* (2013/05/22) Terence Yin (Wai Chi Wai)'s father, former Shaw artist 
Wan Kin Ping (stage name Hong Wai) passed away from a stroke on Mother's 
Day in the U.S. at the age of 73.  Hong Wai's wife Jenny Hu (Wu Yin Nei) 
was also a Shaw star.  
	Kenneth Tsang Kong yesterday confirmed Hong Wai's death.  He 
said, "Her sister told me."  Elliott Ngok Wa who started in Shaw at the 
same time as Hong Wai also confirmed the news.  He said, "We haven't 
been in contact for a long time.  The last time I went to the U.S. I went 
to the karaoke box with them to sing.  I heard earlier he had a stroke, 
later he still might be drinking, he had liver problem as well.  I heard 
that he passed away on Mother's Day."
	Hong Wai's sister, veteran media person Wan Man Wai already 
went to the U.S. to prepare her brother's funeral.  Wai Chi Wai also 
cut short his originally scheduled Mainland job to return to the U.S.  
Kam Kwok Leung three days ago posted an eulogy online.  "Mr. Hong Wai 
just passed away.  He directed I AND O (CHI HUNG BIN) in 1974, which 
starred Wu Yin Nei, Kam Yin Ling (Elaine Jin), Siu Yam Yam (Susan Shaw), 
Chiao Chiao, Lee Tao Hung, (James) Wong Jim......and me."
	Hong Wai and Wui Yin Nei fell in love while working on a movie, 
wed in 1969 and had two sons.  Originally an actor Hong Wai turned into a 
director, he then directed four movies.  Two of them HOW BIG! HOW BIG! 
(SAM CHUT YI YUT) and MY LOVE, MY SIN (MAI WAT) starred Wu Yin Nei.  At 
the end of February Wan Chi Wai posted a family photo of his father's 
birthday on facebook.

* (2013/05/22) Mainland director Jia Zhangke and his wife Zhao Tao 
said about Zhang Ziyi being criticized after praising his new film A 
TOUCH OF SIN, "I thank her for her support.  Her jury work was in a 
different segment from ours, so she was able to express her feeling.  
People only yelled at her because they didn't understand.  (Reportedly 
TOUCH reflected on the Foxconn incident?)  The film was inspired by 
internet violent cases, the characters and the story were all fictional.  
The film passed inspection and will be released in the Mainland in 
October.  I am very happy that this film brought out a reflection of 
Chinese culture, now it is open.  (How was your wife's performance?)  I 
used to think she brought a little luck, now she has opened my eyes.  
(Will you work with Johnnie To Kei Fung?)  Earlier I took time off with 
him to make TOUCH, he told me to 'hurry back'.  Later we will start a 
collaboration."  Director Jia also praised Carina Lau Ka Ling and Chen 
Kun's performance in BENDS (GOR GAI).
	Zhao Tao said, "This character is full of tension, which is 
rather hard to play.  I started in dance, and added dance choreography 
in the murder scene.  The result was decent.  For this film I cut the 
hair that I have grown for two years, which was somewhat regrettable but 
work was more important.  I wasn't worried about inspection, the 
director was very courageous."

* (2013/05/22) Wai Ying Hung, Korean star Jo Han-Sun, Wylie Chiu Shek Chi 
and Victor Chen Si Hong starred WINTER IS HOPED promoted in Cannes.  
Earlier the film caught the eyes of two Busan Film Festival 
representatives, who hoped that they would complete the film soon to 
participate in their event.  It also caught the interest of many overseas 
buyers.  Director Ray Woo Wai Sing was happy to hear that WINTER caught 
the attention of Busan Film Festival.  "We will return to Hong Kong to 
take care of post production as soon as possible and hope to be able to 
make the film festival."

* (2013/05/22) Mainland director Geng Weiguo (also known as Tan Bing) 
publicly blamed Donnie Yen Chi Tan twice for his film JUNG GIK GAI MA 
(ULTIMATE DECODING) not being able to start production.  Because the 
claims might cause severe damage to his reputation, Chi Tan decided to 
file a lawsuit against Tan Bing with the Beijing Haidian District Court 
in February for a written apology and 5 million RMB in compensation.
	The case had hearings on March 14th and May 20th, but Tan Bing 
did not appear either time!  Yesterday, Tan Bing finally appeared and 
held a press conference.  He claimed that because he has been working on 
his new film, he did not receive the summons and thus remained silent.  
He even stated that the matter was in his lawyer's hands now.
	Yen Chi Tan's spokesperson Ms. Cheung replied, "Although Tan 
Bing claimed that he was unable to receive the summons, the court 
directly called him over the phone.  He said that he was working on a 
movie, how could he not know Yen Chi Tan was suing him?  He did not 
appear in court twice, which was contempt.  Tan Bing made multiple crazy 
accusations against Chi Tan, which were very excessive speculative 
behavior.  Chi Tan thought that they would not be encouraged and the only 
action to take was a lawsuit.  Chi Tan also believed that the Beijing 
court will obtain justice for him!"

* (2013/05/22) Taiwan star Eddie Peng Yu-Yen and Best Actor Nick Cheung 
Ka Fai starred in the new film UNBEATABLE (GIK JIN), which was selected 
to have its Gala Premiere at the Taipei Film Festival and to take part 
in the Shanghai International Film Festival.  Eddie was even nominated 
with his on screen fighting trainer Ka Fai for the Shangha International 
Film Festival Golden Goblet Award for Best Actor.  Eddie said, "Director 
(Dante) Lam Chiu Yin was very demanding.  I had three months of training 
in various martial arts in order to bring life to the character.  In the 
three months of working on UNBEATABLE, all of my conditions, both 
physical and emotional, were pushed to their limits."

* (2013/05/21) Charlie Yeung Choi Nei's directing debut CHRISTMAS ROSE 
(SING DAN MUI GWAI) yesterday held its premiere in Beijing.  Its 
producers Tsui Hark, Jacob Cheung Chi Leung, actors Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, 
Chang Chen, Kwai Lun-Mei and others attended.  Everyone had a pleasant 
experience with Yeung Choi Nei and praised her for being gentle and 
attentive.  Chang Chen said, "Charlie never got mad, everyday she brought 
coffee to the set.  She was especially gentle when she was explaining the 
scene."
	Siu Mei followed, "She is great, she didn't like the heat so she 
gave a little fan to each one of us."  Sing Sing joked that the Jade Girl 
clan leader Yeung Choi Nei now is "Jade Rice" (corn).  He joked, "She 
now isn't Jade Girl, she is corn, corn among Jade Girls is a very 
nutritious item."  Sing Sing denied that he will wed at age 50.  
Yesterday he again avoided talking about his love life.
	Yeung Choi Nei accepted everyone's compliments.  As for the box 
office, she said that it was beyond her control.  Fellow first time 
director Vicki Zhao Wei's film SO YOUNG broke 600 million RMB at the 
Mainland box office.  Yeung Chi Nei said, "I have seen the film and liked 
it very much, the pressure is enormous."

* (2013/05/21) Donnie Yen Chi Tan has endless film offers, but in order 
to support the film industry he only added a suitable amount salary for 
ICEMAN 3D (3D BING FUNG HUP).  After ten years of marriage with his wife 
Cissy Wang, he said that everyday has been very romantic.  He even called 
himself "the strongest and the most romantic in the universe".
	"The Strongest in the Universe" Yen Chi Tan promoted his films at 
the Cannes Film Festival.  Speaking of all the troubles with his film 
ICEMAN 3D like the snowstorm in the Changbai Mountain and the film needed 
to be split into two parts for release, Chi Tan only added a little 
salary to support the film industry.
	Chi Tan did not deny that.  "Sometimes you can't be so tight with 
every cent.  I only hope the audience will like it and I can answer to 
them.  If the film will be a big hit, the film company will be able to 
give me a big lai see then."  In addition, due to the snowstorm delaying 
the Changbai Mountain location shoot, Chi Tan personally called Emperor 
boss Albert Yeung Sau Sing and asked for a two month delay on the Emperor 
Motion Picture YUT GOR YUN DIK MO LUM so he would be able to focus on 
ICEMAN 3D.  As for rumors that Wang Baoqiang's role in YUT was originally 
Aaron Kwok Fu Sing's, Chi Tan said, "I am not sure, Wang Baoqiang and I 
have known each other for years.  I admire him very much.  He is not 
only outstanding in a comedy.  I look forward to working with him and 
(Charlie) Yeung Choi Nei very much."
	This year is the tenth wedding anniversary of Chi Tan and his 
wife Cissy Wang.  Earlier Cissy stated that she will shoot a sexy 
wedding photo series with his husband.  Chi Tan admitted that although 
he was busy with work, he still will take time off to be with his wife.  
As for sexy wedding photos, he had reservation.  "What is there to 
shoot!  At most we can just shoot each other with our photos and not 
save them on the computer.  Actually if two people are good together, 
everyday can be very romantic.  I am a very romantic person, not only am 
I the strongest in the universe, I am also the strongest and the most 
romantic in the universe!"
	Reportedly a Hollywood film company is interested in investing 
HK$800 million to remake Akira Kurosawa's SEVEN SAMURAI with Chi Tan, 
Zhang Ziyi and George Clooney.  Chi Tan admitted that he has been in 
negotiations for the film that wanted him to work with Ziyi and George 
Clooney, but he was uncertain about the details.  He only knew that it 
would be an Akira Kurosawa film remake.  He said, "If it really is a 
SEVEN remake I would look forward to it very much, because Kurosawa was 
a director who I admired."

* (2013/05/21) Linda Chung Ka Yun recently has been linked to wealthy 
church member Desmond Pang Kei Yin, who two nights ago attended the 
HIDDEN TREASURE (MOR SHUI SI DIK BO BUI) premiere.  In the film he and 
the female lead had intercourse and she became pregnant out of wedlock.  
he said that in real life as a Christian he declines premarital sex.
	Speaking of rumors with Ka Yun BB made his popularity rise, Pang 
Kei Yin said, "I truly thank everyone, I never imagined that I would have 
a cover (magazine).  Since I started I haven't had a lot of coverage, 
this time I was blessed with a goddess to be my rumored girlfriend, I 
really am very appreciative!"  He said that he warmed up slowly.  Since 
he and Ka Yun BB have not known each other long, they are still friends.  
For now he still has not thought about pursuing her.  "We have only met 
a few times, she is a good fellow church member.  I don't dare to reach.  
(Zac) Kao Ho Ching said that I am a picky hot property?  Haha, I am just 
careful with making friends."
	Kong Wa two nights ago attend the Media Evangelism Ltd.'s digital 
film HIDDEN TREASURE.  In the film he played a magician and performed 
with his usual "Andy Lau Tak Wa style chok".  His wife Mak Kitman also 
showed her support.

* (2013/05/21) Andy Lau Tak Wa and Sammi Cheng Sau Man appeared on the 
Cannes Film Festival red carpet for their film BLIND DETECTIVE (MAN TAM).  
They who have been doing nonstop interviews actually ran into friends 
Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Carina Lau Ka Ling at the hotel for an impromptu 
INFERNAL AFFAIRS (MO GAN DOH) reunion.  BLIND DETECTIVE received good 
reviews at the premiere, but Wa Jai revealed that viewers called him a 
"jerk"!
	Wa Jai and Sammi went to Cannes to promote their film BLIND 
DETECTIVE.  At the global premiere, many Chinese actors came to show 
their support.  The leads dressed up for the occasion, Sammi in 
particular was nervous about her first time on the Cannes red carpet.  
This was Wa Jai and Sammi's seventh collaboration, they described their 
chemistry has already been elevated to resemble an "old couple".  They 
were very excited to receive the audience's enthusiastic response at the 
premiere.  Wa Jai joked that many viewers called him a "jerk".  He said, 
"This time the director and the screen writers designed the character for 
me because I asked to play a blind person.  However the character truly 
was quiet a jerk, so should I be happy or not when people yell at me?"
	Sammi thanked Wa Jai for bringing her acting into another level.  
She said, "Working with Wa Jai on a movie is like playing ball.  When he 
serves a quality ball to me, I have the confidence to return it.  He can 
stimulate my potential.  When he is mad, I am madder than him.  Every 
time when I see him risking his life in his performance, I would force 
myself to catch up to his quality."  Yet Wa Jai admitted that when he 
saw Sammi risking her life and sometimes did not know how to protect 
herself, he was very worried.  He said, "Sometimes she didn't know about 
the dangerous.  She loves others plenty, but she doesn't love herself 
enough."
	Many Chinese people participate in this year's Cannes Film 
Festival.  Sammi before the trip would like to run into Lau Ka Ling the 
most.  She never expected to have such a coincidence.  As she and Wa Jai 
were preparing to leave at the hotel, in the lobby they ran right into 
Ka Ling and Leung Chiu Wai.  They exchanged congratulations and cheers 
and posed for photos for the media; a quick glimpse would mistake them 
for a INFERNAL AFFAIRS cast reunion.
	Johnnie To Kei Fung yesterday spoke to the media in Cannes.  He 
revealed that in 2015 he will make ELECTION 3 (HAK SEH WUI 3), just in 
time for the film's 10th anniversary.  He admitted that among all his 
films, he put the most effort into making only five films: THE MISSION 
(CHEUNG FOR), EXILE (FONG JOOK), LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE (DUET MING GUM), 
SPARROW (MAN JUEK) and PTU.  His other work mainly focused on commercial 
elements to make money for the company.  He also mentioned that he has 
never accepted or adapted to the Mainland "inspection culture" and 
"bureaucracy and face giving culture".  He even revealed that he 
intended to retire at age 65.  Currently 58 he admitted that it was time 
to find a successor.

* (2013/05/21) Carina Lau Ka Ling and Chen Kun spoke to the media in 
Cannes about their film BENDS.  In the film they played a Hong Kong upper 
class socialite and a Mainlander driver.  Their character struggled 
through many emotional scenes.  Ka Ling could not help but shed real 
tears as true emotions flowed.
	They at the press conference exchanged compliments.  Ka Ling 
said, "I am older than him, he is my junior.  I am very lucky to run into 
an excellent actor like Chen Kun.  I would make different attempts with 
every one of my movie, emotional scenes in particular.  He was able to 
receive them."  Chen Kun said that when he first met Ka Ling he already 
sensed her charm.  On and off camera she was very happy to take care of 
others.
	Their characters had class and cultural differences.  Ka Ling 
joked that in real life she only belonged to the upper middle class.  
"Happiness is not measured with money, happiness is for you to find in 
life, to see how you face life and your so-called happiness.  At home 
(Tony) Leung Chiu Wai concentrates on his model building and Wing Chun, 
while I am busy with bills and chores.  Yet I am very happy too, I don't 
want to keep an eye on my husband.  I only want to help him achieve."
	Speaking of the growing conflict between China and Hong Kong, Ka 
Ling felt that being on the same earth everyone should coexist 
peacefully.  "We shouldn't create hypothetical or deliberate conflict.  We 
would have conflict, which is understandable.  Originally Hong Kong and 
the Mainland have completely different backgrounds, now the relationship 
is closer.  We should think about the premise first and shouldn't blow up 
the matter too much."  She praised new director Flora Lau Wan Man for not 
adding bed scenes or controversial scenes for commercial elements and 
persisting on her original idea.  She has won her respect.
	Ka Ling and Chen Kun said that this collaboration has been very 
pleasant.  Ka Ling said, "People need exchanges, after understanding each 
other then we can get into characters.  Chen Kun and I had great 
exchanges!"  She even said that Chen Kun will be a great actor.  Chen Kun 
said, "I was both excited and nervous about working with Sister Ka Ling!"  
He pointed out that he worked on a film in Hong Kong for an extended 
period of time for the first time.  A stranger in a strange place, he 
appreciated Ka Ling for taking care of her.
	Foreign media raved about Ka Ling's touching break down scene.  
Ka Ling said, "At the time the shoot was about to come to an end, so I 
was already in character, captured the feeling.  After finishing it it 
feels very gratifying!"  She even talked about her philosophy.  "No one 
knows what will happen tomorrow.  I am already at this age, I am more 
relaxed with a lot.  Unless I don't want to live, if I do I have to keep 
going and look ahead!"  Producer Shi Nansun pointed out that BENDS was 
an art film so it had no box office pressure.

* (2013/05/21) The Mainland director Jia Zhangke directed A TOUCH OF SIN 
was the only Chinese film in competition at Cannes and is taking a lead 
so far.  According to yesterday's Cannes Film Festival program, among 
the 20 films in competition, six that have already been screened received 
their grades.  Mainland film A TOUCH OF SIN so far led with 3 stars (out 
of 4 stars), then French film THE PAST with 2.8 stars and Japanese 
director Hirokazu Kore-eda's LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON with 2.5 stars came in 
third.
	A TOUCH OF SIN's leads Jiang Wu and Zhao Tao were very excited 
and hoped to maintain the favorite position until the end.  Jia Zhangke 
was also very relaxed, in Cannes he even attended and supported his 
friends' film premieres; two nights ago he went to the BLIND DETECTIVE 
(MAN TAM) Premiere and exchanged experience with Johnnie To Kei Fung and 
Andy Lau Tak Wa.

* (2013/05/21) CHASING DREAMS: the Teresa Teng superstar memorial concert 
took place two nights ago in Beijing.  Faye Wong, Yu Quan, Jam Hsiao 
(Siu King Tung) and Gary Chaw (Cho Gat) performed in memory of Teresa 
Teng Lai Kwan.  When Faye Wong went on the stage she tripped and almost 
fell.  Luckily she was able to catch herself and flashed an awkward 
smile.  Very quickly she got back into her performance.
	Faye Wong performed 4 songs, BREEZE AND DRIZZLE, QINGPING DIAO, 
PLACE OF FIRST LOVE and ALONE TO THE WEST CHAMBER.  QINGPING DIAO was 
Tang Lai Kwan's final song.  On the stage Tang Lai Kwan's performance 
was played first, then Faye Wong sang with her.  When Faye Wong performed 
ALONE TO THE WEST CHAMBER, she had a sentimental narration with 
subtitles.  "She (Tang Lai Kwan) was the teacher who introduced me to 
music".  Faye Wong sang 4 songs and as usual did not speak at all.

* (2013/05/21) Sam Lee Chan Sam yesterday attended a Fama eyewear store 
opening.  Lee Chan Sam later will work on Fruit Chan Gor's film and 
play a drug addict.  Also in the film will be Simon Yam Tat, Tsui Tin 
Yau and the supposed lead actress Janice Man Wing Shan.  "I need to lose 
weight and grow facial hair.  The temperature is so hot but I still 
insist on wearing suit and tie because I want to sweat it off.  Now I 
have already lost 4 pounds."

* (2013/05/21) Chrissie Chau Sau Na yesterday wore a kimono and attended 
a KFC event.  Tomorrow will be Sister Na's birthday, the event presented 
a giant burger cake to celebrate in advance.  Sister Na was happy and 
surprised to see such a giant burger cake, asked whether it was edible 
and if she could take some home?
	When she worked on the film BAU 3 CHIU GIU WA (EXPLOSIVE 3 
ANGELS) in Malaysia, she injured her right leg during a stunt.  Now she 
needed half a year of physical therapy.  After the injury, did she want 
a companion to take care of her?  She said that she had the care of her 
family and friends.  A shoulder for her to lean on of course would be 
good, but she did not want to force anything.  She wanted to find 
someone suitable as she did not want to hurt anyone.  She said, "My 
family and company have many guys who can lend their shoulders to me."

* (2013/05/20) The 66th Cannes Film Festival is heating up.  The Donnie 
Yen Chi Tan starred giant production ICEMAN 3D (3D BING FUNG HUP) held 
a party on the 17th.  Chi Tan and wife Cissy Wang appeared.  Lead 
actress Eva Huang Shengyi and investor representatives also attended.  
Many film buyers made the trip for a glimpse of the "Strongest in the 
Universe".
	Chi Tan who have publicly expressed his love to his wife many 
times before repeated the deed at the party.  He stated that thanks to 
Cissy taking great care of him behind the scene, he was able to focus on 
his career.  He then leaned on his wife's shoulder.  Speaking of working 
with Huang Shengyi, Chi Tan praised Shengyi's performance.  "Although she 
was only responsible for the emotional scenes and didn't have many action 
scenes, I sensed that Shengyi had a lot of kung fu potential and very 
right for the international action actress route.  Unfortunately this 
time I didn't arrange more action scenes for her!"  Chi Tan felt that 
Shengyi was very professional, even with a high fever she still insisted 
of working.  He was won over.  As for co-star Wang Baoqiang, Chi Tan 
said that he knew he was a Shaolin disciple but during the shoot he did 
not deliberately test him.  Instead they discussed martial act action 
more.  Because Chi Tan's stay was short and had to rush to Monaco for a 
Dior fashion show, he was unable to meet with Carina Lau Ka Ling and 
Tony Leung Chiu Wai in Cannes.
	Shengyi who was training for diving in the Mainland kept sneezing 
during the interview.  She has been sick for over a month.  After 
arriving in Cannes due to constantly walking she suffered from hip pains 
and needed physical therapy.  Speaking of working with Chi Tan, Shengyi 
pointed out that Chi Tan often took care of her and had a gentle and 
attentive side.  She even said that due to visa issues she almost did not 
make the tirp to Cannes.  Luckily she finally was able to.  Shengyi and 
her manage Yang Zi took time to take some photos in Cannes.
	Wang Baoqiang who appeared for two movies in Cannes said that he 
was confident about A TOUCH OF SIN's award chances.  "I hope it will be 
able to win the Palme d'Or grand prize.  (Your kiss with your wife on the 
red carpet was accused of being a spotlight stealing move?)  I don't 
care.  I didn't do it for everyone's attention, I only wanted to give 
something to my wife.  I regret nothing."

* (2013/05/20) Director Yuen Woo Ping and "the Strongest in the Universe" 
Donnie Yen Chi Tan last night around 10PM held a press conference at the 
Cannes Film Festival to announce the sequel to CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN 
DRAGON (NGOR FU CHONG LUNG 2).  Lord Eight originally did not want to 
reveal the content, but when asked if Chi Tan and Michelle Yeoh (Yeung 
Chi King) will play first love, Lord Eight dropped a hint and said, "Of 
course not!  The first draft of the script isn't detailed enough, I want 
to do better.  Right now the script is being changed."  Lord Eight would 
give Chi Tan a lot of freedom in order for Chi Tan to have his biggest 
breakthrough.  "The film company hoped to make a Mandarin version and an 
English version.  For realism, a scene will be shot in two languages, 
which will be quite a challenge for the actors' ability to remember the 
script."
	Chi Tan will work on a classic film's sequel but did not feel 
any pressure.  He only hoped to be able to find a breakthrough to provide 
viewers with a sense of freshness.  Chi Tan who answered in English was 
praised for his high English abilities by the foreign media.

* (2013/05/20) Carina Lau Ka Ling's BENDS (GOR GAI) two nights ago held 
its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.  Once Cannes Best Actor Tony 
Leung Chiu Wai played bodyguard to his wife all night, accompanying Ka 
Ling down the red carpet and giving his wife a queen's arrival.  After 
the premiere, Wai Jai and viewers including director Jia Zhangke who 
deliberately came in support applauded.  Many viewers stood up and 
applauded for 10 minutes.  With both Chinese and foreign film critics 
alike praising Lau Ka Ling's performance, her Cannes Best Actress chances 
heated up.
	Although rain has been falling for days in Cannes, it could not 
stop the guests' enthusiasm.  Lau Ka Ling and Chen Kun were BENDS' leads, 
of course they dressed up for the occasion; Leung Chiu Wai who was used 
to being the lead this time would rather played support and bodyguard to 
his wife Lau Ka Ling.  He stayed by her side and silently supported her.  
Yet on the red carpet how could anyone not see this superstar?  Thus he 
and Lau Ka Ling all became the foci of the camera flash bulbs, making Ka 
Ling's red carpet appearance like a queen's arrival.  The team naturally

	The film's new director Flora Lau Wan Man, producers Shi Nansun 
and Winnie Yu Tseng and one of the investors Hsu Feng flew to Cannes for 
the event.  Everyone placed a lot of importance on this film.  After the 
global premiere two nights ago, everyone stood up and accepted the cheers 
of the audience.  The applause even lasted 10 minutes.  As everyone 
experienced the excitement, they embraced each other.  The scene was both 
joyous and touching.  Although Wai Jai remained in his seat to keep from 
stealing the spotlight, he applauded hard to provide endless support to

	After the screening many Chinese and foreign film reviews 
appeared, most praised Lau Ka Ling's performance in the film as the wife 
or a rich man to be very convincing and had depth.  After the premiere, 
Lau Ka Ling's acting was recognized even more.  Her chances at Best 
Actress heated up again.  With her husband Leung Chiu Wai's lucky 
assistance, would she win Best Actress and receive international 
recognition for her acting?  If she and Wai Jai both won at Cannes, then 
they would become an international Best Actor and Best Actress couple!
	A French national television station reporter said that the film 
had a very meaningful story and reflected the difference between Hong 
Kong and the Mainland.  Its display of Hong Kong was not exaggerated at 
all.  Lau Ka Ling's performance was very detailed and had many emotional 
scenes.  The feeling for Chen Kun as the driver was average.  A German 
broadcast radio film critic praised the film to be very sentimental and 
had depth, from the film viewers could understand a lot about China and 
Hong Kong.  The visuals were beautiful and very persuasive.  A Mainland 
reporter agreed that the characters were more outstanding, the film was 
very smooth including the ending and was expected to win awards.  Yet an 
Italian reporter said that the story of the rich and the poor has been 
seen before and could not completely win over people.
	Lead actor Chen Kun said that before walking the red carpet he 
was very nervous because he has not seen the entire film.  Yet after 
watching it he was very moved!  The director also said before the 
premiere that from planning to production BENDS to her was a long 
journey.  She hoped that viewers would enjoy and liked her film as much 
as she did.

* (2013/05/20) The Andy Lau Tak Wa and Sammi Cheng Sau Man starred BLIND 
DETECTIVE (MAN TAM) will be screened in Cannes, Sammi and director Johnnie 
To Kei Fung have already arrived there.  Lau Tak Wa did not take off 
until two nights ago.
	Wa Jai arrived at the airport around 11PM, around 30 fans came to 
see him off.  Rushing to the gates Wai Jai only answered three questions 
from the media.  Did he know about the shooting and the robbery in 
Cannes?  He said, "I just found out."  Was he worried about his safety?  
He said, "I will be careful."  Wa Jai will stay in Cannes for only two 
days.  When asked how he felt about returning to Cannes, he said, "I 
haven't been there in a long time, I won't know how I will feel until I 
get there."
	Yesterday Lau Tak Wa landed in Cannes and met with the BLIND 
DETECTIVE team.  Wa Jai greeted fans who welcomed him at the airport.  
A pregnant foreign woman actually saw Wa Jai 10 years ago and came 
deliberately to welcome him at the airport.  She hoped to tell her idol 
that she was already married and soon to be a mother. Wa Jai 
congratulated her and posed for pictures.

* (2013/05/20) Sammi Cheng Sau Man arrived in Cannes with the film BLIND 
DETECTIVE (MAN TAM) to participate in the event for the first time.  She 
was both happy and excited, upon her arrival she complimented Cannes to 
be a very pretty town.  Unfortunately rain kept falling and she was 
unable to look around.  Luckily yesterday morning when she got up the 
sun was out, and she felt great as she stared into the sea.
	Sammi wore white for the interview and shot many photos herself 
to share with fans online.  "On the first day in Cannes, I chose to wear 
white more or less to represent mi's state of mind as she steps into such 
a grand scale international film event: experiencing and participating 
with a heart that is as simple as a child's.  Cannes is more romantic 
than I have imaged, mi just finished work.  Before taking off all the 
white I remembered to take this photo for you.  Would you give mi some 
encouragement?  I am not very used to walking the red carpet for tomorrow 
night!  I need strength very, very much."
	For the red carpet, she has watched her diet for days in hopes of 
being at her best shape for the elegant evening wear.  "I chose an 
evening wear out of several dozen, I want to be pretty and comfortable.  
Finally luckily I wore a real deal that made me feel 'it's you!'  As for 
whether it will be sexy, haha, I am not qualified to be sexy!"
	Sammi said to a Mainland media that BLIND DETECTIVE is not as 
bloody, violent and hardcore as the revealed footage.  she and Andy Lau 
Tak Wa had many funny scenes; it also will not be like THE SILENT WAR 
(TING FUNG JEH), the style will be completely different.

* (2013/05/20) Donnie Yen Chi Tan will work on the Yuen Woo Ping 
directed CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON (NGOR FU CHONG LUNG) sequel, but 
when asked about the movie he kept it secret and said that he had no way 
to reveal it now.  He only said that he will play a new character and 
not Chow Yun Fat's.  Each actor has his own unique quality and he hoped 
to have a breakthrough.
	His film ICEMAN 3D (3D BING FUNG HUP) also held a Cannes beach 
event, attracting many famous Hollywood producers to witness his kung fu.  
According to investors, currently overseas distribution has performed 
excellently.  Most of the Southeast Asia and Chinese markets have paid a 
lot of attention, the film's advanced sales have exceeded expectation.  
Yen Chi Tan was praised and he appreciated everyone and his wife Cissy 
Wang's support.  
	He also took time to attend a Dior Spring line press conference 
with his wife in Monaco and sat with Zhang Ziyi.  They watched the models

THE VOICE OF CHINA mentor, Han Hong leaned on his shoulder and gave him 
a kiss on the cheek.  They even shared an apple, not fearing that his 
girlfriend Angelababy would be jealous.
	Huang Xiaoming in the film AMERICAN DREAMS IN CHINA had a first 
kiss and first night scene with model Du Juan.  In the story he visited 
her at the hospital and could not help but force a kiss on Du Juan who 
has been rejecting him.  During the shoot, Huang Xiaoming performed 
wildly.  He said, "Because it needed the sudden result, we didn't 
communicate before the shoot in order to have the most natural reaction."  
As for the first night scene, Huang Xiaoming joked, "I am the one who 
was knocked off instead!"  In the film Du Juan "returned the favor" and 
coolly took away his "first time".

* (2013/05/20) Beyond's Wong Ka Kui passed away for 20 years.  This year 
in order to commemorate this day Wong ka Keung not only wrote a new song 
GREAT for his brother but also started "It's Alright" memorial event.  
He asked for friends who like Beyond and Ka Kui to take a photo of 
"living great" and share it on the official instagram site "tokakui" or 
email to "itsalright2013@gmail.com".  He will collect the photos to 
create images of Ka Kui for his late brother's June 10 birthday.  Ka 
Keung said that although the pain of Ka Kui's passing remained, the 
Beyond spirit was "live more excitingly".  Thus he did not want friends 
who liked Ka Kui to shed any more tear.  He said, "Ka Kui didn't like 
crying, I hope everyone will be like me.  This year we can very happily 
tell Ka Kui, we are great, don't worry!"
	Many friends in the business after finding out about the project 
all took photos.  They included Chow Yun Fat, Faye Wong, Andy Lau Tak 
Wa, Eason Chan Yik Shun, Anthony Wong Yiu Ming, Leo Ku Kui Ke, Dior Cheng 
Yi Kin, the Grasshoppers, Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai), Miriam Yeung Chin

May Day.  Ka Keung remembered when Faye Wong and Beyond worked on the 
film BEYOND'S DIARY (MOK HEI SIU NIN KUNG).  At the time Faye's Cantonese 
was not fluent and the four of them often made fun of her.  Faye was 
very smart and very quickly spoke fluent Cantonese.  She would even 
strike back.  Ka Keung continued, "Although we haven't seen each other 
for a long time, when I sent you message to her to ask her for a photo to 
remember Ka Kui, she very quickly sent two for me to choose.  Thank you 
very much!  If I have a chance, I hope to be able to write another song 
for her."
	Earlier Ka Keung shot his music video.  Singing part of the 
female harmony, his Japanese wife Makiko and their son were on the set 
as well.  They even guest starred in the final shot.  He explained, "I 
want to tell Ka Kui I am great, so I should have footage of my current 
life.  I want to tell him, I am already grown and I am a father.  I am 
very happy!"
	For this year's memorial event, Ka Keung will not only sing to 
Ka Kui but also wrote a letter to him.  In the letter he not only 
mentioned his changes but also apologized to his brother for not being 
able to properly safeguard Beyond.  He admitted that when the three of 
them first decided to break up, he thought that they would just go for 
a little while then return.  They ended up waiting for two years and 
realized that they already had their own world.  Beyond also passed with 
Ka Kui so they no longer had to persist on.  Ka Keung said that now he 
would like the most for every member of Beyond to find his own happy 
life and career.

* (2013/05/19) Aaron Kwok Fu Sing went to Taiwan for two days to promote 
the film CHRISTMAS ROSE (SING DAN MUI GWAI).  Two days ago he attended 
three promotions, after midnight he went to enjoy his favorite spicy hot 
pot casserole in the Tai Ho Dien Restaurant.  A reporter asked if 
Christine Kuo introduced him to Taiwan food, Sing Sing said, "Taiwan food 
is very delicious!"
	Sing Sing yesterday attended a promotion with Charlie Yeung Choi 
Nei and attracted 300 fans.  Reporters suggested for Charlie to play 
matchmaker, Sing Sing immediately said, "I am a workaholic, being able to 
provide everyone with good work makes me the happiest."  Charlie also 
declined being a matchmaker.  "Matchmaking isn't easy, as long as he's

* (2013/05/19) Actors Jacqueline Chong Si Man and Sammy Sum Chun Hin two 
nights ago worked on their film KAU NUI BUT LEI 3 HING DAI.  Perhaps 
because rumored boyfriend and director Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum) was 
"supervising", the "car rocking" scene was not too sexy.
	Chong Si Man revealed that they played a couple in the film.  She 
said, "I asked for this car rocking, I even wore a red bra to seduce 
him."  When asked if Sum Chun Hin had to report to the director first, 
he said, "They should already have communicated.  In addition we are 
professionals.  This time is just a comedy, the scene would be just 
right."

* (2013/05/19) The Carina Lau Ka Ling starred film BENDS (GOR GAI) was 
selected for the Cannes Film Festival Un Regard Certain segment, and her 
husband Tony Leung Chiu Wai tag along to cheer her on.  Ka Ling appeared 
at the A TOUCH OF SIN premiere and on the Cannes Film Festival red 
carpet for the first time this year.  Later she along with Chen Kun and 
director Flora Lau Wan Man attended the BENDS press conference.  However 
she still took time to enjoy the Cannes sunshine and beach.  In a 
cartoon character tee shirt she sat on the beach and looked relaxed.  
She wrote online, "The sunshine after the rain!"  Some asked if Wai Jai 
personally took the photo for her.
	Ka Ling and Chen Kun in BENDS played the wife of a rich man and 
a driver.  Chen Kun even gained weight for the role.  Ka Ling said that 
years ago in DAYS OF BEING WILD (AH FEI JING JUEN) she played a 60s 
dance escort and director Wong Kar Wai asked her to gain weight.  She 
however turned him down.  She said, "Thinking back I don't know why I 
said no.  Now I have the will power to become thin again, I just look at 
my performance."  She has exercised for 18 years, both physically and 
mentally she was at the best shape of her life.  She said, "I used to 
have two guardians, persistence and tolerance.  They are now retired and 
in their place are compassion and forgiveness, I used these attitudes 
with work and friends."
	Earlier she dined with ang Lee.  She said that Wai Jai and Ang 
Lee worked together on LUST, CAUTION (SIK, GAI) to create another 
milestone in their performance careers.  She lamented that Ang Lee 
actually was able to make Wai Jai as "street crossing rat" and enabled 
Wai Jai who longed for a breakthrough at the time to finally create a 
classic.  Although they have not worked together again, Ka Ling felt 
that it depended on fate.  She did not feel Wai Jai was tortured when he 
performed Ang Lee's film.  "I felt he rather enjoyed it,  I would be able 
to too, I have a lot of endurance."
	She performed BENDS' end credit song.  Who sang better between 
her and Wai Jai?  She analyzed, "Technically I am good, but emotionally 
he would be better.  You see his Putonghua isn't fluent either and would 
be off key, but when he sang he had a lot of flavor."
	A TOUCH OF SIN lead actor Wang Baoqiang made a strong showing.  
He not only appeared with his wife but also expressed his love to her on 
one knee from multiple angles as the media's demanded.  They also kissed 
many times.  Finally under the urging of security he finally reluctantly 
dragged his wife and left.  Some said that his performance in comparison 
to the film was the real "China style explosion".
	A TOUCH OF SIN director Jia Zhangke at the press conference 
responded to the film inspection question that everyone was concerned 
about.  He said, "The film has already passed inspection and received a 
release permit, hopefully it will be released in the Mainland in the fall 
this year."  Would inspection standards affect creative freedom?  He 
said, "The inspection passed very smoothly.  I didn't study why it was 
so smooth, but one of the motivation was that I had no fear inside."  
Since it involved social violence, would it truly be released?  "I hope 
through this film even to have more viewers in China, because what I am 
talking about is the violence that all Chinese experience in public 
space.  If our society wants to avoid violence and escape from personal 
tragedy, first we have to learn to understand evil and violence in art 
and not avoid it."

* (2013/05/19) Sammi Cheng Sau Man two nights ago headed to Cannes with 
Johnnie To Kei Fung and arrived yesterday.  Sammi was shocked to learn 
about all the recent crimes, but was not too worried because many company 
co-workers went along and would take the full safety precautions.  She 
hoped that everyone would be safe.
	Due to seating issue, Sammi had to transfer from London while To 
Kei Fung flew to Germany for his.  She arrived at the Hong Kong airport 
around 10:45PM without make up, a dozen or so fans came to see her off.  
Speaking of Carina Lau Ka Ling being there, she said, "Really?  I don't 
know but I too want to see her.  I wish Ka Ling luck.  (Did you know that 
she sang the theme song?)  I know, she sang very well."  As for Tony 
Leung Chiu Wai cheering Ka Ling on in Cannes, she was asked why her 
boyfriend Andy Hui Chi On did not tag along?  Sammi laughed but did not 
answer.  She revealed that she will stay for two and a half days but 
probably will not have time to look around.
	To Kei Fung said that BLIND DETECTIVE (MAN TAM) will not be in 
competition so he was more relaxed on this trip.  He will stay for 3 
days, catch up and dine with friends.  Some said that the midnight 
screenings often would allow viewers to scream.  To Kei Fung said that 
foreign filmmakers were very thoughtful so the film festival had no time 
difference.  However he admitted that movies that were screened at 
midnight usually would have pleasant surprises.  He said, "This is a very 
(Andy) Lau Tak Wa and Cheng Sau Man movie, having a reaction of course 
would be good."

* (2013/05/19) Zhang Ziyi is a member of the Cannes Film Festival Un 
Certain Regard jury.  While in Cannes she took the chance to enjoy work 
of different directors.  Yesterday she enjoyed Jia Zhangke's film in 
competition, A TOUCH OF SIN.  Afterward she had nothing but praise 
online.  "Not apt at metaphors, Jia Zhangke made an achievement with A 
TOUCH OF SIN.  A group of little people who we have turned a blind eye to 
emerged in the great era.  Thank you Jia Zhangke for displaying film's 
alternative power!"
	She also said, "Today is the third day of the Cannes Film 
Festival, so far I have watched 6 films, followed 6 directors through 6 
different life experience and experienced the heaven, earth and human 
nature behind the 6 stories.  All the styles are different, the rewards 
are different."

* (2013/05/19) Eva Huang Shengyi, Donnie Yen Chi Tan and Wang Baoqiang 
promoted their film ICEMAN 3D (3D BING FUNG HUP) at the Cannes Film 
Festival.  Yen Chi Tan praised Huang Shengyi's professionalism, citing 
that despite her illness from her diving program participation she still 
commuted between Beijing and Hong Kong for the shoot without any 
complaint at all.  He hoped to have another chance to play a couple 
again with her, which surprised Huang Shengyi.
	Huang Shengyi said that when she first rehearsed with Yen Chi Tan 
she was very nervous because his image was very tough.  However he 
actually was very attentive and took great care of others.  In one scene 
he picked her up and carried her into a room, he subconsciously blocked 
the door for her to keep it from hitting her.  She was complimented for 
her action actress potential and immediately said action director Yen Chi 
Tan, "Please design more action for me!"

* (2013/05/19) Chan Suk Fun yesterday led over 200 Gor fans to pay 
respect to Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing in Po Fook Shan and held a private 
event in the zen hall.  Gor fans bought fresh flowers to Gor Gor's 
tablet and gave three bows to show thei respect.  They also cremated the 
1,956,912 origami cranes that broke the Guinness World record.
	Mrs. Chan said to Gor fans, "I am very happy that everyone came.  
I know that many Gor fans couldn't buy the concert mementos, but I truly 
have no intention of releasing new supply.  Today I produced a special 
notebook that everyone could get for free."  The notebook not only had 
the March 31 and April 1 Hong Kong Coliseum memorial concert highlight 
but also a letter from Daffy Tong Hok Tak and Mrs. Chan to Gor fans.  The 
letter was similar to what they said at the concerts.  Many Gor fans were 
very excited to receive the notebook and repeatedly thanked Mrs. Chan.
	Mrs. Chan said that she only planned to give the notebooks to 
the workers of the memorial events, in particular was Gor Gor's autograph 
was on it.  She said, "After the cremation of the origami cranes today,

CHRISTMAS ROSE (SING DAN MUI GWAI) in Taiwan and praised Taiwan girls 
for being smart.  "Taiwan girls have a lot of potential, with a lot of 
stuff in (their heads)."  Would Kwok Fu Sing like to be a Taiwan son in 
law?  He joked, "This question is great, save it for next time."  Sing 
Sing in the film had a crying scene, has he cried recently?  Sing Sing 
who just broke up said, "Crying so sadly, that's crazy.  People would 
think I have a personality split."

* (2013/05/18) The film WINTER IS HOPED with Chinese, Hong Kong and 
Korean actors released its Cannes trailer with a mix of stories and 
Chinese, English and Korean.  In it the Wylie Chiu Shek Chi and Victor 
Chen Si Hong's love story was the most fast paced.  They had many 
intimate scenes.  In another scene they cursed at each others.  Chen Si 
Hong not only slapped her but also cursed.  He even "busted a cup".  
Finally Shek Chi stabbed herself on the streets of Mongkok.
	In addition, WINTER suddenly had a fully naked man on camera and 
a naked actress on her side.  Director Ray Woo Wai Sing revealed that 
Shek Chi and Si Hong's first scene was an intimate scene, so awkwardness 
was inevitable.  The foul language was added on the spot.  They kept 
practicing before hand so they had no bad take.

* (2013/05/18) Fan Bingbing earlier attended the film SKIPTRACE (JUET DEI 
TOH MONG) promotion with Jackie Chan as they passionately embraced.  
Jackie Chan after hugging Fan Bingbing screamed jokingly, "She forced the 
hug on me."  Fan Bingbing was asked if she will participate in any action 
scene.  She said, "I will have fight scenes, when Big Brother Jackie Chan 
wants me to fight I fight.  Big Brother even wants me to fight him."
	Jackie Chan, Fan Bingbing and director Sam Fell yesterday 
attended their film SKIPTRACE's press conference.  In 6 inch high heels 
Bingbing once lost her balance and Jackie Chan gave her a hand.  Due to 
the strong wind, Jackie Chan also helped with Bingbing's dress.  In the 
new film will they have any romantic scene?  Jackie Chan smiled and said,

	The new film's budget will be US$35 million and will shoot on

LUST, CAUTION rarely saw each other, this time they had a rare chance to 
catch up overseas.  Wai Jai expressed hope to work with Ang Lee again.
	Wai Jai and Lau Ka Ling after arriving in Cannes caught up with 
friends there before walking the red carpet.  Aside from the Oscar

* (2013/05/18) The film CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON (NGOR FU CHONG 
LUNG) sequel has been confirmed to start production in March 2014.  The 
Ang Lee directed, Chow Yun Fat, Michelle Yeoh (Yeung Chi King), Chang 
Chen and Zhang Ziyi started 2000 film CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON won 
4 Oscars including Best Foreign Film.  Weinstein Co. yesterday announced 
that next year its sequel will start production.  The director will not 
be Ang Lee but famous action director Yuen Woo Ping, only Yeung Chi King 
remained from the original cast and the lead actor will be Donnie Yen Chi 
Tan.
	Harvey Weinstein said in the statement that he liked Ang Lee's 
movies very much but believed that the sequel will be just as outstanding 
in the hands of Yuen Woo Ping.  CROUCHING TIGER sequel will be based on 
the Wang Dulu's CRANE IRON SERIES' final book IRON KNIGHT, SILVER VASE.  
The story will mainly be about Yu Jiao Long's and Luo Xiaohu's 
descendant.  Yeung Chi King in CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAOGN played Yu 
Shu Lien and will continue to play the character in the sequel.  Yen Chi 
Tan's character has not been revealed yet.  Yuen Woo Ping, Yen Chi Tan 
and the company will announce the details of the film at a Cannes Film 
Festival press conference today.
	CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON made US$128 million at the North 
American box office and US$213 million globally to become the highest 
grossing foreign film in North American film history.

* (2013/05/18) Arriving in Cannes two nights ago, Donnie Yen Chi Tan and 
his wife Cissy Wang will stay there for 3 days but will have too much 
time just for the two of them due to the tight schedule.  As soon as they 
arrived they had dinner with investors.  The next morning, Yen Chi Tan 
had bread during make up then rushed over to ICEMAN 3D (3D BING FUNG HUP) 
press conference.  Luckily the press conference took place by the beach, 
he and his wife after arriving took the time for a walk on the beach.
	Yen Chi Tan said, "The weather is great, unfortunately I don't 
have time to enjoy the sun and the beach with my wife.  My wife and I 
were prepared to spend these 3 days at work, after that I have to rush 
back to Hong Kong for ICEMAN 3D and can't stay for a day or two more.  
What a shame!"  He was very happy to learn that ICEMAN 3D has 
successfully been sold to India, Singapore, the Middle East, Malaysia, 
Indonesia and other places, exceeding CZ12 (12 SUN CHIU)'s overseas 
distribution.  Chi Tan in the two film teasers displayed his skills, 
climbing a light post with his bare hands and dangerously standing on top 
of a high speed bus.  Their Changbai Mountain snow scenes were also 
beautiful and touching.  The film will shoot in two parts.
	Yen Chi Tan, Mainland actors Eva Huang Shengyi and Wang Baoqiang 
yesterday attended the ICEMAN 3D press conference.  They were very 
excited as many posters and teasers were displayed.
	Chi Tan said, "This time I am staying in Cannes for 3 days, it's 
the shortest time.  Cissy later will take her parents to England, I want 
to go so bad!  However I have to go back and finish the movie.  I didn't 
even tell the kids that I was going to Cannes.  I only called them after 
we arrived and they complained.  Earlier on the flight I ran into Leung 
Chiu Wai and Lau Ka Ling and I treated it like we caught up.  In Cannes 
I am promoting four movies.  I am very happy that ICEMAN 3D had time 
travel and shot on location in the Changbai Mountain, which made it very 
different from my movies before.  Yen Chi Tan doesn't repeat his old 
paths, he would make breakthroughs and something fresh."
	Huang Shengyi said, "I play a bartender who would swindle for 
money but is a good person inside.  In the film I have to ride a 
motorcycle, but I don't have a license.  I thank Chi Tan for his 
guidance.  This is my first time in Cannes, it's very cold but I am very 
happy."
	Wang Baoqiang also praised Chi Tan, "I am a Yen Chi Tan fan.  
When he makes a movie, then I do too.  He has helped me with a lot.  
After my first fight scene I was already hooked."  After the press 
conference, Wang Baoqiang rushed to promote his new Jia Zhangke film A 
TOUCH OF SIN.

* (2013/05/18) The Jia Zhangke directed A TOUCH OF SIN was selected for 
the 66th Cannes Film Festival as the Mainland's only film in competition.  
Two days ago it premiered in Cannes, the audience and the media's 
opinions of the film were polarized.  Some said that modern China under 
the cameras of Jia Zhangke was shocking and praised his courage; some 
said that the film was too long and too bloody and violent to watch.
	A TOUCH OF SIN's story connected four Mainland news items, its 
massive amount of violent and bloody scenes was rare among Mainland 
films.  Jia Zhangkei's earlier film STILL LIFE was "China in transition".  
Some described his new film A TOUCH OF SIN as "China style explosion", 
the murder and suicide scenes made an impact as a direct depiction of 
social reality.
	In the film were bloody news stories that happened to civilians.  
Jiang Wu blew away an account's head with a shotgun, Wang Baoqiang robs 
and kills, and the female lead Zhao Tao's blood murder scene left deep 
impression with the audience.  A TOUCH OF SIN even touched on sensitive 
subjects like the Foxconn sweatshop and Wenzhou train crash.  Even when 
foreign viewers saw the worker suicide they could easily make the 
connection to the Foxconn incident.
	After A TOUCH OF SIN's Cannes media screening, some reporters 
questioned whether the film would be able to pass Mainland inspection due 
to its massive amount of violence and sensitive subjects; in addition the 
film did not have a "dragon seal" (Chinese films in overseas film 
festival competitions all have "dragon seal" to indicate passing 
inspection and in competition without any violation).  They were 
suspicious that A TOUCH OF SIN has not passed inspection and worried that 
Jia Zhangkei competed in violation of Mainland rules.  However, the 
authorities have said that the film has already passed inspection and 
received a permit.  Because Jia Zhangke was still editing a day or two 
before the film festival, the "dragon seal" was not placed in time.

* (2013/05/18) Miriam Yeung Chin Wa injured her leg while attending a 
Mainland event and is still recovering.  Two nights ago she wore 4 inch 
nickel heels to a new store opening event.  As others carefully helped 
her to the venue, she turned into a visiting "empress"; she said that 
she was recovering, as long as she was not running and jumping around she 
was fine.  She also laughed and said that her husband Real Ting Chi Ko 
has scolded her before.  "He yelled at me for dressing too casually 
normally and asked me to dress up a little before going out.  Thus in 
according to his request, I prepared a pile of clothes that I can wear

	Best Actress Chin Wa said that this year she has already accepted 
3 films, two of which may go into production at any time.  She worried 
that her performance would be affected and hoped to be able to make time.

* (2013/05/18) Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam)'s 7 year 
relationship ends.  Outsiders speculate that due to Christine Kuo's 
appearance and Lynn forcing the marriage issue, the 47 year old Sing Sing 
decided to make the break.  Sing Sing and his friend Charlie Yeung Choi 
Nei is promoting their film CHRISTMAS ROSE (SING DAN MUI GWAI).  Sing 
Sing revealed that he had a marriage disorder.  He just liked to play

R: Sing Sing, you have said that you learned to handle relationships from 
Charlie's debut (as a director), what did you learn?

A: In the film my relationship with my father is very complicated, I 
learned to let go and not to be stubborn; when I didn't win the Hong Kong 
Film Award I wouldn't be stubborn, I wouldn't force anything in love.  
Before starting a family I have to think clearly.  Because I have to 
spend the rest of my life with the other half, we have to spend a long 
time together.  If we have any problem I have to give up; I also hope 
that she will have a good future and happiness, which is a display of 
maturity.  For example when you wear high heels that are a size too 
small, would she still wear them if you are bloodied and bruised?  If it 
isn't right, you should think of a way to find suitable shoes and not 
keeping wearing it even though you are bloodied and bruised.

Enjoy Playing But Never Screwing Around
R: Since you love film so much, does your future companion have to love 
film too?
A: Not necessarily, that depends on fate.  I feel that when someone is 
independent, he would work without any care and would find another even 
greater return.  Work is the best companion.  I feel I have a marriage 
disorder, otherwise why would I be 47 and still not married?  I am after 
perfection, I would spend time on work.  I like to play, but that doesn't 
mean that I screw around.  I am after dreams and like to be with friends.  
Family doesn't represent everything.  I have friends who have children 
and love their families but still end up in divorce.  Why is marriage so 
fragile?

Of Course He Would not Dump Lynn Xiong
R: You don't dare to get married, are you afraid that it would fail?
A: Maybe I have failed before and constantly.  Before I was always 
dumped, many people couldn't take me.  With most of them I wasn't the 
one who did the dumping, I am not talking about this time!  Everyone can 
guess what happened from the reports.
R: Yet the reports say you dumped Hung Doi Lam?
A: Would you guess I would be like that?  Of course I wouldn't!  However 
let's not say too much, I don't want to hurt her; anyone who understand 
Sing Sing would know.  Everyone thinks that I am playing around, actually 
all you have to do is take a look at what attitude I have toward work you 
would know what kind of person I am!

No Chance After Breaking Up
R: Would this relationship have any change to be turned around?
A: It wouldn't!
R: After the break up you continue to be active, are you really as 
outsider says, no pain from the break up?
A: Actually when I am by myself, I am very lost.  So I can't let myself 
stop.  However I wouldn't cry.  Many years ago I told myself, I would 
only cry on screen!
R: Does Yeung Choi Nei know about Sing Sing's relationships?
C: Sing Sing and I are very familiar, but normally we wouldn't talk about 
relationships.  I wouldn't even ask.

Yeung Choi Nei Denies Show Business Retirement
R: You have been rumored to wed and retire from show business after 
this film fulfills your director dream?
C: I don't know why this report would come about.  Next month I even 
accepted a movie role, even I don't know about marriage and parenthood 
plans.  Let it take its natural course!  However I would pay attention to 
life, I wouldn't keep myself from getting married to make movies.  
Creating this movie is like giving birth, writing a script, production, 
post production took 4 years.  At first I wanted to be a screen writer 
and write a human nature story.  I am very interested in court and sexual 
assault is a social problem that is very controversial, so I designed 
it.  Originally I wanted Tsui Hark to make it for me, he told me to 
direct it myself.  When I put it in practice I had to pass many tests, 
it's like applying for the university.

R: With the court scenes in the film, your boyfriend Shiu Wan Chi was a 
lawyer before .  When you wrote the script did you approach him for 
material?

C: My team has a lawyer, but the last name isn't Shiu.  He still hasn't 
had the chance to watch this film.

* (2013/05/18) Donnie Yen Chi Tan, Wang Baoqiang, Charlie Yeung Choi Nei 
and Bai Bing will star in the film YUT GOR YUN DIK MO LUM (THE MARTIAL 
ART WORLD OF ONE PERSON) will start production at the end of the month 
and shoot mainly in Hong Kong and Foshan with production budget of HK$190 
million.  The story will be about police martial art coach Yen Chi Tan 
who accidentally kills someone over a personal issue and finally is 
sentenced to prison.  In order to regain his freedom, he assists the 
police in capturing the Wang Baoqiang played serial killer.  Years ago he 
has worked with Wang Baoqiang before.  Chi Tan praised that he has 
improved a lot and his acting has reached another level.

* (2013/05/17) Jackie Chan and Fan Bingbing yesterday attended their new 
film SKIPTRACE's welcome party on a yacht in Cannes.  When Jackie Chan 
arrived, the rain suddenly stopped and the sun came out.  Jackie Chan 
was in an even better mood.  After 2 hours, Bingbing appeared in 5 inch 
high heels.  The crew pointed out that Bingbing just finished working and 
rushed over.  Jackie Chan welcomed her on the deck and mischievously 
said that he wanted to hug Bingbing as a welcome, but was afraid of 
rumors.  Bingbing smiled and gave a hug to Jackie Chan.  Jackie Chan 
joked, "You are the one who is hugging me!"  Later they and the film's 
foreign director Sam Fell posed for photos.  They even spread their arms

OF ONE PERSON).  In the film Yen Chi Tan would assist Inspector Charlie 
Yeung Choi Nei to resolve a case.  As for the film will be a salute to 
a group of action film colleagues and elders, Chan Tak Sum said, "I am 
very appreciative of support from a group of action directors like 
(Stanley) Tong Kwai Lai, (Stephen) Tung Wai, (Dion) Lam Dik On, Xiong 
Xinxin, Yuen Cheung Yan, Yuen Bun, Lee Chung Chi and Yen Chi Tan.  All I 
did was asked and they all provided valuable suggestions."  He said that 
Hong Kong action films over the years have occupied a very important 
place in the world.  He hoped through this film to invite a group of 
action film elders to perform and salute them.  Reportedly, the film will 
contain suspense, police, kung fu and romantic elements.
	As for getting Yen Chi Tan to perform, Chan Tak Sum said, 
"Originally he had a film scheduled, but the film didn't have a story 
yet.  When I learned about his free time I talked to him about the 
script.  After hearing he was very interested so he took it."  As for 
the friendly price tag, Yen Chi Tan's spokesperson said, "Chi Tan and 
Chan Tak Sum are good friends, of course they have room to negotiate.  
However the salary amount is a business secret, we are not at liberty to 
reveal it."  Chan Tak Sum planned to raise fund with the film's 
premiere and call everyone's attention to safeguard the action film

* (2013/05/17) Carina Lau Ka Ling two nights ago with her husband Tony 
Leung Chiu Wai flew to attend the Cannes Film Festival.  They will attend 
Ka Ling's BENDS (GOR GAI) premiere and red carpet ceremony, where Wai Jai 
will cheer on Ka Ling in the Un Certain Regard segment.
	Yesterday they arrived.  Wai Jai looked tired but the couple 
maintained their smiles.  Winning Cannes Best Actor in 2000 with IN THE 
MOOD FOR LOVE (FA YEUNG NIN WA), Wai Jai was asked whether his wife had a 
chance to win Best Actress.  He immediately, "Of course I am confident."  
Ka Ling joked, "Don't force him to say that!"  Actually Wai Jai has not 
seen BENDS yet and will watch it for the first time in Cannes.  At the 
same time he just found out that she would sing the film theme song.  Ka 
Ling said that originally she wanted to surprise him but the media busted 
her.  Reporters wished her luck with Best Actress and she happily said, 
"Hopefully it will be just like you said!  However this time the

* (2013/05/17) The Johnnie To Kei Fung directed new film BLIND DETECTIVE 
(MAN TAM) has been selected to participate in the Cannes Film festival.  
He along with leads Andy Lau Tak Wa and Sammi Cheng Sau Man headed to 
Cannes for its premier and red carpet ceremony.  Cheng Sau Man was 
excited as she never imagined that an exploratory film that is full of 
Hong Kong colors like BLIND DETECTIVE would be able to take place in 
Cannes.  Although she did not feel at ease on the red carpet, she would 
respect the event arrangement and cautiously choose her clothes.
	Because her work was tightly scheduled, tonight after work she 
will immediately fly with To Kei Fung.  Yet due to seat issues she will 
first fly to London while To Kei Fung will fly to Germany.  Andy Lau Tak 
Wa also due to work will not be able to leave until tomorrow night.  He 
will leave in Cannes on the 19th then work nonstop for two days and

* (2013/05/17) During the Cannes Film Festival last year, John Woo (Ng Yu 
Sum) was rumored to remake Japanese director Seijun Suzuki's YOUTH OF THE 
BEAST.  This year the Ng Yu Sum directed romance THE CROSSING yesterday 
unveiled its first concept poster.  The film will be about how three 
couples from different backgrounds under the rush of recent Chinese 
history spent 50 years and found happiness.
	The Mainland media once described the film as LOVE AND LET LOVE 
(SUN SEI LUEN or TAI PING LUN).  The film company revealed that currently 
no official Chinese title has been set.  For now it only knew the the 
leads will include THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI)'s Zhang Ziyi and 
Song Hye-Kyo.  No lead actor has been confirmed.

* (2013/05/17) Charlie Yeung Choi Nei's directing debut, CHRISTMAS ROSE 
(SING DAN MUI GWAI), two nights ago held a premiere.  Aside from actors 
Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Xia Yu, Chang Chen and Kwai Lun-Mei, Charlie's 
close friends Karen Mok Man Wai, Angelica Lee Sinjie and Gigi Leung Wing 
Kei also showed their support.  However, Mok Man Wai soon after arriving 
already stated that she had to leave.  She stressed that she was not 
dodging old flame Stephen Fung Tak Lun.  "Of course not!  I haven't seen 
him either.  Actually I have to catch a plane back to England.  Tonight 
everyone is supporting Charlie.  We are friends and I won't feel 
awkward anyway."
	Charlie admitted that she was very happy to have the support of 
so many friends, of course she also would like a good box office

arrived in Cannes as a member of the Un Certain Regard segment jury; red

was shot on location in Hong Kong, Thailand and Macau and will complete 
production in June.  The film's first trailer and poster have been 
unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival.  In the poster Lau Ching Wan 
displayed his masculine charm and was described as Morgan Freeman of the 
East.  The other two leads Nick Cheung Ka Fai and Louis Koo Tin Lok were 
oozing drama as well.  Chan Muk Sing described the trio's rehearsal felt 
like one with Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, with A BETTER TOMORROW 
flavor and Quentin Tarantino tone.  They created an unexpected chemical

THE BERLIN FILE IS PACKED WITH STORY

	As for the Korean film THE BERLIN FILE, SWIRI star Han Suk-Kyu
again played a South Korean special agent.  This time he ran to Berlin 
and battled with North Koean special agent couple Ha Jung-Woo and Gianna 
Jun Ji-Hyun.  Ten years ago SWIRI brought the "Korean fever".  The new 
film not only reached Europe but also strengthened technology and action.  
Director Ryoo Seung-Wan achieved a very strong sense of movement as the 
visuals flew and danced.  The film also used many foreigners.  The story 
was rather ample and intriguing, its professional quality was better than 
similar Chinese films.  However, the "Korean fever" has already lost its 
freshness.  This time the draw could not compare to SWIRI, so exaggerated 
that it was like Gu Long wu xia.  Han Suk-Hyu also lost luster.  The 
leads actually were the North Korean couple on the run.  Ha Jung-Woo's 
performance was particularly cold and passionate as he won the latest

A CHORUS OF ANGELS Has A Touching Story
	Veteran Japanese Best Actress Sayuri Yoshinaga starred A CHORUS 
OF ANGELS is better than veteran Best Actor Ken Takakura's latest film.  
This film depicts a mystery in a Hokkaido country village elementary 
school and 20 years after.  Director Junji Sakamoto's style was 
conservative and lacked spirit, but the story and the actors were 
touching.  The elementary school chorus got the music going and even 
made people shed tears.  Both adapted from Kanae Minato novels, this 
film was not as shocking as CONFESSIONS.  It was more like PENANCE but 
more heart warming and good hearted. (two and a half out of five stars)

CHARLIE YEUNG RUNS INTO BENEFACTORS ON THE PATH OF DIRECTING

	Over the years with her pristine image, Charlie Yeung Choi Nei 
joined the business in an era without any "goddess" title yet.  Thus she 
could only become a jade girl.  However justice in the hearts of the 
people.  Earlier when she promoted her directing debut CHRISTMAS ROSE 
(SING DAN MUI GWAI), after the interview she became a group of male 
reporters' stamp collection target as they fought for a photo with her.  
Looks came from the heart, which had a lot to do with her luck with 
people.  In her new film she called in favors to fill the on and off 
screen roles, Golden Horse Best Actor Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Best Actress 
Kwai Lun-Mei, even the Hong Kong Film Award director Tsui Hark spared no 
effort and produced for her. - Man Kwok Chun
	From a model to an actress, and now to a director, Yeung Choi Nei 
kept changing her identity in show business.  She admitted that she never 
worried about not being able to adapt, only because she believed in the 
right person could get it done.  Speaking of the idea of making CHRISTMAS 
ROSE, she said that she never had a dream to direct.  Everything was by 
chance.
	Yeung Choi Nei said, "Actually I have always written books and 
columns as bridges to communicate with others.  In 2008 I originally 
wanted to write a new book about human nature, then I thought I might as 
well try to express it with film image because when I watched movies I 
could easily be affected.  At that time I officially began to write the 
script."  She then gave the script to friends Tsui Hark, Jacob Cheung Chi 
Leung, Oxide Pang Shun and other directors to read.  Tsui Hark and Cheung 
Chi Leung even suggested for her to direct, thus officially beginning 
Charlie's road to directing. 

Working Hard To Adapt The Script
	Although she had help from famous directors, Charlie did not 
speed into production through the short cut.  Instead in order to 
experience the road of the average new director, she mustered up the 
courage and submitted the script to the Hong Kong Asian Film Financing 
Forum project.  She explained the script in front of filmmakers around 
the world and answered their questions.  Charlie said, "That time was a 
great warm up for me, because many filmmakers continuously asked me 
questions about the script.  Their questions were very in depth so I 
gained something myself; I was able to improve the script as I went 
along.  Then at the end of the year two years ago, I finally felt the 
script was perfect and the time has come to go into production."
	Yet film often did not start production at your say so.  Without 
any investor everything was just talk.  Charlie was very grateful that 
Bona Film Group chief Yu Dong took the initiative to help.  She said, "Yu 
Dong is a great person.  I ran into him at an event, he said that he 
heard I was working on a script.  After I told him about it, he said that 
he might as well invest.  It was just that fast, I really thank him very 
much."

Student Hands In Homework
	As for her directing debut, Charlie admitted that post production 
almost stumped her.  Luckily she had assistance from Tsui Hark and Cheung 
Chi Leung all along the way.  She said, "It was the first time that I 
was working behind the cameras.  Actually camera operations didn't have 
too many problems, as normally as an actress I would see what the 
directors were doing.  Post production on the other hand truly stumped 
me.  Actually every step could be very complicated.  Luckily I had two 
great producers to help and teach me along the way.  They kept a very 
close eye on everything, from script to post production I was like a 
student handing in homework to the teacher.  I waited for their 
evaluation, often it got sent back and I had to do it all over again.  
However when they gave it a passing grade, I would be very happy.  I 
could describe it like I was so happy that I broke into a dance."
	Speaking of the strong cast of CHRISTMAS that included Kwok Fu 
Sing, Golden Horse Best Actress Kwai Lun-Mei, as well as Chang Chen and 
Liu Kai Chi both of whose acting have been recognized, did Charlie call 
in all her favors?  She said, "You can say that.  Because I never know if 
I would have another chance to director again, I wanted this time to be 
the best.  I found a group of actors who Tsui Hark, Cheung Chi Leung and 
I felt was the most suitable, the most important was that I knew they 
were full of passion for film.  I never thought about if they were Best 
Actor or Best Actress winners."
	Charlie also revealed that the cast and the crew had great 
cohesion, for example in Kwai Lun-Mei's crying scene, during the shoot 
the team actually cried along with Siu Mei.  Charlie said, "So this 
production truly was very pleasant.  As a first time director I wouldn't 
grade myself, but I have already done all I could and I was able to 
achieve what I told myself before the production -- to cease the day and 
enjoy everyday of the production. 

Aaron Kwok: Music Cannot Satisfy Me
	Kwok Fu Sing put a lot of effort into promoting his film 
CHRISTMAS ROSE.  He admitted that he and director Yeung Choi Nei could be 
described as growing up together.  He said, "Although we don't see each 
other every year at work, we were there for each other's important 
milestones after joining the business.  For example I won Best Actor 
with a movie wit her AFTER THIS OUR EXILE (FU JI).  The commercial that 
she got into the business with was with me.  Privately we are great 
friends, so this time we have great chemistry during this production."

Places Less Importance on Nominations
	Sing Sing admitted that friendship was the reason that he took 
the role.  "Actually when we didn't even have a script, Charlie said that 
she wanted to write one and I already told her that I would support her 
infinitely.  In the end I really liked the script."  Speaking of being 
in both movies and music for years, Sing Sing said that in the recent 
decade he focused more on film.  Now he is in the acting maturation age.  
He said, "I feel now my acting, in terms of intelligence and thinking, is 
at its most mature stage.  Actually in 2000 I already thought about 
concentrating on film, because at the time I felt the musical stage was 
no longer able to satisfy me.  The film stage was able to provide me with 
ample space to demonstrate my creativity."
	Earlier at the Hong Kong Film Awards, Sing Sing did not even have 
a nomination.  He admitted that he was disappointed for a moment, but he 
was not considered very upset.  He said, "Actually earlier with LIFE IS A 
MIRACLE (JUI OI), I put in even more effort into submerging into the 
character and understanding hte script, but in the end it had no 
nomination or response in Hong Kong and Taiwan.  I only got a nomination 
in the Mainland Golden Rooster Award, from that moment on I already put 
less importance on award nominations."

  The young Dee Renjie arrives in the Imperial Capital, intent to become

  culprit's DNA not in the system or is the system malfunctioning?  This

  murdered, the last person they saw was Ryuhei Kagura.  The murder
