MISCELLANEOUS * (2016/01/27) The Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Gong Li, Feng Shaofeng, Law Chung Him and Xiao Shenyang starred new film THE MONKEY KING 2 (SAI YAU GEI ji SUEN NG HUNG SAM DA BAK GWUT JING) after its Beijing premiere earlier received rave reviews. Gong Li earlier appeared at the Hangzhou premiere and was called the "most beautiful White Bone Spirit". Viewers praised her well honed acting, which was a pleasant surprise for her. Earlier Gong Li, Law Chung Him and director Soi Cheang Po Shui attended a Hangzhou screening. Viewers braved the cold to catch a glimpse of the "White Bone Spirit". They not only praised Gong Li for her acting but also her beautiful appearance. Her emotional scenes were just as eye catching. Gong Li also excitedly shook hands and blew kisses to the viewers. She said after completing the promotions she will return home to Shandong to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Sing Sing, Feng Shaofeng, Xiao Shenyang and Law Chung Him promoted on a Mainland variety program. As the Spring Festival nears, the team prepared laisee for the master and the disciples. Inside was a series of challenging missions. "Tang Monk" Feng Shaofeng was asked when he will wed. He said, "I still haven't gotten the scriptures yet, now it's not the time." Him Jai and Xiao Shenyang then had the dance task. They both performed. Xiao Shenyang even danced the "Piggy dance". Feng Shaofeng volunteered to teach them the dance routine to ENDLSS LOVE FOR YOU and said that he was the "authentic original version". Sing Sing joked, "Master is very sexy!" The program even prepared a hot pot casserole for everyone, but before it was served Sing Sing had to catch a flight and left. The host joked that Sing Sing was like Sun Wukong on the magic cloud, "Gone the next second"! Although Hong Kong viewers still have not have the chance to watch MONKEY yet, the film earlier released its "On the Eve of the Challenge" trailer. The mysterious "White Bone Spirit" Gong Li also appeared in the character's real form for the first time in it. * (2016/01/27) Best Actor Nick Cheung Ka Fai, Louis Cheung Kai Chung and Lo Hoi Pang earlier worked on the film LINE WALKER (SI TOH HUNG JEH) in a Ngau Tau Kok commercial building for a conference room meeting scene. Although it was just a dramatic scene, Ka Fai looked for the playback after every shot to get an understanding of his performance. He was very professional. He said that this shoot has been very smooth and comfortable because director Man Wai Hung was very experienced and had good arrangement. The action scene has already begun production as well. They just finished a major scale gun fight and the result was very entertaining. Speaking of the Brazil location shoot, Ka Fai revealed that he will leave on the Lunar 4th. Thus during the Lunar New Year holiday he will pay visits to the elders' homes. "I hope this time in Brazil we can shoot some scenes that are rarely seen in Hong Kong films. I expect long distance travel and local crime problems there. (Is your wife Esther Kwan Wing Ho worried?) She seems to have never mentioned that! Actually I am not too worried either. When we go out to make a movie we can easily have 100 people together. As long as I watch myself and don't go to night spots, and shop with a big group of people, I believe it won't be much of a problem." Working with Louis Koo Tin Lok again, Ka Fai said that they had chemistry from all the times before so the shoot has been smooth. On the other hand he worked with Charmaine Sheh Si Man for the first time. "In the film I have few scenes with Ah Sheh. Originally we had a scene but we couldn't get to it due to rain. It's the first time I work with Ah Sheh. We have never worked on a series together at TVB, but I was the older class. She came in after I left." Guest star Cheung Kai Chung worked with Cheung Ka Fai again after KEEPER OF DARKNESS (TOR DEI KUI MOR YUN) and was very excited. "We only have a few scenes together. It's better that way. I would sweat having too many scenes with Ka Fai." He said that if Ka Fai directs again and can use him, he would immediately agree. He also revealed that he will work on his new series before the Lunar New Year. In the show he will take off his shirt again. Thus during the Lunar New Year he will not dare to pig out on turnip cake and poon choi. He hoped that it will only be one scene. "For this scene I have to spends days eating steamed chicken and vegetables. It's like after becoming a stripper it's very hard to shake off the image!" * (2016/01/27) Chrissie Chau Sau Na and Dior Cheng Yi Kin yesterday attended the March film release MY iGIRL (NGOR DIK GIK BUN NUI SUN)'s Beijing press conference. Producer Wong Jing turned into "Jobs Jing" and introduced the "artificial intelligence robot girlfriend" Sister Na, who appeared out of the box. Wong Jing said that this robot in the film had three functions, including chores, heroine and intimate modes. He joked that she was the "future of men". He even joked that being the director was not easy. He could only rely on technology to transition into a product manager and elevate the happiness of the modern people. Ekin was the world's first user of the experimental product. After Ekin launched heroine mode, Sister Na immediately became his shield and avoided the host's chase. After launching the "intimate" model Sister Na immediately leaned on Ekin's shoulder. He even performed a variety of hugs with Sister Na, including Ekin's favorite TITANIC "You jump I jump" hug and princess hug. Sister Na said that the film was completed last year, she never guessed that she would see Ekin again in such a cold condition. "I really feel particularly warm. We even plan to have hot pot casserole with the entire crew tonight. We will be very 'cozy'." Sister Na praised Ekin as the best lover, faithful, attentive and willing to help others. She could not think of any flaw at all. She said, "I feel that the other half not only has to love you and treat you well, but also putting you at ease is also a huge advantage. I believe Ekin has already done that. I too hope that in the future I will be able to met a boyfriend who can put me at ease, love me and provide a sense of security. However it would be the best if he is as handsome as Ekin!" * (2016/01/27) Former Cantonese film actor To Ping has settled in Australia in recent years. Celebrating his 80th birthday today, he held a birthday banquet two nights ago at the Hong Kong Shangri-La Hotel. He invited god son Deric Wan Siu Lun, Ng Man Tat, Wan Kwong, Choi Wo Ping and his wife and former ENJOY YOURSELF TONIGHT cast members Sam Sam, Ban Ban, Lee Tim Sing, Lo Hoi Pang, Yu Mo Lin and Ng Lai Chu. To Ping said that his birthday wish was for friends to have good health and happiness. Unfortunately due to the venue he was unable to invite all of his friends. He said, "I live in Melbourne, this time I deliberately return to Hong Kong for the birthday banquet. I will stay for around two to three weeks, then I will return to Australia for the Lunar New Year." God son Wan Siu Lun said that he has already prepared a birthday gift for his god father. Speaking of his wife giving birth to their daughter last year, he admitted that after becoming his father his life also changed. Lately his daughter has begun to learn to turn. Will he have another child? He said, "I hope to have two more, but it will depend on my wife. Maybe when my daughter is a little older." Ng Man Tat earlier was in recovery for a long time. Although he looked much thinner, he was still in good spirit. Brother Tat said that he has already quit smoking and drinking for his health, but he would not quit playing mahjong. At most he would bet smaller. Earlier Brother Tat was reported to have reduced production due to his illness, so he had to sell a property. He denied and said, "Earlier I have bought a lot of properties with other people. They weren't for living in. Since the price was good we sold it. Luckily my partners know what they are doing because I don't excel in investment." He stressed that he had no financial problems at all currently. Stephen Chow Sing Chi's new film MERMAID (MEI YUN YU) will open soon. He said that he invited him to perform in August, but he turned it down due to his health. He hoped that next time he will be able to work together. He said, "In the past two years I have been in recovery, I hope to return to make more movies soon." * (2016/01/26) Nicholas Tse Ting Fung founded the production company Post Production Office yesterday announced that Digital Domain 3.0 Group's parent company, Digital Domain Holdings Limited has purchased 85% of PO's parent company and will bring in Hollywood latest dynamic video technology to break into the great Chinese region together. The event also set up an experience area to demonstrate top virtual reality and film special effect work. * (2016/01/26) The film MERMAID (MEI YUN YU) will open on the Lunar New Year. Lately director Stephen Chow Sing Chi and the actors have been promoting hard. Earlier during their Guangzhou stop, Sing Yeh also brought his "disciple" Kris Wu Yifan. A guest star in the film, he revealed that once at dinner with Sing Yeh he was asked to play a Parkinson's Disease patient and an uncultured nouveau riche. After the audition he was found to have quite a comedic feel and was offered a role in the new film. Sing Yeh called him "Chief Wu" and described Wu Yifan as "very hard to come by" three times. "When we talk about acting, it is like we are sparring with martial art. He is very focused when he acts, has a lot of talent. When he is free he would read and listen to music at home to elevate himself." * (2016/01/26) The Wong Jing, Andrew Lau Wai Keung produced and directed, Chow Yun Fat, Andy Lau Tak Wa, Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Carina Lau Ka Ling, Nick Cheung Ka Fai, Chris Lee Yuchun starred Lunar New Year film FROM VEGAS TO MACAU 3 (DOH SING FUNG WON III) yesterday afternoon held its Beijing press conference. Wa Jai was unable to attend. The event not only released the film's ultimate trailer but the actors also interacted. In the ultimate trailer, Fat Gor had fun at the expense of his classic film scenes and lines like "I hate it when people poke my head with their finger". Yet after he said that, Wa Jai still daringly kept poking at Fat Gor's head and Fat Gor kept screaming in pain. Later Fat Gor asked Wa Jai to lend him his condor to play with, Wa Jai asked in fright, "Which condor?" Ka Ling in the film teamed up with Hok Yau as the villains. She said, "Actually in FROM VEGAS TO MACAU 3 I am not the villain. I have been working very hard on playing a quiet and beautiful woman. Hok Yau did a lot that I didn't know about." Hok Yau heard and helplessly said, "That doesn't matter, you are all good guys. I am the only bad guy. I am very happy. Because I read in the script that I was the one and only villain I agreed to the role. Being able to act with Best Actors, being able to romance a Best Actress, all my subordinates are so pretty, I am very grateful!" Later the host asked the actors to sum up their production experience with one word. Ka Ling used the word "wish". She explained, "This film enabled me to work with so many gods once and even had a deep romance with two of them. It fulfilled a big wish for me since the start of my film career." Hok Yau chose "love". He said that he was love struck in the film as he had a relationship with Ka Ling. When he sang the film song FREEZE FRAME he also put in the deepest love. Ka Fai chose the word "cool". He admitted that he had a scenes with Fat Gor in FROM 2. This time in FROM 3 he got to act with Wa Jai and Hok Yau. Thus he kept saying "cool". This time aside from dressing up in tight clothing, as a condor and Spider-Man, he would also display his comedic nature as "Dragon". "Actually I have never been fond of Mr. Fa (Dragon), but this time Wong Jing forced me to mess around and Mr. Fa had to return." Fat Gor chose a laugh until you cry emoji in lieu of "joy". He said, "When everyone watch FROM 3, they definitely will laugh until they cry." This production I have with so many new and old friends. During the shoot everyone is overjoyed. In the entire process everyone chatted and laughed, we were very happy." When someone asked about Ka Fai and Hok Yau's resemblance, before they could reply Chow Yun Fat already answered that their relationship was "special". "They are sick, they both ditch their wives to go for hot pot casserole." He even turned into a reporter and interrogated them. Ka Fai stated that he and Hok Yau were good friends and good brothers, but they were not lovers. "I am only interested in women." Ka Ling jumped in and said that Ka Fai and Hok Yau finally found their soulmate in each other. She even revealed that Ka Fai often hummed Hok Yau's songs on the set. Chow Yun Fat immediately asked Ka Fai to sing Hok Yau's hits. Finally Ka Fai could only comply, stood up and sang Hok Yau's classic "KISS GOODBYE". Hok Yau also harmonized a few verses and praised Ka Fai for his decent singing. "He sang the KEEPER OF DARKNESS (TOR DEI KUI MOR YUN) theme song very well, better than even my songs. From now on don't sing my songs anymore!" Hok Yau also daringly expressed his love for Ka Ling, "Actually in real life I like Ka Ling too, unfortunately I can't get her." Ka Ling jokingly asked him why he did not say anything sooner. Hok Yau bashfully said, "Because (Tony) Leung Chiu Wai is a good friend of mine." Ka Ling then asked Lau Wai Keung to make a movie to fulfill their couple dream. Chow Yun Fat humorously said, "Then I will be the villain, but Ka Ling every night would dream of me. Even after this resurrection she is constantly following me, she loves me and not Hok Yau. However I also respect Hok Yau, if he wants her he can have her." Hok Yau was asked about his "Harry Potter" like costume. "Maybe the director felt that I didn't look good in short hair. I felt the long hair wig was a lot of fun, it was like fulfilling one of my wishes because I had a very hard time with keeping my hair long." Lee Yuchun also stated that her "happiness index" greatly elevated for being able to work with so many idols. She even praised Ka Fai for his extra special treatment. She was very nervous about her scene in which she threw cake on Chow Yun Fat's face. "Because I know it would be the first time in several decades that Fat Gor got cake thrown at him, I was so nervous that I clinched my fist as I hoped to throw accurately in one take. Finally I successfully got it in one take!" During the event when Lau Wai Keung humorously admitted that he conned Lee Yuchun to make a "modern" film. Lee Yuchun made fun of his poor Mandarin. "Is it modern or 'pretend to death'?" Xu Dongdong described the new film as "beautiful". "Because in the film I had a tattoo and gamble with Cheung Ka Fai, I felt the appearance looked rather beautiful. My life was very beautiful to have this production experience." Playing a killer Michelle Hu Yan felt that it was very cool and said that she was very honored to be able to work with Cheung Hok Yau and Lau Ka Ling. Bona boss Yu Dong said that he felt very happy to be able to work with the "iron triangle" of Wong Jing, Lau Wai Keung and Chow Yun Fat for several years in a row. He was full of confidence. "In previous years the films made 500 million and 1 billion RMB. This time I am confident that the third film alone will exceed the two predecessors' total of 1.5 billion for a three year total of 3 billion." Wong Jing also was full of confidence in the 250 million investment. "It will break all past New Spring slot total box office revenue." He also pointed out that this time he used 1500 special effect shots, built 10 sets and joked that he almost used all of the available Hong Kong studios. "The colleagues say we are bullies." However he said that FROM 4 2ill not be made next year but they will still work with Chow Yun Fat on another comedy subject. * (2016/01/25) Jingle Ma Chor Sing's TOKYO RAIDERS (DUNG GAING GUNG LEUK) and SEOUL RAIDERS (HAN SING GUNG LEUK) opened in 2000 and 2006 respectively. Actually 3 years ago he already said that he wanted to make AU CHAU GUNG LEUK (EUROPE RAIDERS) but has never been able to find the right actors. Thus the production dragged on and on. Last year Ma Chor Sing and Mainland investor Inlook Media held a Hong Kong press conference last year to announce the projects of the second half of 2015. They even said that Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Gianna Jun Ji-Hyun and Gao Yuanyuan will participate. However nothing came of it. Wai Jai indeed agreed to take the part, not to reprise his previous character but an all new story. To Wai Jai, this type of films is much more relaxing than Wong Kar Wai's films. The production time is short and does not require several years, the salary is the full HK$ 45 million. Thus after he completed Wong Kar wai's FERRYMAN he will work on AU CHAU GUNG LEUK in April in Paris. As for the other actors, Leon Lai Ming, Li Bingbing and Mini Yang Mi as well as several Mainland little fresh meat actors Li Yifeng, Wu Yi and Lin Gengxin were in negotiation. Now that Wai Jai has agreed to perform, finding other actors would probably be easier. Yesterday Wai Jai's management company Jet Tone confirmed that they took the role. "We accepted the film but we are not at liberty to say too much." * (2016/01/25) Artist Linda Wong Hing Ping's father Jimmy Wang Yu was rushed to the hospital after suffering a sudden brain hemorrhage in Thailand. After two brain operations he finally woke up. Linda who flew there three times to take care of her father yesterday called and admitted that her father was hospitalized for a stroke and stressed that his condition was improving. Was he still on bed rest? Linda said, "Daddy is still in Thailand. Now he is much better, he will return to Taiwan very soon. (Is he alert? Can he speak?) OK, he can't speak yet but his eyes are looking around. There is no need to worry, our entire family is very united." She also said that the three sisters have been taking turns flying to Thailand to take care of their father and thanked many friends for their help. Someone would make arrangement for his return to Taiwan. As for the HK$ 2 million medical expense, Linda did not deny it. "That doesn't matter, we have to give him the best treatment. (Will he need physical therapy after returning to Taiwan?) It will depend on his condition. (Will you keep him from going on trips alone again?) Sometimes these things aren't related, I have never liked him flying back and forth." * (2016/01/25) Aaron Kwok Fu Sing in the film THE MONKEY KING 2 (SAI YAU GEI ji SUEN NG HUNG SAM DA BAK GWUT JING) played Sun Wukong. Earlier he and director Soi Cheang Po Shui as well as the Sand Monk Law Chung Him were interviewed together and shared their production experience. Sing Sing admitted that before the shoot he expected the difficulties, which was 100 times more difficult than he expected. Thus this film was the most difficult in his film career. Aside from the difficult fight scenes, Sing Sing's special effect make up added to the pain. He said, "Aside from the long time in make up, I also had to wear a muscle suit to perform. The bottom of the suit was stitched with fishing lines and at least 5000 stitches, but my skin was rather sensitive and couldn't stand even one strand. So at the time I felt like a thousand needles were poking at my heart." The muscle suit was also very stuffy. Although they shot in zero degree Celsius temperature, Sing Sing was already sweating from one or two minutes of dramatic scene. The crew had to grab the air gun to blow between his prop hair and the costume. He remembered in one scene, action director Sammo Hung Kam Bo did over a dozen takes for better results. After a good take, he saw his own sweat flying out and he was stunned. Him Jai also had to perform in a muscle suit and he expected that it would be difficult. However he did not have it as bad as Sing Sing. He still had to fight until he was drenched though and his make up kept having to be fixed on his face. His fight scene with Sun Wukong took a month to shoot. Sing Sing said, "After I fought Sandy and Piggy, they teamed up against me. Actually that was just dessert, the fight against the White Bone Spirit was the major scene. (Would you watch it with the girls?) On the set of course I would, but in character I wouldn't. However she really deserved the special treatment. As an international superstar she had no arrogance at all. She would give a lot of suggestions too. Although it was her first time on the wires, she was not afraid at all. She even had a lot of fun. Even with many bad takes she would not ask for a break in between. This professionalism is very worth learning from." Sing Sing also said that this time he had a lot of emotional scenes, but because of the monkey make up expressions were difficult. Thus he would act more with his eyes. In order to help Sing Sing with wielding the King Kong staff well, the team asked an expert to teach him. Sing Sing said, "That coach started training with a staff at age six. When he wielded it it was all 'zoom zoom', with me it was all 'zip zip'!" * (2016/01/24) According to an Oriental Daily exclusive, famous Shaw martial art superstar and Taiwan actor Jimmy Wang Yu a week ago fainted at the Bangkok airport in Thailand and was rushed to the hospital. Because Wang Yu was by himself, after he fainted at the airport the airport personnel luckily was able to find his Taiwan identification and company card from his luggage and contact his family. His daughter is artist Linda Wong Hing Ping. After Wang Yu was hospitalized the doctor diagnosed him as suffering a stroke. After two brain operations to reduce pressure his condition remained critical. Now his skull was only temporarily sealed but yet "nailed" together in case of a third brain operation. Due to the uncertainty of the condition, the doctor encouraged his family and close friends to fly there to be by his side and keep talking to him to call upon his will to live. His daughter Wong Hing Ping and others have already flown there over night to take care of him at the hospital. According to someone informed, "His condition is a little better, although he can't move at all. He can open his eyes and probably can hear us speak, but he can't speak." Although his condition was more stable, because it remained critical he could not use any medical flight to fly him back to Taiwan for treatment for now. Wang Yu is at a five star hospital's ICU in Thailand, his medical expense has already reached HK$ 2 million. Actually in June 2011 Wang Yu suffered a mild stroke in the Mainland. He almost could not move his left arm. At the time he was hospitalized for two weeks and was released. He did not need a wheel chair. Due to the serious condition this time, Wang Yu's condition has to be stabilized before the doctor can determine any after effect or recovery progress from this sudden brain hemorrhage. Wang Yu's family hoped to keep Wang Yu's hospitalization low key and confidential. Only the closest family remembers and several veteran industry insiders knew about it and visited. Wong Hing Ping has not yet replied. * (2016/01/24) Artist Alex Fong Lik Sun yesterday attended an event. He revealed that during the Lunar New Year he will visit relatives in Beijing but will not bring his girlfriend Stephy Tang Lai Yun with him. "On the Lunar 2nd I have to come back to Hong Kong for an event. I would only stay for two or three days and the trip will be very rushed. It's very cold there, she doesn't need to go every year." Speaking of their film ANNIVERSARY (GEI LIM YUT) making over HK$ 20 million in Hong Kong and Macau, would Siu Fong thank the audience by stripping? He joked, "Stripping would require the boss to take us on vacation first! (When would that be?) Since he is the boss, of course we have to wait until he speaks up." Will he and Stephy work together again? He said, "We are very passive, let's see if anyone asks us." * (2016/01/24) The Donnie Yen Chi Tan starred IP MAN 3 two days ago opened in North America. Chi Tan and former boxing champion Mike Tyson appeared on Extra's outdoor live broadcast at the Universal Studio. Fans even brought boxing gloves for their autographs. Chi Tan on the program turned into "Ip Man" as he and Tyson demonstrated how to "stage fight" to host Charissa Thompson. Tyson pretended to be hurt. Later Charissa reacted to Yen Chi Tan's attack and the "Strongest in the Universe" praised her performance. * (2016/01/23) Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam with the film THE WEDDING DIARY II won the McMillan Woods Global Awards 2016 Most Excellent Actress award in Malaysia. She happily said, "This is my first acting award, which has given me a lot of encouragement. Actually this year I will have some new projects, after three or four years away from music to make movies, I would like to be able to release a record that tells Kong Yeuk Lam's story and share it with everyone!" Ron Ng Cheuk Hei won the "2016 Most Excellent Actor Award". He said that he would like to keep winning awards. * (2016/01/23) The Stephen Chow Sing Chi film MERMAID (MEI YUN YU) will open on February 8, Lunar New Year's Day. The film company released the first production special, KING OF COMEDY TRAINING CLASS. Director Sing Yeh personally taught the actors Deng Chao, Show Lo (Law Chi Cheung), Kitty Zhang Yuqi, Jelly Lin Yun, Lee Sheung Ching and Tin Kai Man "AN ACTOR PREPARES". This special was like a companion to Sing Yeh's 1999 film KING OF COMEDY (HEI KET JI WONG). The most exciting was Sing Yeh's personal performance. He was very strict with his film. Every gesture, "especially expression", had to be its best. Thus he often gave demonstrations himself. The classic line, "Isn't this a salted fish?" brought back a lot of collective memory for Sing fans. Sing Yeh is very persistent with his film quality, stressing that "expression was the most important". He reminded people the classic idea from KING OF COMEDY, "There is a variety of expressions". Sing Yeh in the past has said in some interviews, "An actor can only play one role in every film. When I direct, I am playing every character in the film." The actors expressed their emotional journey after this KING OF COMEDY TRAINING CLASS. The Octopus Law Chi Cheung said, "In order to reach the director's score I have to perform several times. They were hard but a lot of fun." Working with Sing Yeh again, Zhang Yuqi felt that Sing Yeh gave actors an infinite challenge. The "best painter" who appeared as a cop, Leung Sheung Ching even said, "We learned a lot from the director, thank you!" Whether Sing Yeh was pleased with each actor's performance, when the audience saw Sing Yeh cracking up behind the monitor they would have some idea. * (2016/01/23) Taiwan actor Chang Chen and his father Chang Kuo-Chu yesterday attended a film academy master class forum at the Hong Kong Baptist University. He shared with students his film with the late director Edward Yang Tak Cheung, A BRIGHTER SUMMER DAY. The producer Yu Weiyan was also present. Speaking of BRIGHT as Chang Kuo-Chu and Chang Chen's first father and son collaboration, Chang Kuo-Chu stated that the film was a very important stage for them. He said, "This was Chang Chen's first officially completed film, I also officially made a good movie. Director Yang gave Chang Chen a lot of cultivation and was very influential on him. (Chang Chen) was able to use what he learned for the rest of his life. Because I haven't had the training, my acting has always been very rotten." He also said that when he made BRIGHT, Director Yang used a lot of art university students and very little money. He believed that it was quite a revelation to students. He even hoped to have a chance to work on a film as father and son again. Chang Chen said that he was very happy to attend the event and share with students. When he made BRIGHT he was only 13, he has already forgotten a lot. Yet because producer Yu Weiyan was very mean, what he could remember was bad. He said, "Although the production was tough, I hope to be able to share the fun and interest parts for a film production with the students." He said that in the Lunar New Year he will be with his family. In March or April he will make the BROTHERHOOD OF BLADES prequel. He hoped that this year he will be able to make films of different genres. * (2016/01/22) IP MAN 3 held its Los Angeles premiere. Donnie Yen Chi Tan attended with his wife Cissy Wang. Chi Tan has not appeared in the U.S. for awhile and attracted many fans. Many asked for autographs with the film poster and boxing gloves. Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, U.S. rap artist Snoop Dogg and Chi Tan's sister Chris Yen Chi Ching also appeared. The premiere was sold out. Chi Tan said that many friends wanted to attend the premiere but even he could not get a ticket. With the passion of the American fans and the film's Asian box office success, Chi Tan excitedly said, "I am confident that it can break Hong Kong box office records to become te highest grossing Hong Kong film." After the premiere many tough guys left with tears in their eyes. Chi Tan said, "I never expect foreigners to get into it completely. I am very touched. The film is popular in Europe and America, positive energy is enough to affect the people there." Chi Tan hoped that viewers would cherish those around them like Ip Man did. He said that whenever he had time he would spend it with his family. On this American promotion he also brought his wife so they could spend more time together. As of yesterday, IP MAN 3's Hong Kong box office accumulated HK$ 55 million and have hope to break 60 million. Chi Tan at the premiere told Tyson about the Hong Kong, Taiwan and Malaysia record breaking box office. Tyson said at the premiere, "We beat STAR WARS in Asia!" He even said, "If you can't beat them, join them" as he joked that STAR WARS in order to beat IP MAN 3 recruited Chi Tan. Chi Tan will promote in the U.S. for a few days. Tyson would also like to take him to dinner. IP MAN 3 will open in the Mainland on March 4th. Chi Tan will promote in the Mainland in late February. He also invited Tyson to promote in the Mainland together. He even joked that he will treat him to Peking Duck in Beijing, as he hoped to lure Tyson to promote with him. Chi Tan and Tyson spoke to a lot of media in Los Angeles and did a live interview on facebook. Some asked Tyson if his fight with Chi Tan a huge challenge. Tyson said, "I really like to make action film, my performance this time is also the best." Chi Tan was asked if he will make IP MAN 4. He said, "As long as the audience and fans like the IP MAN film series, I can't think of any reason not to keep going. However it still will depend on various coordination like the director, the film company and the story before I can confirm." * (2016/01/22) The Jacquelin Chong Si Man, Anita Chui Bik Ka, Alycia Chan Yuen Hung and Angie Shum Yat Ka starred, Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum) produced new film THE PROMOTION GIRL (PG LUEN OI JI YUEN) is about the lives and love of promotion girls. Two nights ago they attended the film's wrap banquet. Anita denied that she and her co-stars were trying to out sexy each other. "Our uniforms in the film were pretty low cut. We are on even par, we just want to dress prettier for the premiere." Playing a promotion girl she revealed that she often drank with clients in the film, but in real life she rarely drank due to health concerns. Would Anita have any sexy performance in the film? She revealed that she would be half naked in a bed scene with Alan Luk Chun Kwong. She also said that after clearing the set she still felt embarrassed. "Because I was half naked the set had to be cleared. I was very embarrassed and nervous, but after clearing the set many people were still around." Alycia revealed that earlier she lost ten pounds for the film. "I have had this dress for a long time, I lost weight for the movie so I can fit in it. I am wearing it while I can!" She also revealed that in the film she will appear in a bikini. Speaking of her being less sexy than her co-stars, Alycia said that she would not deliberately sell being sexy. "When the character requires me to be sexy then I would, I wouldn't deliberately show off!" Angie revealed that in the film she and Chiu King Ho had a sexy bed scene in the film. She was only covered in a blanket. "The director kept telling me to pull it lower. At the time Chiu King Ho was lying next to me, my heart was beating very fast. I gave him first bed scene and first kiss scene, but during the kiss scene I couldn't hold back my laughter." Angie said that in order to promote the film she postponed her operation to remove a tumor. For now she would take medication to control her condition. Earlier Chong Si Man worked on a Causeway Bay street shoot and had to become a "human chocolate bar" and rehearse with Chen Jiajia. The funniest part most people did not recognize Chong Si Man at first. Later someone guessed it was her and a discussion ensued. Chong Si Man continued to work on the shoot without any awkwardness. Having worked several hours already, Chong Si Man was tired but still boasted about how cute she looked. "I have never worn a character suit before, actually it's pretty tough. From now on I would respect this type of workers more! (Was it awkward?) No! I expected that no one would recognize me. Later make up I even went to an appliance store and a clothing store. Today is a holiday and many Filipino and Indonesian maids are around, they kept trying to get me to talk, maybe they thought I was a compatriot!" This time her character had more tragic experience. Si Man said that she left the pretty girl look for the other actresses. She was not afraid of losing the spotlight. "I have worked with Yip Lim Sum many times, I thank him for arranging a character that is full of breakthrough for me." Anita had a revenge scene with a player Alan Luk Chun Kwong. She chased him down the street. They would even have an intimate scene. "Although I had sexy scenes earlier, this will be the first bed scene so I am very nervous. I will have to ask Luk Chun Kwong for advice." Luk Chun Kwong said, "I am afraid of making these scenes too! Lately I got fat from eating so I have to get back into shpae, but everyone will be staring at Anita anyway! They won't look at me." Earlier Anita stopped working due to illness for several months. Now she has returned to form. * (2016/01/22) Artist Kitson Shum Leung Kit worked on the Gordon Chan Ka Seung new film THE NATIONAL HERO QI JIGUANG in Hengidan. In the film he had many action scenes. He has studied Hung Kuen with Master Sin Kwok Lam for over two years, but with his basic martial art background he still had to accept martial art training. "The training is different everyday, including blade, shield, spear. I learned a lot of new martial arts." In the three month long shoot he would feel home sick. Luckily the team treated him very well. Actor Zhao Wen Zhou often took him out for food. Half the team was Japanese, but the team clicked fully. Shum Leung Kit thus witnessed a real big production. * (2016/01/22) The Andy Lau Tak Wa, Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Carina Lau Ka Ling, Nick Cheung Ka Fai and Chris Lee Yuchun starred Lunar New Year film FROM VEGAS TO MACAU 3 (DOH SING FUNG WON III) will open on February 6th. Wa Jai even performed the film song GUNG HEI FAT CHOI 2016 with Lee Yuchun. This song will add a Lunar New Year rap and an all new beat to the classic song GUNG HEI FAT CHOI. Wa Jai would even perform his own hit SNEAKING AROUND ALONE for a viewers surprise. Yesterday GUNG HEI FAT CHOI 2016 released a music video with film footage to give viewers an advanced look at the superstars' performance in the film. Wa Jai and Lee Yuchun sang together for the first time but was full of chemistry. In the film he played Knight of Gamblers Dagger and God of Gamblers' cousin Ko Fei (Goofy), Wa Jai had to call Lee Yuchun "Goo Goo". In the trailer they even transformed into "the Giant Eagle and its Companion"! Wa Jai said, "To the viewers, we are a group of people they grew up with. They hope to have a family like us to celebrate with everyone during this season of reunion, the Spring Festival." The film also released its production special yesterday. Lee Yuchun praised the presence Chow Yun Fat's God of Gamblers' appearance had. Chow Yun Fat in the film worked with Cheung Ka Fai again and praised Ka Fai's performance as being very open. However Ka Fai said that he did not want the character to have any shade of "Dragon", which was quite a challenge to his acting. Ka Ling in the special revealed that she will be stuck between Chow Yun Fat and the new addition Hok Yau in a love triangle. * (2016/01/21) The Year of the Monkey blockbuster THE MONKEY KING 2 (SAI YAU GEI ji SUEN NG HUNG SAM DA BAK GWUT JING) yesterday held a HK$ 5 million press conference in Beijing. Film stars Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Gong Li, Feng Shaofeng, Xiao Shenyang, Law Chung Him and Kris Philips (Fei Xiang) ran into each other again after the wrap and set off spark. Over 400 Chinese and foreign reporters witnessed the event. As the "Pretty Monkey King" Sun Wukong, Sing Sing praised his on screen rival Gong Li as the most excellent actress. Later he even gave the guests a surprise as he debuted the music video for the film theme song that he performed, film music master Peter Kam Pui Tat scored and Siu Mei wrote the lyrics for, tailored for MONKEY and the Year of the Monkey, IT IS SUN WUKONG. With his 20 years of dance experience Sing Sing sang, danced and fought, even displaying his unique "Golden Monkey Golden Hoop dance". Already trained like the "72 transformations of Sun Wukong", Kwok Fu Sing for the character even began training three months before the shoot. He personally performed the stunts. Speaking of the film theme song, Sing Sing said that he and Sun Wukong shared the same breath and fate. "The similarity may be because he and I both have that stubbornness to be completely focused on completely a task." He also lived up to his "Year of the Monkey spokesman" title as he promoted hard. "Everyone please bring your own Year of the Monkey family and friends to the movies to see THE MONKEY KING 2. I will give away 1,000 Sun Wukong paraphernalia as gifts." The "White Bone Spirit" Gong Li "faced off" with the Venerable Tang Monk and his disciples. She even displayed her "demon queen" nature and joked with them. "Just eating the Tang Monk isn't enough, he's too thin!" Although in the film she and Sing Sing were enemies, at the press conference she let go of her "grudge" and kissed up to him. She stated that when Sing Sing played Sun Wukong she felt that the real "Pretty Monkey King" was born. "His acting is great, as the Sun Wukong he is quite dominating and mighty! However I also feel a little scared, luckily I have the Tang Monk to protect me." She also said that the character was the biggest challenge of her film career. She not only challenged the wires for the first time but also had to expend a lot of energy on the martial art action. At the same time she also had to play the character from age 18 to 81, which was extremely difficult. She still felt it was well worth the effort though as she fulfilled a childhood dream. She said, "When I was asked to play the White Bone Spirit, I knew the time has arrived for me to accept the challenge and fulfill my Journey to the West dream." In addition, Filmko chief Alex Wong Hoi Fung hoped that MONKEY's classic Chinese story will move the audience again and not disappoint the expectation the world has for Chinese film. Feng Shaofeng, Xiao Shenyang and Law Chung HIm yesterday kissed up to Gong Li as well. When Gong Li called Xiao Shenyang "Mr. Xiao Shenyang" he was so happy that he dropped to the floor and pretended fainting from the excitement. Later he also said that on the set he constantly stopped goddess Gong Li from speaking with other men. "Other than my Ma, my wife, daughter, the woman in my heart is my sister (Gong Li). I want to love my sister for life, I love you." The extremely gross words cracked up the audience. Law Chung Him and Feng Shaofeng were much more reserved than Xiao Shenyang. Law Chung Him praised Gong Li as kind while Feng Shaofeng said that Gong Li constantly treated everyone to snacks. * (2016/01/21) Film stars Francis Ng Chun Yu, Ronald Cheng Chung Kei and director Vincent Kok Tak Siu appeared on the cable program Film Montage to promote their new film HOUSE OF WOLVES (NGOK YUN GUK). Kok Tak Siu said that he has already worked with Cheng Chung Kei many times. This time he even tailored the role for him. "This time the character was tailored to him. On the other hand the other jerk character had to pretend to have muscular dystrophy for a long time, which was quite a test for actors. If anyone was able to act and bring out the spirit of a jerk, Chun Yu had to be it!" Kok Tak Siu even said that at first he was interested in asking Chun Yu's son Feynman to perform but he turned it down. Chun Yu joked, "He is an idol, once he had to wear a costume for a shoot. He actually asked if he could wear his own clothes. He even brought his favorite lightsaber on camera." * (2016/01/21) ESun Holdings Limited will work with Multiplex Cinema Limited and yesterday held a press conference at Central. E-Sun group chief Peter Lam Kin Ngok and Multiplex Cinema Limited chief Terry Lai host the unveiling ceremony. Johnnie To Kei Fung, Sammi Cheng Sau Man and Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai) were guests. Sammi said that concert showings at a cinema will be great news in the future and also very innovative. Siu Chai said that the live cinema broadcast will enable even more fans to watch. Yet To Kei Fung was a little helpless. He said, "The times have changed to this, when cinemas have no movie to play. To viewers, more choices are good too." He hoped to broadcast soccer matches, but joked that unfortunately he would not be able to smoke. The best would be playing mahjong in the cinema while watching the soccer match. Host Carol Cheng Yui Ling joked, "Later maybe you can move there." Sammi hoped that in the future movie quantity wil increase. She also said that she really wanted for cinemas to sell egg waffles and roasted squids. Siu Chai said that Taiwan tea eggs would be decent too. Sammi recalled that her first love took place at the movies, but at the time the cinemas were huge. Everyone would secretly date there; She also said that a man felt up her male co-workers at the movies, but he did not dare to say anything. She said, "He didn't dare to speak up even when he got molested." As for live concert broadcast at the movies, did they feel there would be a market? Siu Chai said that foreign singers have done it before. When viewers watch the live broadcast, they may see even more that the live audience will not be able to seen. Sammi also felt that there will be a market and hoped that her concerts could give it a try in the future. However she did not know how the ticket sales will be calculated, and she did not know whether she would get the cinema revenue. Siu Chai also agreed with broadcasting soccer matches at the movies. Sammi joked, "That piece next to me (husband Andy Hui Chi On) would definitely give you business and watch it with a group of friends." Siu Chai's film TRIVISA (SHU DAI JIU FUNG) was selected for the Berlin Film Festival. He was very happy and hoped that the team will head to Berlin then. "Hope" and "Justice" Are My Beliefs 1. MING PAO DAILY, JANUARY 24 2016, FILM WORDS GET RICH FROM THE BIG SHORT, GET TAKEN CARE OF BY MR. SIX THE BIG BEE: Intrigue Galore The Japanese hit THE BIG BEE turns the Japanese nuclear reactor problem into a thriller. The original work was Keigo Higashino's mystery novel, Yukihiko Tsutsumi directs. The story is fictional, ten years before the Fukushima incident an anti nuclear activist hijacks a new advanced helicopter The Big B remotely and threatens to crash it into the nuclear power plant. He demands for Japan to completely remove nuclear power. Yosuke Eguchi and Masahiro Motoki play the dueling heroes in the film that is quite a mystery, even has detective deduction and thrilling scenes like a mid air child rescue. Japan is always better than Chinese films in this type of subjects, but it is still limited to Asian quality and quite far from Hollywood's. I am the most upset at how a child can easily climb into the confidential military helicopter. (three out of five star) MR. SIX: Good Performance From Feng Xiaogang Better is the Mainland hit MR. SIX. Feng Xiaogang this time is the lead actor and not the director as an over the hill Beijing thug boss. In order to save his son he returns to the underworld and faces a new rich kid evil force. Foreign films often have veterans risking their lives again for their children. Liam Neeson's TAKEN film series is a classic example. The Guan Hu directed MR. SIX is wonderfully very Beijing "domestic", rich in Beijing Hutong flavor and lively use of the Beijing slang. Feng Xiaogang's performance is great. He carries a bird cage and love to watch ostriches, he is full of old neighborhood life feel. During his child rescue he suffers from how the times and the people have changed. Lead actress Xu Ching is also good. Among the new generation, Li Yifeng as the son and Kris Wu Yifan as the rich kid are both handsome and cool. MR. SIX has good details, much more entertaining than the MOJIN: THE LOST LEGEND type. However the story is often contrived, in particular the son's sudden escape is too absurd. His relationship with the rich kid's girlfriend also remains unclear. Almost must be mentioned is that this film commends the old Beijing thug's patriotism even as he dies, uncovering the Southern official corruption evidence to Central and seemingly defaming the South to worship the North. (three out of five star) - SHEK KEI 2. TA KUNG PAO, JANUARY 22 2016, FILM AND TELEVISION MARKET TREND THE GOLDEN GLOBES BOX OFFICE EFFECT THE REVENANT with three major Golden Globe Awards caught the public's attention, as it went from its HK$ 3.53 million opening to HK$ 7.14 million last week. This type of awards indeed has influence on the box office. Over two weeks the film made HK$ 10.68 million, which was considered a decent performance for a Western film. Of course this showing could not compare to its U.S. box office of US$ 98.84 million. The Western genre in the U.S. remained rather attractive. The newly released science fiction film THE 5TH WAVE made HK$ 5.42 million in second place; last year's Christmas release IP MAN 3 made HK$ 4.98 million in third place, over four weeks it mad HK$ 53.02 million; ANNIVERSARY (GEI LIM YUT) made HK$ 2.31 million in fourth place, over three weeks it made HK$ 17.97 million; STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS made HK$ 2.29 million in fifth place, over four weeks it made HK$ 79.75 million. New release STEVE JOBS made HK$ 1.46 million in seventh place, with advanced screenings it made HK$1.69 million; the Hong Kong film THE GIGOLO 2 (NGAP WONG 2) made HK$ 1.06 million in eighth place; the 1.6 billion RMB Mainland hit MOJIN: THE LOST LEGEND made HK$ 300,000 in sixteenth place; the Japanese animation ARPEGGIO OF BLUE STEEL -ARS NOVA- CADENZA made HK$ 107,000 in nineteenth place; the Korean comedy SALUT D'AMOUR made HK$ 76,000 in the twenty second place; the Mainland comedy GOODBYE MR. LOSER made HK$ 53,000 in the twenty fourth place. In the Mainland, THE FORCE AWAKENS made 132.77 million RMB in first place. Over two weeks it made 631.84 million RMB; the newly released Mainland animation BOONIE BEARS III made 100.41 million RMB in second place, with advanced screenings it made 129.52 million RMB; Huang Bo and Sun Honglei's JI XIAN TIAO ZHAN made 76.5 million RMB in third place, with advanced screenings it made 76.76 million RMB; the American fantasy film THE LAST WITCH HUNTER made 61.44 million RMB in fourth place; the Barbara Wong Chun Chun directed, Leon Lai Ming and Wang Luodan starred romance THE SECRET (SIU SUT DIK OI YUN) made 40.08 million RMB in fifth place, with advanced screenings it made 41.19 million RMB. Seemingly any film with "vanish" in its Chinese title would not have ideal box office performance. Last November THE VANISHED MURDERER (SIU SUT DIK HUNG SAU) only made 75.49 million RMB. Looking Back At the Taipei Box Office After looking back at the Hong Kong and the Mainland box office, of course the Taiwan box office had to be mentioned. Yet the authorities have not released the box office record for all of Taiwan, we only have the Taipei box office. Last year the Taipei box office had NT$ 4,130,320,000. Among the top ten highest grossing there, JURASSIC WORLD made NT$ 277.66 million in first place; FAST AND FURIOUS 7 made NT$ 257.11 million in second place; AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON made NT$ 204.05 million in third place; OUR TIMES made NT$ 158.25 million in fourth place; MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE -- ROGUE NATION made NT$ 149.87 million in fifth place; KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE made NT$ 131.13 million in sixth place; ANT-MAN made NT$ 127.39 million in seventh place; MINIONS made NT$ 113.44 million in eighth place; THE INTERN made NT$ 111.78 million in ninth place; SAN ANDREAS made NT$ 81.06 million in tenth place. - LAM KAM BO 3. TA KUNG PAO, JANUARY 21 2016, ASIAN FILMS ROCK FOR LIFE Films about music and singing often are films about chasing dreams. The story backgrounds, even the social classes, are mostly about the protagonists can only climb up or fulfill their dreams through music. If we start along this line of thinking, then Japanese director Nobuhiro Yamashita's LA LA LA AT ROCK BOTTOM could be considered out of line. In this film the musicians are either fame or rich. They do not even fulfill any music dream. Singing and playing in a band is only a certain means of escape. - HUNG KWONG LA LA LA AT ROCK BOTTOM's original Japanese title translates to "Misono Universe", a building with restaurant, bar and entertainment venue in Osaka. It is also a location where the band in the film performs. The story starts with a prison release, but the Subaru Shibutani played male lead is already busted open and knocked out before he says a word. When he wakes, he stumbles into an outdoor concert, grabs the microphone from the band's lead singer, sings then faints...... the band's manager takes in the male lead with amnesia, the manager named Kasumi dropped out of school after her father passed away in an accident two years ago and inherited the mini studio that her father operated. At the same time she became the alternative band "Red Dog"'s manager and even had to take care of her senile grandpa. Cannot Escape The Dilapidated Dilemma When Kasumi inherited the studio normally only neighbors came to practice and entertain themselves. This band Red Dog would mostly say classic songs and perform to a small group of fans. When Red Dog's lead singer has an accident, the man with amnesia rushes the stage and everything seems to change. The new blood of the band brings hopes of revival, and Kasumi thus takes in the man with amnesia. Her life also appears to change. Only, when the man gradually regains his memory, people and events of the past find him as hope again seems to become hopeless. Osaka in LA LA LA AT ROCK BOTTOM appears to be desolate. The streets often look empty. Even the "Misono Universe" that can hold 500 people looks much more rundown than in its television commercial. Perhaps this is connected to the film's theme, from the no way out lives of small business, physical labor lower class people are reminds of the Japanese films of the 20s and the 30s during the great economic panic. They were filled with such imagery too. Music is these people's way out, that outdoor concert in the opening has quite the housewife plaza dance flavor. Older couples dance in the middle, while on the stage Red Dog performs soothing classics. Music is the adjustment of their daily lives, talented or not is not important. Even the man with amnesia, though he has musical talent, cannot escape the dilapidated dilemma. As the story develops, the audience would realize that this is a story of two different versions of inheriting the family business. Yet whether they inherit them or not, their lives are not much different. Connecting Music and Filmmakers Maybe because they have no way of changing their lives, these people's attitude toward music is even purer, purely the salvation of life. Singing for the sake of singing, they do not have internal disputes that are often seen in this type of band movie, any obvious romance, the dramatic conflicts are all focused on family. To be more precise it is on the duty of family and the attitude toward life. Music can only become a curse here, pulling the man with amnesia from the responsibility that he should bear for his father. Of course, on the other hand Kasumi due to family duty protects music. This film unlike many music films that give the audience a type of rising hope. It only lets music and singing protect the leads' lives, whether they head toward the road of crime or live ordinary lives. Yet music cannot change their lives at all. Playing the man with amnesia in the film, Subaru Shibutani has his first starring role. As a member of the boy band Kanjani Eight, he once was as famous as Hideaki Takizawa with "Takizawa of the East and Shibutani of the West". His portrayal of the superb singer with amnesia naturally is convincing. Because the character has amnesia and even a head injury, most of the time he looks out of it and reduces a lot of pressure of the first starring role of Shibutani. His performance is suitable. The Fumi Nikaido played Kasumi is much naive than her MY MAN character, which is eye opening. As for the band "Red Dog" it is a real band. They consist of a group of Osaka music students and score for films of directors like Nobuhiro Yamashita and Kazuyoshi Kumakiri. They are all Osaka Art University students. This time on camera they are a part of a big connection between Kansai music and and filmmakers. 4. TA KUNG PAO, JANUARY 21 2016, LIGHT SHADOW PATH MODEST BEGINNING FOR DISNEY Chinese film company merger and acquisition have been rather busy. Most recently the Wanda Group purchase of the U.S.' Legendary Entertainment was the biggest news. When purchasing a famous film company, the company probably have an even better understanding of their internal operation. It will be helpful to future Chinese film productions. The international film market also has another less noticed news, the addition of a new member to the Disney board of directors. He is the sports brand Nike's CEO Mark G. Parker. The writer felt that this item was worth Chinese film company's consideration and learning from. Parker in his youth was a sports shoe designer. Because his advantageous knowledge of the product he successfully led the company to success in the consumer market. Disney felt that his understanding of consumers and experience in the international market was suitable and made him a board member. In other words, Parker's duty might be his contribution to actual business. This is the point that we need to pay attention to. The board additions of Chinese film company were mostly stars. They might star in the company's movies, contribute their star identity but actual company operation and market analysis would not be their strong suit. The company would not benefit in those areas. Star additions to the board often made stock prices rise and helped with speculation. Stock market speculation was a business activity and could not be avoided. Yet speculation was only short term. Long term stock price increase still had to rely on proper management and market knowledge. Choices of additions to the board should be made with that in mind. Many film companies have mentioned that they wanted to be China's Disney, but their activities have been mostly in merger and acquisition. Very few would focus on management and operation improvement. Some companies have very high market value and operated like a family business, if they continue this way they would never become China's Disney. Chinese film box office has risen for several years in a row. Film company business performance has covered up some operation problems so few would care. Yet this phenomenon sooner or later would be detrimental to the film company. Because they could not become a big studio like Disney, they had no company culture, scale, or foresight. The trend of grabbing actors and directors has made film companies passive. One of the reasons was the lack of any long term collaboration chemistry, even more importantly the film company's management and operation did not have any breakthrough advantage. The company could not become a brand and has not put in any effort into it. In turn as actors and directors drove projects, where the "financing' came from no longer mattered. "Big studios" like Disney was not built in a day. Their every little move actually had meaning and was worth learning from. - TIN LIK [ In Production Now/Soon ] Can : Wong Pai Dau Wong Pai d. His second cousin Mo-seung comes to his house on that same evening, and entirely devours an elaborate gourmet banquet which So had intended as a gift for Leng on her otherwise disastrous wedding anniversary. From that day on, So and Mo-seung are constantly at loggerheads over trivial issues, insulting each other with vulgar metaphors during a mahjong game session, apparently irreconcilable. Foon is a local radio DJ who flirts shamelessly while on air and is well-known among his legion of female fans for his impressive kissing technique. Holli-yuk calls him on air one day and arranges a date with him. She is an avid Hollywood movie lover who enjoys re-enacting particular love-scenes from movies. She is convinced that Foon shares her romantic outlook and they soon become lovers. Foon, however, is a notorious playboy not eager to settle down. Predictably, Holli-yuk catches him in an act of infidelity. After a freak accident leaves Foon suffering from a mildly debilitating mental illness, Holli-yuk offers to become a nurse for him. Taking advantage of her role as his nurturer, she gleefully devises methods to punish him for his callous behaviour. The brothers' dilemmas are later resolved in similarly titled sequel films. Each story concludes on a cheeky and high-spirited note. LET'S EAT Can : Hoi Fan La! d.
