Each had a black and white and color photo. * (2023/03/29) The "Miss You Much Leslie Exhibition" press preview and opening ceremony yesterday took place at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum in Sha Tin, Hong Kong. Cheung Kwok Wing's friends Chan Suk Fun, William Chang Suk Ping, Wing Shya, John Chiang Dai Wai and Lee Lam Lam, Wu Fung, Alan Chan Yu Chien, Mok Ho Man Yee (Karen Mok Man Wai's mother), Lin Yim Fai, Maria Cordero and Cecilia Yip Tung were among the attendees. 61 sets of exhibits were on display, the red heels from the 1997 concert, the white feather costume from the Passion concert were on display for the first time. Three of Cheung Kwok wing's friends Chan Suk Fun, Chang Suk Ping and Wing Shya were the guest planners of this exhibition. The exhibition's opening ceremony took place inside the theater and invited designer Chan Yu Chien, Mok Ho Man Yee and Lin Yim Fai to share their experience with Gor Gor. Mok Ho Man Yee said that when she saw him at a singing contest at RTV in 1977 she already went "wow". Back then RTV was the weaker station and had to recruit superstars, Gor Gor more than met the criteria and he was signed immediately. In one scene she was faced ith her onscreen father Yam Tat Wa's passing but could not cry. She said that she was similar to the character . "When Papa passed I didn't have any tear either. Even I was baffled by why I didn't cry? Do I not love Papa? At the time I continued to play with kids and appeared to be very happy, until several months later when I dreamt of Papa. He bought fruits and came home. After I woke up I just couldn't stop crying." The event announced today that Italian director Liliana Cavani and Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Chiu Wai would receive the Golden Lions for Lifetime Achievement at the 80th International Film Festival of the Biennale di Venezia. The decision was made by the Board of Directors of La Biennale, upon recommendation of the Director of the Festival, Alberto Barbera. Leung Chiu Wai could not feel more honored after hearing the news and hope to celebrate with all the filmmakers he has worked with! Tony Leung Chiu Wai has starred in three movies which have won the Golden Lion at the Venice International Film Festival, including Hou Hsiao-hsien's A CITY OF SADNESS (1989), Tran Anh Hung's CYCLO (1995), and Ang Lee's LUST, CAUTION (2007). Wai Jai's excellent acting has made him a frequent guest at award shows and won countless awards. Wai Jai has won the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actor 5 times and the Golden Horse Awards Best Actor 3 times, the most honored actor at both events. He has often been invited to attend film festivals around the world. Internationally renowned, many famous directors, producers and actors would like to work with him. They included Cheung Kwok Wing's former manager and friend, Fun Entertainment chief Florence Chan Suk Fun organized April 1st Hong Kong Coliseum concert -- MISS YOU MUCH LESLIE 2023 concert, and the exhibition that she, master class image designer William Chang Suk Ping and famous photographer Wing Shya organized. Chan Suk Fun revealed that concert tickets were sold out on the first day. Many overseas and mainland "Gor" fans would be unable to come to Hong Kong or get tickets. They through different channels asked the organizers to arrange for a live online broadcast of the concert. She decided to broadcast the show simultaneously on the online platform MiFaShow. Starting March 29th, the Miss You Much Leslie Exhibition would take place at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum in Sha Tin. The April 1st Hong Kong Coliseum Miss You Much Leslie concert 2023's preparation has been heating up. The work before hand has been numerous and complex. Chan Suk Fun, ,both the memorial exhibition planner and concert organizer said that as long as "Gor" fans would have the opportunity to get together and remember Gor Gor on the important day of the 20th anniversary, it would be worth even more work for her and the behind the scene team. Mrs. Chan said that in the past "Gor" fans on April 1st would order floral arrangements and send them to certain destinations to remember "Gor Gor". She said that this time the Miss You Much Leslie concert 2023 would have many artists and guests in attendance, but the back stage space would be truly limited. Ching Wan accepted the award from guest presenter Koo Tin Lok. He humbly said, "I am very lucky to have become an actor, because I constantly run into people with good intentions, receive many intelligent and interesting scripts." With the lyrics of Jacky Cheung Hok Yau's hit FARAWAY HER, "If the passion hasn't changed, who cares about all the changes", he cheered on screenwriters who silently toiled for Hong Kong film in a rather thoughtful way. In real life they had no mortgage trouble. Mo Shun Kwan felt fortunate that she has paid off her home long go. Yeung Wai Lun had his parents' backing, so he would rather rent than to be a slave to housing. He did not want to put money first just to pay the mortgage, because he might have to compromise in many other things and affect creativity. Mo Shun Kwan and Yeung Wai Lun in OVER MY DEAD BODY play mother and son, like many people in Hong Kong they are slaves to housing. In real life, Sister Mo felt fortunate as the mortgage was paid long ago. Looking around now, many people are like the characters in the film. They work hard and stay poor for a lifetime, since most of their income are used to pay the mortgage. For some families both husband and wife have to work to be able to pay the mortgage. The children would be left for the domestic helper to care for. Sister Mo said, "The advantage is people with homes are almost all multi-millionaires." She did not need to pay a mortgage, which she admitted made her much more at ease and happier. Lately she asked her husband whether she was a happy person. Her husband said without even thinking, "Of course you are, what else don't you have?" After thinking more she agreed, she had both family and career and she was already pleased. Although Ah Lun had no home on hand, he felt very happy because he had support. He said, "I grew up in a small family, my parents have a home. I don't have any mortgage burden. Now I am renting. If I have money problems I can move back home. I want to live freely. I don't want to carry a mortgage for several decades, putting money first in order to pay. I might have to compromise in a lot of things and creativity would be affected. Now I can choose scripts and roles I like." Sister Mo agreed, feeling that for people having the ability to choose would be very important. Ah Lun worked with Sister Mo for the first time and admitted that he felt a little overwhelmed because she was an actor he really admired. Each time he watched the Sister Mo starred ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL (GA YAU HEI SI), he would feel it was entertaining and funny. "Sister Mo is pretty and funny, very sharp and rare. Working with an actor I admire, at first I am very nervous. However from the table read on, everyone have already been chatting, found the performance direction. During the shoot everyone focus on acting, putting all our hearts into the movie. All the pressure has vanished." Many actors have played Sister Mo's son, including the father and son in the film Ronald Cheng Chung Kei and Edan Lui Cheuk On. Sister Mo could not help but laugh when she heard Ronald. "Ronald grew up rapidly, if he plays my son again he would no longer resemble it. Now he looks like my guy, so in the film Ronald and I are somewhat ambiguous." As for Ah Lun, Sister Mo said, "In the film the role of Papa didn't appear. Daughter (Jennifer) Yu Heung Ying is pretty like me. Ah Lun is an inventor, this intelligence must come from Papa. Ah Lun and Sister Mo were nominated for Hong Kong Film Awards with THE SPARRING PARTNER and MAMA'S AFFAIR (AH MA YAU JOR DAI YI GOR). The former said that the nomination alone already scared him stiff and he did not dare to think too much, while the latter treated it normally. Sister Mo said that OVER THE DEAD BODY had many group scenes but few bad takes. "Watching Mr. Lau Kong's exciting performance live is already worth the price of admission." Ah Lun pointed out that they very quickly built chemistry. Like playing soccer, they passed fast, smoothly and accurately. Sister Mo said, "The only one is the child actor who plays my granddaughter. The exhibit had valuable collections on loan from Cheung Kwok Wing fans and friends, including Andrew Lam Man Chung's hand written lyrics to DON'T INTEND TO SLEEP, Manfred Wong's LOVE FLAME and WHO CAN RELATE autographed white vinyl records, and Vincent Kok Tak Chiu's photos from the sets of ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL (GA YAU HEI SI), ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL TOO (FA TIN HEI SI), and OKINAWA RENDEZ-VOUS (LUEN JIN CHUNG SING). Kot Man Fai even created 1:1 scale Gor Gor sculpture. Kot Man Fai said, "Creating Gor Gor's bust took two weeks. Although I wasn't considered close with Gor Gor before, from Sister Mui (Anita Mui Yim Fong) he learned about Gor Gor's work ethics. Thus I admired him very much. He is well worth learning from." Man Lim Chung remembered working with Gor Gor on HAPPY TOGETHER (CHUN GUONG JA SIT) in Argentina. "During the shoot I had to return to Hong Kong to prepare for my wedding. After Gor Gor found out, he gave me a tight embrace. He not only was happy for me but also joked that 'We too want to get married'. Earlier when I was cleaning up I found a 3R film of a photo of Gor Gor and us in Argentina." Chan Yu Chien revealed that at home he had a collection of Gor Gor's album covers. He said that although he and Gor Gor were not too familiar, Gor Gor frequently invited him to dinner at his place. "He really valued relationships." * (2023/03/24) The 77 year old veteran actor Stanley Fung Shui Fan has settled in Taiwan for decades. Earlier he attended the Joe Chien directed Taiwan film press conference and said that he did not like some of the comedies he took part in in the 1980s. He slammed Wong Jing, who directed the film series THE ROMANCING STARS (JING JONG JUI NUI JAI) and THE CRAZY COMPANIES (JUI GAI SUEN YAU). Fung Shui Fan said that those were not comedies, but outrageously rotten rotten films. Wong Jing made movies too absurdly and left many people in bad shape. She and Gor Gor worked together on RTV series and would always remember her days of working with Gor Gor. Their group of young people after work was unwilling to sleep, once they went to one of their homes for a pot luck party, almost forgot where they were from all the fun they had and still went to work as usual the next day. Young people were rebellious like this. Having followed Gor Gor for over 40 years, experienced fan Shirley was one who provided items from her collection and shared her "encounter with Gor Gor". After 20 years, she still missed him. "Gor Gor was a superstar who beyond our reach, but he was very friendly and always had others in mind. It was like we grew up together, I really missed him. 20 years ago, on the day of his passing, I was very depressed until his funeral. I went to bid farewell and watched his hearse depart. I was so heartbroken that I lost it immediately and broke down in tears. After so many years, now I would miss Gor Gor normally, spread his love and the beauty of how serious he was about things and sincerely he was toward friends." Shirley said since she was a teenager, she was attracted to Gor Gor's handsome looks. "I treated him like a boyfriend, I really admire how he treats work, people and things, he was very kind." She looked back at the 1980s when the technology was not as advanced and her family was very strict, chasing stars was very difficult. She could only join the fan club. She was fortunate to have participate in several of Gor Gor's birthday parties, two of which she would never forget. Shirley recalled, "Once at a Central hotel ballroom, I was picked to play a game on the stage and received an autograph poster from Gor Gor. At the time I gave him a kiss, Gor Gor didn't resist and even knelt down lightly to get close to me. He gladly accepted it. In my impression he was very tall, very handsome, smelled great. At another fan club event, near the end I ran to the stage and lined up to get a photo with him. Gor Gor was very friendly, he even put his arm around my shoulder. I was very nervous, but the scene was very hard to forget." Shirley said that she was very thrifty when she was young, relying on her allowance to buy Gor Gor's poster, work, photos and newspaper clippings. So far she has collected over 100 items. On Gor Gor's birthdays and passing anniversaries, she would take them out to reminisce. Exhibit docent Ah Ling has fallen for Gor Gor since his 1980s record FALLEN FOR YOU.
