* (2019/03/20) Louis Koo Tin Lok's "One Cool Film" yesterday held its film 
showcase at the Hong Kong International Film and Television Market and 
announced many films that would start production this year.  They 
included WARRIORS OF FUTURE (MING YUT JIN GEI), BACK TO THE PAST (CHUM 
CHUN GEI), WITNESS OUT OF THE BLUE (FAN JUI YIK CHEUNG), ON YOUR MOM, 
GET SET, GO! (MA MA DIK SUN KEI SIU JI), REMEMBER WHAT I FORGOT (DIN YING 
CHI HON), STORM CLOUD (FUNG WON), WHERE IT ALL BEGINS (GAI DAN JAI), A 
LIFE OF PAPERS (JI PEI POR POR), SECRET DIARY OF A MOM-TO-BE (BABY FOOK 
SAU GEI), TRIER OF FACT (SAU KYUT JEH), STAR DUST (SING CHUN), THE WAY 
WE KEEP DANCING (KONG MO PAI 3) and LINE WALKER 3 (SI TOH HUNG JEH 3).
	Yesterday actors, producers and directors including Koo Tin Lok,
Sean Lau Ching Wan, Carina Lau Ka Ling, Sandra Ng Kwan Yu, Jessica Hester 
Hsuan (Suen Huen), Raymond Lam Fung, Sonija Kwok Sin Nei, Joyce Tung Lai 
Ming, Annie Liu (Lau Sum Yau), Gordon Lam Ka Tung, Philip Keung Ho Man, 
Louis Cheung Kai Chung, Fiona Sit Hoi Kei, Andy Tien (On Chi Kit) and Dada 
Chan Jing attended the press conference.  At the event Goo Jai and BACK TO 
THE PAST actors Suen Huen, Lam Fung, Michelle Saram (Suet Yi), Kwok Sin 
Nei and Tung Lai Ming shared their experience.  Goo Jai said, "At first 
I didn't think about the original team.  Since the series was made in 
2000, many wanted us back together for  the movie.  In the end I still 
feel I have to use the original team."
	Suen Huen pointed out that when she found about the movie she 
was already happy for several years.  "Finally the day I have been 
waiting for is here.  Many people are more excited than me, so there is 
no room for error."  Kwok Sin Nei said, "STEP INTO THE PAST was a very 
important to me because it was my first work.  Thank you very much to Boss 
Koo for me being able to make the film version."  Suet Yi pointed out that 
she has not seen this group of friends in many years.  This was a rare 
chance and they would be able to catch up.  Tung Lai Ming said, "Because 
Boss Koo told me about all the fighting, he scared me.  I hope we would 
pay more for doubles."  Lam Fung said that he heard Goo Jai talk about 
this script a long time ago, but each time he saw him Goo Jai would say 
that the script had changes.
	Later Goo Jai with Lau Ching Wan and Lau Ka Ling introduced the 
540 million scienece fiction epic WARRIORS OF FUTURE (MING YUT JIN GEI).  
In the film Earth was no longer inhabitable due to pollution.  The film 
needed even more long for special effects.  Goo Jai said that the first 
time I was at the set he was in awe and excited, because it had actual 
sets for some bases and collapsed buildings.  Actually Hong Kong people 
could achieve a very large scale film.  As for the investment amount this 
time, Goo Jai said, "It is also very shocking!"  Ching Wan said that 
during the shoot he had to wear a 30 pound armor.  Did he get hurt?  He 
joked, "I didn't get hurt, you can see how real my face look, no CG, but 
I heard Goo Jai got hurt because he was the boss."
	Later Goo Jai, Suen Huen and Lam Fung talked about this year 
"One Cool" would make more movies than Media Asia and Emperor.  Goo Jai 
said, "As long as the movie is good and sincere, film companies need to 
invest.  I want to innovate more and have more domestic subjects.  
(Ching Wan joked that your wallet suffered heavy casualty?)  No no no, 
nothing like that.  Movies should be made.  (How much did you invest on 
movies this year?)  You have ask the film company."  He also revealed 
that BACK TO THE PAST (CHUM CHUN GEI) will soon start production.  The 
film will be a continuation of the television version.  Has his role in 
another film STORM CLOUD (FUNG WON) been confirmed?  Goo Jai said, "It 
will have some new character additions."
	Ka Ling and Ching Wan boht said that they have never worked on a 
science fiction film before, so they were excited and looked forward to 
it.  In the film Ka Ling played a military officer.  She said that the 
toughest was remembering all the micro organism and military terms.  The 
director had to explain them to her as they shot.  Would they plan to help 
Goo Jai break out of Asia with this film?  Ka Ling asked, "Isn't he 
already out of Asia?  I thought he broke ou a long time ago."  Ching Wan 
said that his first science fiction film felt very fresh.
	Ng Kwan Yu would produce and star in ON YOUR MOM, GET SET, GO!  
(MA MA DIK SUN KEI SIU JI), which was based on the Paralympics gold medal 
track athlete So Wah Wai's story. Would Kwan Yu play So Wah Wai's mother?  
She said, "I haven't played a mother role, not to mention So Wah Wai's 
mother.  How could I have So Wah Wai, my daughter is only 12.  It's very 
hard."  She pointed out that So Wah Wai's mother still has not been cast 
as she urged anyone interested to give it a try.
	Would she ask So Wah Wai to perform?  Kwan Yu said that for now 
she has not yet contacted So Wah Wai, which would be one of the things to 
consider.  She might also recruit an actor.  The film would be an "One 
Cool Film" investment.  Did she have any difficulty to get Koo Tin Lok to 
invest?  She said, "My GOLDEN CHICKENSSS (GUM GAI SSS) was also Mr. Koo 
invested.  He and I have already established trust and I made money for 
him.  So with a phone call to ask him for money, he very quickly said, 
'fine'."  She said that the film is slated to start production in the 
second half of the year.  She said that she did not know what role she 
would play.  She might ask Andy Lau Tak Wa for help.

* (2019/03/20) Gillian Chung Yun Tung, Karena Ng Chin Yu, Janice Yan, 
Raymond Wong Pak Ming and son Edmond Wong Chi Wun's family of four, Annie 
Liu (Lau Sum Yau) two nights ago attended the Mandarin Film Spring 
Banquet.  Chin Yu saw Wong Chi Wun's younger son, could not help but 
pick him up to play with him.  Janice Yan broke the zipper on her dress 
and had to return backstage to fix it.
	Chin Yu and Ah Gil last year worked on a movie about a women's 
prison.  Chin yu said, "We shot at the hottest time in the summer.  The 
temperature reached 40 degrees (Celsius).  The prison was constructed in 
a studio without any window.  I was at melting point for a long period of 
time.  The film had many woman fight scenes, everyone was pulling hair.  
I remembered a brawl, in which I had to throw dishes and slap people.  
(Did you have to use foul language?)  Because of the film rating I didn't 
need to, if I have to I wouldn't mind.  I wouldn't have any baggage.  
Normally when I want a release I would use single word English curses."  
	Ah Gil revealed that she has already begun of weight loss plan.  
She would first go on a diet then exercise.  "Everyday I have one meal 
now, before I almost have seven.  At each meal I would eat everything and 
my appetite increased.  My husband has been losing weight with me.  
Actually his diet is healthier, he likes to eat light while I like 
flavor." 
	Speaking of her friend Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin's plan to "freeze 
her eggs" as well, Ah Gil said, "At the time the hormone shots made me 
gain 20 pounds, and I go a nurse to give me the shot.  It was very tough.  
(Do you have any advice for Ah Sa?)  No, ask (Joey) Yung Cho Yi.  She 
didn't get fat.  Because each person's body is different, she would have 
different reactions."
	Ah Gil mentioned in one of the fight scenes, she pulled off an 
extra's wig.  Exhausted, she could not help but laugh when she saw what 
happened.

* (2019/03/20) Emperor Motion Pictures yesterday held its 2019 film showcase 
at the Hong Kong International Film and Television Market at the Hong Kong 
Convention center.  9 upcoming releases and productions were introduced.  
Last year the Dante Lam Chiu Yin directed OPERATION RED SEA was a critical 
and commercial hit, made 4.524 billion at the box office and won the 2018 
Highest Grossing Asian Film at the Asian Film Awards.  Emperor boss Albert 
Yeung Sau Sing personally presented the award to Lam Chiu Yin.  Director 
Lam thanked the boss bu also jokingly asked the boss to remember to give 
bonuses.  Mr. Yeung revealed that his bonus could buy several homes and 
at the same time previewed that Director Lam would follow up with a 800 
million yuan sea rescue film production THE RESCUE (GUNG GUP GAU WOON), 
which would be one of the major blockbusters for Emperor in 2019!
	Other films included the Benny Chan Muk Sing directed, Nicholas 
Tse Ting Fung starred RAGING FIRE (NO FOR); the Wai Ka Fai directed, Sean 
Lau Ching Wan, Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin and Raymond Lam Fung starred 
DETECTIVE VS. SLEUTH (SUN TAM DAI JIN); the Steve Yuen Kim Fai directed, 
Karena Lam Ka Yun starred DECLARED LEGALLY DEAD (SEI YUN MO HOR YI); the 
Lee Cheuk Pan directed, Irene Wan Bik Ha starred THE FALLEN (DOR LOK FA); 
the Lau Ho Leung directed, Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho) and Wang Qianyuan 
starred CAUGHT IN TIME (HAN KEI POR ONG); the Erica Li Man directed, 
Wong Cho Lam starred JUST 1 DAYS (CUP NGOR YUT TIN); the Li Fei 
directed, Vicki Zhao Wei starred TWO TIGERS (LEUNG JET LO FU); the Choi 
Cheuk Yin and Pakho Chau starred 77 HEARTWARMINGS (GUM DUNG TA 77 CHI).
	The event debuted the teaser for THE RESCUE.  Director Lam Chiu 
Yin made an appearance with actors Carlos Chan Ka Lok, Xin Zhilei, Ian 
Wang.  Speaking of making THE RESCUE for more than OPERATION RED SEA 
(HUNG HOI HUNG DUNG)'s 400 billion production budget, Lam Chiu Yin stated, 
"This time the challenge would be even greater.  Each time would have 
different elements.  I of course want to spend more money.  (More than 
double?)  I don't know, just give me more to spend."  Albert Yeung Sau 
Sing presented the 2018 Highest Grossing Asian Film Award to Director Lam.  
Mr. Yeung joked, "The 3.65 billion RMB box office was very rare, the 
credit belonged to the great director."  Director Lam said, "Thank you 
Boss for the support, bonus, please remember to give bonuses."  Mr. Yeung 
said, "Last time I got a lot already, and you bought many homes.  This 
time you are rich."  
	Director Lam revealed that THE RESCUE has already completed its 
Mainland shoot.  Today he will head to Mexico for a month.  Would the 800 
million production budget give him stress?  He said, "No, as I count it 
may be that much.  It's very stressful.  (How would you celebrate the 
award?)  I am the most interested in the bonus, would some of the 800 
million go to me?  (Mr. Yeung said that you bought several homes?)  Mr. 
Yeung is constantly giving me hope.  He always says that I might get it if 
I think about it, but I have been thinking for a very long time."
	RUYI'S ROYAL LOVE IN THE PALACE's Consort Jia, Xin Zhilei said 
that the director made no gender difference.  Direction Lam said, "She 
has to pilot a plane, dive.  It has to be very tough, otherwise I can't 
hold on to my 'Demon Director' reputation!"
	Last year Emperor Motion Pictures' total box office was 6 billion 
RMB, second highest in the Manland industry.  This year it will continue 
to produce strong films.  At the event a video of Dayo Wong Tze Wah was 
shown as he previewed his new film.  Tze Wah revealed, "After FIGHTING TO 
SURVIVE (YUT MUN GAI BO BIU) 20 years ago, this will be the second time I 
write, direct and star.  Over a decade agao I already wanted to make this 
film, but I couldn't find the lead actress.  This time I found the tough,
pretty and with good skin Lau Sum Yau (Annie Liu)."  The video kept 
shooting a punching bag, hinting that the story would be related to it.
	Lam Ka Yun revealed that for her DECLARED LEGALLY DEAD (SEI YUN MO 
HOR YI)'s character she kept her hair gray for two months and could not 
have any skin care treatment in order for her to perform more 
convincingly.  Zhao Wei in TWO TIGERS would produce and star.  She said, 
"The director wrote this film for two years.  The character would be quite 
a character."
	After 3 years away from film, Zhao Wei as the producer and the 
actor would work with director Li Fei on the new film TWO TIGERS.  Zhao 
Wei said, "The director wrote this film for two years.  We will shoot 
a lot in the Mainland.  This film belongs to a very unique style of 
its own.  The character I play will be quite a character."
	Lau Ching Wan and Wai Ka Fai 10 years ago reunited for DETECTIVE 
VS. SLEUTHS (SUN TAM DAI JIN).  Ching Wan said, "The biggest challenge 
was not making this film but taking this role.  After I agreed I started 
to regret it.  I am very certain about what I would run into with a Wai 
Ka Fai film, and realize that I am very suitable to make his movies.  
Everything I expect will happen in the film.  It's very hard to explain to 
everyone clearly!"

* (2019/03/20) Nicholas Tse Ting Fung and Donnie Yen Chi Tan will work 
on the Benny Chan Muk Sing directed action film RAGING FIRE (NO FOR), 
which will officially start production next month and will take three and 
a half months to shoot.  Ting Fung who has not made a movie in awhile felt 
that each time has been a new attempt and challenge.  He felt that Hong 
Kong film has not had hand to hand combat in a very long time.  He joked 
that his body has been itching for a long time and he looked forward to 
a beating!
	Ting Fung said that injury will be inevitable, which was the 
spirit of action film.  As for dangerous stunts, he left them for Lord 
Tan to design.  He revealed that they have not worked together for 14 
years.  "The last time was DRAGON TIGER GATE (LUNG FU MOON).  I really 
look forward to fighting together.  (Would you ask Lord Tan to hold back?)  
I am in training, I hope to be able to run a little faster."
	As for big scenes, Chan Muk Sing said, "It's very hard to shoot 
gun fights and explosion scenes on the streets of Hong Kong because the 
cost is expensive and the application process is hard.  (Would you ask 
boss Albert Yeung Sau Sing) to increase the production budget?)  The boss 
definitely would support the film!  (How much will the budget be?)  I 
can't say yet."
	Speaking of the Dante Lam Chiu Yin directed THE RESCUE (GUNG GUP 
GAU WOON)'s 800 million yuan investment, Ting Fung said, "Our genres are 
different.  We aren't at war, we are in a fight!"  Recently linked to Mini 
Yang Mi, was Ting Fung's relationship with Faye Wong stable?  He smiled 
and said, "I am not answering anything about love, we aren't really at 
war, haha."

* (2019/03/20) Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin yesterday went to two events at the 
Hong Kong International Film and Television Market.  First she attended 
the Emperor Motion Pictures showcase, then she promoted her film THE LADY 
IMPROPER (FEI FUN SHOOK NUI)'s photography exhibit.  
	Ah Sa revealed that she would have five films and television 
series on the way.  Today she first saw the teasers for 77 HEARTWARMINGS 
(GUM DUNG TA 77 CHI) and DETECTIVE VS. SLEUTHS (SUN TAM DAI JIN) and she 
looked forward to them very much.  She said that after making DETECTIVE 
she felt like she just survived a disaster, everyone felt like they just 
experienced the end of the world and they were the only earthlings left.  
In one scene her head had to be covered in plastic wrap.  She said, "It 
was very tough, but someone asked if that was me.  I was very 
heartbroken."  Ah Sa also experienced the brink of death.  "Originally 
the wrap went around twice, with two holes poked for air.  However the 
director said that they would show up during the close up shot and added 
another layer.  I truly almost died."
	Ah Sa then went to the photography exhibit.  She said that her 
favorite photo was the one without eye makeup, which was more able to show 
her individuality.  Normally when she was not at work she would not put on 
makeup, as she fought to rest her skin a rest.  She and her boyfriends 
held hands when they attended Pal Sinn Lap Man's birthday birthday.  Ah 
Sa said, "That's very normally, we have no reason to let go.  Going to a 
friend's party isn't a problem for me and him, but he is outside the 
industry.  He was not used to facing the cameras, so when everyone took 
photos please turn off the flash bulb and not to rush him in a group.  
Taking turns to take photos would be the best, otherwise he would be very 
scared."

* (2019/03/20) Hong Kong Film Composers' Guild was founded yesterday, the 
event invited Hong Kong Film Development Council's chair Ma Fung Kwok, 
Hong Kong Federation of Film Workers permanent honorary president Ng See 
Yuen as guests.  The guild's first president Wai Kai Leung, vice president 
Peter Kam Pui Tat and other Hong Kong film composer association 
representatives conducted the launch ceremony.  Other guests included Derek 
Yee Tung Sing, Philip Keung Ho Man and Sam Lee Chan Sam.
	Hak Jai recently performed the theme song for his film REMEMBER 
WHAT I FORGOT (DIN YING CHI HON).  He said that everyday he would record 
for five or six hours at the recording studio for three days.  "I like to 
sing, but it really is different from singing at concerts.  I just 
realized that I had a lot of relaxed pronunciation, the pitch had to be 
fixed.  Because the entire film has been made for such a long time, so 
some of the feelings weren't there.  The company one day arranged for me 
to see the movie for my feelings to return, then I returned to the 
recording studio to record."  Would he dare to sing?  He said that he 
would.  He also pointed out that earlier he sang a duet, but this time was 
a solo so he was a little nervous.  How did his wife feel about his 
singing?  He said, "My wife says that she really likes it.  Earlier I 
recorded another version for her.  After listening she said that I sang 
very stiff.  This time was the soft version."

* (2019/03/19) The Justin Cheung Kin Sing, Jeana Ho Pui Yu and Linah 
Matsuoka starred new film DECEPTION OF THE NOVELIST (JOK GA DIK FONG YIN: 
BUK JUNG YAU JUI) officially released its poster.  Linah Matsuoka was in 
the buff.  Despite the lack of any nudity or lewd behavior the poster 
received a ban before its release, as MTR and Kowloon Bus rejected the 
poster citing nudity, neck wound and knife in hand as reasons.  The film 
company felt that the poster was suitable and would consider other formats 
to promote.
	In the film Cheung Kin Sing, his wife Jeana and their son 
originally were a happy family, but after the mistress Linah Matsuoka 
suddenly appeared and rented the room upstairs, a thrilling mystery 
occurred.  In the film Matsuoka had many super sexy costumes, in the 
stairway in seductive lingerie, and blindfolded in another scene.

* (2019/03/19) Donnie Yen Chi Tan and Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam) yesterday 
appeared at the Hong Kong Film and Television Market's IP MAN Hall to 
promote IP MAN 4.  Speaking of IP MAN reaching its finale with its four 
installment, Chi Tan admitted the most beautiful thing should come to an 
end.  He was not upset, as perhaps there would be a new start.  In 
addition nothing was forever in film, he even joked that maybe in the next 
one Hung Doi Lam would return.  Would he like to make a fifth film?  He 
said, "Film has a lot of imagination!  If the audience asks for it, with 
new co-stars that can stimulate everyone and new elements artistically, 
I wouldn't block off my own road."
	Would the fighting in IP MAN 4 be more difficult?  Chi Tan stated 
that if the audience would be happy from watching it and he was able to 
fight, he already did his job.  He said, "I fight no matter the genre, in 
each movie I would look for breakthrough for even more sensory 
stimulation.  Yet each film would have its chemical reaction."
	Lynn said that she was very envious of how much Yen Chi Tan loved 
and respected his wife, while making IP MAN she was single and she wanted 
to find a husband like Yen Chi Tan.  In the end she was able to find a 
good husband.

* (2019/03/19) mm2 2019 film rundown yesterday took place at the Hong 
Kong International Film and Television Market.  The company's Hong Kong 
executive director Ha Yu attended with actors Cecilia So Lai Shan, Lam 
Yiu Sing, Endy Chow Kwok Yin and others.  Ha Yu pointed out that this 
year 10 films and crime web drama will be produced.  He will have a 
chance to perform and welcome his son Dixon Wong Yik Sun and his 
girlfriend Cheronna Ng Ka Hei to perform as well.  He has not rushed them 
to wed yet.  His son was already adult, if he wanted to wed he would.  He 
would not interfere with their lives.  Ha Yu asked about Susanna Kwan Kuk 
Ying's condition but she has not responded.  He did not want to hear any 
bad news as he would like to keep working together in the future.
	So Lai Shan said that her HELL BANK PRESENTS: RUNNING GHOST (MING 
TUNG NGAN HONG DUT YEUK: FAN SUN JUNG BA JIN) character was hyperactive 
unlike her, like her character has made her active as well.

* (2019/03/19) The Hong Kong Entertainment Expo has already stepped into 
its 15th year.  This time the Entertainment Expo would continue to open 
with the Hong Kong International Film and Television Market (Filmart).  
Filmart has also stepped into its 23rd year.  Over 880 exhibitors from 35 
countries and regions yesterday unveiled their exhibits, for the next four 
days the Hong Kong Convention Center will be where music, film and 
television big shots gather to promote their latest film and television 
products to buyers from around the world.  This year would have even more 
regions that set up exhibits or exhibition halls for the first time, which 
fully reflected the Filmart's important position in the Greater Bay 
Area and solidify Hong Kong's position as the city of creativity.
	The Hong Kong Entertainment Expo will take place from March 18th 
to April 14th, including the Hong Kong International Film and Television 
Market, the Hong Kong International Film Festival, the Hong Kong Film 
Awards, Hong Kong Asian Film Financing Forum, Hong Kong Asian Pop Music 
Fair and other events.  This year's Entertainment Expo is even more 
meaningful to Hong Kong.  Because as clearly stated in the just announced 
Greater Bay Area Development Plan Outline, it would support Hong Kong 
through film and television market and other events with international 
influence.  Yesterday the Hong Kong secretary of finance Chan Mo Po, Trade
Development Council executive director Margaret Fong Shun Man, the 
State Administration for Radio, Film and Television television series 
deputy secretary Liu Meiyu, the TDC film, television and entertainment 
advisory committee chair Peter Lam Kin Ngok and the Hong Kong 
Entertainment Expo ambassador Leon Lai Ming host the Hong Kong 
Entertainment Expo launch ceremony.
	The Leon shot promotional short film was shown, creatively all 
the lines were said backward. Chan Mo Po said that this time the Hong Kong 
Entertainment Expo's slogan was it could be recited backward, thus all 
the lines were backward in the promotional film.  He was surprised to 
find how fluent Leon was with it.  The promotional film already has 
350,000 hits.
	Chan Mo Po represented the Special Administrative Region 
government in welcoming friends old and new, stressing that Hong Kong 
would gather creative talent through film and television market and other 
internationally influential events and solidify Hong Kong's position of 
city of creativity.  This would fully reflect the film and television 
market's very unique and sizable position in the Greater Bay Area.
	In order to further assist the industry to expand its business
connections, the film and television market will have over 60 cultural 
exchanges, new film announcements, special topic forums and other 
events, as well as over 300 screenings.  Around 100 screenings would be 
world or Asian premieres.  The Greater Bay Area film and television 
industry development would be one of the focus of this year's Filmart, as 
many Greater Bay Area representatives would examine the future of the 
Greater Bay area entertainment industry development opportunities at 
several forums.
	Lam Kin Ngok pointed out that after the announcement of the 
Greater Bay Area Development Plan Outline, he felt that more development 
space would appear, attracting more from the industry to Hong Kong and
strengthening Hong Kong film, television and entertainment position.  He 
even urged young people to support it and inject new force into the Hong 
Kong film industry.
	Leon changed from his golden quote ways to tongue twisters.  
Speaking of how creative his promotional film was, how would 
technology and creativity help each other?  Leon said, "Actually many 
peopl would use new technology, including the internet to make their 
own creations.  I believe creative technology will require a lot of time.  
For friends who find a suitable team, they love to create.  This creation 
can not only develop step by step online but also be seen by even more.  
It can even be developed into a new entertainment format that we never 
would have guessed."
	What business opportunity would the Greater Bay Area concept 
bring entertainment development?  Leon said that for young people it 
absolutely would be a good starting point.  The time has come for

to create their careers.  Leon continued, "First for a creator or a job 
seeker, when they would look for work in Hong Kong they would look the 
same district and for jobs that speak Cantonese.  Actually most of the 
Greater Bay Area understand Cantonese, of course Putonghua would be great 
too.  If you can communicate and the job is close to home, you can let 
your inspiration run wild and have exchanges in a new place.  I believe 
for young people it absolutely would be a good starting point.  Hong Kong 
is a small place, and has been developing for a very long time.  It is 
time for interactive exchanges, creating even more opportunities for 
young people to start their careers.  They would include online, behind 
the scene and friends who like film and music, if they do well, business 
opportunities would naturally come find you."

* (2019/03/19) Er Dong film yesterday held a Hong Kong International Film 
and Television Market press conference.  P STORM (P FUNG BO)'s actors 
Louis Koo Tin Lok, Raymond Lam Fung, Kevin Cheng Ka Wing, Gordon Lam Ka 
Tung, Chrissie Chau Sau Na, Patrick Tam Yiu Man and I CORRUPT ALL COPS 2 
(GUM CHIN DAI GOK 2 SEI DAI TAM JEUNG)'s producer Wong Jing and actor 
Jacquelin Chong Si Man attended.
	Lam Fung said that 18 years after STEP INTO THE PAST (CHUM CHUN 
GEI) he worked with Koo Tin Lok again on P STORM (P FUNG BO).  This time 
was also his first villain role.  Goo Jai also praised Lam Fung as more 
stable and mature 18 years later, working together again was particularly 
happy.  Lam Ka Tung said that Goo Jai "did him in" in the first 
installment, thus this time in the fourth installment in the prison he 
"did Goo Jai in" with his subordinates at the shower.  The only female 
lead in the film, Chau Sau Na said that Lam Fung was trying to kill her 
on a helicopter.  Luckily Ka Wing saved her and she felt very fortunate.  
Ka Wing also said that fighting in the narrow space in the helicopter was 
quite a challenge and felt that Lam Fung was quite agile.  Sister Na did 
not complain even though she got bruises.  She had a lot of professional 
ethics.
	Cheng Ka Wing was asked if he would start to be more careful now 
that he has a family.  Ka Wing said, "Now film productions would more or 
less have action, my wife is an actor too.  She would understand the 
process.  In addition I don't want to stop being an actor so soon!"  
His son just turned a month old.  Did he feel he looked like him?  Ka 
Wing said, "My Ma says he looks like me, my mother in law says he looks 
like my wife.  For now I feel he looks more like me, when he will be a 
little older maybe he will look like my wife.  Everyday he looks 
different!"
	Yesterday at work Ka Wing admitted that he kept missing his son.  
"Actually anyone with children would know.  Now every two hours he would 
need someone, but he has been very nice and slept very well.  Sometimes 
he would wake up, so I have to have patience."  With his fatherhood 
experience, Ka Wing said that he started to know his son's temper.  If 
he had to go he would be moving around with his face all red, if he was 
hungry he would have another reaction.  He changed, fed and burped his 
son.  When he successfully burped his son he had an indescribable sense of 
satisfaction.  However he said that his son was very "nice" as he already 
poured tea for him.  "Once the maternity assistant was changing him and I 
was standing next to her.  He turned to the side and spray in my face.  
The feeling was warm, very powerful and strong.  However it probably 
happened to every Papa!"

* (2019/03/19) The summer release WHITE STORM 2: DRUG LORDS (SO DUK 2 TIN 
DEI DUI KUET) yesterday held a press conference at the Hong Kong 
International Film and Television Market.  Director Herman Yau Lai To, 
actors Andy Lau Tak Wa, Louis Koo Tin Lok, Michael Miu Kiu Wai, Kent Cheng 
Juk Si, Karena Lam Ka Yun and Chrissie Chau Sau Na all appeared for the 
trailer premiere.
	As the producer and the lead, Lau Tak Wa revealed that WHITE's 
first 80 minutes had plenty of car chases.  For the finale a 1 to 1 scale 
two story MTR Central station lobby and tunnel set was built for a car 
chase between him and Koo Tin Lok into the MTR.  The shoot took over two 
weeks.  Sam Gor said that it cost HK$ 350 million.  Wa Jai said, "Then I 
would rather they gave the money to us!"  Speaking of yesterday two MTR 
trains crashed during a new signal test, Goo Jai said, "Maybe we crushed 
them!"  Sam Gor continued, "It was at the station we shot at, I am a 
little scared!"  Wa Jai also said, "That's very awkward!"  Sam Gor joked, 
"Would they blame you?"  Wa Jai answered, "I don't think now, they would 
blame the boss!"
	Wa Jai felt that this collaboration was rather fresh, because he 
and Sam Gor have not worked together since BROTHERS about ten years ago 
and with Goo Jai since FAT CHOI SPIRIT (LEK GOO LEK GOO SUN NIN CHOI).  
It was even the first time that Sam Gor worked with Goo Jai.  Sam Gor 
joked, "One of you was heaven and the other earth and you went to have 
a heart to heart, I came out in the end to take care of things.  However 
it was the first time I witnessed the power of two Best Actors.  I was 
learning!"  Wa Jai joked that he was in the business the longest.  Sam 
Gor said that he only got into the business a few months before Wa Jai.  
Goo Jai in the film played the villain, the most evil performance yet.  
His character preferred foreign women, he often had bikini clad beauties 
around him and gave him lap dances.  Did he feel very lucky?  He said, 
"It was more awkward, so awkward that I was angry.  I could only perform 
as such.  However before the dance we needed more communication, and I 
was forced to dance!"  Wa Jai joked that in the film he only had two 
Asian beauties in his wife Lam Ka Yun and girlfriend Chau Sau Na, and Sam 
Gor in the film only had a daughter.
	Lam Ka Yun said that she worked with Wa Jai for the first time as 
husband and wife.  She praised Wa Jai for truly having no bad side.  He 
took care of everyone very well, the meal boxes were very fine and he 
would end the work day on time.  "When I had to change for a wedding gown 
scene, he was very patient.  When I came out in a wedding gown, he 
attentively lent me a hand.  So I was very safe and felt very fortunate!"  
Although in the film she and Wa Jai had intimate scene, but Ka Yun had 
limits.  Instead on the first day of work they worked on an argument 
scene.  They were unable to reach an understanding in life but still were 
able to look very compatible.
	Chau Sau Na on the first day of work also had to work on a break 
up scene with Wa Jai, which required her to be "packed" to dump him.  
"Because it was the first time we worked together, I was very nervous and 
anxious.  I could only not think about how handsome he was, only focusing 
on the flaws of his character.  Yet inside I was very reluctant.  We 
really should have more sweet scenes earlier, maybe then I would be a 
little more used to it."  Sister Na also praised Wa Jai for being very 
professional, the break up scene had a lot of emotional swings and would 
get physical.  He would adjust himself to bring the scene to a finish 
very quickly.

* (2019/03/19) Media Asia film yesterday announced its major film projects 
for this year at the Hong Kong International Film and Television Market.  
Attending actors included Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Nick Cheung Ka Fai, Sammi 
Cheng Sau Man, Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai) and others.  
Five films were introduced, BODIES AT REST (CHUM MUK DIK JING YUN), 
SILENCE OF SMOKE (MUN YIN), FAGARA (FA JIU JI MEI), KNOCKOUT (NGOR MOON WING BUK 
YIN HEI), THE CALLING OF A BUS DRIVER (AH SOK DIK GOO SI) and I'M LIVING IT (MAK 
LO YUN).  Sing Sing revealed, "I'M LIVING IT has already been completed 
for awhile, it is slated for a release this year and later will 
participate in film festivals elsewhere.  As an actor I won't put awards 
first.  Because it is a Hong Kong subject, I hope it will be able to show 
the world that Hong Kong films are excellent."
	Sing Sing in the film played a terminally ill homeless person.  He 
said after the shoot he thought that he had the terminal illness himself 
and was rather anxious.  Later after a physical he found out that he was 
fine and relaxed.  Chin Wa praised Sing Sing for being in character, he 
was able to skip meals and very easily bring them into their characters.  
Reportedly Sing Sing placed a fengshui setting for having sons, which he 
denied.  "Of course not, actually I have always used fengshui to secure 
the home.  It isn't a made up story as reported.  (Was it not this color 
before?)  Because it broke in a storm earlier a new one was set up.  Now 
it is much more secure.  Since I am a father and a husband, I have a duty 
to protect the health of my family.  (You wouldn't pray for a son with 
your wife's second pregnancy?)  Regardless of the gender I am happy, I 
just want my daughter to have a companion."  Chin Wa said, "The elders 
always teach us not to reveal the gender during the pregnancy."  Sing 
Sing agreed that his mother did not like him always talking about it 
either.  Happiness was the most important.
	Cheng Sau Man with Megan Lai Ya-Yan and Cherry Li Xiaofeng in 
the film FAGARA played sisters.  Kenny Bee (Chung Chun To) played their 
father.  They said that B Gor Gor could play their boyfriend.  B Gor said, 
"With make up effect I can play old, if I play the age since I have known 
human nature then I am probably OK."
	Singer turned actor Ivana Wong Yuen Chi yesterday promoted her 
new film THE CALLING OF A BUS DRIVER.  Producer, director and writer Patrick Kong 
(Yip Lim Sum) revealed that she went to get a bus driver license.  "She 
in the film played a bus driver, but I wouldn't say how many times she 
took the test!  I thought about asking her to take everyone to the 
premiere on a bus, but I would go on my own!"  Ivana said that getting 
the bus driver license actually was not too hard.  "As long as you are 
willing to go to class you are fine.  You will get it after a few times.  
I want to say that after the shoot I can drive to celebrate with a 
barbecue, but no one has responded."

* (2019/03/19) The 43rd Hong Kong International Film Festival held its 
opening ceremony last night at the Convention Center.  Opening ceremony 
guests included the Commerce and Economic Development under secretary 
Dr. Bernard Chan Pak Li, Hong Kong International Film Festival Association 
president Dr. Wong Ying Wai, film festival ambassador Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, 
film festival youth ambassador Jennifer Yu Heung Yi, the opening film 
BODIES AT REST (CHUM MUK DIK JING YUN)'s director Renny Harlin, actors 
Nick Cheung Ka Fai,  Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai), Carlos Chan Ka Lok, Roger 
Kwok Chun On, Ron Ng Cheuk Hei.  Other guests included director Johnnie 
To Kei Fung and his wife, Mainland director Jia Zhangke and his wife.
	President Wong Ying Wai said, "The Hong Kong International Film 
Festival is an annual event for film cultural exchange, so far 85 shows 
have been sold out.  We have invited a group of domestic and 
internationally renowned filmmaker to the film festival to provide the 
valuable opportunity for sharing and exchanges among colleagues."  
	Lately busy with another action film in Spain, Cheung Ka Fai said 
that he was very happy to have a film that would open the film festival 
for the first time.  Thus two nights ago he made time to return to Hong 
Kong and show his support.  After the event he would fly back to continue 
the shoot.  "I have been in Spain for three weeks, after returning  only 
had one meal with my wife and daughter.  However after one more week I 
will be back."
	Siu Chai talked about the production experience.  The most 
memorable for him was when he kicked in a door to catch Ka Fai and was 
injured.  "The kick caused leg muscle tear, I had to be in crutches for 
two months.  However the director was very accommodating and delayed all 
the running and action scenes.  I promised Mama I would make a dramatic 
film, so I didn't dar to tell her I got hurt.  I was afraid that she would 
yell at me."
	Ng Cheuk Hei and Kwok Chun On both said that they were very happy 
to be to work with a Hollywood director and experience a Hollywood style 
production.  On Jai said that this time he played a seemingly gay but not 
character at the request of the director.  "Actually I don't know too 
much, when I got to the set I very happily chatted with Ka Fai for two 
days then I returned to Hong Kong.  However I added in more feminine 
gestures.  After each shot the director would yell 'good', but he was 
demanding.  After three or four times when he said 'well done' then we 
were finished."
	Cheuk Hei said that his role mainly revolved around Siu Chai.  
The script only had the word "brawl".  He then fought for six full days.  
He fought for a dozen or so takes before the director yelled 'well done'.  
Although at the time Beijing was chilly and he had to fight from morning 
to night, he learned a lot from working with Ka Fai and Siu Chai for the 
first time.
	Yu Heung Yi last night was present with old flame Chan Ka Lok.  
She said that she was not afraid of awkwardness if they ran into each 
other because they already ran into each other at the Directors' Guild 
spring banquet earlier.  They politely greeted each other.
	Chan Ka Lok also said that running into his ex would not be 
awkward, but he would try not to talk too much about his love life.  
Speaking of being caught with Jeannie Chan Ying in a car again, he 
explained, "It was an old photo, earlier we worked together on a series.  
After work I got her a ride home."

* (2019/03/18) The 13th Asian Film Awards this year returned to Hong Kong 
and took place last night at the Television City in Tseung Kwan O.  Best 
Actor and Actress went to Koji Yakusho and Samal Yeslyamova, Best Film 
was SHOPLIFTERS, Best Director was Lee Chang-dong, who also won the 
Lifetime Achievement Award.  Best Supporting Actor went to DYING TO 
SURVIVE's Zhang Yu, Kara Wai Ying Hung with TRACEY (CHUI SI) won Best 
Supporting Actress.  AFA New Generation Award and AFA Rising Star went 
to Korean stars Kim Jae-Joong and Park Seo-jun.  Th 2018 Highest Grossing 
Asian Film was OPERATION RED SEA.  The film accumulated US$ 580 million 
to become the highest grossing film in Asia.
	The award show's hosts were Cyrus Chow Chi Kui and Janis Chan Bui 
Yi. This year's theme was "Film Restoration Rekindles Classics", which 
promoted the importance of classic film restoration.  The event also 
showed classic scenes from already restored classic films like A BETTER 
TOMORROW (YING HUNG BOON SIK), THROWDOWN (YAU DOH LUNG FU BONG), FIST OF 
FURY (JING MO MOON) and BISHONEN (MEI SIU NIN JI LUEN).
	21 awards were presented in the evening.  The 63 year old actor 
Koji Yakusho won Excellent in Asian Cinema and Best Actor for his 
excellent achievement and contribution to promote Asian film for over 
40 years.  Koji Yakusho said, "Before the award I was very nervous, now I 
can breathe a sigh of relief.  I want to thank the cast and the crew I 
have worked with before, I also thank my family for always supporting me 
and giving me inspiration.  As for new projects I will make a new series, 
and in the Fall I will also have a new film release."  Director Lee 
Chang-dong received the Lifetime Achievement Award and Best Director for 
BURNING.
	The 2018 Highest Grossing Asian Film was OPERATION RED SEA.  The 
film accumulated US$ 580 million at the box office to become Asian's 
highest grossing film.  The film's boss Albert Yeung Sau Sing spoke about 
the difficulty the production experienced.  "During the shoot we ran into 
a lot of difficulties.  First we had to have the full support of the 
Chinese government's navy to be able to make the movie, at the same time 
we also had to have assistance from the Moroccan government's military.  
At the time we ran into a lot of difficulties and levels to pass.  I 
would like to thank the cast, the crew and the entire team, I would also 
like to thank the soul of the film (Dante) Lam Chiu Yin.  In the film his 
insisted on doing everything to its fullest.  The film had 3.65 billion 
RMB at the box office, the record was truly rare and worth celebrating."
	That night Johnny Huang won Best Newcomer for OPERATION RED SEA.  
New female director Oliver Chan Siu Kuen with STILL HUMAN won Best New 
Director.  She received the award from Stanley Kwan Kam Peng and Gigi 
Leung Wing Kei.  "I am very surprised and touched.  This award isn't for 
me alone, but for the effort of the team.  Without their help it would 
be impossible for me to be on the stage."  She also thanked producer Fruit 
Chan Gor and her family, she would keep working hard.  Chan Siu Kuen said 
that she had a good relationship with STILL lead actor Wong Chau Sun.  
During the shoot although they had arguments, they were like father and 
daughter and in the end they would debate which method to shoo with.  She 
also said that later she would like to keep making interpersonal stories 
of human nature, they would not have to depict reality.
	Best Actress Wai Ying Hung with TRACEY (CHUI SI) won Best 
Supporting Actress as the favorite.  On the stage she said that as an 
actor she was very honored to be able to make movies with creativity and 
that cultivated newcomers.  She thanked co-star Hak Jai and River Huang's 
trust in her, the jury especially Joan Chen.  She knew that Chen watched 
many movies, was very tired and had neck pain.  Although it was already 
her third Asian Film Award, she would not go easy on herself and would 
make even more good movies.

* (2019/03/18) Before the 13th Asian Film Award took place, the stars took 
to the red carpet with Korean sars Kim Jae-joong, Park Seo-jun, Anthony 
Wong Chau Sun, Kara Wai Ying Hung, River Huang, Gigi Leung Wing Kei, Jordan 
Chan Siu Chun and his wife Cherrie Ying Choi Yi, Joan Chen, Zhang Jingchu, 
Fish Liew Chi Yu, Alex To Tak Wai, director Stanley Kwan Kam Peng and 
others.
	Guest performer Kim Jae-Joong last night received the AFA New 
Generation Award.  He said that it was his first time at the Asian Film 
Awards.  Earlier he had very few opportunities to come to Hong Kong, so 
he felt very honored.  Has he seen the other films?  He admitted that he 
only read the program and saw many familiar actors and directors on the 
nomination list.  Because he was too busy with work last year, he had 
very little time to watch movies and television series.  However he was 
very interested.  He liked to watch action films very much and knew that 
the Greater Chinese region had many outstanding actors.  He hoped to have 
a chance to work with them because he only had one production under his 
belt.
	Also at his first Asian Film Awards, Korean star Park Seo-jun 
received the AFA Rising Star award.  He said that he was very happy after 
learning that he would win this award and would continue to work hard on 
his work.  What did he feel it took to become a Rising Star?  He said, 
"Actually I don't know why I won either, you should probably ask the 
event.  Maybe everyone have always cared about me very much, so I 
himself has been very nervous and even more careful.  From now on I will 
keep working hard.  (Would you like to work on a movie in Hong Kong?)  It 
will depend on my schedule, I can't just make it when I want to.  That's 
why I have to work hard now and wait for the chance to come.  Hopefully I 
will be able to work with Hong Kong actors and directors soon.  I would 
like to work with (Aaron) Kwok Fu Sing the most because his acting is very 
cool."
	The Best New Director Award presenters were Gigi Leung Wing Kei 
and director Stanley Kwan Kam Peng.  Gigi pointed out that three out of 
the six nominees were female directors and felt that the ratio was very 
high.  Hong Kong also had new director nominee and she hoped that she 
would win.  After watching her film STILL HUMAN, Gigi thought that the 
director made Wong Chau Sun look great.  Gigi herself cried several times.  
Kwan Kam Peng was very nervous for Oliver Chan Siu Kuen because he has 
seen other new directors' work, all of which were very high quality.  He 
also recognized that many female directors have appeared in the world, 
which was a good thing.  Would Gigi be interested in directing?  She 
admitted that she would be interested but she first had to prepare 
herself, pay more attention to things and events around her, listen to 
more stories and bring good stories to the audience.  She would like to 
make romance and family films because she has had experience with the 
subjects.  She also jokd that she would not be able to make a science 
fiction film.  Kwan Kam Peng was very supportive of Gigi becoming a 
director and believed that sh would make a good subject.  Gigi heard and 
said that when she would direct she definitely would want Director Kwan to 
help.
	Best Actor Anthony Wong Chau Sun appeared on the red carpet.  
Speaking of his new film STILL HUMAN at the 14th Osaka Asian Film 
Festival received the "viewers' choice award", his fifth award with the 
film.  He said, "Right?  I was in Tokyo earlier, why wasn't I invited.  
(How did it feel to win 5 awards in a row?)  It's really unreal, I have to 
be more careful.  I can't be arrogant.  When I get home I have to kneel 
and pray, give credit for all the honor to the Lord.  I have to be 
humble."
	Has he received even more film offers after the awards?  He said, 
"For now I haven't, but I have a lot to do myself.  I would have a play, 
and stand up comedy with (Jan) Lamb Hoi Fung.  I believe I would be 
pretty busy."  Speaking of his commercial in Tokyo earlier, he said, "This 
time I went to a tea garden, the tea is still memorable now.  It was the 
best team I ever had in my life."
	Golden Horse Best Actress Hsieh Ying-hsuan was a "Best Visual 
Effects" guest presenter with Taiwan star Roy Chiu.  Which actor would 
she like to work with?  She immediately turned into a "little fan" and 
said excitedly, "I really like SHOPLIFTERS' Sakura Ando, because of that 
movie I became her fan.  I am already following her on Instragram.  (Would 
you try to get a picture with her?)  Of course, I have to ask Roy Chiu to 
hold my phone for me."
	Fish Liew Ch Yu also would take the chance to catch a glimpse of 
her idol Joan Chen.  "This time I am very happy I am able to see actors 
and directors I like, Joan Chen in particular.  I really want to work 
with her.  I really admire her.  She is both an actor and an outstanding 
director.  I hope to be like her, she is my role modle."  Presenting 
Best Costume Design, she appeared in a suit.  She stated with 
satisfaction, "I feel I can master my look.  The company gave me a lot of 
freedom.  I have a lot of potential, sometimes dressing up follows how you 
feel."

* (2019/03/18) Donnie Yen Chi Tan yesterday with hs wife Cissy Wang 
attended the 2019 BWM Hong Kong Derby at the Shatin racetrack.  Chi Tan 
revealed that early next month he will work and produce a crime film with 
Benny Chan Muk Sing.  The film will shoot in Hong Kong, then he will have 
more time to spend with is family.  He revealed that his character will 
have to fight, for which he hoped to be able to bring new elements to 
viewers. At the end of the year he will also make a movie that he will 
invest in, his character will not have to fight too much.

* (2019/03/17) The new director Ng Yuen Fai directed, Sean Lau Ching Wan, 
Louis Koo Tin Lok, Philip Keung Ho Man starred, Nick Cheung Ka Fai and 
Carina Lau Ka Ling guest starred Hong Kong science fiction action epic 
WARRIORS OF FUTURE (MING YUT JIN GEI) cost HK$ 450 million to make.  After 
a year the film finally released its second trailer, the content of which 
was richer than the first.
	The latest trailer opened with a city building that was covered 
in vines.  Koo Tin Lok braved the storm in a high tech fighter plane to 
observe the vine filled city and seemed to have suffered an alien attack.  
Goo Jai fell into a life and death crisis; in another scene he, Lau Ching 
Wan and Keung Ho Man were chased by giant robots on the highway.  Keung 
Ho Man's dreadlock "cyclops" look was very attractive.  Aside from Goo 
Jai, Ching Wan and Hak Jai, in the trailer was also military officer Lau 
Ka Ling, Cheung Ka Fai and Tse Kwan Ho.  

* (2019/03/17) Wong Kar Wai two nights ago attended the Hong Kong Film 
Screenwriters Guild 2019 Spring Banque and received a honorary award.  
Videos of classic films were shown.  Wong Kar Wai joked tha in the past 
during the shoot he was made fun of as not having a script.  He brought 
the CHUNG KING EXPRESS script for evidence.  Back then he only spent two 
weeks and finished this script and a month in production.  Anthony Wong 
Chau Sun and Chloe Maayan won the male and female "Best Character 
Performance Award".
	Wong Kar Wai thanked the screenwriters he has worked with before.  
He joked that there was no perk from serving him, anyone who would would 
have to be on call for 24 hours a day and come as soon as called.  Once 
accused of having no script while making a movie, Director Wong said, "I 
have to thank the Screenwriters' Guild for supporting me and clearing 
my name."  After taking out the CHUNG KING EXPRESS script he sad, 
"Everyone may suspect whether there was a script, so I have brought the 
evidence.  I really did write it."  Director Wong did not forget to thank 
his wife and son.  He said that his wife already had him, but not his 
heart because sometimes he would even forget days like birthdays and 
celebratory days.  He had to thank his wife for her tolerance of him.
	As for new projects, Director Wong said that he was planning to 
adapt the novel BLOSSOMS.  He said, "My family is from Shanghai but I 
have never made a movie about Old Shanghai.  BLOSSOMS will be the third 
installment in a trilogy with IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE (FA YEUNG NIN WA) and 
2046.  It has already been in preparation for four years.  I hope this 
year it will be completed and start production."  As for actors, Director 
Wong revealed that the first condition would be the ability to speak the 
Shanghai dialect.  Would he invite Tony Leung Chiu Wai to perform again?  
He said that he would not mind, as long as Wai Jai knew the Shanghai 
dialect he would be fine.
	Just rushed back from Japan to accept the award, Wong Chau Sun 
joked that he tripped over himself to accept the award.  Would winning 
the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor next month be perfect?  Chau Sun 
said, "I won't mind if I do, but nothing is perfect.  Life is full of 
regrets, I still don't have an Oscar."  Chau Sun admitted that he has not 
seen the films of his competition but he already knew that the strongest 
would be Fat Gor Chow Yun Fat.  When he was nominated no one else would 
dare to accept the award.
	Another winner of the Best Character Performance Award, Chloe 
Maayan thanked everyone for their support.  Her mother came to Hong Kong 
so they would go to dinner to celebrate.  Did Mama give her any review 
after watching her performance?  She said, "Mama said that the film 
reflected a real side of humanity, I contributed to the film with my 
voice, body and appearance."  Has her confidence to win the Hong Kong Film 
Award Best Actress been strengthened?  Chloe Maayan said tha she would 
participate like she would be attending a party.  She would also cheer 
for herself.  She has already seen her competition's films and felt that 
each nominee had a lot of substance.

* (2019/03/16) The Edward Ma Chi Wai, Lam Yiu Sing and Wiyona Yeung Lau 
Ching starred film WE ARE LEGENDS (YUP TEET LUNG)'s subject was mixed 
martial arts.  Ma Chi Wai and Lam Yiu Sing were brothers who grew up in 
an orphanage Jack and Rabbit.  After being adopted by orphanage worker 
Lui Sir (Eric Kot Man Fai) and with the help of Madame Lui (Yuen Qiu), 
they moved into a village gym.  They suffered setbacks in the process of 
chasing dreams, the brothers even turned on each other.  They had to 
completely rely on persistence to succeed!
	Despite all the action, Ma Chi Wai said that fortunately he 
was not injured.  Instead he remembered the fighter weight in scene.  He 
had to drop from the originally 170 some pounds to 155 pounds in a month 
and a half!  Before the shoot he did not drink any water for 30 hours to 
be even lighters from the dehydration.  Not only his urine turned dark, 
he even felt dizzy.  He said, "With so many people watching, I can't look 
bad.  I have to tough it out, after the shoot I immediately 'stuffed' 
down a pineapple butter bun.  You should see how happy I was!  (How did 
you lose weight?)  I had steamed egg, chicken cutlet and vegetable 
everyday until I wanted to puke.  The worst part was seeing the crew 
with roast pork, chicken and rice everyday, I wanted some just from the 
smell of it; everyday I had to work out for 8 to 10 hours, 7 days a 
week.  Yet seeing how great the result was, everything was worth it."
	Lam Yiu Sing heard and said that he was lucky, because he had to 
gain weight from 129 pounds.  Everyday in front of his co-star he kept 
eating rice and chicken legs.  He seemed to enjoy himself but had a near 
death experience.  "In one scene I was training at a Tuen Mun reservoir, 
doing sit up in mid air on a ladder with only a thin rope tied to my 
feet.  When I looked down it was a deep reservoir.  At first I really was 
very scared, it was the first time that I felt my life was in danger 
while making a movie.  However watching the playback I thought it was 
pretty cool!"
	Playing Jack's girlfriend Lili, Yeung Lau Ching was a Brazilian 
Jiujitsu coach.  Because she had to bare her midriff in all her costumes 
she inevitably had to stay on a diet to maintain her curves.  She also 
revealed that in a kicking scene, she lost her balance and even blacked 
out for a few seconds. "Because of an earlier rib injury, my breathing 
wasn't smooth.  I only fell because I was out of breath.  Although the 
fall was minor, the rib was dislocated and required hospitalization.  It 
took half a year to recover."
	All the fighting of course was nothing to laugh about, but the 
three of them admitted that working with elders Kot Man Fai and Yuen Qiu 
was a huge challenge as well.  Ma Chi Wai revealed that the script was 
nonexistent to "Master Kot" because he improvised in each scene like a 
sharp turn for the brain.  Luckily he finally was able to follow the 
Master's dialogue midway through the shoot.  Lam Yiu Sing said that Yuen 
Qiu often provided advice on the set and suggested to them how they could 
fight even prettier; Yeung Lau Ching also praised Sister Qiu as a "warm 
woman".  She constantly praised how tough and capable of fighting they 
were in a very heartwarming way!

* (2019/03/15) Adam Pak Tin Nam and Gregory Wong Chung Hiu two nights ago 
attended HOTEL MASQUERADE's Hong Kong premiere.  Nominated for the Hong 
Kong Film Award Best New Performer with L STORM (L FUNG BO), Adam humbly 
said that he was already happy with the nomination.  His competition's 
performances had more depth than his so he did not dare to think about 
winning.  Instead he would like to work with them on movies.  He also 
said that he was in better shape than before and would not mind showing 
off his muscle.
	Wong Chung Hiu clarified that he did not suddenly grow thin, he 
just changed his hairstyle and grew out facial hair.  Was he worried 
about his contract coming to end with Stephen Shiu Jr.'s company?  He 
admitted that he was but he would positively face it.  He also admitted 
that work would be affected.  Earlier due to indecision he turned down a 
film offer.  Was he concerned about Stephen Shiu Jr. in financial 
trouble?  Wong Chung Hiu understood that Stephen Shiu Jr. already had a 
lot on his mind and did not want to bother him.  "On the 20th we will 
see each other at the International Film and Television Market, then we 
will talk.  However I heard that his company this year won't make a big 
deal, I only hope him would quickly return to form."

* (2019/03/15) The Lam Yiu Sing starred film WE ARE LEGENDS (YUP TEET 
LUNG) two nights ago held its premiere.  Girlfriend Charlotte Cheung Pui 
Lok (Salad) brought her mother to show their support.  Salad joked that 
she was like the "host".  "Seeing so many friends her to show their 
support for him, I sad thank you like I starred in the movie.  Just now 
I saw his father and even introduced him to my Mommy.  It was their first 
meeting!  (When would you consider a wedding?)  I hope our career would 
thrive first."  Lam Yiu Sing this time worked out for the performance.  
"At the time it was like I was on drugs, seven days a week, four hours 
each time!"
	Co-star Wiyona Yeung Lau Ching said that during the shoot she 
had an accident.  "In the scene I was trying for the Brazilian Jiujitsu 
purple belt, but my rib rammed into my opponent's kneecap.  When I got 
home I couldn't breathe, like the rib was stabbing my heart.  I only 
found out it was dislocated after X ray.  (Have you recovered?)  After 6
to 9 months of rest, It's OK!"  Although she played a ocuple with Edward 
Ma Chi Wai in the film, they did not have any intimate scene.

* (2019/03/15) Hanna Chan, Huang Lu, Griselda Yeung Cheuk Na and Alan Luk 
Chun Kwong two nights ago attended the film G AFFAIRS (G SAT)'s premiere.  
Hanna Chan revealed that in the film she and Luk Chun Kwong would have a 
teacher student romance.  Although they did not have any sexy scene 
conceptually it was rather daring.  Has she had a crush on a teacher in 
real life?  She said, "No teacher would be so handsome, on they are only 
in movies."
	G AFFAIRS received many film award nominations but Hanna Chan did 
not received a Hong Kong Film Award nomination.  She admitted that she 
was a little disappointed, if she said that she was not she would be 
lying.  However she felt that the cast and the crew gave 200% to make the 
film, and for that she already felt very happy.
	Mainland actress Huang Lu said that she was not dressed to 
provocatively.  For her Hong Kong Film Award Best Supporting Actress 
nomination, she said that she would choose something even sexy to wear.  
Playing a step mother in the film she did not mind having a teenager 
child and felt that step mother had no age difference.  Huang Lu said 
that she was confident about winning the Hong Kong Film award, but luck 
would also be very important.  The emotions live would be just as exciting 
as a wager, thus she has to start looking for something pretty to wear to 
the event.
	Chapman To Man Chak was asked if he had a lot of bed scenes in 
the film.  He joked, "As a corrupt cop, there weren't too many."
	Huang Lu praised his bed scene skills, able to achieve the result 
without any bodily contact.  Ah Chak said that when he made NAKED 
AMBITION 3D (3D HO CHING) he got advice from many adult video actresses.  
Because G AFFAIRS was a category III film, he tried to avoid contact in 
order to prevent a "misfire".  In the film he had many bed scenes, did he 
need his wife's permission?  Ah Chak joked, "She gave up, after so many 
she is already used to them."
	Natalie Tong Sze Wing complained that Ah Chak did not permit 
Kristal Tin Yui Nei to go on vacation with her.  Ah Chak stated, "Why 
would I!  When the wife goes on vacation, I think 99.9% husbands in Hong 
Kong would agree.  Our husband and wife act has been played for over 20 
years, so we have certain acting experience.  On the surface of course I 
object very much, I would help her pack while tearfully asking her not to 
go.  I would say how much I would miss her.  Of course I have to do all 
those to their fullest."

* (2019/03/15) The Hong Kong fur industry association two nights ago 
held its governor inauguration.  Singers Hana Kuk Chi Kiu and Jennifer 
Yu Heung Yi were guest performers.  
	Yu Heung Yi admitted that she was very nervous, mainly because 
she had little experience of singing live.  She performed the Hong Kong 
Film Award Best Original Song nominee SUN SHINES BRIGHT.  She said, 
"It has been very stressful, I would wake up every two hours.  This time 
was a test of courage."  She also said that everyday she has practiced 
many times.  Because last year she went on the Hong Kong Film Award stage 
to present an award, she felt that the stage was actually very close to 
the audience.  She was able to see each viewer's expression very clearly, 
so she would be very scared.  Although she was a singer, she was 
primarily acting and was not professional enough.  Now she could only 
pretend to play a character.  She pretended that she was Heavenly Queen 
Joey Yung Cho Yi, then got into character and calmly sang.  Past fur 
industry association dinner guest performers, like Linda Chung Ka Yun, 
Ava Yu Kiu and Jinny Ng Yeuk Hei all either got married or had children.  
Yu Heung Yi said, "No way, I hope it will help my career 
a little more.  I want to be able to make a few more movies, maybe in the 
movie I would give birth!"

* (2019/03/14) The 38th Hong Kong Film Awards will take place on the 14th 
next month.  The event yesterday released a promotional short film HOW TO 
FACE DAYS WITHOUT THE HONG KONG FILM AWARDS.  As the short film opened, 
Louis Cheung Kai Chung said that he caught wind this year would not have 
a Hong Kong Film Award.  Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Sandra Ng Kwan Yu were 
both surprised.  This year's nominees including Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin, 
Ben Yuen Fu Wa, Jennifer Yu Heung Yi, Catherine Chau Ka Yi all went to 
the office to get an understanding and even set up camp outside to 
protest!  Inside the office Michelle Wai Sze Nga said that last year the 
opening performance went over budget.  Cheung Kai Chung even revealed that 
it was because MC Jin and Ah Sa's make up and hair cost too much.  The 
film then left the story open ended!

1. TA KUNG PAO, MARCH 14 2019, EAST AND WEST FILM
SAMMO HUNG ALL PURPOSE FILMMAKER

	In Hong Kong film history there have been two THE PRODIGAL SON 
(BAI GA JAI), one was the 1952 Ng Wui directed, Cheung Ying starred Sun 
Luen founding film; the more well known second one was made in 1981, the 
Sammo Hung Kam Bo written, directed and starred film that displayed "Big 
Brother Big" Hung Kam Bo's all purpose film talent. - HUNG KWONG
	The first THE PRODIGAL SON was one of the classic Cantonese films.  
29 years later THE PRODIGAL SON was a big hit that thrived on the popular 
kung fu comedy genre in the 70s, using a solid drama about growing up to 
support exciting fights and comedy.  In addition it also threw in 
traditional Chinese opera elements.  Hung Kam Bo was the soul of the 
film, putting his skills on full display.

Mini Film History
	Hung Kam Bo was chosen to be the 43rd Hong Kong International Film 
Festival Filmmaker In Focus.  Viewers' first impression of him perhaps 
would be from films like SPL (SAT POR LONG) or IP MAN 2 as a rather 
enormous but agile action film star, or perhaps as a member of the 80s 
Hong Kong comedy like WINNERS AND SINNERS (KEI MAU MIU GAI NG FOK SING).  
Actually, those have only been a small part of his film career.  His 
film experience itself has already been a small part of Hong Kong film 
history.
	He was born into a film family.  His grandfather was the multiple 
genre film director Hung Chung Ho, who came from Shanghai to Hong Kong in 
the 30s.  His grandmother was China's first generation female martial art 
star Chin Chi Ngan......with such a family background he was already a 
child star at age nine, which could not be more natural.  After becoming 
a disciple of Master Yu Jim Yuen, he also performed in many Cantonese 
films as a member of the Seven Little Fortunes.  Then in the early 70s, 
Hung Kam Bo was already working as both an actor and an action director.  
From Bruce Lee to King Hu (Wu Kam Chuen), martial art fight films of both 
Northern and Southern styles, his shadow could be seen although often as 
a villain.  For example in this film festival selection screening of Wu 
Kam Chuen's THE VALIANT ONES (LIT CHUNG TOH), he not only was the action 
director bu also played the strong Wokou captain.

Director Of Many Faces
	As a director, Hung Kam Bo's first film was the 1977 THE IRON 
FISTED MONK (SAM TAK WOR SEUNG YU CHUN MAI LOK).  Kung fu films at the 
time, in particular kung fu comedy, were at their height.  Hung Kam Bo 
served several purposes in this film genre's development.  His ENCOUNTER 
OF THE SPOOKY KIND (GWAI DAI GWAI) and THE DEAD AND THE DEADLY (YUN HAK 
YUN) added supernatural elements into kung fu comedy and gave direction 
to the vampire films later.  The big hit THE PRODIGAL SON put together 
the traveling opera troupe stories.  Lam Ching Ying as Leung Yi Tai was 
a sexy and sassy diva on the stage but a serious and righteous Wing Chun 
master off, which was truly unforgetable.  This character undoubtedly had 
shades of Hung Kam Bo and Lam Ching Ying's opera troupe lives.  When Hung 
Kam Bo first studied opera, he started with the diva track.
Capable of Action As Well As Drama
	Aside from costume action, Hung Kam Bo might have excelled even 
more in modern action films.  CARRY ON PICKPOCKET (TAI FONG SIU SAU), 
which he also wrote, directed and starred, brought him the Hong Kong Film 
Award Best Actor.  In the film aside from punches and kicks, he also 
performed sleight of hand.  Unfortunately this film was not chosen in 
this selection.  EASTERN CONDOR (DONG FONG TUK YING), a "Hong Kong 
foreign film" was a rarely seen military film, was even about a secret 
mission of the U.S. military in Vietnam!  Aside from imitating RAMBO (only 
in the end it still turned into resolving problems with punches and 
kicks), this type of Hong Kong film was pitifully rare.
	Also in the 80s, Hung Kam Bo also starred in two dramatic films 
PAINTED FACES (CHUK SIU FOK) and EIGHT TAELS OF GOLD (BAK LEUNG GUM).  
PAINTED FACES actually was about their master Yu Jim Yuen.  Hung Kam Bo 
played his master's life story and won his second Hong Kong Film Award 
Best Actor.  EIGHT TAELS O FGOLD was a pure drama.  He played a prodigal 
son who left home years ago, on the way home he ran into his soon to wed 
cousin and developed a light romance.  His precision performance proved 
that he was truly an all purpose actor, not just agile.
	In comparison to his "Seven Little Fortunes" brethren, and other 
actors who started in the 70s, Hung Kam Bo's family background gave him 
an edge.  Also an actor turned director, he advanced to various areas of 
film creations.  His achievement has been even more well rounded, capable 
of both action and drama.  Interestingly, his grandfather occupied the 
pre 1949 Chinese Opera Film world's two extremes of "upturn" and 
"downturn".  His family's Chinese opera film tradition flowed from 
Shanghai to Hong Kong, then in the 70s and 80s golden age of Hong Kong 
film it reached its glory with Hung Kam Bo.  Of course, from film content 
and creative methods, Hung Kam Bo inherited mainly his grandfather Hung 
Chung Ho's commercial ways of rapid production and folktale expertise.  
This just happened to be the Hong Kong film mainstream for several 
decades.

2. TA KUNG PAO, MARCH 14 2019, THE WEEK IN FILM 
CAPTAIN MARVEL LANDS ON TOP IN THREE PLACES

	In recent weeks the Hong Kong box office's overall condition has 
rather obvious contrast.  Last week the Hollywood blockbuster CAPTAIN 
MARVEL opened, aside from immediately landing on the top spot it already 
made the week's box office rapidly rise from the prior week's HK$ 22.95 
million to last week's HK$ 49.79 million.  With a difference of HK$ 26.84 
million, CAPTAIN MARVEL alone already occupied 78% of the week's box 
office.  "The sole success" situation has had quite a large influence on 
the market.
	Back to the box office, HAPPY DEATH DAY 2U, DRAGON BALL SUPER 
BROLY and THE WANDERING EARTH all rose one spot to second, third and 
fourth place; on the other hand, FALL IN LOVE AT FIRS KISS jumped from 
eighth to fifth place although its box office take was less than HK$ 1 
million.  In addition, two movies in their third week, ALITA: BATTLE 
ANGEL and KURSK fell hard from first and second place to seventh and 
eighth.  Last week only two new films opened, aside from CAPTAIN MARVEL, 
the Lebanese movie CAPHARNAUM made HK$ 350,000 in tenth place.  With 
advanced screenings it made HK$ 440,000.
	This week five new films will open, the horror film ESCAPE ROOM 
already opened in January in the U.S. and made US$ 56.48 million.  It 
opened simultaneously in the Mainland and made 225.93 million RMB; ON THE 
BASIS OF SEX, the costume period film MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS, new Hong Kong 
director Lee Cheuk Pan's G AFFAIRS (G SAT) and the Japanese film KAMEN 
RIDERS HEISEI GENERATIONS FOREVER will round out the week.
	At the Mainland box office, CAPTAIN MARVEL opened at first place; 
the Oscar Best Picture GREEN BOOK rose from fourth to second place, 
seemingly the award attracted many curious viewers; HOW TO TRAIN YOUR 
DRAGON: THE HIDDEN WORLD firmly sat in third place; ALITA fell to fourth 
place; in fifth place was the newly released Japanese animated film 
NATSUME YUJIN-CHO THE MOVIE: EPHEMERAL BOND.  This film already opened in 
Hong Kong in December last year and made HK$ 610,000.
	As for the new releases, the Wang Lutao directed THE AWAKENING 
CALLING FROM LOVE made 1.55 million RMB; the Japanese animated film 
MAZINGER Z: INFINITY made 310,000 RMB.  This film was already released 
in March last year in Hong Kong and made HK$ 760,000.

3. TA KUNG PAO, MARCH 14 2019, LIGHT SHADOW PATH 
THE CHALLENGE OF HONG KONG FILM INDUSTRY 

	Every year the Hong Kong International Film and Television 
Market (Filmart) has become the gathering place for Hong Kong film and 
television product sales and the topic of media coverage.  This year will 
be no exception.  The English language media on the eve of this event 
visisted some filmmakers.  The questions started from simple to in depth, 
without certain "experience" they would be difficult to handle.  Below 
was the content of one of the interviews.
	First, the question that they would certain ask was, what 
direction is the Hong Kong film industry headed toward?  Obviously, Hong 
Kong film companies and Mainland film companies' "co-production" format 
would not change.  Because the market is mainly in the Mainland, Mainland 
companies have distribution advantages.  This type of cooperation would 
continue.
	The second question is, how much development space does the 
Chinese film still have at the market?  This question is interesting, 
how is Chinese film's world market?  For now, the Chinese market still has 
a lot of room for development; as for the world market, aside from art 
films, Chinese films commercially still has not grasped a "way out".  
Then again, aside from English language films, other language film's world 
market seems to be there but is not.  Very few examples were able to 
successfully get a seat (CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON and HERO were 
already considered decent), the time was not right for them yet.
	The third question began sharper.  Looking at this year's Lunar 
New Year films, Hong Kong "big shots'" three films including the Stephen 
Chow Sing Chi directed NEW KING OF COMEDY (SUN HEI KET JI WONG), the 
Jackie Chan starred THE KNIGHT OF SHADOWS: BETWEEN YIN AND YANG (SUN TAM 
PU CHUNG LING) and the Alan Mak Siu Fai directed INTEGRITY (LIM JING FUNG 
WON YIN MOK) were not considered successful; would Hong Kong film be able 
to continue to overcome various difficulties and charge ahead?  Indeed, 
among the Lunar New Year films of the past few years, Hong Kong directors' 
films have been in the forefront.  This year they have been somewhat 
lackluster.  Please remember though, so far among the top ten grossing 
Chinese films in the Mainland, four are still Hong Kong directors made.  
Secondly, Hong Kong directors are highly reflexible.  They did not only 
master convention films but also performed decently with "propaganda" 
films.  Even more importantly Hong Kong films since the 90s have run 
into many dangers and crises.  In the end they still were able to survive 
to today.  Hong Kong film industry's life force should not be 
underestimated.
	Then, what is Hong Kong film's biggest challenge?  This is the 
most basic question.  Hong Kong film's biggest challenge is the lack of 
personnel.  Although "Fresh Wave" and "First Feature Film Initiative" 
have been very effective in discovering some new directors, the effect 
feels like trying to put out a forest fire with a garden hose.  Is
