MISCELLANEOUS * (2019/04/03) Opening tomorrow, the anti corruption storm series' third film P STORM (P FUNG BO) would put Raymond Lam FUng in his first villain role. HE said that after 20 years in the business he finally got his wish, playing for the first the villain and a prisoner. Opposing him in the film, Chrissie Chau Sau Na said that he looked very mild mannered but his performance was a little scary. Lam Fung said, "I am a mild mannered jerk, actually the hidden danger is the horror that you can't see. However this time indeed is a lot of fun." Lam Fung said that last year he made four movies, three were very abnormal. "I played characters I haven't played before, the most fun was able to play a characters that I can't actually be in real life. However, this time the villain actually was rather overt and required method acting to perform. Mainly the film had too many characters, which made spending too much time on the background difficult. I could only stand out with the character appearance!" Would he create a new genre for himself? Lam Fung admitted that he hoped everyone would be able to accept his first time. Lam Fung said that in the film he had a lot of stunts, with Kevin Cheng Ka Wing and Chau Sau Na he had a helicopter fight scene. He had to get very rough with Sister Na, but he praised how agile she was. In the end no one got hurt. Sister Na admitted that the space was narrow and they had to accommodate the camera. The three of them were crammed into the back seats and bumps were inevitable. Lam Fung added, "Because the helicopter would move around in flight, everyone was bumping around. This time when I was asked to play a rich kid bully I thought I would have a lot of underlings, I thought that when I call a gang would rush in. I didn't expect that during the shoot I would always be the first to rush in!" Lam Fung spoke about the fight scenes with Gordon Lam Ka Tung in prison, because they only wore slippers they could easily fall. In addition in prise they had no weapon in hand and had to use fists. He felt this was inevitable because the audience now is more and more demanding about action scenes and hoped to have even more visual effects. Thus even actresses could not be spared. Sister Na also said that she thought that she would enjoy working with Cheng Ka Wing, Koo Tin Lok and Lam Fung, but in the end they went on the lam and had gun fights together. They had no way for romance. Would she like to make a real romance with several gods? Sister Na said, "I can make anything, instead I would worry working on a romantic film with gods would upset their fans. However I believe fans would understand that it is just a movie!" Speaking of the plan this year, Lam Fung said that at the end of the month he would go to the Mainland for the film BACK TO THE PAST (CHUM CHUN GEI) and play the role of Emperor Qin again. In the middle of the year he would return to TVB for a series. He would also continue his concert tours. Sister Na joked that she also saw his wet concert. Lam Fung immediately invited her to be his guest performer. Sister Na turned him down and said, "Just watching is enough for me. The audience now doesn't like wet girls!" Lam Fung said, "Being an actor is very hard now. Because he has to show off, without anything to show he has to train until he does!" Turning 40 soon, did he have any intention to start a family? Lam Fung said, "I know everyone would ask, but I still stick to that line. I don't want to switch the focus to my personal life while promoting at work, so from now on I won't share anything. I thank everyone for their concern. What I can say is at this age, wanting to get married is normal too. Yet if I have to plan I would only share it with my family. I am living very well right now!" Sister Na was smiling sweetly all along. Did she have a companion from her frequent traveling? Sister Na clarified that she went overseas for work. "Actually I was thinking, now I am single even if I am asked I can avoid the danger!" Would she be as low key as Lam Fung when she dates? She answered, "Actually whether I was dating or not everyone would still ask. Now I am single you would ask me when I would date? Whether I want to date? Do I have any suitor? When would I get married? How is the other half? So I don't know how it will be either!" However both felt that fans now are not as strict as they used to be and prohibit their idols from dating. Lam Fung also felt that actually he was confident in his film, he just did not want to rely on other gossip to attract everyone's attention. So he did not want to talk more about his love life. * (2019/04/03) The Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin and Taiwan Best Actor Wu Kang-Jen starred THE LADY IMPROPER (FEI FUN SHOO NUI) two nights ago held its premiere at the Kowloon Bay International Trade and Exhibition Center. Wu Kang-Jen said that he learned alot from Ah Sa, Ah Sa returned the favor and praised him as a great actor. Also at the premiere were Emperor Group chief Albert Yeung Sau Sing and his wife, Joey Yung Cho Yi, Gillian Chung Yun Tung, Deep Ng Ho Hong, Anthony Lau Wing, Hedwig Tam Sin Yin, Ashina Kwok Yik Sum, Michelle Wai Sze Nga, Angela Hui Ching Wan, Ken Hung Cheuk Lap, director Tsang Tsui Shan, producers Shaw Kim Chau and Yeung Bo Man. Ah Sa and Wu Kang-Jen were interviewed together. For his first Hong Kong film Wu Kang-Jen said that he did not have any pressure because he had Ah Sa there. Working with her he learned alot. "I feel the Hong Kong pace is different from Taiwan's, it's very efficiency. Ah Sa is an actor who can put people at ease. Everyday at work I had a lot of fun, I felt like I was in class. They were very professional at work." Ah Sa also agreed that Hong Kong was all about efficiency and praised Wu Kang-Jen as a great actor. "He isn't just getting a check or a lunch box, or being a star. He wants to be a great actor. (Wu Kang-Jen said that he had no pressure, would that add pressure to you?) With you here do you expect him to slam me, of course he would give praise a little." She said that she has not given herself any pressure because she has given herself too much pressure and could not do anything at all instead. The best part about growing up is having wisdom, she would think of ways to relieve stress and resolve the problem. Did she invite her boyfriend to the premiere? Ah Sa said, "No, there are so many people here. You are very smart, so you definitely would be able to find her. (You have been caught holding hands already?) That's a little careless and unlucky, in public my boyfriend would get scared. (Would you book a show later?) I don't know, maybe." Later Ah Sa posted on IG photos of her and Wu Kang-Jen at the movies. In the photo they covered up the screen with their hands. Ah Sa joked that watching their intimate scene was super awkward and she skipped past the entire scene. Joey said that earlier she wanted to buy a ticket to support Ah Sa's film, but she also wanted to wait until the premiere to watch the film to keep its freshness and mystery. Would she be able to accept the sexy performance in the film? Joey joked that her acting skill was limited. "Being sexy and making a movie are two different things, I can't. My acting is only limited to cartoons and category I films. Suddenly with difficulty this high, I can't handle it. I won't be able to act while worrying about how I look, not to mention all the tapes. I am better off sticking with my day job of singing." Ah Sa with the film was nominated for Best Actress Hong Kong Film Award. Joey said that the entire company has wagered heavily on Ah Sa's victory. The boss even booked a place to celebrate. That night she would cheer her on in front of her television, so Ah Sa would not fee any pressure. As soon as she won she would take a taxi to the celebration! * (2019/04/03) Gillian Chung Yun Tung two nights ago showed her support for her colleague Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin at THE LADY IMPROPER (FEI FUN SHOOK NUI) premiere. Ah Gil said that her husband was not in Hong Kong. Would she dare to give a sexy performance like Ah Sa? She was not opposed to it. "With a good subject I can give it a try. (Would you have to get past your husband first?) I never ask about that, it's work. I wouldn't pay him any mind. Getting a good character isn't easy, when you have the chance you have to grasp it. You can't say no at every turn, otherwise you don't have to work. (Are you afraid that after you take it your husband would object?) Since I haven't tried it, I might as well give it a try. Of course I would tell him, I wouldn't secretly do it." She admitted that her husband once asked her not to work, but she felt that she would be very bored at home. She would just play video games. Ah Gil revealed that lately she fell for a mobile phone game and each time she would spend over HK$ 700 on weapons. "After half a month I spent a lot of money, everyday I see the thousand dollar bill. I realized there is a problem. However, I am spending my own money. Today I haven't gone online yet." Her friends have discussed this problem with her, saying that if she bought a handbag she still had something actual in hand. Since she liked to play games, would she become an e-sport athlete? Ah Gil said, "Let me ask first, but the games they play are very hard. Would playing like me be OK?" * (2019/04/03) The 38th Hong Kong Film Awards will take place on April 14th at the Hong Kong Cultural Center. Every year aside from the 19 awards, the other two most eye catching awards are the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Professional Spirit Award. The event yesterday announced the recipients of the awards. Patrick Tse Yin will receive this year's Lifetime Achievement Award, while Lau Won will receive the Professional Spirit Award. Tse Yin starred in films like THE FATHERLESS SON, THE BEAU, PRINCE OF BROADCASTERS, THE PRODIGAL. His show business footsteps also witnessed the development of Hong Kong film history. Tse Yin's neither good nor bad aura that was unique in the film industry not only continued past romantic actor's tradition, his unique personal charm expanded the traditional dramatic range. With his personal charm he shaped Cantonese film classics that appeared in the late 60s. In the late 70s, he performed in many television series. His mature masculine charm was very popular on the small screen, as his character in THE SHELL GAME (1980) remained a classic today. He then returned to the silver screen and starred in CHALLENGE OF THE GAMESTER (CHIN WONG DAU CHIN BA, 1981) and was as glorious as he has always been, as he launched another chapter in his show business career. Lau Won in 1968 joined the film industry as a stuntman. In the 70s when kung fu comedy film fever rose, Lau Won with the stage name "Fish Head Won" worked on screen with offers galore. In the 90s as kung fu comedy gradually subsided, he returned to his original post as a stuntman and remained even today. After 50 years in the business he still firmly guarded his post and never said quit. He remained seriously professional as he kept elevating his skills. He even became an expert in wire stunts and received the recognition of various action directors. * (2019/04/02) The Louis Koo Tin Lok, Raymond Lam Fung, Gordon Lam Ka Tung, Chrissie Chau Sau Na, Kevin Cheng Ka Wing, Louis Cheung Kai Chung and others starred film P STORM (P FUNG BO) will open on April 4th. Two nights ago the actors attended the premiere. Boss and producer Raymond Wong Pak Ming announced the production of G STORM (G FUNG BO). The film's "soul character" Goo Jai will continue to participate. The shoot will start in August but because the content had to be kept secret no detail was known for now. First time addition to STORM, Lam Fung said that due to his busy schedule he would not have time for G STORM. He also said that the most memorable in P STORM was fighting in slippers in prison. Another scene of strangling Sister Na in the narrow space of a helicopter was also difficult! Lam Fung and Sister Na spoke to the media together. Lam Fung said that the film had many fight scenes. The most memorable was the 20 to 30 person gang fight in prison. Because they could easily slip and fall in slippers, everyone fought on the ground in the end. In other scene he held Chau Sau Na hostage in a helicopter. Sister Na said, "Because of the narrow space in the helicopter, he was afraid of hurting me. He actually suffered just as much from how hard he was strangling me, he had a tougher time than me." Speaking of G STORM, Lam Fung said, "I probably won't make it, because later I will have to work on BACK TO THE PAST (CHUM CHUN GEI) and LINE WALKER 3 (SI TOH HUNG JEH 3). In addition this time the character already has a perfect ending. Currently I still have a movie and three series that have not yet been released. Probably even more work will appear later. I hope I can work even harder. (To reclaim what you lost?) Actors are passive, everything depends on fate. (Are you too busy to prepare for a wedding?) Thank you for your concern, only big box office success is good. During the promotion I don't want to talk about my personal life. (Will you make an announcement after the wedding?) I will let it take its natural course, I won't say anything more." When asked about G STORM, Goo Jai said that he has heard about it but would have to keep the content under wraps. In P STORM Ka Tung and Lam Fung would team up against Goo Jai. Ka Tung said, "I would order my subordinates to hit Goo Jai, I wouldn't do it myself." Goo Jai admitted that this time was the most difficult in the entire film series because he had to take on two gangs alone. Sammi Cheng Sau Man was ailing but still attended the earlier Hong Kong Performing Artist Guild charity event to support president Goo Jai. "I texted to console her. When I learned from the news that she only had a sip of soup the entire night, how could I not call her right away? At first I thought she wouldn't make it, Wa Jai also came despite his film shoot. I really am very grateful to them." Has Goo Jai be ill at work? "No, my digestive system has always been decent so I very rarely feel ill. However it is more convenient for guys to go. I am used to not eating at work. I often don't eat for 24 hours straight, but I would have no strength for fight scenes. At work I would forget about hunger, my appetite isn't big anyway. I can eat once every two to three hours after work." Ka Tung said that he was afraid of going to strange bathrooms so at work he would try to fast. He did not want to take the risk. Actors have to be able to withstand hunger and endure. Reporters joked that they had special powers. Ka Tung said, "I have thought about donating my body to science. When people die ashes to ashes and dust to dust, I might as well do something for medical science. (Are you afraid of being molested?) I have to be able to feel it first!" Goo Jai agreed with the move as contribution to the next generation. * (2019/04/02) The Tian Zhuangzhuang produced, new director Bai Xue directed, new actors Huang Xiao, Sun Yang, Carmen Tong and veteran actors Liu Kai Chi and Elena Kong Mei Yee starred THE CROSSING (GOR CHUN TIN) was selected for the 43th Hong Kong International Film Festival New Talent Film Competition (Chinese) segment. Yesterday at the award ceremony, first time lead actress Huang Xiao even won Best Actress! Famous Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Ka Fai said before the award, "A girl who was born in Foshan and raised in Beijing can actually play a Shenzhen Hong Kong commuting female high school students so outstandingly." Huang Xiao after accepting the award from Leung Ka Fai also shook hands with other jury members director Jiang Wen and famous Taiwan producer Peggy Chiao. Huang Xiao thanked the event and her character Pei Pei for bringing her Director Bai Xue and all of her co-stars in the film. She said that she will keep on working hard. Huang Xiao earlier with this character received the Hong Kong Asian Film Award Best New Performer and the Pingyao International Film Festival Best Actress. THE CROSSING earlier made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and was selected for the Berlin International Film Festival Generation segment. The film will open in Hong Kong on May 9th. * (2019/04/02) The late superstar "Gor Gor" Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing on April 1st 2003, April Fool's Day jumped from the Hong Kong Mandarin Oriental Hotel and ended his short life. Although Gor Gor has already passed for 16 years, his fans have only missed him more. Over the years they have been remembering him in different formats. "Gor Gor's" beloved Daffy Tong Hok Tak every year would eulogize his late love. Tong Tong on social media posted a photo of him and Gor Gor in their youth and quoted two verses from Gor Gor's classic song WIND CONTINUES TO BLOW, "Many happy memories of the past, why not chase them with you". Inside were information about and photos of Gor Gor. Many fans waited in line for the attraction. Around 6:43 PM when Gor Gor jumped, instead of the moment of silence near the Jardine House events took place at Edinburgh Place. Videos of Gor Gor singing were shown. Almost 400 fans held candle shaped lights. Despite the lack of a moment of silence, the remembrance of Gor Gor never changed. Then the evening would continue with performances by Gary Tam Wai Kuen and street singer Judas. * (2019/04/02) April 1st was the 16th anniversary of "Gor Gor" Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing's passing. Director Oliver Chan Siu Kuen and Anthony Wong Chau Sun attended. They liked to interact with the audience and have close contact; Chan Siu Kuen pointed out that even with the audience's pointed questions, with Chau Sun there they definitely would be answered. She also remembered, "A foreign girl said that her grandpa also was wheel chair bound, then hug me and cried. I got teary eyed too." Speaking of Eason Chan Yik Shun catching a student on the phone at an university forum, feeling disrespected and asking the student to leave, Chau Sun said that he would calmly handle it. "It would depend on the situation, on whether others were affected. Now everyone is like this. If it was me, I would join in with a mobile phone and compete for a hour. No one needs to get upset. I would ask him, 'You are doing big business, do you have billions going up and down? How is the market trending? Give me some tips?' The person would be embarrassed and everyone would get a laugh." * (2019/03/31) The film SHOCK WAVE 2 (CHAK DAN JUEN GA 2) two nights ago shot a bomb disposal scene at Temple Street. Andy Lau Tak Wa, Sean Lau Ching Wan, Ron Ng Cheuk Hei and others were on hand, as prop police cars, fire engines, ambulances and bomb disposal vehicles were parked on the streets. Although the crew was prepared to pretend onlookers from affecting the shoot, with over 100 people crowd control was not easy. Tourists with mobile phones kept shooting and could not wait to share on social media, saying that running into stars on Temple Street was the biggest reward of their Hong Kong trip. From the video, Lau Tak Wa and Lau Ching Wan had escort from the crew as onlookers cheered excitedly. Wa Jai and Ching Wan also politely waved and smiled at fans. * (2019/03/31) The Hong Kong Performing Artist Guild founded Performing Artist Guild Charity last night held its first charity event 2019. He said that because this was the first time for the event, the donation target would be rather reasonable. The Performing Artist Guild president Koo Tin Lok would like to unite the power of show business and lead everyone in caring of those in needs in the community and continue on the charitable work generation after generation. Goo Jai said that earlier the Guild has already received a charity certification from the government. Last night donations were raised through table sales, the event had 43 tables and the theme was passing the torch. He said, "In order to coordinate with the theme, earlier we asked 7 or 8 elder artists like Sister Ka Yin, Sister Mo and interviewed them about their effort and contribution in the business over the years, so the next generation would know about their past." Goo Jai also said that in recent years many elder artists have either passed away or fallen ill. The Guild also recorded their videos to honor them for their contributions to the industry. In addition, in order to help members with more job opportunities the Guild also officially launched a mobile phone app for members to upload their information online and introduce themselves, so advertising clients, film companies and others would be able to contact them. When asked if the donation target was ideal, Goo Jai said, "Because it was the first year for the event, it was rather reasonable. Everyone went through a lot of trouble for the event, thanks to friends and film companies for their support the donations reached a very ideal number." As for performances, Goo Jai said aside from elder artists' videos, Joey and the Grasshoppers would sing. Ng Kwan Yu and Chin Kar Lok would also bring back CLUB SPARKLE on the stage to entertain everyone. Speaking of Yen Chi Tan being discriminated against during a charity event, Goo Jai said that their event would take great care of guests. Ko Hoi Ning said that she brought her dress for awhile now but never had the chance to wear it. In addition she was busy with a television series so she did not have time to dress up. She only relied on her own make up. "I know the evening's theme is related to future, I also saw STAR WARS Storm Troopers here. The usher ladies were also dressed very sci fi. I really like themed events. I want to wear clothing that would be form fitting and plastic, the impression would be very sci fi." Ko Hoi Ning also said that she did not have enough experience to be invited to join the Performing Artist Guild. She was the most concerned with after becoming a member would she have more chances to make movies. Speaking of the Guild's mobile phone app that helps members with self promoting, Ko Hoi Ning was very excited. "I have to immediately download and apply to join the Guild. I will also tell my company colleagues." Guest performers Yung Cho Yi and the Grasshoppers spoke to the media together. Joey joked that Goo Jai asked them veteran to lead new comers, so she would "rock and roll" with a new band. The Grasshoppers would dance and sing with MIRROR. Speaking of Joey's August concerts, Remus Choy Yat Kit helped and offered producer Ho Bing to her in order to make them happen. Joey apologized to Kit Jai and said that everyone knew that he loved her. How would she repay Kit Jai? Kit Jai chimed in and answered that he would ask Joey for concert tickets. Joey said, "Any row you want." Kit Jai said, "I want front row." Joey said, "Facing me I really have to surrender." Would she invite the Grasshoppers to be her guest performers? The Grasshoppers said that they wanted to enjoy the show, Joey suggested for them to watch one show and perform in another. When asked how many shows the concert series would have, Joey revealed that 12 shows for now. She did not know whether more shows will be added. The Grasshoppers then sang Joey's hit DON'T KNOW. * (2019/03/30) The "Storm" series's latest film P STORM (P FUNG BO) will open on April 4th in Hong Kong and Mainland. Earlier actors Kevin Cheng Ka Wing, Raymond Lam Fung, Gordon Lam Ka Tung, Chrissie Chau Sau Na, Patrick Tam Yiu Man, Janelle Sing (Xia Yan) and Adam Pak Tin Nam went to Shanghai for an event. Lam Ka Tung was asked why he did not have any kiss scene in the film. Ka Tung said that it would be very hard for both sexes to be in the same prison. Ka Wing poked fun at the single Koo Tin Lok, "The next one can add a romance for him! Then he can date a little!" 1,000 people filled the venue and passionately cheered the actor. Lam Fung said, "This time I experienced the might of the 'Storm series' at the 1,000 people event. It was very cheerful and I also sensed the viewers' passionate anticipation for this film."

Lam Fung pointed out that P STORM was his first film villain role as his first film with the big "Storm" family. He hoped to be able to leave the audience with a deep impression. New father Ka Wing kept receiving congratulations for his wedding, but he said, "The wedding happened last year." The audience again wished his baby good health. New papa Ka Wing accepted all the well wishes and could not hide his joy! Ka Tung made his return since the first STORM film. His performance was memorable to viewers, but when asked why he did not have any kiss scene in the film Ka Tung said that it was very hard to have both sexes in the same prison. Ka Wing even made fun of Koo Tin Lok. "The next one can add a romance for him, so he can date a little!" Sister Na revealed that different actors took turns to "treat" during the shoot so she got fatter too! Ka Tung, Lam Fung and Ka Wing shared a lot with viewers in Shanghai. Viewers' passion and attentiveness were just as memorable for them. Ka Tung said, "They would ask about many details of the film, the questions are very detailed. They would even ask which hand we would use to hit people." Ka Wing agreed. "They would analyze the characters' thinking and would ask us what we did was because of such thinking. We are very happy that they are so detailed, imagining what we did for 90 points to 110 points. If we did less we would very easily be caught! In comparison this was also the encouragement that they gave us." In the end the team went to a shopping center to play games with the audience. They not only easily guessed Shanghai cuisine but also learned the Shanghai dialect with tips from the live audience. They also wished that after the film's release viewers would passionately support it. * (2019/03/30) Artist Elena Kong Mei Yee two nights ago promoted the film THE CROSSING (GOR CHUN TIN). She revealed that it was her first Mainland film and working with a group of new actors. She praised the talent of everyone as they knew their characters and content. "Although the entire film was shot in Shenzhen and my part only lasted a few days, everyone had a lot of fun." Playing the Hong Kong parallel import Big Sister, she said that parallel import was nothing new to Hong Kong people. Normally she also bought parallel import sneakers and handbags. "When I was little Mommy told me to parallel import a Walkman to Taiwan for a relative, from which I made a little money. This used to be legal!" * (2019/03/30) Ronald Cheng Chung Kei yesterday attended a Hong Kong University forum with the them "sense of humor. Earlier when Eason Chan Yik Shun was at an Open University events he got mad when students only paid attention to their phones. He felt disrespected and invited those students to leave. Ronald said that he would play along with the students and if they had anything happy they must share it. He absolutely would not invite them to leave! Speaking of work, Ronald revealed that he just finished the film ELISA'S DAY (WAI OI) and in May he will begin his concert tour. In September he will work on DRAGON LOADED 3 (LUNG GUM WAI 3). Because he complained, his wife was studying cooking. He said, "I didn't complain, but her cooking improved a lot. A lot of stuff is very delicious. She can tie down my stomach and make me fat, because in DRAGON LOADED 3 I will have to gain a dozen or so pounds. Last time I gained 30 pounds so this time won't be too hard." * (2019/03/29) On April 1st this year, "Gor Gor" Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing has passd away for 16 years. The faithful Japanese "Gor" fans already began to prepare to fold origami cranes for "Gor Gor" since the beginning of the year and chose "Gor Gor"'s favorite red and the always shining gold as the main color theme. "Gor" fans in Japan after getting the news folded origami cranes and sent them to the Tokyo headquarter. Because "Gor" fans all participated on their own, the planners did not set any limit. Thus at first they had no idea how many cranes were made. When the Japanese "Gor" fan who was responsible for connecting all the cranes counted, something wonderful happened. The number of cranes was actually 1,339! "339" to "Gor" fans was an extremely meaningful number. This was "Gor Gor's" license plate number. Even more wonderful was, each "Gor" fan who participated in the counting that day had a "339" license plate as well! * (2019/03/29) "Ant-Man" Paul Rudd, along with Marvel Studio chief Kevin Feige and director Peyton Reed attended the launch of the ANT-MAN AND THE WASP NANO BATTLE ride at the Hong Kong Disneyland. Jessica Hester Hsuan (Suen Huen) became the first Asian artist in the Marvel ride as the new character, SHIELD engineer Leslie. How did it feel to be Asia's first artist to be a character in the ride? Suen Huen happily said, "I am a Marvel fan, now my identity has switched. Seeing myself standing on the same side as Ant-Man and the Wasp against the evil forces of Arnim Zola and his nano bug army, my excitement and honor truly is beyond any description. I have looked forward to its for several months. Today I finally played the game and felt that the intense stimulation to visual and audio senses is awesome. In the film I had to keep fight, my arms are a little tired. I asked to play again many times." * (2019/03/29) The film SHOCK WAVE 2 (CHAK DAN JUEN GA 2) yesterday held a production start worship ceremony. Boss Daneil Lam Siu Ming, stars Andy Lau Tak Wa, Sean Lau Ching Wan, Ni Ni, Tse Kwan Ho, Philip Keung Ho Man, Kenny Wong Tak Bun, Ron Ng Cheuk Hei and Zhang Yang participated. Lau Tak Wa and Lau Ching Wan would work together again after 17 years. They showed off their chemistry and led the "team members" on an "egg disposal" mission. The actors had to differentiate between raw and cooked eggs just by looking. Wa Jai joked that anyone who was able to find a raw egg would get double salary. Wa Jai and Ching Wan both ended up finding raw eggs. Ching Wan screamed, "My salary has been doubled! My salary has been doubled!" Wa Jai said, "Actors really are naive, but the boss confirmed it!" Wa Jai said that the ending of SHOCK WAVE won the tears of the audience. This time Lau Ching Wan and Ni Ni joined in the all new story. Wa Jai and Ching Wan worked together again 17 years after FAT CHOI SPIRIT (LEK GOO LEK GOO SUN NIN CHOI). Ching Wan said that it felt like yesterday, now they are together again on a movie. Wa Jai also said that every Lunar New Year FAT CHOI SPIRIT would be on television, so everyone felt that it was not so long ago. This time Wa Jai and Ching Wan were two bomb disposal experts of two different teams. Wa Jai revealed that the film still would have car chases, running and jumping around. The director was rather careful during the shoot. Just a going upstairs scene took eight shots to shoot. As for Ni Ni, this would be her first Hong Kong film and her co-stars would be two Best Actors. She admitted that in the beginning she was particularly nervous and stressed. After two table reads she realized that they were very friendly and helped her like one. They also taught her how to hold a gun. Playing an anti terrorist special police team member, Ni Ni would have many stunts and gun fights. She would also develop a relationship with Wa Jai. Ching Wan said, "The two of them are romancing, but I would be arguing with Ni Ni!" In addition Wa Jai just announced successfully landing the Hong Kong Coliseum dates for February next year. He said, "Please give me some peace, I would tell everyone later. Because over 40,000 to 50,000 make up show tickets had to be taken care off, I would have to find places to distribute them and study the dates for shows and ticket exchanges. However the online registration is already very clear, everyone can go and see." How many shows will he perform? He said 10 shows for now. "At least 7 will be make up shows, the rest will satisfy public on sale. If I rest a little less then I can perform more!" Wa Jai admitted that he was very happy to successfully land the make up show dates. He even invited Ching Wan and Ni Ni to attend the show. Ching Wan followed up, "Can I get a few more tickets. I am afraid of missing out?" Ni Ni also happily said, "Do you have VIP tickets?" Wa Jai agreed to all their demands. Speaking of old flame William Feng Shaofeng being already married and a father, did Ni Ni congratulate him? She said, "I can congratulate him in private, it doesn't have to be anything!" Was she dating? Wa Jai said, "She is in love with me (in the movie)!" Ni Ni said that work would come first. Wong Tak Bun and Ng Cheuk Hei played bomb disposal experts on Lau Ching Wan's team. Earlier Tak Bun accidentally smashed Chow Yun Fat's head with hair spray. What would he use this time and who would he hit? Tak Bun joked, "This time I am using a suitcase, even more damaging. However this time many people would hit him, anyone who is Fat Gor's friends can hit me and I would take it. Just don't hit me in the face!" Ng Cheuk Hei added, "If he is shot, I won't save him. I don't want people to think I am an accomplice!" Ng Cheuk Hei said that after collecting Best Actor Lau Ching Wan this time, his collection would be successfully completed. Tak Bun also said that it was the first time he worked with Ching Wan. He and Ng Cheuk Hei were his subordinates, making expressions while watching him disposing bombs and learning from him. However in the scene Tak Bun had to be shot in a terrorist attack. Also under contract with Universe, Zhang Yang took part in the first and would have a part in the second film. This time he would play Lau Ching Wan's subordinate. At first she felt very nervous and honored, on the set he was very helpful to her and would rehearse together. She also learned a lot. Tse Kwan Ho had a fresh and new bu somewhat evil look with white hair. He said that in the film he believed that he was a good guy but did a lot of bad things. * (2019/03/29) The Stanley Kwan Kam Peng directed film FIRST NIGHT NERVES (BAK GOR NUI YUN YUT TOI HEI) two nights ago held its 43rd Hong Kong International Film Festival premiere. Then the director led actors Sammi Cheng Sau Man, Gigi Leung Wing Kei, Bai Baihe, Angie Chiu Nga Chi, Sheung Tin Ngor and Catherine Chau Ka Yi attended the premiere party. Since 2004's EVERLASTING REGRET (CHEUNG HUNG GOR), Kwan Kam Peng directed again after 15 years and the lead actress was still Sammi. Director Kwan said, "Time went by so fast but didn't feel long at all. Working with Sammi this time, I feel that she has become another person. She is relaxed, and the character required experience for the performance. She did very well." Sammi said that working with Kwan Kam Peng again, she admitted that she was not nervous. Instead she felt that everyone changed for the better, which gave her an even easier time and more confidence. Director Kwan also praised Gigi for changing a lot after marriage, and was just as relaxed. Sammi also said that she will soon begin closed door training for her concerts, but she still would have to recover from her knee injury and would not be able to make big moves like jumping and running. The doctor said that she would need two months for a full recovery. For now she would train the upper body first. She was very optimistic that she would be able to reach her goal then. Speaking of how hard her concert tickets were to get, Gigi asked Sammi, "Don't cut me out of my 100 tickets!" Sammi joked, "I will print them for you myself." Earlier Sammi posted a "tea ceremony" photo on social media and some mistook it for her wedding photo. Some also said that her and husband Andy Hui Chi On's smiles were stiff. Sammi explained that actually it was the wedding of a relative's offspring. Perhaps everyone missed what she wrote under the photo. Would she consider sharing her wedding photo? She said, "No one wants to see them." Gigi said, "I do." Sammi joked, "I can WeChat them to you." Speaking of her awkward smile in the photo, she said, "Actually at the time I was very moved inside, but I couldn't express it right away. My face was stiff. After the ceremony I immediately smiled again, I was moved because I have become an elder and had to give lai see." Mainland star Bai Baihe in the film played a more masculine character. She said that the character differed greatly from her past ones. She could only observe how people around her protect girls. Was the performance difficult? She admitted that the hardest was the Cantonese lines, which she thought were very hard and after the shoot she completely forgot them. In addition, when asked if she had any contact with her former husband Chen Yufan, she said, "I have no comment for anything not related to the film." Then she turned and left. * (2019/03/28) Karena Ng Chin Yu worked on a wedding series photo shoot for a diamond jewelry brand. Last year she also made new attempts at acting as she worked on a women's prison film with Gillian Chung Yun Tung, Chrissie Chau Sau Na and others. This time she challenged a vicious female prisoner role and had many fight scenes, as she tried to shake off her good girl image. She said that it was a lot of fun and she looked forward to the audience's response after the release.

In the second half of 2019 she will continue to put her career first, as she hoped to run into even more good opportunities. * (2019/03/28) The film HELL BANK PRESENTS: RUNNING GHOST (MING TUNG NGAN HUNG DUK YEUK FAN SUN JUNG BA JIN) yesterday shot a big scene at the Yuen Long Studio. Actors Wong Yau Nam, Cecilia So Lai Shan, Ben Yuen Fu Wa, Zeno Koo Ting Hin and boss Ha Yu participated. The scene also had 100 extras. Wong Yau Nam revealed that the film would be about a human ghost romance. In the studio a hell set was constructed. Yesterday a group of ghosts were in competition. In the film he would also have a series of stuns. Although he was sweating bullets, he has been in training so he was able to handle it. So Lai Shan this time would play a medium who by chance drew in Yau Nam. As they would help each other they would develop a human ghost romance. Because of that, they would have no intimate scene except a little "hand touching". Thus before the shoot she did not need to inform her boyfriend. Yuen Fu Wa with Koo Ting Hin only had one scene together. They both had to be on the wire for a stunt for the first time. Yuen Fu Wa joked that he was hung to fly 3 to 4 meters onto a tree, which was a lot of fun. Speaking of the upcoming Hong Kong Film Awards, Yuen Fu Wa has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor. He said that he had confidence but it did not mean that he would definitely win. "The competition is very strong, just Uncle Chi (Liu Kai Chi) alone is enough competition. I hope that everyone would win because everyone contributed a lot of hard work. Unfortunately the standard only permits one winner. I would just treat it normally!" [ BLAH OF THE WEEK ] Columns, Reviews, Interviews 1. TA KUNG PAO, MARCH 28 2019, EAST AND WEST FILM WE ARE LEGENDS: BROTHERS GROWING UP IN MMA "In Ring Duel" has always been a popular subject for the silver screen. Whether it is the martial art sparring in Chinese films or the fights in Europe and America, similar stories have appeared time and time again. However the most dramatic in ring duel in this writer's memory is not a fictional film story, but the real life contest between boxing champion Ali and Japanese wrestler Antonio Inoki. Two different fighting style did not set off any spark in the ring but instead almost a theater of the absurd of you hitting me and I hitting you......decades later, the mixed martial arts competition is no longer entertainment but an official professional contest. The ring has always become a metal cage, the so-called "enter the iron cage" means getting into the ring. - HUNG KWONG The film WE ARE LEGENDS (YUP TEET LUNG) actually is a story about growing up. Two brothers in the orphanage, Jack and Rabbit, is adopted by orphanage worker Lui Sir but ends up on the streets. They can only rely on Lady Lui and stay in her gym. After growing up, Jack competes in matches big and small and has an undefeated record. His goal is to participate in a professional mixed martial arts fights. Rabbit is terrible at school but passionate about underground fights, as he becomes what the internet calls "King of thug fights". The brothers turned against each other due to the underground fights, until the older one successfully enters a professional match but is knocked out in his first fight in twenty seconds. In order to protect the growing gym, the younger brother is forced to compete for his brother. He not only relies on training but also a natural fighting sixth sense, as the saying goes "precision beats capability, opportunity beats speed"...... Inspired By Actual Fighters This film's inspiration came from a certain real life fighter, but the story of the brothers growing up was miles apart from reality. Whether their childhood in the orphanage (even a homeless employee can adopt two children?), the film still imitates ring classic stereotypes like ROCKY and UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN) as lower class characters (the brothers are in trucking and package delivery) with their amateur training challenges the professional team of their opponents. They still remain as flimsy as the 80s and 90s Hong Kong film, even several key characters do not receive a lot of screen time for depiction. This film puts its efforts into the fighting itself. Leads Edward Ma Chi Wai, Lam Yiu Sing, Wiyona Yeung Lau Ching pump themselves up with training (although still quite far from UNBEATABLE's Nick Cheung Ka Fai), make various preparations before the race, the enduring weight reduction problem, if they do not make weight how they would rely on "dehydration" in the final moment to do it? How the honest Jack is full of confidence in front of his opponent and the media also becomes a part of the match. If both sides are courteous the match would hardly be attractive to the audience, thus since Ali "arrogant" fighters have been numerous. As for professional wrestling matches, athletes play good and bad guys regularly. Rabbit in the match does not forget to entertain the internet fans......ultimately, the writers and the director work very hard to show the "entertainment" side of the fight, not just how to beat the opponent. Action Scenes Did All Their Homework Yet WE ARE LEGEND remains a film that focuses on fighting. Aside from the brothers being trained in boxing since childhood, the film actually puts more focus on the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu style that not only uses fists and kicks but also locks and grips of jiu jitsu as a part of the feature fight. On the other hand, the leads talk about jiujitsu all the time and become the source of comedic material for the two. In the end aside from the main plot, the lead actress also has to display her jiujitsu skills and makes the entire film look like a Brazilian jiujitsu product placement. Such handling would remind people of Chang Cheh films of the past, which featured a fight performance that had nothing to do with the story in the beginning of the film. Aside from Brazilian jiujitsu, the entire mixed martial arts sport including Japan's "shooto" matches product placement reminds people even more of the traditional Hong Kong film format. The story may have a lot of holes but the action does all of its homework. The film is also able to capture some grass root lifestyle (not turning away smokers and drinkers, not the Muslim style or Spartan training). In recent years new directors work hard between movies that depict the disenfranchised and have something to say and those literary youth romance. Daniel Chan Yee Heng's WE ARE LEGENDS is action driven, but its pursuit for fun seemingly is fun in itself. 2. TA KUNG PAO, MARCH 28 2019, LIGHT SHADOW PATH HONG KONG FILM MUST LOOK AHEAD During the Hong Kong Film and Television Market several film companies' representatives expressed their opinions about the future and what directions they would go, some were veteran producers and some were executives who joined the film industry from other areas. Although they each spoke their minds, the more experienced ones were more able to state where the problems lay and the directions in the future. FIrst, Hong Kong film industry's problem is a talent shortage. Although in recent years many new directors have appeared, the gap of over a decade could not be filled as the industry generational disconnect remained. On camera, some actresses held their own, while most actors remained between age 50 and 60 something as the young ones have not yet reached ripeness. Some opinions claimed that Hong Kong filmmakers could through investments and other production experience help China with its film development. Actors and directors could contribute to Chinese films. Such opinions have their validity, but the level has already been reduced much more. Speaking of financing and market understanding, Mainland companies are better than Hong Kong companies. As for Hong Kong directors, only a few are popular in the Mainland unlike over a decade ago. Several recent films have proven that Hong Kong actors' box office draw is not what it used to be. Thus, in the currently highly competitive Mainland Chinese market, it is an indisputable fact that Hong Kong filmmakers' advantages have been drastically reduced. Another "antiquated" opinion is Hong Kong filmmakers can distribute Mainland films overseas or in Hong Kong. Most Mainland and Hong Kong co-production films, if they mainly star Mainland actors, might not perform too well at the box office and revenue naturally would not be too high. Thus citing the Hong Kong market as a distribution example is very humorous. In addition North America no longer have a video market, leaving only pay television and the internet. Chinese film revenue is very limited. The two aforementioned opinions did not come from experienced filmmakers because they are outdated cliches. As time continues to match on, Mainland films do not need our help. Any talk about helping them to participate in film festivals is even stranger, as news of Mainland films' overseas awards can often be heard. The lack of award winning Hong Kong films in recent years is an indisputable fact. The problem Hong Kong film has to resolve is a talent issue, then it is how to merge with the Mainland market or national policy to make its advantages stand out. The Greater Bay Area aside from Hong Kong and Macau has nine other cities, with a population that is ten times that of Hong Kong. The Guangdong province often is the highest box office area. If Hong Kong films can be expanded (including co-productions and small scale productions) in the Greater Bay Area market it would be a huge opportunity. Thus, veteran filmmakers suggested hope for the government to work toward this area and examine with the Greater Bay Area whether there would be any new standards, including subjects, inspection and language (Cantonese). If the discussion results would be positive, they would be even more helpful to the area merger. Such suggestions are actual ideas of looking ahead and not outdated cliche. - TIN LIK [ In Production Now/Soon ] ELISA'S DAY Can : Wai Oi Lit : Leftover Love AKA : Chong Hoi Wai Oi AKA : Love Left At Sea d. Left behind in all of the murders is a series of baffling numbers – a possible hint as to the next crime – that sets off an investigation to uncover the identity of a serial murderer. Kosuke Nitta of the Metropolitan Police Department Investigation Division deciphers the numbers and believes the location of the next offense will occur at the Hotel Cortesia in Tokyo. The police decide to investigate from within the Hotel Cortesia and Nitta is assigned to investigate posing as a clerk at its front desk. Selected to train Nitta in the ways of working at the hotel is their first-rate clerk Naomi Yamagishi. Nitta has focused himself on unveiling the "masks" of the hotel guests and to discover who the killer is. However, Naomi sees her priority to be with that of the guests' comfort and safety. Butting heads constantly due to their differing opinions, Nitta and Yamagishi forge on with the investigation, eventually discovering each other's worth as, over time, a trust is built between them. Captain KO gets intel about an international drug deal and embarks on a risky undercover mission with his entire team. In order to establish around-the-clock and up-close-and-personal surveillance, the team takes over a rundown chicken joint across the street from the drug gang’s safe house. But things take an unexpected turn when Detective MA’s yet unrevealed culinary talents begins to shine, turning the chicken restaurant famous overnight. Should we chase chickens or criminals? When customers begin to flock in, undercover work gets pushed to the back burner so the detectives can focus on frying chicken. As a result, the team misses the big drug deal, even though it happens right under their nose. Now, with nowhere to go, the detectives launch a desperate mop-up operation. ------ GLOBAL CHINESE MUSIC CHART For the week starting March 30 2019 15 HALF IS ME Can : Yut Boon Si Ngor Chen Linong (Chan Lap Nung) https://youtu.be/Tqk1HR0b1j0 14 SHAPING Can : Sok Jo Nicholas Tse Ting Fung Feat.
