Director Johnnie To Kei Fung, screen writer Wai Ka Fai, Media Asia boss Peter Lam Kin Ngok attended. Goo Jai and Chin Wa in 2002 worked together on the film DRY WOOD FIERCE FIRE (GONG CHAI LIT FOR) and were linked in rumors. 11 years later they reunited. He felt that Chin Wa was already very different. "She used to be a happy nut, now she is much more stable and has a child." Speaking of Chin Wa already winning Best Actress, was her acting better? Goo Jai said, "Of course!" Chin Wa humbly replied, "No one should start a word trap, actually I never think too much. Many people were against me making LOVE IN A PUFF (JI MING YU CHUN GIU). This is fate." Chin Wa after winning Best Actress did not increase her salary rate and left it to her company to get a reasonable rate. She felt getting opportunities was even more important. "This time I work with To Kei Fung for the first time, I am full of curiosity. I witness that he is a good actor, on the set his acting instruction is great. I would laugh every time I would see it. If by the wrap he hasn't yelled at me, it would be an achievement for me." Chin Wa revealed that Goo Jai in the film was very lucky as he was in a multiple side relationships. Goo Jai said, "In the last movie two guys were after a girl, this time many girls are after one guy. The relationships are complicated and mixed up, Ng Yin Cho (Daniel Wu) will guest star." Would Chin Wa have any passionate scenes? Goo Jai said, "Yes, but when the time for getting close comes, it would always stop due to some reason." He said that the script had no ending yet. The ending was full of variation. He had action scenes like climbing a building to look for something. Gao Yuanyuan was fortunate that she never had nay complicated relationship in real life. She said, "Girls with suitors originally are very lucky, but too many complications would be very painful and unpleasant." On the other hand, Chou Yu Man wanted to get luckier. He joked, "I look forward to more girls coming after me!" In the film he played a romantic guy like his own personality, but the other half felt that he was rather sensible. * (2013/07/31) Mandy Lieu starred in the Chip Tsao (To Kit) directed film OI. CHUM. MAI. (LOVE. SEEK. MYSTERY) and played a political figure's wife who had an affair. The film had many daring love scenes. Mandy had no stage fright though. Yesterday she even worked on her first swimsuit scene. To Kit could not help but praise how "hot" she was. Mandy yesterday wore her own swimsuit for a swimming pool scene. She said, "I have never modeled in a swimsuit show, this time I chose the swimsuit. During the shoot I am not afraid of the team's eyes. It isn't awkward since I started as a model." For the character, Mandy not only displayed all of her femininity but also performed daring love scenes with the lead actor. She challenged her personal bottom line. "I wore sexy underwear and performed a passionate kiss scene for the first time. During the shoot the team automatically cleared the set for me. I wasn't embarrassed and let go in my performance. Unfortunately I was too in character, as soon as I got close I torn my co-star's shirt and ripped off buttons, had several bad takes. Even my co-star thought I was rough." Mandy was pleased with her performance. To Kit also praised her for having acting abilities, looks and figure. To Kit said, "Mandy's performance as an invasive character is great, it is wild enough! Our thinking and our views of the world are the same, we are on the same wavelength and the collaboration has been pleasant." * (2013/07/31) Juno Mak Chun Lung's directing debut RIGOR MORTIS (GEUNG SI) will be released in October. The Toronto Film Festival selected the film for its Midnight Madness as he will compete for the new director award. Mak Chun Lung excitedly said, "I am very happy, each actor's age and experience are higher than min. I only perform because they trust me. I am not making a movie for awards, the nomination is a bonus." * (2013/07/30) Angelina Zhang (Cheung Woon Nga) after making LAN KWAI FONG 2 (HEI OI YEH PO 2) and DUE WEST OUR SEX JOURNEY (YUT LO HEUNG SAI) got into more gossips as she grew more popular. She has been rumored on numerous occasions to be a full body "clone" and have a less than discreet personal life. Earlier after she blasted her former management company for "unfair treatment" and demanded a contract termination, she who insisted on "unlimited sexy but no nudity" finally had her fully nude photos posted online. Yesterday 17 of Angelina's "nude photos" spread like wildfire online. However in the photos her figure and looks were obviously different from now, seemingly they were taken before her "re-evolution". Yet from her tan skin tone and her waist tattoo, she was definitely Angelina. Currently working on her new film HONG KONG UNDERCOVER COP (MANG LUNG DUT GWING) in Shanghai, she was very surprised to hear about the nude photos. "Huh! They are online? I haven't seen them, could you describe them? Are they with just me?" When reporters told her in detail, she said, "OK, they are mine! This series of photos were taken in 2009, at the time I was still a kid, a famous Hong Kong photographer friend took them. I am aboveboard. The photos weren't ugly. Since I did it I am not afraid of admitting it. They are artistic photos." Was she worried about the nude photos making people think about indecent proposals? Angelina almost swore, "I graduated from a certain Shandong university with a degree in English. I was a top student, my English is great. With such a high educational background, why do I have to be a chicken (prostitute)? If I was, I don't have to toil as an artist. My success today is accumulated from my step by step effort. If I was a chicken, why would I have to suffer and come to Hong Kong? Why do I still have to take the MTR?" Why would the nude photos leak out? Angelina said with certainty, "My former manager, only I, my former manager and the photographer had the photos, but I think the photographer probably didn't keep those photos. Before signing with my former manager, I admitted that I had nude photos and even handed them to him for half a year. (Do you have proof?) What proof would I need?" Speaking of her "grudge" with her former management company and its accusation that she has only made around 400,000 for the company, not the million that she claimed and that she violated her contract by privately taking jobs, she angrily explained with profanity, "That xx! I don't know how to describe him in Cantonese! I had proof that I made money for the company, I want to return to Hong Kong and hold a press conference. You ask him if he dares to face me face to face?" After that she got so upset that she broke down. She then said, "I am not crying because of the nude photos, but because I am very insulted. From the start he never helped me, he only helped other female artists." Angelina's former management company yesterday said, "The company's accounting department has the tax forms and information, I have proof. Justice is in the hearts of the people." He also said that he would not face off with Angelina. "She is crazy, I won't be crazy with her." At the same time he denied publishing the nude photos. "Does she have any proof?" * (2013/07/30) Teddy Robin Kwan in the new film TALES FROM THE DARK 2 (KEI WAN YEH) directed and starred in a segment. This time he even performed a super passionate bed scene with "DUE WEST girl" Aliza Mo (Mok Yi Man). In the story he ran into "prostitute" Mok Yi Man, who offered herself to him on the street. While seeking pleasure in a room they got more and more passionate. He actually opened his mouth and bit her chest. She lay in the bed only in her underwear at his mercy. The scene was both bloody and violent! No wonder producer Matthew Tang Hong Keung admitted, "This is the most shocking time in my film career, the visual and the concept are very daring, so you can imagine how great the pressure was on the actors." He also praised both for leaving their baggage to completely let go. They were rather professional. * (2013/07/30) Vicki Zhao Wei earlier in a Mainland interview claimed that the current Mainland market had three major myths: "Money makes master", "Star power comes first" and "flock to plagiarism". Some were so absurd that Zhao Wei did not dare to believe them. Zhao Wei said that during the shoot she encountered investor demands to add some content that catered to the mainstream, but Zhao Wei did not compromise. Producer Stanley Kwan Kam Peng stated that if not for Zhao Wei having her own money, new directors would have already compromised. Also due to star power coming first, the investors once demanded for Zhao Wei to perform. Zhao Wei declined because she was not suitable for the subject. * (2013/07/30) The "Strongest in the Universe" Donnie Yen Chi Tan and Mainland actor Wang Baoqiang in the Emperor new film YUT GOR YUN DIK MO LUM played modern martial art masters. Earlier they appeared in Tai O for a chase scene. Known for his fighting, Yen Chi Tan despite old wounds still put a lot of effort into his fight scene. Wang Baoqiang for his river jumping scene ignored the dirty water and just jumped in. His professionalism should be commended. The Teddy Chan Tak Sum directed Emperor new film YUT GOR YUN DIK MO LUM had Yen Chi Tan as its star and action director. Chi Tan and Mainland actor Wang Baoqiang in the film both played modern martial art experts. They earlier worked on location in Tai O. That day the Yen Chi Tan and Deep Ng Ho Hong who played a cop chased Wang Baoqiang. On the set, before the shoot Chi Tan not only did his warm up exercises but also had a massage on his waist from the crew. Then the fighting scenes officially began. Was he injured? Chi Tan said, "I have some old injuries and some new injuries on my waist, with reporters here of course I have to tough it out! However I performed most of the action scenes myself. One person for two jobs, I am quite a value. Thus how can anyone possibly say that I charged so much!" H admitted that despite his old wounds he still would try to personally perform fight scenes in hopes of making them the most realistic. Also playing a modern martial art expert Wang Baoqiang appeared hobbling with a few scars on his face to add to his weathered impression. As for the scars on his hand, Wang Baoqiang lightly said that they were from the shoot but were no big deal. When he jumped into the sewage water under the Tai O row houses, he had no stage fright at all and gave quite an effort. When he returned to the boat he immediately cleaned his face with clean water. Even when the director asked him to jump again, he still performed as asked and was very professional. How did he feel about jumping into the dirty water, Wang Baoqiang said, "The water is very salty, the flavor is not bad." Yen Chi Tan joked, "I just peed into the stream, all of us did that." Everyone cracked. Wang Baoqiang did not forget to praise Tai O's beautiful scenery. He admitted that for this shoot he will stay in Hong Kong for two months, naturally he missed his family. He said, "I missed my children at home." Why did he not bring his wife to work in Hong Kong with him? He said, "She has been here before, but because the children had school they already went back." Did he exchange any parenthood tips with Yen Chi Tan? Wang Baoqiang said, "Chi Tan is a good father and is very responsible, but I too many a responsible person." * (2013/07/30) The Chow Yun Fat, Nicholas Tse Ting Fung and Chapman To Man Jat starred FROM VEGAS TO MACAU (DOH SING FUNG WON) two days ago held a press conference and began work that night in Cheung Sha Wan in the rain. They began at the food stall. Ah Jat angrily chain smoked like a bong. He even started trouble. When he saw neighbor Zhang Jun passing by, he picked on him and picked a fight. Not expecting a martial art expert, Ah Jat received a slap from Ah Jat and was kicked to the air. Ting Fung immediately blocked a kick for Ah Jat. The trio shot this fight scene over and over. Ting Fung concentrated on the film production as well as Wing Chun. Before taking his mark he and Zhang Jun practiced and got along very well. Reporters asked Ah Jat how many times did Zhang Jun slap him? He joked that earlier when they made THE BOUNTY (YUEN HUNG) he already had a taste of Zhang Jun's kung fu. He played a villain and beat Ah Jat into a pulp. He said that Zhang Jun had techniques for fight scenes and would not injure his co-star, but the result was very realistic. He said that although physical contact was inevitable with action scenes, Zhang Jung had technique and he was used to suffering. He joked, "When Zhang Jun hit me I was very comfortable, it's like a massage. He opened up my Ren and Du Meridians and I became completely awake!" Ah Jat also said that in the film he had the most scenes with Ting Fung, his scenes with Fat Gor would mainly be a major scene and Macau location scenes. * (2013/07/30) The Grand Master of a generation Lau Kar Leung passed away from illness last month. At Master Lau's funeral, Yung Jing Jing "asked for donation" from Sir Run Run Shaw (Siu Yat Fu) when she asked Shaw to give Master Lau his share of the bonus to support the establishment of the Lau Kar Leung charity fund. Yesterday she revealed that they have made contact and Shaw needed to have meetings before making further decision. More details will come on Master Lau's "final seven" (August 10). Reporters called Shaw executive Wong Ka Hei to ask if they were meeting, he said that for now he had no comment. She said, "Thank you everyone for sending Master on his final journey here. Today the weather is great, no rain. You can say it is perfect as Master Lau's cremation process is completed. Thank you Po Lin Monastery and the abbot for the most complete end for a Buddhist. Master Lau was honored and mourned, we will always remember him. Two disciples have opened up halls to instruct kung fu, Mark and Sin Kwok Lam will continue to spread Master Lau's Chinese kung fu and Hong Kong film. I will temporarily serve as the head for awhile, when the time is right they will take over." As for the progress of the Shaw bonus, Yung Jing Jing said, "I have to maintain the Eight Precepts, so the less I talk the better it is. I have spoken with them once over the phone, they said that they had to have meetings to make a decision. Give them a little time! Maybe wait until Master's seven seven forty ninth day, August 10, for more details." Sin Kwok Lam added that the "head" Si Mo referred to meant head of the family. Disciples will always treat Si Mo like the head of the family. Yung Jing Jing revealed that famous metaphysics expert Cai Bo Lai was Master Lau's good friend and calculated that the soonest would be the end of the year before the ashes could be placed in Po Fook Hill. "Master Lau's tombstone was being made. Hopefully it will merge kung fu and film elements. In addition the (Andy) Lau Tak Wa's 'Grand Master of A Generation' calligraphy will be hand carved. However Hong Kong lacked such resources in this area, it might have to been done in the Mainland. The photo will be shadow carved for a 3D effect." After the interview, the monastery opened for media pictures. Master Lau's photo was next to the cremator. On the other side 12 plain lions lined up for cremation. In the pavilion Yung Jing Jing saw the smoke from the cremator and shed tears sentimentally. Sin Kwok Lam invited Yung Jing Jing to lead everyone to lunch. Yung Jing Jing, "I won't go, I don't want to eat, I want to stay here to keep him company!" She could not hold back her tears as she buried her head in her hands and cried. Earlier reportedly she ran into metaphysics expert Mak Ling Ling on a flight. She predicted that if she does not wed this year she will break up. Chin Yu denied that, "I indeed ran into Master Mak Ling Ling on the plane, but we just chatted casually. I never knew anything about fate and didn't deliberately ask her. (Do you plan to wed?) I haven't had such a plan yet. (Have you discussed this with Raymond Lam Fung?) We don't have such a plan, for now career comes first. The Lunar New Year film for the end of the year will soon start production. Work is starting to get busy." Thus when the Polish Hong Kong Consulate General to visit the set, To Kit enthusiastically greeted him and met with him in a nearby hotel. OI is an authentic Hong Kong film about Hong Kong people's concerns, fabrication, desire and suppression about life. To Kit said, "Now Hong Kong people have too much pressure! Without real universal suffrage, mediocre officials are refusing to leave office. Thus I want to make a story about Hong Kong people. As for the film's love scenes they are revealing but not to the bone. This morning Tsui Tin Yau and Sing Long Hei worked on a bed scene, but it wasn't considered too revealing. I hope it would be suitable for female viewers as well. However I have to particularly thank new comer Sing Long Hei, her acting was top notch in the bed scene. Because the bed scene was shot with inhibition, they had a lot of emotional scenes. Luckily she was able to grasp it." Tsui Tin Yau in the film played a Chinese departure lecturer with depression. For this movie he did a lot of research. Tin Yau said, "I feel this character has a lot of room for development, the love scenes ar shot with a lot of inhibition, but I don't have to show too much." To Kit named the 23 year old Sing Long Hei to the lead actress. Would she feel embarrassed with bed scene? She said, "When I got the script, I don't know who the co-star would be. However I am afraid that I wouldn't be tough enough to make a series." He also praised KARMA RIDER (SI FU MING BAK LIU)'s Priscilla Wong Chui Yu for her good performance. As for Ricky Wong Wai Kay's application for a free television broadcast license, Fat Gor said, "Seemingly the government already promised it in the last term, this term the government hasn't issued a license to him? Later he definitely will receive on. More television stations are good for more programs." To Man Jat's salary will be double of when he made Raymond Wong Pak Ming's Lunar New Year film. He joked that aside from "pumping water", he will also study photography with Fat Gor and Wing Chun with Ting Fung. He said, "I hope the film will be finished by October, then I will work on NAKED AMBITION 2 (HO CHING 2). In that film I will work with over 100 adult video actresses. They are used to making category IV films and don't understand why Hong Kong makes a category III one. They even want to invite me to rehearse in Japan and teach positioning. If in the end I really have to do it for real, I wouldn't mind. However I would have to ask the Old Lady first." * (2013/07/29) Chow Yun Fat and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung's parents Patrick Tse Yin and Deborah Li worked together before. The bag actually was my daughter's birthday present. I remembered that she had this bag and immediately called the sister at home to bring it to me." What if Chan Ho Sun asked her to wear the flight attendant uniform at home everyday? Kwan Yu laughed and said, "That would be bad! I originally wanted to play a female Lui Kei, but I couldn't find a shrunken suit; I wanted to put on the ECHOES OF THE RAINBOW (SHUI YUET SUN TAU) costume but it was already gone." Due to scheduling issue he missed the chance to work with John Woo (Ng Yu Sum). "Due to a schedule clash I very regrettably cannot make Ng Yu Sum's THE CROSSING (TAI PING LUN). As for Sister Mui's disciples like Denise Ho Wan Si, the Grasshoppers, Andy Hui Chi On and others wanted to do their part for their mentor. Since they still have time from the actual anniversary of December 30, they now begin to discuss the viability. In one scene he even stared at her while pleasuring himself, but Kelvin complained, "I have never jerked off with so many men watching and even instructing me on how! I am 30 year old, please! I didn't think whether it was embarrassing or not, I just dropped my pants halfway down and went for it. Since I didn't have much of an image anyway, what was I afraid of!" For Kelvin to look at Michelle and not being able to do anything, it was truly painful because Michelle's draw was incredible. She said, "In one scene I played an adult video girl, I haven't watched an adult video and had no sample. I could only rely on the crew's description to perform. They said I was very convincing!" Even Kelvin admitted, "She really was!" Michelle joked, "I don't know if I should be happy or not!" Actually Kelvin also had a "busty" co-stars to perform a passion scene with. He said, "In the scene I was in school, paid a fat male student 20 buck and then squeezed him! Rubbed him! Bounced his chest! I really want to compliment this actor, who was able to perform according to the director's order completely without making any noise. He was very professional!" * (2013/07/26) The Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun) written, directed and starred THE ROOFTOP features the 1/4 Russian new "J Girl" with a resemblance to Angelababy, Li Xinai. Thus she was jokingly nicknamed, "Cinderella of the Crosswalk". Although Li Xinai had no performance experience, with her fresh and cute look she caught Chairman Chou's eyes. Playing a big star in the film, Li Xinai received Chairman Chou's mad pursuit. Chairman Chou brought her to the night market for gold fish and serenaded her on the rooftop to win her heart. Chairman Chou also hung in mid air to give her roses. She gave up her first on screen kiss in her first performance, but to The Drifters' Darren and not Chow Kit Lun. Actually always "keeping his integrity" Chairman Chou gave the opportunity to his good brother Darren. Chairman Chou joked, "This prove that I am very righteous, I didn't benefit myself." He even said that Darren and Li Xinai would perform a rape scene. * (2013/07/26) The relationship between Wong Jing and TVB is growing closer. Wong Jing will not only make a new series for TVB but his film FROM VEGAS TO MACAU (DOH SING FUNG WON, tentative title) that will star Chow Yun Fat and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung will also be TVB invested. Now with Wong Jing and TVB working together on the Lunar New Year film, who knows if they will face each other during the Lunar New year. However, both are recently producing new series for TVB. Comparisons naturally are inevitable. Two nights ago Chi Wai was asked which of the two series was more substantial. Chi Wai said, "In terms of size, he is more substantial than me, but we won't compete with each other." * (2013/07/26) The Simon Yam Tat Wa directed new film TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) was screened at the New York Asian Film Festival and the Busan Film Festival. Some after watching TALES FROM THE DARK praised Brother Wa, "if he doesn't act he truly can switch to directing". Faced with mass anticipation, Brother Wa humbly said, "Rookies like us only hope for more opinions and more encouragement from viewers." During the shoot, Brother Wa was so nervous that he could not sleep. He often thought about camera placements in the garden and shot on location in Tin Lok Lane, where car accidents constantly took place. For work and character, Brother Wa and a child actor spent many days inside a small coffin room. H said that at the time he was exhausted mentally. "I can describe it with the words 'paranoia breeds hidden ghosts'." Actually earlier when Brother Wa attended an event and played golf in the Mainland he ran into something strange in the hotel. He said, "A big group of people in the same environment took pictures from the same angle, only the photo from the photographer's camera had a 'human head'. After seeing it I was restless. After returning to Hong Kong one day I received a call from the hotel, saying that the room is already taken care of and I could go and play anytime. I asked what happened. Actually they hired a master to look into it and learned that a 'girl' was in the living room. In other words she kept me company for a few nights." Brother Wa liked to compare supernatural events with a "coin". "It has two sides, depending on how you see it. When the less things are going people's way the more horror they would think of, the opposite is true as well." * (2013/07/26) Film industry new comer Cherry Ngan Cheuk Ling, director Wong Sau Ping, producer Chan Sum Yiu and one legged dancer Tommy Guns earlier promoted their film THE WAY WE DANCE (KONG MO PAI) at the Taipei Film Festival. "Now I would worry too much about some things. This time acting is like finding the original me, my original dream is to be dancer." The not yet 20 year old Cherry has many interests. On facebook she said that when she took a taxi to the temple she kept crying as she got sentimental about her own life as well as Master Lau's suffering. Yung Jing Jing originally planned to stay in the temple for awhile, but in the last time she rushed home to handle some issues. She said that the plaque that should have been sent to the martial art hall and fabrics and carpets that were meant for the orphanage were all sent back home, thus she could only return home first. During this period she will be undertaking the "Eight Precepts". "The hardest is not being able to yell at people! Thus, I would 'watch my mouth' until it is over." Yung Jing Jing mentioned studying the subject of "yelling at people" while reciting Emperor Liang Jeweled Repentance at the temple. "Denouncing the bad for justice probably doesn't count as a violation?" Yung Jing Jing on facebook revealed that Master Lau's valuable items would be divided between his seven children but would take time to sort out. She praised how well behaved Master Lau's son with his former wife has been. She would love him like her own and treat him fairly. In addition, Yung Jing Jing yesterday revealed that there has been no new development from her "call for donation" to the Lau Kar Leung charity foundation to Shaw at the funeral home. * (2013/07/26) Natalie Meng Yiu two nights ago attended a taping of SUPER TRIO MAXIMUS. When she introduced herself Eric Tsang Chi Wai made fun of her lack of improvement with her Cantonese. "Did you go to study overseas? How come your Chinese didn't improve?" This time her clothing also had many holes and she has already taken measures against wardrobe malfunctions. Meng Yao continued, "I will play (Edwin) Siu Jing Nam's wife in Wong Jing's new TVB series. (Liza) Wang Ming Chuen will play my mother in law. I will work hard on my Cantonese, if that won't work then dubbing will be used." Meng Yao participated in the Chow Yun Fat, Nicholas Tse Ting Fung starred new film FROM VEGAS TO MACAU (DOH SING FUNG WON, tentatively title). Wong Jing's past films would have a lot of passionate bed scenes. The married woman was surprised and covered her chest with her arms. "That's not necessary for television! For film it's OK!" * (2013/07/25) Famous film director Lau Kar Leung has worked with Shaw for years, with many films that were big hits. Actually over the years he has never received any royalty that he deserved. His widow Mary Jean Reimer (Yung Jing Jing) yesterday announced the establishment of the "Director Lau Kar Leung charity foundation" at Master Lau's funeral and publicly urged Sir Run Run Shaw (Siu Yat Fu) to be the first donor, to donate all the royalty that Master Lau should have had and lead everyone to support the charity foundation. Yung Jing Jing during her eulogy announced the establishment of Director Lau Kar Lung charity foundation. She personally donated HK$1 million to the charity to help stunt people and those in need in the film industry. She even made a surprising revelation that Despite years of working with Shaw, Master Lau never received any royalty. Thus she hoped through the charity establishment to urge Siu Yat Fu to donate the royalty that Master Lau deserved over the years and contribute to the industry together. She said, "Master was not someone who liked to keep count. I have known him for 30 years, he has made many films for Shaw, every film had a contract that stipulated international and Hong Kong royalty. Yet over 30 years, Master has never received any. We believe that Mr. Siu Yat Fu is very kind, saving it for us and then investing it. I think this sum now should reach at least 5 million if not 50 million. Thus we hope Mr. Siu Yat Fu would donate this sum to the charity. What does everyone think?" Applause rose from the audience. Yung Jing Jing also mentioned that she needed to muster up a lot of courage to say what she said. She thanked her children for their support, feeling that if she did not say it yesterday she would not have a chance to say it again. She said emotionally, "I hope Mr. Siu Yat Fu can hear those words. You won't lose money. You can repackage Master's movies then sell them again. Thank you everyone!" Guests then applauded and cheered. Yung Jing Jing later at the post funeral banquet expressed that the charity establishment fulfilled Master's wish and took the chance to remove the thorn in the palm of his hand. She pointed out that back then when Master made movies for Shaw, he signed many contracts without dates. He didn't have a lot of legal knowledge and thought that they were all permanent, which made him worry when he was working. However Shaw has never given Master any royalty, only a beautiful future. She said, "This future is wished for but never attained. Master for years has never gone after it, neither was he contacted. Master was more generous, different from me. He left alot inside and wouldn't speak up. If not for the charity this time I wouldn't care." She stressed that she did not blame anyone and believed that as a very large scale company, Shaw overlooking one or two accounts would not be a surprise. Would she take legal action if she would not receive any response? Yung Jing Jing said, "I am not talking about that, in addition how could there be no response. You are so attentive, maybe there will be more responses. I believe they definitely just overlooked and missed it." The film industry was more practical, not everyone was as willing to help friends and disciples as Master was. A timely shower was very important, thus it needed the foundation's help very much. She again stressed that Master was someone who was willing to take a loss and would not hold anyone accountable. He was a great man unlike a little woman like her. She said that this move was very rude. She said, "I won't find a mediator, just treat me like a kid who lacks any understanding of the world. I needed courage to say what I said. In Master's memory he remembered there was a sum that hasn't been calculated, just treat it like helping him pulling out a little hang nail. The foundation now is like a baby. When a person is poor he remembers old debts. We won't talk about the law. Since we were employer and employee, we hope to complete this together." Sin Kwok Lam said that the Master's wife was not collecting a debt. She only helped to help spread Master's love to the world and believed that Mr. and Mrs. Siu Yat Fu would support it. Yung Jing Jing finally said again that she hoped that Siu Yat Fu would take the lead and be the first donor. She stressed that everything that she said and did was to ask for donations for the foundation. Shaw executive Wong Ka Hei only replied, "It's the same old song, no comment! Let she say whatever she wants to say." Nat Chan Pak Cheung was not certain about Master Lau's Shaw royalty issue. It was the first time that he heard about it as well. He said, "This is their private conversation, I can't speak for her. No comment. The most important is for the Master's funeral to be done safely and fully." Perhaps due to this reason, Master Lau's funeral program never mentioned Siu Yat Fu's name. * (2013/07/25) The Sean Lau Ching Wan, Louis Koo Tin Lok and Angelica Lee Sinjie starred in INFERNO 3D (TOH CHOOK SUN TIN 3D). Although Ching Wan and Goo Jai have worked on fire disaster film and television series years ago, they were surprised to learn that their previous experience was sorely lacking. Thus this time before the new film shoot, they did all their homework in order to handle a series of danger filled fire scenes. Goo Jai revealed, in one scene he had to stand on the window ledge outside a building and used a safety rope to bring up Sinjie and Chen Sicheng from the fire in the floor below. He said, "I never imagined that this scene would expend so much energy. I remember that those two scenes had to be shot consecutively. One scene took 10 days, then the other took 5 more days. They truly were exhausting. In the last two days of the shoot, my arms were so tired that they would shake from holding chopsticks. I couldn't even speak." Goo Jai even admitted that this film was the most difficult experience in his career. Ching Wan said that the metal clips hindered his acting and refused to wear a safety rope. He said, "With all the padding below it's very safe, I feel I can muster up some courage and perform." * (2013/07/25) Grand Master of a generation Master Lau Kar Leung's funeral took place yesterday at the Universal Funeral Parlor. Widow Mary Jean Reimer (Yung Jing Jing) lightly touched the body before the coffin closing and sobbed to bid her late husband farewell reluctantly. Chief disciple Adam Cheng Siu Chau along with fellow disciple Sin Kwok Lam, his disciple Rose Chan Ka Wun waved banners to clear the road and accompanied 3 filial lions that bowed to the hearse to send Master Lau on his final journey. Around 9AM, funeral committee chair Nat Chan Pak Cheung, Wong Hung Sau, Karl Maka, Dean Shek Tin, Petrina Fung Bo Bo, Mr. and Mrs. John Chiang Dai Wai, Yasuaki Kurata, Mr. and Mrs. Tong Kai, Andrew Lau Wai Kung, Lau Chin Shek, Joe Cheung Tung Cho, Chan Ka Wun, Mr. and Mrs. Chin Kar Lok, Connie Chan Bo Chu and others arrived to pay their respect. A calm Yung Jing Jing often smiled when she chatted with Ng See Yuen and Melvin Wong Kam Sun; around 9:35AM after Eric Tsang Chi Wai bowed at the altar and presented incense gave his condolences to the family and Yung Jing Jing; after around 10 minutes, Master Lau's chief disciple Cheng Siu Chau arrived. He said, "Last night I didn't sleep well, I was missing Master all night." When the ceremony began, after Yung Jing Jing's speech Master Lau's coffin was moved to the center of the hall. 3 filial lion bowed into the hall, circled the coffin once then again offered the third step kneel nine step kowtow ceremony to the coffin. Then a viewing took place. Yung Jing Jing immediately went up but the hall official urged her to return to the family section and wait. After family and friends went through the viewing, Yung Jing Jing again stood in front of the coffin with her hands together and gave three bows. When she lightly touched the body, sh finally broke down and sobbed. Yung Jing Jing's daughters whose eyes were swollen from crying waited by the coffin and quietly looked at their father for a long time. After the viewing ceremony, guests each held one stick of incense and bowed to Master Lau. The abbot then host the scripture recital, followed by the coffin closing ceremony. Around 12:40PM, when Master Lau's coffin was transported to the hearse, Master Lau's son with his former wife, Lau Wing Keung, carried a spirit tablet to enter the vehicle. Yung Jing Jing and her daughters followed with Master Lau's photo. The three filial lions that sent Master on his final journey bowed in front of the hearse. Then disciples Sin Kwok Lam, Cheng Siu Chau, disciple's disciple Chan Ka Wun led the disciples in a banner waving as the police opened the road for the departure. Master Lau's remains would temporarily stayed in the Tung Wah Coffin Home, until a lucky day will be selected for a Po Lin Monastery cremation. The younger generation recalled a lot of memories about Master Lau. Director Lau Wai Keung could not forget about starting as a chore boy and photographer with Master Lau in 1981. His impression of the Master was a giant and a kung fu master. He said, "He was very amazing, whether as an actor or as a stunt coordinator he was very fast. Normally a shoot would increase the speed by one frame for action scenes, but for Master Lau's martial art scenes it had to be slowed by 26 frames. His action was too fast." Chin Kar Lok said that Master Lau watched him grow up. In his teens he already followed Master Lau as a stuntman and an actor, and he learned alot. He said, "Master was very willing to help others. When he asked me to make DRUNKEN MASTER 2 (JUI KUEN 2), I picked up taking marks, basic foundation, martial art action from him. Thus I have shades of Master on me." Master Lau gave Wong Hung Sau her start. Recalling when she studied martial arts with Master Lau at Shaw, she said, "I fought until I puked, but after he taught me I could make action films. He never yelled at me, but he was very demanding with the moves." * (2013/07/25) Chan Kwok Fun and Cecilia Yip Tung two nights ago celebrated their 25th silver anniversary with friends like Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Chingmy Yau Suk Ching and her husband Shum Ka Wai, Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Lui Fong, Kathy Chow Man Kei, Andrew Lau Wai Keung and other. Most presents were wine so they had their fill. Chan Kwok Fun posted a photo. Cheung Hok Yau yesterday was the first guest on a Phoenix U Radio program. Two nights ago he attended Yip Tung and Chan Kwok Fun's 25th silver wedding anniversary party. When he left he was all red from drinking as he avoided reporters' cameras. He said, "At a party I naturally would drink, but I wasn't drunk. I just didn't want reporters to take pictures. My gift to Yip Tung was also wine. Tsang Chi Wai, Leung Chiu Wai and others were on hand. They drank and chatted, but Chi Wai fell asleep soon after arriving." He said that he and May Law Mei Mei in the past only celebrated their wedding anniversaries with dinner. They had no plan for a big party. Their wedding was not a big deal either. Hok Yau recently grew facial hair for a movie but he still has not decided on whether to take it or not. If confirmed work will begin in September. Speaking of Aaron Kwok Fu Sing wanted to direct and bring the Four Great Heavenly Kings together for a collaboration, Hok Yau said, "I haven't heard, I would check out the script and the character first before deciding whether I would make it." * (2013/07/25) Paul Wong Koon Chung guest starred in the film THE WAY WE DANCE (KONG MO PAI). Huang Xiaoming instead asked if they were making up news, reporters said that they were only confirming the Mainland report. He hesitated then said, "Film promotions have to have certain extends, don't go overboard and don't hurt others. Am I still with Baby? Let's not talk about this." Did the rumor hurt his relationship with Baby? Huang Xiaoming joked, "It hurt my own relationship. Was Baby unhappy? You ask her!" Huang Xiaoming appeared with smoky eye make up as a CHINESE IDOL judge, was made fun of and criticized online. He joked, "It doesn't matter, I never said it looked good. I just wanted to cheer everyone up." He said that he did not ask Baby for makeup technique advice. Karena Ng Chin Yu and her boyfriend Raymond Lam Fung were rumored to be clingy in love. Earlier she was caught visiting her boyfriend on the set in the Mainland, was accused of distracting Lam Fung and led to bad takes. Ng Chin Yu denied the rumor. "There was no such thing, I don't want to talk too much about personal matter." Was she supervising because she was afraid that her boyfriend was tempted in the Mainland? Ng Chin Yu denied that. "Everyone has their own jobs, I only went to support him. I feel I don't need to supervise. I would understand that everyone are working." Would she visit less? Ng Chin Yu said that every time she was caught on camera wherever she went. Actually she did not go too many times. * (2013/07/25) Lillian Lee Bik Wa's novel series has been adapted into TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) and TALES FROM THE DARK 2 (KEI WAN YEH). In the first TALES FROM THE DARK Lo Hoi Pang and Susan Shaw Yam Yam's scene blasted "Z.Y. Leung" and went viral online. The upcoming release TALES FROM THE DARK 2 had an appearance from 'Butchered Room Bo'. Teddy Robin Kwan directed this segment, with Vincent Wan Yeung Ming as the "Uncle Bo" character. With an 1,000 square foot unit including a balcony, I can butcher it into 8 rooms for you! Of course! Profit to the max!" The dialogue would make people smile from the heart. Wan Yeung Ming's image was "Uncle Bo head" with gold wire frame glasses and a suit. It was not hard to be reminded of the negative news tangled Development Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po. The story was adapted on Lee Bik Wa's short novels that were released last year. The original work did not have "Butchered Room Bo", the film added this character in the last minute. Lee Bik Wa admitted that it was a parody but the story also required it, since its climax took place in a butchered (subdivided) room. * (2013/07/25) The film UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN) will be released on August 15 in Hong Kong. Pang Ho Cheung claimed that based on the premise of "nine out of ten men screw around, the remaining one is still thinking about it", the subject of going out and off the rail at night can have endless potential. Like him with the Tonnochy Night Club, the connection never fades. - HO WING NING, CHEUNG CHUN MING Pang Ho Cheung's connection to the Tonnochy Night Club that was originally in Wanchai and closed years ago came from his screen writing class instructor Lam Chiu Wing. "I very much regret getting into the business too late, I have never been there and always wanted to go. From what he said, bosses truly would bring screen writers to night clubs. Then everyone took turns to pitch ideas, the right ones got paid, told you to randomly pick a girl and bring back to write the script. I wanted to get into the business because of that, but as soon as I did Tonnochy closed." His previous film MEN SUDDENLY IN BLACK (DAI JEUNG FU) was already written in memory of Tonnochy. This time after receiving a category III rating, his film SDU SEX DUTIES UNIT is again made to please a group of viewers who want to screw around but do not dare to go like himself. Pang Ho Cheung felt that screwing around was men's true nature and a long existing fact, but he stressed on numerous occasions that he was not encouraging men to screw around. He also did not deny that this fact existed. He said, "I don't have enough guts to speak for all men, everyone may or may not screw around. Some people's personalities aren't suitable for screwing around. When you go as a group in your youth, you not necessarily are after pleasures of the flesh. Instead you are building male friendship, like cheating together, playing sports together and having something in common to talk about. Screwing around is a variation." Screwing Around Is Criminal Nature Claiming to frequent brothels in his youth, half a Wise Guy To Man Jat had an alternative view. "When you are single and go to play at most it's called pleasure seeking, if you are married it's screwing around. It depends on whether you meet the criteria, which is the risk of your marriage. If you are not afraid of the old lady leaving, of course you can screw around. On the other hand if you aren't scared, it might not be as fun. It's not a purely biological need, but a criminal nature that has been around since childhood. It's like when you are little you like to talk back, your parents don't let you do it but you still do it anyway. It contains a type of desire of being prohibited." Ah Jat also defines screwing around. "It's something that you are not permitted to do, perhaps your job or profession don't allow it. If you are a teacher, you are very afraid of running into parents and students. Or ip you are an artist, the single ones would be afraid of being caught on camera. Due to work, you can't do something but you do it anyway. That is screwing around." They agreed that the mentality of screwing around is thrill seeking. Pang Ho Cheung said, "Because you have rules, everyone want to challenge them. On certain level it's like going to a haunted house. When a group of people goes to the night club, they sit down and talk about something else. Even though a group of girls are there, in the end you may leave by yourself. Actually it is a little embellishment." Ah Jat said, "Thus gambling and patronizing prostitutes alone is too sad. They should be fun as a group, a group of people looking for something to play together. Often even when you have a girl around you, you would always stare at your friend's. Men are after things that don't belong to them. After they picked they would always look at another." Ah Jat also joked, "My old lady (Krystal Tin Yui Nui) is always asked if she was afraid of her hubby screwing around. She said no, she had Next (magazine) keeping an eye out. It's true. I get lustful but I am also very scared. If it came out losing the old lady would be very sad! I am not afraid of viewers calling me a jerk, I am always afraid of losing the old lady." Setting Up Eric Tsang Chi Wai As the saying went, "Nine out of ten men screw around, the remaining one is still thinking about it." To Man Jat replied without hesitation. "I belong to the remaining on, but I don't think about it. After thinking I don't have much chance to do anything, why bother thinking! It's just making trouble for yourself." Ah Jat lumped everyone together, "In the 80s and the 90s all the stars screwed around! I meant all the artists of the 80s. I think you have to ask Tsang Chi Wai! He was that era. He made so many LUCKY STAR movies, he definitely have a lot of experience." Pang Ho Cheung joked that he was the tenth one as well. "I always think so it turns into movies, doing it once in the movies I am already happy." The film was about the SDU going to screw around, the Society For Truth and Light morality defender naturally criticized it as a film that told people to screw around. However To Man Jat disagreed, "How can it encourage anything? PRISON ON FIRE was successful too, it still couldn't encourage me to go to prison. This night club industry is declining in Hong Kong. It isn't a sunsetting industry, it's gone, no business. Now there are karaoke boxes, not night clubs. Because no Hong Konger would do it, Mainlanders came down to take over. Without succession, people now aren't willing to be an escort." Pang Ho Cheung said that he would make similar subjects again because it is a story that can never end. "This subject is forever, like police films would always have many states of minds and impulses. Pleasure seeking actually has a lot of mental conflict, one movie is not enough to cover it all. Screwing around is a tool, it can be about friendship, love or family. This time it is about friendship." Pleasant Seekers Runs Into Wanted Fugitive The film SDU: SEX DUTIES UNIT is about the Special Duties Unit B team captain Siu Keung, sniper Ah Fu, Pointman Shrimp and Defenseman Ka Ho are as close as brothers, but Ah Fu actually thought about jumping to the rival A team. In order to strengthen team unity, Siu Keung decides to lead a pleasant seeking trip to Macau and visit a new night club with both a sauna bath house and pole dancing striptease. Yet because law enforcement members have to report their overseas trips, someone daringly suggests to speed boat to sneak into Macau, avoid the normal Customs process and named the operation "dirty war". Originally everything is going smoothly. As everyone gets a girl and about to get down in their rooms, the Policia Judicara comes for a license check and arrests them. After some troubles they manage to escape from the police station and get a speed boat to return to Hong Kong. Just when they think they can make it back in time to return to the SDU, in the same boat is a wanted fugitive. 2. MING PAO DAILY, JULY 28 2013, FILM WORDS SDU: SEX DUTIES UNIT IS CHEERFUL AND HUMOROUS New Hong Kong film includes the Pang Ho Cheung written and produced, Gary Mak Wing Lun directed SDU: SEX DUTIES UNIT (FEI FU CHOOK JING). Chapman To Man Jat, Shawn Yue Man Lok, Matthew Chow Hoi Kwong, Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung starred Hong Kong police Special Duties Unit B Team. After work they seek pleasure and actually sneak into Macau to cook up a "dirty war" operation. They bumble and stumble their way out of trouble and into capturing a big time crook. This category III film sells foul mouth vulgarity, with Macau club prostitute selection show and sex trade guide. Yet it is not as dirty and flesh peddling as 3D SEX AND ZEN (3D YUK PO TUEN) and DUE WEST OUR SEX JOURNEY (YUT LO HEUNG SAI), it is not an outrageous parody like VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KET) either. Mainly it actually is a police comedy. The SDU team actually is more oddball than dirty, more foul mouthed than perverted. In addition it has more gays than prostitutes. In the end they all return to the straight and narrow -- the jerk captain To Man Jat actually cannot forget his former wife, pervert Chow Hoi Kwong actually is a filial son, Yue Man Lok even falls for the girl escort Liu Anqi. The most "revealing" Tsang Kwok Cheung would not be gross either. SDU SEX DUTIES UNIT has many Hong Kong actors' help. Mak Wing Lun's direction is appropriate, remaining cheerful and humorous. The problem is viewers who truly want to watch a sex film or a police film may feel that it is short of both ends. If you are just looking for laughs to cure the doldrums, it is passable. (Two out of five stars) TINY TIMES IS EXCESSIVELY AESTHETIC Mandarin film TINY TIMES is Mainland best selling writer Guo Jingming written and directed. In the Mainland it made almost 500 million yuan RMB. Unfortunately its Hong Kong release catches less attention. In the film Mini Yang Mi, Amber Kuo, Guo Biting, and Xie Yilin played four new era Shanghai university students. They are much more modern and elegant than Vicki Zhao Wei's 80s Beijing university students in SO YOUNG but also much less real. None of the four women hav any class scene as they live in the extreme extravagant "Heaven", develop a few romances, and feeling that guys may be hard to come by but the sisterly love is the most valuable. TINY TIMES is not considered rotten, only excessively "aesthetic", "pretentious" and "materialistically" pleases little women viewers. It is all packaging and no substance. This film becoming a hit shows the enormity of th Mainland women market. Also noted is its lack of Hong Kong star, as Mainland female stars are more and more in demand. As for the actors, Taiwan mixed heritage hunk Rhydian Vaughan (Fung Siu Ngok) as the fashion magazine owner was the most entertaining. His first performance was in WINDS OF SEPTEMBER, in GIRLFRIEND*BOYFRIEND he was particularly spotlight stealing. Fung Siu Ngok resembled soccer star Christian Ronaldo. His acting continued to improve and he had quite a star quality. (Two out of five stars) - SHEK KEI 3. APPLE DAILY, JULY 26, 2013, TALK 24 MENTIONING CO-PRODUCTION LEADS TO FRUSTRATION PANG HO CHEUNG, CHAPMAN TO TEMPT FAT LAI TO INVEST IN HONG KONG FILMS The "VULGARIA DUO" of Pang Ho Cheung and Chapman To Man Jat after years of frustration from co-productions are determined to return home and revive the Hong Kong film spirit! Last year with VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KEI) they chopped a big tree with a dagger, as its 30 million box office way more than covered profit. Its English title VULGARIA even blatantly made fun of how vulgar it was. This summer, the two continue to extend the vulgar spirit with SDU: SEX DUTIES UNIT (FEI FU CHOOK JING)! When Pang Ho Cheung and Ah Jat received the invitations to be TALK 24 gusts, after watching Chrissie Chau Sau Na's episode they stipulated that they had to have an "expedition" to Fat Lai's mansion. Perhaps they thought the gates of mansion still had "flying axes"? Great! Come if you dare! TALK 24 airs every Thursday at 11PM and again on http://bit.ly/appletalk24. Sworn To Pass On Cantonese Ah Jat recalls the appearance of VULGARIA last time started with an online war of words, it all came from frustrations that were "forced out". Pang Ho Chung states that VULGARIA had an even deeper layer of meaning to pass on Cantonese. Ah Jat says, "Last time with VULGARIA he had a war of words with others online. They said that he didn't even know how to speak Putonghua, what qualifies him to argue with us Mainlanders! After the two of us were bullied, we were frustrated. We thought of making a web series that used foul language, that used Cantonese." Pang Ho Cheung says, "At the time the Guangdong province just said that no Cantonese was prohibited on the radio anymore." Ah Jat is enraged. "They even removed that 'F*ck his ma! Tough it out!' plaque." Director Pang warns, "Actually the standard isn't banning you from speaking it now, but to make your communication less perfect so the next generation doesn't want to speak it." Say No To Stephen Chow's Money Offer, Jat Pang Work in Poverty Dirty Foul Mouth Gag Release In August two years ago, Fat Lai had a bet with Giddens Ko. If YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE's box office broke NT$20 million he would give him a full page ad. Later the film broke 100 million at the box office, Fat Lai not only miscalculated but also had to keep his promise of course! Fat Lai mentions this film story, then Ah Jat laments, "This is fate. For example with the two of us, we thought that every movies that we paid for ourselves would be a hit. (Stephen) Chow Sing Chi called and asked, 'Are you making a movie? Do you need money?'" The ambitious Ah Jat replied, "No need!" In his heart he thought, "I would keep all the profits myself." At the time Pang Ho Chung also wanted to say to other investors, "You are chipping in now? Aren't you a little late?" Finally TRIVIAL MATTER (POR SI YI) bombed so badly it made them cry. Later they went to work for someone else and made VULGARIA "the cheapest and the dirtiest" way they could, yet they profit so much it made them laugh. Perhaps such opportunities did not belong to them? No wonder Chua Lam (Choi Lan) said, "The highest risk industries in the world are gold speculation and film." Ah Jat feels that film is a place where private desires can be released. Things that you cannot do normally can be made into reality with film. Getting his second wind, Ah Jat also makes fun of Director Pang. "They say that film is just personally desire release, in other words things that you can normally do." Director Pang's analogy this time is even more to the bone. "No, because you don't have the chance to make it up there. When I make the schedule with you I would come up with some dirty gag, dirty jokes, foul mouth stuff. Since normally you can't release them, then it's like an enema and come out all at once." Actually it is not just to the bone, it is also very gross! Bomb Teaches Director Pang To Stay Grounded Fat Lai Invests In Film? With VULGARIA Hong Kong investors realized that pure Hong Kong film still can make a profit. Fat Lai asks, "Is it easy to find an investor to make movies now?" Pang Ho Cheung states, "Easier than before. VULGARIA proved that if you abandon the Mainland market and concentrate on an individual market, you still can make a profit. Thus this year it's much easier." Fat Lai suddenly says, "Hey, I never invested in film before......" Ah Jat interrupts, "Are you interested?" "Today actually is about this negotiation?" Director Pang pretends to just come to the realization. Does Fat Lai truly want to invest? He says, "I feel investment isn't about the interest to invest, the film profit model isn't just on a film by film basis. With film by film basis, it's worse than gambling. If a company makes 15 movies this year, two are huge hits, three lose a little, the other all bomb, the company actually makes a big profit." Veteran filmmaker Chua Lam disagrees, "If so, everyone knows how it operates and everyone would throw in their money. Your way doesn't necessarily work. Film is fun because of its uncertainty." Fat Lai defenses his opinion. "At the very least, film's possibility for loss is huge but the win ratio is also huge. I feel this way you give yourself a chance." Chua Lam keeps on shaking his head and strongly objects. Director Pang cannot help but chime in, "Mr. Lai, if you say this to me earlier, I wouldn't be so poor. In 2006, I was bold and reckless. I feel no, why not chip in and be the boss once." Ah Jat also cannot help himself. "However he was smart, he dragged me in with him." Fat Lai jokes, "Then everyone dies together!" Everyone laugh, but Ah Jat laughs bitterly. Director Pang continues, "I thought that I knew so many stars, with us at the helm the movie would truly make money. At the time I made TRIVIAL MATTER." Ah Jat says, "Foul mouth rotten tongue, sex, gambling, drugs and ghosts it had everything." Should it not be very successful then? Actually it was not. Director Pang explained the reason. "The problem is we put all of the resources on one movie, we would be crushed to death. Distributors saw that you only had one movie, the owner of one film, so they haggled down your price. If I had many movies, if I had INFERNAL AFFAIRS, would you have the guts to haggle with me? Later I discovered that what you said was right, you really couldn't made just one independently." Actually TRIVIAL MATTER truly was living and breathing trivial matter. VULGARIA Because of Excessive Frustration in the North SDU: SEX DUTIES UNIT FOR CHILDREN? Actually SDU: SEX DUTIES UNIT originally was a category I children film, would you believe it? Pang Ho Cheung said, "Last year after finishing VULGARIA, many film companies asked me to make a movie like VULGARIA. I said I didn't have time, but I then thought, let's not waste it. Every year so many children are on summer vacation, why not make a movie for everyone to have some fun!" Director Pang, you are a liar! Obviously in your column you stated that the story of SDU: SEX DUTIES UNIT came from a certain magazine's incomplete serial novel in 2008. At that time the Special Duties Unit story from the beginning already transitioned into a sex story. Director Pang follows, "Who knew that during the shoot it would change, in the end the kids don't get to see it." Co-production films rule the day, how does Ah Jat feel about this? "Hong Kong people are very poor. Actually Hong Kong people are very smart. They know from just looking at a poster. These movies are made for Mainlanders and they are discouraged. After several years of frustration, filmmakers really wanted to make local films again. The audience is the same way. Come on, you have to rely on the Mainland to make a money, you have to rely on the Mainland for politics, you even have to rely on the Mainland to watch movies?" Fat Lai asks, "What can you do, the market is so big." Pang Ho Chung responds, "Thus either you make it cheaper or faster." Ah Jat adds, "Actually both of us are only in it for profit. Since all the directors went back to the Mainland and everyone is grabbing money, wow, it's all empty. Why don't we make a movie!" Director Pang even gives an exciting analogy. "In other words when everyone is robbing the jewelry store, you suddenly realize that no one is watching the pawn shop. Yes, I know the pawn shop has less money, but it really doesn't have any guard!" In comparison to the hundreds of millions in the Mainland market, the Hong Kong market is so small. Does it have any profit to be made? Ah Jat said, "At least as of today the performance has been great. No one has lost money. Yet on the other hand, among those guys who went up to grab money, everyone dies." Only Making Sex Films, Director Pang's Famine From Starving Too Long Is To Blame Frustration Breeds New Creativity Success often is forced out. Pang Ho Cheung after years of making movies in the Mainland is full of creativity. Taking what others abandon can be a road to success as well. Fat Lai is a businessman, but he always values creativity. "Would you after making so many movies in the Mainland that all your creativity are spent on how to dodge its rules." Director Pang admitted, "Mr. Lai, you don't have to worry. This is definite." Since co-productions strangles creativity like this, would it make Hong Kong filmmakers "return" to Hong Kong? Ah Jat is one of them. "Many creators have to make a living, but after several years of frustration, everyday you think about how to pass inspection and not how to make a good movie, human nature rebounds." What Do Producers do? Chua Lam, Ah Jat Share their Experience Fat Lai Greets With Foul Language To Man Jat's opening dialogues force Fat Lai to let real emotions flow and use foul language to kiss up less! As soon as the cameras roll, To Man Jat says that Chua Lam is his idol producer. "You are so famous, drop the habit of kissing up! You X!" Fat Lai's "intimate greeting" leaves Ah Jat begging for mercy. "I am so famous, only because you show me mercy!" Since the topic is brought out, Fat Lai asks the film industry veteran Chua Lam to share his experience as a film producer. Chua Lam sips his tea and says, "Many people know what directors and actors are, but they don't know the purpose of a producer. Because every movie is very different, it is very blurry and varying." Fat Lai also asked, "Thn would bosses and directors stipulate lead actors? For example she is my girl, how dare you not put her in the lead?" Ah Jat cuts in, "This constantly happens!" Everyone nods in agreement. Ah Jat continues, "Some directors are huge, not just in terms of position, but also personality. Producers in turn are only assistants." Ah Jat's Foul Language Film Review Becomes Classic To Man Jat has been in film and television for 20 years, his representative work actually is a foul language film review that went viral online. Even Fat Lai appreciates it very much! The entire story starts like this......Ah Jat says, "Someone after watching 3D SEX AND ZEN shared his experience online. One day I had a meeting with Chan Ka Hing and (Amy) Chin Siu Wai. We were at the meeting and couldn't come up with anything no matter what. Chan Hing Ka said, 'Hey let's not talk any more, I have something to show you, you just read it'. Then Amy Chin was worse, 'let's not talk any more, since you are reading it we might as well record it'. Then before I read it, I held up the paper like a weather cast and read it as I recited it out loud. If I read it before I wouldn't dare to record it. What was I going to do if I cross (Stephen) Shiu Yeuk Yuen? The more I recited the more I realized I was in trouble, sigh! Who cares, just read it all then record it. Oh you send it to me, they said no need, it is already on YouTube." "Truly Sad" Pang Ho Cheung after hearing that film review also praises, "I was in the Mainland when I listened to this review, I was laughing so hard. The kids who worked at my company didn't know Cantonese. I said, when I learned this review you would speak Cantonese. I told him to listen." Ah Jat jokes, "The funniest is the VULGARIA investor. He says after listening to it he realizes that this was To Man Jat's best performance in 20 years in film and television. I said that's truly sad, after 100 movies, everyone just remembers this part." If one day you are in a foul mood, aside from finding Ah Jat's vulgar foul language film review you can also watch this episode of TALK 24 again for more laughs! - HO WING NING, sidekick [ In Production Now/Soon ] FROM VEGAS TO MACAU Can : Doh Sing Fung Wong Lit : Gambling City Storm d. Subtle yet immensely powerful, the film is triumphed by the wrenching performance of Nai An, the regular producer of filmmaker Lou Ye. Ying Liang’s direction is exceptionally calm and moving, playing as an observer to this ridiculous tragedy that no one will not feel harrowed when walking of the cinema.
