He is survived by his wife and their 7 year old daughter. 2. MISCELLANEOUS * (2013/04/03) The 32nd Hong Kong Film Award will take place on the 13th at the Tsim Sha Tsui Cultural Center. Earlier the Best Actor and Best Actress nominees Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Tony Leung Ka Fai, Nick Cheung Ka Fai, Chapman To Man Jat, Lau Ching Wan, Sammi Cheng Sau Man, Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Zhou Xun and Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam dressed up and put of Piaget sponsored diamond jewelry for the program photo shoot. Online opinions felt that this year the Best Actor will be the battle between the two Fais, COLD WAR (HONG JING)'s Leung Ka Fai and NIGHTFALL (DAI JUI BO)'s Cheung Ka Fai. However Leung Ka Fai was seen as the favorite, his explosive deputy commissioner Lee Sir received wide praises as suitable, not excessive, completely left Aaron Kwok Fu Sing in the dust; Cheung Ka Fai in NIGHTFALL was exaggerated and a little hard for some to watch. Favorite Leung Ka Fai did not feel any pressure but did not feel that he would certainly win Best Actor. He said, "My advantage is I never think about it, this way the confidence would be even greater. When I watch other people's performance I always feel it's outstanding, when I watch mine I would have a lot to pick apart. Experience has taught me that as long as I am nominated, my acting has already been recognized." VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KET)'s first time nominee To Man Jat just wanted to be a part of it. Like Leung Ka Fai he did not dare to think too much. The 25th Hong Kong Film Award Best Actress with PERHAPS LOVE (YU GOR OI), Zhou Xun although has been recognized as a good actress who has been able to capture viewers' hearts with each film performance, this time she has two nominations with THE GREAT MAGICIAN (DAI MOR SHOOK SI) and THE SILENT WAR (TING FUNG JEH). Many felt that she would be like Cheng Sau Man at the 21st Hong Kong Film Award as 3 nominations FIGHTING FOR LOVE (TUNG GUI MUK YAU), LOVE ON A DIET (SAU SUN NAM NUI), and WU YEN (CHUNG MO YIM) split her votes and she lost to FOREVER AND EVER (DEI GAU TIN CHEUNG0's Sylvia Chang (Cheung Ngai Ga). This year everyone instead thought Sammi had a chance, citing that she carried the entire film in ROMANCING IN THIN AIR (GO HOI BUT JI LUEN II). The character had more potential, her acting was mature and moved people to tears. It was drastically different from her past silly lady characters; Sammi's main rival was LOVE IN THE BUFF (CHUN GIU YU JI MING)'s Yeung Chin Wa. Sammi said, "Receiving everyone's recognition, I have to thank two mentors, director (Herman) Yau Lai To who brought me into the film industry and my teacher and friend director (Johnnie) To Kei Fung. I hope to win Best Actress with To Kei Fung's movie in order to repay him." However, Kong Yeuk Lam who gained 20 pounds for her character, a weightlifter, was seen as the dark horse. Kong Yeuk Lam did not dare think whether she would be able to defeat her elders and admitted that she did not have much confidence. Director Andrew Lau Wai Keung picked Cheung Ka Fai and Yeung Chin Wa. He said, "Cheung Ka Fai in NIGHTFALL made a lot of sacrifices for his character. In addition he did not have any line or any expression, it was very difficult. Now many Hong Kong actors would not do that, as they would rather take the money and run. They wouldn't make any preparation for their characters beforehand. Yeung Chin Wa's performance became more and more natural and charming. Although she is already a mother, her helplessness in LOVE IN THE BUFF was very well played and left a deep impression with viewers." * (2013/04/03) The 4 day Easter holiday has come to an end. The film box office overall rose from last year, as this year's Easter total box office was HK$32,554,009, a rise of 21.82% from last year's HK$26,722,801. Five films were released for Easter, the Korean hunk Lee Byung-Hun starred foreign film G.I. JOE: RETALIATION, the animated film THE CROODS, the Anthony Wong Chau Sun starred IP MAN THE FINAL FIGHT (IP MAN JUNG GIK YUT JIN), the Tang Wei starred FINDING MR. RIGHT and BEAUTIFUL CREATURES. G.I. JOE: RETALIATION made HK$11,379,714 over 4 days for first place. In second was THE CROODS with HK$8,700,694. Wong Chau Sun's IP MAN THE FINAL FIGHT was in third with HK$4,103,225. All three films including late shows, advanced screenings had cumulative box office of HK$14,599,615, 11,568,281 and 4,909,688 respectively. Tang Wei's FINDING MR. RIGHT and BEAUTIFUL CREATURES had accumulated HK$3,348,772 and 1,123,139 respectively. * (2013/04/03) The film CONSPIRATORS (TUNG MAU) will be released on April 11. It will be the final chapter of THE DETECTIVE (C+ JING TAM) series. Earlier director Oxide Pang Shun led Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Nick Cheung Ka Fai and Jiang Yiyan to promote in Beijing and announced CONSPIRATORS' May Day Mainland release that will challenge IRON MAN 3. Sing Sing said that the production had many thrilling scenes, one of which was a train chase. Reactionary bullets also made his back look like a beehive, luckily the scenes were more scary than dangerous. He said that the Malaysia explosive expert's reactionary bullets were too strong. When they were triggered close to him he felt like he was shot; later they switched to ammunition bullets to avoid bruises. Sing Sing said that he had a lot of pressure from working with "seven time Best Actor" Cheung Ka Fai. He hoped to be a "nine time Best Actor" but two years ago he already dropped the stubbornness for awards and took a destiny approach. Sing Sing also was asked about his wedding date. He said that making more good movies was more important than everything else. * (2013/04/03) For the 10th anniversary of Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing's passing, manager Chan Suk Fun after completing for him the two show MISS YOU MUCH LESLIE concerts yesterday went to Po Fook Hill to pay her respect to Gor Gor with Japanese "Gor fans". After holding back her tears for days, she finally succumbed under the influence of fans who went to pay their respect despite the weather. Daffy Tong Hok Tak two nights ago appeared on the Hong Kong Coliseum stage and gave three bows to the audience with Chan Suk Fun. Although he did not speak, he already expressed his appreciation inside. Chan Suk Fun said, "After so many years, actually this pain is very hard to pull out of. However he has already taken a giant leap, which puts me at ease and is what comforts me the most." Speaking of Tong Tong's room being caught on camera, Chan Suk Fun admitted that she rarely read magazines but hoped everyone would give Tong Tong some space, which was also respecting Gor Gor. "If needed, during official events Tong Tong would stand still for everyone to take pictures. There is no need to disturb his personal life. If you respect Gor Gor, then you would let him live properly!" Chan Suk Fun revealed the final message that Gor Gor left her but led to Mainland online speculations. She said, "'I can finally have a proper sleep' is only a transition, bringing out the lyrics of FOR FRIENDS is the most important. Because I don't know how to express myself, I made it into a music video. Gor Gor wanted everyone to know that if they understood him they would overcome their sorrow and happily live everyday." She urged everyone to put the folded origami cranes into the collection boxes before April 10. "Although the Guinness Record has already been set, I still hope to satisfy the fans' '1956912' mission and make the entire event even more perfect." Speaking of damages to Gor Gor's sculpture, Chan Suk Fun said that it will be repaired and hoped that everyone would cherish it while taking photos. At the concert two nights ago, many artists shot videos to discuss Gor Gor's life. Jacky Cheung Hok Yau said, "I never think that Gor Gor has passed, especially since he has left so many great on screen work. Even over 10 years I still feel he is very close to us." Kit Chan Kit Ling also did not admit Gor Gor's passing. "As a star, as a friend, he absolutely could be a role model. I miss this best friend and the most admired person of mine very much." Kelly Chen Wai Lam remembered receiving the Best Female Singer award from Gor Gor. He even taught her how to act personally. Her eyes were all red as she said, "Back then when I made AND I HATE YOU SO (SIU CHUN CHUN), Yee Chung Man asked Gor Gor to teach me acting. I never expected him to agree right away. I remember in one scene (Aaron) Kwok Fu Sing and I had curry. At the time I went to Gor Gor's home for the first time, I was very nervous. His home was very pretty, in addition he already finished reading the script long ago and even came up with several different performance methods for me." Carina Lau Ka Ling said, "I miss you very much, one day we will meet again." Tony Leung Chiu Wai said, "In front of the camera he was a very professional actor. Behind it he was a very sincere, very simple person. Because of movies we often communicated and met overseas for long periods, we became familiar. I don't know where Gor Gor is, my only wish is that he can be happy." Tony Leung Ka Fai folded origami cranes as he said, "I was East Evil, he was West Poison. I still remember the difficult and intimate moments in the below zero degree desert, days of drinking and dreaming everyday. When I was Tung Sing, he was Sai Jau. We had a chance to sing and dance together, which made me understand he was an all purpose person...acting, singing, even writing lyrics on the spot, he made me understand what a poem in seven steps was. I am very happy to see everyone here, remembering an old buddy who has left for 10 years." * (2013/04/03) Japanese fans yesterday went to Po Fook Hill to pay their respect to Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing. Mainland fans brought fresh flowers and offerings on their own. Almost a hundred fans filled the zen hall. Chan Suk Fun brought the all star autographed memorial concert poster and prepared paper sports car, Hong Kong Coliseum and director chair for Gor Gor. The Art of Leslie Cheung's Movies exhibition started yesterday to the 8th and would be open to the public for free at the Hong Kong Central Library. His beloved Daffy Tong Hok Tak loaned Gor Gor's FAREWELL TO MY CONCUBINE (BA WONG BIT GEI) Japan Film Critic Association Foreign Film Best Actor award to be displayed. Also shown are costumes, stills, posters, and 7 film's classic sets. Red Mission revealed that biggest dream was to build a Leslie Cheung museum. Meanwhile, TVB and ATV on Sunday scheduled special programs to remember Cheung Kwok Wing. TVB's 7PM program LARGER THAN LIFE LESLIE had an average rating of 14 points, around 890,000 viewers and a peak rating of 19 points. The 10PM broadcast of the MISS YOU MUCH LESLIE concert was aired twice and ran until 4AM. The program's average rating was 13 points, as 830,000 viewers remembered Gor Gor in front of their televisions. The Broadcasting Authority received 5 complaints about the programs, citing they promoted homosexuality, cross dressing and had indecent content that had bad influence on children. ATV's 10:30PM repeat broadcast of a Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing interview had an 1 point rating as 64,200 viewers relived Gor Gor's past glory. A Leslie Cheung memorial art exhibit opened in a Sheung Wan studio yesterday. 16 art pieces with Gor Gor's image from artists from Hong Kong, Korea, England, Japan and other places were on display. Mr. Lam said that the art exhibit will be moved to Busan to coordinate with the Busan Film Festival because in May a Gor Gor film retrospective will take place there. The Cheung Kwok Wing international fan club organized Red Mission last night held at the Cultural Center LOVE JOURNEY tenth anniversary memorial concert. Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Orchestra played Gor Gor's film music and songs to coordinate with the live film video. Band Tai Chi's lead singer Patrick Lui Yau Fai performed HOT. The Japanese ballet dancer Kazuhiro Nishijima who has worked with Gor Gor and pianist Anthony Sun performed. Lui Yau Fai said that the fan club every year would invite him to attend. As for the performance salary, he said, "We don't worry about that. Gor Gor has given so much to us, this time I am just giving back to him." The concert proceeds will be donated to the End Child Sexual Abuse Foundation. * (2013/04/03) Huang Xiaoming and Fan Bingbing yesterday attended the WHITE HAIRED WITCH (BAK FAT MOR NUI JUEN ji MING YUET TIN GOK) press conference. Huang Xiaoming suffered an injury from the film's wire work and had to rest for a long time. Fan Bingbing said, "My heart already aches just from remembering Huang Xiaoming's on the set injury. I remember when he returned to the set, I was so emotional that I wanted to cry." Huang Xiaoming later shot the scenes again. When he hung in mid air, everyone on the set was very nervous, multiple times more than he was; he would always remember everyone's concern. Huang Xiaoming revealed that he will soon have another operation to remove the 4 metal pins in his leg. Then he will rest for 1 month as "metal pin hero" will retire from the world. * (2013/04/03) Once made a hit Hollywood horror film, director Ronny Yu Yun Tai's first Chinese historical film SAVING GENERAL YANG (JUNG LIT YEUNG GA JEUNG) will soon be released with a strong cast. Hong Kongers are the most familiar with Adam Cheng Siu Chau, Dior Cheng Yi Kin, Raymond Lam Fung, Wu Chun and Vic Chou Yu Man. Yu Yun Tai said that originally during casting, a group of "film industry older brothers" thought the roles were too small and asked him to change the script. He eliminated them all from the production. He also revealed that Ekin due to Louis Koo Tin Lok's injury and resignation had to switch characters twice and hesitated. He was worried about gossip. Y: Yu Yun Tai, R: Reporter R: SAVING GENERAL YANG puts Cheng Siu Chau, Cheng Yi Kin, Wu Chun, Lam Fung, Chou Yu Man in its star studded cast. Did you have any difficulty with screen time distribution and the massive battle scenes? Y: When the production started many film industry experts asked for Chow Yun Fat, (Andy) Lau Tak Wa, (Tony) Leung Chiu Wai, of course the suggestion was great. However in my mind they had to be young, strong, cool, handsome and fresh. Thus during casting I looked for a new group with over 1.8 meter height, they were all older brother class. When they came to negotiate they thought that group scenes were numerous and they had nothing to act with. They were afraid of becoming support players and each asked me to change the script and add scenes. Very strangely, I ended up eliminating them all. Hollywood has many ensemble films too, like OCEAN'S ELEVEN had Matt Damon, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and others. They wouldn't think their roles were small! With this current group of actors, they know my starting point is to express the Chinese tradition and beautiful culture of benevolence through the Yang Clan Warriors story. Thus they had no argument at all. However I put a lot of effort into evenly distributing the roles. I had to make them look very cool on horseback. On the other hand the massive battle scenes were not hard at all. R: Koo Tin Lok who originally was in the cast due to leg injury resigned, did it affect the film progress? Praises Ekin's Big Brother Presence Y: The two major troubles during this production, aside from casting, Cheng Yi Kin also had troubles; actually I wanted Ekin to play the oldest son long ago because I know him to be loving, dislike fighting, treat the crew well, just like a big brother. Yet boss (Raymond) Wong Pak Ming said that he spent a lot of money to sign Koo Tin Lok and I had to use Goo Jai. I thought, Goo Jai constantly used the tanning bed and didn't look like the big brother. During the shoot he would have to convince people and couldn't be just for looks, but it was out of my hands. I could only convince Ekin to play the villain, finally Ekin agreed. Perhaps it was destined, Goo Jai broke his leg as work was about to begin. I asked Ekin to play the oldest son. He hesitated as he was afraid that other people would talk. I spent a lot of time before I was able to persuade Ekin. On the set he truly had a big brother presence. R: Some said everyday before work, the seven sons of Yang would have a group read to elevate their unity. Were you worried that Father Yang Chau Guoon would be jealous of being neglected? Revealing Chau Guoon Resisted Fake Beard Y: I kept that in mind. Everyday in the end was a script reading with Chau Guoon. He was very professional. Although he was dubbed, everyday he delivered the Putonghua lines and used iPad software to correct his own pronunciation. However Chau Guoon has always been very chok. At first he resisted the fake beard. Later I explained that the long beard represented his character's power, thus he accepted it. Confident, Without Fear Of Being Underdog R: Hong Kong people resist co-productions in recent years. This time SAVING is a co-production. Are you worried about the box office? Y: Many film industry experts pick this film to be a bomb, but I believe in myself. When I make movies I treat myself as a viewer, I only make it when I feel moved. The story whether old or new depends on the director's technique; when I made THE BRIDE WITH WHITE HAIR (BAK FAT MOR NUI JUEN) I ran into Tsui Hark's SWORDSMAN II (DONG FONG BUT BEI) and other swordplay films; when I made FEARLESS (FOK YUEN GAP) people said the subject was too repetitive, but the results proved that they worked. I feel SAVING will be a hit around the world, the most important is for the audience to feel it is a good movie. Naturally it will spread. Turning Down CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON 2 R: Director Ang Lee has won the Best Director Oscar twice, will it help elevate Chinese directors' positions and developments in Hollywood? Y: No. Ang Lee is an unique case. He has lived in the U.S. for a long time, he no longer is an outsider. He has become a part of the film mainstream, in addition development depends on work. Commercial films rule Hollywood, when you go over there you shouldn't follow the trend, you have to be certain what your advantages are. Others felt my horror films were great so they asked to make a horror film; however if I wanted to make an action film, I would have to wait for it to leak out of Ng Yu Sum (John Woo)'s fingers! Now instead I want to make more Chinese films, as I get older I want to find my roots, use what I know to spread the beautiful Chinese traditions and cultures. Hollywood asked me to make CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON 2, but I turned it down. Ang Lee is my idol, the previous film was too classic. CROUCHING is his creation, the creative soul can't be counterfeited. It should be appreciated, outsides shouldn't mess with it. * (2013/04/02) Shu Qi recently worked on the Hou Hsiao-Hsien directed THE ASSASSIN (NIP YUN LEUNG) in Taiwan. To play the title character who was well trained in martial art, she needed to handle a lot of action. Lately everyday she had to be on the wires. After getting home she round bruises all over, but she did not complain. She only asked her assistant to apply dit da jow. Becuse earlier Huang Xiaoming's wire snapped during a shoot, Director Hou asked the stunt coordinators to take extra safety precautions. Before the shot they inspected many times. Due to the slow progress of the action scenes, the film would not be completed until mid June. Shu Qi due to the scheduling conflict resigned from THE GOLDEN MONK (CHAI GUNG) project with Wong Jing and Koo Tin Lok. * (2013/04/02) The Stephen Chow Sing Chi directed JOURNEY TO THE WEST: CONQUERING THE DEMONS (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN) made HK$28.5 million in Hong Kong. After 50 days in release in the Mainland, it made 1.243 billion yuan two days ago and still 17 million from the Xu Zheng starred and directed LOST IN THAILAND. This movie will leave the cinemas in a week so it could not possibly break LOST's box office record! Yet Sing Yeh saw what a hit the film has been and is already planning the sequel. Seeing how demanding he is though, after the script the new film will not be ready until two or three more years. * (2013/04/02) The Zhejiang Hengdian film and television invested, Niu Chaoyang directed, Gillian Chung Yun Tung, Julian Cheung Chi Lam and Wai Ying Hung starred 3D film WHITE FOX (BAK WU) yesterday held a production start press conference in Beijing. The film will be based on a chapter of STRANGE STORIES FRO MA CHINESE STUDIO. Ah Gil said that she will play the fox fairy for the first time and be in love with Chilam. "I have seen Zhou Xun's fox in PAINTED SKIN (WAT PEI). Her performance was great, both good and evil." Wai Ying Hung and Ah Gil will play mother and daughter. Did they resemble each other? Ah Gil said, "Like sisters!" * (2013/04/02) Mainland star Huang Yi just gave birth to her daughter in January. Two days ago she made her first appearance at a promotion. After more than two months Huang Yi has not returned to form yet. She even joked, "Now I am very big, I look stronger than (Louis) Koo Tin Lok." Koo Tin Lok praised Huang Yi as still very pretty. Huang Yi had her baby but still has not stopped her belly rubbing habit. Koo Tin Lok pretended to want to rub Huang Yi's belly. "Your child is already out, you don't have to press your belly again." Huang Yi cracked up. Huang Yi admitted that she had to actively lose weight before returning to work. * (2013/04/02) Chrissie Chau Sau Nan recently has been working on the Cheuk Wan Chi and producer Wong Wing Fung's new film BAU 3 CHIU GIU WA (EXPLOSIVE 3 ANGELS). Turning into an action actress in the film he was often injured all often from fighting with co-stars. Two nights ago she revealed on Instagram that she sprained her left leg. Actually Sister Na already got bruises on both legs from her kick scenes. Two nights ago she revealed that she sprained her leg during the shoot. The crew immediately applied ice. In the photo Sister Na made a painful expression and wrote, "I couldn't avoid the sprain." She said, "Luckily it is just a sprain, the bones are fine. The director isn't in Hong Kong for a few days so I can rest during this period." * (2013/04/02) "Ten years living and dead have drawn apart, I do nothing to remember, But I cannot forget" was not only Daffy Tong Hok Tak's words to his beloved Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing, but also Gor fan's forever remembrance for their idol. 10 years ago at 6:43PM on April 1, Gor Gor jumped from the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and ended his life; 10 years later on April 1, nearly a thousand Gor fans participated in a candle light memorial event in addition to numerous memorial activities. Every drop of tear on the face of Gor fans represented that they never forgot, Gor Gor would always live on in their hearts. Cheung Kwok Wing's beloved Tong Hok Tak last night went to the Hong Kong Coliseum to remember Leslie with fans in a low key manner. In the past 10 years, Tong Tong would choose to spend the day alone, but this year Gor fans finally moved him to remember Gor Gor with almost ten thousand Gor fans. Tong Tong before last night's event ended appeared on stage with Mrs. Chan and gave three bows to the audience in appreciation of fans' never changing love for Gor Gor over the years. Mrs. Chan spoke first on the stage. "Gor Gor, today is your memorial day. Daffy very bravely attended the exhibition on the 30th and two nights of memorial concerts. You can relax and enjoy your long vacation." Then she held Tong Tong's hand, gave three bows to the audience and waved. Tong Tong did not speak. After leaving the stage he left in a vehicle. Tong Tong yesterday even revealed that his and Gor Gor's good friends of many years DJ Vani dedicated the song WHERE ARE YOU (NEI JOI HOR DEI) to Gor Gor and publicly expressed his endless missing and love for Gor Gor for the first time. The lyrics "From now on I know how much I love you, want to be with you long ago" have already expressed his love to the faraway Gor Gor. Tong Tong even represented Gor Gor and dedicated a song to Gor Gor's fans. He said, "I want to dedicate the song GETTING THROUGH IT TOGETHER (GUNG TUNG DOH GOR) to all of Leslie's friends and fans." Did Gor Gor receive Tong Tong's sentiments? Tears still have not dried after ten years of farewell. What Cheung Kwok Wing would be the proudest of would probably be his fans whose passion for him never ceased. For days fans in Hong Kong, the Mainland, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, The U.S., Canada and other places brought fresh flowers, origami cranes, fruit, candy and other offerings to different locations to pay their respect like an one day Hong Kong tour. They went to Gor Gor former home, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Sha Tin Po Fook Hill, the Avenue of Stars, and for the 10th anniversary this year they even went to Times Square and the Hong Kong Coliseum for the Miss You Much Leslie exhibition and concert. Traces of Gor fans could be seen everywhere. Yesterday around 6PM, almost a thousand Gor fans gathered at the square across the street from the former Mandarin Oriental, with more attendees than past candle light memorial events. Ice House Street across the street was also filled with fans, some even stood in the road and alerted the police to set up barrier to maintain order. Fan club representative Ms. Yau said that according to Chan Suk Fun the correct time of death was 6:43PM, the moment of silence also was changed. Gor fans held white handles as the event played many Gor Gor hits. When THE MOON REPRESENTS MY HEART (YUET LEUNG TOI BIU NGOR DIK SUM) the thousand Gor fans sang along. Many faced the Mandarin Oriental hotel across the street as tears ran down their faces. At 6:43PM, a moment of silence began. Then Gor Gor's voice was played, "Thank you, I hope you would forever remember me." Many Gor fans immediately screamed "Leslie". Singer Han Yang immediately sang GOR GOR. The event ended at 6:48PM. Many Mainland Gor fans headed for the Hong Kong Coliseum to attend the memorial night. At the exhibition that began two days ago Gor Gor's bust was already damaged in two places. Yesterday the exhibition at Causeway Bay Times Square continued to be packed, unfortunately a mischievous child stomped and poked at Gor Gor's giant bust. The event's original intention was for fans to be able to touch it, which turned into a little disrespectful to Gor Gor. The reporter even found a lot of damage to the sculpture. However, most Gor fans had good intentions. A group of Gor fans from the Mainland who called themselves "Miss You Much Origami Crane Mission 1956912" quietly folded origami cranes in the corner. A female member revealed that the organization has been formed for 3 years, from the initial few dozen to now almost a thousand members. This time over a hundred members came to Hong Kong. Last night the Chan Suk Fun organized Miss You Much Leslie memorial night at the Hong Kong Coliseum was mainly for fans to share Gor Gor's exciting performance. Last night when the concert began, the entire audience gave an one minute standing moment of silence. Chan Suk Fun before the show said that last night mainly was a video broadcast. Because many "post Wing fans" wanted to understand their idol's life even more, it was like a fan club meeting. Did the singers volunteer to perform two nights ago? She said that everyone should be able to see each artist's whole hearted performance, thus everyone sincerely presented this gift to Gor Gor. * (2013/04/02) Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing's fans yesterday were all over Hong Kong, the goal of which was to pay respect to Gor Gor. A sea of flowers filled Hong Kong as everyone would not forget this day. Gor Gor's former home in Kadoorie Hill posted two notices in Chinese, English and Japanese from the management, stating that Gor Gor has already moved from the above address. Any flowers or souvenir left there would be removed immediately, but female Gor fans still insisted on bringing flowers to remember Gor Gor. Ms. Fu from Lanzhou said that she was a "post Wing fan". She only liked Gor Gor for 11 months. Last April she said the 1989 farewell concert online and liked Gor Gor, thus she came to pay her respect; Gor fans still put letters into the mailbox in hopes that Gor Gor would be able to see their love in Heaven. The Mandarin Oriental Hotel at Central would be a sea of flowers every year. Many fans also gathered on Ice House Street next to the hotel. Gor fans around the world presented a heart shaped floral arrangement, and spelled out "We Love You" with flowers. Many Gor fans heard Gor Gor's hit and broke down in tears. Chan Suk Fun set up a spiritual tablet in Po Fook Hill for Gor Gor, which not only had fresh flowers in front of it but also at the special area set up outside for everyone to express their love for Gor Gor. Gor Gor's hand print on the Avenue of Stars also had fresh flowers, each flower represented the endless memories that everyone had for the idol of a generation. The preservation group "Our Bus Terminal" and the Central and Western Concern Group yesterday organized the "Traces of Gor Gor Central and Western District guided tour" that brought Gor fans to many locations of Gor Gor's music video and films for free. Stops included the LOVE music video location the old Legislative Council building, WHO CAN RELATE and HE IS A WOMAN SHE IS A MAN (GUM JI YUK YIP)'s Duddell Street, STAND UP's Pound Lane in Sheung Wan. The guided tour had over 200 Gor fans, starting from the old Mandarin Oriental Hotel to Pound Lane they danced the STAND UP choreography on the stone steps. Guide and Our Bus Terminal chair Leslie Chan Ka Long was also a loyal Gor fan. "This is our first Gor Gor guided tour, hopefully we will be able to preserved Gor Gor related landmarks. At first we thought around 30 people would participate, we didn't expect over 200 people. Hopefully in September we will organize another guided tour on Gor Gor's birthday." Many Mainland tourists joined the guided tour. The 18 year old Wuhan student Ms. Cao deliberately skipped class to pay her respect to Gor Gor in Hong Kong. "I went to the Hong Kong Coliseum for the memorial concert. I was very emotional and cried many times." In a Gor Gor memorial tee, she said that she waited in line for 3 hours before she was able to buy a souvenir. Mainland Gor fan Mr. Liu said that Tong Tong's words for Gor Gor was the most touching. * (2013/04/02) Miss You Much Leslie concert two nights ago took place at the Hong Kong Coliseum. Stars saluted Cheung Kwok Wing and performed his classic songs. Daffy Tong Hok Tak also supported the event in a low key manner. How did he thought? Gor Gor's good friend So Sze Wong yesterday wrote online, "Mr. Tong said in compliment, 'The fans are the best'!" Seemingly the passion of Gor Gor fans touched Tong Tong. Many artists posted their valuable photos with Gor Gor in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of Cheung Kwok Wing's passing. Little Tigers' Wu Wai Hong brought a surprise and posted a swimsuit photo with Gor Gor. In the photo Gor Gor and Wu Wai Hong both wore sexy speedo with Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Chiang Hing Lung in shorts. The photo background was the former TVB Broadcast Drive headquarter's Wooden Men Alley. * (2013/04/02) Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing is not the one and only in the hearts of fans, even international class director Wong Kar Wai and film company Hsu Feng who have worked with him felt that no one could replace Gor Gor. Not only would they not remake FAREWELL TO MY CONCUBINE (BA WONG BIT GEI) but also no Cheung Kwok Wing biography. Like Gor Gor's hit MONICA, who can replace your position? Wong Kar Wai and Cheung Kwok Wing have worked together on many films. If Tony Leung Chiu Wai was Wong Kar Wai's preference, Cheung Kwok Wing was Wong Kar Wai's favorite. In DAYS OF BEING WILD (AH FEI JING JUEN), ASHES OF TIME (DUNG CHE SAI DUK) and HAPPY TOGETHER (CHUN GUONG JA SIT), Gor Gor brought his characters to life and left deep impression with the audience. Wong Kar Wai yesterday expressed his feeling about the 10th anniversary of Gor Gor's passing online. "I think I won't make a Cheung Kwok Wing biography or cast someone to play Cheung Kwok Wing, because I think he was the only one and cannot be replaced. He was a very special person." In a few words, Wong Kar Wai already said how unique Gor Gor was in his eyes. In the same manner, FAREWELL TO MY CONCUBINE's owner Hsu Feng stated that no one would be able to replace Gor Gor in FAREWELL TO MY CONCUBINE. Even so, Gor Gor who rose to fame in South Korea long ago was well missed. A film company wanted to remake his hit film MOONLIGHT EXPRESS (SING YUET TUNG WA), which starred Gor Gor and Japanese star Takako Tokiwa. The film production company said that it has already purchased the right from Mei Ah. The new version will have a Korean director and Korean actors. The remake of a Cheung Kwok Wing style romance for an Asian release would be deeply meaningful to the 10th anniversary of Gor Gor's passing. To those who missed the Cheung Kwok Wing style romance, this would be a great gift that would bring back memories. * (2013/04/02) Every friends who mention Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing would tell their special feeling for Gor Gor because Gor Gor is an unique idol. This dress was hand sewn with nearly 1,000 butterfly shaped colorful plastic, each one was filled with my memory of Uncle Leslie. Last night I ran into his voice again at the HKC... Zhang Ziyi: I pray for the stars and the moon to bare witness, even for a lifetime I am willing to wait, one day I will fulfill my wish and bring you to find forever. Missing my only idol -- Cheung Kwok Wing. * (2013/04/02) The Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing starred film FAREWELL TO MY CONCUBINE (BA WONG BIT GEI) 20 years ago held a charity screening yesterday at the Sunbeam Theater, which was filled with posters and stills from the film. A charity DVD and record sale took place, all the proceedings will be donated to Gor Gor's favorite charity Children's Cancer Foundation. Lee Kui Ming and a female Mainland fan donated HK$50,000 and HK$100,000 respectively. Sunbeam Theater was where Gor Gor and Zhang Fengyi met in the film, thus the screening chose to take place here. Gor Gor's beloved Daffy Tong Hok Tak loaned Cheung Kwok Wing's Japan Film Critic Association Foreign Film Best Actor to be displayed for everyone. The empty chair was saved in the theater for Gor Gor to watch the film with fans from Japan, the Mainland and other places. The film's executive producer, Tomson's Hsu Feng, also attended. She said, "Many people asked me to remake FAREWELL TO MY CONCUBINE, and many people have offered to play Dip Yi. However I will never remake it because no one can compare to Cheung Kwok Wing. He was the one and only. Gor Gor was an amazing and smart actor, when he made FAREWELL he stayed in Beijing for half a year without returning to Hong Kong. He personally performed all of the opera scenes himself." She said that now every time she passed by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel she would not dare to look, so far she still was unable to accept it. Hsu Feng knew that Gor Gor was very sick. She said, "When Gor Gor was ailing, I was in Shanghai. I returned to Hong Kong once or twice every month. Gor Gor would come to my home to discuss the film that he would direct. Then he was severely sick, I called him and even though he didn't feel well at all he still replied in a minute. Our common point was our passion for film. Our memories were so numerous that they could not be all written down in several books." * (2013/04/02) Famous singing teacher Hui Pui passed away (1924-2013) at the age of 89. Today the funeral took place at the Universal Funeral Parlor and the remains will be transported to Vancouver for burial. Teacher Hui Pui's service began yesterday. Adam Cheng Siu Chau, Lee Si Kei, Paula Tsui Siu Fung, Rebecca Pan, Deborah Li, Patrick Tse Ying, Ivy Ling Po, Kam Han, Law Lan, Wan Lau Mei, Chan SUk Fun and Fan Tsui Lai Tai all paid their respect. Connie Chan Bo Chu, Liza Wang Ming Chuen, Law Kar Ying, Damien Lau Chung Yan and Michelle Yim (Mai Shuet) all sent floral arrangements. Helen Ma helped with the service. She said that Teacher Hui Pui had no religious belief and thus the funeral had no religious ceremony. The funeral took place today, Teacher Hui Pui's daughter will play music to bid her mother farewell. She revealed that Teacher Hui Pui's remains will be transported to Canada and buried with her husband in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Her good friend Lydia Shum Din Ha was also buried there. Cheng Siu Chau said that before his concert, Teacher Hui Pui assisted him with rehearsal. In recent years they have had little contact. Earlier his daughter Joyce Cheng Yun Yi mentioned to him that Teacher Hui Pui was seriously ill. He really wanted to visit but he had to promote SAVING GENERAL YANG (JUNG LIT YEUNG GA JEUNG) overseas. He regretted that he was not able to see her one last time. Chau Guoon remembered Teacher Hui Pui's help. "she always cared about her students." Hui Pui was born in Suzhou and immigrated to Hong Kong from Shanghai. She was a behind the scene singer for movies and thus joined show business, beginning her singing teacher career. Over her 32 years of teaching singing, many top singers were her students. In 1983 she retired. On March 18 she succumbed to sickness. * (2013/04/02) Tsui Tin yau two nights ago attended the THE WAY WE DANCE (KONG MO PAI) premiere. He said that in 2006 he worked with the film's director Wong Sau Ping on MAGIC BOY (MOR SHOOK NAM) and he looked forward to his new film very much. Thus he had to support him and be happy for him. Why did he not guest star? He joked that the director perhaps has seen his dancing at the Shine concert and did not ask him. Tin Yau said that last month he just finished the micro film BAU 3 CHIU GIU WA (EXPLOSIVE 3 ANGELS) in Thailand. This time he had the chance to work with Chrissie Chau Sau Na, but playing an otaku he played her brother. Thus they did not have any intimate scene. He said, "This film's selling point isn't sex but action. She is so thin because she is fighting nonstop everyday." * (2013/04/01) The Johnnie To Kei Fung directed, Louis Koo Tin Lok, Huang Yi and Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen) starred DRUG WAR (DUK JIN) yesterday held its Beijing premiere. Although Goo Jai attended, he only answered questions that the host asked perhaps due to rumors with Taiwan stars Joe Chen Chiao-En and Michelle Chen. Goo Jai spoke of playing a drug lord in DRUG WAR. He was still bad as he was about to die. He thought the performance was fun but working in Beijing was too cold. After five minutes outside his leg would hurt. Huang Yi came to promote two months after giving birth. Yesterday she said that originally she did not want to come because she felt she was fat. Yet she recalled making this film was like pregnancy, the process was very painful but the result was very sweet. Thus she decided to promote. To Kei Fung said that he asked Goo Jai to play the drug lord because no one would believe him as a Mainland cop. Thus most the cop roles went to Mainland actors. * (2013/04/01) Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing has never fulfilled the director dream. Veteran screen writer Lam Kei To who worked with Gor Gor on the film BRIDE WITH WHITE HAIR (BAK FAT MOR NUI JUEN) two nights ago revealed on internet radio that Gor Gor was interested in making a romantic comedy in 2003 and even planned to invite Japanese star Nanako Matsushima to work together. He said, "I know that Gor Gor back then thought about working with a Japanese production company and getting Nanako to be the lead actress. In the film Gor Gor was someone who the entire world thought was gay. In Hong Kong he ran into Nanako and finally everyone was wrong as he developed a romantic love story with Nanako. He knew Gor Gor at the time already had a second draft, the preparation was smooth." As for Gor Gor's other plan of directing the film version of THE YOUNG CONCUBINE (NGOR GA DIK NUI YUN) with Anita Mui Yim Fong as a co-director who would have been responsible for the acting directions, Lam Kei To said, "Although Ah Mui was sick at the time, Gor Gor often convinced her to fulfill the director dream." * (2013/04/01) On a morning radio program, radio DJ Leung Tai interviewed several of Gor Gor's friends in the business like Alan Tam Wing Lun, Sandy Lam Yik Lin, and Karen Mok Man Wai. Alan and Gor Gor were rivals back then, their fans even attacked each other in a blood feud. Alan on the program recalled when he and Gor Gor both chose pink suits to attend the Tokyo Music Festival. As Alan was trying to figure out a resolution, Gor Gor joked, "What is there to be afraid of! Just pretend we are Team Hong Kong!" Gor Gor was very gracious and shared a mutual admiration with Alan. Alan lamented that if Gor Gor was still alive, they now might be good partners. Alan also revealed that a few weeks before Gor Gor's passing he invited him and Nat Chan Pak Cheung to his home. Alan recalled, "He invited us to his home for afternoon tea. He said at the time he was moving but had a lot of koi in his pool, he asked us what to do. Finally he gave the koi fishes to Ah Lek." Speaking of Ah Lek admitting on another program that he criticized Gor Gor publicly before and revealed that when he visited Gor Gor at home Gor Gor asked Ah Lek why he attacked him. Although Alan had no impression, Gor Gor's direct personality was thoroughly on display. Close with Gor Gor, Mok Man Wai said that when Gor Gor participated in the RTV singing contest, she at age 8 presented flowers to him. She said, "I still remember that. At the time he wore a white suite and was really very handsome." When Karen joined the business and worked with Gor Gor on a movie, Karen told him. Gor Gor joked, "Then I am your uncle." Later she was a guest at Gor Gor's concert, sang a love song with Gor Gor and even kissed him for over 20 nights. Karen admitted that Gor Gor was very helpful to younger generations and treated her like a niece. Thus she still often thinks of Gor Gor. Lam Yik Lin described Gor Gor as someone who truly resembled an "older brother". He often lectured younger generations. She also praised his professionalism and treated people with sincerity. Kit Chan Kit Ling who played mahjong with Cheung Kwok Wing said, "We used to play together all the time, even Tong Hok Tak. We also played mahjong together. we not only joked around but also chatted about personal stuff." Chan Kit Ling also said that Gor Gor at the start of his career was both "immature" and "ambitious". Because their manager was Chan Suk Fun, they sang two songs together. Chan Kit Ling also revealed that Gor Gor taught her to sing. "Because back then English songs had a deep influence on me, my singing was rougher. However Gor Gor was very tender. When we recorded , he and I would talk about how to handle the love song." Chan Kit Ling also knew about Gor Gor's depression and felt that his passing had some advanced signs. * (2013/04/01) To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the superstar of a generation Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing's passing, Gor Gor's manager Chan Suk Fun starting last night began two nights of different format MISS YOU MUCH LESLIE events at the Hong Kong Coliseum. Last night friends who have worked with Gor Gor performed and remembered Leslie through music. Tony Leung Chiu Wai appeared on stage three time and conversed with his late friend. He even asked Gor Gor if he missed everyone. Jacky Cheung Hok Yau performed in shorts and sandals, he joked that no matter how he dressed he would not be as cool as Gor gor. Mrs. Chan also opened the mystery message and brought out Gor Gor "hoped to have a comfortable sleep". The concert had around 20 performing artists. Gor Gor's beloved Daffy Tong Hok Tak chose to appear and support the event in a low key manner. The show opened with Chan Suk Fun's recording, telling the mystery message that Gor Gor once left her. She said, "At 6:43PM on April 1, 2003, a loud surprise shattered the hearts of many. At the time I was at the scene and had no idea what happened. Suddenly a voice told me, 'I finally can properly have a comfortable sleep'. I always kept that in my heart and told no one, until I heard this song (Cheung Hok Yau's FOR A FRIEND to Anita Mui Yim Fong), finally understood and said it. Relax! We understand, we know, you will always remain in your free space, we will always miss you!" Then Anthony Wong Yiu Ming appeared on the stage as well as an empty chair, as if left for Leslie. Wong Yiu Ming performed LOVE OF GLASS. He said, "Gor Gor, 10 years ago you played a big joke on us. That day the entire city shattered; but your passing taught us to care about other people's pain. Although you have gone to such a far away place, everyone still miss you so closely." Then he sang the Gor Gor narrated THIS FAR, THAT CLOSE. Gor Gor's good friend Tony Leung Chiu Wai appeared with the DAYS OF BEING WILD (AH FEI JING JUEN) theme song as background music. He appeared three times throughout the night, conversing with Gor Gor. At the end he even sang with all the performers WIND CONTINUES TO BLOW. Wai Jai said, "Gor Gor's dream was to become a director. Gor Gor is the director of tonight's concert. All the singers are the actors, and he claps the clapper board." Wai Jai quoted DAYS OF BIENG WILD, "If you want to remember you will always remember". He said, "I remember that you really like this line from DAYS OF BEING WILD. After this period, I finally understand. It also tells me that this life also has progressed, at this minute who is missed the most. Sometimes when I raise my head and stare at the sky, I would thinking about looking for the bird with legs." Wai Jai looked up and asked, "After 10 years, I really want to know, do you still miss us?" Then Gor Gor's concert video was aired. "I miss all of you the most." Wai Jai said that after Gor Gor left, once he accidentally called his number and heard a familiar voice, "Please leave a message." Wai Jai continued, "I really wanted to say over the phone, let's start over." This was what Ho Bo Wing (Cheung Kwok Wing) also said in their film HAPPY TOGETHER (CHUN GUONG JA SIT) to Lai Yiu Fai (Leung Chiu Wai). Peter Chan Ho Sun said in his video, "In a movie that we worked together on, he insisted on speaking a line until he thought it was perfect. It was 'Whether you are a man or a woman, I just know that I love you'." The crowd applauded. Hok Yau appeared in sandals and shorts. He said that his look respected Gor Gor the most because it was his favorite. Yet he definitely was not as cool as Gor Gor. Hins Cheung King Hin performed with a "male female mix" look. Choi Yat Kit had Gor Gor's image on his back. Vivian Chow Wai Man sang the song that Gor Gor wrote for her, IF YOU KNEW MY DIFFICULTY. She choked up as she said, "Maybe for Leslie writing this song was easy, to me it was an incomparable honor." Kelly Chen Wai Lam and Joey Yung Cho Yi sang Gor Gor's hot hits. Sheung Tin Ngor sang the theme song of her series with Gor Gor, ONCE UPON AN ORDINARY GIRL (NUNG BOON DOR CHING). After the performance, Chan Suk Fun lamented with her eyes all red that the production was not perfect enough. However the stars comforted her and said that she already did very well. Gor Gor would definitely be very happy to receive this gift. Last night many friends made videos about Gor Gor and made more understand Gor Gor's brilliance in the eyes of his friends. When Gor Gor's first love Teresa Mo Shun Kwan appeared on video, the crowd roared. When she remembered Gor Gor she was so emotional that she was teary eyed. Mo Shun Kwan: Gor Gor and I both love Cantonese Opera. He once hired a band, our favorite was to perform Yam Pak. After Gor Gor's passing, every time I hear Cantonese Opera I would think of him. So Sze Wong: A medium friend said that he dreamed of Gor Gor, asking him to tell his friends "stop being heart broken over me". Today I am dressed in pink because I want to say that life goes on, don't be heart broken anymore. Do you hear me? From now on only said Miss You Much Leslie! Carina Lau Ka Ling: Every Lunar New Year I would receive peach blossom from Gor Gor. After Gor Gor passed, I continued to shop at the place that he introduced to me because I wanted to preserve that feeling of flower shopping with Gor Gor as a memory. Tony Leung Ka Fai: I always said Gor Gor was petty as he would easily get mad at people. Yet he wouldn't be mad for more than 5 minutes. This was Cheung Kwok Wing. Cherie Chung Chor Hung: When we made a movie overseas, when we were together Gor Gor would share a lot with me. Sometimes we would fight over the same thing when we shopped, but when he saw a suitable gift he would give it to me. He truly loved his friends. Gor Gor has always stressed "forever", which he has already achieved. He is a legendary superstar. John Woo (Ng Yu Sum): Every time I heard PAST LOVE (song from A BETTER TOMORROW), I would have a very loving feeling. I will happily live my life! Last night many show business guests attended, which confirmed Cheung Kwok Wing's luck with people. They included the elder Pak Shuet Sin, who arrived in the company of her disciples Connie Chan Bo Chu, Mui Shuet Sze and friends Lau Pui Kei, Chan Sin Chi and others. Lau Ka Ling, Deborah Li and her husband Moustache Kong, Shi Nansun, Cheung Man Yi, So Sze Wong, Elaine Jin (Kam Yin Ling), Alan Tang Kwong Wing's wife and daughter, Lee Lam Lam also attended. The event set up 18 tables for them. Viewers also received white candle lanterns, every corner of the venue were filled of shadows of Gor Gor. * (2013/04/01) Today is the 10th anniversary of Leslie Chueng Kwok Wing's passing, but fans still miss him no less. Opened two days ago, the MISS YOU MUCH LESLIE exhibition attracted many fans and visitors. They fought to take photos with Gor Gor's white 6 meter tall bust, but because they were so enthusiastic, in less than 24 hours the bust was already chipped in two places and scratched all over. Many Gor Gor fans were heart broken and urged everyone to stop damaging Gor Gor's bust. The exhibition opened two days ago, the most eye catching was Gor Gor's 6 meter tall bust. The event did not set up any barrier so fans and visitors would be able to make close contact with it and take photos. Yet some people did not cherish it as yesterday the right shoulder were found two two chips and other places have been scratched. Fans worried that the bust will be even more scarred and hoped everyone would cherish it more. Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum) yesterday visited. He said that he was a Gor Gor fan and thought that the bust looked very much like Gor Gor. At night he would rush home to watch Gor Gor's memorial concert. Ten years ago on April 1, 2003, Gor Gor suddenly jumped from the Mandarin Oriental Hotel at Central and ended his brilliant life. Every year fans around the world would present flowers there to commemorate the anniversary. Yesterday afternoon outside the hotel was already a sea of flowers. Over 100 fans gathered with different floral arrangements as well as awards. One said "WE LOVE YOU" with flowers and "Love For You Never Changes" to express their love for Gor Gor. A Mainland fan said that she was a "post Wing fan", liking him only after Gor Gor passed. She had depression herself. 3 years ago online she read information about Gor Gor, including his films and music, and brought a lot of positive energy to her. This time she was the happiest to see Gor Gor's beloved Tong Tong two days ago at the exhibition. He even waved to her, which was very touching for her. A group also posted a poster to promote its group tour, taking Gor Gor fans to the Central and Western districts to visit places where Gor Gor left his foot print like music video locations for free. Anyone who was interested could meet at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel today at 2PM. * (2013/04/01) Yesterday around 3:30PM, Chan Suk Fun led the Grasshoppers and the crew to conduct a worship ceremony for the concert. Mrs. Chan revealed that the event theme would be countdown with Gor Gor, with the new songs starting the countdown performance to the old songs. Would Gor Gor's beloved Daffy Tong Hok Tak attend? She said, "I don't know yet, but he has come to the Hong Kong Coliseum to watch the rehearsal. The entire production preparation progress brought back a lot of memories for me." Another event will take place on the April 1. Even though no singer will perform, the event will play many music videos, guest well wishes and never before seen videos. She hoped that the younger generations of "post Wing fans" will be able to understand Gor Gor even more through the interview videos. Later Tai Chi, William So Wing Hong, Andy Hui Chi On, Joey Yung Cho Yi, Anthony Wong Yiu Ming and others appeared at the venue for rehearsal. Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing was very easy going and willing to help new comers in show business, thus many artists who have received Gor Gor's help and worked with him had nothing but praise. His relationships with elders were great as well. Yesterday many artists online and in interviews remembered Gor Gor. Andy Hui Chi On: To be a bird with legs requires aura and qualifications, he had them and he truly was able to achieve them. Gor Gor, "ten years" was the same, no one can replace you. Law Kar Ying: Every year on April 1, how many people miss him? Have you? I have. Jacob Cheung Chi Leung: Cheung Kwok Wing is a serious performing artists, he would not care about his co-stars' quality. He would only bring them into character. Thus everyone respected him. Lam Jik: Leslie's songs and performance are unique. Sylvia Chang (Cheung Ngai Ga): Cheung Kwok Wing respected and cared about elder actors very much. When he had time he would eat and chat with them. He cared about the younger generations just as much. He truly was a rare artist. Shu Qi: I still remember when Gor Gor worked with me on a movie. He held my hand, taught me the lines and the marks. He was very patient, I still wouldn't have forgotten now. Karena Lam Ka Yun: Every year at this time there would be many red cotton tree flower on the ground, and I would miss you especially! Sam Hui Koon Kit: Leslie! I wish you happiness in Heaven! Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi: Gor Gor, I am great. You don't have to worry about me. Now I have two very cute, very healthy children and live very happily. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart. * (2013/04/01) Albert Au Shui Keung at a Cable Entertainment News interview shared his valuable photos, including a photo with Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing and Alan Tam Wing Lun. "Back then Alan and Cheung Kwok Wing were the hottest singers in music, the outside often thought they were competing but actually privately they were very good buddies. They would dine together. The competition was only due to their over enthusiastic fans slamming the other's idol; their fans would compete like it was life and death, which onlookers thought was funny." Au Shui Keung once performed SHADOW OF VENUS (OI SUN DIK YING JI) with Taiwan singing beauty Shen Yen, who was very famous in Taiwan. She planned to develop the Hong Kong market and invited him to work with her. Once at a promotion in Kowloon Park, several hundreds were expected but a hundred thousand people crushed the venue. The event cancelled the event out of fear of losing control. He said that he was already the envy of many otakus when he was able to take a photo with Shen Yen. * (2013/04/01) Chen Kaige worked with Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing on FAREWELL TO MY CONCUBINE (BA WONG BIT GEI), which left him with a deep impression. He spoke to Sina about the production, in his eyes Gor Gor was "the same as a person and in character, pure and pristine". After Gor Gor's passing, he once dreamed about Gor Gor in a Chinese suit costume. He smiled and said, "Farewell!" When he woke he had tears coming out of the corner of his eyes. He said that the first time when he met with Gor Gor in Hong Kong, he had a otherworldly feeling -- very natural, very realistic. In the colorful world of Hong Kong he could be so clean, very tolerant and without any arrogance. He was an extremely hard working person, before the shoot he focused on studying Beijing Opera in Beijing for 6 months. Now who is able to do this? During the shoot he was very focused, in one scene Gor Gor was asked to quit smoking opium and got into a conflict with Zhang Fengyi. After the shoot Gor Gor was in tears and didn't stop for a long time. He was full of this lack of distinction between the person and the role. * (2013/04/01) Two Best Actors Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Nick Cheung Ka Fai yesterday promoted their film CONSPIRATORS (TUNG MAU) at a shopping center. They host the trailer launch ceremony, played games with fans and shared production experience. Sing Sing said that the his personality was similar to the "seven time Best Actor" Cheung Ka Fai. They already had a lot of chemistry when they worked together for the first time and he praised his great acting. Ka Fai complimented Sing Sing on being very understanding and protective of his co-stars. When he learned that he was afraid of "small animals", during the shoot he often stomped on cockroaches and shooed away rats. He made him feel very warn. Cheung Ka Fai admitted that due to childhood trauma he was very afraid of "small animals". He said that while shooting in Malaysia, he saw a rat that was the size of half an arm. Sing Sing was afraid that he would be scared and shooed it away for him first. He also joked that if he saw cockroaches at home, he would pretend to be calm in front of his wife and daughter but actually be shaking inside. "If I don't go to hell who would go to hell, but I am more afraid of seeing cockroaches than when I saw corpses as a cop." When asked about memories from working with Sing Sing, Cheung Ka Fai said that they both have been in show business for awhile but never had a chance to work together. This time they very quickly established chemistry and they were able to honestly chat. Did he ask about Sing Sing's rumor? Ka Fai joked, "I have to ask him for advice on rumor speculation for me. I have been speculating for several decades and still got nothing." He said that he did not see Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam0 visiting the set or pay attention to his rumor with Christine Kuo. He would not deliberately ask either. Speaking of Ka Fai asking him for rumor speculation advice, Sing Sing said, "I will have to pass him to reporter friends. I understand that the paparazzi are just working for their meals, over the years I just smile and let them be." Recently he supposedly put a flute next at the head of the bed in order to have a son. Sing Sing stated that the report was untrue and purely based on imagination. "I just read it like a joke, the pen isn't in my hand." Did he have any plan to have a child? Sing Sing admitted that for now work came first. Since he has not yet won the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor, he would like to be recognized domestically and would make it the goal. Even with a family and children later he will still make movies. Sing Sing said that although this year he was not nominated for a Hong Kong Film Award, he was happy to have everyone's support. Will he attend that night? "I would attend if I am invited, I wouldn't complain at all because I wasn't nominated. I respect the voters' decisions." Sing Sing earlier washed off the blue (difficult) peach blossom. Did Lynn like his new hairstyle? "Don't talk about the past anymore." As for having Indian with a Lama, Sing Sing said that since he was a Buddhist, sometimes when Rinpoche came to Hong Kong he would arrange for meals, a place to stay and meetings with the faithful. He said that the meal that night was vegetarian. * (2013/04/01) Veteran actors Kong Ngai (originally named Tang Siu Yi) passed away on the 13th from lung cancer at the age of 81. Two days ago the service began at the Universal Funeral Parlor and yesterday the funeral took place. The remain was transported to the Diamond Hill Crematorium for cremation. The service began yesterday at 11AM with a Buddhist ceremony; Kong Ngai did not have any wife or child. After the ceremony his niece Mrs. Au carried his photo out of the hall. Mrs. Au lowered her head the entire way and entered the hearse in sorrow. Friends and family took a bus as the remain was taken to Diamond Hill. * (2013/03/31) The Johnnie To Kei Fung directed DRUG WAR (DUK JIN) was selected to be the Taiwan Golden Horse Fantastic Film Festival opening film. Two nights ago he promoted in Taipei. Lead actor Louis Koo Tin Lok perhaps due to rumors with Joe Chen Chiao-En and Michelle Chen did not go with To Sir to Taiwan. When reporters asked To Sir about Goo Jai's romance, he joked, "Ah! He now has a preference for Taiwan girls!" He said that he rarely talked with Goo Jai about his personal life, even when they drank together. "Because before he is drunk, I am already drunk." To Kei Fung also said, "After working together for so long, I have never seen him having a girlfriend visiting the set, I don't know who is real and who is fake. He is very introverted and likes to hide everything inside. If his personality is more open, his acting would be even better." * (2013/03/31) Raymond Wong Pak Ming from 1984 to 1996 worked with Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing numerous times. The most memorable was when Clifton Ko Chi Sum invited Leslie to return from Canada to work on ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL (GA YAU HEI SI). Originally Stephen Chow Sing Chi's role was Leslie's, but after reading the script he wanted his character and wanted to be paired with Teresa Mo Shun Kwan. Wong Pak Ming said, "Leslie was very confident that he would perform this character well, so we changed the script. Finally the film broke all the records, everyone saw how outstanding his performance was!" He also pointed out that Leslie loved to help new comers. When he made THE PHANTOM LOVER (YEH BOON GOR SING) he once asked for Louis Koo Tin Lok. At the time Goo Jai had to work on a series in TVB so they changed to Huang Lei. Ten years after Leslie's passing, Wong Pak Ming said, "If I have a chance, I would like to keep working with you on movies. Now the Mainland market is huge. We can again go to war shoulder to shoulder." In addition, a Mainland media report said that in 2003 Gor Gor planned to fulfill his director dream with a new film, with Jiang Wen and Huang Xiaoming as father and son. At the time Xiaoming was on the rise after the television series THE PRINCE OF HAN DYNASTY and even welcomed Gor Gor to his hometown Qingdao for location scouting with his entire family. Unfortunately with Gor Gor's passing the hunks of two generations were unable to work together. Ko Chi Sum worked with Cheung Kwok Wing on many films, but over the years they have been rumored to be at odds. Reportedly in 1994 Ko Chi Sum was unable to sign Cheung Kwok Wing for a movie and someone publicized a check that was different from the salary and upset Gor Gor. Ko Chi Sum said, "Gor Gor has left us so many years, why are people still trying to stir the pot? Gor Gor in 1998 even worked on my film NINTH HAPPINESS (GAU SING BO HEI). We worked in Nansha for two months and were very good friends. He even gave me a tip that (Connie) Chan Bo Chu was interested in a comeback and asked me to approach her. Finally in 1999 I worked with Chan Bo Chu on the play A SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY (GIM SHUET FAU SUN)." Charlie Yeung Choi Nei spoke with Mainland media about working with Gor Gor on ASHES OF TIME (DUNG CHEK SAI DUK). At age 17 she and Gor Gor called each other "father" and "daughter". At the time she had a scene with a lot of dialogue. Although Gor Gor did not have a part he still got up early to encourage her on the set and went over the lines with her. "Later he saw that I was fine and said that he was going back to sleep. At the time I stared at his back and thought he was very cool. I would never forget that in my lifetime!" Charlie thanked Gor Gor for helping the younger generations and introducing her to other people. Both Karen Mok Man Wai and Karena Lam Ka yun also benefited from his care. * (2013/03/31) The 5th Okinawa International Film Festival yesterday closed. The Laugh Category Uminchu Prize Grand Prix went to the Jackie Chan directed CZ12, while the Peace Category went to Taiwan director Fu Tien-Yu's THE HAPPY LIFE OF DEBBIE. Jackie Chan who was unable to accept the award in personally said that April 7 would be his birthday and the award was a great present in advance. * (2013/03/31) On April 1st, 2003, Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing jumped from the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and ended his colorful life. Gor Gor's beloved Daffy Tong Hok Tak yesterday made a rare appearance at the MISS YOU MUCH LESLIE exhibition opening ceremony. Although he smiled in front of others, he remained lonely. 10 years after losing his love, he still was covered in scars. He quoted the lyrics "Willing To Set A Date In Lifetime to Embrace Again in the Next" to continue his relationship with Cheung Kwok Wing. Rarely appearing in recent years in public, Tong Hok Tak after consideration yesterday morning confirmed his attendance of the Causeway Bay Times Square MISS YOU MUCH LESLIE exhibition opening ceremony. After 2PM Tong Tong left his home and drove to the site. After 10 years, Tong Tong remained haggard and unhappy. When he appeared in public he finally forced out a smile and often waved to "Gor fans". Tong Tong in the company of Cheung Kwok Wing's manager Chan Suk Fun carried a giant red origami crane that he personally folded for Gor Gor when he appeared. He simply said to the thousands of fans, "Thank you everyone! Thank you Mrs. Chan! Thank you". Then he unveiled the 6 meter tall bust of Gor Gor and placed the giant origami crane on the arches. After the Guinness World Record examiner announced that the 1900,119 origami cranes have become a world record, Tong Tong represented Gor Gor in accepting the certificate and said that this gift from the fans would definitely have touched Gor Gor. At the event, Chan Suk Fun presented an origami crane pin and well wishes to Tong Tong, who simply answered, "Everyone is very happy". After the opening ceremony ended, Tong Tong did not look at Gor Gor's bust, after taking a lap of the venue and left for home. Actually, although the wound of losing his love for ten years looked healed but still hurt in his heart. Tong Tong in his email reply to Ming Pao Weekly first thanked Gor Gor's fans for their love for him, for everything that they have done for Gor Gor over the years, and their condolences through letters, voice mails and the occasional violation of his personal space. He was very moved that everyone have not forgotten Gor Gor. Tong Tong recalled that he used the ostrich strategy and flew to the U.S. to avoid the fact of Gor Gor's suicide on April 1, thinking that he would be able to forget the pain this way. Later he finally realized that hurt would not lighten due to time and space changes. He wrote, "As time faded, the wound finally healed but the scars remained!" Tong Tong said that over the years he would choose to stay home to spend this trying day, fortunately a group of good friends and Gor Gor's relatives often sent their condolences and kept him company on this painful day. For 10 years, Tong Tong's life remained the same. Aside from playing sports he would dine with friend and is learning to live well everyday to repay those dearest to him. Finally he quoted Gor Gor's classic hit THIS LIFETIME's lyrics, "Permit me here to say to Leslie 'willing to make a date in this lifetime to embrace again in the next'." Chan Suk Fun pointed out that Tong Tong has always been low key and did not want to become the focus, but finally "Gor fans" still moved him to agree to attend the event and represented Gor Gor in accepting the fans' gift. How was Tong Tong? Chan Suk Fun said, "Happy and touched! He wants to tell everyone that he is moved and is living very well. Please everyone stop worrying about him." Chan Suk Fun said Tong Tong has always been very supportive of this memorial event and she was very happy that Tong Tong was willing to represent Gor Gor and attend. She said, "Over these 10 years, Tong Tong wanted to thank fans and friends who loved him, loaning Gor Gor related personal collections to share with everyone like awards and stage costumes. The clothing has been in storage for a long time, I had a lot of pressure too." Did she invited Tong Tong to attend tonight's Miss You Much Leslie concert? Chan Suk Fun said that she invited him to attend all the events. Two versions of HK$220 Gor Gor notebook were available for purchase, they included valuable photos like Gor Gor and Tong Tong's intimate photos; as well as Gor Gor's Chinese and English writing. One of the English ones was from 1973 (age 17) titled "Myself". He wrote that he liked sport because it made him strong, his favorite was swimming and badminton; the words were as elegant as he was. The other draft was from his 2000 photo book, the first draft of Gor Gor's foreword. His Chinese words were very straight and clearly written. The exhibition yesterday evening opened to the public and was jam packed. The lines were long for souvenir purchase. Some of the souvenirs like the 12 inch figure, pins and tee shirts were sold out immediately. Chan Suk Fun was on hand to supervise everything but was surrounded with autograph and photo requests. A Japanese fan Ms. Watanabe and a group of friends came to Hong Kong for the exhibition and the concert tonight. She was disappointed that she was unable to purchase the 12 inch figure and the photo book. She said that she did not like Gor Gor's bust, feeling that it was horrifying and was not handsome enough. Leung Leung and Ah Jing from Guangdong said that they only liked Gor Gor after his passing. They liked his movies and music and his real personality. They thought that the exhibition was too open, everyone was able to touch the bust, which they did not feel right about. As for Gor Gor and Tong Hok Tak, they thought that artists' personal lives should have some personal space. Fans Ah Sip and Chau Suen felt the respect that everyone had for Gor Gor and Gor Gor was very influential. * (2013/03/31) The Miss You Much Leslie exhibition yesterday was unveiled at the Times Square and will run until May 1 for Gor fans to reminisce about Gor Gor Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing. At the opening ceremony a Guinness World Record was set, as Gor fans' hard work of folding origami cranes yesterday with the examiner as the witness netted 1,900,119 origami cranes. The original goal was 1,956,912 for Cheung Kwok Wing's birthday on September 12 1956. Chan Suk Fun said that over a year ago Mainland fans have already suggested folding origami cranes for a world record. Later they contacted her and applied to the Guinness World record. They wanted to fold 1,956,921 origami cranes, which had the special meaning of the September 12, 1956 birth of a superstar in Hong Kong. The event will run until May 1 and continues to accept origami cranes in order to reach the figure. The examine will examine again to confirm the new record. The exhibition designs had Cheung Kwok Wing's music, stage and movie as themes, its primary colors were Cheung Kwok Wing's favorite red. It had a 6 meter tall Cheung Kwok Wing bust and a giant origami crane in the palm of his hand; behind it the transparent arches had almost 2 million origami cranes with Gor fan's well wishes for Gor Gor from around the world. The "arrival" of the originally veiled Cheung Kwok Wing bust was quite a surprise, as some even broke down in tears. 10 years after Cheung Kwok Wing's passing, Chan Suk Fun was crying when she remembered her late friend in an interview. She said that over these 10 years even thinking about Gor Gor was tough. From preparing this event, counting origami cranes with fans in the past few days, she still felt the hurt when she remembered Gor Gor. Earlier when they were counting origami cranes, a butterfly flew into the venue and seemed to have stopped in the crowd. Fans felt that Gor Gor was cheering them on and even she was touched. Earlier Gor Gor's friend So Sze Wong revealed that she would record for tonight's concert. Gor Gor through a medium delivered a message to comfort his friends. Chan Suk Fun said that this was a beautiful misunderstanding. When she was thinking about the memorial concert content, she thought of the younger fans could only know him from past movie and stage performance; she wanted younger fans to understand why so many people loved Gor Gor and thus she hoped that Gor Gor's good friends would make videos to share that. So Sze Wong earlier agreed but later changed her mind, because she only wanted to say to Gor Gor how she felt and contacted a medium. The rumor led to a misunderstanding. The exhibition included Gor Gor photo books, stage costume collections and the red high heels worn at the concert, some of which Tong Tong loaned for display; also included was a vinyl record and award exhibit. On the second floor was "Leslie's Cafe", opening a coffee shop was Gor Gor's dream. On January 22 1990 Final Encounter concert's final show, Gor Gor promised viewers that night that the ticket stub was good for a cup of coffee at his coffee shop; this exhibition fulfilled the promise, as the stub from that show would be good for a free cup of coffee. The venue also had a souvenir shop with tee shirts, Gor Gor figures, cups, posters, pins and two versions of notebooks for Gor fans. The 12 inch figure that costs HK$1,680, the HK$350 pin and the tote bag were immediately sold out. Originally famous photography Wing Shya (Ha Wing Hong)'s limited edition Gor Gor memorial photo book was to be released as well and it included never before seen photos. Advanced sales have already begun. Earlier the publisher sued Ha Wing Hong over the photo book publishing right, the legal problem made this photo book unable to be released as planned. Chan Suk Fun said that she has not seen this photo book, currently she is waiting for Ha Wing Hong to handle the publishing right lawsuit first. * (2013/03/31) Kelly Chen Wai Lam, Julian Cheung Chi Lam, Leo Ku Kui Ke, Hins Cheung King Hin, the Grasshoppers and other superstars yesterday rehearsed for the Miss You Much Leslie memorial concert. Gei Jai revealed that he will perform START FROM ZERO (YAU LING HOI CHI). "After the rehearsal I was very sentimental, but I would properly control my emotions and sing this song well. I have always had a regret. Years ago when I started as a singer, Gor Gor in many media interviews said that new comer Ku Kui Ke had a lot of potential. Yet I have never had a chance to personally thank him. I will always keep his gift in my heart." Gei Jai said that the stage will be in Gor Gor's favorite color red. He also considered whether to wear a red suit. "For the past month, every night I played Gor Gor's songs until I fell asleep." Kelly put some thought into her clothes and invited Yee Chung Man and Chan Wa Kwok to team up and create an 80s nostalgia dance costume. She said, "An 80s male look, the type with huge shoulder pads. I will sing a series of classic fast songs and the choreography will follow Gor Gor's. I hope everyone would experience not the sorrow but his happiness." Cheung Chi Lam will perform Gor Gor's movie songs, including CHASE (JUI), THIS LIFETIME (GUM SUN GUM SAI) and the duet with Vivian Chow Wai Man WHEN LOVE ALREADY BECAME THE PAST (DONG OI YI SING WONG SI). Will he imitate Gor Gor's singing voice like last time? He said that he has never imitated Gor Gor's singing. Hin Jai said that he was the only guest who has never officially come in contact with Gor Gor and would salute Gor Gor as a fan. "My performance segment will salute both Sister Mui (Anita Mui Yim Fong) and Gor Gor. The costume will bring back a 80s television program classic costume. It's pretty tough because I have never danced by myself. It will be a huge challenge so I took time to rehearse the choreography for a few days." The Grasshoppers declined to reveal the performance content but said that the event theme will be a countdown with Gor Gor. * (2013/03/31) Cable Entertainment News channel produced a special about Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing and shared Gor Gor's life as well as some never before seen videos and Teresa Mo Shun Kwan's interview of Cheung Kwok Wing to talk about his view on film productions and his film dream. Gor Gor admitted that he felt Hong Kong film was less than well rounded. "Hong Kong filmmakers' thinking is too conventional, often they flock to make romance, comedy, mob and other subject films. If I have to pay 50 or 60 bucks to watch a movie, why wouldn't I watch a foreign film?" Mo Mo mentioned that Hong Kong production budget was very low but actor salary remained high. Gor Gor said that his salary was not considered high and revealed that he made a movie for a symbolic dollar. "When Hong Kong economy and film market were at their lowest, I tried to be the pioneer and make a movie without any salary. At the time many Hong Kong Film Award winning famous directors formed a creative alliance together in hopes of making some good movies." However, he said that the creative alliance was not united. "I thought they were selfish, finally they each made their own movies and rushed through them. The results were not as beneficial as expected." He was still enthusiastic about making movies, but later if someone else asked him to make a movie for no salary, he definitely had to have a good script and sincerity to move him. He also admitted that he wanted to win an award, "I don't believe that Cheung Kwok Wing can't win a Grammy award? Maybe one day I will win an foreign actor award." * (2013/03/31) Kenny Bee (Chung Chun To) for his 60th birthday two nights ago held a make up celebration. Fan Geung gave a surprise gift to Ah B. She invited 60 friends to make videos, like Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Maggie Cheung Man Yu, Louis Koo Tin Lok and Nick Cheung Ka Fai; friends sent well wishes and had heart warming words, Ah B was very moved. Two nights ago the birthday party turned into a Chung family mini concert, Ah B's two baby girls Chung Yi and Chung Kwok performed BABY for Papa, Chung Yi performed with Papa WORDS OF PAPA (PAPA DIK WA), the atmosphere was funny and touching. Chung Yi even performed 3 songs by herself. Near the end Ah B performed with Alan Tam Wing Lun, Choi Yat Kit and others. Two nights ago Michael Tse Tin Wa and Niki Chow Lai Kei arrived after the event began. They were late due to a program taping but put on hippie costumes as requested. Jackie Chan arrived in causal clothing and was super late, arriving at midnight to congratulate birthday boy Brother B. Some of the guests have already left by then. Jacky Cheung Hok Yau left early to rest, Carina Lau Ka Ling, Berg Ng Ting Yip, Cheung Ka Fai, Karena Ng Chin yu, Chingmy Yau Suk Ching and Shum Ka Wai left later. Nat Chan Pak Cheung staggered out with Wong Hung Sau, Ron Ng Cheuk Hei was also all red when he left. He even revealed that Eric Tsang Chi Wai was all over the venue. Guests appeared in hippie costumes to compete for HK$30,000 best dressed award. Ah B felt that many friends put some thought into their costumes and finally decided that Yau Suk Ching, Cheung Ka Fai, Anna Ueyama, Chan Kwok Fun and Cecilia Yip Tung would split the prize. * (2013/03/31) The Anthony Wong Chau Sun starred film IP MAN THE FINAL FIGHT (IP MAN JUNG GIK YUT JIN) was released on the 28th, by yesterday afternoon the box office already exceeded 2 million. Chau Sun yesterday personally attended an audience appreciation at a Mongkok cinema. Viewers saw Chau Sun's sudden appearance and could not be more excited, as they flocked to take photos with Chau Sun. Chau Sun was satisfied with the box office and said that the world was a hard place to make a living. He thanked viewers for supporting Hong Kong films and hoped viewers would try to watch movies at the cinemas and enjoy the theater atmosphere, just like why they went out to eat when they could cook at home. Restaurants had the atmosphere. Will he ask his family to support the film? He said, "I would book a show. Because Mother now is not as mobile, I have to push her to the show." His mother supported his previous films. Did she only have compliments? Chau Sun said, "She would say whether it was good or bad, but as she got older the more compliments and less complaints she had. I really want her to watch THE FINAL FIGHT, I don't want to show her those past horribly made ghost films. I am afraid of scaring her." * (2013/03/31) Veteran actor Kong Ngai (originally named Tang Siu Yi) on the 13th passed away due to lung cancer at the age of 81. Yesterday services began at the Universal Funeral Parlor and the funeral took place today. The remain will be transported to the Diamond Hill Crematorium for cremation. The funeral will be a Buddhist ceremony by Soka Gakkai International of Hong Kong as Kong Ngai wished. Because Kong Ngai's family hoped the memorial ceremony will take place in a peaceful and stern atmosphere, only family, friends and Kong Ngai's friends from Soka Gakkai were admitted as the service was not open to the public. Kong Ngai's niece Mrs. Au said that the organization after her uncle's passing presented him with the honorary certificate for his contribution to it. They will burn a copy to him. His ashes will be placed in Hong Kong. She said that Uncle kept an open mind and did not have any unfulfilled wish. After getting sick he was already prepared mentally. Kong Ngai's photo was black and white. On both sides of the altar were floral arrangements from friends like Andy Lau Tak Wa, Lau Ching Wa and Amy Kwok Oi Ming, Adam Cheng Siu Chau, Liza Wang Ming Chuen and Law Kar Ying. A Buddha altar was in the center for chanting service. Anthony Wong Chau Sun came to pay his respect. He said that he and Uncle Kong Ngai worked together many times in TVB and their relationship was decent. Uncle Kong Ngai was very willing to teach the younger generations. Johnnie To Kei Fung praised Uncle Kong Ngai for his professionalism. Did Kong Ngai often yell at people? He said that he was very famous for that, and it was his specialty. Fung So Bo chanted with fellow members of the religion. She said that they have worked together before. He called him Producer Kong. * (2013/03/31) Dior Cheng Yi Kin two days ago attended a SAVING GENERAL YANG (JUNG LIT YEUNG GA JEUNG) audience appreciation with Mainland actor Yu Bo. Ekin said that originally he wanted to take his on screen brothers to Lau Fau Shan for seafood, but because the schedule was too tight he had to abandon the plan to fly to Singapore and continue the promotion two nights ago. Has his wife Yoyo Mung Ka Wai seen the film yet? He said not yet, if he had any ticket he would give them to friends first. Ekin had a lot of confidence in the box office and heard that many people cried after watching it; when he, Yu Bo and the director watched it he cried too. * (2013/03/30) Years ago Willie Chan Chi Keung introduced Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing to Stanley Kwan Kam Peng, who appeared on a Commercial Radio program interview. Kwan Kam Peng said that when he first met Gor Gor he thought he was very arrogant, but after knowing him for awhile he realized it was self confidence. He said that when Gor Gor tossed his hat into the crowd during a singing contest and the audience tossed it back, which made Gor Gor change a lot and motivated him to continue to climb upward. Kwan Kam Peng said that originally ROUGE (YIN JI KAU) did not star Gor Gor. He wanted Adam Cheng Siu Chau and Cherie Chung Chor Hung. Because Chau Guoon did not have time, he considered Lawrence Ng Kai Wa. Kwan Kam Peng said, "Later (Anita) Mui Yim Fong suggested, 'I can ask Leslie. I am a Golden Harvest actress, if Cheung Kwok Wing makes this movie, then I will make one for Cinema City.' Later Mui Yim Fong truly made a movie for Cinema City. Gor Gor and Ah Mui had quite chemistry, a type of hero recognizing hero." On April 1 the program will air interviews with Sandy Lam Yik Lin, Alan Tam Wing Lun, Kit Chan Kit Ling and Karen Mok Man Wai about Gor Gor. Cheung Kwok Wing's personal trainer Chan Yuk Tat earlier in an interview praised Gor Gor as hard working and kind. He learned from Leslie tolerance and the pursuit for perfection. He said that when Gor Gor was exercising, Tong Tong would not be around. They would not appear in the fitness room at the same time. * (2013/03/30) Best Actors Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Nick Cheung Ka Fai star in the new film CONSPIRATORS (TUNG MAU), in which Sing Sing continues to play his THE DETECTIVE (C+ JING TAM) character. This time Sing Sing as usual threw himself into the performance as he personally performed the stunts. Luckily he was not injured. He said, "Earlier when I worked with (Oxide) Pang Shun three times I was hurt and hospitalized every time, with experience this time went very smooth." Working with Cheung Ka Fai for the first time, Sing Sing admitted that they were full of chemistry. Was he worried about having to choose between them for the Best Actor nomination? He said, "I don't think about that too much. (If you are nominated?) Then I would tell him not to think about it too much. I have been there and would share with him. He has won the Hong Kong Film Award before, but I haven't. I am still a rookie, he is a seven time Best Actor. What more could he ask for?" Cheung Ka Fai in the film had to wear a long hair wig. While shooting on location in Malaysia the heat made breathing difficult for him. He revealed that he agreed right away when he learned about the chance to work with Sing Sing and director Pang Shun. He said, "Earlier I made too many police films, I wanted to try other genres." * (2013/03/30) Victor Chen Si Hong and Wylie Chiu Shek Cih two nights ago continued to work on their new film WINTER IS HOPED (DUNG LUEN MONG YUT) at Central. Chen Si Hong brought a maid to work like a young master. When he was not at work the maid stood behind him with full service, while he focused on playing with his phone and replying to messages. He even grinned often. Soon he and Shek Chi took their marks for a romantic scene. On and off camera they were chatting and laughing. * (2013/03/30) The Hong Kong Film award will take place soon. Puyi Optical has already sponsored the event for two years. To coordinate with the film event that the entire city has been waiting for, the brand at the 1881 flagship store displayed a 3.2 meter tall giant goddess award replica and a mock red carpet. This year's Best Actor nominee Tony Leung Ka Fai received jewelry eyewear sponsorship. Earlier he went to visit the store and tried on the elegant LOTOS diamond glasses and metal glasses. Ka Fai joked, "As long as I wore these glasses, the action would naturally become elegant." Earlier in the film COLD WAR (HONG JIN), Ka Fai chose to perform with no frame glasses and radiated an alternative coolness. No wonder he was amazed with the variety at the store! * (2013/03/30) April 1 will be the 10th anniversary of Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing's passing. "Gor fans" from around the world have arrived in Hong Kong to express that they have never forgotten this superstar of a generation after 10 years. "Gor fans" today will witness the birth of a Guinness World Record for the "largest origami crane exhibit". Chan Suk Fun revealed that each of the origami crane that fans around the world have folded has been examined. Hopefully they will reach Gor Gor's birth date September 12, 1956 (1,956,912) so the world could confirm his fans' love for him. Cheung Kwok Wing's manager Chan Suk Fun after completing the perfect funeral at Gor Gor's request 10 years ago, 10 years later although her sorrow remained she organized the Miss you Much Leslie Exhibition and two different format Miss You Much Leslie memorial concerts in order to present a gift to Gor Gor and to return favorite to the fans on behalf of Gor Gor. Fans around the world started an origami crane folding operation to present well wishes to Gor Gor. Mrs. Chan due to fan requests became everyone's organizer to apply for the Guinness World Record of the largest origami crane exhibit with almost 2 million origami cranes. Yesterday was already the final push as fans took turns overnight to complete this marathon of a mission at Times Square. "Gor fans" would like the origami crane number to reach Cheung Kwok Wing's birth date 1,956,912 (September 12, 1956) as a permanent memory, thus everyone put an effort into picking up the baton. Yesterday many overseas fans who just arrived in Hong Kong already rapidly dragged their luggage to Times Square to help. For awhile due to too many fans the venue ran out of chairs. Fans had to sit on the ground but did not mind because everyone had the same belief -- to reach the goal in order to present a gift for Gor Gor. When asked whether the record was within reach, Mrs. Chan said, "Everything will depend of the official Guinness announcement. We look forward to this moment very much. Fans even hoped the origami crane number will be able to reach Gor Gor's birth date. Their love for Leslie truly touched me very much." Mrs. Chan revealed that the Miss You Much Leslie exhibition at Times Square will have an advanced media day today. Tomorrow to May 1 it will be open to the public for them to relive this superstar of a generation's mesmerizing glory. The exhibit theme will be Cheung Kwok Wing's music, stage and movies, the exhibition will have different sections that will not only play Gor Gor's exciting music and movies but also his past show business awards and his costumes on the stage. Last night as the origami crane near its end, fans suddenly roared as they saw a beautiful butterfly danced at the venue for almost 10 minutes. Finally it flew to the giant box where the origami cranes were placed and vanished. Fans were amazed and certain that Gor Gor came to cheer them on in the form of a butterfly. Coincidentally or not, Gor fans were already very moved. Cheung Kwok Wing's career as he said was not always smooth. When he first started he was already jeered. He thought his first film was a comedy but turned out to be a category III film as he was forced to bear the blemish. As for his singing career, Gor Gor ran into two "nemeses", Danny Chan Pak Keung at the beginning and Alan Tam Wing Lung at his career peak. However Gor Gor's personally only made him stronger, he was able to overcome one obstacle after another and reached the top of his career. Yesterday morning, radio host Yu Yi Fat played Cheung Kwok Wing's 1985 MY AUTOBIOGRAPHY radio interview. Gor Gor in first person narrated his childhood, school, love and show business experience. He even told the origin of his rivalry with Chan Pak Keung and the three most important woman in his life. Gor Gor in 1977 began with a RTV singing contest. In 1981 when he joined Capital Artists, released WIND CONTINUES TO BLOW (FUNG GAI JOOK CHUI) he finally began to rise. In 1985 he performed his first solo concert, 10 shows that broke the first time concert show numbers for a singer. At the time Gor Gor's career began to enter its golden age, he remembered that he ran into Chan Pak Keung the first time at a restaurant. Danny took the initiative to come over and told him, "Many people say we are alike." Since then they knew each other. After work Danny would occasionally look for Gor Gor and played for him unreleased songs that he wrote. Gor Gor chose his favorite, which was Danny's claim to fame TEARS ARE SHED FOR YOU (NGAN LUI WAI NEI LAU). Gor Gor admitted that Danny's singing career was above his for a very long time and they were continuously compared. He felt that their competition for fame and fortune was very important. Thus when their film ON TRIAL (SUT YIP SUN) was released he announced to the media that he would never work with Danny again. Gor Gor said, "I don't need to be compared to him again, which would only make both decline. I only need to be compared to yesterday's Cheung Kwok Wing." Since then they never worked together again and only ran into each other occasionally at award shows. Gor Gor even revealed that after joining show business someone of mixed heritage swindled him out of "love and money". He even described the person as a con person. Even his family's money was almost lost. To him it was a huge insult. He gave people love but was hurt by them with it. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Cheung Kwok Wing's passing, Commercial Radio tomorrow and the day after will post two never before shown concerts on their page for "Gor fans" to remember their idols. The two concerts included Cheung Kwok Wing's 2000 903 id club concert and the 2003 Continue Leslie Cheung concert with Alan Tam Wing Lun, Anita Mui Yim Fong, Deanie Ip Tak Han, Sandy Lam Yik Lin, Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Andy Hui Chi On, Karen Mok Man Wai, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Nicholas Tse Ting Fung, Eason Chan Yik Shun and Edison Chen Koon Hei. * (2013/03/30) The Ronny Yu Yun Tai directed, Adam Cheng Siu chau, Dior Cheng Yi Kin, Raymond Lam Fung, Vic Chou Yu Man, Wu Chun, Yu Bo and Fu Xinbo starred film SAVING GENERAL YANG (JUNG LIT YEUNG GA JEUNG) has been promoting nonstop in Hong Kong. Two nights ago a charity premiere took place and yesterday an ultimate ticket autograph session was held as they played games with the audience. Jai Jai helped two female participants who competed in the shooting game, much to the envy of spectating fans. Jai Jai was very convincing with his instruction to the two contestants. He explained that guys like guns. Earlier he had shooting training for a police film. He denied that he gave special treatment to female fans from Japan. "Ekin pushed him out to help. I conversed with her in Japanese. Actually she knew Mandarin and spoke it better than I do." Have they seen Lam Fung's girlfriend Karena Ng Chin Yu on this trip? Wu Chun said, "I know her, we worked together on a movie. We are so busy with the promotion that we don't even see Lam Fung enough." Ekin after the film promotion will perform concerts in Macau and Guangzhou. Ekin revealed that director Yu Yun Tai had an idea to make a modern version of the film. They were all interested because they had a lot of fun while working together. However, they might not be horse riding heroes again. They might drive hot cars. He said, "I too want to drive a hot car because I am reluctant to buy one. My dream car is an electric sports car, which already exists overseas. The Hong Kong government is too slow as it still has not equipment like charging station and meter, so it's not available in Hong Kong yet." * (2013/03/30) The two show Michael Hui Koon Man stand up comedy war of the genders added material edition two nights ago kicked off at the Hong Kong City Hall. During the performance, Hui Koon Man's grandchildren presented flower on the stage and even danced Gangnam Style with him. Their relationships were very harmonious. Hui Koon Man even joked about the difference between the genders and taught ways for them to get along. Although before the show he had the flu and his voice was still hoarse, he was satisfied with his first show. The most meaningful was being able to help Mainland cataract sufferers. The first show raised over HK$3.8 million for the charity organization Project Vision, at least 10,000 Mainland cataract patients will benefit; Hui Koon Man said that the sum not only will be able to help the patients but also the medical equipment transport and instructing local doctors on their use. Saving one person meant reducing the burden on the entire family. He said that after two shows he will not perform more for now. He performed for interest and hoped to do so once a year. After years away from him, he revealed that in July he will work on Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum)'s new film and play Wong Cho Nam's boss. * (2013/03/30) Kenny Bee (Chung Chun To) turned 60 on February 23. He revealed that he would have a series of celebrations. After traveling with friends, last night he held a belated party at the Aberdeen Marine Club with a hippies theme. Friends including Carina Lau Ka Ling, Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Alan Tam Wing Lun, Tony Leung Ka Fai and his wife, Chingmy Yau Suk Ching, Choi Yat Kit, Nat Chan Pak Cheung and Wong Hung Sau all attended; the prettiest dress would receive HK$30,000. Ah B said that since he had the strength, endurance and hair he wanted to do as much as he wanted. As for his wedding it will take place next year at the soonest, his fiance will decide everything. Ah B, girlfriend Fan Geung and daughters Chung Ka Ching, Chung Yi and Chung Kwok appeared first in hippie looks. Ah B said, "Tonight's dress code is hippies. The prettiest dressed will receive HK$30,000. I will judge, in my heart of course I feel Chung Yi is the best." He chose to celebrate last night because last month Alan was performing a concert in the Mainland. Unfortunately even so not all the Wynners members were able to attend. Chan Pak Cheung presented six bottles of red wine and six bottles of whiskey to Ah B for good luck. Chi Wai will turn 60 next month as well. He described his style as casual hippie and joked, "Winning or not is minor, being made fun of is a big deal. I come to congratulate Brother B reaching six(ty), I wish Brother B happiness. I had a very tough time finding bell bottoms. The company didn't have a pair that was so short. I wanted to borrow from Wong Cho Nam but I wasn't as thin. Tonight I have to conserve my energy, I can't be drunk sooner than Brother B." Alan arrived with Ron Ng Cheuk Hei. Alan was jokingly asked if he borrowed his clothes from his mother. He laughed and said, "Definitely not my Ma. (Will Ah B or Chi Wai be drunk first?) Brother B watches himself and probably won't fall. Chi Wai overestimates himself and is already up there in age." * (2013/03/29) Chrissie Chau Sau Na yesterday continued to work on her new film with Cheuk Wan Chi and producer Wong Wing Fung, BAU 3 CHIU GIU WA (EXPLOSIVE 3 ANGELS) at the To Kwa Wan Cattle Depot. She worked on a challenge scene with two junior colleagues DaDa Lo Chung Chi and Hidy Yu Hiu Tung. Although Sister Chau successfully subdued her two junior colleagues with moves like arm lock, head lock and leg sweeps, during rehearsal she accidentally kicked a metal rank. She was in so much pain that her face cringed as she doubled over. Bruised all over due to fight scenes, she joked that she had "steel beam legs". Did her opposite sex friends' hearts ache? She said, "None of the production's men had heartaches for me, but if I hinder the production progress then their hearts would truly ache." Yesterday was Cheuk Wan Chi's birthday. The team brought out a cake to surprise her. Cheuk Wan Chi instead gave a pair of "grandma pajamas" to Sister Na. Cheuk Wan Chi said, "I gave her a pair of HK$ pajamas that my grandma gave me for this scene, I hope her body odor isn't too strong!" Sister Na who changed into the "grandma pajamas" said, "Truly I fell in love at first try, I would ask her to give me a few more pairs." * (2013/03/29) Ronny Yu Yun Tai recently turned to Chinese film and directed the film SAVING GENERAL YANG (JUNG LIT YEUNG GA JEUNG) with handsome guys like Dior Cheng Yi Kin, Raymond Lam Fung, Vic Chou Yu Man, and Wu Chun. He admitted that through the interaction in the film he wanted to brought the message of benevolence and reminded the outside to remember this beautiful tradition of China. As for casting, Yu Yun Tai said that before the shoot he met each one of the hunks. The quiet Jai Jai even received his "special treatment" and only had 4 lines of dialogue in the entire film. Yu Yun Tai joked, "When I met with Jai Jai in Taipei, during the entire process he only spoke 3 sentences. However this was what I wanted. Because he played a sniper, he had to be very cool and his eyes had to be very sharp. Jai Jai had such a feeling, so I told him to be himself." Ekin's big brother role ran into numerous obstacles, but because of a variety of problems Ekin returned to big brother role again. Yu Yun Tai even revealed that Wu Chun suffered from the "worst pain for a man". He said, "In some scenes Wu Chun rode a horse with (Adam) Cheng Siu Chau behind him. The saddle had a piece of metal in front. Every time Chau Guoon bumped forward Wu Chun would scream, because he was very uncomfortable (lower body). Later the team adjusted the saddle a little and Wu Chun was more comfortable." Did Lam Fung's girlfriend Karena Ng Chin Yu visit the set? He said, "Who is she? At that time she wasn't! (What about Mavis Pan?) No, but every son had a lot of fans. They were still very focused on the set though." * (2013/03/29) Andrew Lau Wai Keung yesterday attended the bulthaup kitchen counter press conference. He has been cooking since he was little. When he worked with Sammo Hung Kam Bo and Eric Tsang Chi Wai, he took the time to learn cooking from them. His best dish was fried rice and was known for abalone. "Cooking abalone is very tough. When I first learned to (Philip) Chan Yun Kin criticized the abalone was like a eraser; after studying more now everyone praise it." Lau Wai Keung's birthday will be next Thursday, he as usual would celebrate with friends in the business. Lau Wai Keung earlier attended a casting in New York for his foreign film. The cast has been set, as soon as the budget was approved it would start production. This year he will even producer the Wong Jing directed, Chow Yun Fat, Nicholas Tse Ting Fung starred gambling film that will shoot in Hong Kong, Macau and the U.S. * (2013/03/29) Gor Gor Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing once said, "As long as when you mention the 80s and the 90s show business from now you still remember Cheung Kwok Wing, then I am already satisfied!" For 10 years, his name has not been forgotten due to his passing. As "his own person" who battled shoulder to shoulder with him for years, Chan Suk Fun wants more than for people to remember Gor Gor. This was only a more conservative way of speaking. Gor Gor still wanted everyone to miss him and love him, thus starting last year she already started preparing a gift for Gor Gor. On March 31 and April 1 two different format MISS YOU MUCH memorial concerts at the Hong Kong Coliseum, returning on behalf of Gor Gor a gift for never leaving and abandoning him over the years to fans. R: Reporter, C: Chan Suk Fun R: This time the two different format memorial concerts have already been sold out long ago. Earlier he never revealed which artist would perform, until recently we started to learn about Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Vivian Chow Wai Man, Kelly Chen Wai Man, Anthony Wong Yiu Ming, Karen Mok Man Wai, Joey Yung Cho Yi and other singers. Always rumored was Gor Gor's HAPPY TOGETHER (CHUN GUONG JA SIT) superstar co-star Tony Leung Chiu Wai, right? C: Yes, this time I truly have to thank Leung Chiu Wai. He and Leslie were truly good friends, whether Gor Gor was still alive or passed away, Gor Gor would always remain in his heart. This time every guest performer had a strong connection to Gor Gor. Very early on I already personally wrote letters to invite them. Wai Jai not only agreed right away but also only said, "Everything is waiting for your arrangement." During the run down, even if his performance had partial change, Wai Jai's answer was just "I will follow your arrangement!" He never made any special request. He only wanted to do something to remember this good friend. Wai Jai truly was a good friend of Gor Gor. R: Wai Jai's performance won't be just singing a song? C: I don't want to reveal the performance too soon, hopefully everyone would watch it then. Because if some contents have been revealed, the show would lose its completeness. That night not only several thousand viewers would be able to enjoy the show live, TVB, Radio Hong Kong, Commercial Radio and Metro will broadcast it either live or on the next day. Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, England, the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand will also have simultaneous broadcast at 10PM Hong Kong time. The Mainland will be able to watch the concert on the Jiangsu Satellite channel and iQIYI.COM. Taiwan and Japan will have live broadcast at cinemas. Hopefully any place around the world with Gor Gor fans would have a chance to enjoy it. Shu Qi Holds Back Tears When Recording Her Video R: Will the April 1 fan club gathering have many Gor Gor's good friend interview videos? C: Because truly many friends loved Gor Gor and since this gathering is for Gor Gor's friends to remember him together, over 20 of Gor Gor's good friends recorded videos and talked about their lives with him so even more of Gor Gor's loyal fans and even "post Wing fans" (fans who liked him after his passing) would understand more about Gor Gor. For example they included (Cherie) Chung Chor Hung, Shu Qi, and (Carina) Lau Ka Ling. Shu Qi held back her tears because when she was still a newcomer she and Gor Gor worked together on VIVA EROTICA (SIK CHING NAM NUI). Gor Gor admired her talent very much and even gave her the chance to be his concert guest on the Hong Kong Coliseum stage. He wanted to introduced her to everyone. When Shu Qi told this story she fought back her tears. R: Mrs. Chan, you truly have presented many gifts for Gor Gor? C: Although 10 years wasn't a long time, it definitely wasn't a short time either. Yet my emotions now still haven't settled, and I believe that I would never forget. I think that this event will be the final public Gor Gor memorial event, it shouldn't be done all the time. Thus this time I tried to please the fans as much as possible, I even hoped that Gor Gor in Heaven would appreciate my intention. Conversing with Gor Gor For 10 Hours In A Dream R: Mrs. Chan, over the 10 years have you seen Gor Gor in your dreams? Did he say anything to you? C: For a period I constantly dreamed of Gor Gor, then for a long time I didn't. The most memorable time was a very long dream. I was taking a long distance flight back to Hong Kong. For the entire 10 hours on the plane I was with Gor Gor, we kept chatting. Now I still remember over 70% of the conversation in the dream with him. Very realistically and the most wonderfully he told in the dream that because of a reason he would not come to find me for a long time. After that I truly never dreamed of him for a long time. The reason that he told me later truly happened, but because it was a secret between me and Gor Gor, I can't reveal what the reason was. Ultimately my own experience was very real. Leslie Helps Inspiring Publicizing The Message R: Earlier Mrs. Chan you said that you would publicize a message at the concert. Later it was rumored that this message was Gor Gor's final words and speculated as a text message or a conversation in a dream. Actually what does this message represent? C: I can't explain it in a few words. I spent a lot of time and still didn't know how to express it and tell others, I can only say that this truly happened to me. It truly was crystal clear. If I can express it I would have publicized it a long time ago. When I was preparing for the concert, I felt that Leslie gave me an inspiration to use this method of expression at the concert. Hopefully that night everyone would be able to understand, I have already done my best to express it. Unforgettable Pain, No Interest To Organize Memorial Events Again R: If you want to say something to Gor Gor, what would you say to him? C: (thought for several seconds as her eyes turned red) I would tell him "Leslie thank you", which already included a lot. He would understand. R: You helped Gor Gor and even a group of late friends in the business and truly has given a lot. C: I didn't really help much, fate goes this way and it can't be changed. Mrs. Chan and fans who loved Leslie would miss him more than 10, 20, or 50 years. This longing truly is unbroken and without an end date! PASSION CONCERT, Forefront of Trend Gor Gor since his first Leslie Cheung Summer Concert in 1985 to his final PASSION Concert in 2000 performed 8 major concerts over 15 years, more than half were in collaboration with Mrs. Chan. To Mrs. Chan, her favorite was the 1989 Farewell To Music concert. The most memorable was the 2000 Passion Concert; because this concert's content was controversial. Gor Gor appeared with long hair. Some people before listening to what he sang or performed already defined it as "Cheung Kwok Wing in a woman's disguise". The entire concert content became unimportant, the most important became "Cheung Kwok Wing in a woman's disguise". Mrs. Chan said, "I truly was very frustrated, how could those criticism be so limited? I am someone who can accept criticism, but it has to be objective and fair. Gor Gor wasn't pretending to be a woman, how could long hair with their personal thinking define the concert? At the time I worked very hard to overturn it. Luckily viewers' eyes were crystal clear. They learned to appreciate it. Luckily it still had fair and objective media that were the voice of justice for the Passion Concert, they even asked fashion designers to analyze Gor Gor's entire concert. It was a transformation from an angel to a demon." This concert even 10 years later remained in the forefront of trend and left Mrs. Chan with a connection that could not be erased. Unfulfilled Director Dream In Life Three days before Cheung Kwok Wing's passing, the reporter spoke with Gor Gor over the phone once. At the time Gor Gor was enjoying afternoon tea with Mrs. Chan. Mrs. Chan handed the phone over to Gor Gor. Gor Gor whose voice at the time was still a little hoarse due to acid reflux happily told me, "I will soon record another record, I am even thinking about directing a movie. Now the condition has improved a lot!" How could the reporter believe that three days later when hearing about the news of Gor Gor's death? The question that was asked repeatedly in the mind was "Why?" Mrs. Chan said, "Because of Gor Gor, I started to understand depression. Actually this illness would not get better just with medication. Although this ending was not something that anyone would want to happen, 10 years ago everyone was very confused about this illness. No one dared to tell their family that they had depression. Now they would not worried about it as a hidden illness, they would actively treat it. Thus Gor Gor did something great for everyone." Gor Gor's unfulfilled dream in life was to be a director. Mrs. Chan said, "If he was still alive, he might have already directed many movies. Thus this time I added a director's chair for Gor Gor's figure, and completing a dream that we thought was unfulfilled for him!" Strong Woman Struggles To The End For A Good Friend The impression that Mrs. Chan gave everyone was a strong woman. The reporter thought that her "strength" was not just in her career, but what she did for friends. Someone else definitely would not be able to do it. Her good friends Cheung Kwok Wing, Fei Jeh (Lydia Shum Din Ha), Roman Tam (Law Man), Uncle Jim (James Wong Jim) all passed away one after another. She was not only heart broken but also had to arrange for her good friends' funerals; when a friend was ailing, she gave even more time to take care of him or her. Watching one friend's passing after another, the reporter asked Mrs. Chan, "Do you have depression?" She answered in less than a second, "Of course not, because from Leslie having this illness I started to understand the cause of this illness. I tried to urge friends to keep an open mind." Misunderstood Because of Fei Jeh Sometimes she would be misunderstood for what she did for her friends, but as long as a friend asked she would struggle to the end; after Fei Jeh got sick, some friends blamed Mrs. Chan for not letting them see Fei Jeh. Mrs. Chan said, "Honestly, Fei Jeh had many buddies who played, ate and played mahjong with her. They definitely saw Fei Jeh more than I did, but because this group of friends only saw Fei Jeh's happy side, when Fei Jeh got sick she loved her friends too much for them to see her thin, listless and ailing. She only wanted to share with them the "happy nut" in the eyes of her friends. On the other hand Big Amy (late director Chang Cheh's wife) and I became her companions. I remembered at the time I had to work on a concert tour, but every time I returned to Hong Kong, as soon as I turned on my mobile phone I definitely would receive a call from Fei Jeh. She said that she cooked a lot of good food and told me to go to her home to eat." Mrs. Chan began to choke up, "You can imagine how bored she was, she had to call many times before finding me. Later I took all the work to either her home and to the hospital, I kept an eye on her all the time. Sometimes when she woke up and came to the living room to check on me, chatted a little then lay down in peace, because she didn't have to pretend to be spirited in front of many friends. Actually every time after friends visited her, she would be exhausted. I just helped Fei Jeh with letting everyone remember her happiest side and it was enough." * (2013/03/29) Adam Cheng Siu Chau, Dior Cheng Yi Kin, Raymond Lam Fung, Vic Chou Yu Man, Yu Bo and others last night attended the film SAVING GENERAL YANG (JUNG LIT YEUNG GA JEUNG)'s global premiere. The actors were changed into suits. Lam Fung and Chau Guoon's fans showed up and raised signs in support of their idols, but no one expected Chau Guoon's housewife fans shouted down Lam Fung's. Chau Guoon joked that he would have to give away throat drops to fans as rewards. SAVING GENERAL YANG's actors yesterday under the leadership of director Ronny Yu Yun Tai attended the film premiere at the Tsim Sha Tsui Cultural Center. They put on white suits and looked handsome, attracting many fans to show their support. Chau Guoon and Lam Fung had the best fans, both sides screamed in an attempt to try to drown out the other side's voices. Finally Chau Guoon's housewife fans crushed the "Fung fans" and successfully won a battle for their idol. Speaking of being more popular than Lam Fung, Chau Guoon joked, "Really? Maybe Lam Fung doesn't know to buy throat drops for fans. I will make it up to them later. Actually I am very happy to be with a big group of younger guys." He admitted that the shoot was very tough, as he had to ride a real horse for the shoot and wield a Guan blade as a weapon. He could only tightly wrapped his legs around the saddle. Which "son" was able to success his heroics? Chau Guoon said, "The men have different styles, but my daughter really likes Jai Jai. Originally I planned to bring her to the premiere, but finally I didn't have a chance to bring her to see her idol. I can only wait for the next time. (Jai Jai has a girlfriend.) That's no big deal, fans should love idols, and idols should cherish their fans." Lam Fung, Ekin and Jai Jai also graciously invited their other halves to watch the film. Lam Fung learned from reporters about Karena Ng Chin Yu's show booking in support. He could not help but sweetly smiled and said, "She of course has to support it, but I may not be able to watch it with her because later I have to return to the Mainland for a series. Everyone were busy with their work. If we have time we would have dinner in Hong Kong." Ekin would invite his wife Yoyo Mung Ka Wai to watch the movie together. Reportedly his mother particularly spoils Yoyo, which Ekin admitted. Wu Chun praised how strong Ekin's waist was. In the film he was able to avoid the danger of falling off a horse. Jai Jai continued to avoid talking about his romance and only clarified that he was not living with his girlfriend Reen Yu. Reporters suggested for his girlfriend not to appear on the balcony again to avoid any misunderstanding. He joked, "Thank you everyone for the reminder. We are not sneaking around, we are out in the open." * (2013/03/29) Wylie Chiu Shek Chi recently worked on the film WINTER IS HOPED (DUNG LUEN MONG YUT) and often got physical in the busy city streets. Two nights ago she and Victor Chen Si Hong who has not made a movie in Hong Kong for a long time worked on the film. Chiu Shek Chi had a bruised make up look, walking back and forth on the road; Chiu Shek Chi even took a knife to her neck and finally she even had to play dead on the street. She had a rare actor ethics and was not afraid of getting dirty, so the shoot was completed very quickly. However, later Chiu Shek Chi asked the director online why she played dead but did not receive any laisee for the dead? She did not realize until it was too late. * (2013/03/29) The micro movie DOH BO KEI HONG yesterday held a production start ceremony on a cruise liner. Responsible for the film promotion, Wong Jing's daughter Ada Wong Chi Hom said that she still had a month before graduation. Then she planned to work in public relations. Wong Chi Hom joked that Papa was afraid that she would mess up his business so he would not let her help. Did she want to work on Papa's movies? Interested in on screen appearance she said, "Yes, but his movies are very sexy. I don't have anything to show. Papa wouldn't let me be sexy? Which Papa doesn't love his daughter, I am insignificant in comparison to other girls." Wong Chi Hom said that the she appeared in a bikini in the film BEAUTY AND THE 7 BEASTS (CHUT KUM CHUT JUNG CHUT SIK LONG), underwear was her bottom line; yet with a good script that had potential, she would not mind performing in the buff. * (2013/03/29) The Wong Kar Wai produced and released, vision impaired genius pianist Huang Yu-Siang starred Taiwan film TOUCH OF THE LIGHT two nights ago held a charity premiere. He praised the film as touching. "In the film, Mama raised Yu-Siang to be independent. Yu-Siang and Cheung Yung Yung (Sandrine Pinna)'s dream chasing was very, very touching, but the most touching was the ending, which made the entire matter even more real and is what I want everyone to pay attention to." Guest Francis Ng Chun Yu shared his parenthood tips. He joked that he loved to strike at his son's self confidence. When his son was being bullied on the playground, he would relax, let him resolve his own problems and train him to be independent. He said, "Everyone gets picked on, you have to see how he resolves it. Afterward I would discuss this with my son and tell him not to cause any conflict, learn to be smarter. When he runs into someone getting pushed he has to duck away." He felt that no one should spoil their son due to the recent family tragedies in Hong Kong. Liu Kai Chi felt that he was an improved father. He used to feel that a father had to be respected and forced his son to follow his orders. When they had friction he would explosively hit the wall and use strict terms. Although he did not use physical punishment it was still unhealthy. He said, "After my wife spoke to me, I learned to respect my son and talk it out. I also no longer object to my son joining show business in the future." Liu Kai Chi's wife Chan Man Yi created a charity organization to provide parent educational services. The premiere also benefited the organization and HK$350,000 was raised. Tang Chi Fung donated HK$100,000 on behalf of the Hong Kong Artist Golf Association. * (2013/03/29) Taiwan film WILL YOU STILL LOVE ME TOMORROW's Shih Chin-Hang (Stone) and Kimi Hsia Yu-Chiao yesterday attended the film forum. Lead actress Mavis Fan Hiu Huen was absent due to illness. Producer Lee Lieh said that the rise of Taiwan film relied on years of painstaking persistence. She has always liked to cast new actors. Stone caught her eye because he was someone who was able to make women trust him. She believed that he would not blindly fool a woman and thus chose him to be the film's "tragic male". Stone joked, "I hope my wife know about this so she would believe that I haven't lied to her. Actually I have been able to maintain such a long relationship with my wife completely because of mutual trust." Stone was very happy to work with Hsia Yu-Chiao again. When May Day started, she worked on their music video. Stone said, "At the time we were very young, everyone was very shy and didn't dare to greet each other. Now when we act we would hug and make intimate scenes without any embarrassment. The entire collaboration felt very happy. Chiao Chiao is very lively. During the collaboration I learned that she actually knew how to write songs, her music was very amazing." Speaking of good friend Joe Chen Chiao-En's recent rumor with Louis Koo Tin Lok, Wallace Huo, and Michelle Chen, Hsia Yu-Chiao said, "I don't know, I haven't asked her about the rumor. I don't know Koo Tin Lok either." * (2013/03/28) Victor Chen Si Hong recently has been working in the Mainland. Earlier he returned to Hong Kong to work with Wylie Chiu Shek Chi on his first Hong Kong film, in WINTER IS HOPED (DONG LUEN MONG YUT) they played a couple. Earlier they worked on their new film in Tuen Mun. Aside from romantic scenes, they even had a "fight" scene. Shek Chi and Chen Si Hong were upset, pushing and pulling each other. Shek Chi even slapped him on the chest and his face. Chen Si Hong struck back and busted a glass over Shek Chi's forehead. The glass busting scene even had several bad takes. Shek Chi said afterward that her forehead had a few more bumps. She said, "My head is a little swollen and hurts if I press it, but for work it's not important. I slapped him once. Initially we tested our mark so we weren't worried eye injury." Speaking of Chen Si Hong appeared only in underwear, she did not feel awkward. "At home many people are dressed like this, I would sleep in the nude so it wasn't awkward. I would have a bed scene with him, but because of the film rating issue it won't be topless." Chen Si Hong revealed that he only took the film because a good friend invited him. Speaking of performing in his underwear, he said that he only found out before the shoot. As for the fight with Shek Chi, he said that he did not hold back. "Right, no one held back. For the film it's no big deal." * (2013/03/28) Taiwan stars Mavis Fan Hiu Huen, Stone and Hong Kong actor Stephen Wong Kar Lok two nights ago attended their film WILL YOU STILL LOVE ME TOMORROW premiere. With many friends in Hong Kong, Fan Hiu Huen said that she did not invite Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi. "I feel too embarrassed to invite her, I am shy and nervous." Speaking of Taiwan film's recent box office success, did she have any expectation for her new film? Fan Hiu Huen said that she did not want to give herself too much pressure but was very happy that everyone liked Taiwan film. Aside from making movies, Fan Hiu Huen revealed that she was busy with her new record that will be released in September or October. * (2013/03/28) The Anthony Wong Chau Sun starred film IP MAN THE FINAL FIGHT (IP MAN JUNG GIK YUT JIN) has been invited to be the opening film at the Vietnam Hong Kong Film Festival. He and director Herman Yau Lai To attended the forum at Ho Chi Minh City. Chau Sun received an enthusiastic welcome. He said, "Seemingly the Vietnamese audience likes my performance very much, I have to prepare to explore the Vietnamese market." * (2013/03/28) The 10th anniversary of Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing's passing is 5 days ago. In the past 3650 days, aside from fans his beloved Daffy Tong Hok Tak and his manager Chan Suk Fun missed Gor Gor the most. Gor Gor left his final affairs in life for Mrs. Chan to handle, but over 10 years no one neither asked nor dared to whether back then how she was able to withstand this painful ending? 10 years later, Mrs. Chan spoke about her endless love with Gor Gor. Gor Gor and Tong Tong's intimate photo is also unveiled. 10 years ago on April Fool's Day April 1, everyone wished that it was only a joke but they must admit the fact that Cheung Kwok Wing has chosen to bid his farewell to the world. On that day, Chan Suk Fun originally planned to meet with Gor Gor at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel but received a call. Gor Gor told her that to wait for him to come downstairs at the hotel in 5 minutes. Mrs. Chan felt uneasy. Before Gor Gor arrived, she only heard a loud bang. Subconsciously she went over to the ambulance to find out the answer that she did not want to be true. After that, she handled the remaining matter for this superstar of a generation. That scene was not easy to forget in 10 years and she has not been able to either. C: Chan Suk Fun, R: Reporter Final Affair R: Mrs. Chan, it's been 10 years. No one has ever asked. Have your emotions been settled? C: Of course not. As long as Gor Gor is mentioned, that emotion comes. It can't be forgotten. R: We understand that Gor Gor trusted Tong Tong and you the most in his life. Because he even left the final journey in his life to you, your relationship is already a relative. C: If I am said to be a relative, I feel the term "our own people" would be more suitable. Because we were on the same boat, "our own people" who were intimate and shoulder to shoulder in battle. Our memories are truly numerous. Absolutely No Third Party R: Gor Gor asked you to handle his final journey in life and not Tong Tong. Reportedly a third party appeared between Gor Gor and Tong Tong and upset Gor Gor. Was that true? C: Absolutely no third party appeared. Their relationship has always been great. He always worried the most about what would happen to Tong Tong if something happened to him. Their relationship did not change. Gor Gor left the matter to me because he deeply believed that only I was able to be strong enough to organize his perfect funeral. Looking Back Together, With the Same Smile and Look Mrs. Chan almost broke down over the entire matter. When she thought of Leslie watching her handling his funeral, she firmly held onto this belief to complete the most perfect period for her "own person". Mrs. Chan even displayed a very memorable photo of Tong Tong and Gor Gor. In the photo they both looked back, with the same smile, look and gesture. The reporter also lamented "Does the world truly have a couple with such chemistry?" Although now only Tong Tong is left, actually they have already become one long ago. Tong Tong back then wrote "Everything comes to an end, this unbroken love has no end" to remember Gor Gor. 10 years later he quoted Su Shi's OF JINLING. "Ten years living and dead have drawn apart, I do nothing to remember but I cannot forget. Life is unpredictable, only love is forever. Let us continue to miss Cheung Kwok Wing. Tong Hok Tak". The few words were actually the memory of Tong Tong spending 3650 nights alone over 10 years. For this 10th anniversary, he chose this photo for the Miss You Much Leslie notebook to share with you who love Gor Gor. * (2013/03/28) For the 10th anniversary of Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing (Gor Gor)'s passing, memorial activities have begun. Gor Gor's partner and friend Chan Siu Bo, designer Chan Yau Kin and official make up artist Eunice Wong yesterday attended the Final Encounter Leslie Cheung 10th Anniversary Commemorative Activities and displayed Gor Gor's classic records, concert tickets and other items. Chan Siu Bo shared his experience of working with Gor Gor. "When Gor Gor recorded NO INTENTION TO SLEEP (MO SUM SHUI MIN), he insisted on recording in Japan. Finally Chan Suk Fun thought of a good idea for him to participate in the Tokyo Music Festival and record there as well." Chan Siu Bo said that Gor Gor called him before his passing in 2003. "At the time he wasn't feeling well. Our contract was about to come to an end and he still owed a record. He said that he definitely would deliver the new record to me; because he wasn't feeling well, the final record's songs were edited from different recording versions. They differed from the past recording of an entire song." Has Gor Gor discussed his sexual orientation before he made it public? Chan Siu Bo said, "No, when he reached that stage, he really wanted people to know because at the time there were a lot of speculations. He was a very daring person, with sexual orientation, retirement, he would call me and ask if I saw them after he made them public like a little kid." Chan Yau Kin's first record cover for Gor Gor was YI PIAN CHI. He said, "At the time we were pretty much the same size, so I loaned the vest, bow tie, shirt and pants to him. He also made dinner for me." He found the vest that he loaned Gor Gor to be displayed at the event. Speaking of the day of Gor Gor's passing, Chan Yau Kin remembered it like it was yesterday. "At the time I was in Shanghai, after I received the bad news I didn't believe it." Chan Yau Kin said that before Gor Gor's passing they already had little contact. "Everyone want to hide themselves before something sudden happens and don't want to talk about it." Speaking of not having an official place for fans to pay their respect, Chan Yau Kin said, "No, everyone has an important place in their hearts for Gor Gor. They can remember him from looking at pictures, they don't have to pay their respect. Many fans would go to the Mandarin Oriental coffee shop in hopes that Gor Gor would appear. I am one of them." Speaking of Gor Gor's supposed huge inheritance to his beloved daffy Tong Hok Tak, Chan Siu Bo and Chan Yau Kin both said that they were not familiar with Tong Tong. * (2013/03/28) To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing (Gor Gor)'s passing, Chan Suk Fun organized a series of events for fans around the world to come to Hong Kong and remember their idol. Originally scheduled for today, the FINAL COUNTER Leslie Cheung 10th anniversary commemorative activities and the 2 million origami crane display that will apply for a Guinness World Record will be postponed until the 30th as the authorities cautiously calculated the origami crane amount. In the past 10 years, Japanese fans every year would present thousand origami crane to express their love for Cheung Kwok Wing. This year the origami crane theme was Casablanca. Reportedly perfume lily was Cheung Kwok Wing's favorite flower, representing elegance and noble love. Japanese fans this time folded 3650 origami cranes to represent the 3650 days of the past 10 years. Gor Gor's hearts and fans' love would always be pure. On April 2 they would present the origami crane to Po Fok Hill to their idol. The MISS YOU MUCH memorial concert will take place Sunday (March 31). Performers continued to appear for rehearsal. They included the Grasshoppers, Karen Mok Man Wai, Anthony Wong Yiu Ming, Leo Ku Kui Ke, William So Wing Hong and Hins Cheung King Hin. * (2013/03/28) The 32nd Hong Kong Film Award will take place on April 13 at the Cultural center. 28 Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best New Performer nominees posed for the program group photo. Nominated for Best Actor with THE BULLET VANISHES (SIU SUT DIK JI DAN), Lau Ching Wan was placed in the most eye catching spot as he dominantly spread his leg next to COLD WAR (HONG JIN)'s Tony Leung Ka Fai and NIGHTFALL (DAI JUI BO)'s Nick Cheung Ka Fai; THE SILENT WAR (TING FUNG JEH)'s Tony Leung Chiu Wai gave an "exceptional chok look" as he sat in front, smiling and holding his head. VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KET)'s Chapman To Man Jat stood in the second row, solid and steady. Best Actress nominees ROMANCING IN THIN AIR (GO HOI BUT JI LUEN II)'s Sammi Cheng Sau Man, LOVE IN THE BUFF (CHUN GIU YU JI MING)'s Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, THE SILENT WAR and THE GREAT MAGICIAN (DAI MOR SHOOK SI)'s Zhou Xun, LOVE LIFTING (GO GUI OI)'s Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam were in the center. Sitting in the front row Sammi wore a simple white dress that showed off her legs and shoulders, standing in the center Yeung Chin Wa also stole the spotlight with her shoulders. The event announced the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient to be director Ng See Yuen. His contribution to promote Hong Kong film could not be overlooked as Hong Kong film broke into the Mainland market with its endless potential. The Professional Spirit Award will go to two recipients, the veteran film printing master Ms. Lui Lai Wa and Mr. Ko Tin Chau. Best Actress nominee Kong Yeuk Lam and Best Supporting Actress nominee DaDa Chan Jing yesterday attended the press conference. They agreed that they were busy looking for clothes and staying in shape for the award show. Kong Yeuk Lam has already dropped to 100 pounds, while DaDa remained at 115 pounds. Thus yesterday she dressed conservatively. She said, "I would go without a bra as requested. I hope to be thinner through exercise, even if my chest shrinks I wouldn't mind." Kong Yeuk Lam praised DaDa's great figure. She said, "For my first Best Actress nomination, I don't know whether I will have a next time. So I have to appear at my best." * (2013/03/28) A COMPLICATED STORY (YUT GOR FOOK JAP DIK GOO SI) two nights ago held its premiere. Deanie Ip Tak Han guest starred for free. She said, "This film is about money, love and lust, clearing reminding young people the difference between love and lust. People are afraid of loneliness and really want to have someone around them. Often they become unhappy couples. Watching Hollywood films of the past 20 years, very strangely the leads after meeting a day would go to bed. I feel that would affect young people. They should protect themselves." Would Ip Tak Han support film as a guest star? She said it would depend of the director and the subject. Although she would gladly accept challenges she would not accept anything too excessive, for example she would not possibly make a sex film. Has anyone invited her? Ip Tak Han said, "Of course not, but the deranged may want to see a senior. I don't dare to perform that." * (2013/03/28) The 39 year old Ada Choi Siu Fun on March 25 at the Canossa Hospital (Carita) at the Peak gave birth to her second daughter. Yesterday Ada's husband Max Zhang Jun posted the good news online. Zhang Ziyi even went to the hospital to hold that chubby baby girl. The Zhang family of four looked very happy. Zhang Jun posted the good news online yesterday. "The Zhang family adds a new member, Mrs. on March 25 safely gave birth to a healthy and beautiful little daughter. A woman carrying a child for ten months is no easy task, how wonderful life is, thank you God!" He posted a photo of his family of four. The little daughter was asleep in her father's strong arm. Ada held their older daughter Chor Yi who looked exactly like her. Chor Yi was born in May 2011, a super giant baby who weighed 9 pounds and 4 ounces. Yesterday Zhang Jun did not reveal his younger daughter's weight, but she looked rather hefty and at least 8 pounds. Ada accepted everyone's congratulations and humorously congratulated her husband. She posted online, "Mr. Zhang congratulations! Three beauties under one roof! You are the happiest!" The mother of two Ada did not forget to praise her own beauty! After Ada gave birth, her good friend Monica Chan Fat Yung visited at the hospital. She praised the little baby was soft, fat and big eyed, another beauty for the Zhang family. In THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI) Gong Er and Ma San fought all over, privately they were good friends. Zhang Ziyi also went to the hospital to hold the baby. She posted online a photo of her holding the second daughter of the Zhang family with Zhang Jun and Ada and wrote, "Some moment that makes me feel especially happy is watching my friends bathing in happiness. Congratulation Your Majesty The Queen on the Princess! Ma San, if you don't take good care of Choi Siu Fun, the Gong Clan's Eight Trigram Palm will not spare you." Ada and her daughter had the backing of the Gong Clan Eight Trigram Palm, seemingly no one would dare to bully them. * (2013/03/28) Jennifer Tse Ting Ting two nights ago attended a Juicy Couture party. Actually Ting Ting earlier was studying acting in New York and stayed there for many months. Ting Ting said that the process was tough and even revealed that she called her mother Deborah Li in Hong Kong to sob. "One day, I had class from noon to 3Am. I called Mommy and sobbed. Mommy was very worried about me but was very supportive. She told me when I was done crying I had to continue to go to class even more professionally. Instead Papa (Patrick Tse Yin) said that acting didn't need to be learned." She said that acting class was like psychology and she had to remember unhappy memories. "I am naturally optimistic, I wouldn't remember anything unpleasant. So I had to remember something very heartbreaking." Rumored to have had a big argument with her boyfriend Andy Tien (On Chi Kit), Ting Ting lightly denied it. "Our relationships is great, we really didn't argue." She said that On Chi Kit was working on a movie so he did not keep her company in New York. "Everyone has been very supportive of me. When we first started dating, I would be unhappy when I didn't see him. Now we are an old couple, he is very supportive of me." She said that she missed her student life and even hoped to take On Chi Kit to study acting together. Currently Ting Ting has not signed with a new company. She said, "I am still choosing a company. I hope to develop in film in the future." Karena Ng Chin Yu and Eliza Sam Lai Heung also attended the event. Chin Yu BB recently worked on a food program. Will she recommend cuisine to her boyfriend Raymond Lam Fung? She said, "He isn't in Hong Kong. He has to go to Hengdian for a series for three months. I have to work too, I don't have time to visit." She said that she absolutely would support her boyfriend's new film SAVING GENERAL YANG (JUNG LIT YEUNG GA JEUNG). "Boss (Raymond Wong Pak Ming) invested in it, the movie has many handsome guys. (Is Lam Fung the most handsome?) They are all different, I know Wu Chun too>" She joked that she would consider booking a show to enjoy the film with her female friends. "Who is more important between boss and boyfriend? Both are equally important." * (2013/03/28) Anthony Wong Chau Sun in IP MAN THE FINAL FIGHT (IP MAN JUNG GIK YUT JIN) Played Ip Man. Although others have played the role before, he confidently said that he was not afraid of viewer comparisons of him with Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Donnie Yen Chi Tan because the scripts were different. Chau Sun praised Anita Yuen Wing Yi's performance as his wife as great, but criticized Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam)'s poor acting in IP MAN. He said, "She looks mad like she is getting ready to be Pan Jinlian, as soon as Ximen Qing appeared she would leave with him!" W: Wong Chau Sun, R: Reporter Different From Leung Chiu Wai R: Yen Chi Tan, Leung Chiu Wai both have played Ip man with decent box office and word of mouth. Are you worried about viewer comparison of you and them. W: What is there to compare? I hope viewers know that I am playing Ip Man, not Yen Chi Tan. Like the Wing Chun formula, "you hit me, I hit you, guard the middle", this has always been my acting principle. I never compare with others. Why make the comparison? You can't compare anyway, it's not like we are making the same script. Although I haven't seen the Wong Kar Wai directed THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI), I believe Wai Jai's Ip Man is certainly different. Yen Chi Tan's is about fighting the Japanese in Guangzhou, my Ip Man is more real. The movie talks about labor union and the police and how to interact and survive in this social environment. IP MAN THE FINAL FIGHT is worth watching because in the film is the value of people." "Doctorate" Does Not Need "Outstanding Student Award" R: Yen Chi Tan this year will make IP MAN 3D. The Hong Kong Film Award next year will have a chance for "three generations of Ip Man" competing for Best Actor, who do you feel have a chance to win? W: That's interesting! I of course feel I would have a chance to win. I wouldn't be humble in this aspect. Honestly, nomination to me is no big deal. It's like a doctorate, I am already doing my research. If you give me an Outstanding Student Award to me, I am the one who is determining whether you are worth and not the other way around. If you give me an award, I would thank you; but I wouldn't because of the award feel I am very high and a very big deal, maybe I am lucky and have a lot of friends. R: Is it because you have been publicly recognized to be a good actor that you no longer need an award to prove it? W: No, the longer I work the more I feel like a boxing champion. Not only do I have to be able to fight but I also need lucky. It doesn't come from calculation. I have heard the jury say that this person has improved so the award went to him, the gall of that! When a 30 point student is actually better than 100 point student, then why be serious? The most important is to be able to answer to yourself, to the boss and to the audience. Praises Yuen Wing Yi's Near Pinnacle Acting R: After many years in film and so many classic characters, do you have any character you would like to play? W: The ones I created are characters, cops, doctors aren't characters but professions. With everything coordinating together characters are formed. If I have to answer, I want to play Wong Fei Hung that Master Kwan Tak Hing created; because it's not my creation but a repeat performance by me, I am playing it again with Master Kwan's method. however Wong Fei Hung is entertaining and funny because he has the coordination of Sai Gua Pau, Cho Tat Wa and Shek Kin. In IP MAN THE FINAL FIGHT, Yuen Wing Yi played my wife. She didn't have to think at all, it was a piece of cake for her. Zhou Chuchu played my girlfriend, she was very hard working, very serious. The make up already put her into character. With good actors (Eric) Tsang Chi Wai and (Jordan) Chan Siu Chun, I am reminded of when I made THE UNTOLD STORY (YUN YUK CHA SIU BAU). Including all the extras that I killed and everyone's coordinate, they made me and the entire project. Slams Hung Doi Lam As Pan Jinlian Like R: Then the credit doesn't go to you alone? W: Of course, if I am acting alone how would it be entertaining! Don't say I am insulting other people again, In Mr. Yen's, was Hung Doi Lam who played his wife playing the wrong role? She really was so poor...... that she was like you were trying to collect a debt from her. Mr. Yen performed very well, gentleman and mild mannered. Yet his wife gave you the impression that she minded her husband being poor. She was not a good wife and mother. She looked mad like she was ready to play Pan Jinlian, as soon as Ximen Qing appeared she would leave with him. She discounted the entire film. Luckily Mr. Yen didn't notice. I am so picky that I definitely would yell at her, "Am I very poor, don't I have money to give to you for dinner?" Yen Chi Tan Performs Well R: Was playing an actual person like Ip Man hard? W: It's hard! Because you have a sample right in front of you. I have to use Ip Man's behavior to say the lines and make viewers that I am a Grand Master. Even an experienced actor like me would feel it is hard, having to mix in Ip Man's every move without going outside the lines and maintain the shape and the spirit at the same time. It's like a robot. Actually calligraphy is very hard because I never studied it. What I wrote was thin and weak, very frivolous. I hate my words looking frivolous because my personality is already very frivolous! In addition fighting scenes are hard too, I couldn't make faces or expression, I couldn't make noise, I had to have the air of a grand master. Not only having punch had to land it also had to be natural and free. I am not (Adam) Cheng Siu Chau, no one in the world fights as cool as Chau Guoon. Not even (Andy) Lau Tak Wa. Am I afraid of insulting Lau Tak Wa? I am comparing Lau Tak Wa to Cheng Siu Chau, how many people don't even get to be compared! I can't compare to Chau Guoon either, only Lau Tak Wa can. Wooden Stump Tags Long For Practice Any Time R: You study Tai Sing Pek Kwar that is hard, Wing Chun is soft. When you practice Wing Chun do you have any difficult? W: I had to put down Tai Sing Pek Kwar, which I can't say is a bad habit. Luckily when I was a kid I liked Bruce Lee and imitated his style. Bruce Lee's style is WIng Chun. I have the memory in my mind, but I still have to learn. Over a year before the shoot began I started to learn, carrying the wooden stump with me all over the place. As soon as I was free I practiced. To look the part, several months before the shoot I started to lose weight, every meal I would only a small bowl of rice. The goal was to drop to 150 pounds, but ultimately I couldn't go past 162 pounds; during the official shoot, with the fight scenes and the heat, I kept sweating and immediately reached the goal. The resulting shape was very convincing and so was the spirit. One shot was very shockingly good, I sat next to the photo at my wedding and looked very much like Ip Man in the photo. I was like Ip Man possessed. [ BLAH OF THE WEEK ] Columns, Reviews, Interviews 1. APPLE DAILY, MARCH 31 2013, HONG KONG FILM AWARD SPECIAL TOPIC ELANNE KONG TRIES FOR BEST ACTRESS IN ONE SHOT Just experiencing who acting is, Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam is already propped up to the peak of Hong Kong Film Award. At the April 13 Hong Kong Film Award, Kong Yeuk Lam's first nomination is already for the highest honor -- Best Actress. Kong Yeuk Lam seriously said, "I often tell people that LOVE LIFTING (GO GUI OI) is my first film, my first film that I know what acting is." - CHEUNG CHUN MING With 8 years in the business and so far over ten films, Elanne admitted that before she indeed had no idea what acting was. Today she watches her old work again she always feels she did not perform well. "Maybe I myself was emptier, I didn't what heartbreak and pain were. I didn't have any experience before, but very fortunately I ran into a very low period in life. At the time I really saw every facet of humanity. Many characters appeared in life, good characters, not good characters, these experience would add much more experience to me. I grew up very quickly, which was very helpful to film productions later. Thinking back, human actually doesn't have to be afraid to fail because low points and failures will be useful to you in the future." Gaining 20 Pounds Elanne has today completely thanks to director Herman Yau Lai To and Chapman To Man Jat. Elanne said that she was a girl without self confidence. Self pity made her think about giving up this character with a lot of potential. People around her gave her different opinions, some even tried to discourage her. Elanne said, "At the time I told the director I wanted to quit, the director was very unhappy. He said that if the character wasn't you, I wouldn't find another to play her. I was truly very touched. He was willing to give this chance to me. The director said that why did you believe what people say but not believe what I say, which made me feel guilt toward the director and a lot of gratitude at the same time. Because during the shoot he helped me a lot." Elanne in order to play the weightlifting athlete well gained 20 pounds. Every morning for two hours she would practice lifting with Hong Kong professional weightlifting coach. At home she would again work out with a professional fitness coach. She said, "After a week of training, I already couldn't walk like a normal person. I was limping and the posture was very strange. People started training when they were little, but I had to train midway. After a month of training I had to be a professional athlete. At the time I started with the bar, bending over and getting up. For two hours I kept practicing. Then I had weights, 5 kilograms, 10 kilograms, 25 kilograms and kept adding." Elanne described herself as exhausted physically and spiritually. Luckily she received To Man Jat's care and encouragement everyday. She said, "When I was very suffering and wanted to rest, he told me, this movie belonged to you. You couldn't give up for a single second." Crying Even In The Shower During the shoot, Elanne discovered that she had depression symptoms. She said, "I would be very stressed, feeling the pain of someone who loved me vanished from my life. Even in the middle of a shower I would cry. I remember one scene was in front of To Man Jat's tombstone. The director said that he had no script and suggested for me to talk to the tombstone. He told me to say whatever I wanted to him. At that moment I believed To Man Jat was someone I really loved. I told him you promised to accompany me to get the gold medal, to the Olympics, why wasn't he able to? Then I just cried. This shot was one straight take. After the shoot, before I asked the director how I did, he immediately said workday was done. The next day the director said he couldn't take it, he ended the day because he didn't want people to see him cry. Actually getting into the character had results that I didn't imagine. At the time I didn't feel like I was acting but in real life." Although she worried that she was depressed, Elanne at the same time felt excited. She said, "Only when you injected all your emotions do you have this type of feeling. It's the first time that I truly experienced acting. Before because I didn't know how to act, I just knew to memorize the lines and perform with an effort. Actually when you and your characters were on the same boat, you could do anything in front of the camera. I finally realized, because of LOVE LIFTING I really liked making movies." THE 32ND HONG KONG FILM AWARD BEST ACTRESS NOMINATIONS Zhou Xun (THE GREAT MAGICIAN) Miriam Yeung Chin Wa (LOVE IN THE BUFF) Sammi Cheng Sau Man (ROMANCING IN THIN AIR) Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam (LOVE LIFTING) Zhou Xun (THE SILENT WAR) Competing For Best Actress With Idol Zhou Xun Kong Yeuk Lam at age 19 in 2007 officially joined the business and became a singer, but at age 17 she has already begun guest starring in movies. She has performed in different ghost films and horror films. She also has played a schizophrenic. Elanne said, her official film performance was probably INVISIBLE TARGET (NAM YI BOON SIK), which was also her most grotesque film performance. Elanne said, "This is considered my first official film after I got into the business, but the first one was already with (Nicholas) Tse Ting Fung, (Shawn) Yue Man Lok, Wu Jing, and Fong Cho Ming (Jaycee Chan) and director (Benny) Chan Muk Sing, my pressure was pretty enormous and terrifying. At the time I was 18, I played a cop and I had zero experience. Watching it again I was lacking a lot, a new comer who was extremely rare and immature." Already Happy With A Photo Together This year's Hong Kong Film Award Best Actress nominees include Zhou Xun, Miriam Yeung Chin Wa and Sammi Cheng Sau Man. Elanne pointed out that Zhou Xun was her idol. She said that at the Hong Kong Film Award, she would already be happy with a photo with Zhou Xun. Elanne said that Zhou Xun in front of camera was already extremely charming. She did not need any expression, with just one look she was already acting. Her Best Actress level was completely without any suspicion. Yeung Chin Wa was an elder who Elanne respected very much. She said that she did not feel right about rating an elder's acting. Sammi was an amazing actress who could play both comedy and a character with depth like in EVERLASTING REGRET (CHEUNG HUNG GOR). As for winning Best Actress, Elanne said that she had no confidence. "Not really, for a girl who doesn't have much self confidence, the Best Actress nomination is already a gain." 2. MING PAO DAILY, MARCH 31 2013, FILM WORDS MAINLAND PREGNANT WOMAN'S JOURNEY TO THE WEST In the film market on the Easter long holiday, the most popular is the Hollywood 3D action hit G. I. JOE RETALIATION. Indeed it is explosive and exciting, leaving no room to breathe. Please note that the director is an American born Chinese Jon Chu. Aside from new style mighty weapons, the film also has Eastern swords and weapons as well as martial arts. Hong Kong's IP MAN THE FINAL FIGHT (IP MAN: JUNG GIK YUT JIN) again proves that kung fu film has a lot of variations and continues its excellent tradition. These two films shows that local and overseas Chinese both have special advantages in action film productions and can still continue to develop. Yet local Chinese cannot just rely on kung fu and has to like overseas Chinese mix East with West and new with old to be truly international. On the other hand, FINDING MR. RIGHT shows that Chinese pregnant woman's activity area also continues to expand. Not only across provinces and borders, they also crosses nations and continents to "give birth" everywhere. It is a phenomenon that is worthy of attention. IP MAN: THE FINAL FIGHT Has A Style of Its own As for IP MAN: THE FINAL FIGHT, undoubtedly Ip Man films are too numerous. Now how can director Herman Yau Lai To exceed Wong Kar Wai's glory? How can Anthony Wong Chau Sun's charm as Ip Man compete with Donnie Yen Chi Tan and Tony Leung Chiu Wai? Yet this film fortunately is more solid, not relying on flashes and star power. the film achieves Hong Kong nostalgia and is an entertainment film that has a style of its own. No wonder this year's Hong Kong International Film Festival selected it to be its opening film. This is a good film that Yau Lai To has put a particular effort into. Depicting Ip Man after immigrating to Hong Kong from Foshan in 1949, he taught martial art on the roof of the Kowloon Catering Industry Union. Capturing the Hong Kong neighborhood life half a century ago in details, the film even touches on martial art school challenges, labor dispute, and police and civilian conflict. In the film the old Hong Kong streets are constructed in Guangdong. Aside from the streets being too new and too clean, they were decorated convincingly. The poor streets, down run alleys and "lawless" Kowloon Walled City in particular had a polluted realism. Wong Chau Sun is thoroughly mature and has a stable stage presence. His disciples Timmy Hung Tin Ming, Jiang Luxia, Gillian Chung Yun Tung and others have their own personalities. Jordaon Chan Siu Chun as the cop is also realistic. Anita Yuen Wing Yi as Ip Man's wife is very simple, the official lead actress is Mainland actress Zhou Chuchu as an out of province singer who becomes Ip Man's significant other in the second half of his life. Zhou Chuchu may be too young and pretty, but still steals a lot of the spotlight. In the film Ip Man's duels of course are dramatized and fictional, rarely they are more like real kung fu than other Ip Man films. It even pays attention to martial art ethics. Wong Chau Sun and "White Crane style" Eric Tsang Chi Wai's duel is very outstanding and also has a mutually respecting friendship. They even talk about literature and poetry. Finally the Kowloon Walled City ring challenge is very brutal and exciting. Having both drama and action, nostalgia and realism are IP MAN: THE FINAL FIGHT's advantages, unfortunately it still avoids the political reality and does not mention the Ip Man Era Kuomintang and Communist battles and the Hong Kong right wing left wing riots. Bringing back historical facts would be hard. (Three and a half out of five stars) FINDING MR. RIGHT's Tang Wei Is Superficial In the current Mainland hit FINDING MR. RIGHT, Tang Wei plays a Beijing nouveau riche's pregnant mistress who flies to Seattle U.S.A to give birth and develops a romance with the immigrant taxi drive Wu Xiubo who originally is a doctor in the Mainland. Mainland female director Xue Xiaolu shoots this romantic comedy under a lot of influence from the American hit SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE. The technique is better than her melodramatic first film OCEAN HEAVEN (HOI YEUNG TIN TONG, in which Jet Li (Lee Nin Kit) and Wen Zhang starred as the terminally ill father and the autistic son). This time Tang Wei is very lively but superficial. Even better is Wu Xiubo's nice guy image, which is very natural. This film reflects that the Mainland "anchor baby" problem is no longer just a Hong Kong problem; it even reaches as far as the U.S. At this year's Hong Kong Film Festival I also watched two other new films about Mainland pregnant women. Hong Kong new director Chow Koon Wai adapted Yik Shu's novel A COMPLICATED STORY (YUT GOR FUK JAP DIK GOO SI) performs decently, even better is Mainland female director Emily Tang Xiaobai's shot in Guilin, Guangxi film ALL APOLOGIES. Both are worth recommending. (Two and a half out of five stars) - SHEK KEI 3. APPLE DAILY, MARCH 30 2013, ELECTRIC FILM ROAD AARON KWOK AND NICK CHEUNG HAVE SCHEMES OF THEIR OWN Meeting Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Nick Cheung Ka Fai on the 62th floor restaurant on Hopewell Centre in Wanchai for an interview, the reporter from the ground floor took three escalators and spent almost 10 minutes before arriving like an idiot. Twists and turns are rules of the film industry. Time does not represent success, as someone can still be left with nothing later. Kwok Fu Sing had twists and turns when he starred in KUNG FU SCHOLAR (LUN MAN JUI LO DIM LAU SIN HOI) and did not become Best Actor until 2005, resulting in an understanding. According to Russian drama master Constatin Staislavski's "method acting", the relationship between film character and idol more or less should be on opposite sides. Because image is the cost of an artist, dropping it requires courage. Cheung Ka Fai who also dropped it when from Fa Gwun Lung under Wong Jing's pen to winning the Best Actor with the film THE BEAST STALKER (JING YUN). Today he can in his new film CONSPIRATORS (TUNG MAU) bring back the street flavor. When Best Actors share the stage they not only have acting but also their own interpretation schemes. - HO WING NING Earlier for the Oxide Pang Shun directed new film CONSPIRATORS, the reporter did an interview with the film's two lead actors Kwok Fu Sing and Cheung Ka Fai. According to Staislavski's method acting, an actor has to be completely in character. Simply said to play a prisoner you have to be like a prisoner, no prisoner in prison would keep a pompadour hairstyle. Kwok Fu Sing from being a singer to film has participated in many movies. He started to get it and let go with the film DIVERGENCE (SAM CHA HAU). He said, "I came from the training class, my experience accumulated more and more. I wasn't a kid either, I have always put a lot of effort into acting. Then I truly got it with DIVERGENCE, completely because (William) Chang Suk Ping helped me with the image I was truly to let go completely." Appearing sloppy and without any make up on camera, he was heaven and earth apart from his dance king image. Sing Sing said, "The image made me let go of being handsome and enabled my state of mind to coordinate with the character. The lack of make up made me turn into not myself, which instead made my performance very relaxed. Actually letting go of the idol burden can make a person so natural." Later Sing Sing also ran into director Tam Ka Ming who further expanded his horizon. Actually actors can have many layers. "In AFTER THIS OUR EXILE (FU JI) director Tam Ka Ming taught me to see what kind of condition I was in, what role I was playing, whether I was playing myself or in character? Even a breath could tell that." The Most Afraid Of Knife and Fork Sing Sing's singer image was well known, but as an actor he had to dial everything back and start over. He said that film wanted viewers to see the difference on a different stage, like a costume party attendee needing a disguise. This time he in CONSPIRATORS again played THE DETECTIVE character. In the existing character, Sing Sing also added many "disguises", "Director Pang Shun said that the character Tam came from one day when he was at dinner he discovered that I had a very good sense for humor, then he magnified this sense. The character has always improved. Before in THE DETECTIVE it was C+, meaning that I was a lousy detective. Then from the second film THE DETECTIVE II (B+ JING TAM) to now I should have improved and may even improve to a higher grade. Every time the performance felt different. The hardest part was each film had one or two years in between, to find that feeling again was a challenge. This time the film added Cheung Ka Fai a partner who knew martial art, hopefully to enrich the story with action." In one of the most dangerous scenes, Sing Sing had to jump from a three story tall elevated tracks to an eatery. The knives and forks below had to go through special treatment. He said, "I have been injured from movie shoots so I would be especially careful with forks and knives. They would be wrapped in plastic to prevent stabbing me. After the jump I still had a shot of running into the street." As for whether he will be nominated for Best Actor with this film next year to make up for the regret of not being nominated for COLD WAR (HONG JIN) this year, Sing Sing said, "An award to an actor is just a type of reward, I have never thought about making movis to win awards. Of course an actor sometimes wants certain encouragement and recognition." Fa Gwun Lung Returns Cheung Ka Fai and Kwok Fu Sing worked together for the first time in the film CONSPIRATORS, originally the reporter thought that they would have many scenes together and set off sparks. Yet in the film they somewhat acted on their own. Ka Fai explained, "Actually in the film for a period we investigated separately, but actually what we did affected each other. It was another way to advance the story." Why did Cheung Ka Fai agree to perform? He said, "This time Director Pang Shun asked me. I was interested in taking part in this movie because in recent years my characters have very heavy. This time I could relax a little. I have never worked with Ah Shun before. I have been a follower of this series, so I wanted to know what it would turn into when I was added. It was like a challenge for myself." The Most Outstanding Wig In recent years Ka Fai played mostly dark and conflicted characters, this time he somewhat went back to where he started. He played a Malaysian private investigator with a little comedy. It even had a hint of his past classic character, Wong Jing's Fa Gwun Lung. "This time the performance method was more relaxed, and my previous comedy character's flavor. This is inevitable because no matter how I performed I was still Cheung Ka Fai! In addition my past comedy character might be too well known, I could only start with something small to make each actor different." Off topic, people always thought that the now Best Actor Ka Fai minded talking about his past comedy characters like Fa Gwun Lung. yet on the day of interview he was not. He admitted that he would not resist making a similar crazy comedy film but he must insist on some principles. He said, "If you tell me to make a Mo Le Tau comedy, I wouldn't resist since I don't mind having a little fun! However if I have the ambition to make a good comedy, I definitely can't repeat my past performance. In other words aside from being funny it has to have a very solid story line. This is what I insist on." In the film Ka Fai had a Malaysian accent and a long wig. Ka Fai said, "The wig was directly outstanding, it was truly very tough to wear it in the heat. In addition in the movie I had many action and fight scenes. As for the Malaysian accent I studied it for awhile, but I couldn't use it too much; not that I was afraid viewers would get tired of it." As for his recent co-stars being mostly Best Actors like Lau Ching Wan, Nicholas Tse Ting Fung and Kwok Fu Sing this time, Ka Fai said, "Actually it's a coincidence, I wouldn't care what title they or I have. We’re talking about the wildest, weirdest genre films you can imagine – from Korea’s undisputed kings of micro-budgets!
