MISCELLANEOUS * (2013/07/17) Best Actor Nick Cheung Ka Fai earlier got into shape for the film UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN). Unfortunately some online questioned the photos having been "worked on". Yesterday the company released a series of "all natural no PS green screen photo" as proof. In it the topless Ka Fai and Eddie Peng Yu-Yen made fighting poses and displayed their abdominal and bicep muscles. Peng Yu-Yen said that on the first day of the training he got sick on the shoot. * (2013/07/17) Yesterday Rose Chan Ka Wun and Ella Koon Yun Na attended a fragrance event. Rose revealed that she was working on her new film I SELL LOVE (FAN MAI OI) and played an escort. She even had her first bed scene. She said, "The performance in it was rather daring and sexy, it would be a Chan Ka Wun that no one has ever seen. Thus I look forward to it very much. I will have bed scenes with many male stars like Liu Kai Chi and Pakho Chau. During the shoot the director cleared the set." * (2013/07/17) This year is the 10th anniversary of Anita Mui Yim Fong's passing. Design master Eddie Lau Pui Kei who has worked with her countless times remembered this song queen of a generation with an exhibit of 70 pieces of his work, including 20 some stage costumes of Mui Yim Fong. The exhibit yesterday held an opening ceremony. Chief Secretary for Administration Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet Ngor, former Director of Broadcasting Cheung Man Yee, Pak Suet Sin, Mandy Mui Suet Sze, Connie Chan Bo Chu, Petrina Fung Bo Bo, Liza Wang Ming Chuen, Jenny Lam Yin Nei, Zhou Xun, Hilary Tsui Ho Ying, Wyman Wong Wai Man, Andy Hui Chi On, Sammi Cheng Sau Man, Denise Ho Wan Si were among the guests. As soon as Lau Pui Kei saw Pak Suet Sin he immediately gave her a kiss. When Lau Pui Kei recalled his past with Mui Yim Fong he broke down twice. He said that he met Mui Yim Fong on July 18 1982 at the New Talent contest. Since then their collaborations shocked the 80s. He tearfully said, "Over the years I only designed Mui Yim Fong's image, I only made stage costumes for others. I only admit to the chameleon Mui Yim Fong!" No Mui Yim Fong memorial concert will take place this year. Lau Pui Kei did not feel any regret as he felt that no one would be able to sing the Mui Yim Fong flavor. He stressed, "She was someone of love and honor, everyone can dislike her but no one can question her character! I never expect her to write such a will, which left me very dejected!" He again broke down. "I don't have any family, I grew up alone. I never expected a will would give me a relative!" At this time, Mui Yim Fong's ROUGE (YIN JI KAU) was played. He and Ho Wan Si both broke down when they heard the song. Lau Pui Kei said, "Many people asked if I was reluctant to leave the performance costumes with the museum? I wasn't. The person who loved me the most have already left me, the museum would maintain them even better than I would." His favorite Mui Yim Fong piece was the bridal gown from the final concert. Lau Pui Kei said, "A multitalented women, why would no one love her? Why did she have to marry the stage?" Ho Wan Si helped as a worker and greeted guests. She said that this exhibit was very meaningful on the 10th anniversary of Mui Yim Fong's passing. She said, "Lau Pui Kei and Sister Mui have battled shoulder to shoulder for years. His work has Sister Mui, Sister Mui's work also has Lau Pui Kei. This is the best way to remember her." Ho Wan Si revealed that she has already seen the exhibit two days ago and thought it was very shocking. She explained, "I have been a crazy Sister Mui fan since I was little, I knew her records, songs and costumes like the back of my hand. Yesterday when I saw the EVIL WOMAN costume that I was only able to see on television screens before, I was very shocked and emotional! When I saw the wedding gown that Sister Mui wore at her final concert, and Lau Pui Kei used the same fabric to make CONTINUATION OF LOVE for me and put it behind it, I already couldn't hold back my tears. (Was Mother Mui invited?) The organizers and Lau Pui Kei organized the guest list, I was just a little assistant. Today has many important guests, everyone should put the focus on them please!" Hui Chi On and Cheng Sau Man were on hand, avoided each other and kept their distance. Hui Chi On stressed, "Today's focus definitely can't be stolen. The focus is on Mui Yim Fong and Lau Pui Kei. They have been my benefactors since I started in the business! Lau Pui Kei took me to shop for me first record cover. 25 years later today it still is a masterpiece of brown double collar suit jacket that is worth HK$16,000. I was reluctant when I borrowed several months of salary from the company to buy it. Mui Yim Fong gave me a lot of opportunities. Back then she often asked the company to release a record for me, which made me into today's Hui Chi On." The exhibit not only displayed Mui Yim Fong's stage costumes but also Lau Pui Kei's designs for Lam Yin Nei, Pak Suet Sin, Michelle Yeoh (Yeung Chi King), Ho Wan Si, Roman Tam (Law Man), William So Wing Hong, and Wang Ming Chuen. Wang Ming Chuen loaned the Lau Pui Kei 1981 design of golden fan shaped evening gown to the exhibit. She said that she was the first generation artist who asked Lau Pui Kei to design concert costumes. The first time she performed at Lee's Theater she asked him to design four costumes. She said, "My early record covers were all his designs. He was forward but not 'outrageous', he was able to bring out the artist's aura." Would she invite Lau Pui Kei to work together again? Wang Ming Chuen joked that he now only works with brand name labels. Perhaps only Ho Wan Si would be able to bring him out of retirement. * (2013/07/17) Andy Lau Tak Wa provided the calligraphy for the Lau Kar Leung funeral program. The cover's "Grand Master of a Generation" came from Wa Jai's hands. On the day of the funeral a lion dance ceremony will take place. Master Lau was a Hung Kuen Grand Master of a generation and had the respect of martial artists. Reportedly, nine major martial art style associations will send lions to participate. With Mary Jane Reimer (Yung Jing Jing)'s three costume "Lau" lions, 12 lions will dance to bid Lau Kar Leung farewell. Yesterday Yung Jing Jing gave a funeral program preview on facebook. Wa Jai's calligraphy received online praises for its presence. Yung Jing Jing pointed out that Lau Tak Wa was one of the few with love and honor in the business, back then Master Lau had the right impression of him. She shared a story that Master Lau told her. Back then when they worked on a film in Hengdian, everyday a huge group of fans waited for autographs and photos outside the hotel. Sometimes they numbered in hundreds; when Master Lau saw a certain "Big Brother" enjoying being surrounded by fan he was overjoyed. When that certain person was in the midst of joy, suddenly someone screamed "Wa Jai!" and hundreds of fans took a sharp right turn toward Wa Jai. The certain "Big Brother" felt very embarrassed from being "abandoned". Lau Tak Wa's charm was undeniable. * (2013/07/17) The film LAN KWAI FONG 3 (HEI OI YEH PO 3) yesterday held a press conference at a night spot. Mia Chen Jing Yi, DaDa Chan Jing, Shiga Lin Si Nga, Jeana Ho Pui Yu, Ava Yu Kiu and other stars of all three films were present. Mia stole the spotlight and said, "Really? I am just coordinating with the occasion. Because it's been awhile that all the girls are together, I feel I have to make myself stand out. Good stuff shouldn't be hidden. It's just a night spot hung out look. Everyone is showing different parts, Lin Si Nga showed her legs. I haven't brought out my secret weapons for awhile!" DaDa pointed out that LAN KWAI FONG 3 will shoot on location in Korea. She will have intimate scenes with a fit Korean actor, which will be a pretty good experience. Will the scenes be very passionate? DaDa said, "The most important for them to be reasonable. There will be a passionate scene in the hot spring, but the standard won't exceed LAN KWAI FONG's. (Are you more cautious after winning the Hong Kong Film Award Best Supporting Actress?) I am not particularly doing this, it would depend on the situation. I want everyone to pay attention to my acting and not focus on nude performance. (Thus this time you are dressed conservatively?) I was a little scared. Earlier I read the audition reports and thought they went overboard. They should fight for the spotlight in the film." * (2013/07/17) Winning the Hong Kong Film Award and Golden Horse Best Supporting Actor with VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KET), Ronald Cheng Chung Kei worked on two days in a row for his new film MANG LUNG DUT GWING. Playing an undercover cop, Cheng Chung Kei three days ago was dressed like a Wise Guy and shot a police arrest scene outside a certain Wanchai restaurant with a short haired Louis Cheung Kai Chung. The next day they shot on location under the Kowloon Bay Bridge. Cheng Chung Kei and Cheung Kai Chung three days ago shot on location at the Wanchai market. Many police officers arrived to arrest them. Cheng Chung Kei looked serious like a mob boss. At first he loudly said, "Why are you arresting me, I won't go back with you." In the end he was still put inside the police vehicle. They got the scene in one take. Cheng Chung Kei and Cheung Kai Chung looked very happy and stepped into the restaurant to continue to shoot other scenes. The next day Cheng Chung Kei continued to work, this time with Ava Yu Kiu on a traffic accident scene under the Kowloon Bay Bridge in the rain. The ambulance arrived and treated Cheng Chung Kei's head injury. Yu Kiu was dirty all over instead of her beauty product model look. The make up artist drew several wounds on Cheng Chung Kei's face. Cheng Chung Kei kept making calling, perhaps to his daughter. Since becoming a father he could not stop talking whenever his daughter was mentioned. * (2013/07/17) Simon Yam Tat Wa two nights ago led Cherry Ngan Cheuk Ling and Susan Shaw Yam Yam to a TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) audience appreciation event. The STOLEN GOOD segment director and star Brother Wa said that the four day accumulation of HK$4 million at the box office was better than expected. He was very pleased and the boss also said that a celebration will be held. Brother Wa said that in the film he had a lot that he wanted to say to his daughter, but his daughter was still too young to watch it. She pouted and said that she wanted to watch it. Thus he hoped to be able to make a family ghost film so she would be able to enjoy it as well. Brother Wa had nothing but praise for new comer Cherry, much more improved than her acting in their previous film NIGHTFALL (DAI JUI BO). She was able to play such a tough character very naturally. He was very happy that Hong Kong had another good actress. Cherry thanked Brother Wa for his instructions and advice, praised him as a good Papa and a nice guy. She hoped to have a chance to work with him again and be the lead actress in his film. * (2013/07/17) The Peter Chan Ho Sun directed, Leon Lai Ming and Maggie Cheung Man Yuk starred film COMRADES ALMOST A LOVE STORY (TIM MUK MUK) 17 years ago was selected for a global premiere at the 70th Venice Film festival's Best Film of Venezia Classics as a confirmation of this film's artistic achievement and Chan Ho Sun's recognition on the international film stage. To bring brilliance back to the classic, the event invited famous Italian film copy restoration company L'Immagine Ritrovata to restore the film. * (2013/07/16) Susan Shaw Yam Yam earlier brought some valuable photos onto a Cable program and even revealed that she almost lost her life while on the set. She said that Lui Kei often asked her to be in his movies. Because his movies were mostly summer releases, the shoots were often in the winter. She even had to wear swimsuit or less in single digit temperature (Celsius) for the shoot. Once she was so cold that her lips turned purple. After that she then shot a bathing scene. As soon as she poured on the hot water she immediately fainted. Sister Yam Yam said, "I almost couldn't be saved! Viewers don't know about harsh times like these." * (2013/07/16) Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin "fell" for Mainland hunk Gao Yunxiang so hard that she ignored her own safety to climb onto a 20 foot platform to personally feed him. However he was not moved as Gao Yunxiang lamented that he was heartless. Ah Sa in her Emperor Motion Picture THE MIDAS TOUCH (CHIU CUP GAING LEI YUN) had her eyes on small time actor Gao Yunxiang. She worked for free to be his manager and used her own money to help his launch into stardom. In the story Gao Yunxiang was left in mid air for work, Ah Sa immediately climbed to the platform to feed him. Somewhat afraid of heights Ah Sa's legs were shaking. Yet as soon as the director gave the order, she immediately performed fearlessly. Looking back at the harsh time of her start, Ah Sa said, "Because we always did cartwheels we often got hurt. Luckily I had Ah Gil (Gillian Chung Yun Tung) to share the load. I also thank Mani (Fok Man Hei)." Gao Yunxiang finally "turned down" Ah Sa and described himself as "heartless". "How can I give up a manager who is pretty and loves me? Such a manager is truly few and far between." Lo Hoi Pang also guest starred and he again impersonated Lydia Shum Din Ta. Ah Sa could not stop laughing. * (2013/07/16) Famous fashion and image designer Lau Pui Kei earlier said in a radio interview recording that starting tomorrow to January 13 his work will be on display at the Heritage Museum. This year happened to be the tenth anniversary of Anita Mui Yim Fong's passing, visitors will have a chance to catch a glimpse of Mui Jeh's classic stage fashion. Mui Jeh's protege Denise Ho Wan Si also attended in support. Lau Pui Kei said, "Over the years I made so many pieces, the most sentimental was Mui Jeh's white wedding gown." Today an opening ceremony will take place. Friends like Eason Chan Yik Shun and Liza Wang Ming Chuen will attend. * (2013/07/16) Lau Kar Leung's funeral services are set to begin on July 23rd at the Universal Funeral Parlor and the funeral will be the 24th. Lau Kar Leung's obituary was published yesterday. Master Lau had 7 children, including his children from a former marriage, Wing Keung, Oi Yi, Li Yi, Yuk Yi and Bo Yi; and his daughters with Mary Jane Reimer (Yung Jing Jing), Man Yi and Hung Yi. Yesterday Yung Jing Jing also announced the pallbearer list, which consisted of Master Lau's friends like John Tsang Chun Wa, Shek Chi Bun, Karl Maka, John Chiang Dai Wai, Yasuaki Kurata, Chi Kuan-Chun, Tong Kai and Nat Chan Pak Cheung. Aside from Financial Secretary Tsang Chun Wa whose connection with Master Lau was due to Hung Kuen, the others were all film industry friends. Shek Chi Bun was Shek Kin's son, he and Master Lau have been friends for several decades. Yesterday Yung Jing Jing continued to perform charity work for Master Lau. She and her daughters volunteered to distribute rice in Tin Shui Wai. In the future she will continue to distribute rice to seniors in other places like Kwai Shing, Tai Po and Tai O. Earlier she also visited Sheung Shui's HOME OF LOVING FAITHFULNESS, which took in handicapped orphans. On the day of Master Lau's funeral, the hall will be decorated like a martial art school and need a lot of fabrics (1,300 yards). She revealed that after the funeral the fabrics will be donated to the home. The obituary also stated that for the environment, donations should be sent in lieu of flowers. * (2013/07/16) Shiga Lin Si nga two nights ago attended an apm event. Speaking of many pseudo models earlier participating in the LAN KWAI FONG 3 audition, as the lead of the first two films Lin Si Nga joked that after two she would bore viewers if she kept going. She also felt that even if she performed again the room for improvement would not be too great. Thus she would not participate in the third film. "In the first film I showed my legs, in the second I was wet and in a bra. In addition I had doubles for the love scenes in both. I might not be able to break through with the third film." Would she accept nude performance? Lin Si Nga said that she has already tried to show her back in her photo book but not necessarily in film. * (2013/07/15) Pang Ho Cheung last summer released VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KET), which was a commercial and critical hit. This summer he followed its momentum and continued to entertain viewers with category III beyond vulgar and cheap flavor. The Pang Ho Cheung produced, Mak Wing Lun directed, Chapman To Man Jat, Shawn Yue Man Lok, Matthew Chow Hoi Kwong and Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung starred category III film SDU: SEX DUTIES UNIT (FEI FU CHOOK JING) will be released on Thursday. Two nights ago an advanced screening was held. The film was filled exciting scenes and sharp dialogues, the top six funniest spots are shared. The story could be said as a mix between MEN SUDDENLY IN BLACK (DAI JEUNG FU), LOVE IN THE BUFF (CHUN GIU YU JI MING) and VULGARIA. In the story a group of Special Duties Unit members went to patronize prostitutes and ran into Policia Judiicaria's license inspection. To avoid their identities being revealed, they began a game of cat and mouse with the Macau police! This time SDU's lines are even sharper than VULGARIA's, with a lot of homophone gags. The most outstanding was the "gay cop" Tsang Kwok Cheung blowing hot and cold with the June Lam Siu Ha (LOVE IN THE BUFF's Brend) played pork chop prostitute. He has inherited his father Eric Tsang Chi Wai's comedic genes. Pang Ho Cheung after LOVE IN THE BUFF's parody of Linda Wong Hing Ping's DON'T AKS WHO I AM this time messed with Joe Cheng King Kei's claim to fame WINE GLASS KNOCKS PIANO. New comer Liu Anqi is refreshing and delightful, who knows if she would receive Pang Ho Cheung's Midas Touch like DaDa Chan Jing did. 1. Derek Tsang As "Gay" Cop Tsang Kwok Cheung is a Special Duties Unit member. On duty he is very strong and brave, but no one would guess that he is gay. In order to hide this "gay" cop secret, he can only go to patronize prostitutes in Macau with his teammates. After going into the room, he only asked the woman to give him a massage. She accidentally applied the aphrodisiac massage oil on his lower body and got him all stiff. His co-workers could only take him to visit gigolos. 2. Pawning A Watch For Duck Shop Visit Tsang Kwok Cheung after the aphrodisiac oil immediately checks out Thai gigolo promotional flyers to put out the fire. To Man Jat and others saw the difficulty he was in and could only pawn his watch to bring hi to a duck shop that was disguised as a Thai restaurant for gigolos! The boss lady gave them a menu, different dishes represented different nation gigolos. They included curry lamb balls and royal curry crab. In the end they randomly picked a Thai roast pork that actually was just right. 3. Obvious Parody of WINE GLASS KNOCKS PIANO The opening scene is a jewelry store robbery. Clerk Cheng King Kei is humming his 80s classic hit WINE GLASS KNOCKS PIANO (JAU BUI HAU GONG KUM). Robber Lam Suet pointed a gun at the clerk and told him to freeze, but Cheng King Kei continued to hum the song. In the end Lam Suet hit him in the head with a glass. After such a long time away from film Cheng King Kei's comedy effect was unexpectedly decent. 4. Jim Chim Plays Papasan To Man Jat leads the sex tour. Playing Papasan, when Jim Chim Shui Man introduced a group of Northern ladies comedy ensued. This group of ladies also played homophone gags. One of them introduced herself in less than fluent Cantonese as coming from "Guangxi". While making many viewers smile from the heart, she also reminded people of Guangxi's T-Rex in VULGARIA. 5. Lok Jai Instead Teaches Escort Yue Man Lok after choosing a girl from Helongjiang added an escort Liu Anqi. After closing the door, the completely inexperienced escort accidentally gave the girl's popping candy and mouth wash to Lok Jai. Lok Jai was so mad that he immediately turned into "Papa" and taught Liu Anqi. "The candy is for your elder! The mouth wash is for her use as well, not for me!" 6. Ran into Crook Boss and Disguised As Gigolos To Man Jat, Yue Man Lok and others set a time to meet to return to Hong Kong on hydrofoil ferry. When they were waiting for the ferry they ran into a wanted crook boss Brother To (Ken Low Wai Kwong). However they were unarmed. To be safe they could only hide their SDU identities and claimed to be teachers who moonlight as gigolos in Macau on holidays. All their boasting led to Brother To to test their English abilities and almost exposed them! Telling You: Foul Mouth SDU is Sharp With Every Word Continuing VULGARIA's vulgar foul mouth specialty, SDU: SEX DUTIES UNTI this time spread the foul mouth further. They are so foul that they have no friend! When To Man Jat talked about his experience with prostitute, he suddenly sounded like a master. "Patronizing prostitute is two words, one in one out, either you are in or you are out." Obviously they are poking fun at Wong Kar Wai's THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI). When Chow Hoi Kwong exposes colleague Tsang Kwok Cheung's homosexual identity said, "Actually when Ah Sir always praised you as perceptive, he meant you are a 'gay cop', not really perceptive!" Later he again made fun of Tsang Kwok Cheung, "We are face to face, you like to ride bareback. Since you can't see each other, naturally you have less conflict!" Chow Hoi Kwong explained the reason behind SDU's desire to lose the bra. "we SDU are in masks all day, at home of course we don't want to be covered up more." Chow Hoi Kwong was conned and complained, "When I find her, I will pop her bust!" To Man Jat replied, "How can someone flat busted have a chest?" Synopsis: SDU Plans "Pervert War" Stationed in the Fanling Police Tactical Unit Headquarter, SDU B team captain Siu Keung, Ah Fu, Dried Shrimp and Ka Ho are upset and jealous that they form an even crazier, code named "Pervert War" secret mission. They hide their real identities and go to Macau underground. Under the leadership of Captain Siu Keung, they between busts and legs begin a shocking "love making war". Originally the plan is going smoothly, because of the Macau Policia Judiciaria's "sex sting" it gradually became absurd. As police officers they suffered the pain of prison, they escaped with their abilities but became wanted fugitives! When they took a chance they shared a ferry with a crook boss. After several battles of wits and courage, they not only understood each other but also became the key to capture a wanted criminal. * (2013/07/15) The Peter Chan Ho Sun directed new film AMERICAN DREAM IN CHINA two days ago held its premiere schedule despite Typhoon Suli. Alice Ko, Bryant Chang Jui-Chia, and Chiu Li-Kwan showed their support. Mark Chao also rushed over to present flowers to Chan Ho Sun and even created a list of authentic Taiwan restaurants, which moved Chan Ho Sun. Mark Chao revealed that earlier he also gave a list to Vicki Zhao Wei, but due to an incorrect address Zhao Wei yelled at him. In addition, the Chan Ho Sun directed COMRADES ALMOST A LOVE STORY (TIM MUK MUK) released a reprinting that will be screened at the Taipei Film Festival and this year's Venice Film Festival * (2013/07/15) After SECRET (BUT NUNG SHUET DIK BEI MUK) Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun)'s second film as a director THE ROOFTOP will on August 1st in Hong Kong. The most attractive scene to viewers was his bath house "rent collection" scene with Alan Ko Yau Lun. Because the bath house owner was a renowned mean guy, they appeared topless to show off their muscles in order to look tougher! Chairman Chou even showed off his eight pack abdominal muscles! For this scene, Chairman Chou accepted a tailored fitness plan of many small meals with low grease, low salt and low sugar beverage. He said, "This is the best shape of my life." Chairman Chou on the set ran into Eric Tsang Chi Wai and immediately put up his shirt to show off. "I wanted to let Brother Chi Wai know that I have put a lot of effort into this film. I hope to be able to do every part to its best." * (2013/07/15) Once linked in rumors with Shawn Yue Man Lok, Mainland actress Liu Anqi two nights ago attended the film SDU: SEX DUTIES UNIT (FEI FU CHOOK JING)'s meeting. Perhaps Lok Jai was still upset at the film company for treating his gossip as promotion, he did not attend. Chapman To Man Jat joked, "Lok Jai has rumored girlfriend Liu Anqi as his representative!" Liu Anqi thought her rumor with Lok Jai as odd and laughed it off. To Man Jat was asked whether he will work with Japanese adult video actresses on NAKED AMBITION 2 (HO CHING 2)? He said, "it's just an initial idea, we don't have any detail yet. Comedy makes fun, not sells figures." Speaking of his wife Krystal Tin Yui Nei posting on facebook that he was forced to exercise more, To Man Jat joked, "I already gave her all my money, if she asks me to jump off a building I would have to!" He hoped that SDU's box office will be as successful as VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KET). To Man Jat pointed at his underwear poster and boasted that he was huge. He even joked, "Don't just look at how short (Derek) Tsang Kwok Cheung's father (Eric) Tsang Chi Wai is, short doesn't mean small. Right now I am in hibernation, when I am awaken I am a giant dragon. Otherwise how would I maintain a marriage for over 10 years?" * (2013/07/14) Taiwan Heavenly King Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun) earlier promoted his new film THE ROOFTOP and accepted a rare overseas interview with the Singapore media. In the interview Chairman Chou joked that he was a "music scene jade man", he did not accept kiss, bed, nude scenes in his film productions. He also added, "I still have a singer image, for over a decade I still had anyone that was very passionate. The scripts would be filtered first." He said that kiss and bed scenes were just gimmicks, leaving some space for the imagination would be even more romantic. * (2013/07/14) Director Wong Kar Wai's Jet Tone earlier issued a statement, claiming that someone launched a site that similar in Chinese and English name to Jet Tone's Block 2 Pictures and distributed false information online like the company's investment on John Woo (Ng Yu Sum)'s film THE CROSSING (TAI PING LUN, tentative title) and inviting actors for auditions. Jet Tone immediately contacted the police after the discovery and clarified that it had no relationship with the site. It also did not invest in THE CROSSING. Reportedly a Korean film company has already fallen for the scam and purchased films through the site. Jet Tone's business and legal manager Ms. Yu said, "Indeed a Korean film company went to buy films and in the end did not receive them. It called here to inquire about them. We gathered the information and would hand it to the police for handling." * (2013/07/14) Mary Jean Reimer (Yung Jing Jing) yesterday in Ling Wan Temple held the "three seven" prayer service for her husband Lau Kar Leung. Over 100 people participated, including former martial art star Chi Kuan Chun. Yung Jing Jing yesterday posted the ceremony photos on facebook, Chi Kuan Chun and his wife were also present. They deliberately made the trip from Taiwan. Chi Kuan Chun and Master Lau worked together on DRUNKEN MONKEY (JUI MA LAU). When Lau Kar Leung passed away on the 25th, Yung Jing Jing suffered quite an emotional setback. Recently she has already calmed down. Earlier she went to distribute rice for charity with her daughter. Yung Jing Jing yesterday posted photos with her friends. Although she looked thinner she appeared to be in good spirit. She even joked that she had a pair of puffer fish like eyes. Yung Jing Jing said that Eric Tsang Chi Wai's wife organized the ceremony, with over 100 Buddhist disciples in participation. She wrote, "Master Lau should 'receive' a lot of merit. My heart is also much more vast." Yung Jing Jing thanked friends from social networks for their support, the friendship of whom she would always remember. * (2013/07/13) Chapman To Man Jat is working out in preparation for his new film NAKED AMBITION 2 (HO CHING 2)'s battles with adult video actresses. His wife Krystal Tin Yui Nei in August is also working out for her new series. This fit couple earlier was found "cheating" with fish balls in Wanchai! Speaking of Ah Jat's NAKED AMBITION 2 battles with AV actresses like Sora Aoi, Maiko Yuuki, "AV Chiling" Yui Hatano and others, Ah Tin instead asked reporters why would everyone overreact like this? She said, "I respect AV actresses very much, they are actresses too; perhaps they are even more professional than some actresses! (You are not jealous that Ah Jat will in 'close' combat with them?) In the past he has been in close combat with other actresses, he has worked with (Chrissie) Chau Sau Na and (Fiona) Sit Hoi Kei before." Ah Tin said that her husband respected her very much before accepting NAKED AMBITION 2 and considered her feelings, but to her as long as he felt the script and the character were suitable he could accept them. If he felt he would not perform well he would not accept it, the most important was he was able to live with him. She will not have any opinion. Will she visit the set? She said that she will not need to, normally she rarely visits the set anyway. * (2013/07/13) "Grand Master of a Generation" Lau Kar Leung's funeral will take place on July 23 at the Universal Funeral Parlor. His widow Mary Jean Reimer (Yung Jing Jing) yesterday posted a comic book drawing of Master Lau on facebook and revealed that it was the work of Master's friend Ah Ching for the memorial program. She said that Ah Ching is a famous Macau illustrator and once drew the cover of her book. Because Ah Ching was familiar with Master Lau's humorous personality, he believed that he would not say "farewell forever" to everyone and thus wrote "Everyone please!" as his farewell. Yung Jing Jing also shared Master Lau's soul returning home to drink cola. Before for awhile before Master's passing he enjoyed cola, at his home altar cola was present everyday. Earlier the maid realized that the cola straw seemed to have been used, even the glass had soda stain. After the maid cleaned it, the next morning the glass again had soda stain. She realized whose "handiwork" it was and said that she could drink however he wanted from then on. Yesterday Yung Jing Jing also brought her daughters to give away rice in the Kwai Fong district as charity for Master Lau. * (2013/07/12) The Taiwan singer Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun) directed THE ROOFTOP two nights ago held its Taipei premiere. Actors Li Xinai, Alan Ko (Or Yau Lun), Kenny Bee (Chung Chun To) and others attended. Chow Kit Lun's buddy JJ Lin also showed his support. Director Kevin CHu Yen Ping praised Chow Kit Lun. "He is very daring, musical and comedy are the hardest to make. yet he challenges them with his second film. I look forward to it very much!" Chairman Chou was greatly touched to see all the support. As for his box office expectation, he hoped that THE ROOFTOP will be able to break NT$100 million! * (2013/07/12) DaDa Chan Jing and Susan Shaw Yam Yam in the new film TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) worked together again. They joked that "villain hitting" had the most screen time in the film. Everyone's arms were tired from all the hitting. Did Chan Jing after winning the Hong Kong Film Award Best Supporting Actress award charge "new film salary"? She said, "I am very pleased with the salary, but I took the role before winning the award. Actually I am the happiest about (Fruit) Chan Gor asking me to perform, I would be fine even if I had no salary. The most important is the chance to work with him." Shaw Yam Yam praised Chan Jing's performance in the film, "She has to express hatred, anger and helplessness through her eyes, her performance was very outstanding." Chan Jing started as a pseudo model, in several years her acting has already been recognized. She said, "I feel very fortunate to walk a road that belongs to me. In film I found my way. I didn't know myself before, now I found the goal for me to continue to work toward. The process is tough, but so is every job. The most important is to face it and to improve." Shaw Yam Yam said, "People have to be upward mobile, you became famous after one or two years. I experienced several decades. All my interviews before were definitely about me being a sex bomb and a erotic star. You are much more fortunate than I am." * (2013/07/12) Taiwan artist Eddie Peng Yu-Yen, A-Wei and Director Dante Lam Chiu Yin yesterday attended the Taipei Film Festival and promoted the new film UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN). Peng Yu-Yen joked that Lam Chiu Yin was the "most demonic" among the directors who he has run into. Everyday he had to work 15 hours and a fight scene lasted 3 hours, he only got breaks for the bathroom! Because he worked on many fight scenes, Peng Yu-Yen was wounded all over. So far every week he needed acupuncture and osteopathic treatments twice. * (2013/07/12) In the Emperor Motion Picture THE MIDAS TOUCH (CHIU CUP GAING LEI YUN), manager Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin had to make the girl group OMG into stars. Its members Angela Hui Ching Wan, Alice Luo Shi, Christie Si Xuan, Una Xie (Tse Kai Woon) and Zhuang Jiemeng are all Emperor new comers. Although they are young, they are all talented in their own way. They even due to this collaboration become good friends and never fought over screen time. After several months together, the ladies built a relationship that was as thick as sisters. The only Hong Konger Angela also said that they were very innocent. "Because my Putonghua was poor, I was very afraid that I couldn't mix in with them. Yet they didn't exclude me, they even taught me Putonghua! The happiest was when we went to shoot in Korea. After the shoot the group went shopping in Dongdaemun, it was very fun!" Although the five film industry new stars are young, they each have their own specialty. Angela and Mengmeng sing well; the girl next door Luo Shi studied dance since childhood and is the dancing queen among them; Shi Xuan is not only tall but her ample busts also grab the most eyeballs; Una who resembles Mini Yang Mi graduated from the Beijing Film Academy, her acting potential should not be overlooked. The ladies worked with Chapman To Man Jat, Choi Cheuk Yin and Wong Chon Nam for the first time and agreed that they took great care of new comers. They also said that Ah Sa indeed was able to capture the soul of manager Mani Fok Man Hei. Una said, "She is a little like her, but Ah Sa's performance is more serious. Mani actually is very nice." Luo Shi in the film had to deliberately create a career line and said a flighty sorry. She said at first she was very nervous, but thanked Ah Jat's instructions from the sidelines. "He taught me in a very funny way, which made me more relaxed. Later I was able to shoot it without any nerves." The only one with an intimate scene, Si Xuan had a kiss scene with Cho Nam. After it she was bruised all over. "We embraced and rolled on the ground while we kissed. After the shoot I was bruised all over!" * (2013/07/12) Shu Qi yesterday attended a illy coffee shop opening ceremony. She said that everyday she would have at least one cup of coffee, which could prevent Alzheimer's and ease edema. "This red dress of mine has a lot of Italian flavor. I was read a book on the street while drinking coffee, then a handsome Italian guy came over with a pick up line!" Would she accept an overseas romance? Shu Qi joked, "If it's a romance it's good, I would completely accept it." She lamented that she has already experienced the most romantic moments during film shoots. In real life pleasant surprises were very hard for her. Thus she tended to lean toward solid and attentive men more than sweet talking people. Shu Qi's JOURNEY TO THE WEST: CONQUERING THE DEMONS (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN) Mainland box office exceeded 1.2 billion yuan RMB, first in the first half of the year box office nationally. She humbly said, "Because (Stephen) Chow Sing Chi hasn't made a movie in a very long time! Wen Zhang and Huang Bo are good actors, Show Luo (Law Chi Cheung) is handsome as well. I was just a small potato standing and walking around. Sing Yeh after finishing the movie didn't look for me again. He should take me to dinner because it's very hard to be able to meet with actors." Shu Qi said that Sing Yeh didn't ask her to make a sequel because her character in the film already died. * (2013/07/12) Wilson Chin Kwok Wai yesterday personally recruited women for his film LAN KWAI FONG 3 (HEI OI YEH PO 3). "DUE WEST Girl" Celia Kwok Wing Yi, Mika Siu, Barbie Ha Wai Yu, Connie Man Hoi Ling and the group AD2 were among over 20 pseudo models who auditioned in sexy swimwear. They used every trick in the book to catch Chin Kwok Wai's attention. Chin Kwok Wai said that the main cast has already been confirmed, but the film needed a lot of actresses. Thus he interviewed for the remaining roles. Speaking of him blasting pseudo model Tsang Po Ling falsely claiming to be the lead actress of the film, Chin Kwok Wai admitted that he was very mad. "Today is just the interview and she already said that she was the lead actress. I worried that someone swindled her. Any impact on the LAN KWAI FONG series would not be good." He also took a jab at Tsang Po Ling. "I also just learned that her stage name was Lin Si Nga (Shiga Lin). I realize that many people are falsely claiming that they are LAN KWAI FONG lead actress online." He revealed that the film will start production in early August and hoped to shoot outside Hong Kong in Shanghai and Korea. He said that DaDa Chan Jing, Gregory Wong Chung Hiu and Jason Chan Pak Yu have already been confirmed. When asked if DaDa after winning a Hong Kong Film Award would no longer have sexy performance, Wilson said, "She will have some physical scenes, but we are not make a category III film. It will be just right." DaDa later said that her character will be a continuation from the first film. "She is already married to Wong Chung Hiu but will have an affair with a male new comer." Speaking of Alvina Kong Yun Yin and her husband's divorce, he said that he has know Kong Yun Yin for years, neither saw any advanced signs nor knew anything. Would he console her? "As a friend, now it's not the suitable time to disturb her. Let he settle down, then we will talk when we see each other." AD2 member Aily during the interview had a wardrobe malfunction and had no idea. She said that maybe she might have move too much and was afraid that her mother would scold her. She admitted that she bought a smaller swimsuit for effect. Another member Amy during her audition kept touching herself and Chin Kwok Wai had to tell her to stop. Inch Mouth Barbie during her audition kept kissing up to Chin Kwok Wai, saying that she admired and appreciated his production style very much. Later she said that she was direct and only spoke from her heart; she also admitted that she "did work" on her top with Nude Bra and tape. Would she accept a nude performance? She said that would depend on the story and character requirements. She would respect her company's decision. Connie who took part in LAN KWAI FONG 2 during her audition was very happy to receive Chin Kwok Wai's praise and her confidence increased. Speaking of pseudo model wardrobe malfunction, she said that she already took all safety precaution but still did not feel safe. "I think she probably wouldn't deliberately have a wardrobe malfunction to get attention. No girl would want to." When asked how they felt about the quality of fellow pseudo models who were present, Celia Ka felt that each had her own advantage while Mika described them as wonderful and exciting. As for other girl's tops, Celia K said that everyone had her own specialty and could not be compared. "I will bring out the good stuff during the shoot. As for nude scene, DUE WEST: OUR SEX JOURNEY (YUT LO HEUNG SAI) already lacked cloth. I hope to be able to bring the audience more pleasant surprises this time too." Mika said that being natural was popular and fortunately her shape was even. * (2013/07/12) Josie Ho Chiu Yi accepted a Satellite Television Movie Channel interview. She said that she has always been increasing her own worth and hoped to learn even more about film so she would be able to communicate with filmmakers. Her past performance experience made her wanted to play characters with more layers even more, for example with more worrying and sentimental. She liked her character in NAKED AMBITION (HO CHING), which was optimistic on the surface but tragic nonetheless. She would never get tired of characters like this. Chiu Yi formed her own film company because she liked Hong Kong film. Now the film market is leaning toward co-production films. She wanted to produce movies for Hong Kong viewers to enjoy, ones that are crazy fun without market factors limiting the subjects. Earlier she reportedly will make NAKED AMBITION 2 but also wanted to make a crazy comedy about badminton. * (2013/07/12) Emperor Entertainment new comer Alice Luo Shi was one of the first group of new comers after Mani Fok Man Hei explored the Mainland market. After a year in the business she has starred in an Andy Lau Tak Wa ad campaign, worked with Nicholas Tse Ting Fung in AS THE LIGHT GOES OUT (DUT JUNG GAU WOON YING HUNG) and with Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin and Chapman To Man Jat in THE MIDAS TOUCH (CHIU CUP GAING LEI YUN). On the 17th at the Book Fair her first personal photo book SHINY21 will be on sale. * (2013/07/11) The Chan Hing Ka directed, Louis Koo Tin Lok, Eason Chan Yik Shun and Josie Ho Chiu Yi starred 2003 category III film NAKED AMBITION (HO CHING) was a critical and commercial hit. 10 years later, Chan Hing Ka decided to make NAKED AMBITION 2. Chiu Yi will invest 15 million but the lead actor will be Chapman To Man Jat. In the story Ah Jat after failing in bushiness went to Japan to be an adult video actor to pay off his debts. In the film Ah Jat will have bed scenes with a group of adult video actresses. Reportedly Maiko Yuuki, Sora Aoi, "AV Chiling" Yui Hatano, "AV Stephy" Akiho Yoshizawa, Saroi Hara and Rio will perform. Chan Hing Ka and Ho Chiu Yi have always supported Hong Kong films with local authenticity and would rather give up the enormous Mainland market. Chiu Yi after reading the NAKED AMBITION 2 script thought it was interesting. Knowing fully that it will be a category III film and unable to be released in the Mainland, she still courageously invested 15 million to make this film. The film will start production in October. Aside from To man Jat and Ho Chiu Yi, many famous adult video actresses have agreed to perform. Chan Hing Ka will head to Japan to meet with them shortly. This time Chan Hin Ka will just produce, the director will be Lee Kung Lok. The film will have a lot of foul language and sex scenes. Actually this film will mainly be a comedy. In the story To Man Jat after his business failed in Hong Kong is forced to go to Japan to be an adult video actor to pay off his debt. By chance he runs into over the hill prostitute Ho Chiu Yi in Hong Kong. Actually Chiu Wai decides to go to Japan to become an adult video actress because she has no job in Hong Kong. With her own experience she teaches Ah Jat the techniques. After learning his fatal blow, Ah Jat actually becomes more and more famous. Chiu YI even becomes his manager. They even develop a relationship with all the time that they have spent together. Because the film has a lot of bed scenes, producer Chan Hing Ka hoped for Ah Jat to make unprecedented nude performance. Ah Jat was still considering it. As a married man he ultimately had to keep his wife Krystal Tin Yui Nei's feeling in mind. Ah Jat said, "At this stage a lot haven't been confirmed yet, let's wait until everything is confirmed before talking again." Despite the lead actress change, Chan Hing Ka still hoped for Koo Tin Lok and Chan Yik Shun to guest star in the sequel. Goo Jai said, "I heard Chan Hing Ka mentioning it a little, but lately I am very busy. I have several movies that I am working on. I really don't have time to talk with them about this movie. I was the producer of the first film. At the time I thought this subject was viable, so I agreed I would produce as well. If they ask me to guest star in the sequel, I wouldn't mind helping out if I have the time." NAKED AMBITION 2 will shoot on location in Japan in October. 80% of the film will be shot there, with the rest in Hong Kong. Aside from Ho Chiu Yi, avid Hong Kong film supporter Sun City Entertainment will also participate in the investment. * (2013/07/11) Donnie Yen Chi Tan is known for risking his life on the set. Earlier when he made the film ICEMAN 3D (3D BING FUNG HUP) he had both extremes with ice and fire. After many fight scenes in the snowy and icy Changbai Mountain in May, earlier he worked on a major scene in Tuen Mun under over 30 degree (Celsius) heat. The action director as well, Chi Tan commanded over 100 actors in many large scale scenes. Chi Tan was used to large scale scenes, so this time was not too difficult to him. However, the sun was blazing during the shoot. Chi Tan was in the sun for several hours and had to move around in wide open space. Finally in the middle of the shoot Chi Tan felt ill and looked pale like he had a heat stroke. He needed to sit quietly and rest. Luckily, after rest and drinking some water to lower his temperature he recovered very quickly. By the end of the shoot, inspiration struck as he shot a group photo with over 100 extras. It was not just for the memory but also considered for the film poster use! Veteran actor Lo Hoi Pang was also on hand. He said that he felt "lucky" about not having a chance to fight Chi Tan in this film and joked that he was worried about getting hurt. He also praised Chi Tan's costume as special, just like THE TERMINATOR. "He looks very much like Arnold Schwarzenegger!" Speaking of his suspected heat stroke, Chi Tan said, "That day was sunny. I sat to the side just to rest a little. Which one of my movie wasn't tough to shoot? I have been in even tougher situation. It's not all that special! However, after a shoot once as soon as I got home I had a fever, had to take medicine and rest. The next day I was able to continue to work. My life is a tough one! (Was this film very tough to make?) No, instead I feel with every shoot I hope to bring something new to the audience. The pressure that I give myself is worse than anything. This film I added some dark humor into the film, hopefully the viewers will feel the freshness." Chi Tan and his wife Cissy Wang will celebrate their 10th anniversary this year. Although Chi Tan in recent years have been making one movie after another, he said that in the end of August he will take a few days off to celebrate with his wife. "At the end of August I will go to the Venice Film Festival. My wife will come along so we can celebrate as well." * (2013/07/11) The Taiwan Heavenly King Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun) directed and starred THE ROOFTOP last night held a Taiwan premiere. Chairman Chou showed off his biceps and neglected lead actress Li Xinai. He said that if the film became a box office hit he would display his eight pack abdominal muscles. As for fans' focus on his under arm hair, he admitted that he would trim for the films. As for girlfriend Hannah Quinlivan's absence, Chairman Chou chauvinistically said, "I would invite any good friend. Only these good friends are suitable to go to the movies themselves, the focus would not be as blurred." Rumored to avoid his girlfriend's jealousy, Chairman Chou gave up inviting "old flame" Jolin Tsai (Choi Yi Lam). He explained that the casting was left to the film company. Earlier at the Golden Melody awards he and Choi Yi Lam did not embrace. He said, "Either one of us won, what is there to embrace!" In addition, over 30 artists like Mark Chao, Ko Chen-Tung and Sonia Sui shot special pose photos in support of Chairman Chou. * (2013/07/11) Louis Koo Tin Lok was scarred all over from the action scenes in INFERNO 3D (TOH CHOOK SUN TIN 3D), but he still insisted on continuing until the finish despite "seeing red". The director praised him for his professionalism! Koo Tin Lok, Sean Lau Ching Wan and Angelica Lee Sinjie worked together on INFERNO 3D. Because they had to handle a lot of action stunts, Goo Jai and Ching Wan swam and ran on their free time during the shoot to stay in shape. Goo Jai even described that as a challenge to push his physical limits. He said, "In the film I truly had many stunts, diving, flying, fire, all were rescue action films. With a little less energy they would be very hard to handle. Luckily during the shoot I didn't have any heat stroke of faint from the heat. Actually we shot inside, the temperature reached 40 degrees (Celsius) like a oven. Ching Wan was even worse, he had to wear a thick firefighter clothing. We both were covered in sweat, it was just like a sauna bath." However Director Oxide Pang Shun praised Goo Jai's courage on and off screen because during the shoot he injured his palm and his old leg wound. In one window busting scene he was even bleeding. He still insisted on toughing out the shoot to the finish, as he did not want to hinder progress. He was very professional. He also revealed that the film's selling point was the first Chinese fire disaster 3D production, he even wanted to bring out a message of sacrificing yourself for others. He believed that after the film release Ching Wan and Goo Jai will be everyone's heroes. Although in the film Ching Wan was not a firefighter, he made some very professional suggestions from the firefighter angle. He obviously was a very sincere actor who did all his homework. He felt that as a part of this film, the on and off screen workers all had a fire that was quite a motivation. * (2013/07/11) Shawn Yue Man Lok earlier blasted online about being swept into rumors of clicking with Mainland star Liu Anqi after a topless scene in their film SDU: SEX DUTIES UNIT (FEI FU CHOOK JING) and exchanging sexts that led to his break up with Kary Ng Yu Fei. Thus he angrily said on Instagram, "Promotions have many ways, yet you have to use this way. Would harming the artist make you a box office hit......?" Some felt that he blamed the film company for leaking information. However, Yue Man Lok yesterday apologized on Weibo and clarified, "About my earlier personal comment, I was only targeting a certain magazine for speculating news. I wasn't upset at the promotional company or the film company, I hope the outside wouldn't misunderstand; I also would like to apologize for the troubles that this misunderstanding caused, I don't want to affect everyone's hard work." As the incident suddenly turned into a "misunderstanding", did Yue Man Lok experienced pressure from his film company and management company Media Asia? Or did he immediately shared online before getting an understanding of the matter, the company faulted him and he immediately made a sharp U-turn? * (2013/07/11) The writer Lillian Lee Bik Wa novel series NIGHT has been adapted into films, TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) and TALES FROM THE DARK 2 (KEI WAN YEH). Chen Wai Lam performed in one of the TALES FROM THE DARK stories. She and Leung Ka Fai worked together like conjoint twins to fight off ghosts. Although it was a ghost film, they looked rather funny. Leung Ka Fai played a fengshui master. Kelly played a crystal psychic. They both were shaky as ghost hunters. Actually Best Actor Leung Ka Fai has never made a ghost film. Because he worked with director Lee Chi Ngai on TOM DICK AND HAIRY (FUNG CHUN SAM HUP) and he liked the character, he agreed to perform right away. * (2013/07/11) Simon Yam Tat Wa and his wife Qi Qi two nights ago attended a shoe store opening. Promoting his new film TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) Yam Tat Wa joked that he wanted his wife to play a hot ghost. Claiming to be a ghost on stilts, Qi Qi revealed that her husband brought props from the set home and almost scared her half to death. "After Hubby finished the film, he took two ghost doll props home and said that he wanted to give them to our daughter. Finally at breakfast I could the ghost doll on the table and I was scared to death. Hubby had good intention. This gift was too scary, I refuse to accept it!" Qi Qi finally asked the maid to hide the ghost doll in a secret place. Yam Tat Wa joked that the home had plenty of sunlight so it had no taboo. * (2013/07/10) The 20th will be the 40th anniversary of the superstar of a generation Bruce Lee's passing. Memorial events will be held globally. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department on that day will hold a large scale Bruce Lee exhibit. However, on the eve of the event Bruce Lee's brother Robert Lee Chun Fai earlier claimed LCSD at first met with him and his sister Phoebe Lee Chau Yuen about the exhibit. They provided a lot of opinions and information. Then LCSD has not made any further contact but used the information that they provided about Siu Lung's childhood home, which enraged Lee Chun Fai. "They talked with me, then suddenly dropped us. I thought it was completely disrespectful." The 5 year run of BRUCE LEE: KUNG FU, ART, LIFE exhibition will begin on the 20th at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum on the 40th anniversary of Bruce lee's passing. Reportedly the exhibit involved too much information from Bruce Lee's childhood in the Lee family. Because the organizer the LCSD did not ask Bruce Lee's brother Lee Chun Fai or other family members for permission, Lee Chun Fai and his family were not invited to attend. Lee Chun Fai thus wrote to the LCSD to complain about being disrespected. Three days ago Lee Chun Fai said, "About two years ago, the LCSD first contacted me and my sister and said that they wanted to hold a Bruce Lee exhibit. They even brought me to visit the museum in Shatin. Then my sister and I returned to the U.S., they said that they wanted to continue the discussion and I said fine. I even went to San Francisco to meet with them again. I said that we made BRUCE LEE, MY BROTHER and had a set that we could display at the exhibit to see what our home used to look like. They even said, 'Great! Great idea.' but then nothing came of it." Then a month ago, Lee Chun Fai learned from the Bruce Lee Fan Club president Wong Yiu keung that the LCSD will hold the Bruce Lee exhibit as scheduled and work with Bruce Lee's widow Linda and daughter Shannon instead. At first Lee Chun Fai did not mind. He said, "I said it was no big deal, they could do whatever they like. Yet Wong Yiu Keung told me that the LCSD will continue to use the Bruce Lee home set. Then that's wrong! They took all my ideas, and the set that I designed. I came up with every idea, and you took it. Isn't it a violation of my intellectual property rights? I said no, Wong Yiu Keung relayed it to them. Then they wrote a letter to apologize and ask if I was interested in coming back to invite me to visit this exhibit. I felt like I have been used, they took my idea then they ran with it as their own. I was very upset. I welcome your museum and respect for my brother, but you didn't respect me and my sister at all." Bruce Lee's widow Linda and daughter Shannon Lee Heung Yi in 2006 began a dispute with Lee Chun Fai over the Bruce Lee copyright. Lee Chun Fai admitted that he had little contact with Linda and his niece. When asked about their relationship, Lee Chun Fai admitted, "It used to be OK, but it's not that great now. It's such a shame." As for the reason for the relationship deterioration, Lee Chun Fai said, "They thought I want to hog their rights, but everyone have their own rights. I have a duty and a mission to talk about my brother, but they just want the entire world to know that he had a wife and a daughter, as well as a son who passed away. The other people don't exist. That's impossible." Lee Chun Fai continued, "When I made this movie (BRUCE LEE, MY BROTHER), they wrote a legal letter to Media Asia and told them not to release this film. Then Media Asia approached me and Manfred Wong (Man Jun). Because I was the producer, we immediately went to the law office. The law office immediately sent a reply to them, since then they stopped. They know about our rights, it would be best for them if we don't speak, just disappear and automatically vanish. That's impossible." Ultimately they are a family, does he hope that everything can be resolved? Lee Chun Fai admitted, "I hope, I really really hope." * (2013/07/09) Mainland site Sohu's annual rotten film and great film survey is here again, but this time it first selected films from the first half of the year. As of yesterday afternoon, the Best film top five are the Vicki Zhao Wei directed SO YOUNG, the Xue Xiaolu directed FINDING MR. RIGHT, the Stephen Chow Sing Chi directed JOURNEY TO THE WEST CONQUERING THE DEMON, the Peter Chan Ho Sun directed AMERICAN DREAM IN CHINA and Johnnie To Kei Fung directed DRUG WAR (DUK JIN). The rotten film bottom five included the Andy Lau Tak Wa and Lin Chiling starred SWITCH, the Ko Chen-Tung and Mini Yang Mi starred TINY TIMES, the Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Zhang Ziyi starred THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI), the Jiong He and Xie Na starred BRING HAPPINESS HOME and the Guo Xiaoran and Niu Qun starred FOREVER LOVE 201314. The worst performing actress nominees were SWITCH's Lin Chiling, BADGES OF FURY's Michelle Chen, DRUG WAR's Huang Yi, A WEDDING INVITATION's Bai Baihe, and BADGES' Ada Liu Yan. The worst actors were TOGETHER's Donnie Yen Chi Tan, BETTER AND BETTER's Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, SAVING GENERAL YANG's Dior Cheng Yi Kin, CHRISTMAS ROSE's Xia Yu and SWITCH's Tong Dawei. So far Lin Chiling and Yen Chi Tan led. Many online thought that Tong Dawei instead of Lau Tak Wa being nominated for SWITCH was unfair, and that Wong Kar Wai's THE GRANDMASTERS was in the worst instead of best film catgeory was truly odd. [ BLAH OF THE WEEK ] Columns, Reviews, Interviews 1. MING PAO DAILY, JULY 14 2013, FILM WORDS LILLIAN LEE'S GHOSTS PLEASANTLY SURPRISES TALES FROM THE DARK (MAI LEI YEH) is a three part ghost film. of course it has horror and thrills, but it is not considered very terrifying. Instead it has a rather pleasantly surprising enjoyment. STOLEN GOODS: Simon Yam Directs and Stars I have written film critique for a long time and watched too many ghost films. I feel that the screamer crowd (mainly girls)'s shrieking work is pretty much the same, I particularly despise the scaring people out of the blue formula (like in foreign films the female lead often has to wander into dark basements alone). I also dislike Japanese ghost films that are full of death for a period. TALES FROM THE DARK fortunately has both horror and comedy, more funny than scary. In addition it is filled with Hong Kong city uniqueness and even displays anew the 80s Hong Kong ghost film joy at its peak. The fact is Chinese supernatural traditions have never been just about scaring people. From the ancient THE LEGEND OF THE WHITE SNAKE to STRANGE STORIES FROM A CHINESE STUDIO's CHINESE GHOST STORY (SIN NUI YAU WON) to Lillian Lee Bik Wa's original work ROUGE (YIN JI KAU) they are all very infatuated. THE DEAD AND THE DEADLY (YUN HAK YUN) and MR. VAMPIRE (GEUNG SI SIN SUN) are even witty and amusing. Over a year ago on a certain I ran into Lee Bik Wa, who just discussing adapting her ghost novels to the silver screen with friends. We talked about whether focusing on local audience and not relying on the Mainland market (the Mainland prohibits ghost films) is viable. I truly did not know the answer. Fortunately this project received the enthusiastic support of Hong Kong on and off screen filmmakers, as six ghost stories were successfully made into two films. Now the first film TALES FROM THE DARK is released first. Whether it makes or loses money, it indeed has achieved consideration performance. This film's first part STOLE GOOD is Simon Yam Tat Wa's first time directing. He also plays a down on his luck unemployed worker who lives alone in a rundown room. He is so poor that he has to "rob the dead". Yam Tat Wa plays the out of luck uncle who talks to himself very convincingly. As a new director he captures very strong visual and audio effects. Pale wandering ghosts are often seen around the corner and at the end of the street, as they bitterly seek sanctuary. This part although messes around with the camera a lot and cooks up the grotesque, yet it is full of modern satire; big city property prices are too expensive, even haunted homes continue to increase in value and lead to many ghosts losing their homes! The lead's night cemetery and niche market visit atmosphere is the most startling. The kidnapping ransom process makes fun of how merciless some family members are. Fortunately the Lok Ying Kwan and Maggie Siu Mei Kei played real estate agent couple truly have an endless relationship. The mobile phone romance is touching. A WORD IN THE PALM: Wonderfully Fun Modern Strange Tale My favorite is the Lee Chi Ngai directed second part A WORD IN THE PALM, which becomes a wonderfully fun modern strange tale. Tony Leung Ka Fai plays a fengshui master who can see ghosts, on the day before his retirement he runs into a spoiled female student ghost. The story takes place in a coffee shop, small shopping center, school swimming pool and a modern home, achieving the everyday life feel and familiar comedy sense. It even richly knits a teacher student romance, couple destiny and father and son relationship, as well as Chinese and Western style supernatural industries and even Chinese music and Western music are the film's interesting keys. With very few new films in recent years, Lee Chi Ngai this time displays exceptionally great conditions. Kelly Chen Wai Lam plays a foreign crystal shop owner who is surprisingly fun and funny. The mysterious female student Cherry Ngan Cheuk Ling is mischievous and natural. Please note that her starring film THE WAY WE DANCE (KONG MO PAI) will open soon. This is a fun Hong Kong youth film that has received overall good reviews at this year's Hong Kong International Film Festival. JING ZHE Maintains Common Attractiveness Already adapting Lee Bik Wa's original work as early as THREE... EXTREMES: DUMPLINGS (SAM GAN 2 ji GAU JI), Fruit Chan Gor directed the third part JING ZHE that is almost the most gimmicky, shooting the Hong Kong folk tradition that surprises foreigners: Canal Road villain hitting. Susan Shaw Yam Yam plays the wordy and tireless veteran under the bridge hitter who is old, strange and funny. Her clients who "orders the hits" are also strange, particularly hilarious is the Lo Hoi Pang played ZY Leung. Making fun of Chief Executive CY Leung, the audience of course roared with laughter. HOMECOMING (CHI SHUI LAU NIN)'s Josephine Koo Mei Wa became the "vicious" rich wife who refuses to pay after the service has been provided, which is obviously exaggerated. Actually Koo Mei wa maintains the modern woman shape, if the rich wife is played by STOLEN GOOD's Yuen Qiu then she would be even more convincing. JING ZHE's finale is a young female ghost who also comes for the villain hitting service, seeking revenge after being raped and murdered. The drama is more gimmicky than reasonable. This part fortunately maintains its common attractiveness from the beginning to the end. It even cooks up a series of explosive and bloody revenge. Playing the young girl, DaDa Chan Jing is delicate and charming, completely different from her erotic image from VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KET). Overall, TALES FROM THE DARK is worth supporting. The next film TALES FROM THE DARK 2 (KEI WAN YEH) will open in August, with Gordan Chan Ka Seung, Teddy Robin Kwan and Lawrence Ah Mon (Lau Kwok Cheung) each directing a part. Subtle yet immensely powerful, the film is triumphed by the wrenching performance of Nai An, the regular producer of filmmaker Lou Ye. Ying Liang’s direction is exceptionally calm and moving, playing as an observer to this ridiculous tragedy that no one will not feel harrowed when walking of the cinema. Like other teenagers, they’re stressing over upcoming college entrance exams – and even more so when they’re forced to join the school choir in order to fill a remaining requirement. There, their unorthodox instructor blends the principles of classic Western music and traditional Korean song. Though at first they are reluctant to learn, they soon find a love for this exciting blend of music… and are forced to band together when the school cancels their annual summer concert. Will their music survive? Tuesday, August 13, 2013 @ 7PM I AM. (New York Premiere, 2012) The music documentary I Am. follows the chart-topping 32 K-pop artists a part of SM TOWN as they prepare for a live performance at one of the world’s most prestigious venues: New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Shining light on what defines the performers and the intense effort that goes into their meticulously-staged concerts, this touching coming-of-age story is just as much about the growing pains and glory of the young artists as it is about their music. Featuring tons of incredible music and amazing K-pop cameos, this is the inside look into Korea’s popular music scene. Tuesday, July 30, 2013 @ 7PM TURN IT UP TO ELEVEN 2: WILD DAYS (New York Premiere, 2012) Galaxy Express, one of Korea’s biggest pop sensations, is known all over Asia. Their fame knows no bounds, but when the group decides to go to America, they quickly discover how difficult it can be to approach new people, cultures, and ideas. A stunning documentary that follows the legendary rock band on their most recent solo tour across America, Turn it Up to Eleven 2 is an intimate look into nineteen huge Galaxy Express concerts – and the unbelievable passion that goes into each and every one of them. Tuesday, July 16, 2013 @ 7PM PLAY (International Premiere, 2011) Mate was an indie band from Korea who happened upon fame in 2009, when Irish musician Glenn Hansard (of Swell Season and the hit musical “Once”) spotted them busking in the lobby of one of his concerts. This was the beginning of a dramatic debut, which would see bandmembers Jung Joon-Il, Yim Hun-Il, and Lee Hyun-jae rocketed to fame. Play chronicles these events, with the band appearing as themselves – and staying very truthful to their inspiring story. --- [ WHAT IS YOUR CHAFFING EDITOR LISTENING TO ] BEST I EVER HAD Gavin DeGraw http://youtu.be/Pca8wpUIzSg ---------------------- HK Top Ten Central hktopten@hotmail.com http://hktopten.orgfree.com | http://hktopten.blogspot.com
