In the story Ting Fung's brother Philip Ng Won Lung was critically injured and Fat Gor's daughter Tong Fei lost her memory after being attacked. Fat Gor visited her at the hospital. The International superstar Fat Gor was still very friendly. As soon as he arrived he greeted the crew and the cast. After one of the shots the crew asked for another take. Fat Gor asked with a smile, "What needs to improve?" The crew explained that the actor who played the doctor was not clear enough with his delivery. Wong Man Tak, Jing Tian and Macau actor Carlos Koo Tin Cheung took photos with Fat Gor during their breaks. Fat Gor took the phones and shot the self pictures. He seemed to be particularly interested in Koo Tin Chung and often asked him about his heritage. Koo Tin Cheung said that he has Spanish heritage and Fat Gor jokingly asked, "How did your old man meet your Ma?" The atmosphere was lightened even more. This time Fat Gor worked with many new comers. He joked, "How are they still new? Tong Fei and I already worked together on THE LAST TYCOON (DAI SEUNG HOI), (Sammy) Sum Chun Hin has worked on many television series. I should be the one who calls them masters." Will Fat Gor later have a fight scene with Sum Chun Hin? Fat Gor joked, "No need to fight, I shot him. Leave the fighting to (Max) Zhang Jun and Ting Fung. People like us throw poison darts, releasing poisonous snakes and laughing." Did Fat Gor who has always been a television series fan watch the Miss Hong Kong pageant? He said, "I watched it a little, but without any song and dance now it is an one trick pony." Speaking of audience voting, Fat Gor said, "I don't know, I don't know how to vote, online? I like the more traditional ways like it used to have, it's like moon cake, the traditional ones are more delicious." * (2013/08/28) Aaron Kwok Fu Sing last Sunday attended the film SILENT WITNESS (CHUEN MUN MUK GIK) press conference. The film slogan was "What you see may not be the truth". Sun Honglei joked with Sing Sing, "If you let me sing the theme song, I will introduce a girlfriend to you." Sing Sing smiled and replied, "No need, I now rather enjoy being single, but the song can have a duet version." * (2013/08/28) Cherie Chung Chor Hung yesterday attended an opening ceremony for Longine's Tsim Sha Tsui Harbor City all new flagship store. Hit television series TRIUMPH IN THE SKIES 2 (CHUNG SEUNG WON SIU II) stars Kenneth Ma Kwok Ming, Ron Ng Cheuk Hei and Quinn Ho Kwan Sing were pilot uniforms and casual wear to model the latest watches. Hung Goo who rarely followed television series revealed that she has been watching TRIUMPH 2 and pointed out that the series was filled with handsome men and beautiful women; Ma Kwok Ming and Ng Cheuk Hei said that Hung Goo was their dream girl. Speaking of Joey Wang Cho Yin's recent appearance in Hong Kong, Hung Goo protected Wang Cho Yin. She said that Wang Cho Yin was very pretty, she only looked strange due to the surprise of the media. Was Hung Goo interested in making a series? She said, "I have never worked on a series, it should be pretty fun because it has coherence. However no one has ever asked if I wanted to make a series. If I was asked, I would only decide to try it or not based on the situation and the subject." As for film, she has always been receiving comeback offers but she has not been tempted yet because the characters were repeats; she wanted to be able to challenge herself and play characters that she has never played before. She knew that Wang Cho Yin earlier returned to Hong Kong. Some said that she was better maintained than Wang Cho Yin, Hung Goo played coy and said, "No way? What is good about it? (You are purely natural?) Really? Thank you." As for Wang Cho Yin being accused of changing her face, which looked plastic and seemed to have been worked on, Hung Goo said that it was a camera angle issue. "Only when the media surprised her would they catch her with such a strange look, she is so pretty!" Did Hung Goo feel bad for Wang Cho Yin due to all the comments? Hung Goo said, "I have been criticized before too, since I appear I expect it. You can't change and control how others see you. I understand women mind how they look very much, but if they mind every time they would suffer a lot and be unhappy. I don't mind how others see me, the most important is to be happy myself and choose the life that I like." Yesterday a magazine claimed that Real Ting Chi Ko planned Wang Cho Yin's return to Hong Kong as he was looking for a spokesmodel for a beauty product brand. Yet due to the overwhelmingly negative response the collaboration has been scrapped. Ting Chi Ko yesterday represented Collaboration Group's OSIAO brand and issued a statement to deny that he contacted and invited Wang Cho Yin to be the brand spokesmodel. The brand last year has already signed another spokesmodel, who has completed the advertising campaign long ago. * (2013/08/27) The Tsui Hark directed new film YOUNG DETECTIVE DEE: RISE OF THE DRAGON KING (DIK YUN KIT JI SUN DOH LUNG WONG) will soon be released. Aside from Carina Lau Ka Ling and Angelababy Yang Ying, it also has Mark Chao (Chiu Yau Ting), Feng Shaofeng and Lin Gengxin. Recently the film company released a production special. Mark Chao played Di Renjie, Feng Shaofeng played Yuchi Zhenjin, Lin Gengxi played Sha Tuozhong. In the film Mark Chao and Lin Gengxin's friendship hid a same sex relationship. No wonder when Mark Chao talked about his relationship with Lin Gengxin in the film he said, "Everything is in the unspoken......he and I......forget it I am not saying, when a gay relationship comes you often can't block it." * (2013/08/27) Leon Lai Ming yesterday attended an UNICEF fund raising event press conference. Lai Ming donated his money as well as effort and has been donating steadily. Supposedly he took over for John Lone to star with Fan Bingbing in the film YANG GUIFEI, which halted production when its Korean director quit. He will play Emperor Ming of Tang. Lai Ming admitted that he has taken the role and earlier has already attended costume fitting. He will head to the Mainland for 3 months for the production within days. The shoot location will shoot from hot to cold and from cold to hot again. As for his role and whether there was any script change, he said, "The production team didn't tell me to say anything, I am not at liberty to talk about it. Everyone should ask the production, if the script is good I take it. (Is the character very attractive?) The script is good. If just my character is good it is useless, it would be like a beauty pageant of one, a solo show." Did he know that the character was originally John Lone's? Lai Ming said that he has heard about it. Did he mind being accused of being the second choice? He said, "Even if I am the tenth choice I wouldn't care, I don't mind! I never think like this, life has many choices. I can choose you, you can choose me. Why was the film stopped, broken up and repackaged, you have to ask the film company. It's not for me to say." Was it no longer directed by a Korean director? He said no, now it is a Mainland director. * (2013/08/27) The YOUNG AND DANGEROUS (GOO WAT JAI) film series' Dior Cheng Yi Kin, Jordan Chan Siu Chun, Jerry Lamb Hiu Fung, Chin Kar Lok and Michael Tse Tin Wa yesterday announced its Hong Kong Coliseum concert series from November 7 to 10. Boss Peter Lam Kin Ngok, friend Andrew Lau Wai Keung, Wilson Chin Kwok Wai and others showed their support. Eric Tsang Chi Wai sent a video to make fun of them, "I hope they perform a blood bond ceremony on the stage. If not that then they can streak to thank the audience." Friend Eric Kot Man Fai trained their 6 pack abdominal muscles as the "demon coach". Chin Kar Lok also performed a flip to display his kung fu. He said, "After years of kung fu, this time I want to become a musician. Action actors rarely perform at the Hong Kong Coliseum, I definitely will take opportunities to sing several drinking songs. When I recorded I had troubles galore, but I completely relied on the brotherhood. I was truly very happy." Will he train his abdominal muscles to remove his shirt on the stag? Siu Chun said, "Why do we have to bare all? Is it a duck (gigolo) shop? If everyone wants chocolate, I have a few bars in my pocket." Ekin watched the YOUNG AND DANGEROUS film series again. Actually many actors have participated, even Best Actors. Perhaps they will save a spot to invite them to the stage. Lam Hiu Fung said that YOUNG AND DANGEROUS was a Hong Kong memory, he hoped everyone would save their suggestions on social platforms. He said, "If you want exclusives, we will reveal secrets about each other in the finale. I hope viewers would experience our friendship and leave teary eyed." He revealed that when they recorded their new song VANISHING TIME (SIU SUT DIK GUONG YUM), both Siu Chun and Chin Kar Lok were crying. Siu Chun explained, "The lyrics were right on point, it was very touching." * (2013/08/26) Busy working on the Lunar New Year film with Chow Yun Fat, Nicholas Tse Ting Fung has been rumored to be working with Gao Yuanyuan on the LOVE IS NOT BLIND producer Teng Huatao and Emperor 100 million RMB new film YUT SUN YUT SAI (tentative title). They will play from age 18 or 19 to their 30s. The love story will not only be gut wrenching but also have passionate kiss scenes and fiery scenes. Zhang Ziyi and Zhou Xun were among those considered, but because the female lead character had to play a student Teng Huatao finally confirmed Yuanyuan's performance and put a stop to Ting Fung and Zhou Xun's rare big screen romance opportunity. Now only details needed to be arranged. Ting Fung's manager Mani Fok Man Hei said, "The plan seems to be that way, but the details have not been confirmed yet so we don't have anything to announce." * (2013/08/26) Anita Yuen Wing Yi yesterday posted a photo of her former co-stars online. She had Tony Leung Chiu Wai on the left and Jacky Cheung Hok Yau on the right, DAYS OF BEING DUMB (AH FEI YU AH GEI) had a rare reunion. Also present were Carina Lau Ka Ling and Tony Leung Ka Fai, with Wai Jai and Len Len the four was the lead cast for the 1993 film HE AIN'T HEAVY HE'S MY FATHER (SUN LAN HING LAN DAI). * (2013/08/26) Famous Cantonese Opera actor Lam Ka Sing yesterday was invited to attend a Chinese Opera event at the Academy of Performing Arts. At age 80 with Parkinson's disease, he looked spirited yesterday and once even gave up his wheelchair as the host helped him walk out to the stage. He received applause and waved to everyone. He represented the "Lam Ka Sing charity fund" and donated HK$250,000 to the Academy of Performing Arts to promote Cantonese Opera development. He also presented his performance specials to the academy representative for educational purposes. At the forum, Lam Ka Sing mentioned his film industry achievements. He said that he has made over 300 films, with wuxia films and romance among them. However he regretted that he never played a villain. He said, "I really wanted to play a villain, but no one asked me!" He said that at the time he still liked Cantonese Opera very much, thus he decided to leave film to concentrate on Opera development. "It was fine when I wasn't famous, after I was I didn't even have time to sleep. On the other hand the stage had no restriction, as soon as I stepped out of the stage door I was able to put my hobby on display." * (2013/08/26) The film HARDCORE COMEDY (CHUNG HAU MEI) two nights ago held a promotion. DaDa Chan Jing remained absent. Producer Ng Kin Hung said that the contract stipulated that actors had to promote, thus he will sue DaDa's management company. He stressed that the move was not targeting anyone. The team sent chubby girl Yuet Sum, Susan Shaw Yam Yam also put a fake chest on Wai Si Nga and made her feel awkward. Wai Si Nga joked that she had no figure, if the film performed well at the box office sh would ask Yuet Sum to celebrate. Earlier she invited her parents to watch the film. She did not expect her mother to ask her why she did not watch adult films after watching and still was able to play such a reaction. Kelvin Kwan Chor Yiu praised Wai Si Nga's performance. As for DaDa's moderate depression, he said, "She should stay home and rest, taking care of her psychological quality first." * (2013/08/26) The retired for years goddess of a generation Joey Wang Cho Yin spent a few days on holiday in Hong Kong. Earlier she was caught on camera and for days her photos have been posted online to prove from multiple angles that her beauty has not "faded". Yesterday, Joey Wang posted many photos that were taken at the airport. Her friend wrote, "To all Yin fans, your support for Joey Joey already knows about. She has already received it." She said that Joey Wang has returned to Canada to continue her life. Seemingly her comeback rumors have been dispelled. * (2013/08/25) Earlier announcing her retirement, DaDa Chan Jing recently released her doctor's note to prove that she had depression. Many industry insiders and people online were puzzled, thinking that since she announced her retirement why would she need to show proof. They speculated that she might be paving her way to a "comeback". DaDa's manager Celia Sie Lim Chi yesterday responded, "Earlier the company issued a statement. The company was willing to face and resolve Chan Jing's moods and pressure. A health condition doesn't mean that you don't need to handle your work. You should seek a suitable way to handle it. Because she didn't communicate with the company, the matter can only be handed to the lawyers. I am not at liberty to say too much." * (2013/08/25) Artists Michelle Wai Si Nga and Leung Ka Kei yesterday attended an event. Wai Si Nga revealed that in an upcoming film she will play a patient and thus had to lose weight on a diet. "Because I want to look more sick, I couldn't lose the weight with exercise. However after watching (Nick) Cheung Ka Fai's UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN) I don't feel I have it so tough." Speaking of earlier Ka Fai due to weight loss had a recurrence of emotional disorder, she said that each actor had a little emotional disorder. "I am not afraid that I would have it too. Now I know how to adjust. (DaDa Chan Jing also has depression.) Hopefully she will get better soon, but I see that she is very optimistic." * (2013/08/25) Chapman To Man Jat and Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin in the Emperor new film THE MIDAS TOUCH (CHIU CUP GAING LEI YUN) worked together. In real life they both belong to manager Mani Fok Man Hei, which was handy to their performance. Ah Sa recalled that after years of working with Mani, the most memorable "bomb defusing" experience was her divorce press conference with former husband Ronald Cheng Chung Kei. Ah Jat also admitted that he and Mani had days when they had difference of opinions. C: Charlene Choi, T: Chapman To C: To Man Jat, do you know I used to hate you very much. T: I know, once Cheng Chung Kei and I went drinking, you kept calling. I grabbed the phone and cursed you out. C: I used to think that your mouth was beyond foul, why would someone cross others at every second and every moment? However I forgave you because I felt that after you became a Buddhist you quit a lot of things. You even learned to change how you spoke, now I turn into worshipping you. You can honestly face yourself, others and the society. I treat you like a Hong Kong hero, now very few people can be so true. T: After I signed with Emperor and being in the same company as you we are fine. This time we even worked together on THE MIDAS TOUCH (CHIU CUP GAING LEI YUN). Actually you and manager Mani have worked together for so many years, what was the most memorable? C: Probably the divorce press conference. There are many company managers out there who in order to protect their own artists may attack others or each other, but I didn't want the matter to turn into an argument. Mani handled that time very well and made me feel very comfortable. Everyone grind their teeth to face it. If more troubles came from it, the days of suffering would only be longer. What about you? How do you feel about Mani? T: Mani and I have had conflicts. I feel that honesty is important in collaborations, don't hide your personal feeling. Once she wanted me to appear on a very popular program in the Mainland, but I didn't want to go. We had a difference of opinion. I understood that she was my manager and could make me move. I saw all the ways she used to find this opportunity for me to go. I thought if I was unwilling to go, it would be very dreary for her. Sometimes over stuff like this we would talk, with communication we were able to build a friendship. C: Actually why would you and I become friends? T: Your thinking is very mature, but why do people always feel I am much older than you? Maybe because you started when you were very young and had ample experience. Actually you and I are pretty close in age, only that you work 24 hours a day and I would make one movie every few years. Although you started later than me, your work rate and experience are higher than mine. I admire your high emotional quotient, you can see everything in a very gentle way. Your motto is "whatever", proving that you can understand that in this business you can be stubborn and persistent about some things. Thus you can only face it with "whatever". C: You and I share an interest -- eating, thus we have a lot more to talk about. Actually do you have any fatal flaw that as soon as it is mentioned you would get upset? T: I don't really have any, why would you have something that even you can accept? How would you accept working in the business then! C: For you it's back to "whatever". The most important is how you see yourself, the most important is that you are happy. You can't control how other people see you and how happy they are. Lately I like to work out because of health. As I start to get older work accumulates, I have to train my waist. Earlier I injured it while diving, the waist itself is very weak and doesn't have a lot of muscle. T: Because you have a second goal in life? C: Right. Right now I want to slow down everything around me. I realize that I truly have been too busy several years earlier, I lost part of my memory and I actually didn't know where I was. I couldn't enjoy the work process, gradually I lost feeling and life. Everyday I just worked, I couldn't even taste life. Overseas there is a type of living called "slow living", which I want to learn. Instead of being like a zombie everyday, I want to have blood and flesh everyday. I am really fortunate that I have worked hard for over ten years and have some savings, and my career is in a pretty good spot. Thus I get to choose what I want to do. What about you? People say you are afraid of your wife. T: I am not afraid, I am very afraid! This is respect. When you know if you do something you would lose your other half, how would you live with yourself afterward? It's very dreadful, when I think of that I would be very scared. Thus I would cherish and protect her. When I am afraid, I am afraid of losing her. I have to properly love and protect her, this is my goal. C: Your wife Krystal Tin Yui Nei worships you, but you also treat your wife greatly. I have asked Ah Tin, how could you be with such a bad husband for many years? Sh said, "When he treats me well you don't get to see it." How sweet is that! T: If you reveal stuff about me like this, I would feel very embarrassed! My wife and I met in 1999, she met m when she was a teenager. I of course brainwash her since she was little so she would think I am very talented. I made her think that I am amazing, so she would worship me. Choi Cheuk Yin in To Man Jat's heart aside from being a kind -hearted little girl actually was also a "thrifty girl". To Man Jat revealed a side of Ah Sa that few knew about, citing that as a top artist now, when she flew she often would give up first class or business class. She would only sit in her economy class in a low profile. Ah Sa admitted, "Yes, I always book cheap flights and hotels online, some travel packages are just right for me. The prices are cheap, but you have to be fast because many people would fight over cheap flights. Actually when you travel in Southeast Asia, the flight is only several hours. I don't think economy class is a problem. Being happy is the most important when you travel. Often I go with a group of friends, everyone is one of our own." * (2013/08/25) After immigrating to Vancouver for years, the 46 year old retired star Joey Wang Cho Yin recently appeared in Hong Kong and became the media target. She was accused of losing her looks and her past goddess image, as many online lamented how time has not been kind to her. Joey's friend immediately struck back and posted photos of her online in support of Joey and said that a goddess was a goddess. After a few short days in Hong Kong, Joey last night quickly left Hong Kong to avoid further coverage. She was afraid that she would be criticized again for "face change", thus she put on glasses and used her iPad to cover her face as she rushed to Customs. She appeared to be rather nervous; when airport personnel asked to her face to check with her passport, she finally showed her face. However, she still hide the right side of her side and had no expression. She seemed impatient with the press coverage. After the process she quickly left Customs and Hong Kong for Vancouver. * (2013/08/25) Andy Lau Tak Wa yesterday headed to Thailand to pay his respect to the White Dragon King. He arrived at the White Dragon King Temple after noon. When Madame welcomed her, they embraced in consolation. He was dressed in white as he walked barefoot into the hall to present incense sticks to the Master and pray. Andrew Lau Wai Keung was also on hand to accompany the White Dragon King's widow. Wa Jai revealed that the White Dragon King was like a father and a very close person to him. Wa Jai's appearance at the White Dragon Temple drew a lot of attention as many took his photos and posted them online. Wa Jai and the White Dragon King's daughter Pet hug and took photos with Pet and her son, they got along as harmoniously as a family; Wa Jai and Madame and other believers took a photo in front of the White Dragon King's photo. Then he participated in the ceremony and stayed until 2PM before leaving. Wa Jai spoke to TVB Entertainment News Station. He said that he has known the Master for almost 30 years. The White Dragon King was like his father, treated him very well like a very close person to him. When asked about the White Dragon King's advice, he said, "The Master told me to eat slower." Madame heard that and laughed. Due to work at the end of the month he will be unable to attend the Master's funeral. * (2013/08/25) Chapman To Man Jat and Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin yesterday attended the film THE MIDAS TOUCH (CHIU CUP GAING LEI YUN)'s promotion. Ah Jat who started at ATV was frustrated when he spoke about ATV, citing that Wang Zheng and James Shing Bun Yu have accomplished nothing at ATV in recent years. He said, "Wang Zheng's dance at the government headquarter was outrageous." Speaking of the Communication Authority fining ATV HK$1 million and demanding the resignation of James Shing, Ah Jat continued, "I used to tell James Shing to quit, but now I am telling him to keep working and would want the entire city to encourage him to struggle on. Because if he doesn't leave, ATV will have its license suspended." Was it because ATV did not have any production and became a waste? He said, "ATV has many talented and good employees. When I was at ATV few watched but everyone worked hard, unlike now when they had so many extra things to do. They have to go to the government headquarters and to class, thus the fine is deserved. It would be the best for James Shing not to leave." Who would be suitable to replace James Shing? Ah Jat said that he would have to be fair and respect the freedom of the press. Ah Sa said that next year sh will make Ah Jat's social subject category III film, she will have revealing scenes but not nudity. Did she want to change her genre? Ah Sa admitted that in recent years her characters had little potential. She hoped to be able to be elevated level by level and not just do the same thing. Although doing the same thing was safe, life would be meaningless. As an actress she should make more attempts. Did she want to vie for Best Actress? Ah Sa admitted that she did but she did not make movies for awards. * (2013/08/25) Alan Tam Wing Lun two days ago turned 63. He celebrated with a group of friends. His girlfriend Wendy and son Hiu Fung attended, but left when they found out about the media coverage. Alan kept cutting cakes for this year's birthday. Earlier he revealed online that he has already cut over 30; on the actual day aside from a big cake he also had birthday peaches. Guests included Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Hacken Lee Hak Kun, Cally Kwong Mei Wan, Nat Chan Pak Cheung, Wong Hung Sau, Deborah Li and other Wynners members; Chi Wai even thoroughly displayed his usual drunkenness and was carried out. Alan and friends had a lot of fun as they drank until their faces were red and their ears hot. Early in the morning they gradually left, birthday boy Alan went out to see his guests off. His face was red, he was excited as he spoke to the press. He joked that at the party he could not sing too many songs and many guests got drunk and got over the microphone, he often lost his turn to sing. When asked if his girlfriend Wendy and son Hiu Fung came, he graciously said, "Of course they left earlier! Do they have to hurry up and appear in front you? (What gift did your son give you?) I am not telling you." He revealed that his birthday wish for Hong Kong to be harmonious and people to understand and accept each other a little. Did Chi Wai got drunk? Alan joked that Chi Wai has not awaken yet and he had to be carried out again. Around 1:30AM, noises came from the restaurant's back door as the unconscious Chi Wai sat on a chair. Many strong men carried him down the stairs and into a vehicle. After Chi Wai left, Alan and his assistant stepped out. After putting a big pile of gifts into a vehicle, he smiled, waved and left. Later, Alan posted Chi Wai's drunken photo online. He and Hacken messed around behind him and made mischievous poses. He also made fun of Chi Wai, "Every time there is a celebration, Chi Wai would have more fun than the host. This time we can only use Left Lun Right Lee to take care of him!" * (2013/08/24) DaDa Chan Jing on the 8th suddenly expressed online that she would retire from on screen performance, her manager Celia Sie Lim Chi immediately lost contact with her and messed up the set up for the soon to start production film LAN KWAI FONG 3 (HEI OI YEH PO 3). The next time she left a message to explain her emotional disorder but she was found working on additional shoots for Pang Ho Cheung's film. LAN KWAI FONG 3 director Wilson Chin Kwok Wai could not be more enraged and swore to take action; Sie Lim Chi on the 16th issued a final notice to DaDa for her to appear within 3 days, otherwise legal action will be taken. However DaDa who has already flown to Australia to recover was nowhere to be found until yesterday she finally "appeared" online after 13 days. "Things that make you sad, one day, you definitely talk about them with a smile." As for the reshuffled LAN 3 two nights ago it began production for the first time. The ladies pushed up their busts and displayed their career lines. Director Chin Kwok Wai stated that even without DaDa the film would not lose luster. Chan Jing and her manager Sie Lim Chi still have over 5 years in their contract. Although she announced her retirement, she might have to pay over HK$10 million in compensation. However she could not care less, did not appear within Sie Lim Chi's final note 3 day deadline and continued to submerge; the sick days that she asked for earlier with a doctor's note will soon come to an end as well. Yesterday around 11AM, she suddenly appeared again online and posted a photo of sunlight among darkness. "Things that make you sad, one day you definitely will be able to tell them with a smile." She seemingly hinted that a ray of hope could be seen after the difficulty passed. The Chin Kwok Wai directed LAN KWAI FONG 3 earlier due to one of the lead actress DaDa's resignation messed up its planning. After the deck was reshuffled and adding Jeana Ho Pui Yu and Whitney Hui Yik Nei, the film two nights ago began its first day of work. It gathered 14 female characters and two luxury sports cars to shoot in Lan Kwai Fong. The ladies competed in sexiness. "Inch Mouth Barbie" Liu (Ha Wai Yu)'s figure was the bustiest. Jeana also displayed her 34D career line as she defeated Hui Yik Nei and Ava Yu Kiu; "Counterfeit Cecilia Cheung" Karen Lam Chi Ka also pushed up her chest for the spotlight. Many men were drawn to the shoot. Two nights ago the sexy ladies first shot work out scenes in a gym, then they worked on street scenes. Yu Kiu after the shoot came down from the indoor set and removed her jacket for reporters to take pictures of her in a small tank top. Jeana on the other hand was unwilling to remove her jacket on the street. At first a storm affected the shoot, later the weather cooperated and the shoot was completed successfully. They also changed in sexy clothing. "Inch Mouth Barbie" with her strong career line walked on the street without any hesitation. Jeana was rather sexy in a tube top. The more conservative Yu Kiu and not too sexy Hui Yik Nei paled in comparison. Chin Kwok Wai said that the first day of work was decent, only with too many girls make up and hair took time. Did DaDa's incident have any impact? He said, "Everything has already been handled. We don't have t worry about DaDa's side. The film company and Sie Lim Chi will deal with it. (Would the film lose luster with DaDa?) During the first LAN KWAI FONG DaDa was a new comer. You can't say without anyone the film would lose luster. Let's see who stands out this time. Today we have 14 girls performing. (Who do you like?) I don't know yet, I will give them more opportunities to show themselves off." "Inch Mouth Barbie", Connie Man Hoi Ling and Chin Kwok Wai's girlfriend Calinda Chan Yuen Wai spoke to the press. Chan Yuen Wai revealed that "Inch Mouth Barbie" in the film will have a very extreme bed scene. "Inch Mouth Barbie" said, "I ask for a male co-star with six pack abdominal muscles. Chin Kwok Wai arranges for another one for me, one of them participated in the Mr. Hong Kong contest. I don't know how far the film will go. I know that there will be a little action scene." Connie said that her co-star was Black and she asked for him to have eight pack abdominal muscles. Chan Yuen Wai joked, "One is enough for me!" Her boyfriend Chin Kwok Wai met the condition, when she heard that she smiled. * (2013/08/24) The Behind the Camera Award two nights ago took place in Shanghai. Peter Chan Ho Sun was the jury chair and presented the Behind the Camera Special Contribution Award to Yuen Woo Ping. Lord Eight also won Best Action Choreography with THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI). He said that each film had its own difficulty, working with Wong Kar Wai on THE GRANDMASTRS was even harder because he asked for realism when displaying each style of kung fu like Grand Masters in a duel. Lord Eight joked that he truly deserved the award, and felt that more awards should encourage behind the camera heroes. He revealed that he was planning to personally direct two films, CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON 2 (NGOR FU CHONG LUNG 2) and the Tsui Hark produced FEI YEUK SHOOK SAN (LEAPING ZU MOUNTAIN). He said that with CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON, his had to be different with a different production method. Thus its difficulty would be increased. As for the film industry kung fu film actor generation gap issue, he said that talent had to be discovered and faces that viewers liked had to be found. Jackie Chan once was a "box office poison" who no one dared to use, but Lord Eight saw his sense of comedy and made him the lead. Donnie Yen Chi Tan at first was a blank slate, he said his kung fu was decent and thus gave him a push. Aside from vision, it also depended on whether the actors were ambitious. * (2013/08/24) Thailand's White Dragon King Chow Yam Nam passed away last Saturday at the age of 76. Many Hong Kong artists have headed to the White Dragon King Temple to pay their respect. Yesterday was the White Dragon King's First Seven, Leung Chiu Wai, Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai) and his girlfriend Tina went to Thailand to attend the ceremony. They presented incense sticks and prayed, remembering the Master's teachings. Tina and Madame embraced and cried. The White Dragon King doted on Wai Jai. Whenever he saw Wai Jai he treated him like a child, touched his face and his chin. TVB Entertainment News Station last night aired a video of Wai Jai and Siu Chai's visit. When Wai Jai arrived at the White Dragon King Temple, Madame personally welcomed him. Dressed in white Wai Jai after consoling Madame immediately went in to present incense sticks to the Master and prayed. Then the White Dragon King's daughter Pet took him to the viewing. Pet presented Wai Jai with a bead chain as a gift. When Wai Jai left he hug Madame and held Pet' hand. He was reluctant to leave. He said that the Master often reminded him to be filial to his parents and good to his friends. Siu Chai and Tina came together. When Tina saw Madame she immediately gave her a sorrowful embrace and broke down. She could not settle down for a long time. When Siu Chai was interviewed, Tina just kept sobbing. Siu Chai said, "The Master was a very important teacher in my life, he taught to help others and do charity work. Thank you for taking care of me. He is gone and I miss him very much." Siu Chai due to work might not be able to attend the September 1 funeral. Film star Shawn Yue Man Lok yesterday brought his mother to pay their respect to the White Dragon King and console his widow. Mother Yue appeared to be rather heartbroken. Lok Jai said that in 2002 through the Andrew Lau Wai Keung's introduction he met the White Dragon King for the first time and received his advice that he benefited a lot from. "Anyone who have come would experience the Master's heart for teaching people to be kind. Many of his teachings were very memorable for me, including how to treat people and handle things. He would ask me to focus on making movies. It sounded simple but it was very hard to do. Every time I would be calm and never thought to ask for anything. It was like visiting a relative." He said that because of work he might not be able to attend the funeral. * (2013/08/24) After years of retirement, Taiwan female star Joey Wang Cho Yi earlier was caught on camera in Hong Kong. Reporters claimed that she looked swollen as her past goddess image was gone. Many online saw Wang Cho Yin's "recent photo" was heartbroken as they could not bare to see their goddess' "face change". In LAN he and Jeana Ho Pui Yu will have an underwater passionate scene and a kiss scene. He said, "I am very nervous, I hope the director will teach me a few tricks." Would his character affect his yoga coach image and student recruitment? Lam Tak Shun said, "I am not worried, students attend classes only to learn yoga. They don't come to class for me." * (2013/08/23) The Sammy Sum Chun Hin, Hanjin Tan (Chan Woon Yan), Shiga Lin Si Nga and Jacqueline Chong Si Man starred new film THE BEST PLAN IS NO PLAN (KAU NUI BUT LEI SAM HING DAI) was originally scheduled for a middle of the month release next month, but now it has been postponed until October. Aside from young actors, director Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum) invited many veterans like Lo Hoi Pang, Susan Shaw Yam Yam and Tin Kai Man to participate. Lo Hoi Pang said that this collaboration was very pleasant. "At first when I heard about the character I thought it was pretty fun, why not give it a try and mess around with younger kids on the set. During the shoot we were serious, when we played we played hard. Even I felt I got younger and more energetic." Also in the film was villain expert Timothy Cheng Tse Sing, but this time he played a good guy. "This time finally I got to play a good guy. Thank you director for discovering my friendly and easy going side. Honestly sometimes viewers would have that first impression, but instead I could turn it around in the character." * (2013/08/23) 46 year old Joey Wang Cho Yi since immigrating to Canada in 2004 has vanished from the film industry and lived a reclusive life. Despite rumors of offers for her return she remained unmoved. Last night around 6PM Wang Cho Yi who secretly returned to Hong Kong. Although she has not been in Hong Kong for 11 years, she still appeared to be rather familiar with the roads. Finally she finished them and left for Malaysia on holiday. Elanne even took the chance to visit her "hubby" A Niu on the set and secretly arrived at the studio to surprise him. No one expected for A Niu to get his ear pulled as soon as he saw his "old lady". Elanne explained, "He quietly worked on a kiss scene with (Joyce) Cheng Yun Yi behind my back!" No wonder A Niu was willing to accept the punishment! * (2013/08/23) Film industry new comer Angel Chiang Ka Man earlier was interviewed with her co-star Edward Ma Chi Wai and spoke about the production romance. She revealed that because of a "heroic rescue" scene with Edward she "fell" for him. Angel who has played many stars' younger versions also claimed to be a mix of Charmaine Sheh Si Man and Sheren Tang Shui Man, tough enough yet loving to act! Angel revealed that because of Edward's "heroic rescue" she fell for him. "I felt at that moment I fell for Edward's character. In one scene I had to look for him in high heels, but during the shoot I sprained my leg. The director yelled cut and he immediately came over to help me up. He truly was quite a hero!" Edward busted out, "Don't talk about my good points!" They also shared their feelings about the new film's romantic relationship and being forced into prostitution. They both said that they would not mind that their real life companions would not be "first timers". Edward said, "I wouldn't mind if it wasn't her first time, but I would mind my girlfriend turning tricks." Angel also said, "You don't get to mind, the society moral is different now. The most important is the other half is faithful and loyal to you." With ample television series experience, Angel has played "young versions" of Krstyal Tin Yui Nei, Sheh Si man, Tang Shui Man and Helena Law Lan's characters. If she had to choose which female star she would resemble the most, she felt that she was a mix between Sheh Si Man and Tang Shui man. "Actually Man Nui has said that I looked like her. She said that my performance was very similar to hers when she was younger. I feel Man Nui is a good actress, at the same time I am so infatuated with acting. When I was little I already wanted to be an actress when I grew up, so I think the passion for acting is like hers! I also feel I am pretty similar to Ah Sheh's tough personality." * (2013/08/23) Tall model Edward Ma Chi Wai once worked on music videos for Heavenly Queen Joey Yung Cho Yi, Leo Ku Kui Ke and Kary Ng Yu Fei. Most recently he played the male lead in director Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum)'s new film A SECRET BETWEEN US (DAI YUT CHI BUT SI NEI). As soon as he broke in the film industry he had a lead role already, which he said was a dream come true. He also revealed that he and TVB starlet Angel Chiang Ka Man played lovers and had two daring intimate scenes that he admitted being very nervous about. He needed a pep talk from the director. In the film Angel lost her virginity as an escort. Edward said that he definitely would not let his girlfriend fall like that. "I would try my best to help her, even if I would have to sell my kidney I don't want the person I love to be hurt!" Edward looked blue when he had no expression, when he smiled though he was full of sunny silliness. He too admitted that his personality had two extremes. "When I am unhappy I would be very closed off, when I am excited I can get crazy. Many people say I look like (Kelvin) Kwan Chor Yiu, (Sammy) Sum Chun Hin and Ko Chen-Tung. Every one of them are handsome, so I am happy! However I want to have my own uniqueness." * (2013/08/23) Cherry Ngan Cheuk Ling and Babyjohn Choi Hong Yik met each other due to their film. Both new comers deeply understood that dreams had a price to pay. Cherry said, "I didn't like make up or high heels before, now in order to look pretty I would wear them. I had to compromise on everything." With little acting experience, Cherry received praises from many industry insiders. Yet she was not satisfied. "I still feel I lack experience, no matter how you think about it, lacking is lacking!" With more stage experience, Babyjohn admitted that he liked the details of film but will still work hard to find the differences between the performances. "Some things that would not be enough on the stage would be too much in film, is that 'exaggeration'? I am still finding out." * (2013/08/23) Sandra Ng Kwan Yu planned to make the film GOLDEN CHICKEN 3 (GUM GAI 3). She said, "It has been 10 years since the sequel, I had a nostalgia and I really wanted to make it, but this time I wouldn't ask my hubby (Peter) Chan Ho Sun to direct, but the first film's screen writer (Matthew) Chow Hoi Kwong. As for the cast I wanted to use GOLDEN CHICKEN 2's original team. Initially (Ronald) Cheng Chung Kei, (Chapman) To Man Jat, (Jacky) Cheung Hok Yau, (Tony) Leung Ka Fai, (Eric) Tsang Chi Wai were all interested. We will add (Nick) Cheung Ka Fai and rumored couple (Louis) Koo Tin Lok and Michelle Chen. Michelle Chen was the director's personal preference and had nothing to do with Goo Jai. Goo Jai will have two scenes but will not see Michelle Chen." She denied that Goo Jai asked not to work with Michelle Chen on the same scene. Goo Jai would not hinder creativity. Speaking of Julian Cheung Chi Lam's rising popular and money making opportunities, Anita Yuen Wing Yi could retire. Len Len joked, "Seeing Hubby's successful career, I am very happy. It is a giant step toward my retirement young and having money." She admitted that now she worked for interest. She did not need to play young or unpleasant characters. * (2013/08/23) Zhang Ziyi is so busy, in one moment she was promoting THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI) in the U.S. then she returned to the Mainland to attend a film award show. Yesterday she posted a photo of her in Los Angeles, where she ran into a cute puppy and could not help herself but kiss it. She was again in Los Angeles to continue to promote THE GRANDMASTERS. She wrote online yesterday, "I had a romantic encounter on the streets of Los Angeles with a 'hunk', I couldn't help but forced a kiss on him." The cute puppy wore sunglasses made Zhang Ziyi fall in love at first sight and even let her kiss it all she wanted. * (2013/08/23) Metaphysics expert Mak Ling Ling and Michael Wong Man Tak held hands and kissed on the cheek! Of course the story required them to as they worked together on Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum)'s film DELETE (DELETE OI YUN). Although the petite Master Ling Ling wore 5 inch high heels, she still was quite a distance away from Wong Man Tak's height. Their pairing obviously created a height difference sense of comedy. Master Ling Ling rather enjoyed it. After this scene she shared her excitement. Master Ling Ling blurred out that Wong Man Tak held her hand all day, hug her and kissed her face. In the story they were almost mouth to mouth, but Wong Cho Nam ruined it. Master Ling Ling praised Wong Man Tak as very nice and cool. Director Yip Lim Sum arranged for this "employee benefit" that were truly great for her. Master Ling Ling might be in too much of a hurry. Did her husband demand to be present on the set? Would he be jealous? She said, "Of course not!" Master Ling Ling was just fooling around with film production, but she actually wanted to enroll in acting courses. She said, "All my co-stars are good actors, my performance can't be bad!" * (2013/08/23) The 58 year old Liu Xiaoqing and the 71 year old William Wang Xiaoyu held a wedding ceremony in a San Francisco church. It was also the one year anniversary of their marriage registration. Liu Xiaoqing wore an elegant wedding gown and lovingly kissed her husband. Under family and friends' witness they exchanged their vows of love. * (2013/08/23) Jacqueline Chong Si Man two nights ago attended the film HARDCORE COMEDY (CHUNG HAU MEI) premiere. She joked that many people expected her to put her chest on display, so she went with her back instead. Since she only wore nude bra, she had to keep her arms tight to avoid wardrobe malfunction. She said, "If a film requires it, I could bare my back in the performance. When I was a model I have posed that way." Playing a dominatrix in the film, Flora Lee Jing Si had a wardrobe malfunction and easily defeated fellow female stars to become the focus of the entire event. She said that the super sexy costume was not awkward at all. "I am a life model, I am also paid for S & M but absolutely no sex trade." Pseudo model Celia Kwok Wing Yi, Mika Siu, Iris Chung Choi Yi and Mei Mei Tsang Sin Mei represented the retired DaDa Chan in attendance at the promotion. Manager Celia Sie Lim Chi who had to leave early through a messenger said that she still has not been able to contact DaDa. Celia K. said that she talked with DaDa over the phone. "She called me and said that she was sick, told me to put an effort into making LAN KWAI FONG 3 (HEI OI YEH PO 3) great. She only said two things and we didn't have a chance to talk about other things." She said that although she took DaDa's place in business performance events, she felt that she could not be replaced. Reportedly when William Chan Wai Ting was working on a television series in Hengdian, he and visiting girlfriend Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin had a "short visit at a cheap motel". He said, "During the shoot I stayed with the production team, everyone was living there. Whether I was sharing a room with Ah Sa I don't need to explain, as long as everyone understand it is fine." Now his job has been centered in the Mainland, when he had time he would like to see his girlfriend. With so much unwanted attention, did he need Ah Sa to hold on to him tightly? Chan Wai Ting said, "Don't worry, I am fine, all my co-stars are male actors." * (2013/08/23) The Chow Yun Fat and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung worked together on the film FROM VEGAS TO MACAU (DOH SING FUNG WON). Two days ago they worked together for the first time in a scene. Ting Fung's parents Patrick Tse Yin (Sei Gor) and Deborah Li (Lai Goo) nervously visited the set and caught up with Fat Gor. As soon as Fat Gor and Sei Gor saw each other their quips made Ting Fung grin ear to ear. TVB's THE SCOOP last night aired the set visit video. The 77 year old Sei Gor saw the 58 year old Fat Gor and immediately chatted on incessantly. Sei Gor made fun of Fat Gor, "If you ask Lai Goo, she says that you are silly. How can you make movies!" Fat Gor replied, "Your hair is still growing!" Si Gor grabbed Fat Gor's hands and joked, "I am much younger than you!" Lai Goo brought homemade soup to nourish Fat Gor. In recent year Fat Gor rarely had kiss scenes. The most recent time was in the Wong Jing directed THE LAST TYCOON (DAI SEUNG HOI). Yesterday Fat Gor worked on Wong Jing's new film FROM VEGAS TO MACAU and again gave a kiss. Brother Jing even arranged for his "Jing Girl" Tong Fei to receive Fat Gor's "lips". Fat Gor also performed the kiss right in front of Fat Soh! Being able to work with film industry superstar Fat Gor on a kiss scene, Tong Fei of course was nervous. At first she was a little stiff, but the professional Fat Gor with a friendly smile lightly grabbed her by the waist and finally relieved Tong Fei's nervousness with the superstar. She naturally and convincingly accepted Fat Gor's kiss. Many female stars have become big stars after a romantic kiss scene with Fat Gor. Although Tong Fei and Fat Gor this time did not play lovers but father and daughter, Tong Fei was fortunately enough to receive this "lucky kiss" from Fat Gor and conceivably would have good luck! Tong Fei said that working with Fat Gor this time has been very pleasant. "Fat Gor is an especially friendly big brother, Fat Soh took great care of me as well. From him I experienced what superstar presence was while being approachable." Meanwhile Ting Fung could only look on. Another actress Annie Wu (Ng Sun Kwan) appeared in an "outdated" look. Because she in the film played a "sloppy" secretary with a crush on Fat Gor, she needed to wear light make up, red and almost jacket and a pearl necklace. However, Ng Sun Kwan did not mind at all. She even joked, "Being able to work with Fat Gor is a honor. He doesn't act like a superstar at all, friendly and humorous. He made my shoot very joyous." Yesterday Fat Gor's birthday banquet was shot. He even took a microphone and host a lucky drawing. Guests included father and son Hui Siu Hung and To Man Jat, and Tse Ting Fung who wanted to learn from Fat Gor. Fat Gor was a little under the weather so when he spoke his voice was a little hoarse. Ting Fung said, "This Lunar New Year film I can say is the most comfortable production for me in recent years, because every time I made a movie I had to climb up and down and got all dirty. This time the most severe scene was just a fight scene with (Max) Zhang Jun, to me it is a piece of cake." He admitted that he looked forward to make this scene. Playing Fat Gor's disciple in the film, Sammy Sum Chun Hin thanked Wong Jing for offering him this role. Being able to work with a good actor lik Fat Gor benefited him very much! When To Man Jat, Hui Siu Hung and Tse Ting Fung were not in a scene, they often read through the script in hopes of being able to come up with even more plot that was straight to the bone and created new spark. Whn Ah Jat was reading a banquet chat scene, Ting Fung said, "Everyone help yourself!" The mischievous Hui Siu Hung immediately improvised, "How can I help yourself to no food!" Ah Jat immediately busted out laughing, even the exploding with chok Ting Fung could not help but crack up. * (2013/08/22) DaDa Chan Jing dodged making the film LAN KWAI FONG 3 (HEI OI YEH PO 3) and after selectively working on another film vanished, as she faced the management company's pursuit of HK$10 million in damages. DaDa also ignored her manager Celia Sie Lim Chi's final notice last week and did not appear in person on Monday to explain herself. She even "escaped" to Australia. Reportedly, earlier DaDa sent an email to the company. She claimed due to illness she could not communicate over the phone. Her friend Jeana Ho Pui Yu two days ago revealed at the LAN production start ceremony that they talked on the phone. Obviously DaDa was making selective contact! Yesterday Sie Lim Chi met with a lawyer. Because of DaDa skipping out on LAN and new film HARDCORE COMEDY (CHUNG HAU MEI)'s promotion, the film company already stated that they will take legal action. DaDa was also absent from two events. Sie Lim Chi's deadline has already passed. She decided to stop giving her a last chance and will see her in court. * (2013/08/22) "The Strongest in the Universe" Donnie Yen Chi Tan starred and action directed new film SPECIAL ID (DUT SHU SUN FUN) earlier unveiled its stills and production special videos online. In the two minute long video, Chi Tan had many fight scenes with Andy Tien (On Chi Kit), Zhang Hanyu and others as well as many gun fights. The five car collision and other big productions from the film were also on display. Chi Tan not only made the film but also applied hair spray to actors' heads. * (2013/08/22) BabyJohn Choi Hong Yik and Janice Fan Wing Yi in the film THE WAY WE DANCE (KONG MO PAI) received praises for their performance. Chow Yun Fat even complimented BabyJohn to be the next Stephen Chow Sing Chi and saw him as the favorite to win the Hong Kong Film Award for Best New Actor. BabyJohn yesterday said that Sing Yeh is a god class actor and Fat Gor's praise surprised him. He hoped to have a chance to thank Fat Gor in person and learn from him. Although THE WAY WE DANCE has entered its third week of release, he joked that the box office was still less than satisfactory. Some friends still have not gone yet. Instead Janice was pleased with this performance. Recently she had contact with a management company as she wanted to try different things. As for the film's Cherry Ngan Cheuk Ling being accused of arrogance, BabyJohn stressed that the cast and the crew worked together very happily. Janice also said that she never saw her throw a tantrum. * (2013/08/22) The Carina Lau Ka Ling and Chen Kun starred, new director Flora Lau Wan Man's first film BENDS (GOR GAI) was officially announced as a selection for this year's Toronto Film Festival Discovery segment after being invited to participate in the Cannes Film Festival in May. Director Lau Wan Man was very excited about being chosen for an international film festival again. "Being selected to take part in the Toronto Film Festival is invaluable. At the same time it will be BENDS' North American premiere. Because the Toronto Film Festival is a film lover and general public viewer driven film festival, I look forward to interacting with local viewers and sharing their opinions about BENDS." Lau Wan Man said that in mid September she will personally attend the Toronto Film Festival. * (2013/08/22) Although viewers' television viewing formats have gradually changed, TVB's prime time 3 series line up remained most viewers' entertainment at home. Since the new free television station has made no news yet, TVB is almost the only choice. Will everyone have to watch the same group of artists in every series and suffer from "early psychosis"? TVB assistant general manager Au Wai Lam revealed the 2014 production chart, confirming the rid of the paper flying habit but also setting up a new system to avoid actors from continuously repeating, strengthening light comedy and martial art action series, abandoning sequels and heavy series, and the addition of 3 major film Best Actors Anthony Wong Chau Sun, Sammo Hung Kam Bo and Tony Leung Ka Fai to the line up, as well as two classic series DOUBLE FANTASTIES (MO SEUNG PO) and THE MISADVENTURES OF ZOO (LAU MUN WONG DAI), and the hiring of former broadcasting director Franklin Wong Wah Kei to make a BELOW THE LION ROCK style social realism series. Although 2014 is over 4 months away, TVB has already confirmed its new production team direction next year. TVB assistant general manager Au Wai Lam revealed the future direction. He said, "This year our future production direction will be different from before. In the past we came up with the creative and the production team summary then reported them to other related departments, but this year I call all the departments together and listen to each department's opinions about series and programming, discuss and gather opinions from even more areas in order to get closer to viewer taste. Production makers sometimes would have a common illness, easily creating programs according to their own preferences, but sometimes personal preference does not equal viewer preference. The so-called 'critical but not commercial hit' actually is a kinder way of saying it. How can you make a program that no viewer watches?" Au Wai Lam continued, "Thus, series that requires viewers to think deeply with their brains, like BULLET BRAIN (SUN TAM GO LUN BO) and BEAUTY AT WAR (GUM JI YI) this type of so-called heavy series will be out next year, and comedy and martial art action series will be added to the ratio. Next year Wong Chau Sun will make a television series KUNG FU for us. Leung Ka Fai will join us and perform in JI JUNG CHIU JIK. If all the current negotiated actors' scheduling fits, the cast will truly be very strong. In addition Hung Kam Bo will work on a food show for us. He during the Seven Little Fortunes era was responsible for cooking. Jackie Chan's favorite was his curry chicken. Hung Kam Bo will cook on screen for the first time on our program. Wong Chau Sun will also have his food program. Actually when he cooks he is about studying traditional methods. Food programs for viewers will be even fresher subject." With 3 major film Best Actors gathering at TVB, viewers' desire to watch will definitely be excited. At the same time TVB also invited former director of broadcasting Franklin Wong Wah Kei to make a series for TVB. Au Wai Lam revealed, "Mr. Wong Wah Kei was BELOW THE LION ROCK's first generation director. Actually we thought about remaking BELOW THE LION ROCK for its 40th anniversary, but later the talk turned into using current social realism subject to make a series. Everything will revolve about people's lives, like hopes and dreams for children, the wealth gap, housing problems, etc. We are not just reflecting the people's displeasure, but examining it with everyone through a dramatic format the social reality that people can relate to." Because of realism, its cast will not be artists who viewers are used to seeing. They will be outside recruits and new faces. The show will air Sundays during prime time starting in the middle of next year. Speaking of the most basic, the most important is still the script. Au Wai Lam said that overseas a production cannot start without a completed script. Although artists expressed that they did not mind "paper flying", actually working without a completed script would only affect production progress and hinder artists' rest period. Thus starting from early this year, he already gave creative and production departments a year to make changes. Starting next year all scripts must be 80% or over complete before going into production. Au Wai Lam showed a series production progress table, from starting to discuss scripts, what to hand over first drafts, to final script the road map was complete. Another was the artist in studio production schedule, its purpose was to clearly know each artist' schedules to avoid scheduling conflict and the same artist appearing on all 3 series in one night, which gave viewers "early psychosis". Au Wai Lam added, "This was Chair Dr. (Norman) Leung Nai Pang's suggestion. Using this new table, each department confirms execution through looking at the guidance. The paper flying situation will not be permitted again. With a script earlier, we would know when the same set could be used and focus on completion. Unlike now when after a set is demolished we realize that we are still missing one scene and have to rebuild it. In addition artists can have more time to study their characters and rest, as long as work wraps up 3 hours earlier one day, it is good news to the artists and the crew." Au Wai Lam admitted that changing the existing habits all at once would not be easy, but if they did not change they could easily "stall". He described TVB as a luxury bus, everyone had a comfortable ride. For over 40 years it drove safely without much risk, so no one maintained or repaired it. One day if they opened up the hood, they would realize all the problems within. If they did not repair them early, at any minute it could run less smoothly or even stall. "I always share with colleagues the most successful moment of a company or a person is also the easiest to turn around and become a loser, because it cannot see its own flaws and forget to remind itself." "Honestly, TVB's competition is only with itself. With or without a new free television station, now we still have other industry competitors. When our programs aren't doing well then we have to examine them. As long as we have good programming, no new competition will have any effect." * (2013/08/22) Chow Yun Fat and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung starred in the Lunar New Year film FROM VEGAS TO MACAU (DOH SING FUNG WON). When the film earlier held a press conference, Fat Gor said that he and Ting Fung's parents Patrick Tse Yin (Sei Gor) and Deborah Li (Lai Goo) were former co-stars and received a lot of care from them. He joked that this time he would take the opportunity to bully Ting Fung. Perhaps Sei Gor and Lai Goo was truly afraid that Fat Gor would bully their son, yesterday when Fat Gor and Ting Fung ran into each other for the first time at work, Sei Gor and Lai Goo visited the set not only to visit their son but also to catch up with Fat Gor. Fat Gor in the company of Fat Soh arrived, but the crew arranged Fat Gor to enter through the back door to avoid the press. Reportedly, the team stayed in the hotel banquet room the entire day for a banquet scene. Around 4PM Deborah Li and her husband Mustache Kong brought many boxes of mooncakes to the hotel. Was Lai Goo visiting the set? She said, "Mothers mostly do stuff like this. " Earlier Fat Gor joked that back then Lai Goo and Patrick Tse Yin took great care of him when they worked together, but he still would "bully" Ting Fung. Lai Goo joked, "Everyone take care of each other." Later Mustache Kong brought 10 more boxes of mooncake. Sei Gor visited the set later in a new Rolls Royce. Sei Gor and Lai Goo stayed on the set for 3 hours before leaving. Did they guest star? Sei Gor joked, "Yes, yes, yes, I worked all day." Lai Goo giggled. Did they asked their co-star Fat Gor to help with taking care of Ting Fung? Sei Gor said, "Why would he need to take care of Ting Fung, he should be taking care of me!" Korean idol Choi Si Won was staying in the InterContinental. Recently he has been working on his new film EQUATOR (CHET DOH) with Nick Cheung Ka Fai, Jacky Cheung Hok Yau and Shawn Yue Man Lok. Yesterday he ran into Fat Gor and they took photos together. Choi Si Won wore a boot on his right leg probably from an old injury. Choi Si Won and another Korean star Ji Jin-hee appeared last night at the hotel, chatted and even went out for dinner together. Around 7PM they both returned to the hotel. * (2013/08/22) The Nick Cheung Ka Fai starred new film UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN) broke HK$10 million at the box office after five days, defeating THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI), JOURNEY TO THE WEST CONQUERING THE DEMON (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN) and others to be this year's opening box office champion. Cheung Ka Fai and director Dante Lam Chiu Yin, Au Kam Tong, Chan Ka Fai and Vivien Leung Siu Bing two nights ago attended the celebration. Ka Fai said, "YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE became the Hong Kong Chinese film box office champion, which I would treat as my goal!" Ka Fai admitted that before release he had no way of estimating the box office. Later he learned that the two day advanced screenings made over HK$2 million and after the official release it made over HK$2 million daily. He was both excited and nervous, as it was the best box office he had over the years. Some film critics predicted that UNBEATABLE will sweep all award shows like A SIMPLE LIFE (TOH JEH) did. Did Ka Fai feel any pressure? He said, "Awards are hard to predict. Different judging regions have different sights and rules." He said that as long as viewers liked this film he was already satisfied. Speaking of his depression rumor, Ka Fai joked, "I am so happy I don't know what to do, such a good performance! The magazine said that I slept in a separate room, I was very curious and immediately wanted to see if I walked around at home in my underwear and took a shower in the bathroom the magazine would know too. They knew that I was sleeping in a separate bedroom? How did they know? I just read it like a joke, my wife also just laughed it off." As for mood problems, he revealed that Lam Chiu Yin was the working partner who he was the most comfortable with. Although their past collaborations were very dark, they were full of chemistry. When he took his mark he had no pressure. From BEAST STALKER (JING YUN), STOOL PIGEON (SIN YUN) to UNBEATABLE he never felt uncomfortable. He revealed that Lam Chiu Yin once half jokingly said that the film will apply for the Oscar Best Foreign Film nomination. Ka Fai hoped to have another celebration. Will he show off his muscles at another celebration? He said, "Eddie has been keeping up, I haven't. Tell him to streak, I will run along and help with crowd control. At most I would dance with (Michelle) Lo Mik Shuet." Ka Fai revealed that earlier he and his wife Esther Kwan Wing Ho went to see UNBEATABLE in disguises. His wife shed tears earlier than expected. "I also heard a girl saw my big guy appeared and whispered to her boyfriend, 'Ka Fai went mad, outrageous, too powerful!' She also dare not watch my fight scenes. I like watching these audience reactions very much, so in the future I will still secretly go to the movies to watch audience response." He even urged viewers to watch the end of the film before leaving, because after the end credit was photos of characters' lives afterward. However he denied that they set up for a sequel. * (2013/08/22) Mak Ling Ling yesterday worked on a health food commercial. She happily revealed that now she is working on the film DELETE (DELETE OI YUN) and paired with the handsome Michael Wong Man Tak. They often held hands and dated. Unfortunately they had an intimate scene in which Wong Cho Nam pulled them apart, and she was extremely disappointed. She said, "I have never worked with a handsome guy, this is the first time and he is Wong Man Tak on top of that. When friends knew I was working with Wong Man Tak and even playing a newlywed couple, they could not be more envious." * (2013/08/22) Karena Ng Chin Yu two nights ago attended Zucca fall and winter fashion show. Reportedly she tried to force the issue of marriage with boyfriend Raymond Lam Fung, got a masseur for a massage to enrage her boyfriend into tears and hooked up with Pakho Chau behind Lam Fung's back. Ng Chin Yu said that the reports were absurd and untrue. She said that she never went for a massage with Lam Fung and he was never enraged to the point of tears. Ng Chin Yu helplessly said, "None of it is true. Earlier we already issued a join statement and officially responded." Did Lam Fung cry? She said, "No. We never went for a massage together, no one forced marriage, and I am lost about me hooking up with Pakho." Ng Chin Yu said that Lam Fung and Pakho Chau were new comers of the same period. They knew each other long ago and were good friends. She and Pakho were familiar. Earlier After a promotion in Macau together the rumor came. "After the rumor, I spoke with Pakho. We felt it was very strange." She stressed that with Pakho development was impossible. Ng Chin Yu revealed that later she will work on Eric Tsang Chi Wai's new film and be paired with Alex Lam Tak Shun, who was a rumor magnet. She said, "I am immune, if a film still would spread rumors then I can't do anything about that." * (2013/08/22) Liu Xiaoqing two days ago issued a statement to announce that last year she registered marriage and distributed her husband's photo. Reportedly her 4th husband was named Wang Xiaoyu, a business who was rumored to have been a 2010 National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference member; he invested in furniture factory for years, with factories all over the Mainland like Guangdong, Zhejiang and Shanghai. Reportedly they wed on August 20. Yesterday Liu Xiaoqing posted online, "Do what you like to do, love people who you can love. My road because of you is a happy one." [ BLAH OF THE WEEK ] Columns, Reviews, Interviews 1. MING PAO DAILY, AUGUST 25 2013, FILM WORDS THE GREAT PASSAGE IS ROMANTIC As the summer ends, let us take a look back at the summer Hong Kong film market. Hollywood brand names overwhelmingly dominated the box office. Although the family animation MONSTERS UNIVERSITY was only average quality, its made a HK$76 million and topped the character. WORLD WAR Z made over 40 million, other foreign films that made 20 to 30 million were plenty. Hong Kong films were no match. Only THE BLIND DETECTIVE (MAN TAM), SDU: SEX DUTIES UNIT (FEI FU CHOOK JING) and UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN) made over 10 million. Fortunately in recent days UNBEATABLE has been going strong, we shall see if it will head for 20 million. One of Lillian Lee Bik Wa's ghost series TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) made over 8 million and TALES FROM THE DARK 2 only over 3 million. The critically praised youth film THE WAY WE DANCE (KONG MO PAI) made almost 5 million in 2 weeks, which was considered decently. Seeming it will even have momentum. As for the Mainland box office hundred million hits AMERICAN DREAMS IN CHINA, SO YOUNG and TINY TIMES all had no way to become hits in Hong Kong. THE GREAT PASSAGE Has Delicate Drama This week's most "mild mannered" is the Japanese film THE GREAT PASSAGE, based on a novel. This year the Hong Kong International Film Festival used the dictionary name for its Chinese title because the story was about a group of people would spend years editing the dictionary. The dull work of burying your head silence in dictionary writing was able to be written into a best selling novel and even adapted for the silver screen, the feat was truly rare. Director Yuya Ishii achieves delicate drama and even humorous details, romance and touching spirit, in today's world perhaps only Japan is about to accomplish this. Leads Ryuhei Matsuda and Aoi Miyazaki are both post 80 stars, with hunk Joe Odagiri they all perform wonderfully. The most commendable was its respect for words and leaving nothing out from the alternative job of editing. This is a good film that is suitable for readers and even more worth the support of young people. It was popular with film festival viewers. Its alternative release in Hong Kong hopefully will not have too few viewers. Actually its release was already a surprise. (four out of five stars) - SHEK KEI 2. APPLE DAILY, AUGUST 22 2013, BIG PLANNING CHILD ACTING TREASURE Looking back at the Hong Kong film development history, child stars sprung up in different eras. Yet the most memorable were child stars from the 50s and the 60s: Petrina Fung Bo Bo, Michael Lai Siu Tin, Bruce Lee and Tsui Siu Ming and other names looked weak and deserving of pity, but every one of them stood on their own and enjoyed their renown. The Cantonese opera theater was their home, stars their companions. They helped their family while learning about the world. After they grew up they all succeeded. The most important was from them we saw the hardship of the past but still beautiful era and the gradually fading old Hong Kong spirit. - YEUNG KIT MAN A part timer at age 3, a support player at 4, a lead at 5 until 14 she has participated in over 124 Cantonese films. She was the child star of child stars, she was Fung Bo Bo. When you saw Fung Bo Bo's live performance of the first line of her life, you would believe that she already was full of acting genes in her body when she came out of the tomb. Earlier the Hong Kong Film Archives' MERRY GO MOVIES STAR KIDS exhibit opened. Feng Bo Bo recited her first lines at age 7 without skipping a word. She said, "The line was, 'Remember the good of childhood, going to tea with mother, grin clam shells outside the front door, playing in the sand in the alley, riding lions and horses with my legs, bending needles to fish for fishes and shrimps, now that I am grown, needle and thread are as messy as hemp.'" When she read she performed the gestures to go with it. Her voice had a cadence that was incredible. Please remember, Fung Bo Bo at the time was only four. Strong Impersonation Ability that Rivals Myna Sister Bo Bo did not think it was a big deal. All along she felt that she was only a myna that would repeat what others said and excel in impersonating others. "Because at age 2 I could recite the 300 Tang Dynasty Poems, I wasn't raised by Fung Fung! I was in foster care under an old lady. She was a classic and classically dressed person. She recited the 300 poems like singing a song to me. At the time I couldn't read so I didn't understand what they meant. Now I tell people, why would I remember them? Because I was a myna." Sister Bo Bo suddenly talked like a myna, "Gung Hei Fat Choi, Gung Hei Fat Choi! Hello! Hello!" Then she leaned back and laughed. "People always say Gung Hei Fat Choi around the cage, so I say Gung Hei Fat Choi. Was I born with it? I don't know!" Conceivably it was a gift from Heaven! In order to help with hr family, Sister Bo Bo's home was the Cantonese opera theater and companions were production teams. She joked, "I was an extra at age 3 in LITTLE SWEETHEART (SIU YUEN GA), which the Film Archive has. Once I saw their list, that one was Ho Fei Fan's. I just at there and ate. The worst part of filmmaking was no sleep, I almost never went home to sleep. I have gone three days and nights without sleep. I had a cot outside the studio. I also had to shoot in studio A, studio B. I went in and at any moment someone would 'drag' me over. At the time I didn't need to read the script, when I took my mark I became a myna. For example in LITTLE PRIME MINISTER (SIU GUM LAW BAI SEUNG) when I said, 'the prime minister took a detour, please excuse his absence' it was like that! We just kept shooting, after one shot or during lighting I would be nodding off. Sometimes when I got up in the middle of the night I would pop a dried plum, the sourness opened my eyes. Then I took my mark, if in the shot I had to cry I cry!" In the 80s Sister Do Do Carol Cheng Yui Ling was called "Cheng Nine Unit". Actually as early as the 60s, there was already a "Superhuman Bo Bo" Fung Bo Bo. The lack of sleep and pressure for a long time to a not yet developed child would have farther reaching effect, but today when Sister Bo Bo recalled her childhood, she could package them anew and told them in a funny way. "Back then after a production assistant scared m, I wouldn't have a bad take no matter what. He said, 'Girl, be careful! If you mess up you pay for the film!' Wow! When I thought of compensating for film I would get hit! Then no matter what I wouldn't compensate! If I really messed up and couldn't fix it, I would cry for a hour and not stop. They couldn't yell at me because I couldn't stop. Thus I was used to being threatened, you can't scare me! Hahahaha!" Learning To Be Relieved After Three Major Sickness Once blaming her father Fung Fung for treating her like a money tree, today Fung Bo Bo felt relieved. She said, "I think it was the Lord and not me, the Lord put me in my Papa's life because he was in trouble. He had a dozen kids to raise, I was put there to help lighten his load." Fung Bo Bo spoke out unlike usual because last year she was severely ill three times and learned the principles of life. "Originally I wouldn't speak so openly. Because last year I was hospitalized three times, from acid reflux I was mute for a month. When I was released during recovery my stomach was bleeding because the stomach acid damaged the stomach. Then I fainted on the street from inner ear imbalance. I went to the hospital three times just like that. The last tim I went for inner ear imbalance and I didn't know about it! I immediately had a brain scan thinking that I had a tumor, actually it was inner ear imbalance. After those three times, I suddenly realized actually I was still here everyday!" With religion and having learned to be appreciative, Sister Bo Bo had a new experience with everything in life. She said, "This was all in the past! Today I feel very happy because on June 9 I promised my daughter, my husband's daughter, to fly to Kuala Lumpur to share the gospel with 50 some people. Yet over 600 people showed up. The group of seniors' average age was between 65 and 70. I was very touched. IF I didn't make these movies when I was little, how could they remember me now? It's been so many years! Even more touching was a 63 year old woman. She pushed a wheel chair to bring her 92 year old mother there. She said, 'My mama has already lost her memory for several years, but when I told her today I came to listen to Fung Bo Bo share the gospel. She remembered you so she wanted to come and see you! After that time, I felt truly touched by the love that the seniors gave me. They were very happy to see me and treated me like a kid. I felt very warm. Since I started spreading the gospel in March, one thing after another happened and made my life very different. When I remembered the past I thought it was a good thing. When people started to learn gratitude, it was the beginning of happiness. Everyone knew we once in awhile would gain something, but we don't learn to appreciate it. We would be unhappy. Learning to appreciate everything would make you very happy, but that doesn't mean that you wouldn't cry. You would cry after the joy and the sentiment." Exhibit Details: Free Child Star Films MERRY GO MOVIES STAR KIDS exhibit Date: Now to November 3 Location: Hong Kong Film Archive Content: Various child star film video footage and oral history interviews. A small stage with "Yesterday Hong Kong" as its background had many child star cardboard cut outs. The exhibit also had screening programs. From today to September 23, 30 films of 12 child stars would be screened for free. Righteous Siu Ming Was Obedient And Has High Production Rate Tsui Siu Ming's righteous heroic image was memorable, actually this strong righteousness came from his childhood. As a child star at age 5, Brother Siu Ming was a productive child star with over 70 films. He mainly played good characters. He said, "I mostly played nice and poor kids, I actually have been a child star for so long but I have only played a bad child in two or three movies. Maybe it was because I looked nice! Among the kids, there were plenty of choices for bad ones but very few for good ones. So I got the timing just right!" Tsui Siu Ming's first Cantonese film co-star was Fung Bo Bo, the memory of which was still deep now. "Bo Bo at the time was already a very famous actress. There was a film called REVENGE FOR PARENTS (GWAI JAI BO CHUN SAU). At the time I was visiting Sister Nui (Fung Wong Nui) on the set. she was my godmother so I went to visit the set. Sister Nui hoped that I would absorb the atmosphere on the set. At the time Sister Nui not only taught me authentic Cantonese Opera but also let me come in contact with film. Because she gave me the opportunity, I was able to develop in the film industry until today." Mischievous Siu Tin Went All Over The Set "Yeah, a five year old was of course mischievous! I was like that when I was little, with so many people playing there. We urinated all around the set, with (John) Chiang Dai Wai, (Paul) Chun Pui and (Tsui) Siu Ming! We formed a gang and caused trouble all over!" Happy Siu Tin's playful life started as a child star. He said, "I made movies with a playful state of mind. I wasn't in the business. Because my father composed music for the Great Wall Film Company, mother was a New Evening Post editor Ms. Yang, when they made a movie called AREN'T THE KIDS LOVELY (YI NUI GAING) that needed a lot of kids I went and lined up. I wasn't making a living, since they asked I made it! It was a lot of fun! After the shoot the Old Man brought a transistor radio for me, and a bicycle. The reward was great. For one day I made either fifty cents or one buck! Ultimately when I went back to school I had money and could treat classmates to snacks, I could be the boss, I could bring classmates to the movies, it was pretty powerful! Thus I had no interest in making movies, but I absolutely wouldn't resist it either!"
