However after seeing the Chow Kit Lun directed THE ROOFTOP trailer he felt that he finally found a successor. * (2013/04/24) In comparison to Lynn Xiong's down look, Aaron Kwok Fu Sing after the break up has been attending events nonstop. After stating earlier that "liking someone doesn't guarantee growing old together", Sing Sing yesterday while promoting his new film CONSPIRATORS (TUNG MAU) again talked about his break up. He declined to respond whether Hung Doi Lam hooked up with a wealthy tycoon but admitted that outsiders would not understand what happened between them. They could not only treat what they heard like they witnessed it. Sing Sing said, "Every person's decision has a reason, I have neither hated nor blamed." Sing Sing felt that the break up might not have to be bad. "Don't force anything, change the angle and give a blessing. Feeling better after an attack? This isn't how to live." Was he hinting that online fans should not blindly attack him? Sing Sing also said that he was studying Buddhism so everything would be best faced and handled calmly. Sing Sing recently began to promote another new film CHRISTMAS ROSE (SING DAN MUI GWAI). He admitted that making his film made him understand how to handle relationships. * (2013/04/23) After the concert to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing's passing, this year will also be the 5th anniversary of Lydia Shum Din Ha's passing. Her friends Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Liza Wang Ming Chuen, Jacky Cheung Hok Yau and others in order to express not only their infinite remembrance of her but also the need for Fei Jeh's laughter and positive energy to ease the numerous natural and man made disasters recently. In the other part Fei Jeh's daughter Joyce Cheng Yun Yi will perform to fulfilled Fei Jeh's dream of her daughter to perform on the Hong Kong Coliseum stage. However the performance will not last longer than half a hour. In addition, guests who will perform with Yun Yi are being negotiated. Yesterday the concert planner Mr. Tse said, "Fei Jeh's show will have more stars than Gor Gor's. A press conference will be held on the 29th. Hok Yau, Chi Wai, Wang Ming Cheun will attend." Will Fei Jeh's former husband Adam Cheng Siu Chau be invited to be a guest performer? He said, "We haven't thought about it, and no one suggested it. The goal of the show is to remember Fei Jeh. If Chau Guoon buys a ticket himself to watch, we welcome him." As for the concert profit, Mr. Tse said that they never thought about making money because due to the rough estimate even with a sold out show the event would still lose over HK$20,000. Thus they could only save on the production cost. he also thanked most of the superstars for performing without any salary. Chi Wai will donate any amount left to charity. * (2013/04/23) The Donnie Yen Chi Tan starred THE ICEMAN COMETH 3D (3D BING FUNG HUP) shot on location on the Changbai Mountain in Mainland and received Mainland authority assistance as the national class 5A tourist attractive Changbai Mountain western region was shut down. On the 1600 meters above sea level, 500 extras and 50 horses shot on the mountain at the icy and snowy 18 degrees Celsius below zero temperature. The shoot mainly shot large scale costume scenes. The always sexy goddess Chung Lai Tai faced Lui Yan's Mainland outstanding figure, who would win? Chung Lai Tai joked, "Her acting is very professional and her figure is very even. She is very attractive, I believe male viewers of the film will definitely have a great time. In the film my personality is more righteous, female viewers would like my character very much." The shoot took place on the one year anniversary of the March 11 Fukushima earthquake. Everyone inevitably worried about radiation effects on the hot spring, but Chung Lai Tai insisted on continuing the shoot. She said, "Japan permits us to shoot there, proving that there is no problem. With the beautiful Mount Fuji scenery of the Yamanashi Prefecture, giving up the shoot would be quite a shame." * (2013/04/23) Taiwan singer JJ Lin (Lam Chun Kit) recently released his 10th record STORIES UNTOLD to commemorate his 10th year in the business. Hung Goo admitted, "Someone indirectly contacted me, and I have seen the first installment of the film series. Me as a Mommy character? Are you kidding! I don't know how to be someone's mommy, am I playing the step mother!" Did she resist characters that did not meet her identity? Hung Goo said, "Yes! Do you feel I am suitable? Even you don't feel it's too right!" Perhaps she could fight over Yue Man Lok with Miriam Yeung Chin Wa. Hung Goo cracked up. "You think too highly of me!" Hung Goo did not directly said that she was making a comeback. "For now I don't know what the situation is, I have to study it in detail first." * (2013/04/22) Chrissie Chau Sau Na and "Tiny" Chen Jiajia attended a slimming event. Tiny saw Chau Sau Na as a goddess and praised her as both pretty and sexy. Chau Sau Na was dressed provocatively but had bruises all over he limbs. Actually she has been busy with fight scenes. "Every scene I had to take a beating, from both men and women. In the film I was quite a fighter, taking on ten people lonely. The location was very dirty. Would I consider a raise because it was too tough? I would! Next time I would negotiate clearly and charge fight scenes by the scene." Chau Sau Na said that the product was effective, earlier after the costume fitting her weight gradually dropped and made people misunderstand that she was getting thin over her breakup. "Recently I had many fight scenes, the action director asked me to get a little fatter. Otherwise I wouldn't have enough energy. Yet because of the Ya'an earthquake they agreed to cancel yesterday's press conference. Instead they performed Jacky Cheung Hok Yau's BLESSING (JOOK FOOK) to pray for Ya'an. At the start of the event, a moment of silent was held. Huang Xiaoming spoke first and said that originally it was a press conference about the film theme song, which now they decided not to discuss; then the trio performed BLESSING. The event ended after five minutes but won the applause of everyone. At the same time, Tong Dawai was working in Bazhong, which was 300 kilometers away from Ya'an and received many calls. He said that that morning he just shot an explosion scene. Later one of the crew said that the 11th floor was rocking and they finally realized it was an earthquake. He said that at the time he was at the explosion scene and could not tell whether it was the explosion or the earthquake. He and his wife donated 200,000 tents so the victims would not have to live outdoors. He regretted that he was unable to assist with the relief in the front line. Already donated 1 million RMB, Vicki Zhao Wei originally had a press conference and a red carpet premiere for the film she directed, OUR ETERNALLY LOST YOUTH, but because the Ya'an rescue was still in process, no one wanted to have any celebration. Thus they decided to cancel the press conference and the red carpet. A moment of silence was held to cheer on the disaster area. * (2013/04/22) Michelle Yeoh (Yeung Chi King) ignored online urging not to attend the Malaysia prime minister event. Although Yeung Chi King did not avoid campaigning for Najib, she said, "I don't know politics, I don't know how to sing either. I am just standing here to experience the concert, the experience is truly great!" Before ending her speech she invited Naijb to the stage to give a speech and left the stage. Locals criticized Yeung Chi King online for living overseas and had no idea about the situation in Malaysia. Some even started a boycott of her movies. A minor few said, "Yeung Chi King can have her own political stance, don't criticize her." Yesterday criticisms of Yeung Chi King have already received over 20,000 hits. * (2013/04/22) Dior Cheng Yi Kin two nights ago performed LIGHT AND SHADOW in Macau. For his third concert in Macau and the first after his marriage, he brought his wife Yoyo Mung Ka Wai. Yoyo cheered on her husband in the audience. Ekin said that he would not make another YOUNG AND DANGEROUS (GOO WAT JAI), but indeed had the intention to perform a show with all the YOUNG AND DANGEROUS members. Thus this time he invited Kar Lok and Lamb Hiu Fung to be his guests as a rehearsal. Fans were very supportive of Ekin starting a family. They even called Yoyo Dai Soh, and Yoyo was all grins and kept nodding. Ekin joked about his wife's reaction later, "It's normal! However all the grinning would lead to eye wrinkles." The focus of the entire night was his parenthood. He not only could not avoid his two brothers urging him to have a child in front of everyone, a fan who successful proposed at his first Macau concert would wait for Ekin to have a child first, Ekin immediately panicked and said it had nothing to do with him. Even Miriam Yeung Chin Wa sent a video to congratulate him and urged him to have a child soon. "Finally you heed my call and got married, congratulations on marrying a good wife like Yoyo. I hope to again as a mother influence you, even though I know you you don't want a child I still wish you have a son soon." Ekin said, "No way! I don't have this plan. Since Chin Wa said that, I would keep my eye on how she would be a mother first. Let everything take its natural course!" Recently Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam) broke up after 7 years. Ekin who married Yoyo after 7 years had no comment. Ekin said, "No comment, as long as he is happy it's fine. You can't force love. It's normal to be together when it's right and break up when it's not." * (2013/04/22) Sheila Chan Suk Lan appeared on a cable program and shared her 1988 Miss Hong Kong pageant bikini photos in Thailand. At the same time I have contacted singers, artists, music creators and colleagues who have worked with Sita to write for Sita on the memorial record." As for Lee Shing Chak being accused of taking advantage of the situation when he said he warned Sita against driving herself, Paco said, "Lee Shing Chak knew Sita even before I did, he even helped with her stage name. I knew long ago he time and after reminded Sita. Normally she would get a ride for work, thus after the accident I felt very surprised!" Sita was rumored to be overworked when she drove and had the crash. Paco explained that during that period Sita only focused on singing practice and recording. She has not started her new film yet so her workload was not considered heavy. * (2013/04/20) Actors all hope to have characters with space to demonstrate their abilities, Christy Chung Lai Tai is no exception. However due to her sexy looks and family environment, her image inevitably has been typecast. Earlier she tried the thriller THE INCREDIBLE TRUTH (WAN CHUEN) but he still looked forward to surprising viewers. Christy even wants to open a restaurant and try something new in her career. "Right now I am waiting for a good character. Many people have approached me and showed me scripts, but I can't find a character that I like. I don't know why I am always asked to play a single mother, haha! I really want to surprise viewers. I have tried many characters yet, I want to perform more emotional characters. I have a lot of life experience, I can play romance, comedy, and action, all of the above would the best!" "I have been in Beijing for nine years, ultimately the Mainland market is huge. Each mother I would return to Hong Kong to see my friends and buy powdered milk, haha! When my friends know I am in Hong Kong, they would plan a lot of activities. Ka Tung said, "For continuity, we had to wear heavy clothing in 30 some degrees (Celsius). Why did it shoot for so long? Goo Jai explained, "The film involved the Mainland police and drugs, some scenes had to shoot two versions. Everyone was watching their characters grow. He returned to Hong Kong for a day then flew away again for work. Two nights ago he accompanied his wife Qi Qi to attended a new Lanvin store opening party. Yam Tat Wa revealed that he had to wear costumes in the snow for a series of fight scenes, swordplay and walk on the snow. The process was extreme difficult. He said, "This time was the most difficult production since I started making movies, but it was happy! The temperature there was around 4 degrees below zero but the wind was class 5 strength with the snowstorm. I wore 4 layers and 50 heat pads but they were until effective for keeping warmth. At the time I was so cold that I didn't know my nose was running. The snow storm made me unable to open my eyes and was covered in snow like a snow man!" Qi Qi's heart ached over her husband's suffering on the mountain and even lost contact with him over the internet, which made her very uneasy. She said, "Because I couldn't get him on the phone, I couldn't find him for a while. With the proximity to Korea, rumors of war lingered. With the recent Boston Marathon bombing tragedy, I was the most worried about his personal safety." Brother Wa hoped that all the misfortunes would soon pass like rain. * (2013/04/19) Anthony Wong Chau Sun worked with Aaron Kwok Fu Sing. When asked about Sing Sing and Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam)'s break up, Chau Sun said, "What does their break up have to do with us working together before? Does everyone who have worked with me before break up? I remember he owes me many dinners for when he constantly woke me up with his driving. (Do you feel bad for them?) What does that have to do with me, I never care about stuff like that. I don't even know who his girlfriend is and what her name is." * (2013/04/19) Donnie Yen Chi Tan is working on the film THE ICEMAN COMETH 3D (3D BING FUNG HUP) in the Changbai Mountain. The temperature on the Changbai Mountain was 6 degrees below zero. Yen Chi Tan displayed his shoes with spikes but still could not escape slipping in the snow. He said, "I just slipped and fell flat on my face!" * (2013/04/19) The 66th Cannes Film Festival yesterday announced its 19 category Palme d'Or nominations, Hong Kong films were completely sunk. The pre race favorite Johnnie To Kei Fung film BLIND DETECTIVE (MAN TAM) finally will appear as a late night special screening. Leads Andy Lau Tak Wa and Sammi Cheng Sau Man were already surprised about being selected; new director Flora Lau Wan Man's first feature film, the Carina Lau Ka Ling starred BENDS (GWOR GAI) has been selected for Un Certain Regard. The film festival will open on May 15th. On the Cannes jury two years ago, To Kei Fung this time will return with his new film BLIND DETECTIVE. Because it will not be in competition, he will naturally be more relaxed. "I hope even more viewers around the world will be able to enjoy this film that belongs to Hong Kong. At the same time I hope Lau Tak Wa and Cheng Sau man will be able to take time so I can show them around Cannes." On the other hand, the Un Certain Regard segment that will feature new directors this year will welcome Lau Wan Man's first film as a director, the Carina Lau Ka Ling and Chen Kun starred BENDS. The story will be about a socialite and a driver and how they support each other through crises in their lives. It will also be just as full of authentic Hong Kong flavor. The director described the Cannes selection was "An unexpected surprise, the cast and the crew's effort and hard work have not been wasted." Although Lau Ka Ling was not in Hong Kong, she was still very excited to learn the good news. She said that she participated in this film "originally to help fulfill the new director's dream, but during the shoot I also experienced and learned a lot." She also said that she was very happy to work with Chen Kun. "He is great." Among the 19 films in competition, only one is a Chinese film. Mainland director Jia Zhangke's new film A TOUCH OF SIN. Aside from his wife Zhao Tao, he even invited Jiang Wu and Wang Baoqiang to play a modern heroic story that crossed province lines. * (2013/04/19) Jennifer Tse Ting Ting two nights ago went to the Pacific Place for a La Perla lingerie show. With the recent Boston bomb explosions and singer Sita Chan Ka Hei's fatal car accident, the sentimental Ting Ting said, "I am upset about Boston and Sita. Although we haven't worked together and didn't know each other, she passed away at such a young age and it's regrettable. I felt worse for her parents. Thus I feel I have to cherish, you never know what will happen tomorrow. Now I cherish being with my family very much." Ting Ting said due to the time difference she has not released her emotions with her boyfriend Andy Tien (On Chi Kit) but he will return from the U.S. soon. Would Ting Ting take the chance to wed as soon as possible? She said that her mind has not changed, instead she wanted to be with her family even more. She also revealed that she had a nightmare for two nights in a row. After she woke up she was sweating, so she was very worried about her brother Nicholas Tse Ting Fung's life risking and dangers on the set. Ting Fung after becoming a father watched himself much more. Ting Ting said that if anything happened to her brother, she has already promised to take care of her nephews for him. * (2013/04/18) With the full support of Gold Label manager Paco Wong and known as the music new comer with the most potential in recent years, Sita Chan Hei Yi early yesterday morning drove home alone from her singing instructor's home after practice. On the way she had a car crash and was severely injured. She was rushed to the hospital but to no avail, ending her short 26 years of life. This accident shocked the entertainment industry and sadden many. Due to how sudden the accident was, her parents and sister, even manager Paco Wong could not accept this fact. Yesterday when respect was paid at the site rain came pouring down as if even Heaven cried with her parents over Sita's short life. Chan Hei Yi's parents and her most beloved young sister around 3PM with family, friends and management company personnel returned to the site of the accident and paid their respect in the rain. They brought incense sticks, candles, fruits and other offerings. The police blocked one of the lanes for them to pay their respect. Although Sita's parents and sister wore medical masks, their eyes revealed sorrow as they often wiped their tears lightly. Mother Chan in particular was frail. Although they did not weep loudly, they were sobbing from within. They did not accept any interview, after the ceremony they left. Reporters yesterday contacted Sita's manager Paco Wong who lost his favorite artist. He still has not settled down and even said with a hoarse voice that yesterday morning co-workers already informed him of the bad news. He was too shocked to believe that it was true. He did not attend the ceremony on the road because he did not want to disturb Sita's family. Did Paco see Sita? He said that he did not, he only learned from her parents that Sita's face was not harmed. They estimated that the cause of death was internal bleeding, but because they have not received a detailed police report he did not want to make too many speculations. He too would hope to quickly get an understanding of the accident, why would it be so severe to cause a death? Currently they had to wait for an autopsy before a death certificate was issued. Then he would fully assist her family with Sita's affairs. Would Paco ask about the cause of the accident? He said that he too would have to wait for the police investigation. Perhaps due to the drizzle and the wet road and Sita was in a hurry to get home, but he stressed that Sita has always been a very safe driver. However normally she mostly had a ride. Paco even praised Sita as very hard working. Before the accident she sent an email to the record producer to discuss music. Since Sita worked until after 2AM, did she have the accident because of she was exhausted? Paco said, "I don't know, but her job schedule has always been very normal. I have been fully supporting her because I feel she had a lot of potential. Aside from music, I even planned to arranged for her to be in movies. Thus everything came too suddenly. Originally her record would have been released in the summer, now she has already recorded two songs. However she departed, it's truly very hard to accept." Would the two songs be released together as a memorial? With decades of management experience, Paco said that he has not fully thought of how to handle it. He believed that he would wait until after Sita's affairs have been taken care of and arranged for her final journey before considering anything else. Chan Hei Yi's company Sun Entertainment Culture also issued a statement on behalf of Paco Wong and the entire company, generally expressing shocked, sadness and regret over Sita's passing. Before the accident she completed a wedding gown shoot. At night she sang and practiced with her singing instructor. Around 2AM the severe traffic accident took place in Yau Ma Tei, at 4:16Am she passed away. The company offers its deepest condolences to her family and promises to fully assist Sita's affairs. At the time it thanks everyone and fans for their concern. Reporters saw Sita's microblog documented her days in music in the past two and some years. She not only was very hard working but also was very close with her family. Online she occasionally would mention that she was already very happy just from having tea with her family. Earlier when her mother was hospitalized with a fever she rushed to visit. She even blamed herself for not having enough time to spend with her family. She hoped to have more time to be with her parents. On Monday online she and her mother interacted for the final time. She pointed out that mother often sent her text messages that were as long as writing assignments and she was too lazy to reply. She did not expected that she was not "too lazy to reply" but had no way to reply anymore. Seeing this message after only a few days truly was heart breaking. Originally named Chan Ho Yi, Chan Hei Yi received her stage name from Lee Shing Chak. He was very sadden to learn the news and revealed online that he has asked Sita not to drive herself this year. He did not expect Sita to have an accident due to that. Lee Shing Chak posted, "Sita is Sin Ting and my good little sister! We met before she got into the business, I gave her the stage name Chan Hei Yi. I have reminded her not to driver herself many times." Teresa Caprio (To Lai Sa) once was Chan Hei Yi's singing instructor. She was very upset to learn about her student' death and cried with a broken heart. Yesterday at an event, when To Lai Sa was asked about Chan Hei Yi's passing, she was shocked to hear the news and broke down in tears. She screamed, "Oh my God! She was my student. In 2010 I taught her singing, at least 20 lessons. She sang very well." To Lai Sa praised Chan Hei Yi's potential, sweet looks and had a style of her own. "Life is unexpected, she was considered obedient. In addition she was very intense about her education. After she got into the business we lost touch, but I always paid attention to news about her and was very happy for her because she truly loved singing." Before the crash Chan Hei Yi practiced at the studio. Singing instructor Lam who was with her posted an eulogy on a social network site. "I truly didn't expect, you who was still so full of joy last night, you who was talking nonstop all night, even took pictures and had dinner with Instructor Lam......would bring bad news in the middle of the night. It's very sudden, very heart breaking, very very very ......miss you! May you have a safe journey!" HotCha member Winkie was close to Chan Hei Yi like a sister. Suddenly losing a good friend, she did not dare to believe. She remembered in her eulogy, "Dearest Sita: I truly don't dare to believe that you have already left me! Being able to run into each other and becoming friends were our destiny, we would always, always remember you, remember your smile, your singing. I wish we a safe journey and in the embrace of the Lord, in Heaven......we will pray for you!" Terence Siufay and Chan Hei Yi were like siblings. When he received the news at 7AM he could not believe it. He recalled when Paco Wong introduced them, then they became even more familiar at the same company and were like siblings. They often chatted and had dinner. Siufay said, "She would share anything unpleasant with me, but every time she talked about romance she would be displeased. Constantly breaking up and making up, so I didn't ask. As far as I know she was dating before, but lately I don't know." In his eyes Chan Hei Yi was a very happy person. She looked mild mannered but when they were together they would always laugh. "I even made fun of her for not daring to swim in her residence's swimming pool. She too said that she really didn't and the pool was closed anyway." The last time he saw Chan Hei Yi was on the 28th, very regrettably she passed away at such a young age. Chan Hei Yi's passing shocked show business. Industry insiders expressed their regret and posted eulogies online. Alan Tam Wing Lun, Joey Yung Cho Yi, Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Julian Cheung Chi Lam and others lamented how unexpected life could be as the music industry lost a good singer. Her LAN KWAI FONG 2 (HEI OI YEH PO 2) friend Sammy Sum Chun Hin was so upset that he broke into foul language, regretting that he was unable to fulfill the promise of singing together. Sum Chun Hin: While in the Mainland I can only read the news online! Chan Hei Yi was a good friend who I could have a heart to heart talk with. I really wanted to drop all the jobs and return to Hong Kong to see her one last time! We made a pact to chase our dreams together, to fight for our dreams! Didn't you say you would write a duet, wait for me to come back and sing it together? I still have a lot I want to say to you, honestly...I really miss you...miss you...love you...!" Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum): I looked forward to working with you next month. I wrote a great character for you and I haven't told you about it in details...have a safe journey. I paid attention to Sita's music videos and songs, I thought you sing great. Later we met each other at an event, I knew that you were a happy girl who always had a smile on your face. Coincidentally next month I would make a romantic comedy, originally I saved a part for you so you would be able to show your happy side to the audience. I regret very much that we were unable to work together. Stephy Tang Lai Yun: As soon as I got out of bed I received this news, What can I say! My mind is a complete blank, it's too sudden! Sita, have a safe journey! Alex Fong Lik Sun: The news is too sudden and too shocking, I don't dare to believe it. I am stunned. I really wanted to go home to see my family, I don't want to work anymore. Sita, you were too young. How regrettable! Tavia Yeung Yi: I haven't posted for a long time. Today is very hard to take. The music scene lost a young and talented singer. I wish you peace, have a safe journey, cherish those around you! Alfred Hui Ting Hung: This was our last photo together, I don't wan to believe it. I know that you worked very hard and put a lot of effort into singing. I am still waiting for your new work! Once so close, I wish you peace at a faraway place. Several days ago we went to Tang Chi Kei (G.E.M.) concert together, the memories kept flooding back. I hope you are radiating in another place! Lam Man Chung: It's very sad, I don't dare to believe it. I wish it's not true. White Pants, peace be with you! Pang Ho Cheung: I already knew Chan Hei Yi when she was a student and wasn't in the business yet. She was a girl who was very active and loved to laugh, she also had quite a talent for singing. May she rest in peace. Kay Tse On Kay: Chan Hei Yi was very polite and intimate. When I saw the news this morning, I was very sad and upset. Although we weren't close, I liked her very much. She was a very happy singer who enjoyed her work. Linda Chung Ka Yun: After learning of her death, I was so shocked that I didn't even know to respond unhappily. I also didn't believe it. We earlier at the IFPI award presentation ran into each other back stage. She said she loved to watch my television series and listen to my songs, I also praised her singing as great. I really admire her stage presence and her self confidence as a singer. Her voice was very beautiful and she had a lot of talent! Very regrettable! Mag Lam Yun Tung: Chan Hei Yi and I sang together and played games on TVB JADE SOLID GOLD. The news of her death was very hard to accept. I really liked her unique voice and singing. We shared a make up artist, who is very heart broken and whose eyes are all red! * (2013/04/18) Aaron Kwok Fu Sing attended the CONSPIRATORS (TUNG MAU) celebration last night. He insisted on being interviewed with Nick Cheung Ka Fai. At first he pretended to be relaxed but when reporters repeatedly mentioned the break up with Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam) he could not help but get mad. Sing Sing said that when he made CONSPIRATORS he gained a friend in Cheung Ka Fai. Reporters asked if he lost a girlfriend? He said, "Honestly, I won't answer. You know me, I don't reply to personal affairs. I wouldn't open myself up either, let love follow destiny." Is he single now? Sing Sing was already impatient. "I answered everything! No comment!" Would he properly say it once to know other girls know about an opportunity? He repeated, "I am done!" Was he talking about his relationship with Lynn? He insisted that love would follow destiny, he has always been low key and did not want to talk. He hoped outsiders would give him some personal space. Was he broken up? Sing Sing got mad. "I made this movie without any concern for my own life, but you don't ask me about work. Can you please respect the actors a little?" Sing Sing got mad over talking about Hung Doi Lam, but his face changed when he mentioned Christine Kuo. When he learned that Lady Kuo cried, he said, "It's so sad! She doesn't need to cry, those in clear knows they are; her personality is like this..." He added that he was not too familiar with her. Cheung Ka Fai suggested to Sing Sing to take Lady Kuo to dinner. He asked dinner now? Later, he said that he had to apologize to Lady Kuo. Untrue reports would affect a girl's reputation. * (2013/04/18) To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Gor Gor Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing's passing, the Miss You Much Exhibition at the Causeway Bay Times Square invited Gor fans to fold origami cranes together to break the world record. Although they have already reached the world record, Gor fans would like to reach their idol's birth date number the most to make it even more meaningful. Thus, the event organizer Chan Suk Fun yesterday again invited the Guinness Book of World Records officials to certify the latest figure and announce that the event successfully made a new record of 1,956,921 origami cranes for the larges origami crane exhibition record. Gor fans' wishes have been fulfilled as the world witnessed their love for Gor Gor; yesterday Choi Yat Kit also showed his support in person. Mrs. Chan pointed out that Gor fans were very pleased to set a new Guinness record with Gor Gor's birth date of 1,956,912 origami cranes, the other 80,000 to 90,000 extra cranes were not counted. After the exhibition ends on May 1, all of the origami cranes will be transported to Po Fook Shan to be offered to Gor Gor. At the event, Mrs. Chan also spoke about a magazine's claim that she made over 20 million on the series of Gor Gor memorial events. She said, "The artists were very smart, and behind them were managers and record companies. If I really did this, they must know to charge me. Thank you (Vivian) Chow Wai Man, (Tony) Leung Chiu Wai, Choi Yat Chi, Choi Yat Kit, (Karen) Mok Man Wai, all told me not to mind the gossip. They all performed with their hearts as a gift to Gor Gor. Fans put a lot of efforts into these few memorial events for Gor Gor, the media should not gauge good intention and love with money." She also said that the numbers have been done for the events but she did not need to announce them. How much money would be donated? She said, "Whether we made or lost money, we would donate to continue Gor Gor's charitable spirit. I stipulated that they were commercial events, I never sold them as charity shows to make money. I never even announced the artist list to tell people to buy tickets." The reports did not upset her. * (2013/04/18) Ronald Cheng Chung Kei and Susan Shaw Yam Yam appeared on a Cable program interview. He said that after resting two or three days he already has settled down. After winning the award he was too excited to sleep. His wife Sammie Yu Sze Man was very nervous before hand and spent a lot of time to match his clothes. Shaw Yam Yam did not win Best Supporting Actress, and many fans felt she deserved better. She supported DaDa Chan Jing's acting as very touching. "She had different variations in each scene, as soon as I saw her nomination I thought it would go to her." She even revealed, "I had several million in jewelry sponsorship, but Chan Jing wore 20 million in jewelry, even the sponsors felt she had a great chance to win." * (2013/04/18) Chrissie Chau Sau Na two nights ago attended the film BAU 3 CHIU GIU WA (EXPLOSIVE 3 ANGELS)'s production start ceremony in Fanlan, but she was not match for two Malaysia actresses Chris Tong Bing Yu and Emily Lim (Lam Pui Kei); Tong Bing Yu even displayed her 5 inch career line and blatantly stole the spotlight. Facing the tag team of angels from Malaysia, Sister Na joked, "Maybe Malaysia's papayas and durians are useful, I feel I have to put mine away." Would she strike back in the film? She said that earlier she injured her leg from a film but would continue to fight. She said, "I don't want to waste the kung fu that I learned for half a year. In addition half of my scenes are fight scenes, I would try to be careful with my injured left leg." Director, writer and actress Cheuk Wan Chi revealed that Sister Na saved the front for later. She said, "Sister Na would have the most daring performance in her film career, even more daring the releasing a pillow. She wore almost nothing, during the shoot the set had to be cleared." She also said that she regretted writing the fate for her character and joked that the boss still has not paid her acting salary. Playing a villain Tong Bing Yu said that in the film she only fought so she was ordered to steal the spotlight at the production start ceremony. She said, "The director told me to steal the spotlight today, show off when I can. I absolutely am someone who uses her head." Emily Lim would challenge the sexy standards and compete in both looks and fights with Sister Na. [ BLAH OF THE WEEK ] Columns, Reviews, Interviews 1. MING PAO DAILY, APRIL 21 2013, FILM WORDS JOHNNIE TO "HONG KONG DRUG" BATTLE OF THE WITS IN THE NORTH DRUG WAR (DUK JIN) is Johnnie To Kei Fung's first modern police film that has Mainland China as its backdrop. Actually among the current Hong Kong director, To Kei Fung may be the earliest one to head North to make a movie. In 1980 his big screen directing debut THE ENIGMATIC CASE (BIK SHUI HONG SEUNG DUET MING GUM) was shot on location in the hills of northern Guangdong. Since then for over 30 years To Kei Fung has gone from a rookie to a brand, some movies have been Mainland co-productions like the recent DON'T GO BREAKING MY HEART (DAN SUN NAM NUI) and ROMANCING IN THIN AIR (GO HOI BUT JI LUEN). However, for over a decade the best known and the most special police films from To Kei Fung's team have all taken place in Hong Kong and Macau. They never "risked their lives" officially in the North. DRUG WAR: China Hong Kong Battle of Wits Obviously because the Mainland film censors have a lot of restrictions on criminal subjects, his ELECTION (HAK SEH WUI) even seems to have a stab at the China Hong Kong sensitive politics and has been banned from a Mainland release. Now he finally makes a China Hong Kong police film. Of course because the Mainland has slightly loosen its restrictions, this film while welcoming the Mainland inspection standard of clear good and evil and police and criminal differentiations also does not lose the To police film's strong dark struggle style. Even though the result cannot please everyone, it still is a rare border crossing outstanding work. DRUG WAR completely takes place in the Mainland, its main story is even the drug problem that the Mainland has dodged in the past. Sun Honglei, Huang Yi and others play Mainland drug enforcement special police that dutifully investigates the underground manufacturing and distribution network of the drug "ice". Every trick up the sleeve is used. The film has evil Mainland businessmen and criminals, but the primary drug criminals are from Hong Kong. With the most screen time Louis Koo Tin Lok plays a Hong Kong Wise Guy. After his capture he works with the police, seemingly surrenders yet changes. The drug ring masterminds who appear later are all from Hong Kong. Vilifying Hong Kongers, Koo Tin Lok is Outstanding Hong Kong viewers perhaps would feel that DRUG WAR vilifies Hong Kongers but also would perhaps feel the Koo Tin Lok character has some intricate Hong Kong representation. He gets in trouble in the Mainland. Often battered and scarred, he begs and pleads with Mainland officials for his life. Actually he has always been scheming and traitorous. The final bloodbath leads to the end of both the Hong Kong drug gang and the Mainland police, an ending is truly daring and brutal. This time Koo Tin Lok ignores his image and acts outstandingly. He should be nominated for the next Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor. This film is full of twists and turns, entertaining and even exciting. Unfortunately it also shows the numerous China Hong Kong cooperation difficulties that are not easily resolved. All the Hong Kong stars become villains, the loyal Mainland police also has to lose lives. Seemingly neither audience would be very pleased. In addition, this film shoots the real Mainland situation with focus but the dramatic designs of the police and the criminal battles of wits are inevitably exaggerated and contrived, it may not meet the real Mainland situation. This film undoubtedly makes both accommodations and breakthroughs, hopefully from now explorations will continue and improve. (three out of five stars) TOKYO FAMILY: Hard To Remake Classic As for the Japanese film TOKYO FAMILY, an old country couple goes to Japan to visit their children, suffers a variety of tastes, life and death with mixed emotions. Famous director Koji Yamada remains skilled and heart warming. Yet the Yasujiro Ozu's classic work TOKYO STORY has already been adapted many times, the original version has been better than any new ones. This film is only passable and cannot surpass the years ago Italian version EVERYBODY'S FINE or the current German version CHERRY BLOSSOMS. Basically a classic is a classic and does not need to be remade. Yasujiro Ozu's still shot style is the one and only, which even Yoji Yamada does not dare to imitate. This time is just limited to melodramatic nostalgia. (two and a half out of five stars) - SHEK KEI [ In Production Now/Soon ] d. The Korean Cultural Service has previously offered up plenty of micro-budget cinema and the best in Korea’s genre offerings, but this spring, we’re combining the two – and delivering New York four of the country’s most exciting micro-budgeted action, science fiction, and horror films! It is easier for larger studios to be forced to break away from the directors’ original visions to create projects that focus on mass appeal. But these micro-budget films, financed by brave individuals rather than companies, offer creative, strange, and boundary-pushing movies that no studio in their right mind would create! We’re talking about the wildest, weirdest genre films you can imagine – from Korea’s undisputed kings of micro-budgets! Get ready for an invasion, New York City… because you’re about to go up against crazed criminals, lovelorn time travelers, brain-hungry zombies, and a pair of extraterrestrial beachwear! It doesn’t get much stranger than this! Tuesday, April 30, 2013 @ 7pm THE NEIGHBOR ZOMBIE (2009, U.S. Premiere) Why should Americans have all the fun when it comes to zombie outbreaks? In this tongue-in-cheek 2009 thriller, Seoul is overrun with the walking dead – and the government says it’s time to wipe them out! A six-part comedy/horror anthology from four cutting-edge indie directors, The Neighbor Zombie follows an unbelievable zombie outbreak as it spreads throughout Korea, examining the numerous people it affects in bizarre, wild ways. With an amazing $18,000 budget, it embodies the pinnacle of what a talented group of filmmakers can accomplish if they put their delicious, juicy brains together! ---------------------- HK Top Ten Central hktopten@hotmail.com http://hktopten.orgfree.com | http://hktopten.blogspot.com
