "I don't need it; Lin Minchen has it worse, being away from home. She should get more lai see to experience everyone's love. My home is Hong Kong, so I would give away lai see." * (2024/02/02) Currently busy with another new film MISJUDGEMENT (NG POON) in Hong Kong, Donnie Yen Chi Tan would begin work on FLASH POINT 2 in April or May before jumping into other projects. Earlier he was working on a large scale car crash scene for MISJUDGEMENT in Sham Shui Po. With injury make up all over his face, he ran on the streets for a dozen or so times. Constantly in training and exercising he rapidly ran back and forth many times without being out of breath. After the shoot he even watched the playback immediately and interacted with the director. Neighbors greeted Chi Tan, and he would wave in response when he was not in a scene. * (2024/02/02) Kay Tse On Kay and Larine Tang Yueping worked together on the new film OUT OF THE SHADOW (NGOR DAI DIK TU YUN SUN WOOT) has been invited to participate in the 19th Osaka International Film Festival. They both said that this time was a new challenge. Kay was happy to work with good actors she has never worked with before; Tang Yueping had special training to prepare for the fight scenes in the film and thus fell in love with martial arts. The Tse On Kay, Tang Yueping, ANSONBEAN Chan Ngai Sun, Natalie Tong Sze Wing and Lawrence Cheng Tan Shui starred film with special performance by Michael Ning (Bak Ji) and guest performance by Alice Chan Wai, OUT OF THE SHADOW has been invited to take part in the 19th Osaka Asian Film Festival "Spotlight" and "Special Focus on Hong Kong" sections. It would also make its world premiere at the event. Playing the mother in the film, Kay was excited. "Before making OUT I haven't participated in television and film performance in a long time. This time would be considered my comeback film." She pointed out that the entire team worked together harmoniously. The film had many actors she has not worked with before, for her it was a very new line up. Playing Kay's daughter, Tang Yueping was also excited. "I am very happy to be able to participate in the Osaka Asian Film Festival. This film is packed with Hong Kong specialty nostalgia, I hope the Japanese viewers after watching would have the impulse to visit Hong Kong. This time many new actors participated, including me. I hope everyone would pay more attention to it." She stated that the biggest gain was meeting Kay, and praised her as an actor with a very strong influence. She also said that this time would have more fight scenes. "For me its' a new challenge, so early in the production I did a lot of preparation, like kung fu training. I made a special request to the producer to help me get more classes and training, after the shoot I fell in love with kung fu." * (2024/02/01) The Stephy Tang Lai Yun, Louis Cheung Kai Chung, Ivana Wong Yuen Chi, Lin Minchen and others starred, Sunny Chan Wing Sun directed Lunar New Year film TABLE FOR SIX 2 (FAN HEI GUNG SUM 2), for which Wong Yuen Chi wrote and performed film song WE WERE ONCE OLD AND GRAY, and director and screen writer Chan Wing Sun wrote the lyrics. After the song from TABLE FOR SIX, Wong Yuen Chi and Chan Wing Sun worked together again. Chan Wing Sun said that this time he asked Wong Yuen Ch to create the song according to one of the major scenes in TABLE FOR SIX 2. They held many meetings to discuss and analyze the 5 "Table" members' emotions in the scene. Wong Yuen Chi said that the second film's theme song had an different style. In comparison of the rich rhythm of the previous film's theme song, this song would be heart warming and full of emotions. After receiving the director's lyrics, she got teary eyed. The film song's lyrics and music video foretold the relationships of the film's lead characters would run into new impact, as the "Table" family faced break up. Chan Wing Sun recalled the first time he got the music from Wong Yuen Chi, he was already very touched. She filled in one part with the words "remember remember". He followed those words and the style of the song and wrote the lyrics more like a narration. He even revealed that when he listened to the song at home, as soon as his wife heard it she was already moved to tears. He said, "My wife feels why does this song is so different from the previous film's comedic atmosphere, now it has become a banned song at my home. I can't play it casually, because she might cry." He said that his wife kept asking him about the story of TABLE FOR SIX 2, why would the film song's atmosphere be so solemn. Old Fox teaches Liao Jie how to survive in society, and that is something his father has never taught him. Nonetheless, Liao Jie ends up hurting Old Fox with what he has learned from Old Fox. On the other hand, like his father, Liao Jie is someone who always empathizes with others, and it is this quality that stops Liao Jie from becoming another "Old Fox". THE MOVIE EMPEROR d.
