Some said that to strike the iron while it is hot, Sing Yeh is already planning the sequel SAI YAU LIT GOR. He has been rumored to play "Piggy" this time. Some even said that Lee Lik Chi who used to work frequently with Sing Yeh revealed the news. Actually Sing Yeh and Lee Lik Chi have not worked with each other since SHAOLIN SOCCER, they were rumored to be at odds. Why would Lee Li Chi reveal the news? Thus Lee Lik Chi online rapidly denied that he revealed the news. He posted, "I never said that, I would never say it." Seemingly they may never work together again. Reportedly, Sing Yeh has already begun to plan the sequel. However he still would like to focus on directing, thus he might not play "Piggy" as rumored. Investors though of course would like Sing Yeh to perform, which would guarantee the film to break box office records again; yet Sing Yeh has not been tempted and would only focus on directing. In the sequel the journey will head to a kingdom of women. Piggy will even fight with Wen Zhang's Venerable Tang Monk for the king, which is right up Sing Yeh's love within laughter expertise. * (2013/05/29) Chapman To Man Jat, Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin and manager Mani Fok Man Hei yesterday attended their Emperor Motion Picture THE MIDAS TOUCH (CHIU CUP GAING LEI YUN) press conference in Beijing. The film's subject is topic between show business manager and artist, all of which have actual characters to study from. Because Mani was on hand, To Man Jat joked, "When Mani yells at people she is very terrifying, but she is very humorous. Ah Sa's character is a super manager who is just as professional as Mani, Mani stuffs money into my pockets to make me to emphasize on super and professional!" Ah Sa's character was based on Mani's manner of speech and work ethics, but she created the "eye roll" to make the character even funnier. Mani was asked which artist was the hardest to work with? She said, "To Man Jat and Ah Sa are considered easy to handle, the hardest is (Nicholas) Tse Ting Fung. At first we didn't get along well, but now his personality has changed a lot. He treats people around him very well." * (2013/05/29) Nick Cheung Ka Fai recently posed for the cover of JET magazine. His "display of power" was truly incredible. Many online questioned whether the photo was fake. Ka Fai said, "Many don't believe it's me. Earlier due to UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN) I had to get into fighting shape with a hellish training, everyday I had almost 30 egg white. I had so much protein that my urine had bubbles that were an inch thick and I had to flush several times. The worst part was the dehydration level in the end, every time I drank water I could only wet the corners of my mouth so the body would absorb the water and make the curves stand out. When I went to urinate I only had a few drops, which were brown. My face kept breaking out in acne. It was truly very scary." Ka Fai said that the production made him cry for help. He joked that in his 20 year career he has never panicked when he heard the director yell "places". He said, "Soon after the production began, I broke my pinky in one scene. Originally I was already in a lot of pain. However every shot I had to punch the punching bag, it really hurt too much!" Because the training process was too tough, Ka Fai joked that he was unwilling to be "big guy" again. * (2013/05/29) The 13th Chinese Film Media Award yesterday held a press conference in Quanzhou. Kitty Zhang Yuqi and Kenji Wu (Ng Hak Kwun) were invited to attend. The event announced this year's nominations. Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor, COLD WAR (HONG JIN)'s Tony Leung Ka Fai battles NIGHTFALL (DAI JUI BO)'s Nick Cheung Ka Fai and WHITE DEER PLAIN's Zhang Fengyi. Best Actress included GF*BF's Kwai Lun-Mei and MYSTERY's Hao Lei. Zhang Ziyi will again be the promotional ambassador. * (2013/05/28) Simon Yam Tat Wa earlier went to the Changbai Mountain to work on ICEMAN 3D (3D BING FUNG HUP), as soon as he arrived he ran into a snow storm. When the team headed to the location, the storm closed the road. The film company immediately called for a snow plow to clear it. Trapped in the mountain, Yam Tat Wa went outside the vehicle to entertain himself with snowballs. After half a day the road was finally cleared. When they arrived on the set, the actors rushed into their costumes, but when they were about to start shooting the sun was already set. The director could only reschedule the shoot. Luckily Yam Tat Wa immediately turned into a tour guide and joked that since everyone was in costume the opportunity should not be wasted. He and other actors Wang Baoqiang, Yu Kang and others took photos in the snow and brought cheer to the set. Playing an Imperial soldier, Yam Tat Wa looked mighty in the armor but actually only he knew the pain . Yam Tat Wa said that the armor weighed over 40 pounds. Every time he needed two strong men's assistance to put it on. Every time he had to spend half a hour to complete the task. Yam Tat Wa said that performing in the armor was particularly tough. Every move required a lot of strength. In addition he had many action scenes, he would not be able to handle them with a little less strength. * (2013/05/28) The Faye Wong and Li Yapeng founded Smile Angel Foundation yesterday held a fund raiser. It happened to be their daughter's 7th birthday but she did not appear. Faye Wong as usual did not speak to the media. Others guests included Carina Lau Ka Ling, Rosamund Kwan Chi Lam, Vicki Zhao Wei, Natasha Na Ying, Huang Yi, Eason Chan Yik Shun and Hilary Tsui Ho Ying. The evening raised over HK$10 million. Faye Wong two nights ago celebrated her daughter's birthday in advance with Lau Ka Ling, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Na Ying and her husband. Lau Ka Ling posted the photos online. Li Yang despite her deformity was still full of self confidence. Li Yapeng revealed that he and his wife gave a necklace to his daughter for her birthday. The birthday girl did not appear but donated her drawing "Little Bird and Panda" to be auctioned, which went to "Mainland stock goddess" Liu Yang for HK$1 million. Li Yapeng said that the drawing was the only item without a starting bid price. Originally Bowie Tsang Bo Yi made a bid for 100,000 on behalf of her father Eric Tsang Chi Wai, but the second bid already reached 1 million and won. Tsang Bo Yi joked that Chi Wai had no leg to stand on. Zhao Wei and five Mainland HAPPY CAMP family members He Jiong, Nana Xie Na and others were named 2013 Smile Angel Stars who in the upcoming year will help children with deformities. Because the venue was too noisy, Zhao Wei said on the stage, "Too many people are talking and are too noisy, everyone should pay attention to the stage. On the stage are the most popular hosts and the female director with the highest box office." The guests immediately quieted down. Zhao Wei even won the bid for "Warm North Pole" painting for HK$1.28 million. Someone donated 1 million for Chan Yik Shun to perform and he naturally complied. Tsang Chi Wai and Li Yapeng donated 1 million each for Na Ying to perform. Na Ying joked that she wanted to follow Li Yapeng home. Lau Ka Ling's husband Leung Chiu Wai went to Japan to promote THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI), thus he did not attend. She said, "I too wanted to bid on auction tiems, but very soon people exceeded my bids." Lau Ka Ling did not win the Cannes Film Festival Best Actress, but she said that she "made a profit". She said, "The performance already exceeded expectation. I disagree with the film critic's claim that the director's abilities were lacking and wasted my acting; without the director, there would be no BENDS (GOR GAI)." Zhao Wei spoke about her rumored dispute with Zhou Xun leading to a dispute with her friend Chen Kun. "This is just speculative news. We are just like we were before. Every time we have a movie release, some news would also appear and I don't like that too much. We haven't seen each other in two years, or rather I should say we haven't gone out privately in two years. Yet at work we still run into each other." Zhao Wei denied that she stopped following Chen Kun online. When asked if they were still "good friends", Zhao Wei said, "Yes yes yes" to confirm that their friendship remained unchanged. Zhao Wei praised Faye Wong's daughter Li Yan for being a natural artist. "I have seen Li Yan's artwork, she has a lot of talent. After being with her for awhile, I realize that she really has a lot of artistic genes. I believe in the future she definitely will be an artist. As for Tung Tung (Dou Ching Tung), her singing is truly great. Their entire family have al ot of artistic talent." As for her own daughter "Little April", Zhao Wei praised that she had a desire to perform. As for whether she will join show business, she kept an open mind and let her daughter choose. She even revealed that "Little April" also came with her on this trip and she will stay in Hong Kong for a few days to promote her film SO YOUNG. Emme Wong Yi man donated a HK$600,000 diamond watch. Speaking of her old flame Shawn Yue Man Lok and Kary Ng Yu Fei, Wong Yee Man said, "How can I not know? I congratulate his tail! Actually we have been very good friends, in constant contact. I also have sent a text message to congratulate him. We have known each other for over 10 years, now we have our new other halves and we have grown up a lot." Wong Yi Mee revealed that her boyfriend Chan Kwok Kwan already proposed. "Our relationship has been very stable. Actually he has already proposed, but I haven't agreed yet. He is sincere and attentive, but I still lack the impulse to marry." Michael Wong Man Tak attended with his wife Janet Ma Si Wai. Their oldest daughter Wong Man Hei was caught smoking at a night spot and he was upset. "Smoking is unhealthy!" Ma Si Wai protected her daughter, "Taking a few puff at social functions is acceptable, but not one after another. To me, smoking is not different from taking drugs. Are my daughter and her boyfriend very intimate? I feel the report was untrue, it was just a goodbye kiss. She is a big girl and dating is very normal. I already asked her to be more alert in public places, but I also don't want her to be affected because her parents are public figures." Ma Si Wai has already asked her daughter to quit smoking. After the report her daughter has already promised to quit the bad habit. * (2013/05/28) The 66th Cannes Film Festival closed yesterday. The only Chinese film in competition this year, A TOUCH OF SIN, won Mainland director Jia Zhangke his first Best Screenplay award. Jury chair Steven Spielberg praised him. "He is a director with vision. The 4 true stories in the film left a deep impression with the jury. Everyone liked it very much." As early as 2002 and 2008, Jia Zhangke participated in the Cannes Film Festival with UNKNOWN PLEASURES and STILL LIFE both returned home empty handed both times. This time with A TOUCH OF SIN he won his first Best Screenplay award. He said, "From UNKNOWN PLEASURES to now, a lot of changes have taken place in China. As a director I have been following these changes......the story has 4 characters who face pressure in the rapidly changing background, causing them to create sudden violence. I hope to consider violence through facing violence." A TOUCH OF SIN has been called Jia Zhangke's most commercial and most violent work to date. His wife Zhao Tao, Jiang Wu, Wang Baoqiang and others performed 4 shocking Mainland news stories of recent years, including sensitive subjects like the Deng Yujiao murder and the Foxconn employee suicide. Foreign media once suspected whether this film will be released in the Mainland? Jia Zhangke after the award reiterated that the film already has the state approval for an October release this year and stressed that the Mainland version will be the same as the Cannes version. Jia Zhangke said that today he will return home. He hoped to be able to celebrate with the cast and the crew in Beijing and share the joy with production partners across 4 provinces. Zhao Tao yesterday morning congratulated her husband online and posed a photo of them kissing. She could not hide her excitement. Zhang Ziyi presented that the Camera d'Or to Singapore director Anthony Chen for ILO ILO. After the closing ceremony ended, Zhang Ziyi posted online. "A beautiful journey suddenly ends, just like after the final note of a moving love song people are left with a sense of loss......I am on the road home, missing everything at home." * (2013/05/28) The Taiwan Golden Horse Award heads toward its 50th year and invites Maggie Cheung Man Yuk to be its "Golden Horse 50 ambassador". She appeared in Taiwan to promote the Golden Horse Award. Last year the Golden Horse Award jury chair was Andy Lau Tak Wa, some anticipated that this year Tony Leung Chiu Wai to serve; however, because Wai Jai's film THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI) will compete for Golden Horse Awards this year, he will not be both "the player and the official". Yesterday Cheung Man Yuk was asked about Leung Chiu Wai not being the jury chair, she joked that she will not be the ambassador as she only came for Wai Jai. Cheung Man Yuk has served on the Cannes, Berlin and Venice Film Festival juries. She was interested in the Golden Horse jury chair job and asked more about the three stages of the judging process and when to watch movies. However, did she want to be the jury chair? Cheung Man Yuk joked that if she took the job there would be no surprise! In recent years Cheung Man Yuk has already returned her base to Hong Kong as she hoped to spend more time with her family. Last year after breaking up with her German architect boyfriend of 5 years Ole Scheeren, she has been single for 1 year already. She said that she only permitted herself 3 months of "empty window period" after the break up, but now she enjoys the joy of being single. Did her parents urge her to wed? She said that she was married and divorced. Cheung Man Yuk as the Golden Horse 50 ambassador worked with director Hou Hsiao-Hsien and photographer Mark Lee Ping Bin on a 1 minute Golden Horse image commercial. They each have 5 Golden Horse awards. Cheung Man Yuk and Hou Hsiao-Hsien originally would have worked together on the film 1998 film FLOWERS OF SHANGHAI. At the time she just got married and had to move to French, she did not have time to learn Shanghainese and resigned. Hou Hsiao-Hsien joked that actually this problem could have been adjusted, like he turned Leung Chiu Wai's character Cantonese; she joked, "If I knew about that I would've taken it!" * (2013/05/28) Famous writer Lee Bik Wa's ghost series film TALES FROM THE DARK 1 (MAI LEI YEH) and TALES FROM THE DARK 2 (KEI WAN YEH) will be released in July and August. Each film will include three supernatural short stories, with Lee Chi Ngai, Lawrence Ah Mon (Lau Kwok Cheung), Fruit Chan Gor, Gordon Chan Ka Seung, Teddy Robin Kwan and Simon Yam Tat Wa as their directors. Yam Tat Wa will direct for the first time and perform. Other actors included Tony Leung Ka Fai as the fortune telling master with the ability to see ghosts, Kelly Chen Wai Lam as a crystal fortune teller, DaDa Chan Jing, Yuen Qiu, Fala Chen and Gordon Lam Ka Tung. * (2013/05/28) The Peter Chan Ho Sun directed AMERICAN DREAMS IN CHINA (JUNG GOK HUP FOR YUN) since its Mainland release in the middle of the month has made over 300 million yuan. The film will open in Hong Kong on May 30th. Before the production, the director wanted Huang Xiaoming to play the character that matched his looks. However he insisted on playing the dorky one with a wig and a fake belly. In a bathroom scene, Deng Chao and Tong Dawei showed off their muscles but Huang Xiaoming had to keep his clothes on. If he took off his clothes he looked too much like Mr. Fitness. Huang Xiaoming also had to conquer the English language. Two years ago he sang an English song in public and was made fun of for his lack of fluency. Thus before the shoot he kept rehearsing his English dialogue. When he went to shoot in the U.S. he even completed 4 pages of English dialogues. Even the workers there applauded him. * (2013/05/28) Johnnie To Kei Fung and Wai Ka Fai after attending the Cannes Film Festival went to Beijing for a BLIND DETECTIVE (MAN TAM) press conference. The dance scene with Andy Lau Tak Wa and Gao Yuanyuan was played. The film will be released in July. Gao Yuanyuan in the film played a dance teacher, the goddess of BLIND DETECTIVE Lau Tak Wa's heart. She said, "After working more with To Kei Fung, I am very happy. He is like a father to me, as long as he orders even without salary I will participate in the production. However he has to buy me wine." * (2013/05/28) The Andy Lau Tak Wa and Lin Chiling starred film SWITCH (TIN GEI FU CHUN SHAN GUI TOH) will be released on June 12. Because of the long post production, the cast looked forward to the film release very much. During the shoot, they went on location to many countries. The Dubai shoot was the most memorable to Wa Jai. He said because the production was very rushed, in Dubai they shot four locations in one day. During the location change he could only change in the vehicle. When he arrived at the next location, he went straight to work. A beach romance scene that to him was not difficult at all unexpectedly took an entire day to shoot because the director wanted to capture the magic hour. Lin Chiling due to the sea breeze often had to stop the production halfway. She said that when she delivered her lines her hair got into her mouth. Sometimes sand was on her face. Wa Jai was very attentive, when he realized there was a problem he would remind the make up artist to fix it for her. * (2013/05/27) Jeana Ho Pui Yu yesterday guest starred in the Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum) directed new film THE BEST PLAN IS NO PLAN (KAU NUI BUT LEI 3 HING DAI). She and Justin Cheung Kin Sing kissed six years on the streets of Kwun Tong! In the story they continued to be intimate after spending time at a hotel, but Justin's wife Jinny Ng Yuek Hei ran into them, scolded them and threw acid at them. Jeana immediately fell to the streets. * (2013/05/27) The Nicholas Tse Ting Fung starred Emperor Motion Picture AS THE LIGHT GOES OUT (DUT JUNG GAU WOON YING HUNG) showed its teaser in Cannes. Fellow Best Actors Ting Fung and Simon Yam Tat Wa were shown burnt and saving people in the fire. The shocking scenes attracted many overseas buyers to watch and discussed deals, as it became one of the Hong Kong films that caught international filmmaker attention at the Cannes Film Festival. * (2013/05/27) The Sammi Cheng Sau Man and Andy Lau Tak Wa starred new film BLIND DETECTIVE (MAN TAM) yesterday unveiled new stills. The duo, which Wa Jai described as a "strange bloom", played more commonplace jerk characters and thus felt that the production was a lot of fun. This film earlier held its premiere in Cannes and received high praise. Sammi yesterday revealed online her impression of Cannes. "Coming back from Cannes, I not only realize that I was thinner from being so busy but also that I rarely wore this label, color and cut, which actually feels quite easy and comfortable on me. People should not be complacent, many new items and matters can stimulate yourself and elevate your potential. With her eyes on the Cannes Film Festival, as an actor mi seemed to have learned a rare lesson. Thank you BLIND DETECTIVE." * (2013/05/27) Angelababy and Huang Xiaoming three years ago worked together on the film A SENTIMENTAL STORY will be released in August. Two days ago Baby along with director Gao Qunshu and Korean star Jae Hee attended the film's Shanghai press conference, where Baby and Xiaoming's passionate kiss scene was shown. She said that during the shoot due to the guidance from the director, her performance was relaxed, natural and not embarrassing. Xiaoming did not attend but in his video he revealed that he recommended Baby to the director for this film and said that Baby might have been at a newcomer at the time but her acting was good and she was hard working. Baby rarely publicly expressed her appreciation of Xiaoming. She said, "I salute Huang Xiaoming!" Baby said, "At the time I was still a newcomer. I was very nervous when I met the director. The impression that he gave me was 'serious face'. Later I learned that he actually was a 'tender heart'. On the set I didn't know who to ask for help, so I could only learn acting from my co-stars. Xiaoming was particularly diligent. No matter how long the shoot was or what kind of scene he never complained. Now I am working harder, which actually is a salute to him. He taught me a lot of things." * (2013/05/26) Angelababy yesterday attended her film A SENTIMENTAL STORY press conference in Shanghai. Playing a cop in the film, Baby felt that the character felt rather fresh. Baby said that her first time firing a gun was very memorable. She was so scared that she was speechless, and she was injured because of it. She said, "Looking back now, that was the first time I fired a gun. For the character, it was also the first time she fired a gun, then she even accidentally injured someone. That time was truly my first shot so that feeling was especially terrifying. In addition that gun kicked back and scratched my hand." She continued, "When I saw this character, I liked it very, very much. It told a very sentimental story about a woman, so I wanted to challenge myself." * (2013/05/26) Shine yesterday attended an auction preview. Later they will work on a Fruit Chan Gor New film. Wong Yau Nam said that he has not worked with Chan Gor in ten years and thus he was excited. Tsui Tin Yau happily expressed that Chan Gor tailored a character that was completely different from him, thus he asked him to grow facial hair and shave the sides of his heads. He would not mind even if Chan Gor wanted him to shave his whole head. * (2013/05/25) Tony Leung Chiu Wai's development plan was affected earlier due to anti Japanese sentiment, as his Japanese film 1905 with popular idol Atsuko Maeda due to a variety of reasons was unable to start production. Months ago the project was announced as scrapped. At the end of the month, the Wong Kar Wai directed THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI) has been scheduled for a release in Japan. Leung Chiu Wai has confirmed that he will head to Tokyo for the premiere with Wong Kar Wai next Thursday, returning to promote in Japan after 4 years. Due to the gradual easing of tension between China and Japan, Japanese film companies have begun to promote THE GRANDMASTERS. Aside from releasing a "Wing Chun massage therapy" at beauty salons there, a promotion will take place in Kobe Chinatown with hope to repair the relationship between the two countries. * (2013/05/25) Chang Chen and Kwai Lun-Mei earlier appeared on a Cable interview and discussed their experience on Charlie Yeung Choi Nei's directing debut, CHRISTMAS ROSE (SING DAN MUI GWAI). Playing a doctor who violates his patient, Chang Chen laughed and said, "After I read the script I didn't really want to perform!" He explained that years ago he and Yeung Choi Nei spoke about working on a movie together, but he never expected his character was the last to be cast. He was not approached until a month before the shoot began. He said, "This character is very controversial, I never thought that I would have a chance to play a character who has something to do with sexual assault." Siu Mei said, "After I learned that Chang Chen would play the role I relaxed. Because we have worked together before, we already have great chemistry. I trust him very much. The sexual assault scene actually was scheduled for three days, but the shoot went very smoothly and we finished it in two days!" * (2013/05/25) The Diana Pang Tan written, directed, starred and produced film ON THE NI NAN WAN FRONTIER will open in Hong Kong in July. With an over 40 million yuan RMB investment, the film shot on location on the Huang River, the glacier plateau and the Grand Canyon. She in order to bring the character to life, before the shoot she went to experience life in Nan Ni Wan, suffering and toiling along with the civilians. During the shoot the temperature reached 30 degrees Celsius below zero. Over 100 members of the team succumbed to the low temperature but Pang Tan was able to withstand it. "I have Hong Kong filmmakers' tough spirit, in the past many people misunderstood Hong Kong filmmakers. They feel that we only know how to make absurd comedy and act like big shots. Actually we are very professional and are very tough." Although the shoot gave her gray hair, Pang Tan did not throw a tantrum or act upset. Thus the crew called her "Sister Fairy" and "Brother Tan". She even gained 20 pounds for the male disguise role in the first half, then lost it again. As a political consultative conference member, Pang Tan said that it did not conflict with her film work. As for Stephen Chow Sing Chi being criticized for being absent to the conference, she said, "Chow Sing Chi is beyond my control, my attendance rate is 100%. Even when I was sick I still insisted on attending, and I was never late." She felt that since she promised to serve then she should attend all of the conference. "The political consultative job is a duty, not a halo". * (2013/05/24) Carina Lau Ka Ling, Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Gigi Leung Wing Kei, Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam) and others last night attended a Bazaar Art night. Ka Ling just returned from the Cannes Film Festival early due to work. She felt that she has done more than enough for her film BENDS (GOR GAI) and she would care too much about winning an award. She said, "This time the biggest experience is the feeling of not giving myself a limit. I should help young people more. I can't just consider commercial films. Quality work naturally has people who appreciate it." Chin Wa admitted that she would cultivate her son Torres Ting Chun Lok's pursuit of art and music because Torres has potential in both. She said, "He can be a musician, as he is interested in piano and drums. If you give him a microphone, he would hold it so tight that you can get it off him. On the other hand he has no interest in children's toy cars and dinosaur figures." She joked that she could be Torres' manager in the future. She would not object to her son joining the business, but he at the most basic had to finish university. As for another child, Chin Wa said, "I have to fulfill the unfinished contract before that, but I would take it naturally. Actually someone asked my hubby to make a movie, but when he read the script at home he was both nervous and stiff. I asked him not to take it and better off focusing on behind the scene work. Maybe 10 years later, we will be able to perform as a couple like (Liza) Wang Ming Chuen and Law Kar Ying. We might reach another peak in our career." * (2013/05/24) Jacqueline Chong Si Man, Hanjin Tan (Chan Woon Yun), Shiga Lin Si Nga, Jinny Ng Yuek Hei, Sammy Sum Chun Hin and Lo Hoi Pang yesterday worked on the Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum) films THE BEST PLAN IS NO PLAN (KAU NUI BUT LEI 3 HING DAI). It happened to be Ng Yuek Hei's birthday and the cast presented a cake. Lo Hoi Pang gave a mischievous congratulation, "you are exaggeratingly tall, truly Go Sau Ping (tall thin flat)!" Chong Si Man in the film originally was paired with Sum Chun Hin, but her sister Lin Si Nga interrupted them. She on the other hand had a passionate bed scene with Chan Woon Yun. Due to the height difference, during the shoot she followed the photographer's suggestion of "woman on top". Chong Si Man said that it was both tough and awkward. "During the shoot I only had underwear on. I knelt on Chan Woon Yun for a long time. After the shoot my legs had many bruises. I don't know if he kicked me." Was Chan Woon Yan's wife on hand to supervise? Chong Si Man said, "No, I was the most upset that his wife was very relaxed. She thought I was no threat! Chan Woon Yun explained that his wife felt that I had standards and would not mess around with other people's husbands or boyfriends." Chan Woon Yun joked that during the shoot he could not see anything so he was not embarrassed. He also did not have any biological reaction. "I try not to think about that. She wildly opened up my shirt and kissed me. She also kissed my belly. Then I sang, 'love is over, please don't rape me'." Lin Si Nga played a third party, and in real life she was rumored to be one; was she afraid that her image would be harmed? She said, "Viewers would clearly differentiate. If I was afraid that I would be limited in roles." * (2013/05/23) Chrissie Chau Sau Na yesterday turned 28. Earlier the film KICK ASS GIRLS (BAU 3 CHIU GIU WA) celebrated her, Hidy Yu Hiu Tung and producer Wong Wing Fung's birthdays with a surprise party. At first everyone normally popped champagne bottles and sang birthday songs. Suddenly Sister Na attacked the producer with cream. Hidy joined in and slammed the entire cake on the producer's head to start a cake war. Sister Na was "hesitant" but rather enjoyed this cream spa. Sister Na earlier in the year announced her breakup. She revealed that this year she dined with friends and already began scheduling in early May. She said that both she had both male and female suitors, but she hoped to get to know them further before developing any relationship. She believed in feeling and would take everything naturally. Her birthday wish was good health for herself and those around her, because after her on the set injury she realized health was more important than everything. "The Malaysian Papaya" Chris Tong Bingyu recently worked on the Chau Sau Na's new film KICK ASS GIRLS. Two nights ago after work she drove from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. Robbers stopped her car and robbed her. Tong Bingyu claimed that she lost almost 10,000 in the robbery and was also attacked when she resisted. She called the police and was immediately sent to the hospital for treatment. Today she is still under observation. Tong Bingyu through her manager revealed that recently she kept receiving disturbing calls. During the robbery she already screamed for help, she was lucky to be alive. She also worried that her injury would affect the new film's production progress. Sister Na was very surprised. "I saw her injured photos and my heart really ached. Actually a girl alone at night really shouldn't drive, the best was to have someone with her. That way there was someone to help no matter what! Originally in June I will fly to Malaysia to wrap up the new film. Now Bingyu is injured, I have to see how her condition will be before knowing it will go on as scheduled. I am worried about the production progress too." * (2013/05/23) Carina Lau Ka Ling two nights ago posted online a photo of her husband Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Andy Lau Tak Wa in a sit down chat. She personally took the photo and they looked friendly and relaxed. Online curiosity was piqued and the response was overwhelming. Last night it had over 1,500 comments and over 3,000 retransmits. Some online described this as a "meeting of hunks" and looked forward to them working together again; A message asked, "What are they discussing? When will they work on another film together? Both are excellent men." Hong Kong Best Actress Lau Ka Ling and Mainland star Chen Kun starred in the film BENDS (GOR GAI), which was selected for the Cannes Film Festival Un Certain Regard segment. After the premiere the film received many praises. Ka Ling even might have a chance at Best Actress. They earlier in an interview with director Flora Lau Wan Man said that they were willing to work with younger generations for almost no salary. Ka Ling admired Lau Wan Man's persistence. "If the film has us, more or less it would add sexy and bed scenes. Yet she didn't compromise for commercial elements. I admire her character." Ka Ling played a character whose husband, family and friends abandoned. Even her driver Chen Kun used her. She said that her personal experience put her in character even more. "I really have to thank my past, but right now nothing can affect me. I really appreciate the words that Lam Ching Ha (Brigitte Lin) gave me back then, 'face it, accept it, resolve it, let it go'." As for Cannes Best Actress chances, Ka Ling laughed and said, "Ha ha! At this stage I already have a reputation, I will worry about the award when it happens! Right now whether I win or now no longer matters, I really enjoy every moment at work." She admitted that she might not stay until the announcement on the final day. In recent years Ka Ling had few performance opportunities. She admitted that she would like to choose more challenging scripts. Will she rest for a year like her husband Tony Leung Chiu Wai? She said, "We have been together for over a decade and have a way of life. I won't hinder his movie productions. We have a great degree of freedom." I hope to see the audience's response when the film will be released in Hong Kong in August." * (2013/05/23) Former Shaw film star Wan Kin Ping (stage name Hong Wai) passed away in the U.S. at the age of 73. Hong Wai's wife Jenny Hu (Wai Yin Nei) was a 60s Shaw star. They had two sons, older son Wan Chi Yeung is a lawyer in the U.S. Younger son Terence Yin (wan Chi Wai) followed his parents' footsteps into show business. Wan Chi Wai yesterday returned to the U.S. for the funeral. He announced the news of his ailing father's passing online last week and said that the news of his father's death was too sudden. He wrote, "To me and my family, this happened very suddenly. I never publicly responded to this because I hoped to return home first and handle this with my family. Today I am returning to the U.S. I want to thank friends for their concern and assistance to me. It means a lot to me." Reportedly Hong Wai passed away after suffering a stroke in the U.S. His son Wan Chi Wai shortened his Mainland work trip to return to the U.S. Hong Wai was a Shaw film star. After marrying Wu Yin Nei he moved to behind the scene work, directing four films. Two starred his wife; later he immigrated to the U.S. Donnie Yen Chi Tan, Andy Tien (On Chi Kit), Susan Shaw Yam Yam and Lee San San all expressed their sorrow online over the news of the passing and sent their condolences to his family. * (2013/05/23) Chang Chen and Kwai Lun-Mei reunited 5 years after PARKING in Charlie Yeung Choi Nei's directing debut CHRISTMAS ROSE (SING DAN MUI GWAI). Playing a paraplegic piano teacher, Siu Mei sued a Chang Chen played doctor for sexual assault. Siu Mei in order to bring life to this paraplegic character lived and chatted with several handicapable women; during the shoot she put the wheel chair at her hotel, treated herself as handicapped and used the wheelchair instead of walking. Siu Mei said, "Using wheel chair requires a lot of arm strength. It's not simple. Early in the shoot, my arms were sore and tired." Has she been taken advantage of? Siu Mei laughed and said, "No, just take a look at me. I look like a boy." Working with Siu Mei again, how did Chang Chen feel? Chang Chen said, "I already knew Siu Mei from her first film BLUE GATE CROSSING. We have known each other for over 10 years. This time we worked together again, I feel that this girl has grown up and is a big girl. This character of hers is very complicated, but she grasps it very well. The ending court scene surprises me the most. She seriously cultivated her emotions for a long time. During the shoot you can see her explosive power." They also praised Yeung Choi Nei as a good director. Chang Chen said, "I saw the movie and thought Yeung Choi Nei handled it very well. I am happy for her. It's not simple or easy at all for a girl to be a director, she probably had a lot of pressure. Yet her performance was very relaxed; if it was me, i would be scratching my head everyday and pulling out all my hair." Chang Chen once thought about directing but did not know what message he had for viewers. Siu Mei had no such plan yet because she still had many characters that she wanted to try. Chang Chen made fun of Siu Mei. "If she directed, she would play every character once and act like she has a dissociative personality disorder." [ BLAH OF THE WEEK ] Columns, Reviews, Interviews 1. MING PAO DAILY, MAY 26 2013, FILM WORDS CHRISTMAS ROSE: CHARLIE YEUNG PASSES First let's talk about the box office, IRON MAN 3 has been in release in Hong Kong for month. Now it has already made over HK$100 million. This amount although pale in comparison to the film's current U.S. box office of US$340 million and over 700 million yuan RMB in Mainland China, or the global calculation of US$1 billion. Yet for a single city it can be said as very high, obviously Hong Kong film viewers' consumer power remained strong. Unfortunately Hong Kong film occupied less and less percentage of the local box office, as Hollywood blockbusters had all the advantage. Hong Kong style production remained popular in the Mainland, but as the Mainland film industry's commercialization and localization suddenly took off it no longer heavily relied on Hong Kong stars and directors. Most recently Ng See Yuen pointed out this trend and reminded Hong Kong colleagues to take note. As for Hong Kong films, female star Charlie Yeung Choi Nei's directing debut CHRISTMAS ROSE (SING DAN MUI GWAI) has Hong Kong, Taiwan and Mainland stars as well as many on and off screen help. It is made decently. This is a court trial film. Kwai Lun-Mei played a paraplegic piano instructor who sued doctor Chang Chen for sexual assault. The prosecutor Aaron Kwok Fu Sing is very sympathetic to her, as he debated with defense lawyer Xia Yu in court to obtain justice for her. I am not certain whether the story completely met with the Hong Kong legal process. Definitely the screen writers put in a lot of effort to point out that sexual assault cases were not easy to prove, but it could very easily become a media public trial that left both the plaintiff and the defendant wronged and defamed. CHRISTMAS ROSE was rare in its depiction of the intricate situation of both sides, displaying how complicated the law and humanity are. The case is full of twists and turns. From the first trial to the appeal the truth is finally revealed. Kwok Fu Sing, Kwai Lun-Mei, Chang Chen, Xia Yu all performed decently. Qin Hailu, Liu Kai Chi, Theresa Lee Yi Hung, Pat Ha Man Jik and others all performed. The entire film had a middle class special packaging and produced very seriously, both the cinematography and the music score achieved quality. Yet the story was rather short, the truth in the appeal probably could have been explained more in detailed. In particular in investigation the background and finding new witnesses, if the depiction was strengthen it could have added more intrigue and suspense. Unfortunately this process was not shot and overall the drama was less than thorough. As a new director, Yeung Choi Nei obviously passed. Hopefully from now on she will have another chance to develop further. - SHEK KEI [ In Production Now/Soon ] THE BEST PLAN IS NO PLAN Can : Kau Nui But Lei 3 Hing Dai d.
