* (2013/09/18) Every August and September gave the Federation of Motion 
Film Producers of Hong Kong Limited the biggest headache because it had 
to select a film to represent Hong Kong and vie for the Oscar Best 
Foreign Film nomination.  Reportedly this year the jury included Mabel 
Cheung Yuen Ting, John Chong Ching, Teresa Mo Shun Kwan, Leung Lee Siu 
Ha and other filmmakers.  Recently voting has begun.  Nominated films 
included Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Zhang Ziyi's THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI 
JUNG SI) and the Nick Cheung Ka Fai and Eddie Peng Yu-Yen starred 
UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN).  Originally the HK$ 120 million investment 10 year 
long production THE GRANDMASTERS would have a better shot as a Hong Kong 
Oscar Best Foreign Film representative due to its frequent international 
film festival guest, once Cannes Film Festival jury chair Wong Kar Wai 
and the foreign viewers recognized Leung Chiu Wai and Zhang Ziyi.  In 
addition the film was screened on 700 screens in the U.S. and reached 
US$ 2.45 million in a short time.  Some thought that the film will break 
the curse of Hong Kong films being kept out of Best Foreign Film Oscar 
nomination!
	Yet, due to the recent success of the Cheung Ka Fai, Peng Yu-Yen 
starred, Dante Lam Chiu Yin directed UNBEATABLE like Cheung Ka Fai and 
Crystal Lee Hing Hau earlier working Best Actor and Best Actress at the 
Shanghai International Film Festival and its box office breaking the HK$
42 million recently, some voters earlier "changed their minds" and voted 
for UNBEATABLE.  Voters who preferred THE GRANDMASTERS saw the tides 
turn and requested to watch the U.S. version as well.  Also because of 
such a motion, the Federation's "deadline" was scheduled two days ago.  
In the end it had to postpone the voting deadline and counting due to 
the 23rd.  

* (2013/09/18) Nicholas Tse Ting Fung and Max Zhang Jun earlier in Kam 
Tin worked on the Wong Jing Lunar New Year film FROM VEGAS TO MACAU (DOH 
SING FUNG WON).  In the story Zhang Jun strangled Ting Fung, held him 
down and hit him, thus before the shoot they had to wear protective 
pads and rehearse.  An avid martial art fan, Ting Fung very early on 
already stated that he wanted to work with a good fighter like Zhang Jun.  
Finally he got his wish as they were ordered to "battle".  Since punches 
and kicks had no eyes, was Ting Fung worried about being hurt?  He smiled 
and said that he had a lot of confidence in Zhang Jun.  "I am not 
worried!  Earlier he and (Chapman) To Man Jat fought, when he hit people 
he hit very comfortable.  Because he knew how to naturally hold back, we 
could coordinate and adjust."
	This time Ting Fung worked with film industry superstar Chow Yun 
Fat for the first time.  He stated that he was very happy.  "Fat Gor is 
standing tall, he has worked with Zhang Ziyi and Chow Kit Lun (Jay Chou).  
Both of them are thirty something now and at the peaks of their careers.  
In terms of China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, I now am considered the Hong 
Kong representative."  Ting Fung has always thrown himself into work, 
but when asked about his former wife Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi, the 
production team and his assistant immediately halted the question and 
thoroughly displayed Ting Fung's low key style.
	Working on his first fight scene after his injury, Zhang Jun 
admitted that the swelling still has not gone down on his eye.  Everyone 
worried that he would not be able to be on camera.  To avoid hindering 
the production, Zhang Jun often did sit ups and finally barely made the 
swelling go down.  With make up he had no problem being on camera at 
all.

* (2013/09/18) Louis Koo Tin Lok in the film OUT OF INFERNO 3D (TOH 
CHOOK SUN TIN 3D) experienced fiery explosions, diving and flying 
scenes.  The toughest was the day that was spent in the water;  
aside from having to breathe from an oxygen tank before going into the 
water, during the shoot he also slicked his right hand on sheet metal.  
He experienced an unexpected and most painful time for a man.
	Goo Jai in this water rescue scene saved Angelica Lee Sinjie and 
others.  Spending in a long time in the water was hard to take.  Goo Jai 
said, "I would have never imagined in the scorching Thailand the water 
scene would actually felt so icy cold.  Luckily the crew steamed towels 
to wrap us up in and had warm water bags.  If we weren't warm enough, 
we would sit under the spotlight for heat.  Honestly, the cold could 
rival Iceman's."
	In the story when he prepared to help Lee Sinjie, a piece of 
sheet metal feel.  Goo Jai had to push her away from it.  The timing had 
to be very accurate and they rehearsed many times.  Yet, one of the 
times Goo Jai could not dodge in time and was hit.  The back of his hand 
was all red and bleeding; Lee Sinjie witnessed his injury and was very 
worried.  Goo Jai only asked his assistant for new bandages and continued 
the shoot to avoid hindering the production.  After its completion then 
he accepted treatment from the on set medical team.

* (2013/09/17) Whitney Hui Yik Nei, Jason Chan Pak Yu, Kelvin Kwan Chor 
Yiu, Jeana Ho Pui Yu and others two nights ago worked on location for 
their new film LAN KWAI FONG 3 (HEI OI YEH PO 3) at Central.  In the 
story Hui Yik Nei went to the convenience store for condoms and water.  
As sh left two thugs rushed up and tried to grab her.  Chan Pak Yu 
immediately jumped in to protect her and took a bottle to the head!
	Before the shoot the actors rehearsed.  In the final shot they 
accidentally "performed for real" as the prop bottle injured Chan Pak Yu.  
His head was bleeding and he immediately covered up his wound with a 
towel.  Director Wilson Chin Kwok Wai and the crew immediately checked on 
him and disinfected the wound.  To keep from getting his costume wet, 
Chan Pak Yu removed his top and showed off his tattoo on his back and 
six pack abdominal muscles.  Hui Yik Nei looked obviously concerned.  
Kwan Chor Yiu who played the convenience store clerk giggled and walked 
out the store to join the crowd while Chan Pak Yu's wound was being 
treated.  
	Jeana who was waiting for her shot played with her phone alone.  
Even though producer Ng Kin Hung was next to her they had no exchange.  
Christine Ng Wing Mei who came to visit the set chatted with the crew.  
Fans asked her for photos and she complied.
	Chin Kwok Wai apologized for Chan Pak Yu's injury.  "I am so 
sorry, the scene got real.  Luckily the wound wasn't too deep, it was 
just superficial.  (How big was the wound?)  Tiny like a finger nail, he 
didn't have to go to the hospital."  Later he also pointed that Chan Pak 
Yu still insisted on continuing the shoot despite the injury and praised 
his professionalism.  Chan Pak Yu said, "I bled a little, it won't leave 
a scar.  I just stuck a band aid on it and I was fine.  Earlier for a 
music video I have attempted a similar scene, but at the time nothing 
happened.  (Was your girlfriend worried about your condition?)  She said 
that she wanted to "whack" whoever "whacked" me!"  Kwan Chor Yiu said 
that he was not laughing at Chan Pak Yu, afterward he also asked him 
about his condition.

* (2013/09/17) Always active in the film industry, the handsome Daniel 
Wu (Ng Yin Cho) last night stated online that he had to make a mold of 
his head for a film.  As he was waiting for the mold to try, the crew 
drew funny faces on him and turned him into a "pig".

* (2013/09/17) The film UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN) after 32 days has already 
accumulated HK$ 41 million box office.  Two nights ago a second 
celebration was held.  Director Dante Lam Chiu Yin, Nick Cheung Ka Fai 
and Eddie Peng Yu-Yen and other actors attended.  Peng Yu-Yen who was not 
fluent in Cantonese said, "Very happy!" but made it sound like foul 
language; whn Ka Fai asked him whether he would support Taiwan and Hong 
Kong films, Peng Yu-Yen did not support his own people.  "If it can 
break the YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE record, I can do whatever (people 
want)!"
	Speaking of the sequel, Lo Mik Shuet offered to perform.  Lam 
Chiu Yin joked that he would add a scene in which Ka Fai "unlocks" her, 
which could bring in HK$ 3 million.  Ka Fai joked, "Everything will 
happen on the bed."  After the toast, Ka Fai and Peng Yu-Yen even 
reprised their kiss scene in the film.  Although they just pretended they 
left people not knowing whether to laugh or to cry.
	Ka Fai said that he and Peng Yu-Yen were busy on their own.  Two 
nights ago they finally made time to celebrate together.  Ka Fai said 
that he was very happy his first fighting film already received HK$ 41 
million box office performance.  "I have been making movies for over 20 
years, this is the first time that I reach this record.  Peng Yu-Yen 
should be happier, since he just made a few films."  Ka Fai revealed 
that the likelihood for a sequel was very high, but the story might not 
be about fighting.  Peng Yu-Yen said that he was very honored, it was 
like a dream.  He was happy that the Hong Kong audience accepted it and 
hoped to have even more opportunities to make movies in Hong Kong.
	Did he want the film to defeat APPLE at the box office?  Ka Fai 
said, "Of course I do, I want to get rich too!  APPLE performed so well, 
our trend now may not be able to break it, but we don't have to break 
someone else's.  This time with such word of mouth and box office I 
have already broken through myself.  I am very satisfied."  Ka Fai said 
that he admired Peng Yu-Yen very much and privately he already treated 
him like a disciple.  "If he has any question, I am willing to have 
exchanges and share with him."  Some said that Peng Yu-Yen's foul 
language improved a lot.  He immediately played dumb and said no.  Ka Fai 
chimed in, "Don't X pretend!"  Peng Yu-Yen said, "I learned it from 
Master."
	Joey Yung Cho Yi who will soon perform her concerts wanted to 
train to be as muscular as Ka Fai.  Ka Fai stated, "She doesn't need to, 
the poster is already so hot.  She can rival my previous cover, with red 
lips and not much clothes.  Being pretty like this is good, don't mess 
around with other stuff.  With muscles viewers will want a refund."
	As for Bobby Auyeung Chun Wai revealing that he had to swear not 
to kiss Esther Kwan Wing Ho in order for her husband Ka Fai to permit her 
to make a series.  Ka Fai said, "This vicious oath isn't just sworn 
now, I hope she doesn't need to make kiss scenes.  I can make more.  In 
recent years I have always been fighting people and haven't had much 
romantic scenes.  The Old Lady might as well stick with ARMED REACTION 
(TOR CHEUNG SI JEH), fire a gun and that's it."

* (2013/09/16) The Nick Cheung Ka Fai and Eddie Peng Yu-Yen starred 
UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN) broke 40 million at the box office.  The cast and 
the crew yesterday attended several audience appreciation events.  Eddie 
even deliberately took a day off from his production to participate.  
The cinemas continued to be sold out.  Fans were excited to see the two 
leads.  When Ka Fai left fans surrounded him outside the ladies' room for 
photos.  Speaking of the box office, Ka Fai could not help but say, 
"BEAST STALKER (JING YUN) made 8 million, THE STOOL PIGEON (SIN YUN) made 
12 million.  I am afraid that from now on I won't be able to reach this 
success.  (Some viewers said that you could win the Best Actor again.)  
They are just joking, I can't control something like this.  (You will 
compete with Sean Lau Ching Wan for the Huading Award.)  It doesn't

support."  Ka Fai also said that the viewer reaction made him feel the

	Director Dante Lam Chiu Yin admitted that he has already been 
thinking about the sequel.  "Even if in the end I couldn't come up with 
anything and use a new story, I still hope to work with the original 
team.  (Will there be profit sharing?)  That depends on how well the 
boss treats me."

* (2013/09/16) Charine Chan Ka Ling two nights ago attended the wedding 
banquet of Raymond Wong Pak Ming's son Edmond Wong and revealed that she 
will invest in a romance as a producer.  Yesterday she said that it will 
mainly be an international comedy.  "I like to make something that has 
less market, which is fresher.  The movie will be about how guys get 
girls, and what girls want now."  As for the cast, Ka Ling sated that it 
was in negotiation.  She had 6 to 7 choices on hand.  "We will find the 
most hit artists now, for now we can't reveal anything.  (Local actor?)  
No, world actor, w will look for handsome guys and pretty girls."
	As for film industry new comer Angelababy (Yang Ying), she said, 
"Angelababy is my favorite new actress in the past five years.  She is 
very sweet.  I hope to have a chance to work with."  Ka Ling also pointed 
out that she will work with a foreign team and shoot on location in 
Europe.  How much did she invest?  She lamented, "It's very expensive, I 
don't dare to think about it.  I hope to get it done within a hundred 
million.  I am afraid of going over budget."

* (2013/09/16) Recently the film LAN KWAI FONG 3 (HEI OI YEH PO 3) 
officially began production.  Earlier the actresses already competed in 
swimsuits.  Two nights ago the film shot on location at Central.  Ng Wing 
Mei who was not working visited the set and brought ice cream.  Jeana Ho 
Pui Yu immediately posted their photos together; The younger girls were 
in make up and dressed up, only Lady Ng appeared without make up.  She 
also pretended to kiss Ng Kin Hung.  She joked, "He made me look very 
young, so I made the sacrifice for him and wore a bikini!"  
	LAN 3 two nights ago continued to work in Lan Kwai Fong Central, 
Whitney Hui Yik Nei, Ho Pui Yu, Ava Yu Kiu, Celia Kwok Wing Yi, Barbie 
Liu (Ha Wai Yu), Connie Man Hoi Ling and Wilson Chin Kwok Wai's 
girlfriend Calinda Chan Yuen Wai were dressed up as onlookers cheered 
and looked on.  Later Hui Yik Nei stood on a two story tall wall.  Her on 
screen boyfriend Jason Chan Pak Yu tried to stop her.  The shoot took 
place early in the morning, but many still looked on.  Hui Yik Nei 
performed another dangerous scene after jumping into the sea.  Actually 
her character had an adventurous personality, just the opposite of her in 
real life.  In a strap dress "Spring Roll" Lukian Wang Bo Bo had a white 
pad on her shoulder, which she explained was sun burnt.
	Earlier when the film shot at sea, the film company rented 3 boats 
for the shoot.  One of the boat was borrowed from a Hong Kong rich kid 
and was worth over HK$60 million.  During the shoot, the production boat 
accidentally scratched the yacht.  Someone got drunk and started trouble, 
as he angrily used foul language against producer Ng Kin Hung.  Ng Kin 
Hung was reportedly injured.  A tattoo thug immediately separated them.  
Ng Kin Hung admitted the boat was scratched and a dispute took place.  "I 
as the producer had to intervene but I neither hit nor was hit.  I wasn't 
the on who was drinking, the boat owner was.  Now we have come to an 
agreement!  We don't have to make compensation."  Chin Kwok Wai said, 
"It's minor!  No one was hurt."  Yu Kiu said that many tattoo thugs used

* (2013/09/16) Max Zhang Jun and Chow Yun Fat worked together on the 
film FROM VEGAS TO MACAU (DOH SING FUNG WON).  Earlier he posted a black 
and white photo online, showing off his muscles in a tank top.  The 
bright spot however was the photographer behind the camera, Chow Yun Fat.  
Zhang Jun wrote, "The most handsome photographer: Chow Yun Fat, Fat Gor!"  
	Conceivably the photo was shot earlier because in the photo Zhang 
Jun's eye was not injured.  Of course Zhang Jun's wife Ada Choi Siu Fun 
knew how to appreciate Zhang Jun the best.  She forwarded the photo and 
praised how handsome her husband was.  "Cool......Fat Gor!  The model 
too!"

* (2013/09/16) Raymond Wong Pak Ming's son Edmond Wong Chi Wun two nights 
ago wed.  Many friends in the business came to congratulate the new 
couple.  Sandra Ng Kwan Yu who worked with Wong Pak Ming on many films 
also attended.  Perhaps due to Mainland star Tian Pujun calling her 
husband Peter Chan Ho Sun boyfriend of many years, she did not want to 
be interviewed and chose to avoid the media through a secret exit.
	Sima Yin last night had a lot of fun and kept taking photos with 
friends.  Louis Koo Tin Lok posed for an intimate photo.  She happily 
said, "Congratulation to Brother Pak Ming and Lidia for getting a daughter 
in law!"

* (2013/09/16) Karen Mok Man Wai to commemorate her 20th anniversary in 
the business held her THE AGE OF MOKNIFICIENCE at the Landmark.  
Yesterday Karen was dressed in silver and unveiled the exhibition, her 
husband Johannes, parents and brothers were present.  Her friend Mark Lui 
Chung Tak, Johanna Ho Chi Yan, Jonathan Wong Chee Hynn, Tina Lau Tin Lan 
and others came to congratulate her.  The venue met an elegant stage, 
using MOK as symbol.  Karen appeared with simple foot work on the stage 
and led to screams from the crowd.  Her family was invited to the stage 
for photos; her husband Johannes flew from England back to Hong Kong and 
kissed her twice.
	Karen admitted that she was as excited as she was on a wedding 
day.  "For days I would come in the middle of the night to help models 
with the clothes.  Many friends helped.  Because a 20th anniversary 
concert would be easy, an exhibition felt more innovative.  Aside from 
costumes, I even put my movie GOD OF COOKERY (SIK SUN)'s false teeth on 
display so everyone can see how terrifying it is up close."  As for her 
husband's response to the displays, Karen said that her husband felt 
wonderful.  Although he knew about Karen's career, after graduation they 
lost touch with each other for several years and this was a good 
opportunity for him to understand her anew.  She said, "He has my 
records, but earlier I told him I would put an enlarged back baring photo 
in the exhibition.  He saw it today and said that luckily it was not as 
large as he has imagined.  (Do you make the same pose at home?)  I am not 
telling you, I don't just have this pose, I still have many other poses."  
When reporters asked Johannes to pose next to Karen's photo, he was shy 
and turned it down.  However he said that he liked this photo very much.
	Karen admitted that the most memorable was the wedding gown.  
When she looked at it she was reminded of the atmosphere of the 
ceremony and got goose bumps.  The exhibition will move to Shanghai, 
Singapore and other locations after Hong Kong so fans from different 
places will be able to participate; the 20th anniversary concert will 
begin touring in the Mainland in November and not return to Hong Kong 
until March.

* (2013/09/15) Nick Cheung Ka Fai's six pack abdominal muscles have  
made many men work out.  Chapman To Man Jat also posted an after photo 
online.  Actually he has been secretly training for half a year for his 
new film production NAKED AMBITION 2 (HO CHING 2) next month.  He said 
on facebook, "During this period, I thank devil coach Michael very much 
for turning me from a big fat guy to a little fat guy.  For a 41 year 
old person who never exercises, this is very tough.  Actually the days 
from success are still long and far, but time is always faster than 
people.  October will soon arrive.  I can only say I will do my best."

* (2013/09/15) Raymond Wong Pak Ming's son Edmond Wong Chi Wun yesterday 
wed his girlfriend Cheng Ka Man.  Wong Pak Ming gave a home to his son as 
a gift.  Promoted to a father in law he had "grandchild fever" and urged 
them to have a baby soon numerous time.  He also invited many friends in 
the business.  Donnie Yen Chi Tan, Simon Yam Tat Wa, Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi 
Lam) and others came to congratulate the couple, making the event star 
studded.
	Wong Chi Wun and his girlfriend of 6 years Cheng Ka Man wed 
officially.  Yesterday they held a wedding ceremony at the church in the 
afternoon and a wedding banquet at the Intercontinental Hotel.  In 
support of the film theme, the wedding photos on display were like film 
posters.
	New father in law Wong Pak Ming invited friends in the business 
like Yen Chi Tan, Ti Lung, Hung Doi Lam, Yam Tat Wa, Sima Yan and her 
husband, Charine Chan Ka Ling and others.  The event was star studded 
like a film award ceremony.  Raymond Lam Fung and his girlfriend Karena 
Ng Yin Yu appeared in "couple blue" but declined any interview.  Lam Fung 
only lightly presented his gift to the new couple.
	Charine Ka Ling admitted that she has known Wong Pak Ming for 
years.  She was very happy to hear about Chi Wun's wedding.  As for her 
love life, Ka Ling said, "Lately it's decent.  I will make a new film but 
mainly work behind the scene.  Actually my love life is pretty good, being 
happy and relaxed are enough.  The wedding certificate signing is just a 
ceremony."
	The new couple met the press.  Promoted to father in law Wong Pak 
Ming was all smiles and often urged them to have a baby soon in the 
interview.  He said, "I am very excited, very happy.  I hope they will have 
a horse baby next year so this year's Lunar New Year film will be able 
having babies."  Chi Wun thanked his father for giving him property for 
a wedding gift.  Will his wife continue her work as a manager?  Ka Man 
said that she will continue to work but her father in law chimed in.  
"You won't have to when you are pregnant, you can have several more if 
you want."  Chi Wun revealed that when the day of the proposal he 
decorated his home with balloons and cardboard cutout, played his wife's 
favorite Leon Lai Ming love song and proposed romantically.  A 5 minute 
short video will be aired at the banquet.  He said, "I am the lead 
actor, once in a lifetime.  Even Papa hasn't seen it yet."

* (2013/09/15) "Inch Mouth Barbie" Barbie Liu (Ha Wai Yu) yesterday 
attended a a skin beauty product event.  During a sketch she appeared in a 
low cut slip and often leaned forward to display her career line.  
Barbie said that the clothing was event arranged and the story required 
it.  As for the salary, she said that she did not know.  The company 
handled it.  The most important was the result was good and the concept 
was healthy.
	Barbie revealed that earlier a party boat scene for her new film 
had many accidents.  Suddenly a boat rammed theirs, alcohol related 
trouble and boater and film crew disputes.  She said, "While we were 
waiting someone got drunk and caused trouble.  We heard the argument 
sounds, which was very memorable.  I never imagined that people would 
cause trouble in the middle of the sea."  She also revealed that she and 
Connie Man Hoi Ling had a kissing photo, luckily her friend did not show 
it.  She said that she minded taking the photo, as for whether she would 
play or not it would depend on the atmosphere, the venue and who she was 
with.

* (2013/09/14) Yesterday Louis Koo Tin Lok, Edmond Leung Hong Man, 
William So Wing Hong, Philip Ng Won Lung and Ken Hung Cheuk Lap attended 
an event.  Goo Jai revealed that his film DON'T GO BREAKING MY HEART 2 
(DAN SUN NAM NUI 2)'s Guangzhou portion has completed its shot.  Some 
dangerous scenes will be shot in Hong Kong.  He said, "I have to be 
Spider-Man, climbing from first floor to the 60th floor."  Goo Jai also 
revealed that the film MAN JU SA WA (MANJUSAKA) has already wrapped.  Did 
he see DaDa Chan Jing?  He said, "I haven't seen her, I only learned 
about her part from the newspapers."  In addition, Goo Jai revealed 
that later he will promote his film OUT OF INFERNO (TOH CHOOK SUN TIN) 
with Lau Ching Wan all over.  He said that earlier the Macau premiere 
had rather good audience response.  He even hoped to have a good box 
office performance.

* (2013/09/14) "In this lifetime, our fate as a couple ends here.  I am 
great, you take care too."  Faye Wong in a few simple words ended her 
8 year long marriage with Li Yapeng.  The relationship was not looked 
upon favorably once.  After they got over the seven year itch many 
thought that they would make it, but they were unable to get over their 
personality difference.  Even though they did not have any major 
argument, their personalities were polarized.  They had no way to be 
together anymore and chose to divorce.  Yesterday on Friday the 13th they 
announced their divorce and truly shocked everyone.  They even returned 
to Urumqi where they wed for the divorce processing. The custody of their

	Li Yapeng seemed to want to marry a Faye Wong who could be a

star Joey Wang Cho Yin earlier appeared in Hong Kong and became the Hong 
Kong media coverage target.  The changes to her face led to a lot of 
controversy.  Recently a report claimed that a car accident last year 
injured her face and she required hospitalization and treatment.  Wang 
Cho Yin in order to calm the outside speculations yesterday personally

* (2013/09/14) Choi Si-Won two nights ago shot th film DAI HUP GUK (GRAND 
CANYON) on Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui.  He rode a police motorcycle and 
chased a car on the road.  Half the road was block for the shoot.  Chin 
Kar Lok was the action director.  Choi Si-Won in a suit looked cool and 
attracted fans to wait late into the night and to chase the vehicles.
	The production team arrived early to prepare.  Choi Si-Won 
arrived around 11PM.  He was obviously curious about the motorcycle as he 
studied it in detail.  The crew explained its operation to him.  Choi 
Si-Won did not have to personally ride it as a special effect vehicle will 
tow the motorcycle.  Reportedly in this scne he chased the Ji Jin-Hee 
driven vehicle, but Ji Jin-Hee did not show up.  The shoot also had 
drone equipment to shoot from the air.
	Because it was early in the morning, few were on the streets 
except fans.  Choi Si-Won was in a great mood and full of expressions 
when he was not in a scene, as he chatted and laughed with his entourage.  
Choi Si-Won worked on the scene several times, finished and left.  Fans 
followed him.  Chin Kar Lok continued to direct the vehicles into the 
sea scenes.  The crew divided up and directed traffic with safety in 
mind.

* (2013/09/14) LAN KWAI FONG 3 (HEI OI YEH PO 3) yesterday shoot a boat 
party at sea just opposite Hebe Haven, Sai Kung.  The actresses appeared 
in swimsuits.  Along with muscular men, 50 hot people enjoyed the waves.
	The 44 year old Christine Ng Wing Mei guest starred.  She was 
unwilling to remove her top to directly confront Ava Yu Kiu.  "I can't 
remove it, I like my bathrobe!"  "Inch Mouth Barbie" Barbie Liu (Ha Wai 
Yu) and Whitney Hui Yik Nei displayed their full figures but both had 
wardrobe malfunctions.  Jeana Ho Pui Yu's bust obviously "shrank".  
Spring Roll (Lukian Wang Bo Bo) also showed her belly.
	Ng Wing Mei guest starred as a bar owner.  She said that working 
on a movie in swimsuits with young girls reminded her of her Miss Asia 
pageant days.  She said, "Someone asked me if I was afraid of being at a 
disadvantage, I didn't have any feeling because one day they would age 
and get larger.  My bright spot was with the character, not the bikini."  
She joked that when she took the role she did not know that she had to 
wear a swimsuit.  Luckily the producer permitted her to appear in a 
shawl.  Hui Yik Nei said that said that the film company arranged for 
the swimsuits.  She felt that her costume was not at a disadvantage.
	Yu Kiu did not mind wearing a bikini for the story.  She said, 
"Personally I have never been on a boat ride before.  With some little 
cloth I have been scared all morning."  With pseudo models' outstanding 
figures also present, Yu Kiu joked, "I wouldn't compare figures.  In the

* (2013/09/14) Aaron Kwok Fu Sing recently promoted his film SILENT 
WITNESS (CHUEN MUN MUK GIK) in Shanghai.  As for his rumors with Anna Kay 
he reiterated, "I am absolutely single, just let me stay single!"  Sing 
Sing admitted that now he lacks confidence in relationships and would not 
force anything.  "For a rather lengthy relationship, now I resume my

the hospital.  Perhaps her look had something to do with her accident.

and bloodied.  She said, "The crew said that the sword was sealed with

	In the film Hidy had to seduce an enemy into getting close, she 
even performed a dream hugging and kissing scene.  In the scene a lizard 
fell on Hidy's chest.  She said, "In the film my co-star removed the 
lizard for me and took advantage.  During the shoot actual contact was 
made.  (Was he really taking advantage?)  No, I think he was a little 
afraid of me because in the film I would hit him."  Hidy praised Bak 
Leung Gum for his passion and comedy.  She also said that he had an eight

industry.  She even extended it to Hong Kong as she invested 7 figures 
with friends to build a restaurant empire.  Yesterday 3 restaurants 
opened at the same time.  Her husband Tony Leung Chiu Wai showed his 
support as he was by her side from the afternoon to the evening, which

its premiere at the Galaxy Hotel Macau.  Once playing a firefighter in 
the television series BURNING FLAME, Louis Koo Tin Lok joked that when 
he made OUT OF INFERNO he was burnt from the beginning to the end, soon he 
would be burnt to death.  "At TVB before, a fire scene only happened 
every 5 episodes."
	Angelica Lee Sinjie was asked if she received special treatment 
from her director husband Oxide Pang Shun.  She said no, but Koo Tin Lok

with Wang Leehom and American director Dennie Gordon on the film MY LUCKY 
STAR, which held a press conference and a premiere in Macau yesterday.  
Zhang Ziyi appeared to have fallen for Wang Leehom on and off screen.  At 
the event, she even unknowingly flirted with this god.  Speaking of 
casting the god character in the film, Zhang Ziyi said that Wang Leehom 
was a lock long ago.  "I never chose, he is the One.  He can do both

* (2013/09/13) Yesterday (September 12) would have been Leslie Cheung 
Kwok Wing's 57th birthday.  Photographer and friend Wing Shya (Ha Wing 
Hong) chose this day to release the MISS YOU MUCH Leslie Cheung memorial 
photo collection.  A debut book sale took place at a Tsim Sha Tsui 
bookstore.  Ha Wing Hong said that this photo collection has been in 
preparation for a year and a half.  The first printing was 5,000 copies 
and each would cost HK$550.  The proceeds will be donated to Cheung Kwok 
Wing's favorite charity organizations like the Children's Cancer 
Foundation.
	80% of the collection were never before seen photos, most were 
different from the same day release LOVE LESLIE.  Ha Wing Hong said that 
when he was younger he chose photos from a commercial angle, now he would 
pay more attention to the message before the photos.  He revealed that 
this time he spent two months to choose photos and was reminded of many 
memories from working with Cheung Kwok Wing on the photo book.

* (2013/09/13) Karen Mok Man Wai's THE AGE OF MOKNIFICENCE - KAREN MOK 
20TH ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION will take place between September 15 and 21 
and relive her 20 year career with everyone.  Among the several dozen 
items on display, some you could see and some you could listen to like 
awards, singing recording from age 3, the false teeth from the film GOD 
OF COOKERY (SIK SUN), the special reprint of FULL BODY KAREN MOK album 
cover for this exhibition.  The most special was the secondary school 
school newspaper with Jacky Cheung Hok Yau and Alan Tam Wing Lun.  Karen 
said, "Because a classmate was Hok Yau's nucleus fan, I asked him for an 
interview.  In the end we successfully applied for Hok Yau and Principle 
to take a photo while holding the school paper.  I already forgot about 
it long ago, forgot that my destiny with Hok Yau already started in 
school."
	Karen recalled in 1994 a director asked her to dye her hair red 
for Cheung Hok Yau's music video MOON GAZING (MONG YUET).  Later because 
of the red hair she caught Wong Kar Wai's eyes for his film FALLEN ANGELS 
(DOR LOK TIN SI).  Finally because of that performance she won Best 
Supporting Actress.  She said, "So for my Best Supporting Actress award 
I actually had to thank Hok Yau.  Later because I dyed my hair again my 
hair quality turned bad, so I shaved my head.  In 2003 I won the Taiwan 
Golden Melody female singer award, Hok Yau presented the award to me; 
thus, I really hope to invite him to attend the exhibition opening 
ceremony."
	Was she reminded of many memory when she picked out the displays?  
Karen admitted that old memory was definite, but the process was happy.  
Did the exhibit include a photo with Stephen Chow Sing Chi?  She said, 
"Does it have his photo?  Haha, it does have CHINESE ODYSSEY photos."  
What about Stephen Fung Tak Lun related items?  Karen said, "Those 
aren't for display!  However I can invite him!"  Will she invite Chow 
Sing Chi?  She avoided the question and only said that the exhibition 
would run for a week, anyone could go at any time.  Karen revealed that 
her husband would show his suppose, as sh would show him everything of 
hers in these 20 years.  She sweetly said, "Aside from fulfilling my 
dream in my career, my life also has reached its dream.  Marrying a good 
husband is a happy thing.  The exhibition would display some wedding 
related items."  Would her husband be jealous about her past with Chow 
Sing Chi?  She joked, "That's why I didn't tell him, anyway it's already 
ancient history!"

* (2013/09/12) Today would have been the late superstar Leslie Cheung 
Kwok Wing's 57th birthday.  Someone online revealed that at the film 
FAREWELL TO MY CONCUBINE (BA WONG BIT GEI) wrap banquet Gor Gor spoke up 
for a Beijing Opera actress Diao Li who was a domestic violence victim.  
He publicly warned her husband, "If you dare to hit her again, I will 
ask my Hong Kong friends to take care of you!"  The crew said that at the 
time Gor Gor's eyes and tone stunned everyone.  Some online praised Gor 
Gor's heroics and even started a movement to present flowers at the 
Avenue of the Stars and Madame Tussaud's Hong Kong.

* (2013/09/12) The Director Barbara Wong Chun Chun written and directed 
new film THE STOLEN YEARS made 120 million yuan RMB in the Mainland.  She 
admitted it was quite a surprise.  Speaking of working with lead actor 
Joseph Chang Hau Chuen for the first time, she revealed that he warmed up 
slowly.  When the team went to dinner on the first night, Hau Chuen did 
not say a word.  It was quite a headache for Wong Chu Chun.  "H didn't 
even take a glance at Bai Baihe.  He was very shy.  I thought with only 
10 more days before production what was I going to do?  When I got up in 
the morning I asked their manager and asked them to go to dinner alone.  
I even booked the restaurant and the driver, but Bai Baihe called 
(Christine) Fan Wai Kei, Blackie (Chen Chien-Chou) and Hau Chuen chatted 
all night while Bai Baihe and Fan Fan chatted all night."
	She joked that Hau Chuen was like a schizophrenic.  By the fifth 
day he already became a big kid.  He even forced Bai Baihe to smell the 
stinky slippers that he has worn for several days.  After awhile when 
they saw each other again, Hau Chuen had to warm up all over again.

* (2013/09/12) TVB starlet Angel Chiang Ka Man and model Edward Ma Chi 
Wai's first leads were in the film A SECRET BETWEEN US (DAI YUT CHI BUT 
SI NEI).  Two ights ago it held a premiere in Tsim Sha Tsui.  Director 
Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum), producer Wong Jing and Paco Wong were also 
present.  Artists Michael Miu Kiu Wai, Stephy Tang Lai Yun and TVB 
series COME HOME LOVE's cast as well as Charmaine Sheh Si man supported 
"Young Sheh Si Man" Angel.  Anjaylia Chan Ka Bo who often covered her 
forehead with hair appeared with her forehead.
	Angel and Ma Chi Wai both said that they were nervous.  Ma Chi 
Wai said that the situation was like a wedding banquet. Angel said that 
she asked her friends to show their support.  Lai Yi Lok also promised to 
book a show in support.  Speaking of the intimate scene, Angel pointed 
out that her parents have already watched an advanced screening.  "They 
are very open minded, and since it isn't too revealing, they are very 
happy that I am able to jump out of the television.  Mommy even praises 
Ma Chi Wai as handsome."
	The Yip Lim Sum directed films' female leads are all called Ah 
Bo.  Ah Sheh who has worked with him before said, "The last time I 
worked with Yip Lim Sum it was very pleasant.  This time it's Angel's 
turn.  She is young and needs encouragement.  I come to support her as 
the previous Ah Bo."  She admitted that she has been talking with Yip 
all along about working together again, but they still do not have 
any suitable character yet.
	Ah Sheh earlier signed with TVB and Mainland company formed 
TVBC.  Sh said that the contract will take effect in October.  As for her 
first shot, she said, "I left it for TVB to handle, I believe they are 
coming up with suitable characters."

* (2013/09/12) Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi in July brought her two sons Lucas 
and Quintus to Canada for the summer.  Reportedly Pak Chi intended on 
immigrating, Ting Fung's family could not reached her and Deborah Li was 
missing her grandsons.  Ting Fung has never commented on the rumor.  
Yesterday he suddenly issued a statement about the negative rumor and 
stressed that he, his former wife and children maintained close contact.  
The speculative reports has disturbed his sons and he was afraid that 
they would cause misunderstandings between children and parents.  He 
would reserve the right to take legal action and asked for his children 
to grow up in a disturbance free environment.
	Manager Mani Fok Man Hei was asked if Ting Fung issued the 
statement because the rumors troubled him?  She said that actually Ting 
Fung and Pak Chi stayed in touch for their sons.  He did not want to have 
any grudge between them over the rumors and affect them from taking their 
sons together; yesterday Tse Ting Fung continued to work on the film FROM 
VEGAS TO MACAU (DOH SING FUNG WON).
	Although the recent rumors, Ting Fung still gave reporters a 
friendly wave and smile.  However, he only smiled and did not answer any 
question.  He had his hands in his pockets and chok his way to the 
dressing room.  After a hour he stepped out in make up and costume, with 
a cup of milk tea in his hand he went to the set.  When reporters asked 
if he could do a brief interview, Ting Fung continued his friendly smile.  
"No!  Right now I have to shoot stuff!  Later!"

	Tse Ting Fung asked his law firm to issue a statement to the 
media.

	This firm at Mr. Tse Ting Fung's request expresses regret over 
individual media's untrue report of his former wife, sons and family's 
personal lives and reserve all rights to take legal action.
	This firm also through this statement reiterates, Mr. Tse has 
always maintained close contact with his children and their mother.  The 
aforementioned untrue reports about Mr. Tse and his children obviously 
have crossed the lines between the media and the reported's privacy.
	Mr. Tse deeply believes that friends everywhere would understand 
that such "speculations" without any reference value have already brought 
unnecessary disturbance to the children.  The behavior of individual 
media also has a chance to cause misunderstanding between children and 
parents.
	We hope that friends in the media would recognize the loving 
hearts of Mr. Tse's family for the children and from now on would let the 
children grow up in a healthy and disturbance free environment.

* (2013/09/12) Aaron Kwok Fu Sing earlier attended a Chevignon all new 
fall and winter product press conference and received a 3D real person 
360 degree imaging and 3D printing technology produced image figure.  
Sing Sing praised how highly realistic the figure was to him, even the 
buttons on the lather jacket could be seen very clearly.  He remembered 
after he received the invitation to produce his image figure, he 
immediately put some thought into what he would wear.  Finally he 
chose the Chevignon French Air Force style leather jacket, denim shirt 
and a cotton tee shirt.
	Recently busy promoting his film SILENT WITNESS (CHUEN MUN MUK 
GIK), Sing Sing in the film played a prosecutor who was full of a sense 
of justice and sang the theme song.  Co-star Sun Honglei earlier revealed 
that he offered to introduce a girlfriend in exchange for Sing Sing to 
give up the theme song, but Sing Sing declined; Sing Sing said that he 
was already used to being single and did not need to have a girlfriend.

* (2013/09/12) Ha Chun Chau (Uncle Winter) two nights ago attended the 
red wine event.  He said that he was worried about his daughter Sandra Ng 
Kwan Yu's love life; however, Kwan Yu's brother Ng Kwan Cheung at 
another event revealed that his sister's mood was not affected at all.
	The over 80 year old Uncle Winter in recent years gradually 
eased out of on screen work and only occasionally guest starred in Lunar 
New Year films; aside from on screen pressure he admitted that his 
daughter did not want him to work too hard.  She was afraid that he 
would faint from over night work.  As for Mainland star Tian Pujun 
admitting to be Chan Ho Sun's girlfriend, Uncle winter said, "The print 
is so huge, how can I not see it.  It's pretty hard to deal with, as one 
family doesn't know about the other family's affairs.  (Are you very 
worried?)  Of course, it suddenly blew up.  Aunt Winter is also very 
worried.  We always trust the two of them, but this time sounds very 
convincing."  Uncle Winter admitted that he did not dare to ask as he 
hoped the report was only a rumor.  "Let it to its natural course, let 
them handle it themselves."  Uncle Winter pointed out that he just saw 
Chan Ho Sun last month and proved that Chan Ho Sun and Kwan Yu were very 
close.  They respected and understood each other.  He said, "I didn't see

He also pointed out that Kwan Yu could not be happier lately as she is 
working on a Lunar New Year film.  

* (2013/09/12) Isabella Leong Lok Si recently announced her return to 
film with the Sylvia Chang (Cheung Ngai Ga) directed Taiwan film LIM 
LIM.  Her godfather Anthony Wong Chau Sun two nights ago at an event said 
that he knew about this long ago and rather agreed with it, in particular 
with Cheung Ngai Ga's care he was even more at ease.  Jim Chim Shui Man 
also said that his student Isabella's return to film was a good thing and 
praised her natural talent as she was destined to be in this business.  
Choosing Cheung Ngai Ga's film for her comeback was a wise choice, as it 
avoided being accused of playing favorites among Hong Kong directors who 
invited her to work with them.  Cheung Ngai Ga was also a demanding 
director and would be helpless to her comeback success.
	Isabella was rumored to have chosen this film because she and 
Cheung Ngai Ga's son Oscar were in love.  Chau Sun admitted that he has 
heard many people talking about that but he would not care.  "Not to 
mention goddaughter, I might not even be able to care with my own 
daughter."  Speaking of his impression of Oscar, he said, "I don't know 
him, I only know his mother.  Sylvia is incomparable.  I am handsome, my 
son isn't as handsome as me.  It's very hard to say, just ask those 
involved!"  Chim Shui Man did not put too much stock in the rumor.  "I 
feel she wouldn't.  This (taking the mother's film because of a 
relationship with her son) would be very poor, the Isabella that I know 
wouldn't be so poor."

* (2013/09/12) Chrissie Chau Sau Na and Chapman To Man Jat recently shot 
the promotional poster for the upcoming film release MR. AND MRS. PLAYER 
(LAN GWUN FU DAU LAN GWUN CHAI) with a sexy S and M hardcore flavor.  
They said that they only put on the costumes purely to coordinate with 
their characters, but To Man Jat continued his usual vulgar style.  He 
did not mind wearing underwear to be sexy with Sister Na.
	In the film Ah Jat played a romantic feng shui master who ran 
into Chau Sau Na who loved to screw around.  They had intimate scenes.  
Sister Na praised Ah Jat to be a very humorous co-star, their 
collaboration was very pleasant and did not have any embarrassment.  
Sometimes she would not be able to hold her laughter.  Director Pang Ho 
Cheung performed in the film and Ah Jat revealed that he has always 
wanted to be an actor.  He said, "He isn't as handsome as me, now with 
a little recognition he started to go crazy.  He even told me that 
everyone ask him to make movies only because they appreciate how handsome 
he is."
	Chau Sau Na's other film KICK ASS GIRLS (BAU 3 CHIU GIU WA) will 
be released in November in Hong Kong and Malaysia.  Earlier they shot a 
funny poster.
	Sister Na made a Bruce Lee pose.  DaDa Lo Chung Chi envied 
Sister Na and Cheuk Wan Chi's figures and pulled up her 32B busts with 
her hands to create a career line.  She stated that she wanted to 
bust out of the poster and pull up a future.

* (2013/09/12) Jeana Ho Pui Yu in the film THE BEST PLAN IS NO PLAN (KAU 
NUI BUT LEI 3 HING DAI) had a passionate kiss scene outside the hotel 
with Justin Cheung Kin Sing who played a romantic hunk.  Finally they 
completed it in one take as it was not difficult for them at all.  Jeana 
jokingly complimented Cheung Kin Sing's kissing.  "He kisses skillfully 
and completely brings me into character.  In addition he is very 
attentive and keeps my feelings in mind, as he is clean shaven and 
makes my kiss very comfortable.  He is worthy of a praise."  After 
announcing her on screen retirement and going to Australia, DaDa Chan 
Jing is discovered secretly back in Hong Kong.  Her pal Jeana pointed out 
that recently she sent her a text message and learned that she was 
doing decently.  Yet she did not know that she was already back in Hong 
Kong.  She did not call and disturb her because she knew her pressure 
was enormous.

* (2013/09/12) Leon Lai Ming in the film ONE NIGHT SURPRISE (YUT YEH 
GAING HEI) put down his handsome image.  He not only put a big mole on 
his face but also wore very outdated clothing.  With his country accent 
as soon as he appeared, he already had his co-star Fan Bingbing laughing 
so hard that she was holding her belly.  When they shot a scene in which 
Lai Ming went to the advertising agency to find Fan Bingbing, Lai Ming 
even improvised, danced GANGNAM STYLE and surprised everyone!

* (2013/09/12) Angelababy (Yang Ying) in the film YOUNG DETECTIVE DEE: 
RISE OF THE SEA DRAGON (DIK YUN KIT ji SUN DOH LUNG WONG) played the 
country toppling courtesan Yan Ruiji, which led to Wu Zetian wanting to 
kill her as soon as she saw her.  Tsui Hark took note of Baby's mixed 
heritage background and put her in extremely pretty costumes in the 
film; for the 9 pretty costumes she also suffered a lot.  In order to 
make Baby convincing as a classic lady, she had lessons in Tang Dynasty 
traditions, tea ceremony, dance and guqin.  She also had sexy costumes.  
When she appeared she played an instrument in a sacrifice team, she 
appeared like a Dunhuang flying fairy.  Baby on the sacrifice wagon 
played an instrument and danced.  She even had to put Di Renji under her 
spell with her eyes.  On the rocking wagon, the crew had to stabilize one 
of her feet to the wagon while the other one kicked; the entire way she 
supported her body with half her body strength.  After a day of shooting 
she felt like she was torn into two.  Her leg was numb for a week and 
co-star Mark Chao (Chiu Yau Ting) made fun of him.  Baby also said that 
Tsui Hark asked her to display her beauty, her eyes had to be like she 
was drunk as she had to close them until they were two lines.  The 
result was very seductive.

1. MING PAO DAILY, SEPTEMBER 15 2013, FILM WORDS
TWO SOUTH ASIAN DREAMS, ONE WONG CHI KEUNG

	After the busy season although new films have no red hot giant 
productions, they are not all "bottom of the barrel".  Actually viewers 
have more choices and some are alternative but entertaining films.  This 
week's two South Asian films are unique on their own and worthy of 
support.

THE RELUCTANT FUNDAMENTALIST: Realistic Characters
	THE RELUCTANT FUNDAMENTALIST's Chinese title is less than 
attractive.  Actually this international co-production political thriller 
is rather outstanding.  Indian female director Mira Nair in 1988 with 
SALAAM BOMBAY! became internationally renowned.  Since then she has made 
MONSOON WEDDING, KAMA SUTRA: A TALE OF LOVE and th American Best Actress 
Sigourney Weaver starred famous English films VANITY FAIR.  This new film 
is based on a South Asian American writer's novel that touches on the 
"discrimination" issues of the U.S. toward Muslims and foreigners after 
9-11.  The film also has Hollywood film stars in its cast.
	The lead was a top Pakistani student who studied in the U.S. and 
became a rising Wall Street star, with hopes of becoming a publicly 
traded company partner and even falling in love with New York upper class 
woman Kate Hudson.  Yet 9-11 shattered his "American dream".  He grew 
facial hair and returned home to become an extremist scholar who was 
suspected in participating in the kidnapping of an American professor and 
became wanted by the CIA.  This film was partially in common with the 
Peter Chan Ho Sun's AMERICAN DREAMS IN CHINA that depicted American Dream 
and Chinese Dream, but its political, cultural and international 
relationship depictions are even more complex.  In the film Western 
characters are more realistic -- Kate Hudson, Kiefer Sutherland and Liev 
Schreiber are all outstanding.  The South Asian lead actor Riz Ahmed is 
also convincing and looks the part. (three and a half out of five stars)

BARFI!: Humorous and Romantic
	THE RELUCTANT FUNDAMENTALIST has thrills and suspense, as well 
as international and interracial love and family, it is Mira Nair's 
most heartfelt work but it is not an Indian film.  BARFI! is an authentic 
song and dance Indian film, wonderfully it is also very special because 
Ranbi Kapoor who played Barfi did not sing.  He played a deaf and mute 
Don Juan who had a love triangle with a married beauty and an autistic 
rich girl.  He was also tangled in a mystery and had an inspector on his 
trail for a long time. Director Anurag Basu's technique was very lively, 
smooth and beautiful.  Humorous and romantic the film achieved a dream 
like fantasy.  The male lead was handsome and wonderful, and even 
performed silent film style exciting stunts as he imitated Charlie 
Chaplin, Buster Keaton and France's Max Linder.  The film brought 
innovation amid nostalgia.
	BARFI! only dragged on too long, its subject did not match the 
Hong Kong taste as much as 3 IDIOTS did but its quality was decent.  
Two years ago the Indian film MY NAME IS KHAN was released.  It had both 
an autistic patient and the post 911 aftermath, which now BARFI! and THE 
RELUCTANT FUNDAMENTALIST both performed better with on their own.

THE STOLEN YEARS: Unusual Concept
	This week has three Chinese films, the Mandarin Putonghua 
dialogued THE STOLEN YEARS and ONE NIGHT SURPRIS both had female 
directors and both made over 100 million in th Mainland.  Their Hong Kong 
releases had difficulty breaking out though.  The Barbara Wong Chun Chun 
directed THE STOLEN YEARS maintained her agile technique as it featured 
cell phone videos and its concept was unusual; female lead Bai Baihe 
lost her memory after a car accident and only remembered the loving 
honeymoon with her husband Joseph Chang.  She forgot why she had a change 
of heart and a divorce.  The first half of the story had romance and 
fun, the wonderful girl was a lot of fun and the guy was kind.  
Unfortunately the second half turned into a terminal illness tragedy.  
Overall it was no match for Wong Chun Chun's Hong Kong film THE BREAK UP 
CLUB (FUN SAU SHUET OI NI), but it was better than ONE NIGHT SURPRISE.
(two and a half out of five stars)

ONE NIGHT SURPRISE: Excessively "Pretentious"
	ONE NIGHT SURPRISE's Mainland director Eva Jin has made the Zhang 
Ziyi starred hit female decadence comedy SOPHIE'S REVENGE.  This time she 
also sold the Mainland city white collar beauty's modern decadence.  Fan 
Bingbing played an advertising agency genius who after a birthday party 
became pregnant, but she had no idea who the father was and lead to a 
series of bumbling and stumbling.  Finally she fell in love with the loyal 
and faithful Aarif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting).  The Mainland has been making 
more and more of this type of modern women films that very easily made 
over 100 million, but often they were excessively "pretentious" and 
superfluous. (one and a half out of five stars)

A SECRET BETWEEN US: Simple And Solid
	The only pure Hong Kong Cantonese film was the Wong Jing 
produced, the Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum) written and directed A SECRET 
BETWEEN US (DAI YUT CHI BUT SI NEI) was surprisingly simple and solid, 
depicting leads Edward Ma Chi Wai and Angel Chiang Ka Man running into 
each other after a long time apart as it brought back their past of 
growing up in the poor and narrow alleys of Cha Kwo Ling.  From growing 
up together to innocent first love, to the young girl selling herself to 
save her mother, years after breaking up they still could not forget each 
other.  The story was somewhat like an ancient Cantonese film that would 
have difficulty attracting the mischievous and misbehaving new 
generation.  Fortunately it was not superficial and had no vulgar 
gimmick while capturing nostalgia.  Both new stars performed convincingly 
and their child stars were also decent.  Many scenes achieved dramatic 
flavor, especially when the male lead walked his love to work and often 
waited bitterly on the streets; the female lead liked to bite him and 
scream his name "Wong Chi Keung", which were very touching.  Here I have 
to make "declaration of interest", my real name is one of the countless 
Wong Chi Keung.  When I watched this film of course I was biased, the 
feeling from it was more than passing. (three out of five stars)

2. APPLE DAILY, SEPTEMBER 12 2013, BIG PLANNING
HOW MUCH ARE NAMED DIRECTORS WORTH

	This is an age when numbers matter.  In the film world, box 
office is everything.  In 2012, the China total box office reached 16.8 
billion yuan.  Chinese film box office was around 8.2 billion yuan.  Out 
of the top ten high grossing Chinese films, seven were co-productions and 
the total box office was 1.9 billion yuan.  Such a shocking number 
brought a logical explanation for Hong Kong directors' astronomical film 
salaries.  The problem is, before carrying the famous director label 
north for the gold rush, how much blood, sweat and money flowed like 
water in a stream?  - FUNG KWOK HONG

John Woo (Ng Yu Sum)
Worth: 38 million (Hollywood salary US$5 million)
	The art of violence that was displayed in A BETTER TOMORROW 
(YING HUNG BOON SIK) and THE KILLER (DIP HUET SEUNG HUNG) absolutely did 
not pale in comparison to Quentin Tarantino's.  Ng Yu Sum was among the 
first wave of the Hong Kong director who tried his luck in Hollywood.  
The success of FACE/OFF rocketed his worth.  Yet, Hong Kong directors 
often ran into restrictions in Hollywood, thus in recent years he has 
returned to make Chinese films and invested some of his salary.  He is 
working on the "Chinese TITANIC" THE CROSSING (SUN SEI LUEN) with Zhang 
Ziyi, Song Hye-Kyo and Takeshi Kaneshiro (Gum Sing Mo).

Peter Chan Ho Sun
Worth: 19.5 million (director, producer, screen writer)
	Although due to "girlfriend" Tian Pujun he became a news figure, 
conceivably he still had peace of mind because his film AMERICAN DREAMS 
IN CHINA made over 500 million RMB in the Mainland and erased all the 
pressure from previous box office bombs like THE WARLORD (TAU MING JONG) 
and WU XIA.  Chan Ho Sun from ALAN AND ERIC: BETWEEN HELLO AND GOODBYE 
(SEUNG SING GOO SI), COMRADES ALMOST A LOVE STORY (TIM MUK MUK) and the 
most recently AMERICAN DREAMS IN CHINA has always been able to tug at 
viewers' heart strings.  No wonder he has been chosen as the director with 
the most box office draw.

Derek Yee Tung Sing
Worth: 12 million (director, producer)
	Excelled in capturing the most realistic and the darkest sides of 
society in detail, he often touched a nerve with the audience's 
emotions.  When he made THE SHINJUKU INCIDENT (SUN SHOOK SI GEIN), he 
had the bold ambition of rather giving up the Mainland market instead of 
cutting the film.  Yet in recent years he ultimately had to let go and 
head north for the gold rush.  Last year he made THE GREAT MAGICIAN (DAI 
MOR SHOOK SI), despite the diamond cast of Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Sean Lau 
Ching Wan and Zhou Xun the film was less than perfect and made people 
miss the THE LUNATICS (DIN LO JING JUEN) era Yee Tung Sing.

Johnnie To Kei Fung
Worth: 10 million
	Once considered the spiritual pillar of Hong Kong film's last 
line of defense, for years his films would only shoot on location in the 
Mainland and rarely were co-productions because his film occasionally 
had mob subjects that could not possibly pass film censor inspections.  
Yet To Kei Fung never said that he was against going north. This time 
the Louis Koo Tin Lok and Sun Honglei starred film DRUG WAR (DUK JIN) 
perfectly demonstrated the best of the co-production films.  It was able 
to follow the Mainland market rules of the game without losing its film 
company Milkyway Image's style, as he displayed his master class 
presence.

Tsui Hark
Worth: 10 Million (director, producer)
	One of the Hong Kong new wave director representative figures, he 
was also among the first wave of Hong Kong directors who headed north for 
the gold rush.  His ONCE UPON A TIME IN CHINA (WONG FEI HUNG) film 
series displayed an unique heroic style.  In recent years he focused on 
making China Hong Kong giant co-production, of course they were mainly wu 
xia films that won Mainland viewer recognition.  Two years old FLYING 
SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE (LUNG MOON FEI GAP) "causally" made 500 million at 
the Mainland box office.  Although Tsui Hark's salary was high, he in 
order to maintain film quality would "chip in" to wrap up.  Sometimes he 
might even have lost his salary.

Wilson Yip Wai Shun
Worth: 10 Million
	Perhaps his early work BIO-ZOMBIE (SUN FA SAU SI) and BULLET OVER 
SUMMER (BAU LIT YING GAING) were not enough to make people remember this 
handsome director, Wilson Yip Wai Shun had to wait until 2008 to team 
with the Strongest in the Universe Donnie Yen Chi Tan to make IP MAN and 
make a name for himself in the Mainland.  His salary also rose.  Yen Chi 
Tan even stated that he would not make IP MAN 3 without Yip Wai Shun.  
Yet since two years ago his film with Louis Koo Tin Lok and Wu Chun MAGIC 
TO WIN (HOI SUM MOR FAT) bombed, investors felt that the salary that he 
asked for was too high.

Jeff Lau Chun Wai
Worth: 8 Million
	No one ever suspected Lau Chun Wai's ability to make comedy films 
from pairing with Stephen Chow Sing Chi on ALL FOR THE WINNER (DOH SING), 
OUT OF THE DARK (WUI WON YEH) and CHINESE ODYSSEY: PARDORA'S BOX (YUET 
GUONG BO HUP) to the star studded EAGLE SHOOTING HEROES (DONG SING SAI 
JAU) they were all classics among classics.  Yet after he switched to 
work in the Mainland he gave people the impression that he was "taking 
advantage of his past success".  Even the Chinese title was same as his 
old work, EAST MEETS WEST 2011 (DONG SING SAI JAU 2011) promoted that 
extras were stars too but online criticism pounded it into the ground.  
Even Buddha was shown no mercy!

Andrew Lau Wai Kung
Salary: 8 Million
	With the YOUNG AND DANGEROUS (GOO WAT JAT) film series he created 
a Hong Kong film legend.  After the Millennium he with the INFERNAL 
AFFAIRS (MO GAN DOH) film series brought Hong Kong film back from the 
dead.  Lau Wai Kung absolutely was a gold label.  Unfortunately last year 
he made the Ethan Juan (Yuen King Tin), Huang Xiaoming and Shawn Yue Man 
Lok starred THE GUILLOTINES (HUET DIK JI) that bombed.  He attempted to 
mix the Chinese and Hong Kong elements to create a costume version YOUNG 
AND DANGEROUS but inbreeding could only yield odd offsprings.  With big 
stars and big investment the film's box office was far less than 
expected.

Pang Ho Cheung
Worth: 6 Million
	Genius director who often mad "unexpected" stories, he often 
made native subjects with a lot of fun.  Last year his film VULGARIA (DAI 
JOOK HEI KET) was a pure Hong Kong film.  Foul language with a suitable 
amount of sex was just right for the Hong Kong appetite.  Its box office 
made 30 million and elevated him to the famous director class.  His 
genius was also suitable for co-productions.  Last year he directed LOVE 
IN THE BUFF (CHUN GIU YU JI MING) that successfully made the story 
logically, and thanks to his life in Beijing he was familiar with local 
culture.

Gordon Chan Ka Seung
Worth: 6 Million
	Started as a screen writer, Chan Ka Seung was known for his 
agile positioning.  Having made FIGHT BACK TO SCHOOL (TOH HOK WAI LUNG) 
and THE FINAL OPTION (FEI FU HUNG SUM), he was best known for his Special 
Duties Unit films.  In 2008 he made the co-production PAINTED SKIN (WAT 
PEI) and told the story with demons instead of ghosts.  He successfully 
passed inspections and made 230 million at the box office, blazing a 
trail for the Mainland ghost film.  Unfortunately his later films THE 
MURAL (WAT BIK) and THE FOUR (SEI DAI MING BO) were box office hits but 
word of mouth bombs.

Dante Lam Chiu Yin
Worth: 6 Million
	Catching attention again as the director of UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN), 
his work was known to be steady and solid.  In the past he often worked 
with Gordon Chan Ka Seung and Chan Hing Ka, police film in particular was 
his expertise.  He was also very familiar with the police force 
operation and gun use details.  Before making hits like BEAST STALKER 
(JING YUN) and THE STOOL PIGEON (SIN YUN), Lam Chiu Yin also fell into a 
low period like forcing comedy elements into HEAT TEAM (CHUNG ONG CHI MA 
GUN) and was destined for failure. 

Alan Mak Siu Fai, Felix Chong Man Keung
Total Worth: 8 Million
	The INFERNAL AFFAIRS (MO GAN DOH) film series golden screen 
writing team has worked together for many years.  In 2008 they directed 
LADY COP AND PAPA CROOK (DAI SAU CHA JI NUI) was considered average.  The 
next year they directed OVERHEARD (SIT TING FUNG WON) made over 100 
million yuan in the Mainland, which made Mak Siu Fai and Chong Man Keung 
into the hundred million director club.  However they also ran into 
situation that they needed to acclimated to, two years ago they directed 
THE LOST BLADESMAN (GUAN WON CHEUNG) and could not jump out the "costume 
armor film" that has been ruined and received a tidal wave of poor 
review.

Wong Jing
Worth: 4 Million
	Although known as a "rotten film king" his film like THE 
ROMANCING STAR (JING JONG JUI NUI JAI) was conventional enough yet had 
deep meaning, all were full of native colors.  Wong Jing in recent years 
not only made serious big productions like THE LAST TYCOON (DAI SEUNG 
HOI) would also occasionally make some Hong Kong style comedy.  Like the 
last year release Chapman To Man Jat and Fiona Sit Hoi Kei starred MR. 
AND MRS. GAMBLER (LAN DOH FU DAU LAN DOH CHAI), he began with his 
gambling film expertise as a warm up for his next year release, the Chow 
Yun Fat starred FROM VEGAS TO MACAU (DOH SING FUN WON).

Benny Chan Muk Sing
Worth: 4 Million
	Having been in TVB for years, in 1990 he directed his film A 
MOMENT OF ROMANCE (TIN YEUK YAU CHING) he already had flashes of 
brilliance.  Later his BIG BULLET (CHUNG FUNG DUI LO FOR GAI TAU) even 
opened people's eyes.  Used to making police films he three years worked 
on the difficult action film CITY UNDER SEIGE (CHUEN SING GAI BEI), 
mixing in different elements but the effort was more trouble than it was 
worth.  This year he returns to Hong Kong film with THE WHITE STORM (SO 
DUK), with the star power of Sean Lau Ching Wan, Nick Cheung Ka Fai and 
Louis Koo Tin Lok.  We should see if he will be able to pick up where he 
left off.

Ann Hui On Wa
Worth: 2 Million
	Another new wave filmmaker representative figure who was used to 
examining social problems with realistic methods, hr work was full of 
people culture and color.  The "Vietnam Trilogy" (FROM VIETNAM (LOI HAK), 
THE STORY OF WOO VIET (WU YUET DIK GOO SI) and BOAT PEOPLE (TAU BUN LO 
HOI) became her claims to fame.  She also was the director with the most 
Hong Kong Film Award for Best Director with four.  She rarely 
participated in big productions and often kept her investors in mind.  
She never charged high salary.

Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum) 
Worth: 2 Million (director, screen writer)
	Known for his realistic romance that captured blatant romance, 
crush, immoral and odd romances especially the Alex Fong Lik Sun and 
Stephy Tang Lai Yun starred "LOVE TRILOGY" MARRIAGE WITH A FOOL (DUK GA 
SI OI), LOVE IS NOT ALL AROUND (SUP FUN OI) and L FOR LOVE L FOR LIES 
(NGOR DIK JUI OI) were the most popular.  Two years ago Yip Lim Sum tested 
the water with the Eason Chan Yik Shun, Bai Bing, Harlem Yu and Rene Liu 
starred co-production MR. AND MRS. SINGLE (YUN FUN NAM NUI).  In order to 
please th Mainland viewers he lost himself, finally the film became a 
rotten film.

Sunny Luk Kim Ching, Longman Leung Lok Man
Total Worth: 4 million
	Undoubtedly, Luk Kim Ching and Leung Lok Man were the successful 
examples of "new" Hong Kong directors in recent years.  Last year they 
directed COLD WAR (HONG JIN) for the first time and won all the box 
office and word of mouth as well as the Hong Kong Film Award for Best 
Director.  Actually they were no new comers at all.  Luk Kim Ching has 
been an assistant director for years and even guest starred in KING OF 
COMEDY (HEI KET JI WONG) (shaking hands with Sing Yeh)!  Last year when 
they made COLD WAR their salary was only HK$500,000.  Reportedly they 
are working on the Universe new film as their salaries rose to 4 million.

Alex Law Kai Yui, Mabel Cheung Yuen Ting
Worth : Total 3 million
	Alex Law Kai Yui and Mabel Cheung Yuen Ting were known as the 
"Film Industry Condor Couple".  Their work often used small figures' 
lives a s blue prints and had strong native nostalgia.  Three years ago 
ECHOES OF THE RAINBOW (SHUI YUET SUN TAU) took place in the 60s Hong 
Kong and depicted the Hong Kong spirit of self reliance and not giving 
up.  This film even garnered international honor with a Berlin Film 
Festival crystal bear prize.  Cheung and Law will start production on SUT 
LOK DIK PING TOH (LOST PUZZLE) and continue their small budget ways.

Adam Wong Sau Ping
Worth: 300,000
	The most talked about directors lately had to be Wong Sau Ping.  
With a small budget THE WAY WE DANCE (KONG MO PAI) was actually a small 
surprise hit without any promotion, star and with an alternative subject.  
Its box office passed 10 million.  However before that, even in 2007 when 
he directed MAGIC BOY (MOR SHOOK NAM) Wong Sau Ping still was not 
recognized outside.  Thus his WAY salary was only 300,000.  Th entire 
film only cost 5.3 million.

Others: 
	Talented Hong Kong directors are numerous, how could we miss Wong 
Kar Wai and Stephen Chow Sing Chi?  However they have already formed 
their own companies and their salaries have already been calculated into 
the film production budgets.  Thus they had no accurate numbers.  For 
example with the earlier Mainland 1.3 billion yuan hit JOURNEY TO THE 
WEST: CONQUERING THE DEMON (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN), Sing Yeh perhaps 
pocketed 30 million in salary.

Special: Hong Kong Directors Have Opportunity For Integration
	The film industry has a golden rule -- a minor change every five 
years and a major change every ten.  A minor change referred to subject 
adjustment due to trends; a major change, to the film industry periodic 
fall and rise.  In 2003, SARS and piracy impacted the local film 
industry.  Later the government began the Closer Economic Partnership 
Accord and gradually the market revived.  Ten years later today, the 
film industry faces another crisis as Hong Kong directors all head 
north and lead to a severe loss of personnel.
	This of course is not the director's fault, but a sign of the 
times.  Undoubtedly, some directors had high ideals and made movies to 
purely satisfy the audience.  Yet the majority was trying to make a 
living.  When they head north for a co-production, they can casually make 
several million in salary.  How can the small budget operation of Hong 
Kong films compare?  This also explains why people flock to this career.  
Aside from the joy of being in charge on the set, on a certain level they 
also long to have this "too unreasonably" high salary.

With Both Cultivation and Encouragement
	Actually the industry long ago already expected that big 
director losses and less and less native films, in order to prevent 
further film industry shrinkage the industry in recent years has already 
taken to two policies: cultivating new comers and encouraging new 
comers.  The Hong Kong Art Development Council starting in 2005 organized 
the "Fresh Wave" project.  It had an unique master and disciple system, 
as young creators under the guidance of elders like Johnnie To Kei Fung 
and Chow Yun Fat fulfilled their directing dreams.  As for encouragement, 
this year's Hong Kong Film Award Best Director nominations showed some 
signs: Soi Cheang Po Shui, Law Chi Leung, Pang Ho Cheung, Dante Lam Chiu 
Yin, Longman Leung Lok Man, Sunny Luk Kim Ching.  They were all rising 
directors in recent years.  Aside from their substance being recognized, 
conceivably they also had special consideration elements.
	As Hong Kong directors flocked north to make RMB, actually it was 
also an opportunity for the rising ones to take over.  Pang Ho Cheung 
once described this situation as "pawn shop robbery".  "Everyone is 
robbing jewelry stores, but you suddenly realize that there is a pawn 
shop.  I know pawn shop has less money, but it really doesn't have any 
security guard!"  From MEN SUDDENLY IN BLACK (DAI JEUNG FU), AV, LOVE IN 
A PUFF (JI MING YU CHUN GIU) to VULGARIA, Director Pang slowly built a 
personal style.  Today he has already earned admission into the hundred 
million director club.

Withering Determination, Paying To Making Movies
	Unfortunately how many Pang Ho Cheung are in the world?  The road 
of a director is often full of twists and turns, many before turning into 
famous directors have already lost their determination.  Wong Sau Ping 
over the years kept coming back for more and finally rose to fame with 
THE WAY WE DANCE (KONG MO PAI).  Yet at first when he tried to find 
investors he ran into door after door; Luk Kim Ching and Leung Lok Man's 
stories perhaps were even more tragic.  If they did not direct COLD WAR 
with an extremely low price they might still be assistant director and 
art director today.  Many new directors do not even keep in mind salary 
or even pay to make movies but they end up buried at sea.  Reality proves 
no matter how far you go you may not be able to fulfill your director 
dream.  Ultimately it relies on film companies, investors, filmmakers, 
and government coordination and assistance to bear fruit.  Only with 
complete training, ample opportunity and financial group encouragement, 
Hong Kong can cultivate the next Wong Kar Wai.

  tortures him at home, and then Eddie Peng’s Qi, a hunk of a young man
  entering an MMA tournament to prove something, pesters him at the gym.
  Sure they make his life hell, but again, they may be angels in
  disguise. With exhilarating kick-boxing scenes edited at a furious pace
  abundant, director Dante Lam also fashions a warming drama about love,
  loyalty and redemption.

  When he got home, he was told by his mother that Bobo’s mother had
  passed away unexpectedly. Bobo and her younger sister were taken away

  Bobo’s sudden disappearance ten years ago still lingered Ken’s heart.
  Their reunion forced them to walk through the time tunnel which stirred
  up every bit and piece of their past memories. Life is like a roller
  coaster with ups and downs and is ever-changing. What exactly have Ken

	In the last film he lived to see released, director Park Cheol 
Soo explores human obsessive desire for sex. Based on a short novel of 
the same name, B.E.D. is told through the eyes of the three main 
characters, whose joy, passion, despair and death overflow into one bed. 
The man B. has an affair with a bored married woman E., who eventually 
dumps him. In order to get over E., B. marries D., a divorcee with a 
small daughter, but still keeps the bed in which he made love with E. His 
obsession with E. never goes away, as he attempts to get her back.

	The powerful, boundary-pushing drama that put director Park Cheol 
Soo on the map, 301, 302 explores the stories of two neighboring women, 
one who suffers from binge-eating, and the other from anorexia. First at 
odds with each other, the two women realize that their struggles and dark 
pasts are not that different – and that their disorders may ultimately 
bring them together in a very unexpected way. Breaking free from 
traditional Korean storytelling, the film achieved massive success and 
became one of the first Korean movies released in North American cinemas.
