MISCELLANEOUS * (2013/10/23) Kenneth Ma Kwok Ming who has appeared less frequently in public actually has already gone to the Mainland to work on the Jackie Chan produced, Frankie Chan Fun Kei directed YUEN LOI SI YAU HEI. Ma Kwok Ming in the film played a lawyer, Chan Fun Kei's daughter Chan Hoi Sum (stage name Chan Yu Shu) played one of the female leads; because Ma Kwok Ming caught Jackie Chan's eyes, he was rumored to be offered 3 million in salary. Jackie Chan has also visited the set. Although Ma Kwok Ming and other artists were not too familiar, he still got into the production. Later he even hoped to make time to return to Hong Kong and promote THE HIPPOCRATIC CRUSHES II. * (2013/10/23) The Juno Mak Chun Lung directed film RIGOR MORTIS (GEUNG SI) two nights ago held its premiere. Actors Kara Hui (Wai Ying Hung), Anthony Chan Yau, Chin Siu Ho, Lo Hoi Pang, Nina Paw Hee Ching attended. Nick Cheung Ka Fai, Yuen Wah, Shirley Kwan Suk Yi, Monica Chan Fat Yung, Chin Kar Lok and Ada Choi Siu Fun also showed their support. Paw Hee Ching said that during the shoot Juno permitted actors to use foul language freely in their performance. Lo Hoi Pang added, "Actually Juno likes to use foul language on the set, which is right up my alley. When I perform I would out of the blue get foul mouthed in front of the camera." Juno awkwardly replied, "This segment didn't make the print, I saved it for my own collection." Wai Ying Hung revealed that she argued with Juno during the shoot. "He asked me to perform an arm dislocation effect, I reasoned with him and demonstrated with his arm. He found out it hurt and switched it to post production." She also complained that during the shoot she had to remove her clothes and get hosed down in the open in an abandoned market, which almost made her cry. However after watching the screening she was very pleased with the result and even praised Juno as talented. In the future they will be able to work together again. Juno said that the box office and the film's Taiwan Golden Horse Award nomination performance would be difficult to predict. Will his girlfriend Janine Tai show her support? Juno said, "I don't know, my parents aren't in Hong Kong so they can't attend." Choi Siu Fung earlier went on holiday in Thailand with her daughters, her mother and aunt while her husband Max Zhang Jin was busy with RISE OF THE LEGEND (WONG FEI HUNG ji YING HUNG YAU MUNG) in Shanghai and did not come along. However he covered the trip. She said, "Hubby was a little unhappy that he didn't get to go, he even said that I was bad. So I asked my daughter to tell him to focus on work and making money on a voice mail." She later will return to work in the Mainland despite the near kidnapping earlier. "I have worked in the Mainland for 10 years. I am very familiar with the situation, I have not side effect." At the premiere Choi Siu Fun ran into her Best Actor friend Cheung Ka Fai and traded verbal jabs. Cheung Ka Fai jokingly said to Choi Siu Fun, "Don't come if you are not here to watch the movie!" He then pulled down Ada's hat, which made Ada slap him back as they behaved like children. * (2013/10/23) Raymond Lam Fung in the film BABY BLUES 3D (3D NGAI YING) played a record producer. In order to find inspiration to create a song of death he almost tortured himself into a near death state. In one scene he went to the swimming pool and put his head in the water, held his breath for over 1 minute and almost suffocated. In another scene he imitated the Death tarot card and hung upside down. "The shoot had to stop every 30 seconds or so because veins were popping out on my forehead and my eyes were blood shot suddenly. All the getting on and off the bar was very physically exhausting, like I was working on an action film." Lam Fung during the shoot was training for his concert. This scene also displayed his 6 pack abdominal muscles that he has worked very hard on. Later Lam Fung handed to song to the Kate Tsui Tsz Shan played singer to perform, which reminded her of her first recording studio experience. In reality last year's THE VOICE OF CHINA winner Momo Wu (Ng Mok Sau) performed the song. * (2013/10/22) Chapman To Man Jat has been working on the film NAKED AMBIITON 3D (HO CHING 3D) in Japan. Everyday he faced the group of adult video actresses, which made him the envy of many. After working with two Japanese actresses, the 42L Anri Okita and the 35D Yui Tatsumi in bed, two days ago he also posted photos from work on Instagram and facebook. In a mushroom head wig, Ah Jat put on a pair of black framed glasses to play a tutor and sat next to the 22 year old 34D Ai Ishihara. Ah Jat said, "In the story I am a tutor who teaches a Japanese girl then plays corporal punishment. After the corporal punishment the girl's mother returns home and deals with me." However he refused to discuss how the girl's mother dealt with him. He even took the chance to tell viewers to go to the movies and see for themselves. Perhaps Ah Jat's opportunities to get close to the actresses made many online jealous, he complained that after posting work photos he suddenly faced online gang attacks. They yelled at him for leading children astray. Ah Jat immediately struck back and said that he did not want anyone who did not want to watch. He also said that even his mother could not deal with him. "Because I wouldn't give up people who like me for idiots like you!" Ah Jat also said that only he knew about his own pain. In addition the actresses immediately left after the shoot, so they were not too familiar. He said, "Their manager is very strict and prohibits them from privately exchanging photos and contacts. He also would check their email. However they are really very professional; but because they have never worked with 3D, earlier when Anri Okita saw her chest flew out during playback she was very excited." * (2013/10/22) Kelly Fu Ka Lei and Elva Ni (Ngai Sun Hei) yesterday attended an event. They both said that the event arranged for their clothing and they had no intention to try to be sexier than the other. Fu Ka Lei admitted that she was very excited about being at the same event as Aaron Kwok Fu Sing. "I really like Sing Sing's films and concerts, I hope to have a chance to get a picture together. I am not worried about rumors. (Who is more handsome between Sing Sing and Ron Ng Cheuk Hei?) They each have their own masculine flavor." Ngai Sun Hei said that lately she participated in many audience appreciation events for her film THE BEST PLAN IS NO PLAN (KAU NUI BUT LEI SAM HING DAI) and frequently stepped foot in Mongkok. Due to the decent film box office, she did not mind appearing in swimsuit to thank the viewers. For work she absolutely was willing to lower her sexy bottom line. * (2013/10/22) To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Anita Mui Yim Fong's passing, TVB's ANITA FOREVER 10TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT will air in two parts. Two nights ago the first part was aired and had an average rating of 23 points. Guests included Wu Wai Hong who competed in the same New Talent contest as Ah Mui, her disciples Patrick Tam Yiu and Denise Ho Wan Si, as well as friend Anthony Lun Wing Leung, with performances by Mag Lam Yun Tung, Ivana Wong Yuen Chi, Hins Cheung King Hin, Gin Lee Hung Ngai and Angela Hui Ching Wan. Some blasted the program online as they commented that they would rather TVB played Anita Mui Yim Fong's music videos again. Even Aaron Kwok Fu Sing's manager Siu Mei could not help but criticize the program for lacking sincerity, being hypocritical and very disappointing. Shu Qi's former manager posted online, "I am very upset at the Mui Yim Fong memorial program today. It cannot be more careless, it is so insincere that it may as well not be done." Siu Mei agreed that the program lacked sincerity, in addition some who never had any contact with Ah Mui were discussing their feeling. It was very hypocritical and very disappointing. Lun Wing Leung felt that singers who performed the songs did not know Ah Mui and lost the memorial meaning. "Actually I lamented it very much, the program had few singers who were connected to Ah Mui. It should have found more friends who knew Ah Mui to participate. However the younger generation performed decently, which was somewhat comforting." Some online would rather relive Ah Mui's classic footage. Some questioned the singers' performance quality of Mui Yim Fong's classic songs, as Lam Yun Tung and Lee Hung Ngai sadly became targets. However, some also supported the singers' performances as having heart. The program was to remember Mui Yim Fong and not an impersonation contest. Many also praised Tam Yiu Man's performance. * (2013/10/22) Carrie Ng Ka Lai accepted a TELLING MARIA 2 interview. She graduated from the 10th TVB Artist Training Class, her classmates included Tony Leung Ka Fai and Anthony Wong Yiu Ming. In 1993 with REMAINS OF A WOMAN (LONG SUM YU TEET) and with THE KID (LAU SING YU) in 2000 she won the Golden Horse Best Actress and the Hong Kong Film Award Best Supporting Actress respectively. "Because of my sex symbols of long hair and red lips, I was labeled a bad woman. In THE SEASONS (GWAI JIT) I played a third party who got in between Ngai Kwok Leung and (Meg) Lam Kin Ming, on the streets people pointed at me and yelled at me for stealing someone's husband." Ng Ka Lai has worked with many male artists on love scenes, including a bathing scene with Chow Yun Fat in CITY ON FIRE (LUNG FU FUNG WON). She has kissed stars like Andy Lau Tak Wa, Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Simon Yam Tat Wa. The most memorable was her kiss with Leung Ka Fai in SENTENCED TO HANG (SAM LONG KEI ON). "We were too tense, we only found out after the shoot that our lips were bleeding from the kiss." Ng Ka Lai recalled her romantic history. Her widely known relationship with inspector Wong Wing Kei ended when a third party appeared. She also admitted that she questioned her own sexual orientation after a kiss scene with an actress. * (2013/10/21) The "Devil Chest" Rainky Wai Yu Sum starred film about compensated dating two days ago released its trailer, which was rather daring with many nude, sex, violent and foul language scenes. Super Girls member Heidi Lee Jing Yi and Chrissie Chau Sau Na's junior colleague Kabby Hui Nga Ting also dropped their innocent image. Conceivably many fans would be staring. Fellow film industry new comers Rainky and Kabby had many revealing scenes. Rainky appeared in lingerie and displayed her proud figure numerous times. Playing a compensated dating girl she "at work" was crushed under a fat man, then was viciously beaten and kicked in the belly. In another scene she and a client exchanged a look in the bathroom, then an actress was topless behind frosted glass. Playing Irene Wan Bik Ha's daughter, Kabby was generous with her back and side bust. In the film after being kidnapped she was gang raped, battered and bloodied. Without any passion scene Heidi relied on foul language to steal the spotlight. Aside from nude scenes, Rainky even played a mute girl and had many emotional scenes. As for the daring performance, Rainky said, "I hope the outside pays attention to our acting, because we have many realistic tear jerking stories. We even have real injuries all over from the shoot, our sacrifices are enormous!" Rainky said that later the identity of the topless actress will be announced later. * (2013/10/21) Artist Juno Mak Chun Lun's directing debut RIGOR MORTIS (GEUNG SI) not only received three Golden Horse Award nominations that included the Best New Director, but also the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival Best New Director nomination. This film also was selected to be the Tokyo Film Festival "Asian Future" opening film. Japanese trendy godfather Hiroshi Fujiwara even took time to attend one of the screenings in support. Juno was very appreciative of the film industry encouragement. "At the Tokyo Film Festival opening ceremony the venue was too large to find any old friend, today luckily I ran into Hiroshi Fujiwara!" * (2013/10/21) Andy Lau Tak Wa with the film BLIND DETECTIVE (MAN TAM) won the 46th Stiges Film Festival Best Actor award. Wa Jai recently could not be busier with his concert, when he learned about the award he still could not hide his surprise despite being too exhausted to react. He in particular thanked Johnnie To Kei Fung, Wai Ka Fai, Yau Nai Hoi and Sammi Cheng Sau Man. Wa Jai said that because of this perfect team of "Four Great Heavenly Kings" he was able to win this award. He also felt honored to be recognized by the Spanish jury. Wa Jai and Cheng Sau Man's collaboration in BLIND DETECTIVE has received praises. Cheng Sau Man received a Golden Horse Award Best Actress nomination and this time Wa Jai won in Europe first. In addition, Ang Lee in his Golden Horse 50 interview revealed that when he attended the Golden Horse Award he went to the bathroom with many stars for the first time. He recalled when he was nominated with PUSHING HAND in 1991, he went to the bathroom and ran into superstars like Jackie Chan and Andy Lau Tak Wa. They exchanged a look and a smile, At the time he thought, "Life is still pretty good, with so many stars going to the bathroom with me." * (2013/10/21) Sean Lau Ching Wan, Huang Xiaoming, Alex Fong Chung Shun, Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen), Fiona Sit Hoi Kei, Nina Paw Hee Ching, Michelle Wai Si Nga, Bonnie Xian (Sin Sik Lai), Paulyn Sun Kai Kwan and others yesterday attended the Derek Yee Tung Sing and Law Chi Leung produced, Lee Kuan Yew directed film INSANITY (BO FUNG YU) wrap press conference. Ching Wan in the film played a schizophrenia patient who beat his on screen wife Yip Shuen to death and even tossed her out to the streets; Ching Wan was unwilling to even think about really hitting Yip Shuen during the shoot. Yip Shuen pulled up her right sleeve and bruises could still be seen clearly. Ching Wan pointed out that this time was the first time he hit a woman in his film career and it would be his last time. From now on he would not do it again. Ching Wan said, "I am very afraid of hitting people, especially women; I feel very uneasy inside. Not only in real life I have never hit a woman, I have never done it either on film. This scene took 4 days to shoot, every time I would ask Yip Shuen to use more padding because I couldn't hold back. Showing mercy would make the scene not realistic enough. After every shot I would feel where the pads were on his body, as I was very afraid of hurting her. Earlier she and I worked on another film and I kicked her." "Mother in law" Paw Hee Ching slapped Ching Wan on her daughter's behalf. When asked if she was the "Bus 14 Hong Kong Mother", Sister Paw said, "No, but I didn't want a bad take. So I could just hit for real." Huang Xiaoming said that during the shoot the enormous pressure made him ask why he was alive, why he worked hard and kept working hard. He was very stressed and once suspected that he was depressed. He called his manager to throw a tantrum and complain. He said, "No one pay any attention to me, I could say that I was very in character. Everyday I was crazy and mad like this. (Would you throw a tantrum with your girlfriend Angelababy Yaing Ying?) I swear that I wouldn't yell at or hit women in my life." Paired with Xiaoming in the film, Fiona admitted, "Seeing Xiaoming is like looking into a mirror and seeing the horrifying look of when I had depression. I kept a diary, now looking back I thought I was very scary back then. (Did you loan it to Xiaoming to help him with the character?) It's very private, only those who have known me for more than 10 years could." * (2013/10/21) Karena Ng Chin Yu yesterday promoted her film BABY BLUES 3D (3D NGAI YING) in Ocean Park. She said that her boyfriend Raymond Lam Fung was more terrified in the haunted house than she was. "This Halloween I want to dress up with Lam Fung, I want to put on so much make up that no one would be able to recognize me." Ng Chin Yu's birthday will be on the 27th, she will be promoting in the Mainland and would not know whether her co-star Lam Fung would go. "I don't want Lam Fung to give me any surprise party, I just want to have a simple dinner." What would she like for her birthday? Ng Chin Yu said, "It's the thought that counts, I can't ask for specific gifts. Only planning on your own is thoughtful." * (2013/10/21) 40 years ago Bruce Lee passed away in Ting Pei's home, which led to a variety of speculations. Ting Pei suffered pressure from all the talk. Yesterday she stressed during her Radio Hong Kong interview that Bruce Lee passed away in his sleep. She hoped that everyone would respect his choice and not the disgusting rumors outside. As Bruce Lee's girlfriend Ting Pei said, "I believe he liked me more than I liked him, because Bruce Lee constantly praised me." Everyone was concerned with the truth between Bruce Lee's passing at her home. They were rumored to be in an intimate act during it, and drugs were rumored to be involved as well. Ting Pei said, "I have heard many ugly rumors about sex drug or Spanish Fly, I have heard them all. Actually he passed away in his dream, he was very lucky. Bruce Lee at the time said that he felt somewhat unwell, had a little headache, took some pain pills and rested for awhile. I want to say, pain pills aren't strong enough to make people go 'bye bye' like that, otherwise the drug company would have to bear a lot of responsibility. I have never heard of anyone die from making love." Bruce Lee's death made the then 26 year old Ting Pei face a lot of pressure and unfairness. Yet when she saw the items that Bruce Lee left her, she felt it was very meaningful. They included the Jeet Kune Do founder badge, many English music groups' tapes. Every time she was having a hard time she would listen to them and thus felt encouraged. Ting Pei has always kept the bedding that Bruce Lee used. Yet due to improper handling she threw it out a few years ago. Were they in love? Did she want to be Mrs. Lee? Ting Pei said, "I was young at the time, I never thought about destroying someone else's family. We got along, Bruce Lee liked me. If I didn't like him I would have to be nuts! I remembered at the time he trained himself to the limits, I have heard he saying that he was very tired. Sometimes life was destined, but his death was more painful to me than death itself. I hoped to pass on what he did not finish, I am like a female Bruce Lee. I am his disciple, Bruce Lee is inside me, we are already one. We are connected in life and death, I can't disappoint him." Ting Pei said that after Bruce Lee's death, his wife Linda approached her. They respected each other. She was very refined and never blamed her. * (2013/10/21) Simon Yam Tat Wa and Sam Lee Chan Sam in their new film THE CONSTABLE (CHUNG FUNG JIN GAING) played cop and robber. They joked that director Dennis Law Sau Yiu did not care about their feeling, insisted on them personally performing dangerous stunts and tried to kill them. "After having a family, we have a lot of pressure when we make dangerous scenes. From now on we have to consider them carefully." Yam Tat Wa said that the director wanted to capture a thief in a place that was 10 stories high and only 1 meter wide. His legs went numb. "When I was young of course I had no problem, back then when I made GUN N' ROSE (LUNG TUNG SEI HOI) with (Alan) Tang Kwong Wing, we fought on wires from the 35th floor and we weren't scared. Now I am afraid because I had to run 50 meters in pursuit of the thief. The thief had no 'wire' and I was worried for him. The mental pressure was enormous." Law Sa Yiu chimed in, "Indeed it was very dangerous, the wires would very likely snap." Lee Chan Sam who has not made an action film in awhile had to jump from the third floor to the streets. "I sat down for it to sink in, but the director said that I have already sat for a long time. It was time to jump." He said that when he was little he was not afraid of heights, now with a family he was. The director wanted Maggie Siu Mei Kei to use the heaviest gun in pursuit of a thief. She felt that she could not handle it. After two shots she already had to rest. Yam Tat Wa joked that with the nourishment form love she was much stronger. Powerless to strike back, Siu Mei Kei could only smile sweetly. Siu Mei Kei worked with Andy Lau Tak Wa on a costume film before, they had to jump from the first floor. Because at the time they had no wire, she did not dare to jump. However Lau Tak Wa just jumped and took her with him without a second thought. Playing a drunk girl, Mia Chen Jing Yi was being harassed. In the end Brother Wa lent a helping hand. Brother Wa said, "When I made this scene the director kept grabbing me and told me not to go over there yet." Law Sau Yiu said, "I was just tense from watching, originally if you didn't appear there would have been a lot more to see. As soon as you did there was nothing to see." * (2013/10/20) Film star Jackie Chan earlier in a foreign media interview revealed that the soon to be 60 year old had injuries all over due to years of action film productions. In the future he might need to rely on stunt doubles and hoped that the audience would be able to forgive him. Jackie Chan also revealed that he longed to make a dramatic film but no one has made him an offers. Earlier he attended the film CZ12 (SUP YI SUN CHIU)'s Los Angeles premiere and revealed that he and director Ang Lee were discussing scripts. * (2013/10/20) The Hong Kong Directors Guild and the other affiliated organizations yesterday held a press conference in Kwun Tong to protest against the lack of transparency in the government's free television license issuing and demanded the government to address the public suspicions behind th reasons of the license rejection. Attendees included Derek Yee Tung Sing, Alfred Cheung Kin Ting, Ng See Yuen, Philip Chan Yun Kin and Joe Cheung Tung Cho. Hong Kong Film Directors Guild permanent honorary chair Ng See Yuen stressed that this time they were not only supporting a certain person or a certain television station. They felt that the incident has already turned into a community matter. He pointed out that many film professionals started in the television industry, thus the film industry had the duty to express its objection as it hoped to provide opportunities for the next generation of the creative industry. Yee Tung Sing pointed out that the government had to quickly explain the reasons behind the license rejection. He felt that the original intent of adding free television licenses would be able to cultivate even more talent. Yet the process was a black box operation, and he worried that there would be no way to elevate television program quality. He said, "If I don't have any feeling for Hong Kong, today I wouldn't say this. The Hong Kong government often is just talk and doesn't act, making Hong Kong young people less prepared to compete than the Mainland's. Now instead I miss Tung Chee Hwa (former chief executive). He supported the film industry, but now the government doesn't at all." He also said that he has not watched a television series in 10 years and stated that he felt that they were not entertaining. He said that none of Ricky Wong Wai Kay's employees has asked the film industry for assistance. * (2013/10/20) Ting Pei who was linked to Bruce Lee faced a lot of talk and pressure when Bruce Lee passed away in her home 40 years ago. She once said in an interview that at the time Bruce Lee and Raymond Chow Man Wai were discussing GAME OF DEATH at her home. Bruce Lee had a headache, so she let him lay down on the bed for awhile and gave him some pain killers. Chow Man Wai then went to pick up a friend. She on numerous occasions wanted to publish a book to discuss her relationship with Bruce Lee. Recently Ting Pei appeared on a Radio Hong Kong program and shed tears emotionally when she talked about Bruce Lee. She on the program said that she did not like to think of Bruce Lee, her mother did not like him too much either and she never thought of becoming Bruce Lee's wife. However whenever she listened to the tape that Bruce Lee gave her, she would gain strength from it. * (2013/10/20) The "Strongest in the Universe" Donnie Yen Chi Tan produced, action directed and starred film SPECIAL ID (DUT SHU SUN FUN) two nights ago held its premiere. Yen Chi Tan appeared with his loving wife Cissy Wang in tow. Also in attendance were Ronald Cheng Chung Kei, Nina Paw Hee Ching, Ray Lui Leung Wai, Wong Jing, Peter Chan Ho Sun, Wang Yuanyuan and her boyfriend. Yen Chi Tan said that co-production was very hard to make because it had to meet both Chinese and Hong Kong viewer tastes. Now the film is finally released, he could breathe a sigh of relief. As for the box office, he said that it would depend on timing, location and people and not up to him. In addition, SPECIAL had endless troubles. Early in production, Yen Chi Tan and Vincent Zhao Wenzhou got into a dispute. The later even had his contract terminated and a battle of words between both sides ensued. Yen Chi Tan earlier in a Guangzhou film event stated that he would not work with Zhao Wenzhou again. Two nights ago Chi Tan obviously did not want to talk more about the subject. "It's ancient history, in the past. (No room to turn around?) From the start I kept my silence, I only spoke up after I kept being asked. I am very busy with work, if I have time to argue I might as well go home and have dinner. The greater good should be what is important." Earlier Zhao Wenzhou was rumored to have hired internet thugs to vilify him and SPECIAL ID online. Was he worried that further online negative attacks would affect the box office? He said, "There may be some effect, but now viewers are very smart. The most important is not to turn the matter into a China Hong Kong conflict. Online violence is considered a psychological attack, I know that both Chinese and Hong Kong governments have policies that target online violence. I have already done my job, I can answer to everyone. I hope that there will not no more unpleasantness." Would he accept if Zhao Wenzhou apologized? Chi Tan said, "It's not an apology to me alone, but an apology to many innocent people who were connected. Film is a group collaboration, I have made movies for 31 years, I have never seen something like this happen." Cheng Chung Kei also brought his wife Sammi Yu Sze Man. Why did they not bring their daughter? They joked, "If we brought her no one would need to watch. We are afraid that she would scream loudly, which would be very awkward." Yu Sze Man also said that her daughter was a homebody. Once they took her out to dinner. After she was done she wanted to go home. Finally they had to send her home first before they could continue their meal. The film DAI WA TIN SIN halted production 3 years ago due to funding problems recently was completed with doubles and would be released. Cheng Chung Kei who was in the cast said, "I don't know if my part was completed with a done. Back then I only shot half of it when the director stopped." He revealed that at the time he charged for however much he made. He did not need to worry about the use of a double affecting her reputation, instead he was very curious who his double was. * (2013/10/20) Priscilla Wong Chui Yu yesterday attended a MCL Star Academy Chinese film forum. She revealed that the event will screen her first film I LOVE YOU, MOM (MA MA NGOR OI NEI), in which she and Gigi Wong Suk Yi played a mother and a daughter at odds. Chui Yi grew up with her dog and later made up with her mother. Wong Chui Yu said, "The film was made several years ago, I haven't seen it yet. Because when it was released I was overseas, I never had a chance to watch it. Back then I worked without make up, it was a movie about everyday life." Would she be interested in another film challenge? She said, "I never thought about this question, being an actor is like a tool. When others feel you are useful, they would use you. (Rising popularity helps with a raise?) No, I have always been very cheap. Hurry up and use me." * (2013/10/19) Director Jeff Lau Chun Wai recently complained online that around three years ago his Mainland film DAI WA TIN SIN due to financial issues halted production. Recently one of the investors supposedly asked another director to wrap up production with doubles to complete leads Betty Sun Li and Dior Cheng Yi Kin's remaining scenes. Cheng Yi Kin's manager Sandy Lam San San was surprised, "No way, so classic? I will get an understanding." San San said that Ekin back then indeed took the role but only worked on very little of it. "At the time they said it will be rescheduled, but nothing came of it in the end." * (2013/10/19) Donnie Yen Chi Tan two days ago attended the film SPECIAL ID (DUT SHU SUN FUN)'s Guangzhou premiere press conference. Recently an actor salary chart that surfaced online rumored that Chi Tan led with 30 million. Although he did not directly respond, during the financial storm his account only had 100 bucks. He could only borrow money from promoting film company products. He also said that the market determined salary, no matter how much it was his work ethics would not change. Near the end of the event a reporter mentioned his rumored dispute with Vincent Zhao Wenzhou, he admitted that at first he personally invited him to make the film. Later due to issues he personally negotiated with Zhou's manager, who proceeded to attack him. "They said that we were at a war of words, I never responded. I think I won't work with Zhao Wenzhou again, because he owes viewers and the people who were hurt an explanation." * (2013/10/19) Chapman To Man Jat yesterday attended an "ant slavery day" press conference. Earlier he invited his friend Fiona Sit Hoi Kei, whose long neck vanished from "PS" (Photo Shop). To Man Jat said, "It's a lighting and angle issue, the world renowned Wing Shya (Ha Wing Hong) was in charge of the poster. No one needed to be studied. People online catch flaws everyday, which is good too since they were able to bring everyone's attention." He made a dirty joked about Sit Hoi Kei's neck. "Her neck is sometimes long and sometimes short, I didn't know that this part for women can be sometimes long and sometimes short too. However her neck is pretty." To Man Jat today will go to Japan again for the NAKED AMBITION 3D (HO CHING 3D) shoot. "Many people are envious that I am working with former adult video actress Maiko Yuki and others on this film, but this is a serious misunderstanding. Only I truly know the pain. It's like going to a dinner that only has first course but no main course. I am not making category IV films, there is no process. Thus there are both psychological and biological changes. During rests I no longer wanted to see the female figure. Seeing you wearing so much clothes, I am very happy." Did his wife Krystal Tin Yui Nei ask if he enjoyed his movie with adult video actresses? To Man Jat said, "I told her the entire process, she was very satisfied and accepting. She even said that I was very daring; when I gave her a retro wallet as a gift, she immediately shut up." * (2013/10/18) Artist Justin Cheung Kin Sing earlier attended the premiere of his film THE BEST PLAN IS NO PLAN (KAU NUI BUT LEI 3 HING DAI). Dressed in all black with blond hair, he said, "When I found out about the dress code, I was in Thailand. I was afraid that I wouldn't have time to do my hair, so I dyed it once myself first. Then when I got back I went to the hairstylist." He joked that he failed to impersonate Korean idol G-Dragon, instead he became G-Tommy (Yuen Man On). The film DUE WEST: OUR SEXY JOURNEY (YUT LO HEUNG SAI) will soon shoot the sequel and go on location in Thailand. Earlier Cheung Kin Sing volunteered to scout locations with the team. He said that in the film he will continue to play an otaku, but declined to reveal the details. * (2013/10/18) Best Actress Carina Lau Ka Ling in the new film BENDS (GOR GAI) played a socialite who has a social standing, money and family, normally loves high tea and shopping to pass the time and without a single worry in life. Yet in real life Ka Ling said that she had no intention to live this life and felt that women should have their own space. Although her life was busy, she felt it was very enriching. She said, "Even with a perfect married life, I still have to properly manage myself. I won't become a woman who only relies on her husband." * (2013/10/18) Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam has toiled in the film industry for years and would give her all to every performance. Early in her career for the film SCARED 2 DIE (HAT SEI NEI) she performed without make up. In recent years for LOVE LIFTING (GO GUI OI) she ate heavily to gain weight. Her years of hard work finally is rewarded, early this year with the film LOVE LIFTING she received a Hong Kong Film Award Best Actress nomination. Recently with THE WEDDING DIARY she received the first Golden Wau Award Best Actress nomination. Although she did not win, they were already great encouragement for Elanne who has not been in the film industry for too long. "I have never thought about winning an award, I am already very satisfied with the nominations. I have to thank Sister Hung (Wai Ying Hung). On the eve of the Hong Kong Film Award, she sent me a text message to tell me to be calm and keep looking pretty. She would support me. After reading it I immediately cried!" Wai Ying Hung knew that Elanne was a crier, so she waited until a few days before the award show to send the text message and said to Elanne that she knew she would cry. Thus she did not dare to send the message on the day of the awards in order to keep her form crying. This elder has been attentive with Elanne. Because of their deep relationship when Elanne learned that Wai Ying Hung with THE WEDDING DIARY was nominated for Best Supporting Actress she could not be happier. "I am very happy and really hope that she will win, then we will be able to go to the award show together. I hope to have a great meal with the cast and the crew of WEDDING." * (2013/10/18) The Hong Kong Mandarin Oriental Hotel celebrated its 50th anniversary last night. Over 300 local and international celebrities attended. They included Maggie Cheung Man Yuk, Moses Chan Ho and his wife Aimee Chan Yan Mei, Oscar Best Actress Helen Mirren, Bond Girl Caterina Murino, London Mayor Boris Johnson, Karen Mok Wai Man and her husband Johannes. The pregnant Chan Yan Mei and Chan Ho attended an event together for the first time after their wedding. Reportedly their salary reached HK$500,000. Cheung Man Yuk was in good spirit and remained rather slim. The Taiwan Golden Horse Award ambassador Cheung Man Yuk earlier worked on a Golden Horse short film with director Hou Hsiao-Hsien. She praised Director Hou for being very accommodating to actors. Was she invited to make a film comeback? Cheung Man Yuk said, "We lightly talked about it, but nothing has been confirmed." Would she like to present the Golden Horse Award to Tony Leung Chiu Wai? Cheung Man Yuk smiled and said, "I don't know?" * (2013/10/18) Kate Tsui Tsz Shan in the film BABY BLUES 3D (3D NGAI YING) played a music diva who had a swimming pool kiss scene with her song writer Raymond Lam Fung. She said that it was not awkward because they were very familiar. Was she afraid that her co-star Karena Ng Chin Yu would be jealous? Tsui Tsz Shan laughed and said, "Sorry!" She said that Ng Chin Yu did not "deliberately supervise" because Ng Chin Yu was also in the scene. When Tsui Tsz Shan shot this kiss scene, Lam Fung and Ng Chin Yu have not publicized their romance yet. However she and Lam Fung had the same manager so she knew early on. Did they flirt on the set? Tsui Tsz Shan said, "I didn't particularly notice to avoid seeming very envious, but I am happy for Lam Fung for being real love. I feel that he is a few years younger." Tsui Tsz Shan declined to be a third party in real life, as she believed that she would not run into jerks who would have wives without her knowing. Speaking of her sexy bottom line, Tsui Tsz Shan said that it would depend on the story. However she could not accept Tang Wei's LUST, CAUTION all nude performance and believed that her future husband would not be able to either. Tsui Tsz Shan described that she only lacked self love as she never thought about posing for nude photos for herself. Even if her husband asked, she would decline. "He can take it himself, I won't cooperate unless I am pregnant." * (2013/10/18) Chrissie Chau Sau Na two nights ago promoted her film KICK ASS GIRLS (BAU 3 CHIU GIU WA). Sh was not worried that dressing sexy for fight scenes would earn her the nickname "Kate Tsui Tsz Shan Number 2". Chau Sau Na jokingly complained that director Cheuk Wan Chi did not show her actresses any mercy. During the shoot she took a lot of risks herself and injured her foot. "If the film performs well at the box office, I definitely want the director to wear her film costume. During the shoot I really want to hit her with a handbag!" Chau Sau Na said that she had suitors but they were still friends. "I want to date too, when work gets too exhausting or when I am injured having a boyfriend around isn't bad, but now I am so busy that I don't have time to be with the other half." Cheuk Wan Chi admitted that she did not want stay single, but she has not found anyone suitable. She joked, "I hope to be able to find someone to run and train with like Chau Sau Na did." Speaking of Chau Sau Na's complaint, Cheuk Wan Chi said, "I played a prank on her, it's a test of her obedience to the director. During the shoot I wanted hear to wear very grotesque high waist pants, my Granny bought that pair of pants. It was only 10 bucks. At first she was unwilling, in the end she gave in." * (2013/10/18) Eric Tsang Chi Wai yesterday attended the 56th Asia Pacific Film Festival press conference. The event will take place in Macau on December 15. Chi Tan as the planning committee chair attended the press conference and the launch ceremony. This year's jury chair will be Shi Nan Sun and Sylvia Chang (Cheung Ngai Ga) will be a member. As for the government not issuing Ricky Wong Wai Kay's HKTV a free television license, Tsang Chi Wai said that the television industry has begun a second journey now -- a warring nation era with as much as chaos as seven kingdoms. Yet positive competition could elevate television quality. However, he felt Wong Wai Kay's instant downsizing of over 300 people was a little rushed. He said, "When Mr. Wong hired people he already planned what to do if he would not get the license. Since so many people supported him, he could not downsize because of the license. TVB could also say that it would downsize if a license was issued. Television professionals should not be bargaining chips in negotiations." Meanwhile, the Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers chair Ng See Yuen and the Film Directors' Guild chair Derek Yee Tung Sing expressed that they will issue a statement Saturday to support Hong Kong Television. Ng See Yuen said that currently the Federation and its ten major affiliated organizations including the Directors' Guild, the Performing Artist Guild, the Society of Cinematography and others will attend. * (2013/10/18) Pakho Chau two nights ago attended an event and revealed that later he will head to Thailand to make a movie, in which he will play a killer and need special effect make up to look like the Elephant Man. He said, "Make up will take 2 hours everyday, one of the eyes will be covered. I am worried that after 2 months, and 12 hours at work everyday, my eyes would be different sizes after the shoot." He could get plastic surgery if that happened. Pakho admitted though that he was outdated and old fashioned, as he liked the original package. This time he was willing to make the sacrifice because he was the rare lead actor. * (2013/10/18) William Chan Wai Ting worked on the film AS THE LIGHT GOES OUT (GAU FOR YING HUNG)'s poster. He appeared in the full "golden armor" gear, which the Hong Kong Fire Department provided. Thus when he put it on he had regulation to follow. The entire uniform including helmet and breathing equipment weighed about 20 kilogram. Director Derek Kwok Chi Kin had to personally put it on Chan Wai Ting. Chan Wai Ting said that when he made AS THE LIGHT GOES OUT injury was inevitable. In comparison Nicholas Tse Ting Fung had to personally perform death dying stunts, jumps in great heights. During the shoot their breathing equipment was a prop and had no oxygen. It was still a lot of trouble to put it on and take it off. Ting Fung while waiting for a set change sat aside in an almost zero oxygen condition. Even others saw that he would be soon out of oxygen and how high his tolerance was. Speaking of Hu Jun's metal walkway fall, William who pulled him up was injured. "He is very big and I pulled something. We even had many bad takes. My minor injuries weren't anything special, because I saw how much risk Ting Fung took." He also pointed out that the film was completed last December and post production took a year. * (2013/10/17) The 41 year old Chapman To Man Jat in the film NAKED AMBITION 3D (HO CHING 3D) acted with Japanese adult video actresses. Three days ago he just worked with 42 L Japanese actress Anri Okita. Two days ago he worked with the 35D naked girl Yui Tatsumi in a Roppongi, Tokyo adult video set. The film's director Lee Kung Lok personally demonstrated the scene and taught Ah Jat secret techniques. Yui Tatsumi was excited watching and convincing in her performance, as she threw her topless body on top of Ah Jat. To Man Jat, Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung and Tyson Chak Hoi Tai two days ago continued to work on their film NAKED AMBITION 3D in Roppongi, Tokyo. Trained to be in his best shape, Ah Jat played an adult video actor. Three days ago he first worked with the 42L "Strongest Body of Humankind", Japanese actress Anri Okita. Ah Jat two days ago again worked with the 29 years old with 35D missile chest Yui Tatsumi in bed. The professional actress gave her all and captured Ah Jat, which was more than he could handle. Ah Jat worried that after making this film he would lose in interest and had to see a doctor. In the story Ah Jat with his friends Tsang Kwok Cheung and Tyson visited a Japanese adult video set to check on their production investment, yet the three men blasted the actor's performance. Finally they upset the actor and drove him away, Ah Jat had to substitute in in the last minute. Director Lee Kung Lok was very nervous about this scene. Because he and Yui Tatsumi had a language barrier and he was afraid that the translator would not be able to convey what he wanted, Lee Kung Lok rehearsed wit hAh Jat and directly directed Yui Tatsumi with body language. With 6 years of adult video experience Yui Tatsumi understood after watching just once and even often directed the bashful Ah Jat. In a funnel shirt Ah Jat first sat on the bed with Yui Tatsumi and had a romantic chat, then he took the initiative and pulled dow the strap on Yui Tatsumi's lingerie. After one he immediately looked embarrassed, obviously wanted to avoid this but hesitated. Yui Tatsumi could only take the initiative and removed her lingerie first. She even grabbed Ah Jat's hand and put it on her right breast, Ah Jat jumped and ran but Yui Tatsumi was relentless. She grabbed Ah Jat from behind and pushed him onto the bed, removed her slip and immediately took off Ah Jat's pants. Yui Tatsumi kept crushing Ah Jat with her 35D giant busts. During the rehearsal, she wore a pair of nude granny panties and a pair of red thongs outside. Tyson and Tsang Kwok Cheung looked on excitedly, then they even jumped on the bed. Tsang Kwok Cheung jokingly spread his legs. Ah Jat said, "The bed has a lot of stuff, and you are still messing around there!" The guys immediately left in embarrassment. Yui Tatsumi said that her first Hong Kong film was a lot of fun. "The on set atmosphere was great, Ah Jat is very funny. I have worked in Thailand and Korea. A friend introduced me to make adult videos. When I first started, I didn't like my rear and thought it was too big. Yet the outside liked it. Then I like it too later. However I can still be a little thinner, especially in my waist and legs. I won't get a breast enlargement though." Ah Jat reportedly will have to bare his rear in the film. He joked, "You might as well as the audience has to make the sacrifice, who wants to see stuff like this. Even if you want to you want to see the girls', mine is mainly used to cover adult video girls' important areas to prevent wardrobe malfunction." Ah Jat joked that it was not his rear's on screen debut anyway. Ah Jat worked with two different adult video actresses on two days in a row. He said, "They take off their clothes on the spot and don't need to clear th set, yesterday I worked with Anri Okita on a train scene. She left her glasses and went out to get them naked. The crew immediately looked very embarrassed. Their professionalism is great, I thank her for using 42L to support Hong Kong film." Ah Jat said that at first shooting such scenes were somewhat enjoyable, but too much would become excessive. He said, "I lost the normal ideas associated with these areas, that sense of excitement. It was no longer fresh. I might hav to see a doctor after this shoot." Was he afraid of scaring his wife Krystal Tin Yui Nei? He said, "We rarely study stuff like this, I have to respect the Old Lady." Tsang Kwok Cheung and Chak Hoi Tai's scenes in the film are very funny. Two days ago they visited an adult video set and watched the adult video shoot. They were very excited and even created their own dirty styles, two of which were dirty helicopter and iron rooster vs. the centipede. Tsang Kwok Cheung and Tyson even demonstrated the moves. When they demonstrated the iron rooster vs. the centipede, Tsang Kwok Cheung pretended to perform push ups on the floor, Tyson rode on his rear. As daring as the idea was, their performance was very entertaining. In addition Tsang Kwok Chung joked that the scene was shot on an actual action video location, which opened his eyes. He will even meet Takuya-San in Shinjuku. Tsang Kwok Chung yesterday posted a photo with Takuya-San in Shinjuku online. "The Legendary Takuya-San......ladies, don't you really want him to be your mentor?" * (2013/10/17) Anita Yuen Wing Yi accepted the Luisa Lai Chi San program TELLING MARIA 2. She mentioned her relationship with a married man and honestly discussed in detail her feelings about this romance. Len Len and her husband Julian Cheung Chi Lam were happy, how did she see Cheung Chi Lam's numerous rumors? Len Len said that once Cheung Chi Lam asked her why she only believed magazines and felt a lack of sense of security. While making the film HE IS A WOMAN SHE IS A MAN (GUM JI YUK YIP) Carina Lau Ka Ling once taught her how to get along with men. 'Men are like kites; you have to let them fly a little, when you are freed then we tug them a little." Back then after she won Miss Hong Kong she developed successfully in the film industry. Len Len revealed that once she was too tired and fell asleep on the set, suddenly someone woke her. She did not care who it was and started yelling. The next time the entire studio knew that a new comer yelled at director Wong Jing. * (2013/10/17) Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam two nights ago dressed up to attend Malaysia's First Golden Wau film award. Her nose did not look like it did before and led to "additional work" suspicion. This time she was nominated for Best Actress with the film THE WEDDING DIARY and was invited to be a guest presenter. Kong Yeuk Lam and famous Singapore actor Mark Lee presented the Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress awards. On the stage she supported nominee Wai Ying Hung, who actually won. She lost Best Actress to Angelica Lee Sinjie. Kong Yeuk Lam was not disappointed. "Actually I too picked Sinjie to win this award, so without expectation I had no disappointment. Sinjie deserves this award and I am very happy for her." * (2013/10/17) Wai Ying Hung two nights ago with the film THE WEDDING DIARY won Malaysia's First Golden Wau Award Best Supporting Actress. Yesterday she joyfully returned to Hong Kong but immediately headed to Hengdian to continue working. She said that with her earlier film AT THE END OF DAYBREAK (SUM MOR) she made two Malaysian films and won 8 awards; earlier she has already asked the AT THE END OF DAYBREAK director to make another film for her. She will start work on a police action film next February. Siu Hung believed that this time would be her action film finale, as she aged she no longer wanted to risk her life and make "torture style" action scenes like jumping from several stories above. Two nights ago Angelica Lee Sinjie with the Tan Kheng Seong (Ah Niu) directed ICE KACANG PUPPY LOVE won Best Actress, but due to work she was unable to personally accept the award. Ah Niu accepted it on her behalf. Ah Niu immediately called Lee Sinjie with the good news and she was very happy. She said that the film has brought a lot of beautiful memories to her. * (2013/10/17) Chin Siu Ho and Anthony Chan Yau worked on another vampire film years later in Juno Mak Chun Lung's directing debut RIGOR MORTIS (GEUNG SI). They had nothing but praise for new director Juno. Chan Yau pointed out that Juno's brain was very developed, full of creativity and imagination. He was appropriate, very respectful and very courteous with the team. He absolutely was not like the rich kids that he read about in the press. He had no boss or director arrogance. Everyone worked together very comfortably. Juno was very certain about what he wanted, he would not quit if he could not achieve what he wanted. Chan Yau said, "I haven't made a movie in 20 years. I had no regret returning for this movie, I am very happy to have made a quality film. I don't know if it will have good box office, but it absolutely is a movie with thought and quality visuals." Chin Siu Ho said that Juno's abilities to express and handle himself were very high. With a group of 80s people like them, he was still able to explain to them very clearly. Even with Wai Ying Hung and Nina Paw He Ching, he could use a woman's mentality to explain to them how to interpret a scene. [ BLAH OF THE WEEK ] Columns, Reviews, Interviews 1. MING PAO DAILY, OCTOBER 20 2013, FILM WORDS DONNIE YEN FIGHTS UNDERCOVER Is Donnie Yen Ch iTan the "Strongest On Earth" action star? This type of titles are very exaggeratd, the "Strongest in the Universe" is even more absurd. Yet he undoubtedly is quite a fighter, at half a century he still is in great shape. He produced and action directed SPEICAL ID (DUT SHU SUN FUN), in which he displayed his skills. It indeed is this week's strongest new film. SPECIAL ID: Series of Exciting Martial Art Action This modern action hit that fights from Hong Kong to the Mainland, fortunately it demonstrates the sharp sense of action and battle of wits mystery that is unique to Hong Kong police films. It also can delicately achieve a "happy rival" effect with Mainland collaboration, which is a lot of fun. The subject is the Hong Kong expertise of undercover cops and crooks. Yen Chi tan plays an undercover Hong Kong cops, from the starts he plays mahjong with mob thugs in a mahjong parlor and fights, this type of Hong Kong flavor is sheer fun. Then he heads north and work with pretty Mainland cop Jing Tian and battle a border crossing tyrant. All the battle of brains and brawns are full of twists and turns, from the beginning to the end the film never stops. The story keeps the action and the comedy going cheerfully and colorfully. No one can ask for the story to be serious, luckily it is not too mentally deficient and silly. Wonderfully it smartly plays the sensitive China and Hong Kong "cultural differences" and "handover" connections without doing any harm. The entire film of course centers around Yen Chi Tan. His performance is wild and lively, the martial art fight sequences are exciting. Director Clarence Ford (Fok Yiu Leung), cinematographer Peter Pau Tak Fun, car stunt coordinate Bruce Lee Lai Yin and others Hong Kong veterans all made contributions. As for co-stars, Andy Tien (On Chi Kit) was Yen Chi Tan's strongest enemy and is very outstanding. Also Ken Low Wai Kwong, Ronald Cheng Chung Kei, Nina Paw Hee Ching, Collin Chou Siu Lung and Mainland star Zhang Hanyu show their support. Lead actress Jing Tian is pretty, her action has a dance feel. However her size makes her fight against the thugs less than credible. Although the film has sharpshooters, it mainly hand to hand combat and not much gun play. It is still not modern enough. As for "real kung fu" and car chase film, it achieves quality. (three and a half out of five stars) THE BEST PLAN IS NO PLAN: Money and Sex Bed Show Another Hong Kong film is the Patrick Kong (Yip Lam Sum) written and directed THE BEST PLAN IS NO PLAN (KAU NUI BUT LEI SAM HING DAI). Sammy Sum Chun Hin, Justin Cheung Kin Sing and Hanjin Tan (Chan Woon Yan) play three bachelors. With a big piles of pretty girls they cook up a series of childish money and sex bed show, far from the Indian film 3 IDIOTS. Yip Lim Sum's previous film A SECRET BETWEEN US (DAI YUT CHI BUT SI NEI) was simple, fortunately it captured drama and emotions. Now this one is much more vulgar. UPCOMING MOVIES Korean Movie Night 2013 Series Five Remembering Park Cheol Soo: A Korean Filmmaking Legend When prolific Korean director Park Cheol Soo died earlier this year after being hit by a drunk driver, film fans around the world took solace in the fact that while he was gone, his amazing, truly independent masterpieces would live on forever. As huge fans of his work, the Korean Cultural Service pays tribute to this amazing man by offering up three of his most acclaimed films. Park Cheol Soo led the Korean wave throughout the late 90s, influenced by the time he spent in Manhattan and the indie film scene here. Having popularized Korean cinema worldwide, he also discovered Kim Ki Duk who has changed our perception of Asian film. Taken from us well too soon, Korean Movie Night celebrates the life of Park Cheol Soo starting October 1st...delivering three films guaranteed to move you like never before. As Autumn tugs at the leaves from Manhattan’s trees and the days become short, warm yourself with the memory of Park Cheol Soo and his cinematic masterpieces – brought to you for free, as always, by your friends at The Korean Cultural Service. Tuesday, October 29, 2013 @ 7PM B.E.D. (North American Premiere, 2012, 90 mins.) In the last film he lived to see released, director Park Cheol Soo explores human obsessive desire for sex. Based on a short novel of the same name, B.E.D. is told through the eyes of the three main characters, whose joy, passion, despair and death overflow into one bed. The man B. has an affair with a bored married woman E., who eventually dumps him. In order to get over E., B. marries D., a divorcee with a small daughter, but still keeps the bed in which he made love with E. His obsession with E. never goes away, as he attempts to get her back. --- [ WHAT IS YOUR CHAFFING EDITOR LISTENING TO ] ELEVATE The Winery Dogs http://youtu.be/fnMBix9Zq5o ---------------------- HK Top Ten Central hktopten@hotmail.com http://hktopten.orgfree.com | http://hktopten.blogspot.com
