* (2012/12/19) Miriam Yeung Chin Wa two nights ago attended an award show 
in 7 inch high heels.  She said that after having a baby her feet grew 
half a size, luckily she was still able to wear the high heels that she 
bought.  Chin Wa said, "I haven't worn high heels in a long time, they 
took a little getting used to.  Tonight Pang Ho Cheung is also present 
at the award show.  I agree to work on his movie next year.  I don't know 
if it's the LOVE IN THE BUFF (CHUN GIU YU JI MING) team, but I believe it 
would be a different film genre."
	Chin Wa admitted that when the director invited her, he first 
stipulated that the production will remain in Hong Kong to put her at 
ease.  "Actually It's not like I can't take a step away, only before the 
baby turns one I wouldn't leave for too long.  After becoming a mother I 
finally realize what it is to miss a child.  A few days ago he had a 
fever.  Although I was a nurse my heart still ached.  However in Christmas 
I still would have to fly to Beijing for work."

* (2012/12/19) Recently a Mainland magazine revealed that Wang Lijun who 
was known as the pioneer against organized crime in Chongqing over two 
years ago was interested in making a film or a television series about 
his fight against gangs and thus contacted many film and television 
celebrities.  According to the magazine Johnnie To Kei Fung said that he 
once scouted Chongqing for location and has met with Wang Lijun 4 times.  
In addition the city propaganda ministry revealed that because To Kei 
Fung turned the fight against gangs into a gun fight film and did not 
meet the theme, the creative idea was shot down.
	To Kei Fung was asked whether he has met with Wang Lijun.  "During 
the film research stages I have indeed met with him."

* (2012/12/19) Joyce Cheng Yun Yi has inherited her late mother Lydia Shum 
Din Ha's performance genes and has developed well in music, film and 
television.  Recently she participated in the Lunar New Year film I LOVE 
HONG KONG 2013 (NGOR OI HK 2013 GUNG HEI FAT CHOI) and played a young 
Fei Jeh.  She looked and acted extremely convincingly.  She wore a 
special costume to be even more accurate in terms of figures.
	Yun Yi earlier wore a retro costume and worked on the Lunar New 
Year film I LOVE HONG KONG 2013 with Kate Tsui Tsz Shan and Bosco Wong 
Chung Chak in a Mongkok nostalgia coffee shop over night.
	Yun Yi put on Fei Jeh's trademark hairstyle wig, exaggerated 
round white framed glasses and a pearl necklace.  When she propped up her 
chin with her hands she looked very much like Fei Jeh.  Yun Yi looked 
plumper than before, when she smiled she even had a double chin.  She said 
that in order to look even more like her mother she deliberately would 
thicker clothing for the performance.
	During the shoot, Yun Yi and Tsui Tsz Shan chatted and laughed.  
Her record company executive visited the set with a magazine that 
covered Tavia Yeung Yi and Tsui Tsz Shan's TVB Best Actress battle.  Tsui 
Tsz Shan pretended that she did not see it.

* (2012/12/18) Taiwan actor Chang Chen came to Hong Kong to promote his 
new film THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI).  He stated that this film 
took three years to make, at first he had to train everyday until he 
cried.  Now he is already used to practicing kung fu.
	This film has already been scheduled for a January 10 2013 
release, currently it is supposedly still rushing post production.  Chang 
Chen said that he had no idea.  When he was making this film he was 
already prepared mentally.  He did not even dare to cut his hair as he 
waited for additional shoots.  He pointed out that he did his best to 
play his part well and to promote, hopefully the film will be released as 
scheduled.

* (2012/12/18) Big Brother Jackie Chan while making his 101st film CZ12 
(SUP YI SUN CHIU) discovered an amazing female fighter.  She even 
received Big Brother's personal training and instruction.  She is Zhang 
Lanxin.
	The Emperor Motion Pictures, Jackie Chan Productions and Huayi 
Brothers joint release CZ12 not only has Jackie Chan as its star but also 
its director.  The film constructed a 15,000 foot full studio set as the 
enemy base.  The base was divided into two stories.  Every part's design 
was made for fight scenes, from something as small as a chair to as large 
as a flight of stairs everything has been included into the calculation.  
Big Brother who participated in some of the designs said, "This base is 
the set of a key action scene.  My right brain came up with the design 
while my left brain rehearsed the stunts, squeezing every drop out of 
them."
	Aside from designing every scene, Big Brother even discovered a 
"action actress" Zhang Lanxin, who Big Brother also praised as his right 
choice.  Among the numerous actors in the audition, he only chose Zhang 
Lanxin not because she could fight but because no one had the murderous 
intent that she had.  Big Brother explained, "Among those who auditioned, 
some were great in martial arts but as a martial art film star the first 
condition is to make people feel you could fight.  Zhang Lanxin is the 
type who gives the impression of a 'great fighter' just by standing 
there."
	Big Brother on the set often taught kung fu to Zhang Lanxin so 
she would be more able to handle the shots.  Zhang Lanxin said that she 
was incredibly honored to receive Big Brother's instruction.  "Big 
Brother's achievement in action films proved his substance!  His 
correction, even if it's just two minutes, is better than you training on 
your own for two months."


* (2012/12/18) TVB Anniversary Awards 2012 took place last night.  This 
year is the first year that the Best Actor, Best Actress and the Series 
awards are determined by general election through one vote per person.  
In the end Wayne Lai Yiu Cheung as the dark horse defeated favorite 
Raymond Lam Fung to win Best Actor for the third time and tie Gallen Law 
Ka Leung's record of man years.  Lam Fung unfortunately went home empty 
handed.  Tavia Yeung fended off rival Kate Tsui Tsz Shan to win Best 
Actress.  She was so emotional that she broke into tears.  Best Series 
went to the controversial WHEN HEAVEN BURNS (TIN YU DEI).  TVB announced 
that over 1.54 million people participated in the "general election", but 
Best Actor and Best Actress vote counts were over 110,000.  The ratio was 
under suspicion.
	This year's Best Actor and Best Actress competition has been 
fierce.  Before the race each nominees actively campaigned for votes.  
Lam Fung was the favorite while Yeung Yi and Tsui Tsz Shan fought over 
Best Actress.  Last night the results were announced and Lam Fung was 
disappointed as Wayne Lai Yiu Cheung with THE CONFIDANT (DAI TAI GAM) won 
his third Best Actor and tied Law Ka Leung's record much to his surprise.  
Lam Fung even lost MY FAVORITE MALE TELEVISION CHARACTER to Kenneth Ma 
Kwok Ming and went home empty handed.  He only forced a smile to be happy 
for others.  When Cheung Jai accepted the award he said, "I thought I 
wouldn't have a chance to step on this stage.  I have returned to TVB for 
10 years, truly how many decades are in a lifetime!  Thank you Tsang Lai 
Chun for bringing me to the award stage step by step.  I would share all 
the honor with the most important (people) in my life, Mama, my wife and 
son."  Cheung Jai later mentioned that Lam Fung had many fans but lost 
the Best Actor.  He said, "With one vote per person I truly never thought 
that I would win, thank you viewers for your support."
	Tsui Tsz Shan has always been confident about winning Best 
Actress.  When she was announced as the MY FAVORITE FEMALE TELEVISION 
CHARACTER winner, her first reaction was to pout.  Then she cried when 
she accepted the award seemingly somewhat reluctantly.
	Yeung Yi broke down when she learned that she won Best Actress.  
Rumored boyfriend Law Chung Him was happy and teary eyed as he lowered 
his head to wipe away his tears.  Yeung Yi happily embraced Ma Kwok Ming, 
Myolie Wu Hung Yi, Linda Chung Ka Yun and others.  Yeung Yi said, "I 
never thought I could stand on the stage, I truly thought I had an 
election emergency!"  She lamented the road for over 10 years has been 
very tough, but she did not give up.  She thanked her family, manager and 
others.  She even gave a special thanks to Liza Wang Ming Cheun.  "Liza 
Jeh back then told me to definitely sign the manager contract because it 
would bring a lot of opportunities!"  Yeung Yi still did not thank Law 
Chung Him.
	Speaking of Law Chung Him shedding tears of her, Yeung Yi said, 
"Silly!  What was he crying for?  He should wait until he wins an award 
to cry!"  She said that Law Chung Him was right to be emotional because 
he was happy for her, but she did not need to thank him as everything was 
in her heart.  Yeung Yi only remembered that she has not voted yet right 
before the deadline and immediately voted for herself; later she only 
began to campaign only when the election got close.  She tearfully said 
that she felt guilty about forgetting to thank her fans on the stage.  
Yeung Yi also said, "When (Miriam Yeung) Chin Wa announced "Fourth Wife" 
as the winner, I couldn't connect that to myself and needed Wu Hung Yi 
and Tsui Tsz Shan to remind me."
	TVB last night announced the "general election" reached 
1,542,922 people.  Lai Yiu Cheung received 114,947 votes while Yeung Yi 
received 110,975 votes.  The ratio was in question.  TVB explained that 
during voting voters could vote in one category and not required to vote 
in all three.  The over 1.5 million votes did not represent that all three 
categories had the same vote count.
	Tsui Tsz Shan did not win Best Actress but fortunately with HIGHS 
AND LOWS (LUI TING SO DUK) won MY FAVORITE FEMALE TELEVISION CHARACTER.  
She said, "I am not a likable person, receiving so many people's support 
is already very rare.  Thank you Ms. Lok, I know you have helped me alot."  
She said that she was already very gratified with the award, whether she 
won the Best Actress or not it was unimportant.  Ma Kwok Ming with THE 
HIPPOCRATIC CRUSH (ON CALL 36 SIU SI) won MY FAVORITE MALE TELEVISION 
CHARACTER.  He choked up as he said, "I don't know when people stop 
wanting this award, but I wouldn't mind winning this every year from now 
on."
	Best Supporting Actor favorites were Chan Kwok Bong and Jerry Koo 
Ming Wa.  Finally the latter won.  He thanked Chan Kwok Bong for his 
continuing support, with Chan Kwok Bong presenting the award to him it 
was especially meaningful.  Nancy Wu Ting Yan won Best Supporting Actress 
from rival Mandy Wong Man Yi.  She said, "I truly had obstacles galore, 
I am very happy.  Thank you TVB for your cultivate of the past 10 years."  
	WHEN HEAVEN BURNS crushed THE CONFIDANT, THE HIPPOCRATIC CRUSH to 
win Best Drama.  Producer Chik Kei Yi and copy editor Chow Yuk Ming felt 
happy.  They thanked viewers for still remembering the series despite its 
early in the year release and were deeply pleased.  Chik Kei Yi at the 
end of the month will leave TVB.  He described the award as a full circle 
and he would form a production company with Chow Yuk Ming.  However he 
said in a television interview that he still would like to make another 
series with the original cast and crew.  "The content will have variety, 
murder and arson."
	Since Ricky Wong Wai Kei founded Hong Kong Television he stole 
away many experienced veteran support actors.  Perhaps to comfort a group 
of veteran actors, this year "Outstanding Actor Awards" were added to 
honor actors for professionalism and recognition from on and off screen 
talent.  Winners included host Carol Cheng Yui Ling, Chin Kar Lok, Benz 
Hui Siu Hung, Sunny Chan Kam Hung and Henry Lee Sing Cheung.
	Chin Kar Lok accepted the award from Eric Tsang Chi Wai.  He kept 
making fun of Eliza Sam Lai Heung all night and joked that he did not 
want to give people the impression of "just messing around".  However he 
said, "This year I have had enough, I got married and will be an Old Man 
soon.  I am afraid of being smote for having too much."  He did not feel 
the award was a "pork prize".
	Cheng Yui Ling gave a "wow" when she learned that she won and she 
said that she was "both eating in and carrying out".  Hui Siu Hung and Lee 
Sing Cheung were very touched.  When Lee Sing Cheung won, Wu Hung Yi stood 
up and applauded in the audience.  Fala Chen was even moved to tears.
	After 41 years at TVB, Wang Ming Chuen won the Anniversary 
Performing Artist Award.  Recently Wong Wai Kei's Hong Kong Television 
has been on the prowl, Ah Jeh who was elegantly dressed said that with 
the arrival of a new television age she did not dare to hesitate.  "I 
wouldn't treat this award like a senior award, I will work hard by TVB's 
side."  Ah Jeh said that she has been in the business in 45 years, TVB's 
45th anniversary also happened to be this year.  Thus the award was 
especially meaningful.  "Working on a job for this long is not easy, so I 
have to thank myself too.  For now I haven't thought about how to 
celebrate yet, I will think about it after the end of my concerts."
	Luisa Maria Leitao (Lai Chi San)'s popularity rose from hosting 
TELLING MARIA and she won Best Program Host as the favorite.  She choked 
up emotionally as she stuttered, "First I have to thank Best Actors who 
accepted my interview.  I have been in TVB for almost 30 years.  This is 
my first nomination and first award, to me it is a great reward.  Thank 
you to all the co-workers who voted for me."
	Lai Chi San thanked former boyfriend Cheung Tat Lun.  "He gave me 
a lot of encouragement, without him I wouldn't have this program.  I want 
to give half the luck, you are lacking a little."  Lai Chi San stated that 
Cheung Tat Lun brought her out of her low point.  "He told me to do 
something for myself.  He motivated me to work on TELLING MARIA and gave 
me a lot of suggestions."  She said that she would see if Cheung Tat Lun 
was free before celebrating.  As for getting back together they had no 
chance, right now they are good friends.

* (2012/12/18) Chow Yun Fat yesterday along with THE LAST TYCOON (DAI 
SEUNG HOI) team Wong Jing, Francis Ng Chun Yu and even the still in 
recovery Huang Xiaoming appeared at the Shanghai premiere.  The main cast 
appeared in their film costumes.  Fat Gor pushed protege Huang Xiaoming's 
wheel chair and gave everyone a pleasant surprise; for the event he took 
the high speed rail to Shanghai.  Fat Gor and Huang Xiaoming "flirted" 
in front of everyone.  Fat Gor gently said to Huang Xiaoming that he 
still came from afar to promote even though he was injured, it was truly 
such trouble for him.  Then he gave an evil laugh and said, "Good, you 
aren't dead yet."
	They played the same role in different versions before, now they 
play the same character again.  Fat Gor said that it felt very wonderful.  
At first he wanted Huang Xiaoming's Hui Man Keung to be better than his, 
and indeed it was better than his because he was more solid than he was.

* (2012/12/18) Donnie Yen Chi Tan, Eva Huang Shengyi, and Wang Baoqiang 
yesterday attended the HK$200 million 3D film THE ICEMAN COMETH 3D (BING 
FUNG HUP) production start ceremony.  Yen Chi Tan revealed that the new 
film's most special part was the planned Ching Ma bridge closing for the 
production.  If they were unable to successfully close the bridge they 
were going to build another bridge for the shoot.  He pointed out that 
the film company selected his two co-stars.  Two days ago he finally had 
a chance to work with Wang Baoqiang for the first time, only to learn that 
actually his kung fu was mightier than the stunt man and had quite a 
knack for martial arts.
	Huang Shengyi also took the chance to kiss up.  She said that in 
the film she and Yen Chi Tan were linked romantically so she really wanted 
to understand him.  Then she realized that he had musical talent and 
could fight, on top of that he was well trained in martial arts.  She 
stated that she too really wanted to find a man like him.

* (2012/12/18) The Peter Chan Ho Sun produced, Andrew Lau Wai Keung 
directed THE GUILLOTINES (HUET DIK JI) two nights ago held its Taipei 
premiere.  They along with Shawn Yue Man Lok and Jimmy Wang Yu 
participated in the Taipei Blood center's film blood drive.  Because one 
of the lead actors Ethan Juan (Yuen King Tin) was still in military 
service and unable to participate, his good friend Eddie Peng Yu-yen 
attended with his mother in support.
	When Chan Ho Sun rushed from the Mainland to Taipei he realized 
that he did not bring his travel documents and needed someone to 
deliver his passport to the Hong Kong airport, then he took a place from 
Taipei there.  Sandra Ng Kwan Yu scolded him all the way to Taipei;  
because he agreed to attend, no matter how difficult he still had to 
appear on time.

* (2012/12/18) Aaron Kwok Fu Sing's first Mainland holiday film BETTER 
AND BETTER, VILLAGE NIGHT is in production in Beijing countryside.  He 
and Xu Jinglei played a feuding couple.  Xu Jinglei angrily threw coins 
at Sing Sing's face.  Sing Sing joked that they hurt a lot and she truly 
was vicious.  However, in the film they had both argument and romantic 
scenes.  Yesterday they pretended to kiss in the snow.  Actually 15 years 
ago they worked together shortly in the Hong Kong film THE STORM RIDERS 
(FUNG WON).  This time playing a couple felt very fresh to them.
	Xu Jinglei has worked with three Heavenly Kings Leon Lai Ming, 
Andy Lau Tak Wa and Sing Sing.  She described Sing Sing as mature and 
mischievous, felt that he had quite a knack for comedy.  As for her year, 
Xu Jinglei revealed that she was "reclusive" as she was traveling 
overseas, making friends and studying English.  After awhile away from 
show business, she felt a lot of things were no longer important.

* (2012/12/18) The 3 show run of SHRIMP CRAZY FAMILY II ended two nights 
ago.  Lo Hi Pang had a wireless microphone malfunction and took a 
microphone out of his pocket to deliver his lines.  Meg Lam Kin Ming made 
fun of him for "taking his thing out".  He replied, "Everyone has a 
thing!"  Guest Sandra Ng Kwan Yu appeared in her GOLDEN CHICKEN (GUM GAI) 
costume.  She grabbed Lo Hoi Pang to play "Lo Hoi Pang mic check".  
Annie Liu On Lai tried to stop her.  "His mic is already broken, it can't 
break again!"
	Jacky Cheung Hok Yau danced and sang MESSY HAIR.  Lam Kin Ming 
praised, "Song God, you are pretty good at dancing!"  Hok Yau joked, "I 
am pretty good!"  Lam Kin Ming immediately reached out to hug and grab 
him in an attempt to take off his jacket, Hok Yau was so threatened that 
he escaped from the scene.
	Eric Tsang Chi Wai appeared as the 55th Asia Pacific Film 
Festival president to present the Best Supporting Actor award to LIFE 
WITHOUT PRINCIPLE (DUET MING GUM)'s Lo Hoi Pang.  Lo Hoi Pang was so 
emotional that he had tears in his eyes, but he also joked, "I am just 
old and have eye gel!  After many years of toiling, I am not only able to 
break out of Hong Kong but also Asia, thank you!"  Everyone celebrates 
his December 21 End of the World 71st birthday, Chik Mei Chun and King 
Kong also celebrated their January birthdays as they participated in 
cake cutting.
	Lo Hoi Pang joked that he thought the Best Supporting Actor award 
would be very ugly, once he got it in his hands he thought it was very 
pretty.  He decided to display it somewhere noticeable at home.  "This is 
the best 71st birthday present."  Lo Hoi Pang revealed that he continued 
to receive film offers, as long as he got hired he would work on the 
film.  However he did not deliberately increase his rate.  He was afraid 
that after his raise he would not get to play any more.  The entire 
performance raised HK$1.8 million for the Hong Kong Movie Star Sports 
Association Charities Limited.  Nat Chan Pak Cheung accepted the check on 
behalf of the charity.
	Speaking of Kenny Wee (Wong Ho) finally promised to shut up, Chi 
Wai said, "An ending would be good.  Actually the incident was very minor, 
it just got bigger and bigger.  Now it shrinks down again."  He said that 
the police has not contacted him yet.

* (2012/12/17) Tsui Siu Keung's son Edward Chui Woai Dong represented the 
Emperor film TRIAD (JAT JIK) to attend the 55th Asia Pacific Film 
Festival: A New Starting Ling New Direction event.  Because TRIAD was 
released in Macau and Hong Kong simultaneously, Chui Woai Dong said that 
he has already seen it five times.  "Ma (Shirley Yim) guest starred too, 
Old Man hasn't had the time to watch it yet.  Lately I have had some new
film contracts, mostly action films.  I want to play a villain or an 
early psychosis sufferer."  

* (2012/12/17) Chang Chen, Julian Cheung Chi Lam, Karena Lam Ka Yun, Dior 
Cheng Yi Kin, Chang Chen and others two nights ago attended an event in 
Macau.  THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JING SI)'s Chang Chen and Cheung Chi 
Lam said that the film has entered its post production stage.  Chilam 
said, "Slow production yields detailed product, which is very 
reasonable.  I believe the scenes will be very classic?  (When will it be 
released?)  No one knows, probably soon."  He also praised Chang Chen for 
practicing kung fu to the point of winning an award.  He even joked, "I 
want to attack him and try his reaction!"  He even asked Chang Chen to 
teach him kung fu.  Chang Chen humbly replied, "I can, you would be 
healthier.  It's just exercise."
	Wu Chen revealed that his film SAVING GENERAL YANG (JUNG LIT YEUNG 
GA JEUNG) will be released on Easter next year.  He heard that the director 
has already completed post production, unfortunately he has not had the 
chance to watch it yet.  He looked forward to watching the official 
version.

* (2012/12/17) The 55th Asia Pacific Film Festival awards took place 
two nights ago in Macau.  Hong Kong films finally won only 4 awards.  
The Best Actor battle between Lau Ching Wan and Tony Leung Ka Fai fell 
against the favorites, but one of the jury members Carina Lau Ka Ling and 
planning committee executive director Eric Tsang Chi Wai at the 
celebration stated that they were pleased with the result.  They stressed 
that the result was fair and balanced as they uniformly praised Manila 
film BWAKAW lead actor Eddie Garcia's outstanding performance.  He 
absolutely deserved to win the Asia Pacific Best Actor.
	Ka Ling was very satisfied with the result.  As for favorites 
Ching Wan and Ka Fai both lost the Best Actor, she said that the result 
was unanimous among the jury.  During the evaluation process they had no 
argument, only during the "Best Picture" the jury stopped twice for the 
members to consider clearly.  She also praised Kwai Lun-Mei as a very 
outstanding actress with a better and better grasp on her characters.
	She revealed that she has planned to party on Christmas but she 
would not plan to ski overseas.  This time she has been working hard so 
she only wanted to properly rest and enjoy the holiday cheer.  She said, 
"(Tony) Leung Chiu Wai still has worked on THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG 
SI) post production, he should be done already.  Actually I don't know

	Although Chi Wai was disappointed that neither Ching Wan nor Ka 
Fai won Best Actor, he felt that Eddie Garcia truly deserved the award so 
he was very pleased with the result.  Different nations' representatives 
also said to him that the results were very fair and they were very 
pleased.  Due to the numerous award winner absence, Chi Wai stressed that 
the results were not known before hand and there was no requirement for 
winners to attend; he did not want to deliberately invite people.  He 
thought that absence was fine, as it showed how fair the event was.

* (2012/12/17) Chapman To Man Jat, Wong Cho Nam, Jacqueline Chong Si Man, 
Jim Chim Shui Man and Tong Fei yesterday attended the film BLACK COMEDY 
(HAK SIK HEI KET) production start ceremony.  To Man Jat in recent years 
has focused on comedy.  He said that in order to encourage investors to 
make Hong Kong style comedy that had no Mainland market, he would charge 
half his rate for this type of movies.  Was he confident that BLACK would 
be a big hit?  To Man Jat said, "It's the first day of the shoot, I still 
don't know yet.  If I promote like my life depends on it during its 
release, everyone will know!"
	Cho Nam in the film plays a couple with Tong Fei and would have 
an intimate scene.  He said that every time he had an intimate scene he 
would report to his girlfriend Leanne Li, because when he worked on a kiss 
scene with Christine Kuo, his girlfriend after watching asked him 
whether he could not make such scenes.  As for Leanne Li's kiss scene, 
Cho Nam said, "I would teach her how to kiss a little better!"

* (2012/12/17) Ethan Juan (Yuen King Tin) in the film THE GUILLOTINES 
(HUET DIK JI) suffers injuries from Shawn Yue Man Lok.  Huang Xiaoming 
saves him and takes him to a village for treatment.  During the shoot, 
Siu Tin needed injury make up on his upper body and took over a hour.  He 
was bashful and joked that for the first time in his film career the make 
up artist had to apply make up on his nipples.  The scene was shot 
outdoors in Xian, where the temperature was only 5 degrees Celsius.  He 
faced the chilly wind topless for two hours.  Siu Tin said that making 
THE GUILLOTINES provided a lot of shocking education to him, whatever he 
was afraid of he was arranged to work on.  He had a fear of heights so he 
had to work on wires.  He was afraid of explosions and the director 
"rewarded" him with a ton of explosives to enjoy.

* (2012/12/16) Returning to Hong Kong to visit her mother and feeding her 
acting bug on the way, Veronica Yip Yuk Hing returned to the U.S. after 
calming down from her mother's passing and troubles from gossip.  Two 
nights ago after completing her final scene for the Lunar New Year film 
I LOVE HONG KONG 2013 (NGOR OI HK 2013 GUNG HEI FAT CHOI) immediately 
packed and did not sleep all night.
	Hing Hing yesterday at the airport revealed that after returning 
to the U.S. she would first go to Hawaii with her children for a 
vacation.  As for her late mother's funeral, she said, "It's being worked 
on, we will make accommodation for a good day.  (When will the funeral 
be?)  I can't say yet, it would be before January.  It will have to wait 
for other siblings from overseas to come back.  (Did you already know 
that your mother would soon pass away to choose to return to Hong Kong at 
this time?)  I had a feeling, like it's destined."
	Earlier Eric Tsang Chi Wai was rumored to invite Hing Hing to make 
a television series.  She said, "It's not an invitation, he had such an 
idea.  However 20 to 30 episodes take too long, I think I might not be 
able to do it because I can't leave the children."  She also admitted that 
for now she no longer had the intention to act again, but she will return 
to Hong Kong for the Lunar New Year film premiere.  She will stay a 
week.
	Hing Hing admitted that with the troubles from her return to 
Hong Kong, she felt that she was too impulsive.  "Actually I shouldn't 
have over-reacted, I should've just let it go.  (Did your husband 
comfort you?)  More like I comforted him more."  After returning to the 
U.S. they would handle their private jet's legal issues.  She said, "All 
the numbers, all the problems, I don't want to talk more about the.  
It's fine!  Whether I have money or not, any problem is unimportant as 
long as I did my own thing.  I saw Mommy, I came back to act and had a lot 
of fun.  With the other stuff time can prove everything."

* (2012/12/16) The 55th Asia Pacific Film Festival awards last night took 
place in the Venetian Macao.  LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE (DUET MING GUM)'s 
Lau Ching Wan and COLD WAR (HONG JIN)'s Tony Leung Ka Fai were no match 
for the Manila film BWAKAW's lead actor Eddie Garcia.  Kwai Lun-Mei with 
GF*BF won the Asia Pacific Best Actress.  Johnnie To Kei Fung's LIFE 
WITHOUT PRINCIPLE won two awards, Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor, 
to become the big winner.  The box office hit COLD WAR only won the Best 
Editing award.
	Kwai Lun-Mei earlier with GF*BF won the Golden Horse Best Actress 
award.  Last night she won Asia Pacific Best Actress with the film again, 
unfortunately she was at work and unable to personally accept the award.  
The film's director Yang Ya-Che accepted it on her behalf.  Winning the 
Golden Horse Best Actor with LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE, Lau Ching Wan did not 
win the Asia Pacific Best Actor as it went to the 83 year old Manila 
actor Eddie Garcia.
	When the winner was announced, Ching Wan was somewhat 
disappointed but later he was happy at the interview.  "I wasn't 
especially disappointed since LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE won two awards.  Best 
Picture represents every worker and is more important than Best Actor.  I 
believe Director To Kei Fung would agree."  Did he seen Eddie Garcia's 
film BWAKAW?  He said, "It's good!  He's my elder.  I am just 40 
something, I still have a lot of time.  As long as people ask me to make 
movies, I would keep making them."
	Eddie Garcia thanked for the jury for voting for him.  He 
described this trip to Macau as a great experience.  "I am already 83, 
this isn't my first Best Actor award.  In Manila I won 29 awards total, 
5 Best Actors, 6 Best Supporting Actors, 5 Best Directors and others.  
Because I have won so many I have already become a master and they no 
longer give me any award!"  Did he recognize his competitors?  He 
admitted, "I just arrived in Macau Thursday.  I has been busy shopping 
and didn't see my competitor's films."
	Japanese actress Makiko Watanabe with CAPTURING DAD defeated THE 
WEDDING DIARY's Wai Ying Hung, THE THIEVES' Gianna Jun Ji-Hyun, LIFE 
WITHOUT PRINCIPLE's Denise Ho Wan Si to win Best Supporting Actress.  Lo 
Hoi Pang with LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE won Best Supporting Actor.  He 
earlier already won the Hong Kong Film Award Best Supporting Actor with 
the film.  Because he was performing in the play SHRIMP CRAZY FAMILY II 
(HA JAI DADDY II) he was unable to personally accept the award.  Lau 
Ching Wan accepted it on his behalf.
	When Eric Tsang Chi Wai and Ivy Chen presented the Best Actor 
award, he said, "My partner is very tall."  Ivy Chen immediately removed 
her high heels.  Chi Wai joked, "Amazing!  You will be a star 
immediately."  When he opened the envelop he kept calling out Ching Wan 
and Ka Fai's names but he guessed wrong.  Kate Tsui Tsz Shan and Wilson 
Chin Kwok Wai who impersonated PSY were the guest performers.

* (2012/12/16) The 55th Asia Pacific Film Festival Awards took place last 
night in the Venetian Macao.  TVB artists appeared on the red carpet as 
if they were at the TVB anniversary.  TVB Best Actress favorite Kate Tsui 
Tsz Shan, new generation sexy goddess JJ Jia (Ga Hiu Sun), Elanne Kong 
Yeuk Lam and Oceane Zhu Xuan dressed for the occasion but they still were 
not match for jury member Carina Lau Ka Ling.  She was the sexiest in the 
entire venue.  Lau Ching Wan brought his "lucky charm" wife while Tony 
Leung Ka Fai attended alone.  He revealed that he drank a bottle of 
baijiu to calm his nerves, as he was afraid of embarrassment from cold 
sweat; others included KEY OF LIFE Best Actor nominee Masato Sakai, 
Michael Tse Tin Wa, Kenneth Ma Kwok Ming and Bosco Wong Chung Chak.
	Ka Ling said that she was very happy to be on the jury.  Although 
she watched over 20 films in a week, the task was not tough and was a 
great experience.  December 8 was Ka Ling's birthday.  She said that she 
spent it peacefully.  Tony Leung Chiu Wai hid the gift for a treasure 
hunt for her.  Did she find her treasure?  She sweetly smiled and said, 
"I found it, it's a great treasure.  I am very pleased.  The most 
thoughtful of course was the card.  I am old school, I like writing 
letters and cards."  As for the Eric Tsang Chi Wai's alleged slapping of 
Kenny Wee (Wong Ho), she did not know what happened but she respected 
Chi Wai very much.

* (2012/12/16) The Dior Cheng Yi Kin and Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin starred 
MY SASSY HUBBY (NGOR LO POR NG GAU CHING 2 NGOR LO GUNG NG SUN SING) has 
made almost HK$6 million at the Hong Kong box office as of December 14.  
Including the Mainland and Malaysia the film exceeded 30 million as of 
December 13.  Two nights ago a celebration was held.  One of the investors 
Daneil Lam Siu Ming said that he would make a third installment as soon 
as possible, as he joked that they could make MY SASSY WIFE (NGOR LO POR 
NG SUN SING).  
	Director James Yuen Sai Sun joked that for the third film he 
would wait for the actors to have a family and children before making it.  
Ah Sa said, "He and I, are you serious?"  Ekin also joked, "The film may 
not be made after all"  Ah Sa joked that if the third film would be made 
10 more years later, the story should be even more touching and have a 
tragic ending.  Ekin said that he had a "sequel life" and would decide on

* (2012/12/15) The Chow Yun Fat and Huang Xiaoming starred new film THE 
LAST TYCOON (DAI SEUNG HOI) yesterday unveiled its stills and production 
highlight.  A video titled THE LAST TYCOON Huang Xiaoming adds last 
minute kiss scene" appeared online.  In it lead actor Huang Xiaoming and 
producer Andrew Lau Wai Keung instructed new Mainland actress Feng Wenjuan 
on the kiss scene together.
	Whenever Huang Xiaoming lovingly looked at Feng Wenjuan, she 
would bashfully lower her head.  After a few "failed kisses", Lau Wai 
Keung could not help but pretend to "force kiss" Feng Wenjuan.  She felt 
ever more embarrassed.  Director Wong Jing looked on and laughed at them.

* (2012/12/15) The 55th Asia Pacific Film Festival last night held its 
opening ceremony banquet.  The opening film was CZ12 (SUP YI SUN CHIU).  
Jackie Chan led "Jackie Girls" Zhang Lanxin, Yao Xingtong and Laura 
Weissbecker in attendance.  Jackie Chan again responded to his "Hong Kong 
protest regulation" comment.  He stated that he only did what he thought 
was right.  He was not worried that the film box office would be affected.  
He even boldly said, "I can't be criticized to death, I have the world 
box office!"
	Jackie Chan's "Hong Kong protest regulation" comment led to 
online criticism.  Yesterday he responded, "I don't need to explain more, 
whether it is me, the Chief Executive or the leaders, the starting point 
is for the good of Hong Kong.  Maybe I don't know how to express myself 
but I hope everyone would respect each other.  Am I constantly criticized?  
Let them criticize, I won't be upset.  I have my freedom of speech, I 
can't be criticized to death or written to death."
	As for the boycott against his movies and its possible effect on 
the box office, Jackie Chan arrogantly said, "I have the world box office, 
I only did what I thought was right.  Some people would target me over one 
thing, some people would target me long term."
	Jackie Chan was very happy to run into buddy Eric Tsang Chi Wai.  
As for Chi Wai and Kenny Wee (Wong Ho)'s troubles, he joked, "I can't

Film Festival award ceremony worship ceremony.  He said that this year 
the preparation time was more intense, but if the response was good he 
would consider Macau for the host of next year as well.
	Veronica Yip Yuk Hing's mother earlier passed away.  Chi Wai said 
that Hing Hing originally happily returned to Hong Kong to make a Lunar 
New Year film and see her mother, but negative news troubled her.  She

Pacific Film Festival Best Actor, again against GF*BF Joseph Chang Hau 
Chuen.  Everyone feels that Chang Hau Chuen "continues to be the runner 
up" as Lau Ching Wan's rivals are COLD WAR's Leung Ka Fai and MASQUERADE's 
Lee Byung-Hun.  MASQUERADE earlier at the 49th Grand Bell Award won 15 
awards to become its big winner, Lee Byung-Hun even won his first Best 
Actor with the film.  He and Lau Ching Wan vie for the Asia Pacific Best 
Actor with award winning films.  Viewers who have watched COLD WAR praised 
Leung Ka Fai as the hawk operation deputy commissioner Lee Man Bun as 
both outstanding in look and acting.  He leaves a deep impression and is 
the dark horse.
	As for Best Actress, it should be a race between GF*BF's Kwai 
Lun-Mei and ALL ABOUT MY WIFE's Lim Soo-Jung.  Both are fresh out of the 
oven Best Actresses, the former won the Taiwan Golden Horse Award and the 
latter the Korea Blue Dragon Award Best Actress.  Kwai Lun-Mei in the 
film played Mabel who is in a love triangle with the Chang Hau Chuen 
played Liam and the Rhydian Vaughan played Aaron.  Lim Soo-Jung in ALL

has received compliments for it.
	Lo Hoi Pang with LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE again competes for Best 
Supporting Actor against the GUNS N ROSES' Fan Wei and KEY OF LIFE's 
Teruyuki Kagawa.  THE WEDDING DIARY's Wai Ying Hung, THE THIEVES' Gianna

* (2012/12/14) Sammy Sum Chun Hin and Winnie Leung Man Yi earlier worked 
on a passionate kiss scenes for the film YOUNG AND DANGEROUS: RELOADED 
(GOO WAT JAI: GONG WU SUN DIT JUI).  To relax and get into their 
characters, two strangers both drank before the shoot.  They even 
cleared the set with producer Wong Jing's personal supervision.  Leung 
Man Yi praised Sum Chun Hin's professionalism and thus she did not feel 
embarrassed.  She admitted that she was a little nervous.  Playing a mob 
boss, Bob Lam Sing Bun used foul language and threw red wine at Jim Chim 
Shui Man.

* (2012/12/14) International superstar Chow Yun Fat in the new film THE 
LAST TYCOON (DAI SEUNG HOI) played a fruit vendor.  To coordinate with 
Huang Xiaoming who played his younger version in a pear peeling scene, 
Fat Gor asked a fruit store "teacher".  Everyday he had to peel over 20 
pears.  He sent the pear peeling video for Huang Xiaoming to study.  
Fat Gor later praised Huang Xiaoming for his intelligence as they did the 
exact same thing.

"Chinese people need to be controlled" recently again made another "grand 
statement".  He said that Hong Kong has already become the protest 
capital that "complains about everything and protest against everything", 
which should be controlled.  Jackie Chan instantly was blasted online, 
as a protest to stop watching his movies rose.  Even Mainland netizens 
called him brain dead.
	Jackie Chan yesterday attended the CZ12 (SUP YI SUN CHIU) 
premiere.  He explained that his intention was to improve Hong Kong, 
perhaps he misused his worlds but he would respect everyone's opinions.  
Was he supporting the China central government?  Jackie Chan said, "I am 
not saying anything more."  
	Jackie Chan earlier in a Mainland publication interview not only 
reiterated "Chinese people need to be controlled" but also claimed that 
Hong Kong has become the protest capital that "complains about everything 
and protests against everything", thus "what can be protested against and 
what cannot be protested against should be regulated".  Jackie Chan also 
defended the Chief Executive, "Everyone who came to power got yelled at.  
I don't believe that every Chief Executive came to power to harm Hong 
Kong."  His comment upset many Hong Kong people, who aired their 
displeasure online and even stated that they would boycott against him.  
Even Mainland netizens called him brain dead.
	Jackie Chan last night attended the CZ12 premiere and responded 
online before hand.  "I never imagine that a few words from me again 
take up some newspaper headlines.  If you disagree with my opinions, I 
absolutely respect your freedom (to criticize).  When I see so many 
protests in Hong Kong, I would worry that foreign visitors would ask if 
Hong Kong is really that bad?  I have been to many places and I feel Hong 
Kong truly is great.  I feel that I talked about my disobedient behavior 
of my youth only because I want to say that when I wasn't educated I 
would think about using violence to resolve problems.  Originally I 
should listen to my friends' opinions and speak less, but because I love 
Hong Kong I can tolerate no more.  I was fast with my words and spoke my 
mind.  My flaw is 'saying what I think', sometimes my words don't convey 
what I mean.  I welcome anyone to correct my mistakes.  I actually only 
want to say, people cannot disobey the law.  Governments and leaders have 
to think of a fair way to manage their people and resources."
	Jackie Chan was asked about being blasted online.  He said, "It's 
no big deal!  Who truly doesn't want Hong Kong to do well?  When everyone 
disagree, I would respect their freedom of speech.  Originally I want to 
properly explain, but in the general atmosphere now it would only get 
worse.  I believe those who understand would."  Was he supporting the 
China central government?  Jackie Chan after thinking for two seconds 
said, "I am done, I am not saying anything more.  Maybe my words don't

	As for his good friend Eric Tsang Chi wai recently was accused of 
slapping Kenny Wee (Wong Ho), Jackie Chan asked if he was messing around.  
He would ask Chi Wai.  Jackie Chan also said, "I read about (Josie) Ho 
Chiu Yi's news but I don't know the details.  I only wish for harmony in 
the society."  Speaking of Chi Wai and Chiu Yi's troubles were related to

* (2012/12/14) Veronica Yip Yuk Hing's mother passed away on the 9th at 
the age of 89.  Hing Hing continued to work on her Lunar New Year film 
despite the sorrow as she kept the news to herself.  She tearfully spoke 
to TVB Entertainment News Station and said that her mother's passing 
saddened her very much but she was already mentally prepared.  She 
believed that her mother went to a good place and no longer had to suffer 
from illness and pain.  She also saw the people who she wanted to see and 
said what she wanted to say, so she left peacefully.  Hing Hing felt 
lucky that the negative news about her husband's failed investment did 
not surface until after her mother's passing so her mother did not have 
to worry.
	Hing Hing said that although her mother would not be able to 
see it, she would do her best on the Lunar New Year.  She did not regret 
returning to Hong Kong for the movie and was happy to be with her mother

ago held its anniversary party.  Sandra Ng Kwan Yu, Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi 
Lam), Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Yen Chi Tan, Louis Koo Tin Lok, Irene Wan Bik 
Ha and others attended.  At the event trailers for BABY BLUES 3D (3D 
GWAI NGAN), HOTEL DELUXE (BAK SING JAU DIM) and SAVING GENERAL YANG (JUNG 
LIT YEUNG GA JEUNG), and the IP MAN musical that received Master Ip 
Ching's authorization, as well as the announcement of the IP MAN 3 
production next year.
	Speaking of Veronica Yip Yuk Hing's press conference to clarify 
her husband Wu Siu Ming's rumored financial troubles, Kwan Yu said, 
"Earlier when Hing Hing worked on her final scene, I visited the set.  At 
the time she already knew about the magazine article.  We talked but I 
can't reveal what we talked about, the report isn't true.  I told her 
coming back to make a movie after 16 years she definitely would be a news 
figure, people would follow her and being written about would be very 
normal."  Kwan Yu knew that Yip Yuk Hing was very bored in the U.S. and

feel any pressure because he did his best every time.  The pressure would 
be on the boss and the director because exceeding the two previous 
installments would be difficult.  Did he get a raise?  Yen Chi Tan said, 
"Suitable adjustment, I get a raise when I should.  It's proportional to 
the subject."  Speaking of THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI)'s release 
next year, was he worried about comparison?  Yen Chi Tan said, "Comparison 
is good, I have looked forward to THE GRANDMASTERS for a long time.  I 
too want to learn from (Tony) Leung Chiu Wai."

* (2012/12/14) The film THE GUILLOTINES (HUET DIK JI) will be released on 
December 27.  Shawn Yue Man Lok, Huang Xiaoming, director Andrew Lau Wai 
Keung and producer Peter Chan Ho Sun posed for a handsome Christmas 
photo.  The costume designer designed their looks and the two lead actors 
very quickly changed.  Chan Ho Sun brought his own pink shirt, but Lau Wai 
Keung looked disappointed at what the designer prepared for him.  
Actually he minded the large sized clothing.  He said, "I am not that fat, 
why did you give me large size?"  Lok Jai coaxed him and said that he 
was extraordinary handsome.  He not only was a director but also an 
actor!

* (2012/12/13) The Jackie Chan starred Emperor film CZ12 (SUP YI SUN 
CHIU) two nights ago held its premiere in Beijing.  With shorter hair for 
his new film NEW POLICE STORY 2013, he appeared in a hat.  Jackie Chan 
admitted that now he is unable to perform some dangerous stunts.  "If I 
have a chance, I definitely would dare to do it.  Although now many 
stunts I can't perform anymore, I am very proud that I was able to 
complete them once and show my child."
	Sa Beining was the event host.  Jackie Chan who was once linked in 
rumors to Zhang Ziyi often mentioned her in front of Sa Beining and the 
crowd roared, leaving Sa Beining very embarrassed.  Jackie Chan also 
demonstrated his kung fu and invited Sa Beining to spar with him.  Of 
course Jackie Chan "won overwhelmingly".

* (2012/12/13) Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers, Hong Kong Film 
Director's Guild and other affiliated organizations yesterday held a 
press conference to plead with the government to issue additional free 
television licenses as soon as possible.  Federation of Hong Kong 
Filmmakers president Ng See Yuen felt that "film and television are 
family".  Many excellent filmmakers came from television, and more 
television stations would be able to strengthen employment opportunities 
and cultivate talent.  They also stressed that they are not targeting 
any company and helping anyone, their starting point is purely due to the 
future of the industry.
	Director Yee Tung Sing also pointed out that the Hong Kong film 
industry generation gap has become more and more severe, he believed that 
an additional television station would be able to resolve the issue.  As 
for negative competition, he said, "I can't see this possibility, instead 
it would improve local production.  (Did Ricky Wong Wai Kei ask you for 
help?)  No, I only met him once.  We didn't even chat."  Was he afraid 
that the market was not large enough and ATV would have to close?  The 
organizations felt that should be left for the market and investors to 
gauge, as they believed competition would bring improvement.

* (2012/12/13) Director Ann Hui On Wa directed new film GOLDEN AGE after a 
year of preparation earlier announced its production start in Harbin.  At 
the production start banquet Tang Wet put on a cute Lei Feng hat and posed 
for a photo with Hui On Wa.  According to another actor Wang Qianyuan, 
Vicki Zhao Wei will join the production.  As for the mysterious lead 
actor he has been rumored to be Mainland actor Feng Shaofeng.

* (2012/12/13) Yesterday a magazine reported that Veronica Yip Yuk Hing 
returned to Hong Kong to make the Lunar New Year film in Hong Kong due to 
her husband's financial issues.  Yip Yuk Hing held a press conference 
immediately, stated that their finance was in stable condition, her 
displeasure at the magazine's mudslinging and announced this might be her 
first film because her husband has already objected to her return.
	When asked whether she regretted her return, she admitted that she 
had no regret.  Her husband has already urged her not to act numerous 
times.  Originally she planned to work on a television series later.  
After the report surfaced her husband objected even more and thus she said 
that this might be her final film.  She revealed that she will leave Hong 
Kong Friday.  As for whether her husband would prohibit her from returning 
to Hong Kong to promote, she said that unless she was dead or paralyzed 
she would still return.
	Yip Yuk Hing's mother meanwhile passed away on the 9th around 
2PM at the age of 89.  Hing Hing said, "That day after 20 some hours at 
work, I returned to the hotel around noon.  After showering and sleeping 
for less than ten minutes I received a call to say that Mommy has been 
sent to the emergency room, so I didn't dare to turn off the phone.  The 
hospital told me to mentally prepared."
	Hing Hing broke down and said, "I never regretted the decision to 
return to Hong Kong to make a movie because of it I am able to return to 
Hong Kong for such a long time, to be with Mama for so long.  Outside 
work I spent all the time with Mama.  For 16 years I have never spent so 
much time with Mama.  The only part that a little tougher was after 
Mama's passing I still had to work.  I was able to sleep for five or six 
hours after taking medication, then I had to work again.  I am very proud 
of myself, I was able to do that.  I didn't tell anyone because I didn't 
want to affect the team's emotions."  She continued, "My husband is 
willing to let me come back, he was only afraid that people would make 
stuff up.  Finally that came true.  So far he has never blamed me once.  
He knows seeing Mama was very important, he also knows that I had a lot of 
fun from acting."

* (2012/12/13) The Emperor and Media Asia joint release SPECIAL RESCUE 
HERO (DUT JUNG GAU WOON YING HUNG) began production yesterday.  Bosses 
Albert Yeung Sau Sing and Peter Lam Kin Ngok led the worship ceremony 
with actors Nicholas Tse Ting Fung, Shawn Yue Man Lok, Simon Yam Tat Wa, 
Hu Jun, Bai Bing and others in attendance.
	Ting Fung earlier for the film attended a day of training in Pat 
Heung.  Fire fighters were also on hand to provide instructions and take 
completely safety measures.  He joked that in the film he would not in a 
muscle contest because he discovered that in uniform all the fire fighters 
were almost the same size.  Would he have many dangerous scenes?  "They 
are fine."  Would his mother worry?  "This time we will be fighting fire 
in full equipment, it is very safe."  Did he pay attention to his 
friends' recent "ecstasy dinner" storm?  He said that lately he saw such 
strange news and did not want read more about it.  Did he not care about 
his friends?  Ting Fung explained that a man would not deliberately ask, 
which would make it meaningless.  He would absolutely trust his friends.
	His former wife Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi reportedly has a new 
flame.  Ting Fung said that he had no idea and was not worried that she 
would neglect their two sons due to dating.  Did he feel bitter?  "It's 
like it's always been.  I would wish her well.  Should I curse her out 
instead?"  Ting Fung said that he still had no romance.  "Let's make a few 
more movies first!  When the time comes for romance it will come.  She 
may be the pizza delivery girl.  I wouldn't deliberate think about it."
	Playing a fire fighter for the first time, Lok Jai said that in 
the film he would have many dangerous scenes.  Because his face had to be 
on display he would personally perform them all without a double.  Thus 
before the shoot he would properly inspect his clothing in detail to 
avoid injuries.  He said that he could not worry about too much.  He 
could only remain alert and ample sleep would be necessary.
	Bai Bing in the film played the thermal piping expert and had to 
familiarize herself with a lot of professional jargon.  She also had her 
share of action stunts.  Who would she like to have a romance with in the 
film?  She said that the choice was very hard but in the film she had more 
scenes with Hu Jun.  Bonnie Xian (Sin Sik Lai) revealed that earlier she 
had to interrogate and slap Ting Fung.  "I slapped him 4 or 5 times, every 
time I would hit him with full force.  Originally I wanted to greet Ting 
Fung first, but he asked me to hit for real.  We didn't have any bad 
take, but when I saw his face and ear were all red from my slaps I felt 
very sorry.  Ting Fung said that he was fine.  This scene was very 
memorable for me."

1. MING PAO DAILY, DECEMBER  2012, FILM WORDS
EASTERN ETHICS AND GUILT

	THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY is this week's only strong film. 
 Without any competition, of course it has an absolute victory at the box 
office.  This Peter Jackson hit production does not need any introduction 
or detailed discussion.  Viewers who have not seen it already know that 
it is similar to the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy.  Here let's first talk 
about two alternative films -- Japan's PENANCE is this week's only other 
new film.  Chen Kaige's new film CAUGHT IN THE WEB has already been in 
released for several weeks.  These two East Asian films greatly differ in 
style.  Their commonality is that they each have a social news item that 
triggers complicated ethics and guilt issues and leads to an extraordinary 
incident of fatality.
	These two films reminds me of the suicide that has caught 
international attention: a nurse of Indian heritage at a English 
hospital unknowingly connected an Australian radio station Queen 
Elizabeth impersonation prank call for information of the Duchess of 
Cambridge Kate's pregnancy related hospitalization condition and thus 
committed suicide.  This type of prank is very common in the West, the 
nurse did not make any mistake.  Perhaps because of her her Indian 
heritage she maintained her Eastern women's traditional sense of ethics 
and "committed suicide of guilty"?

PENANCE: Solid And Detailed
	The Kiyoshi Kurosawa written and directed five part mystery 
series PENANCE for Japanese film is based on a novel by CONFESSIONS'  
original writer Kanae Minato.  It is the perfect display of the 
traditional morality and sense of guilty among modern Japanese women.  
The story began 15 years ago at a certain elementary school where a girl 
was cruelly murdered, the girl's mother blame four female classmates for 
not stopping the crime and not identifying the culprit.  15 years later 
four girls grow up and still deeply feel the guilt, they "pay the 
penance" in abnormal and even deranged ways.  Actually the school murder 
had nothing to do with them, why would they need to pay penance?  This 
type of Japanese women mentality is very strange, traditional to the 
extreme.
	The entire series is five hours long, now it is released in the 
first movie with the first three chapters (next week the second film will 
open).  In the first chapter the cute and gentle nurse (Yu Aoi) develops 
a unusual marriage with a rich kid who has a doll fetish and leads to a 
murder.  In the second chapter the kendo practicing, righteous teacher 
(Ekio Koike) bravely fends off a knife wielding assailant but is 
accused of "excessive use of violence" by some teachers, students and 
parents.  In the third chapter an autistic woman thinks a girl has been 
molested and takes strange action.
	The teacher segment is the most righteous but she instead 
attracts envy and misunderstanding.  The other two parts have very 
abnormal state of mind but delicately displays the excessive pressure  
from morality and sense of guilt, leading to tragedy.  Japan is a nation 
that is full of conflict between traditional pressure and modern 
individualism.  Kiyoshi Kurosawa does not sell any gimmick, achieves 
solid yet detailed drama.  The female leads give outstanding performance 
in all three parts, but the mother (Kyoko Koizumi) truly is excessively 
hateful.  She is the most deranged with her grudge on several innocent 
people. (Three out of five stars)

CAUGHT IN THE WEB: Full and Colorful
	In comparison to Japan, Mainland China today is often accused of 
being impolite and shameless, corrupted and rotten.  Yet as it becomes 
more international, modern and middle class, its society also gradually 
pays attention to civil morality.  Gao Yuanyuan in CAUGHT IN THE WEB 
plays an elegant female assistant in a big company.  One day due to 
serious personal troubles she does not give up her seat on a bus to a 
senior and receives criticism from fellow passengers.  She is even 
captured on the phone and posted online to become the television station's 
headline scandal.  I once heard a friend that passengers giving up their 
seats to seniors has already become the norm in Mainland cities, which is 
better than Hong Kong.  No wonder this film's story begins with the issue 
of giving up seats.
	CAUGHT IN THE WEB performed decently at the Mainland box office 
with almost 200 million yuan RMB.  In Hong Kong it has only made over 
100,000 with most overlooking it.  Perhaps Hong Kong viewers still think 
Mainland films are outdated and behind.  Actually Chen Kaige makes this 
modern city star ensemble commercial film decently, better than his 
previous film FOREVER ENTHRALLED (MUI LAN FONG) and better than most 
Hong Kong city romance films.  Through the giving up seat incident, this 
film vividly depicts the ecology of a big company and a television 
station.  It involves the open and hidden conflicts on the job and in 
love, parodies upper class extravagance and hypocrisy, and the media's 
use of "morality" to shock the audience.  Despite the gimmick for the 
sake of drama that even melodramatically coincides with a terminal 
patient romance, overall it has both laughter and tears and is rather 
full and colorful.
	This time Gao Yuanyuan looks poignant and likeable.  Yao Chen as 
the relentless television station diva is also great.  Lead actor Mark 
Chao (Chiu Yau Ting) and his cousin are also decent.  As a Chinese 
modern commercial film, this one achieves conventional entertainment 
value and social satire.  I feel it is on par if not better than many 
conventional Hollywood hits. (Three out of five stars) - SHEK KEI

  During the early years of the Republic era, in the North-East region of
  China, the people are suffering from the power struggle among the local
  Warlords, bandits, and Japanese invaders. Warlord Lam is not a leader of
  great vision, but having a patriotic heart, stands firm in his own
  beliefs, despite the several solicitations and temptations from Japan. 

  The only ‘paradise’ within the region is ‘Lucky Town’, the one place
  where no one dared to attack. Rumors abound that this place is cursed,
  for whenever anyone attempted to invade Lucky Town, they would disappear
  and vanish without a trace. In reality, there are seven kung fu masters
  who have retreated into the shadows and resided here. They are Manysons
  Madonna and Madonhung, the owners of a steamed bread shop Nam Mor Bing,

  salesman and Mamasan Maggie, the brothel owner. Every one of them is a

  Lam’s daughter, Cheryl is very fond of culinary arts, and often does
  grocery shopping in Lucky Town. She is pretty and lovely and very much
  favoured by the Seven Masters, especially Horny Four who falls for her
  at first sight and regards her as his dream lover. 

  The Japanese secret agent, Kiyoko Kurosawa, allied with traitors from
  the Tiger’s Den: Tiger Hong, Jaguar Hong and Phoenix Hong, to set up a
  secret outpost to send secret-coded messages back to Japan. Young
  patriots, Yan Fang who disguised herself as a man, and Howard Luo,
  infiltrate Tiger’s Den at night, trying to steal the code book. They
  lose the fight to the Hongs, Howard sacrifices himself to save Yan who
  was wounded.

  On the run, Yan is rescued by Cheryl. Mistaking Yan as a man, Cheryl
  falls for Yan. She then brings Yan to Lucky Town and begs the Seven
  Masters to cure Yan. 

  On the other hand, Warlord Lam saves a pretty lady and grows fond of
  her. This lady is actually Kiyoko Kurosawa in disguise. Using Ninjutsu
  skills, Kiyoko seduces Lam and controls his will. She then organises a
  wedding for Lam and herself, in the hope of becoming the warlord’s wife
  so she can control Lam’s army. On the wedding day, Cheryl and the Seven
  Masters arrive in time to ruin her wedding plans. Lam regains his senses
  finally and unites together with the Seven Masters, to fight against
  Kiyoko and the Hongs...

  During the Manchurian-ruled Qing Dynasty, Emperor Yong Zheng established
  a secret assassination squad known as the Guillotines to eliminate all

  adopts Western ideas and technology. To consolidate his power under a

  a major influence on generations of writers in the Chinese diaspora, and
  beyond. At times sad, at times funny, the film interviews 26 writers,
  revealing a woman of unusual charisma, integrity and determination, and
  a person in continual exile. Born and raised in wartime China, Nieh
  left China in 1949 for peace in Taipei, and then left for love in 1964
  to the U.S. In 1967, she founded the prestigious International Writing
  Program (IWP) with her late husband, the American poet Paul Engle, in
  Iowa. Nine years later, they were nominated by more than 300 writers for
  the Nobel Peace Prize. IWP has nurtured over 1,400 writers from over 140
  countries, including Nobel Literature Prize winners Orhan Pamuk (My Name
  is Red, Snow), and Mo Yan (Red Sorghum), and other noted writers
  including Yu Hua (To Live, Brothers), and Lin Hwa-min (author, and
  artistic director, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre). Director Angie Chen has
  absorbingly captured a remarkable figure in modern Chinese literature.

  her ashes to her hometown and bury her in the sea”.

  Just before turning 50, he had married Yoko who had visited Eiji’s
  workplace, a prison facility, as a singer for the inmates. Their late
  marriage did not include any children of their own but they had led a
  peaceful and happy married life. Thus, the letter comes as a surprise to
  Eiji who had thought the 15 years of living together had brought
  complete understanding of each other. Why had she not told him of her
  wishes when she was alive?

  student from Beijing!  Tong Yi is sweet looking and even an international 
  model, the otaku "goddess" makes Thirteen's heart pound.  Yoyo runs into 
  her elementary school classmate and rich kid Lin Shu Ho, who uses 
  different ways to bring back their memories over the years to win over

  Hosho is a bumbling lawyer who is tasked with defending Goro Yabe, a
  man arrested for the murder of his wife. Yabe proclaims his innocence,

  murder. Hosho heads to the inn where Yabe stayed and encounters the
  ghost of samurai Rokubei, who admits he was the one pressing down on
  Yabe. Hosho successfully brought Rokubei to the court as a witness. The
  problem is, the spook can only be seen by a selected group of people.
  So begins the struggle to prove Yabe's innocence.
