* (2022/07/27) Famous Hong Kong screenwriter and director Alex Law Kai 
Yui passed away early this month at age 69.  His memorial event will 
take place on August 3rd between 6 and 8:30 PM at the Methodist 
International Church and his farewell ceremony will take place the 
next morning.  His remains will then be transported to the Diamond 
Hill Crematorium for cremation.
	Law Kai Yui and girlfriend Mabel Cheung Yuen Ting worked 
together countless times in the film industry and were nicknamed 
the "Bonnie and Clyde of Directors".  After over 38 years in the film 
industry, most of their work were Cheung Yuen Ting directed and Law 
Kai Yui written.  They created many classic films together, 
including AN AUTUMN'S TALE, THE SOONG SISTERS, CITY OF GLASS and A 
TALE OF THREE CITIES.  Among them PAINTED FACES, NOW YOU SEE 
LOVE...NOW YOU DON'T, and ECHOES OF THE RAINBOW were Law Kai Yi 
written and directed.  With AN AUTUMN'S TALE and ECHOES OF THE 
RAINBOW he won the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Screenplay.  PAINTED 
FACES at the Hong Kong Film Awards and the Golden Horse Awards won 
many awards, including the Golden Horse Award Best film, director 
and original screenplay.

* (2022/07/26) This summer had many new film releases, viewers have 
been very supportive as many films were big hits.  The Edan Lui Cheuk 
On, Sandra Ng Kwan Yu and Ronald Cheng Chung Kei starred CHILLI LAUGH 
STORY (HOP GA LAT) opened on July 14th.  The Sean Lau Ching Wan 
starred DETECTIVE VS. SLEUTHS (SUN TAM DAI JIN) opened on July 21st.  
CHILLI LAUGH STORY had momentum and was the single day box office 
champion on Sunday (the 24th) with over HK$ 1.7 million and beat the 
second place DETECTIVE VS. SLEUTHS and its HK$ 1.59 million.  CHILLI 
LAUGH STORY after 12 days in release made over HK$ 20 million.  
DETECTIVE VS. SLEUTHS after 4 days made over HK$ 5.2 million.  The 
Marvel movie THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER after 19 days made over HK$ 43 
million.  TOP GUN: MAVERICK after 60 days made over HK$ 99 million.

* (2022/07/26) Stephy Tang Lai Yan and Louis Cheung Kai Chung starred 
in the film TABLE FOR SIX (FAN HEI GUNG SUM), which gave an early 
surprise to viewers recently.  The film shot a music video for the 
roast pork theme song CHA CHA CHA LOVE SONG and invited Ah Chung and 
Stephy to star.  The former even personally wrote the music.  In the 
music video they had fun with the 80s and 90s Japanese drama style.  
The film's director Sunny Chan Wing Sun even praised Stephy as a 
comedy expert.  The always funny Ah Chung whether in the film or the 
video gave his all.  "I followed the script for the music video, 
sang the easy lyrics but looked like I put in a lot of effort into 
the performance.  I just followed what those elders did, danced 
strongly while singing something else, haha!"

* (2022/07/26) Chin Siu Ho, JuJu Chan Szeto and Anthony Lau Wing 
yesterday attended a film press conference.  Chin Siu Ho looked much 
thinner.  He said that he currently weighed 65 kilogram, at his 
lightest he was only 61 kg.  The reason for the weight loss was in the 
past two years he went to work in Shanghai.  During the quarantine 
the food was not to his liking, which made him get used to only having 
one meal a day.  He became thinner but his skin was also better.  
However when he worked on action films would he be physically handle 
them?  Siu Ho joked, "First I have already of a certain age, the 
action performance would all be just making poses.  I wouldn't need 
to risk as much as before!"
	Siu Ho said that in the past 10 years he has been working in 
the Mainland.  Every year he would sty for around 8 to 9 months.  He 
would occasionally accept Hong Kong films too.  However earlier the 
pandemic continued in the Mainland, as soon as the district was 
quarantined he would be unable to return to Hong Kong.  Thus he would 
until the pandemic condition to be a little more stable, or after 
the normal travel would resume then he would return to work in the 
Mainland.  Currently while resting in Hong Kong, he could spend more 
time to be with his family.  "My parents are in their 80s, I want to 
spend more time with them.  In addition right now it's too hot, 
shooting on location is too tough.  I have high blood pressure too, 
and I can soon take the MTR for two bucks.  With I age my body 
mechanics age as well, so I am watching what I eat!"
	JuJu Chan Szeto earlier went to the U.S. to make an action 
film.  In the film she had sexy performance, a very good fighter with 
tattoo all over her body.  After completing the film she planned to 
return to Hong Kong, but due to the pandemic there was no direct 
flight.  She had to fly to Los Angeles then to Hawaii, Sydney, 
Vietnam to Hong Kong.  However upon arriving at Australia she caught 
the novel coronavirus.  After resting for 7 days she boarded for 
Vietnam but was turned away.  She was stuck at the airport early in 
the morning.  She alone carried two suitcases and a big bag like she 
was a disaster victim.  After a lot of difficulties she found a 
hotel, she had to pay an astronomical sum but still took it.
	At the end of May she returned to Hong Kong.  After the 
quarantine she went to the recording studio to provide her voice for 
an animation, but that day she had food poisoning and toughed out over 
70 pages of dialogue in several hours.  She said that she did not 
want to hold out for too long, but was praised for her professionalism.  
"May has been very unlucky for me, I hope now all the bad luck would 
quickly pass." 

* (2022/07/26) The TVB and Radio Hong Kong's first jointly organized 
Hong Kong Gold Song Awards 2021/2022 two nights ago took place two 
nights ago, TVB yesterday announced the 8:30 PM live broadcast of 
the Hong Kong Gold Song Awards at TVB Jade reached across platforms 
the highest live broadcast rating of 19.1 points with 1.24 million 
viewers.  The performance was ideal.  TVB also pointed out that with 
the development of new media, the general public viewers would no 
longer be limited to enjoy their programs through traditional 
television.  At the same time they could use computers, tablets or 
smart phones and various other media platforms to browse.  They could 
also go to internet platforms like myTV SUPER to enjoy the program 
again.  The usual weekly release television live broadcast rating 
was already outdated and unable to completely reflect the actual 
situation of viewers' television viewing.  Thus starting yesterday, 
the television rating announcement format would be adjusted.  TVB 
would focus on the station's television program rating information to 
coordinate with the current rating data announcement environment.
	In addition, because the event declared early on that award 
winning singers, even ones absent from the award ceremony, would be 
presented with the awards, the unwritten rule of no attendance, no 
award has been broken.  However because the number of absent singers 
passed 20 (aside from the 12 members of MIRROR, Janice Vidal (Wai Lan), 
MC Cheung Tin Fu, AGA, Kaho Hung, Mischa Ip Hau Lam and others were 
missing) the large amount of absent winning singers also became a hot 
topic.  Some online felt that singers won, were absent but did not 
make any expression was a show of disrespect.  Others online questioned 
the award results.  Winning his first Most Popular Male Singer award, 
Hubert Wu Hung Kwan had a 4 station number one song CLOSED TODAY but 
had no award.  Terence Lam Ka Him's songs were on the Chinese Music 
Chart and Jade Solid Gold chart but also had no award.  Some felt 
that the two stations joint award show was dull and two separate events 
would be better.
	Warner yesterday issued an official response.  "Thank you very 
much to the Hong Kong Gold Song Awards for giving Warner singers 
encouragement and support.  Last night no representative attended the 
Hong Kong Gold Song awards because Janice went on vacation after she 
completed her concerts and was not in Hong Kong.  Kaho Hung, MC Cheung 
Tin Fu, Gigi Cheung Man Chi happened just happened to have jobs on 
their hands.  Their schedule conflicts prevented them from attending."
	Joyce Cheng Yun Yi won the female singer award at many music 
award shows and completed her grand slam.  Two nights ago she said 
in her speech that she experienced a lot at the Television City 
Studio 1, and winning Female Singer at this place felt wonderful.  
Looking back, Yun Yi's princess kiss scene with Ron Ng Cheuk Hei at the 
2005 Children's Song Award upset many viewers and received many 
complaints.  Yun Yi said in her interview later, "Thank you Record 
and Management Companies for giving me a lot of confidence and support.  
The feeling is very wonderful.  In this space and Studio 1, I 
experienced many different events.  However I feel it's not over 
yet.  I hope to continue to improve, through music document each 
growth."
	As for her next goal, Yun Yi admitted that she really wanted 
to repeat as the winner.  At the same time she praised young singers 
now are all very strong and very talented.  "When I was in the 
audience, I thought of when I started singing I was already 20 
something.  I was still dreaming and had my head in the clouds.  Now 
I started to know what I want to do, in the brink of an eye I have 
been a singer for over 10 years, constantly reminding myself not to 
relax."
	Three time TVB Jade Solid Gold award Most Popular Female 
Singer Hana Kuk Chi Kiu two nights ago only won Best Chinese 
Album with CANNOT LET GO.  However while Honorary Award recipient 
Chris Babida was performing with other music makers, Kuk Chi Kiu was 
caught with her eyes closed.  Some online asked whether she was so 
tired that she fell asleep?  Kuk Chi Kiu denied that and said, "At 
the time I was enjoying the music, Classical and Jazz music require 
attention and heart to listen."

* (2022/07/26) The Hong Kong Screenwriters' Guild award presentation 
ceremony 2022 took place earlier.  The Screenwriters' Guild announced
that this year's "Honorary Award" would go to Raymond To Kwok Wai, 
with To Kwok Wai's beneficiary and friend Tse Kwan Ho presenting the 
award to him.  To Sir said that he insisted on living to old age and 
writing to old age.  Screenwriters Gordon Lam Ka Tung and Ho Ching 
Yee also with TIME (SAT CHOOK GOR WONG FUN) received awards and spoke 
about the tough process of creating over the years.
	When Tse Kwan Ho presented the award he thanked To Sir and 
said, "Thank you To Sir for writing THE LEGEND OF THE MAD PHOENIX 
(NAM HOI SUP SAM LONG)'s role for me.  This character enabled me to 
perform for 30 years.  With him, there is no actor Tse Kwan Ho."  To 
Sir after accepting the award from Tse Kwan Ho said, "I spent my whole 
life holding a pen, when I taught I held a chalk pen, when I wrote 
screenplays I used a ball point pen.  I would still continue to 'hold 
the pen'.  Screenwriting is like sculpting a vase.  When you are 
filled with joy from sculpting a very pretty flower vase, the director 
then shatters it; over these years, countless directors have shattered 
countless flower vases of mine.  However being able to enjoy the joy 
of sculpting flower vase is already enough."
	All members of Hong Kong Screenwriters' Guild every year would 
vote for the Recommended Screenplay of the Year Award and the Best Film 
Character of the Year Award" with one vote per person, to honor the 
screenwriters who created Hong Kong film characters and the actors 
who brought the characters to life.  Felix Chong Man Keung presented 
the 2021 Recommended Screenplay of the Year award to TIME's 
screenwriters Gordon Lam Ka Tung and Ho Ching Yee.
	Ka Tung said on stage, "Several years ago, TIME already had 
over 30 drafts but it still didn't work.  After a few years, I thought 
Ching Yee has already quit.  I didn't expect, while I was working on 
a movie in the Mainland, I got another draft from Ching Yee.  Actually 
she was still persisting.  The script that time was close, after I 
returned to Hong Kong I began to promote the project.  Looking back at 
the creative process, I finished writing, fell asleep, let Ching Yee 
make changes, after she was done she gave it to me and it was her turn 
to sleep.  After I made changes, I then woke Ching Yee to make more 
changes...in order to make this script good, the two of us sleep 
countless nights at the company."  As for Ho Yee Ching Yee, she also 
shared the fantastic ideas behind her success.  She said, "The story 
inspiration came from me at the community center, seeing so many 
seniors chatting.  I thought, this maybe one great espionage 
intelligence gathering center. The story thus slowly began."
	Another guest who presented the 2021 Recommended Screenplay 
Award, Gordon Chan Ka Seung said sentimentally when he saw the 
awards.  "The awards before were very 'sloppy', these few years 
finally there is a great looking awards!"  The DRIFTING award winning 
screenwriter Jun Li Chun Shek was honored to receive his colleagues' 
recognition.
	As for the 2021 Best Film Character Awards, it went to Patrick 
Tse Yin and Lam Yiu Sing played Tin Lap Chau in TIME.  Guest presenter 
John Chong Ching again stressed that the importance of character.  
He even said, "The most important thing about buying a property is 
location, location, location, the most important in writing a script 
is character, character, character!"  Unable to personally attend to 
accept the award, Tse Yin's awards was accepted by director Ko Chi 
Bun on his behalf.  He even hilariously reprised Sei Gor's Hong Kong 
Film Award dialogue, "I don't know anything, I only know to come and 
get this award!"

* (2022/07/25) Louis Cheung Kai Chung and Peter Chan Cham Man two 
nights ago attended an audience appreciation event for their film 
TABLE FOR SIX (FAN HEI GUNG SUM).  Unable to appear in person Minchen 
Lin and currently in New York for the New York Asian Film Festival 
director Sunny Chan Wing Sun greeted the audience over video chat 
and thanked everyone for their support.  
	Cheung Kai Chung revealed that after the screening began he 
snuck into the cinema for audience reactions.  He did not expect that 
aside from the expected funny spots, laughter could be heard in spots 
for the audience to catch their breath.  Would they promote like 
crazy for the film?  He said, "Of course I want to.  After two years 
of the pandemic, being able to thank the audience at the movies is 
very valuable."  With Dayo Wong Tze Wa busy with his play, would he 
rely on them to keep up with the promotion?  Cheung Kai Chung said that 
Tze Wa after the play would return to the team.  They as the two 
younger brothers would hold the fort so he would be able to focus on 
his play.  Also postponed due to the pandemic, CHILLI LAUGH STORY 
(HOP GA LAT) broke the HK$ 17 million mark.  Would it bring them 
pressure?  Cheung Kai Chung felt that CHILLI's good box office 
performance proved that everyone had the desire to watch movies.  
TABLE would be released in a different period so no comparison could 
be made.  Chan Cham Man said that Hong Kong film really needs audience 
support.  Even if they were released at the same time, they should not 
be compared.  It would be the best for viewers to watch and support 
every movie.  Cheung Kai Chung agreed that the film industry should 
have a room for a full bloom.  Would they book shows to pump up the 
box office?  Chan Cham Man joked, "I would ask friends to pay out of 
their own pocket to support me.  I would watch with them."

* (2022/07/25) The TVB and Radio Hong Kong's first jointly organized 
Gold Song Award accidentally "slipped up".  The big winner Hins 
Cheung Kin Hin after coming in close contact with someone who tested 
positive for COVID was forced to "miss out" in the last minute.  
Rising in popularity in the Mainland, new generation singers Mike 
Tsang Pei Tat and Gigi Yim Ming Hei as favorites won the Male and 
Female Rookie Awards.  Despite making up after breaking up with TVB, 
Warner Records' award winning singers were all absent.
	The TVB and Radio Hong Kong's first jointly organized Hong Kong
Gold Song Awards 2021/2022 took place last night and presented 35 
awards.  Last night the ceremony's hosts were Carol Cheng Yui Ling, 
Alex Lee Chi Kong, Amigo Chui Kin Bong and Wong Tin Yee.  Attending
singers included Joyce Cheng Yun Yi, Jay Fung Wing Him, Vincy Chan 
(Wing Yi), Phil Lam Yik Hong, JW, Gin Lee, Kayee Tam, Gigi Yim Ming 
Hei, Yumi Chung Yau Mei, Windy Tsim Tin Man, Zaine Sze Hong Kiu,
ANSONBEAN and others.  
	In a show of fairness, the event declared that singers would 
still receive the awards even without attending.  Last night many 
winning singers were indeed absent, which undoubtedly made the award 
show lost some luster.  Even the Warner Records that got into a royalty 
dispute with TVB in the past did not have any singers in attendance 
despite making up.  Even winners like Janice Vidal (Wai Lan), MC 
Cheung Tin Fu and Kaho Hung were all absent.
	The award show was called alternative.  Aside from the winning 
singers, the event also arranged for singers to perform between 
segments and salute music industry elders with classic songs.  
Performers included Phil Lam Yik Hong, Vincy Chan (Wing Yi), 
ANSONBEN and Oscar Tao, as well as a large group of STARS ACADEMY 
graduates Yumi Chung Yau Mei, Windy Tsim Tin Man, Rock Ho Chun Lok, 
Sherman Poon Ching Man, Aeren Man Hoi Ting and others.  The show felt 
more like a mini concert for STARS ACADEMY.
	The Hong Kong Gold Song Awards opened with 23 new singers 
performing a medley of songs like WALK THE ROAD OF LIFE, WE ALL GREW 
UP LIKE THIS, and SEVENTEEN.  They included the returning from her 
vacation Chantel Yiu Cheuk Fei, Gigi Yim Ming Hei, Yumi Chung Yau Mei, 
Zaine Sze Hong Kiu, and STARS ACADEMY singers.  Then Heavenly King Andy 
Lau Tak Wa rose to the stage and performed IF ONE DAY to open the 
show.  Wa Jai near the end even performed new lyrics.  "If one day, 
war and germs are rampant in the entire world, don't be scared, your 
heart and my heart hand in hand would form a line, and become good 
friends to share your worries with."  After the song Wa Jai encouraged 
the group of young singers.  "Hard work doesn't differentiate between 
age, permit me to continue to work hard with you."  Then Wa Jai 
launched the 3D "Gold" Chinese character and the whole note that 
symbolized music had no border formed "Hong Kong Gold Song" award, and 
this historic music event began its elegant opening.
	Wa Jai during his interview said that at the first award that 
two stations jointly held, he felt like he was a new comer too.  He 
said that when the group of new comers sang SEVENEEN, he wanted to 
run out and sing with them.  He also said that he has not stepped foot 
onto Television City for a very long time, earlier he just came to 
borrow the location for shoots.  Did Eric Tsang Chi Wai call in a 
favor and invite him?  Wa Jai said that since the conception of the 
award, TVB Music Group CEO Ho Lai Chuen was responsible for contacting 
him.  As for working with the new generation of singers, Wa Jai hoped 
to have even more opportunities to work together in the future.  He also has paid 
attention to the performance of new singers.  Who made more of an 
impression among the group of new comers?  Wa Jai felt that talks like 
these would be unfair, but he stated that he paid attention to MIRROR 
and ERROR and hoped to have a chance to work with them.  Last night's 
award show seemed to have returned to the previous Jade Solid Gold era, 
and he would release new songs to "fight for awards" with the new 
generation of singers.  Would he help TVB with a series?  Wa Jai stated 
that he has always thought about it.  He liked to make series because 
a long series could create a good character.  What did Wa Jai think 
about the two station joint award show?  He said, "In the past there 
was a four station joint ward to embody the unity of music, now 
starting with two stations isn't bad either.  I don't know whether 
everyone would be able to work together later, and I understand that 
each has its own commercial elements."  Currently working on a new 
film in Hong Kong, Wa Jai later would return to work in the Mainland 
and prepare for SHOCK WAVE 3 (CHAK DAN JUEN GA 3).  As for a Hong Kong 
Coliseum concert he would have to wait for awhile.  Speaking of Michael 
Tao Dai Yu's rise to popularity due to his rendition of Wa Jai's song 
TURN THE EARTH UPSIDE DOWN, he said, "Earlier while getting my hair 
done I ran into Dai Yu, later I would invite him to my concert to sing 
it together."
	Last night 13 categories of music awards were presented.  To 
commend excellent musicians that were widely popular with the fans 
and recognized by the industry, the hosts first announced the top 
"Gold Songs".  Wing Yi's SEA OF THORNS was one of them.  She said that 
it was a huge encouragement for her, because the song was the new 
style she tried in her transition.  She took a lot of risks with it 
and did not know whether the market would accept it, but she enjoyed 
very much introducing music that she liked to everyone.  Wing Yi said 
that her new song later would even challenge her weakness suit of 
dancing.  She hoped everyone would continue to support her.
	The Honorary Award winner Chris Babida played the songs he 
wrote C'EST LA VIE MON CHERI and DASHING WIND on the piano, with Wing 
Yi and Lam Yik Hong performing them.  Then congratulatory videos 
from George Lam Chi Cheung, Sally Yeh (Yip Sin Man) and Coco Lee Man 
were played.  As for other performances, top music makers Chiu Tsang 
hei, Johnny Yim, T-Ma performed with Wing Yi, Yim Ming Hei, Fung Won 
Him, JW, Lam Yik Hong and other singers to salute music elders.  Gigi 
performed Faye Wong's MAY PEOPLE ENDURE and Alan Tam Wing Lun's LOVE 
TRAP, Fung Won Him and JW performed classic songs Jacky Cheung Hok 
Yau's BREAK UPS ALWAYS HAPPEN ON RAINY DAYS and Leon Lai Ming's WISH 
YOU WON'T LEAVE TONIGHT. 
	The entire evening was carried by the Female Singer grand slam 
winner Joyce Cheng Yun Yi and the "popular king" Gigi Yumi Ming Hei.  
Gigi as the favorite won the Female Rookie Gold Prize.  She was so 
happy that she got teary eyed.  The silver went to Chantel Yiu Cheuk 
Fei and the Bronze to Gigi Cheung Man Chi.  Gigi Yim's NOBILITY OF 
TRUTH even broke into the top ten and won the Gold Song award with her 
first song.  When she gave her speech she was a little emotional.  
Aside from calling Radio Hong Kong "Hong Kong Television", 
she also in "Martian" said "then and then" thanking everyone at the 
event, the record company and the STARS ACADEMY singers for chasing 
their dreams with her.  However she also apologized for calling the 
radio station by the incorrect name.
	Gigi said later in her interview that on the stage she was very 
nervous.  She never thought about winning, so when she gave her speech 
she ws incoherent.  In addition she made the mistake of calling Radio 
Hong Kong "Hong Kong Television", so she worried that she would keep 
saying something wrong in her speech.  As for winning all the rookie 
awards, Gigi thanked everyone for their support.  She would continue 
to work hard.  When asked if she had a speech prepared, she said, 
"Actually I did, but I really was too nervous.  A lot that I missed 
I brought back up during the performance."  After Class was rumored to 
be opening the show.  She said that she did not heard about it, but 
she looked forward to the quartet singing together again.  Would she 
set her sight on a Hong Kong Coliseum concert?  She said that she would 
keep working hard, looking forward to one day to be able to perform 
her own concert at there and not disappoint the HK Coliseum stage.  
As for celebrating, she said that originally she planned to celebrate 
with fans outside Television City after the show, but because she had 
to take a test the next day at school, she would wait until she would 
have ample time to meet with her fans.
	The Male Rookie Gold Prize went to Mike Tsang Pei Tat, while 
the silver went to MC Cheung Tin Fu and the bronze to ANSONBEAN.  
Although the popular MIRROR member Edan Lui Cheuk On did not win, he 
won a Gold Song award with MR. E A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS, 
the Best Duet Song and the Best Chinese Album awards with MIRROR's BOSS . 
	Currently busy with a variety program in the Mainland, Mike 
Tsang Pei Tat with I AM NOT AS GOOD won the Gold Song.  He recorded a 
performance of 1984 and his speech, in which he thanked his benefactor 
Eric Kwok.  The group Supper Moment won the Band Award.  Because they 
were performing a concert in the Mainland, they accepted the award 
over video chat.  The Most Improved Gold and Silver prize winners 
Mischa Ip Hau Lam and Kaho Hung were nowhere to be seen.
	Seen as the first historic award show male big winner, Hins 
Cheung King Hin last night was actually absent and disappointed fans 
who had their hearts set on supporting him.  Although Hin Jai was not 
there, he won 3 awards, including the Male Singer award as the 
favorite.  He also won Gold Song with THE WAY WE WERE and Best Chinese 
Album award with THE BRIGHTEST DARKNESS.  Hin Jai's last minute 
absence was not up to him.  He was in close contact with someone who 
tested positive for novel coronavirus, out of an abundance of caution 
he helplessly skipped the show.  Hin Ji apologized in a video, 
"Actually tonight I was fully prepared to participate in the award 
show.  Unfortunately two days ago due to someone on the team was 
infected with the novel coronavirus, from work we also dined 
together."  He revealed that he moved to his studio for quarantine 
and showed his negative rapid test result.  He said that attending an 
award show under the pandemic was not easy, so everyone should take 
advantage of the moment.  He then performed his award winning song.
	Cheng Yun Yi won the Female Singer award and completed her 
female singer grand slam.  She said that life was very amazing, to be 
able to win an award at Studio 1 where she grew up and constantly went 
in and out of since childhood, and for everyone to witness her growth 
on the stage on this night made her feel particularly sentimental.  
Yun Yi was asked whether she was afraid of the new generation.  She 
stated that she would not be able to take them, many of them are very 
young.  She remembered when she started she was in her 20s.  In the 
brink of an eye it was over a decade ago.  She praised that new comers 
now are very talented and reminded her not to relax.  Speaking of 
Google doodle remembering her mother Lydia Shum Din Ha's birthday, Yun 
Yi said that Google has been in contact with her since last year.  She

* (2022/07/24) Gigi Yim Ming Hei, Vincy Chan (Wing Yi), JW and Jay Fung 
Won Him yesterday rehearsed for the HONG KONG GOLD SONG AWARDS 
2021/2022.  The committee's Ho Chung Yan and TVB Music Group Limited's 
CEO Leung Chung Hang revealed that the award show has invited a 
heavyweight guest, with Andy Lau Tak Wa performing the opening 
ceremony with a group of young singers.  At the same time Wa Jai would 
unveile the Hong Kong Gold Song Award's true appearance.  Gigi had 
hope to win all the rookie awards and complete her rookie award grand 
slam.
	Ho Chung Yan and Cheung Chung Hang said that Wa Jai would 
perform with 20 young singers, a rare long performance after the 
pandemic began.  He hoped that it would be able to express the mission 
of passing of the torch and continuing to shine in music.
	Gigi has hope to win all the rookie awards and complete her 
rookie award grand slam.  She thanked everyone for their appreciation.  
Under high expectation she would continue to work hard, but she also 
hoped to win with friend Chantel Yiu Cheuk Fei.  Gigi said that after 
returning to Hong Kong she has not had the chance to see Chantel, but 
she has already seen After Class' Windy Tsim Tin Man and Yumi Chung Yau 
Mei.  Speaking of Wa Jai as the opening ceremony guest performer, Gigi 
joked that everyone ruined the surprise for her.  "for now I still 
haven't seen Mr. Lau Tak Wa.  I know I would have a segment in which I 
would perform with him, but I don't know what the performance would 
be."
	Vincy Chan (Wing Yi) who has not seen Gigi for a long time 
said that she grew up a lot since STARS ACADEMY.  She saw her 
performance in ENDLESS MELODY and sensed that Gigi really enjoyed the 
stage and elevated her abilities of stage control.  Also it was rare 
that behind the camera she was still a little girl.  As for what Wing 
Yi would wear, she said, "There would be something to see, but it's 
not definitely very sexy.  I like to wear strange clothes.  The most 
important was wearing suitable clothes at suitable events."
	Jay Fung Won Him revealed that he would perform Jacky Cheung 
Hok Yau's classic hit BREAK UPS ALWAYS HAVE TO BE ON RAINY DAYS and 
at the same time would dedicate it to his father.  He said, "Because 
after we emigrated to Canada, Papa had to return to work in Hong Kong 
alone.  When I was little and missed Papa, but I listened to his 
cassette collection.  Since then I learned to listen to Cantonese 
songs."  Earlier just completing his first solo concert, Fung Won Him 
felt that this year his performance has been decent.  He was able to 
keep up his music work and production rate.  He hoped to be able to 
repay the record company's support.
	Two days ago the Hong Kong Gold Song award ceremony 2021/2022 
announced the Best Duet Song would go to MIRROR's BOSS.  Although 
MIRROR would not be able to attend as they would be preparing for 
their concert, the Hong Kong Gold Song committee's Ho Chung Yan 
stressed that anyone would still get the award even though they would 
not attend due to the organizers' complete voting standard.  He said, 
"From the awards to the voting standards, the results would be based on 
our two stations' very well rounded methods of the past.  Whether you 
come to accept the award, that's not important.  If you come that's 
great, but if you win and don't come, that's not my problem.  However 
if you don't come it's fine, we still have to respect the standards.  
So we hope in the recording industry everyone would respect each 
other's standards, only that way would we be able to go even further.  
If you hide yourself, no matter how talented you are, this isn't 
targeting certain thins.  We really need to watch out for each other, 
to keep the Hong Kong recording industry bright and hot."  Alex Lee 
Chi Kong joked that Amigo Chui Kin Bong resembles Anson Lo Hon Ting 
and could accept it on his behalf.  

* (2022/07/24) The play THE LAST GIFT two nights ago opened at the 
Academy of Performing Arts, in attendance were Carina Lau Ka Ling, 
Charmaine Sheh Sze Man, Teresa Mo Shun Kwan, Elaine Jin, Albert Yeung 
Sau Sing and his wife, William So Wing Hong and his wife, and 
Michelle Wai Sze Nga and others.  Having performed on the stage, Lau 
Ka Ling admitted that she really enjoyed the rehearsal process and 
missed the feeling of working on a show.  If she would run into a 
suitable script she would consider performing again.  She also 
revealed that her husband Tony Leung Chiu Wai was interested in working 
on a play as well.  Despite the endless offers though, Wai Jai has 
been hesitant and indecisive with concerns galore.  
	The play THE LAST GIFT due to the pandemic was postponed 
for half a year.  Executive producer Yeung Sau Sing after the end 
thanked the staff and the audience.  "Performing the play 6 months 
later, you performed very well.  Thank you everyone.  I also want to 
thank tonight's audience and the audience of the future 39 shows.  
After I heard the decision to suspend the performance I issued a 
notice for the audience to get a refund, but the amount of people was 
almost zero."
	Lau Ka Ling who has not appeared in Hong Kong for awhile two 
nights ago went to the play.  She also had past stage experience and 
admitted that she had an acting bug.  She too felt that a much better 
actor than her, husband Leung Chiu Wai, should go on the stage once.
	Ka Ling returned from Shanghai for about two months.  In the 
past year and a half she stayed in the Mainland for work.  How long 
she would stay this time would depend on the environment, but she 
would rest a little first and handle Hong Kong business.  She would 
also promote her new film WARRIORS OF FUTURE (MING YUT JIN GEI), then 
she would meet up with husband Leung Chiu Wai in Japan.
	Having been in plays, Ka Ling admitted that she still had an 
acting bug.  In particular coming to the Academy of Performing Arts 
again felt very special.  "I have performed a play here, I am very 
familiar with the environment .  It was a lot of fun and I miss the 
feeling of performing a play very much.  I really enjoy the rehearsal 
process, so with a good script I would keep performing.  Earlier I 
have been in various negotiations, only the scripts weren't attractive 
enough."  Ka Ling revealed that Wai Jai would be interested in 
performing in a play as well and has always had offers.  "Mr. Leung 
probably should be on the stage once.  I have been helping him with 
the scripts.  Each time after watching my performance he would be 
tempted, but still hesitant and indecisive without concerns galore.  
Actually he acts better than I do, what does he have to be worried 
about?"
	However Ka Ling pointed out that Wai Jai's schedule has been 
filled until two years from now.  As his manger she actually has only 
been expressing his desires.  Ka Ling revealed that Wai Jai would soon 
head to Canada for a Netflix series, Wai Jai probably should have 
left for Canada already.  Only due to the pandemic he has postponed 
until now.  Ka Ling said that when the shoot would officially begin, 
she would accompany him.  "I would go and take a look, once he's 
settled I would leave.  I don't like to disturb him, so he could focus 
on his performance."

* (2022/07/24) Tang Wei earlier along with Park Hae-il and director 
Park Chan-wook brought their new film DECISION TO LEAVE to the 
Cannes Film Festival.  Tang Wei and Park Hae-iL took time for an 
interview for the Hong Kong audience, during which Tang Wei spoke in 
Cantonese entirely.  Speaking of the spark from their first 
collaboration, Tang Wei immediately had nothing but praise for him.  
"I almost worship a lot about him.  He is very self disciplined, and 
has many ideas."  Park Hae-il replied graciously, "During the 
production, Tang Wei helped me a lot.  Here I hope to express my 
appreciation and gratitude to Tang Wei."  Tang Wei even revealed a 
common interest that few knew abou them.  "Not just that, we also have 
great chemistry.  We would exchange how to plant.  We don't often 
contact each other, as soon as we do we would say, 'Spring is here'.  
Then he would send a photo of his farm land to me."
	DECISION TO LEAVE was the second Korean film for Tang Wei 
since 2012's LATE AUTUMN.  The Hong Kong audience naturally and also 
very curiously asked when Tang Wei would return to make a Hong Kong 
film.  She excitedly said, "Of course I do!  Very much so!  I really 
hope to have the chance to come again.  Hong Kong was where my 
daughter was born, to me it is a very special place.  So I really 
want to return to Hong Kong.  I hope I would have the chance!"

* (2022/07/23) 7 master class Hong Kong directors Tsui Hark, Yuen Woo 
Ping, Ann Hui On Wa, Sammo Hung Kam Bo, Patrick Tam Ka Ming, Johnnie To 
Kei Fung and Ringo Lam Lan Tung directed film SEPTET 
(CHUT YUN LOK DUI) two nights ago held a premiere in Kowloon Tong.  
Aside from stars like Cheung Tat Ming, Emotion Cheung Kam Ching, Lam 
Suet, Mimi Kung Chi Yan, Ashley Lam Hoi Ling and Tony Wu Tsz Tung, 
guests included Stephy Tang Lai Yan, Christine Kuo, Louise Wong Dan Nei, 
ERROR, Yeung Chiu Hoi, Raymond Wong Ho Yin, Louise Lee Sze Kee, John 
Chiang Dai Wai, Lee Lam Lam, John Chiang Jr. (Chiang Cheuk Man), 
Cecilia So Lai Shan, Evelyn Choi Wing Yan, Zeno Koo Ting Hin, Leung 
Chung Hang and others.  With her marriage repeatedly rumored to be in 
trouble, Christine Kuo stated that she would not accept any interview 
and rapidly went inside.
	Tang Lai Yan earlier attended a film festival in Italy for 
her movie.  Looking radiant after her vacation she said, "Actually 
the film festival was only for several days, but I went for 20 some 
days in total.  I took the chance to ride around Italy with a friend, 
from the North to the South."  Known for its numerous handsome guys, 
Italy left her disappointed.  "Maybe the places we went to were too 
remote, all we saw were of certain age.  Few were single."  She also 
revealed that she had 4 films that were waiting for release.  "I don't 
know if that's good or not, I am afraid with too many the audience 
would get tired."
	ERROR was asked if they would like to work with the various 
master class directors?  Fatboy said, "We want to work with all of 
them.  That's how greedy we are.  Reportedly the 4 of us caught a 
Hollywood director's eye and want to work with us."  Speaking of the 
Hong Kong Film Award live broadcast, as soon as ERROR the show went to 
commercial and upset fans.  Poki said, "Several seconds aren't bad!"  
Fatboy pointed out that Poki was the happiest that his idol Nick 
Cheung Ka Fai "called" him.  Poki said, "All you have to be is thick 
skinned!"
	Kung Chi Yan attended the premiere with daughter Lam Hoi Ling 
and 18 year old Lam Cheuk Ngai.  Lam Cheuk Ngai said that because it 
was the premier for his sister's firs movie, he wanted to support 
her.  Kung Chi Yan pretended to be mad and he immediately said, "I 
support Mommy too."  At 6 foot 2, he was asked if he would be 
interested in following his sister's footsteps and join the business.  
He said that he has not thought about it.
	Ashley in SEPTET performed in the Yuen Woo Ping (Lord Eight) 
directed HOMECOMING (WUI GWAI) and had a heart warming grandparent and 
grandchild relationship with Yuen Wah.  Ashley said that when she made 
the film she was only 16.  Looking back now she saw many of her 
shortcomings, but the rarest was getting to work elders like Yuen Wah 
and Lord Eight.  She said that in the film she had action scenes, which 
was very challenging for her because she was clumsy.  Luckily she 
had very patient and professional instructions from Mr. Yuen Wah, Lord 
Eight and the action director.
	Speaking of rumors of her death earlier this month, her 
management company immediately denied them and said that they were 
only pranks.  Ashley was not upset and instead she thought that they 
were very funny.  She would look at the whole thing with humor. Was 
Mommy scared?  Ashley said, "At the time Mommy after reading the 
news came to my room and very peacefully said to me, 'Hey, someone 
said you died.'"  Has she crossed someone or made someone jealous?  
Ashley admitted, "I am not a particular social or smooth person.  I 
wouldn't deliberate follow up.  What others do wouldn't affect my 
mood."  She also said that she was very tough, loved life too much, 
and had so many thing she has not tried yet.  Thus she definitely 
would not easily take her life.

* (2022/07/22) The fresh out of the oven Best Actress Cya Liu left 
home in her teens, rose to fame from a Mainland music contest program 
then "changed jobs" to become an actor.  Her background was similar to 
Zhou Xun's.  She said that she was not the smartest of actors, in the 
past wasting too much time on waiting for opportunities.  She might 
also be the "poorest Best Actress", but she insisted on not changing 
her original intention!
	With 18 years in the business, Cya Liu with her starring role 
in the film LIMBO (JI CHI) won three Best Actress awards.  At the just 
past 40th Hong Kong Film Awards she won Best Actress.  She described 
that at the moment of the announcement her "eyes went dark, mind went 
blank'.  The award felt like it weighed a ton in her hand, as she kept 
telling herself to work even harder from now on and not to disappoint 
everyone.
	The first words that came out of Cya Liu's mouth after winning 
the award was to remind herself from now on she would "value quality 
over quantity and over money" with her roles.  She admitted that she 
perhaps was the "poor Best Actress".  "After making my first movie 
THIRTEEN PRINCESS TREES, which won the 19th Tokyo International Film 
Festival jury special prize.  At the time I was rather popular, but 
gradually no more offers came.  I was staying at a friend's home, 
luckily I didn't have to pay for food.  I ended up wasting my time 
waiting for the next few years!  Later I realized that I still liked 
acting, then I ran into the movie CAFE BY THE HIGHWAY, even though I 
took the role I still made very few.  It couldn't even be called a 
salary.  In the end after reading the scrip I still felt I had to 
fight for the role!"  This film won her Shanxi's Pingyao International
Film Festival Fei Mu Best Actress.
	Looking back, she happily said, "I have only played the lead 
three time, but I won awards for all three.  My instinct has been 
proven to be very accurate, but I am very poor.  However now I can't 
say that anymore, because the Boss (Yeung Sau Sing) would feel very 
embarrassed, haha!"  Of course after winning awards she had film 
offers galore.  She admitted, "I still just wan to fight for roles 
that are challenging and have potentials.  I don't want to make too 
many, otherwise I would be too exhausted."
	She described that "a good company is rather important to an 
actor".  In the past decade or so, she revealed that she offered to 
terminate the contract with her management company many times.  "I 
won't say the reason, but I thank them for releasing me.  It also 
proves that my initial decision wasn't wrong.  Now I am full of 
confidence in Emperor, I might as well sign for life!"  She revealed 
that actually before she first ran into her Emperor manager, a Beijing 
company wanted to sign and cultivate her.  They just had to put it on 
paper.  She said, "Later a friend recommended me to Emperor.  They 
actually haven't seen a single film I have been in, but I turned 
down the Beijing company right away and signed with them.  I feel now 
that I belong somewhere and I feel more secure."
	Cya Liu felt that she was ordinary, and would not consider 
herself the smartest of actors.  "When I made movies before I thought 
I wasn't important, even if I performed poorly the director wouldn't
care.  So I continued on without improving.  This was a vicious cycle.  
Then when I made LIMBO (JI CHI), I finally understood that I was very 
important (referring to playing the female lead).  So I took the 
initiative and communicated with director Cheang Pou Soi.  It was the 
first time I was so brave.  (How did lead actor Lam Ka Tung help you?)  
He is a great elder, from him I learned a lot, especially actor 
ethics.  I know that with acting I can't just watching out for 
myself, I have to successfully focus on the exchange with co-stars."  
Next she would return to the Mainland and work with Donnie Yen Chi Tan 
on SAKRA (TIN LUNG BAK BO ji KIU FUNG JUEN).  She said, "Working with 
Brother Chi Tan for the first time, I know that his demands are very 
strict.  This is exactly what I like!"

* (2022/07/22) Television's Best Actor Vincent Wong Ho Shun and Jennifer 
Yu Heung Ying worked together on the Ng Yu produced film PRETTY 
HEART (SUM LUI MEI), but they had ample chemistry.  Ho Shun praised 
Jennifer's effort in the production.  "Our chemistry was great.  I 
felt that she was an actor would rub herself hard.  This state would 
give other actors heartaches and stimulate them.  everyone would set 
off spark and adding more layers to each scene."
	Jennifer also pointed out that Ho Sun was a great partner.  Like 
in one scene she and her father had an argument.  She was unable to 
get into character right away.  Ho Shun like playing an acting 
instructor asked her a few questions about the plot, which were able 
to put her in character very quickly.
	Aside from almost getting run over, Jennifer in a stairway 
running scene also gave a "fatal performance".  Actually at the time 
she did not know that she was already pregnant, she still kept 
running for her life.  Afterward the entire team would still be 
shaken from thinking about it!  Jennifer also pointed out that the 
scene was very memorable.  She ran for her life according to the 
story, luckily she was fine.
	Television's Best Actor Wong Ho Shun in recent years entered 
the film scene.  He stated that he really wanted to make movies and 
hoped to try different challenges.  Although he was still a film 
industry rookie, he has already contributed to the film scene.  Due to 
the pandemic film production rate gradually declined, the Baptist 
University decided to invest in a cinema circuit movie for the first 
time so students would have a chance at practical work.  The production 
budget of course was low.  In order to help a group of students Ho Shun 
was willing to be a little more flexible with his salary.  He said, 
"I did charge a happy rate, I am very happy to have the space and be 
able to support some of Hong Kong's small and mid scale productions 
that also have heart."

* (2022/07/22) Jeana Ho Pui Yu in the Emperor Motion Picture DETECTIVE 
VS SLEUTHS (SUN TAM DAI JIN) had a breakthrough performance, her 
shaved eyebrows and short hair look was very cool.  However actually 
at first when she had to think for awhile before cutting her hair 
and shaving her eyebrows.  Although in the end she agreed, she kept 
worrying about whether her eyebrows would grow back.  With the 
tomboyish hairstyle, she spent two years before she slowly found her 
self confidence again.
	Ho Pui Yu in the Emperor Motion Picture DETECTIVE VS SLEUTHS 
worked with Sean Lau Ching Wan for the first time, from which she 
benefit a lot.  She said that even though he has made many films, he 
was still very passionate about acting.  Over the three month long 
production, she never saw Ching Wan on the mobile phone on the set.  "I 
really saw someone who was not playing with the phone for the first 
time.  In order to play the scene well, he could be in deep thought 
on the set for hours.  He was very focused!  I remember in one scene 
I thought of two ways to perform and asked Ching Wan would be better.  
He told me that I should come up with 10 or 20 different versions, and 
then see which one the director would like and be able to match the 
atmosphere.  After hearing that I was immediately stunned.  Brother 
Ching Wan was successful for a reason!"
	Jeana's appearance this time in the film was quite a 
breakthrough.  In coordination with the character's rebellious 
personality, she not only had to cut her long hair short but also
shave her eyebrows.  Her behavior would also lean toward being more 
masculine.  She admitted that she struggled for awhile before making 
the decision.  "Actually after shaving the eyebrows I felt that they 
probably would grow back, but actually everyday at make up I had to 
shave, just like a guy with shaving.  At the time I was really afraid 
that they wouldn't grow back again.  In addition even the make up 
artist had hesitation, which scared me even more!  At the time I was 
very low, I had to spent two years before I gradually found my self 
confidence again."
	Since the break up with director Philip Yung Tsz Kwong, Jeana 
has been living the single life.  As a Buddhist she although felt 
that she would leave relationship to fate, she would like to get 
married and have children.  She admitted that after age 30 she 
particularly wanted her own family.  "I don't know why, as soon as I 
reached 30 I really wanted children.  At age 29 I didn't have this 
feeling, maybe after 30 I am overflowing with motherly love. Friends 
around me all have children and they would call me god mother, which 
made me looking forward to having my own family even more.  I would 
have a shoulder to lean on, but I am still looking for my soul mate.  
If I truly run into someone I am in I would take the initiative, but 
whether I would run into someone it would depend on fate, leave it to 
the Moon Elder, haha."

* (2022/07/22) Fresh out of the oven Best Supporting Actress Fish Liew 
Chi Yu yesterday attended the new film CHEUNG HAU HA 823 YUN JUK SI 
GEIN (UNDER THE GUN 823 HOSTAGE INCIDENT)'s production start ceremony.  
Also on hand were Malaysian actor Tong Bing Yu, Helena Law Lan, Don Li 
Yat Long.  The film was based on the "Manila hostage incident" 
tragedy.  A survivor Yik Siu Ling also participated as the film 
consultant.
	Liew Chi Yu said that in December last year she already went 
to Malaysia for a location shoot and went home to visit her family.  
She said, "I haven't seen Mommy in over two years.  I want to go home 
without letting her know.  I remember when I opened the door, Mommy 
with a spatula in hand was stunned.  Then we both couldn't help but 
cry, but Mommy was the great pandemic prevention general.  Just as I 
wanted to hug her, she took me to take a shower first.  After the 
shower everyone already calmed down.  A touching scene ended just like 
this."  As for working on a movie that would be based on real people 
and events, Liew Chi yu said that although in the film she would play 
a fictional reporter, but the director and the screenwriter both 
showed her the documentary on the incident so she would understand 
what happened.  After watching she felt heavy and uneasy.  She even 
remembered watching the live television broadcast at home in Malaysia 
back then.
	Liew Chi Yu after winning Best Supporting Actress has not held 
any big celebration yet.  She said that she would like to go crazy, 
but since the award show she had to keep working.  She said, "I am 
grateful to keep working and being able to make money.  I really want 
to celebrate.  If I can get two days to sleep and clean up my home that 
would be the best."  Speaking of Best Supporting Actor Mason Fung Ho 
Yeung's TVB artist training class enrollment becoming the talk of the 
town, Liew Chi Yu felt that learning would never stop on the journey 
of acting.  "I feel acting is a tall mountain.  Although I have acted 
for over 10 years, I don't dare to say whether I know how to act or 
not.  So I still keep going to classes."  Liew Chi Yu believed that

* (2022/07/22) On the eve of the 49th anniversary of Bruce Lee's 
passing, the fan club "Bruce Lee Club" earlier announced a restoration 
plan.  They worked with the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational 
Education and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design 
to bring back the Bruce Lee home "the Crane's Nest" that has already 
been demolished back to fans in the 3D virtual reality world.  The 
production team said that currently they have finished the street 
scenery and the garden structure initially.  The entire project will 
be completed on July 20th next year, the 50th anniversary of Bruce 
Lee's passing.
	The production team with virtual reality technology displayed 
scenes and interactive tools were produced by three IVA multimedia, 
virtual reality and interactive technology higher diploma students. 
One of the members revealed that the currently completed scenery 
production took over half a year.  The most difficult was the visual 
image research.  They hoped to restore the home 100% and bring back 
this heritage structure that was worth preserving.  The home had 
many interactive elements.  Visitors could find postcards that were 
hidden everywhere at the home, like the postcard on the red Mercedes 
sports car next to the home.  Bruce Lee even chose AX6521 as the 
license plate because his son Brandon Lee Kwok Ho was born in February 
1st 1965.
	"The Crane's Nest" was constructed in early 1970s.  The Golden 
Harvest film company chair Raymond Chow Man Wai purchased it with 
friends to provide a home for Bruce Lee.  It was the final home of 
Bruce Lee in Hong Kong.  After Bruce Lee's passing, wealthy businessman 
Yu Pang-lin purchased the home to be used as a love hotel.  During the 
period no obvious change was made to the building structure.  The 
"Bruce Lee Club" hoped the Special Administrative Region government 
would be able to purchase Bruce Lee's home for a museum, Yu Pang-lin 
was willing to donate the property without any condition for the 
SAR government to find the "Bruce Lee Museum".  However they had a 
difference of opinion on repair issues, regrettably nothing came of 
the project.  With rapid scientific and technological development, 
now Bruce Lee's home could return in another way.  Bruce Lee fan Wong 
Yiu Keung felt that this graphics were just like seeing the real home, 
with a lot of resemblance.  The team planned between August 5th 
and 14th to hold the "endless virtual visit -- Bruce Lee's home 
restoration project" promotional exhibition, for Bruce Lee fans to 
enter Bruce Lee's home for a first glimpse and make up for the 
regret 3 years ago.

	The Leisure and Cultural Services Department Hong Kong 
Film Achieves' "Movies to GO" will on July 30th at noon at the first 
floor theater of the Hong Kong Heritage Museum screen the superstar of 
a generation Bruce Lee's classic film before going to the U.S., THE 
ORPHAN (1960) in coordination with the museum's "A Man Beyond the 
Ordinary: Bruce Lee" exhibition.  After the screening a seminar would 
take place and be open to the public.  Viewers that day could head to 
the Hong Kong Heritage Museum's first floor theater.  Due to limited 
seating, the event will be first come, first serve. 

* (2022/07/21) The film DETECTIVE VS SLEUTHS held a premiere two nights 
ago.  Director Wai Ka Fai led actors including Sean Lau Ching Wan, 
Kathy Yuen (Tong Yee), Deep Ng Ho Hong, Stephanie Che Yuen Yuen, Tony 
Wu Tsz Tung and Kevin Chu Kam Yin in attendance.  Investor Albert 
Yeung Sau Sing, Sammo Hung Kam Bo and his wife Joyce Godenzi (Go Lai 
Hung), Johnnie To Kei Fung, fresh out of the oven Best Actress Cya Liu, 
Hins Cheung King Hin and Irene Wan Bik Ha were among the guests who 
showed their support.  DETECTIVE after over a week in release in the 
Mainland made over 400 million yuan RMB.  Director Wai Ka Fai and lead 
Lau Ching Wan both were pleased.
	Best Actor Sean Lau Ching Wan two nights ago attended 
the film DETECTIVE VS SLEUTHS (SUN TAM DAI JIN)'s premiere alone.  He 
said that he would watch the movie again with his wife Amy Kwok Oi 
Ming later.  Speaking of all the stunts in the film, he joked that he 
has always been a "slow motion action actor" and said that he could 
continue to make action films with slow motion.
	Lau Ching Wan and his best partner director Wai Ka Fai worked 
together again after 9 years.  The new film in the Mainland since its 
released has already made over 400 million yuan RMB.  They were both 
pleased.  Wai Ka Fai said, "The summer competition is very strong.  I 
am already very pleased with this box office.  In addition it was the 
single day champion for several days.  I am very happy about this 
performance."  Ching Wan said, "If everyone are pleased then I am 
pleased.  For a Hong Kong film this is a pretty good phenomenon, a 
pretty good performance."  As for the Hong Kong box office, Ching Wan 
felt that it would be hard to predict as it would depend on the 
pandemic progressed in Hong Kong.  "It would depend on Hong Kong's 
pandemic numbers.  I wish the audience would go to the movies, but I 
also want everyone to watch under safe conditions!"
	Director Wai admitted that Lau Ching Wan was his favorite 
actor.  "I am very faithful, I fell in love at first sight with Ching 
Wan.  I like that he is unfathomable, after a few years he would feel 
me a new impression."  Ching Wan said that he did not accept Director 
Wai's films without looking at the script.  "When I get his call to  
talk about working together, I would stop for 4 seconds before giving 
him a response."
	Speaking of Ching Wan being in great shape, some joked that it 
was the result of Wai Ka Fai's training since he had action scenes 
galore in the film.  Wai Ka Fai said, "He really is getting 
more and more fit.  As soon he took his mark he gave a full 100 
point score.  I then made him do more and get more points!  This time 
I got 101, next time he would hand in 102 or 103 points."  Ching Wan 
said that action scenes have not scared him off.  He joked, "I have 
always been an action actor, just a slow motion action actor.  My 
action wouldn't be fast, even if I have a lot of them I wouldn't be 
fast. I don't need to be so fast.  Mr. Wai is also very clear on what 
I can and cannot do, with trust and safety I would dare to do more.  
If the audience wanted I could keep making them, but they would be 
slow motion too."
	Aside from DETECTIVE's summer release, the Ching Wan starred 
WARRIORS OF FUTURE (MING YUT JIN GEI) would also open in August.  
However SONS OF THE NEON NIGHTS (FUNG LUM FOR SHAN) has not been 
confirmed for release yet.  "I still have two more movies in stock on 
my hands.  Among them WARRIORS OF FUTURE has been arranged for an 
August summer release.  The film spent two years on special effect.  
I too am looking forward very much to watching them."  Ching Wan 
admitted that many films due to the pandemic could not confirmed their 
release date.  "However they have to wait to dock like cruise ships.  
Because they have been adrift for over two years, their time to dock 
has come."  Wai Ka Fai during the pandemic still wrote two to three 
scripts that are waiting for Mainland inspection.  The one that would 
start production sooner would also be an action film.  Perhaps he was 
already addicted to the genre.  
	In addition, Director Wai said that he has always wanted to 
make the movie version of THE GREED OF MAN (DAI SI DOI).  "I want to 
come up with THE GREED OF MAN's film version script, but I haven't had 
too many inspirations.  Instead DETECTIVE VS. SLEUTHS flooded in, so I 
made this movie first.  I would keep working on THE GREED OF MAN 
movie script, but this baby is very naughty.  It wouldn't be born so 
easily."  Would he ask Ching Wan to play the role of Fong Chin Pok 
again?  He said, "Fong Chin Pok originally is him, of course it would 
be him!"  
	Tong Yee in the film played a cop.  She had to chase after 
criminals and fired a real gun.  When she fired her first shot she 
was almost disfigured.  She said, "I fired my first shot on Temple 
Street and felt a little pain in my ear.  Actually the bullet shell 
scratched me.  I was worried about being disfigured.  I didn't know 
how much damage the bullet shell could cause."  However this accident 
has not scared away Tong Yee.  Instead she wanted to make more action 
scenes and fight people.  Tong Yee also said that in DETECTIVE she had 
a scene in which she had a chase and gun fight scenes on a ship's 
crane arm.  Even with the wires locked in she was so frightened her 
knees went weak.  Later she and Carlos Chan Ka Lok had to jump into 
the sea.  "Although we both know how to swim, at sea I was still a 
little scared.  In the end I gave the life saver for Ka Lok to hold 
onto tightly."
	Ng Ho Hong attended with his 8 month pregnant wife 
Margiela Kwok Si Lam.  Kwok Si Lam was very careful, but she said that 
the baby has been rather nice and the pregnancy has been comfortable.  
She would like a natural birth.  With the impending birth, they both 
said that they began to get nervous since it would be their first.  
Ng Ho Hong pointed out that he would accompany his wife into the 
delivery room, but worried that he would behave strangely.  He was the 
most worried about the birthing process would be very painful.  Would 
they watch a movie before the birth to relax a little?  Kwok Si Lam 
said that she has always loved to listen to ghost story and supernatural 
stories.  "I am not afraid, I used ghost stories for the baby's in 
utero lessons.  I like supernatural stuff, so we listen to ghost 
stories every night."  Friends suggested that she should not teach in 
utero like this and urged for her to listen to more Mozart or 
Beethoven's music.  Deep said, "I gave her the Bible to read, and 
played some fast songs.  I would sing to her for a little balance."  
Kwok Si Lam said that before birth she would like to eat a big pile of 
watermelon or sushi, because she planned to breast feed she would have 
to watch what she would eat.  thus she started to have more watermelon 
to remove the toxin.  As for the baby's name, Deep revealed that Papa 
would come up with a good Chinese name while he would come up with an 
English name.  However his English is not too great, he hoped to be 
able to come up with a cool English name for the baby.

* (2022/07/21) The Jennifer Yu Heung Ying starred, Ng Yu produced 
film PRETTY HEART (SUM LOI MEI) two nights ago held a premiere.  The 
story was about the educational system.  Aside from reflecting the 
gigantic challenges and various struggles local teachers and students 
had to face everyday, the film also brought out a romance between two 
natural enemies of a tutoring king and a school teacher.  The film's 
subject was the growth of adolescences, the leads with their "every 
round is hard to pass, every round we pass together" and the obstacles 
they encountered were everyday to us.  They fell and then stood up, 
helped each other.  At the same time they brought warm and touched the 
audience, giving the society ample positive energy.  Lead actress Yu 
Heung Yi this time played the school teacher.  At the premiere she 
also hoped that through the film would be able to encourage the 
students and parents and bring the education world positive energy.
	The premiere took place the night before the results of the 
Diploma of Secondary Education Examination would be announced, he 
actors prepared balloons in the shape of the number "5" that 
represented the highest score on DSE and wished each DSE test

  Bill "Tiger" Cheung is a Hong Kong film director who suffered an

  the chance comes to make a wuxia film for a dodgy backer, he leaps

  Adapted by a Korean horror title "Insane", continuing its chilly and
  mystery. A famous TV show producer Yam Chi Ho gets a chance to return
  to his pinnacle by directing a new project in a burned-out mental
  hospital where he believes there is mysterious happenings related to
  horrible spirit.

  A diary was found in the ruins, which made Yam curious about the
  experience of the diary's owner as well as the only survivor in the
  fire accident, Ng Yeuk Yan. Yam requested to interview Yan for details.

  Although the Chinese government promised that Hong Kong would
  retain separate status until 2047, in recent years the Chinese state
  has consolidated its power over the metropolis. Large-scale protests
  by the populace have been brutally suppressed. This mix of
  documentary, fiction, and visions of the future reveals the current
  state of desolate depression among the people of Hong Kong. "A
  desperate attempt to capture the final moments of a sinking island",
  as maker Chan Tze-woon himself puts it.

  In four chapters, Chan looks back at previous moments of resistance
  and revolution on the island: in 1967, 1973, and 1989. He shows how
  the activists of then are faring now. Some still burn with
  righteous fire, while others are disillusioned or have been bought
  off by the system. The past is presented in fictional scenes, with
  today's activists playing those of yesteryear. As one of the young
  demonstrators observes of her predecessor: "All the hardships he
  endured seem to be repeating in our generation."
