The production stayed for 3 weeks as he received the local authority and friends' assistance; earlier Jackie Chan went to Taitung for an appreciation event. The film was about the theft of the "12 Chinese Zodiacs". Jackie Chan was asked who did the Diaoyu Island belong to? He said, "Diaoyu Island is definitely ours. Now we can only rely on government departments to handle it. I can't think of any way to resolve this." * (2012/10/03) Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam) in the film LOVE IS PAJAMAS (NAM YUN YU YI FOK) played a model who spoke very fast and had a strong desire for control, which was drastically different from her in real life. However, she admitted that when she was younger she had no idea what dating was. Indeed she felt men were like clothes; now she is different. She knows what she needs. Has she already chosen Aaron Kwok Fu Sing? She sweetly smiled but did not say. Is her love life very perfect now? She said, "I can definitely say I am very happy with my career, as for love, I ask for very little. I won't give myself so much pressure, so I am pretty happy. I can say I am living the life I want to live." Lynn revealed that in the film she and Raymond Lam Fung had a bed scene, but she was in the bed and Lam Fung was on the edge. Was she disappointed that she was unable to work with a bed scene with Chok Fung? She admitted that she did not have enough guts for bed scenes. Would she need Sing Sing's permission? She said that she would not. She could make her own decisions about work. If the story required it she would make it. Yet when she heard about a possible French kiss she surprisingly said, "It's just a movie, it's not necessary. I am afraid that it would be awkward and I would perform poorly." Lynn did not mind working with Sing Sing on a movie but did not want to play a couple. "If we work together we have to play some special characters. A couple isn't special. I instead want to play a mean boss and order subordinate Sing Sing around. However I am afraid of working with him because he is very serious at work. As soon as he looks at me I would be scared. However no film company is interested in us yet." * (2012/10/03) Taiwan actor Eddie Peng Yu-Yen in the film TAI CHI 0 played the villain for the first time in his ten year career. He was not worried about his image, instead he was happy about being able to play a villain. "Soon after I started making movies I already wanted to try different characters. Due to my age, the poor Taiwan film environment earlier and contract issues, work was less than smooth. After JUMP! ASHIN, many directors asked me to perform. I have more opportunities, and I have learned to cherish properly every chance. At the same time I also understand I can force anything. When I was younger, the character was very limited. I couldn't play many characters and I would complain. Now I understand that even if someone asks me, I still would have been a child playing an adult. Like an adult can't pretend to young, it just wouldn't look good." Peng Yu-Yen worked with Tony Leung Ka Fai on three movies in a row, TAI CHI 0, TAI CHI HERO and COLD WAR (HONG JIN). He praised Ka Fai as a good elder, husband and father. "Being able to work with Brother Ka Fai, I feel very lucky. I took great care of me. Whether I have questions about work or performance, I would ask them. He was very glad and patient as he answered me, taught me, even for dinner I would look for him. He is a great actor, a good husband, a good father. From him I have learned a lot." He would set his sight on Leung Ka Fai, as he hoped to be like him with both career and family while knowing how to enjoy life. Will he hurry up, wed and start a family? Peng Yu-Yen said that he will have to ask his mother. "I grew up in a single parent family. Mama and Sis took great care of me so I have to respect them. They have to like my other half. I hope to have a good other half. Now I am busy with movies, I don't have time to date." * (2012/10/03) The 49th Golden Horse Award nominations were announced yesterday. This year's competition for the always attention getting categories of Best Actor and Best Actress is rather fierce. Nominated with the romance GF*BF for Best Actor, Joseph Chang Hau Chuen will face four Hong Kong Best Actors Nicholas Tse Ting Fung, Nick Cheung Ka Fai, Lau Ching Wan and Chapman To Man Jat. To Man Jat was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor with DIVA. As for Best Actress, the situation was reversed as LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE (DUET MING GUM)'s Best Actress nominee Denise Ho Wan Si was the only Hong Kong actress nominated. Mainland film MYSTERY received eight nominations, the most nominated film. The Golden Horse Award will take place on November 24 in Yilan, Taiwan. Yesterday Taiwan actors Yang Ning and Gina Lee Chien Na announced the nominations. Hong Kong film LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE received six nominations including Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Editing. Lau Ching Wan and Ho Wan Si both were nominated. Ching Wan would compete with THE VIRAL FACTOR (YIK JIN)'s Tse Ting Fung, NIGHTFALL (DAI JUI BO)'s Cheung Ka Fai and VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KET)'s To Man Jat. In comparison to several Best Actors, GF*BF nominee Chang Hau Chuen seemed to have difficulty fending them off alone. Media Asia said that Peter Lam Kin Ngok invested in this film and thanked the entire team for its hard work. He hoped everyone would continue to support Hong Kong style films. Lau Ching Wan was very happy and thanked To Kei Fung for giving him a challenge. As for NIGHTFALL, Cheung Ka Fai's hellish weight loss paid off. When he learned about the Best Actor nomination he was very excited, and at the same time he remembered to thank the boss Bill Kong Chi Keung, director Roy Chow Hin Yeung, screen writer To Chi Long and the team. He pointed out that the character of Wong Yuen Yeung to him was absolutely an acting breakthrough. Ka Fai said, "This time among the five nominated actors, four are Hong Kong actors. With this performance, no matter who wins and who loses in the end, everyone should feel encouraged about their colleagues and Hong Kong film for such an achievement. It absolutely is something to be happy about." Tse Ting Fung said that he never thought that he would be nominated with an action film like THE VIRAL FACTOR, so he was particularly happy. "Texas Best Actor" To Man Jat was nominated for both Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. In the Best Supporting Actor category, Ah Jat will compete with VULGARIA's Ronald Cheng Chung Kei. Ah Jat said, "I had two experiences before, but I lost. So the award defines on fate. This time with two nominations at one award show, they mean that I have to participate. The company definitely will make room for me because lately I am busy with film productions." Cheng Chung Kei online thanked director Pang Ho Cheung and joked that everyone will have to go for spicy hot pot casserole together. He will even have to bring "cow favorite". As for Best Actress Ho Wan Si with LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE faces LOVE IS NOT BLIND's Bai Baihe, MYSTERY's Hao Lei, GF*BF's Gwei Lun-Mei and TOUCH OF THE LIGHT's Sandrine Pinna (Cheung Yung Yung). Ah Si was light on acting experience so this time her chances are slimmer. As for her nomination, Ah Si posted online, "I am scared to death!!!! How did this happen!!!!" She also congratulated the director and Brother Ching Wan and the team on their nominations. Dada Chan Jing with VULGARIA was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress. To Kei Fung was the only Hong Kong director to be nominated. As for Best Feature Film nominees included BEIJING BLUES, MYSTERY, LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE, GF*BF and THE BULLET VANISHES. Director Law Chi Leung was very pleased with THE BULLET VANISHES' four nominations, especially the Best Feature Film. 2012 GOLDEN HORSE AWARD NOMINATIONS http://www.goldenhorse.org.tw/ui/index.php?class=ghac&func=nw&lang=en&switch_lang=1 BEST FEATURE FILM BEIJING BLUES MYSTERY LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE GF*BF THE BULLET VANISHES BEST SHORT FILM 6TH MARCH THE HOME GLEANERS THE PRESENT MY GRADUATION TRAVEL BEST DOCUMENTARY HAND IN HAND VOYAGE IN TIME CHINA HEAVYWEIGHT MONEY AND HONEY BEST DIRECTOR Gao Qunshu (BEIJING BLUES) Lou Ye (MYSTERY) Johnnie To Kei Fung (LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE) Yang Ya-Che (GF*BF) Doze Niu Chen-Zer (LOVE) BEST NEW DIRECTOR Yang Yi-Chien, Jim Wang (CHA CHA FOR TWINS) Fung Kai (DIN TAO: LEADER OF THE PARADE) Hero Lin (SILENT CODE) Tsai Yueh-Hsun (BLACK & WHITE: THE DAWN OF ASSAULT) Chang Jung-Chi (TOUCH OF THE LIGHT) BEST LEADING ACTOR Nick Cheung Ka Fai (NIGHTFALL) Lau Ching Wan (LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE) Joseph Chang (GF*BF) Chapman To Man Jat (VULGARIA) Nicholas Tse Ting Fung (THE VIRAL FACTOR) BEST LEADING ACTRESS Bai Baihe (LOVE IS NOT BLIND) Hao Lei (MYSTERY) Denise Ho Wan Si (LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE) Gwei Lun-Mei (GF*BF) Sandrine Pinna (TOUCH OF THE LIGHT) BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR Wu Gang (WHITE DEER PLAIN) Chang Shu-Hao (GF*BF) Ronald Cheng Chung Kei (VULGARIA) Zhuang Kai-Xun (STILT) Chapman To Man Jat (DIVA) BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS Dada Chan Jing (VULGARIA) Amber Kuo (LOVE) Ivy Chen Yi-Han (LOVE) Liang Jing (DESIGN OF DEATH) Fan Hsaio-Shuan (THE SILENT WAR) BEST NEW PERFORMER Peijia Huang (CHA CHA FOR TWINS) Chun-Mei Guo (FLYING DRAGON, DANCING PHOENIX) Zhang Zixuan (LOVE IS NOT BLIND) Qi Xi (MYSTERY) Eric Lin Hui-Min (STARRY STARRY NIGHT) BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY Yang Yi-Chen (CHA CHA FOR TWINS) Dai Yan, Gao Qunshu (BEIJING BLUES) Mei Feng, Yu Fan, Lou Ye (MYSTERY) Milkyway Creative Team, Au Kin Yee, Wong King Fai (LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE) Yang Ya-Che (GF*BF) BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY Wang Quanan (WHITE DEER PLAIN) Bao Jingjing (LOVE IS NOT BLIND) Xu Haofeng (ARROW ARBITRATION) Tom Lin Shu-Yu (STARRY STARRY NIGHT) Guan Hu (DESIGN OF DEATH) BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY LUTZ Reitemeier (WHITE DEER PLAIN) CAO Dun (LOVE IS NOT BLIND) WU Di (BEIJING BLUES) Jake POLLOCK (GF*BF) Song Xiao Fei (DESIGN OF DEATH) BEST VISUAL EFFECTS Kent Chen, Horn Hsu (CHA CHA FOR TWINS) XIAO Yang, Chang Song, A LAW, LI Ming-Hsung, LI Jin-Hui (STARRY STARRY NIGHT) Wook Kim, Frankie Chung, Josh Cole (FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE) Frankie Chung (BLACK & WHITE: THE DAWN OF ASSAULT) Koan HUI, Chang Hongsong (PAINTED SKIN: THE RESURRECTION) BEST ART DIRECTION HUO TingXiao (WHITE DEER PLAIN) Penny Tsai (STARRY STARRY NIGHT) YEE Chung-man, LAU Man Hung (FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE) Lin Mu (DESIGN OF DEATH) MAN Lim Chung (THE SILENT WAR) BEST MAKEUP & COSTUME DESIGN Fang Chi Luen, Li-Wen Hsu (LOVE) Stanley CHEUNG (THE BULLET VANISHES) Lin Mu (DESIGN OF DEATH) Tim YIP (TAI CHI 0) MAN Lim Chung (THE SILENT WAR) BEST ACTION CHOREOGRAPHY XU Haofeng (ARROW ARBITRATION) CHIN Ka Lok (MOTORWAY) YUEN Bun, LAN Hai Han, SUN Jian Kui (FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE) Cyril Raffaelli, LEE Chung Chi (BLACK & WHITE: THE DAWN OF ASSAULT) Sammo HUNG (TAI CHI 0) BEST ORIGINAL FILM SCORE DING Wei, LIN Zhaoyang (LOVE IS NOT BLIND) Peyman Yazdanian, Johann Johannsson (MYSTERY) AN Wei, WANG fan (ARROW ARBITRATION) CHEN Chien Chi (LOVE) Teddy Robin, Tomy WAI (THE BULLET VANISHES) BEST ORIGINAL FILM SONG SHE & ME Lyric : ciacia HER Composer : ciacia HER Performer : ciacia HER (CHA CHA FOR TWINS) DOREMI Lyric : Lin Xi Composer : LO Tayu Performer : Sammi CHENG (ROMANCING IN THIN AIR) DIN TAO Lyric : Lui Wei Ren Composer : Lui Wei Ren Performer : Alan KUO (DIN TAO: LEADER OF THE PARADE) BEST FILM EDITING Chen Po-Wen (MONEY AND HONEY) CHEUNG Ka Fai (NIGHTFALL) YANG Hongyu (BEIJING BLUES) Simon Jacquet (MYSTERY) David Richardson (LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE) BEST SOUND EFFECTS Kinson TSANG, Lai Chi Hung (NIGHTFALL) Phyllis Cheng (THE BULLET VANISHES) Dong Xu (DESIGN OF DEATH) Frank Cheng (BLACK & WHITE: THE DAWN OF ASSAULT) Traithep Wongpaiboon, Nopawat Likitwong (THE SILENT WAR) OUTSTANDING TAIWANESE FILMMAKER OF THE YEAR Chen Po-Wen LIAO Su Jen Jimmy HUANG HUANG Yu-Siang LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Shih Chun * (2012/10/03) An all new free racing form two nights ago held an event in Tsim Sha Tsui and even asked many sexy female artists to attend. Two Mainland milk cows Angelina Zhang (Cheung Woon Nga) and Daniella Wang Lidan did not disappoint. In terms of cup size Cheung Woon Nga seemed to have lost a battle. Later she said, "This time I definitely lose, but everyone are promoting the film so whatever!" Wang Lidan said that she was already used to appear in low cut clothing every time. Cheung Woon Nga felt the same way. Before she was an artist she never pushed up. Luckily Hong Kong people were civilized and courteous as they absolutely would not cop a feel. However she also revealed that online she was taken advantage of and even sexually harassed. "They said, 'since you chest was so big let me touch it.' Some even asked for an one night stand. They really are irresponsible. I of course was upset." Cheung Woon Nga said that although she played a wild girl in the film, she was not the same way in reality. She hoped to be able to make more movies with a healthier image. Was she afraid of being typecast? She understood that the future road would be hard. Now she only wants to improve herself more. In addition, also on hand were Sukie Shek Wing lei, Justin Cheung Kin Sing, Gregory Wong Chung Hiu and DUE WEST OUR SEX JOURNEY's cast. * (2012/10/03) The 2012 National Art Elite National Day celebration yesterday took place at the Hong Kong Coliseum. Raymond Wong Pak Ming was invited to perform in the "celebrity hit" segment and performed an English song. Although two days ago he only rehearsed once, Wong Pak Ming was still full of confidence. He said, "The event wanted me to try a new performance. I thought singing would be refreshing, so I tried the difficult challenge. (Do you constantly karaoke?) Occasionally, since it was rare to be able to sing at the Hong Kong Coliseum, I should sing poorly." Last week Wong Pak Ming will bring his new film LOVE IS PAJAMAS (NAM YUN YU YI FOOK) cast to promote in the Mainland. At the same time he would also begin to plan for his Lunar New Year film. He said, "I have met with (Eric) Tsang Chi Wai to see if we can work together. Finally we end up each working on our own. (Who did not want to work together?) I welcome working together very much. (What about the cast?) Wait until the script is available first!" As for his son's wedding, he said that it might be next year. was he pleased with his future daughter in law? he said that his son was then so was he. As for grandchild he would let it take its natural course. He also revealed that his son was writing the IP MAN 3 script. The film will be shot in 3D so its production will definitely cost over 100 million yuan. Will Donnie Yen Chi Tan still star? He also had reservation. "Wait until the script is out. It won't be shot until next year, let Wai Jai (Tony Leung Chiu Wai)'s THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI) be released first. (Maybe yours will be released before Wai Jai's?) No way! I hope he is able to, I want to learn too!" * (2012/10/03) Carina Lau Ka Ling and Chen Kun yesterday appeared at Admiralty to work on new director Flora Lau Wan Man's film COLLISION AVOIDANCE (GOR GAI, tentative title). Speaking of the Lamma Island boat crash tragedy, Ka Ling felt sadness and sorrow. In particular because of the Mid Autumn Festival everyone originally came together for an union but suddenly faced life and death. When she imagined herself in their place she felt every worse. At the same time it proved that life was unexpected and she hoped that everyone would cherish everything. Ka Ling in the new film played the employer while Chen Kun played her driver. In yesterday's scene Chen Kun was smoking in frustration over his money trouble. After several shots it was already completed. This time Ka Ling and Chen Kun in order to support the new director only took symbolic salary. Ka Ling said that since she was supporting a new comer, the salary amount did not matter. In addition she was lucky to be able to help. Ka Ling revealed that the film has already been in production for over half a month, with a little more than a month before completion. In the process did she switch roles and teach the new comer? Ka Ling felt that it was a mutual research. She worked with Chen Kun for the first time and praised that he was not only handsome but also felt a little like Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing. Actually he was strong. In addition, speaking of her friend Faye Wong being blasted online for teasing Harlem Yu Ching Hing and his VOICE OF CHINA team as singing like cats, Ka Ling felt that Faye Wong had to be joking. She had no reason to speak without thinking. Ka Ling explained, "I haven't read the report, but I thought she was just joking. Sometimes even I don't understand what she is writing? I often joke that she is an alien. Whatever she wrote about me I haven't gotten mad over!" Speaking of Pauline Chan Bo Lin's orphan who was under Chiu Li-Kuang's care being caught on photo, Ka Ling said that she was not at liberty to discuss. However he praised Sister Kuang as a honorable heroine. Although she looked like a man both this matter completely showed her motherly side. Her act truly was noble. Chen Kun said that this was not the first time that he was said to look like Gor Gor. In his heart Gor Gor was his idol film and music wise. However he did not feel he looked like him. Would he feel any pressure? Chen Kun said, "I respect him very much. Instead because of this performance I smoked too much and had pressure. Normally I only have a few, now I am smoking a lot." Chen Kun also said that he did not ask about the salary because actors needed more good characters and scripts. Of course if other films gave him a high salary he would not mind either. * (2012/10/02) The Justin Cheung Kin Sing and Celia Kwok Wing Yi starred category III film DUE WEST OUR SEX JOURNEY (YUT LO HEUNG SAI) made HK$11.78 million at the box office as of two days ago. However the film company wanted to pump up the box office more during the National Day holiday and announced that Mainland comrades would buy one ticket get one free when they displayed identification. The film company bosses Stephen Shiu and Stephen Shiu Jr. received online criticism that despite Stephen Shiu often claiming to be a member of the Pan Democracy Camp, he is now taking advantage of the National Day. * (2012/10/02) With the support of the Mainland's Huayi Brothers, Stephen Fung Tak Lun and Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho) formed the Diversion Pictures. Fung directed and Ng produced as they broke through the traditional action film structure to coordinate with the computer, video games and comic book elements that they grew up with to create the film TAI CHI. Because the story was too long, the film was turned into TAI CHI 0 and TAI CHI HERO and released separately. Abandoning the traditional kung fu action film and big star cast, they instead invited Beijing Olympics wushu performance Changquan gold medalist Yuan Xiaochao to be the lead. They explained, "After the success of IP MAN, everyone flocked to make the same type of kung fu action film but had little success. We might as well daringly try something new. TAI CHI's Toronto and Venice Film Festival reviews were great, calling it a very special crazy film; this was KUNG FU PANDA's live action version, the big production scale could rival (Stephen) Chow Sing Chi's KUNG FU HUSTLE." They felt the need to put new comer Yuan Xiaochao in the lead because martial art actors were often just Jet Li (Lee Nin Kit), Donnie Yen Chi Tan. Ng Yin Cho studied martial art since he was little, why did he not personally perform? He said, "I am old, I have to support new comers. Many handsome young guys don't know kung fu, when they fight they don't look good and look fake. So we recruited from Chinese who knew kung fu." Fung Tak Lun added, "Also because the production cost couldn't be balanced. In the past 50% of the film production cost went to the actors. The remaining 50% was not enough for the production. TAI CHI gave up big stars and could use 90% of the funding on the production, which made the scenes much grander. Many Hollywood films with big enough subjects don't use strong stars like SPIDER-MAN. In addition with Chinese film now, stars no longer guarantee box office success. We might as well take a gamble." Yuan Xiaochao reminded them of Lee Nin Kit's naivety and the ability to draw in viewers in SHAOLIN TEMPLE. Although he has never been in movies, his performance was satisfactory and surprising. "Maybe because Yuan Xiaochao studied martial art since he was little, he knew how to persist and had no stage fright. Other Post 80s give up very easily and only know to dream about stardom." Ng Yin Cho described his relationship with Fung Tak Lun as "Old Man and Old Lady". Because they create together, he understands Fung Tak Lun's needs and tries to please him as much as possible. They never argue. "A producer has to handle a lot of minor problems. The job is very busy and very tough but well worth the effort." Although now movies only target the Mainland market, Ng Yin Cho says that Hong Kong is home and hopes that the film is popular at the box office. * (2012/10/02) The film LOVE IS PAJAMAS (NAM YUN YU YI FOK) stars Ronald Cheng Chung Kei, Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam), Raymond Lam Fung and Karena Ng Chin Yu and is expected to be released on October 11. Ronald in the film played a doctorate candidate who specializes in mobile phone apps. In one scene he had to play the parent of a girl. In the past he often had to wear a female disguise, but this first one was a first for him. This time as Auntie Beyonce he had to spend three hours in make up. During the shoot, the girl was very scared when she saw this Auntie Beyonce. Luckily as a father Ronald knew how to talk to children. Finally he affected the girl, who even joked, "Where do you come from? You look darker than me!" Ronald and Ng Chin Yu also had romantic scenes while having watermelons. In this scene he almost kissed Chin Yu, she sneezed and had to run into his face. Unexpectedly during rehearsal Chin Yu truly gave him a head butt. Chin Yu said that she was very happy that Ronald cheered up the entire set and made everyone very happy. For her future boyfriend he must be humorous and funny. * (2012/10/02) Macao Special Administrative Region government National Day concert yesterday took place in Macau. Joey Yung Cho Yi, Raymond Lam Fung, Adason Lo (Law Lik Wai), Sherman Chung Shu Man, William Chan Wai Ting and Soler performed. Chan Wai Ting after yesterday's performance rushed home for the Mid Autumn Festival dinner and moon gazing, while his girlfriend Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin was working on a movie overseas. Recently Chan Wai Ting worked on the mob film TRIAD (JAT JIK). About Wong Jing remaking the new version YOUNG AND DANGEROUS (GOO WAT JAI), he pointed out that the two movies happened in different eras and could not be compared. Was he worried about his figure being compared to Law Chung Him's? "Since a group of foreign male models (A&F models) appeared, Hong Kong girls finally realized what was pretty male physique. If any comparison should be made it should be made with them. I actually didn't deliberate get bigger, I only love weight training." He wished for a good performance for TRIAD. In mid November he will work another film. * (2012/10/02) China's hottest program THE VOICE OF CHINA held its finale in Shanghai two nights ago. The film TAI CHI 0's director Stephen Fung Tak Lun, producer Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho) and female lead AngelaBaby were guest presenters. When Baby, Fung Tak Lun and Ng Yin Cho appeared on stage, the live audience cheered. The trailer even received high decibel support! Later when Baby presented the winners, she even cheered on the winners. "The film TAI CHI 0 actually is just like THE VOICE OF CHINA, a process that 'starts from zero'. No matter what the result is, you have to persist, you have to work hard, you definitely will be able to find your success." This year's National Day slot has been called the "the messiest National Day slot". Five movies with different subjects and genres including TAI CHI 0 battled each other. Two nights ago at THE VOICE OF CHINA, the fierce competition was directly moved to 80,000 viewers and 100 billion television viewers. Currently, TAI CHI 0 is already firmly in first among the National Day films. Baby after the show immediately returned to Hengdian to continue working on DETECTIVE DEE PREQUEL (DIK YUN KIT CHIN JUEN) and had to spend the Mid Autumn Festival with the team. * (2012/10/01) Andy Lau Tak Wa and Sammi Cheng Sau Man early in the morning worked on the Johnnie To Kei Fung's film THE BLIND DETECTIVE (MAN TAM). Wa Jai and Sammi have been separated on the big screen for eight years before reuniting. Their chemistry was still great. They both appeared in pajamas. Wa Jai looked completely different from his usual sharp suit look and looked very intimate and lovable. Sammi with several rollers in her hair was very cute. She was dressed in layers and looked plump like KUNG FU HUSTLE Landlady Yuen Qiu. With Wa Jai they could form the KUNG FU HUSTLE golden couple. In another scene, Sammi suddenly slimed down. Her face was dirty. She lonely dragged a suitcase along on a walk and looked pitiful. After a hour Wa Jai and Sammi did not have any scene. They both hid in their vehicles during their breaks. * (2012/09/30) AngelaBaby yesterday promoted the film TAI CHI in Guangzhou. In the film she had her first taste of being an action actress. During the shoot she even insisted on personally performing the stunts and got bruises all over. She said, "With fight scenes injuries are definite. At first I would feel what I was covered with bruises, later I wanted to say no pain, no gain. Now I felt that it was something minor!" Today she and the team will attend THE VOICE China finale and be guest award presenters. * (2012/09/30) The William Chan Wai Ting, Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung, Edward Chui Woai Tung (Tsui Siu Keung's son), Michelle Wai (Si Nga) and Irene Wan Bik Ha starred TRIAD (JAT JIK) will open on November 15. The latest category III trailer has been released online. The trailer's depiction of the mob left nothing behind, with plenty of foul language, bloody fight scenes, as well as the mob induction ceremony that few knew about. It will realistically appear. The film was about the lower class academic achiever Chan Wai Ting's struggle in the mob. He and two brothers fought life and death and finally sat in the throne of the boss. Among the brothers Chan Wai Ting was the brains; Tsang Kwok Cheung was responsible for finances and Chui Woai Tung the leader of the slaughter. Although Chui Woai Tung was responsible to fight, Chan Wai Ting and Tsang Kwok Cheung also had to train into a muscular shape to play Wise Guys more convincingly. At the same time before work every time he had to spend three hours to touch up their "tattoos". Was Chan Wai Ting worried that the character would affect his image? He said, "If after viewers saw the film truly felt that I was a Wise Guy, I would instead be happy. It would prove that I performed successfully." * (2012/09/30) The film LOVE IS PAJAMAS (NAM YUN YU YI FOK) yesterday held a promotion in Tsuen Wan. Director Vincent Kok Tak Siu, actors Raymond Lam Fung and Raymond Wong Pak Ming attended and played games with fans to celebrate the Mid Autumn Festival. Lam Fung said that he would celebrate the Festival with his family because all four generations were together in Hong Kong on this rare occasion. Would the elders urge him to wed at dinner? He admitted that they have and would ask whether rumors were true. He said, "I would tell them every time, if it was real I would bring them home. So far I haven't brought anyone. (Have they suspected that you are gay?) Since that (Mavis Pan Shuangshuang) they know I am not." Would he not speak of Pan Shuangshuang's name again? He only said that the past did not need to be brought up again, he did not want the media to bring up the subject again. He also said that elders arranged for matchmaking dinners but he used work as an exercise to turn them down. He felt it would be very embarrassing and tense. * (2012/09/29) Teresa Mo Shun Kwan and Karena Ng Chin yu yesterday attended the film LOVE IN PYJAMAS (NAM YUN YU YI FOK) press conference in Guangzhou. She admitted that she treated Ng Chin Yu like her own daughter. "In real life, Chin Yu and my older daughter are only a year apart. In terms of looks and behavior they are very close, so playing emotional scenes with her feels very comfortable." Ng Chin Yu thanked this pretty mother for constantly teaching her about acting and greatly increasing her confidence. The host suggested for her to make her a mentor. Mo Shun Kwan said, "No need, we are already too much like mother and daughter. This relationship is even closer than master and disciple." * (2012/09/29) The Stephen Fung Tak Lun directed film TAI CHI 0 two nights ago held a premiere in Taipei. Actors Tony Leung Ka Fai, Eddie Peng Yu-Yen, AngelaBaby, Stanley Fung Shui Fan attended. Fung Tak Lun's rumored girlfriend Shu Qi also guest starred. Two nights ago at the premiere host Mickey Huang asked Fung Tak Lun why Shu Qi did not attend. He said, "The film company invited her, perhaps she is too busy." Did he want to see her? Fung Tak Lun immediately practiced Tai Chi and said, "I want to see every worker." Although his rumors with Shu Qi was the source of comedy, Fung Tak Lun was not mad at all. Mickey Huang even asked who was the best actor, Shu Qi or someone else? Fung Tak Lun against said, "Teacher Fung performed the best." Peng Yu-Yen in the film played the villain and had a romance with Baby. Baby played a martial art master. In the film she had almost 90% of the fight scenes. She even performed the stunts personally. Two nights ago she took the chance to complain to the director and said, "Why didn't you get a stunt double for me?" Leung Ka Fai said, "Because he couldn't find such a pretty double." Leung Ka Fai said that for the film he spent over two months to study Tai Chi. When asked about Fung Tak Lun's direction, Ka Fai said that everyone would know when they watch the film. The father of a pair of 20 year old twin daughters, Leung Ka Fai kept praising how well raised and how ambitious Peng Yu-Yen was. Finally he even joked, "I hope he would become my son in law, so I deliberately brought him home. My daughters were there, so I showed him my daughters' photos and videos." In addition, Lollipop F at the premiere performed the Taiwan promotional song NO RUSH FOR TAI CHI. Owodog who rather admired Baby said that he has seen every one of her movies and admired her acting very much. * (2012/09/29) The Chow Yun Fat, Liu Yifei, Hiroshi Tamaki, Alec Su (So Yau Peng) and Annie Yi Nung Jing starred THE ASSASSINS (TUNG JEUK TOI). So Yau Peng gave an alternative performance as the least present puppet emperor in history, Emperor Xian of Han. His exceptional acting made this powerless Emperor brilliant. Even though Cao Cao was the important part, historically Emperor Xian of Han always appeared as dispensable, weak and powerless. In THE ASSASSINS however he was given a fresh image, with an all new angle design from screen writers and an all new angle performance from So Yau Peng to make this "least present Emperor" in history look radiant in THE ASSASSINS. "I think this time viewers would definitely remember this powerless Emperor. I used my performance so he would exist." So Yau Peng was full of confidence in his own acting. After THE MESSAGE and DESIGN OF DEATH, So Yau Peng again challenged him and broke through his past "young actor" image. Before the shoot he did his homework and read a variety of stories about Emperor Xian of Han to grasp the character's state of mind. So Yau Peng lamented that in the film Emperor Xian of Han's personality was complex and very challenging to play. With many scenes with him, Fat Gor even praised So Yau Peng for playing the Emperor convincingly. He truly thought he was acting with the Emperor! Yi Nung Jing was absent from the film's Guangzhou promotion earlier, which some speculated was related to Yi Nung Jing earlier complaining about her role being cut heavily from the film except for the passion scene online. Director Zhao Linshan denied that and stated that everyone's screen time was cut. Chow Yun Fat had the most cut. The distributor explained that Yi Nung Jing was absent because she was not feeling well. Director Zhao Linshan also said that if the film made over 200 million RMB, Fat Gor would lead everyone to streak on the beaches of the Maldives! * (2012/09/29) Tony Leung Ka Fai and Aaron Kwok Fu Sing earlier won the Hong Kong Film Award and the Golden Horse Award for Best Actor. They in the new release next month COLD WAR (HONG JIN) will face off again. Sing Sing revealed that back then in Taiwan when he competed with Ka Fai for Best Actor and he was announced the winner, Ka Fai immediately embraced him and patted his shoulder to congratulate him. Ka Fai admitted that they appreciated each other and joked that after working with him he elevated Sing Sing, which forced Sing Sing to admit that he had to improve more to face strong co-stars. Ka Fai and Sing Sing worked together on THROW DOWN. Almost nine years later they worked together again on COLD WAR. In the film they both played deputy police commissioners in a life and death rivalry. Sing Sing revealed that he and Ka Fai worked on one scene over 20 times, which gave him his fill of acting fun. Sing Sing said, "In Mainland slang it was completely like 'acting racing'. The directors said that we were able to take it to the furthest, which made we feel the directors had expectations and were not scared off by my and Ka Fai's fame!" Sing Sing pointed out that that day after finishing that scene's final take and the directors yelled cut, the entire set applauded. Sing Sing admitted that he had a sense of success; Ka Fai also boasted that the scene was as exciting as the recent U.S. Presidential debate between Obama and Romney. Ka Fai confidently said, "This proves that we are not aiming high and shooting lower, everyone has the same idea and both were able to do it!" Ka Fai looked back at working on Wong Kar Wai's ASHES OF TIME (DUNG CHE SAI DUK) and did not understand why it took over 100 takes. He joked that it definitely broke a world record. He pointed out that he did not understand Wong Kar Wai's state of mind either. However Ka Fai pointed out that "acting race" scene had dialogue exchanges that were like an action film. Sing Sing added, "Our battle of words might be more exciting than using real guns and bullets!" Ka Fai also said, "We appreciate each other!" Ka Fai also pointed out that in the 90s, Sing Sing already became the Four Great Heavenly Kings and the King of Dance soon after joining the business. He expected him to step into the film industry and admitted that at the time he made faces at him. Yet, from Sing Sing's first film to his later character and script choices, he observed that he was not someone who would take the money and run. Finally his eyes were opened. Ka Fai said, "I watched one of his films after another, from DIVERGENCE (SAM CHA HAU), AFTER THIS OUR EXILE (FU JI) he was so handsome yet he still chose such hard to play characters. I have also seen the script of AFTER! Reportedly he had to take a pay cut for AFTER, later I gradually understood that he was an actor who put an effort into his acting!" Sing Sing said that Ka Fai was a natural born actor and Best Actor. He said, "I feel Ka Fai over the years has never repeated himself, he is also one of my favorite Hong Kong actors!" Sing Sing in 2006 with DIVERGENCE competed with Ka Fai's ELECTION (HAK SEH WUI) for the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor. He understood that since Leung has already won the Best Actor three years he believed that he would be the biggest competition. However, finally Sing Sing won. Sing Sing said, "I had a shot of confidence at the Golden Horse Award, I went over to Ka Fai and he embraced me to congratulate me and patted me on the shoulder. I felt greatly encouraged!" * (2012/09/28) The already officially rated category III film, TRIAD not only has foul language, sex and abuse scenes galore but also involves many mob language and actual situations. For the first shot, the film's "boss" William Chan Wai Ting plans to blow the whistle and step directly into Portland street, Mongkok to generate buzz with Michelle Wai (Si Nga), Deep Ng Ho Hong, Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung and Alex Hung Kit. They will appear in their film costumes and distribute promotional flyers with a massive alternative promotion. Stepping directly into the lion's den to promote, was he worried about running into sulfuric acid bomb or sudden attack? William said, "We are just promoting a movie, not doing anything with bad intention. I am not scared." Speaking of the return of the mob storm, William said that he was not afraid of comparison. "Our movie is realistic enough. I am confident that people can relate to it. Hopefully it will become a new generation mob film icon." In order to make his Wise Guy image even more convincing, William before the shoot even deliberately went through a hellish training. No wonder he in a fight scene successfully showed off his muscles in a boxing scene! * (2012/09/28) Karena Ng Chin Yu due to the film LOVE IS PYJAMAS (NAM YUN YU YI FOK) was linked to Chok King Raymond Lam Fung in rumors, but she did not mind. Rumors were like fashion style, when they were outdated no one would notice. Actually not only the rumored boyfriend, Chin Yu also received attentive care from many co-stars. She said, "This is my third film. This time I have more emotional scenes, many of which are with the family. The group scenes are numerous and the pace fast. I learned a lot from Sister Mo (Teresa Mo Shun Kwan) and (Ronald) Cheng Chung Kei." Chin Yu and Sister Mo played mother and daughter. She was grateful of her attentive guidance, from which she benefited a lot from. She said, "The most memorable was the scene in which I got Sister Mo mad. Although in real life I have argued with Ma, but this was truly the first time that it got so heated. I had to thank Sister Mo for guiding me with care. She truly is a very professional elder. Of course ten minutes before taking our marks she was already cultivating her emotions, which taught me such a great professional attitude." Chin Yu said that Cheng Chung Kei often caused her bad take but she still was appreciative. "Cheng Chung Kei has a natural born sense of comedy. He and I in the film had a blurry relationship, as soon as I saw him I wanted to laugh. With his gestures, expressions and looks, he often caused my bad takes. However I learned the pace of making a comedy. Actually every movie was growth, I still have a lot that I can improve upon, hopefully I will gradually accumulate experience. After several comedies, next time I want to make an action film and play a killer with a gun. (You can easily be disfigured!) Injuries on the set are unexpected, I have to be careful to prevent them." * (2012/09/28) The Stephen Fung Tak Lun directed, Tony Leung Ka Fai, Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho) and Eddie Peng Yu-Yen starred film TAI CHI 0 two nights ago held its premiere in Tsim Sha Tsui. The premiere featured an all male line up, only missing actresses AngelaBaby and Shu Qi. People thought that Shu Qi was dodging rumored boyfriend Fung Tak Lun. Fung Tak Lun talked about the all male line up and admitted that it was a little dry. He said that Baby is working on a new film and has already taken time to promote in the Mainland; as for Shu Qi, he said that he definitely invited her but she had to work. Was he afraid that Shu Qi was avoiding him? He said, "Why would she need to?" Reporters said due to the rumors. He said, "Are rumors that have been around for over a decade still rumors?" As for whether he was afraid that with less actress the promotion would lose luster. He joked that for his next ovie he would choose to have two to three actresses. If one did not have time he still had the other one. Earlier Shu Qi at the Milan fashion week described her relationship with Fung Tak Lun with three "very" good friend. Has their relationship elevated? He said, "I always thought we were very very very good friends." Would he elevate it into a couple? He said why would they turn into a couple, the position of friend was decent too and did not need to change. How many "good" would he give Shu Qi? He said, "Same as always, I already said good friend." Was Shu Qi suitable to be his girlfriend? He said if he had to talk about Shu Qi, he might as well go back to talk about the movie. This subject has been talked about for many years and was very dull already. In addition, he said that because he was busying make TAI CHI he lost ten pounds. He admitted that he was very confident about the box office. Leung Ka Fai two nights ago returned from Shanghai and a ribbon cutting event there. However on his way back the airplane taxied on the runway then returned to gate, actually the engine had a problem. Then the sound system had a problem. Finally his five o'clock arrival turned into after seven. He said, "Originally I thought about going home early to change, but it became very rushed." Leung Ka Fai's TAI CHI and COLD WAR (HONG JIN) were released at the same time. He said that he was not worried about competing against himself. He was not afraid that both films had Peng Yu-Yen and would be confusing. He also praised Peng Yu-Yen as very talented. A son like Peng Yu-Yen and a daughter like Baby truly were decent. Did he feel Baby was very hot? He said that he would only describe his own daughter as pretty, his own daughter was hot but he would not not call her hot. He said that he studied Tai Chi for two and a half months for this film. Now he is still learning, otherwise he would not be able to promote so much. Wylie Chiu Shek Chi said that all four men were handsome. Who would she choose? He said, "I like Ng Yin Cho, but I have met Lisa S. before. Choosing someone else's husband doesn't seem right." Shek Chi said that she was single and hoped to be able to find a mixed heritage or foreigner for a boyfriend, because she thought it would be more fun. * (2012/09/27) This year many Hong Kong films have been both critical and commercial hits, which excited Wong Jing to join in and support Hong Kong film. He plans to make four domestic Hong Kong films to support new directors and new idols. The first shot will be a remake the wildly popular YOUNG AND DANGEROUS (GOO WAT JAI), with muscle man Law Chung Him as Chan Ho Nam, Paul Wong Koon Chung as Ho Nam's mentor Uncle Bee, Oscar Leung Lit Wai as Chicken, Sammy Sum Chun Hin as Ugly Kwun. Because it will skip the Mainland market, the film will be as category III as possible. YOUNG AND DANGEROUS can finally use foul language, chop people until they bleed blood and guts and have daring passionate bed scenes. The Wong Jing and Manfred Wong (Man Jun) produced, Andrew Lau Wai Keung directed YOUNG AND DANGEROUS was based on the comic book TEDDY BOY. When it was released in 1996 it performed well and subsequently six films were made in the series and started a Hong Kong film industry mob film fever. At the same time Dior Cheng Yi Kin who played the male lead Chan Ho Nam reached his career peak with this film. Now Wong Jing decided to team with Man Jun again to remake the 2012 version with new director Daneil Chan Yi Hung. Law Chung Him will play Chan Ho Nam, Leung Lit Wai will play Chicken, Lam Chi Sin as Pao Pei, Wong Koon Chung as Uncle Bee, Sum Chun Hin as Ugly Kwan, LAN KWAI HO 2 (HEI OI YEH PO 2) star Dominic Ho Ho Man as Dai Tin Yee, Mainland star Hu Ran as a rich girl. Reportedly in the film she will have daring sex scenes. The new YOUNG AND DANGEROUS will be a Wong Jing's company, BoB and Partners, release. It will start production next week. On the first day the Nathan Road Wise Guy massacre will be shot, with busted bellies and bleeding guts galore. Wong Jing yesterday said, "The old version in order to accommodate the category IIB rating, Wise Guys can't use foul language in negotiations. The new version with a category III rating won't have so many concerns. Foul language, sex scene and gang fights will be able to go further. Viewers can have more fun watching it. This time we cast Law Chung Him because the film has to get younger. We want to find several muscle guys as the leads. I really think Him Jai has potential." Wong Jin pointed out that the new version will follow the old story but details have new changes. In the old version Gigi Lai Chi played Smartie, who will only appear in the second film of the new version and the character is still being cast. Wong Jing planned to make four Hong Kong films to cultivate on and off screen talent. He said, "Right now both directors and actors are lacking. I feel we truly need to support new blood to take over. Thus in the next year I plan to develop in both areas. I will produce a series of purely Hong Kong films to support new comers to support the Hong Kong film industry, while I will continue to make big co-production films." Hong Kong film this year indeed has shown signs of life. Earlier the Pang Ho Cheung directed LOVE IN THE BUFF (CHUN GIU YU JI MING) and VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KET) performed extremely well. VULGARIA even passed 30 million at the box office. The current release DUE WEST OUR SEX JOURNEY (YUT LO HEUNG SAI) after 6 days in release made 8.55 million at the box office as of two days ago. The film is predicted to break 20 million. Several domestic Hong Kong films although had no big star but still can receive enthusiastic audience support. On the other hand the neither fish nor fowl China Hong Kong co-production films even with stars like Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Lau Ching wan and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung had mediocre performance, proving that Hong Kong audience deeply despises co-productions that mostly accommodate the Mainland market. As for the original YOUNG AND DANGEROUS team of Cheng Yi Kin, Jordan Chan Siu Chun, Jason Chu Wing Tong, Michael Tse Ting Wa and others next year will plan to perform a YOUNG AND DANGEROUS concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum. * (2012/09/27) Recently turning into both actor and producer, Chapman To Man Jat earlier starred in VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KET). It performed well as it broke 30 million at the box office. Yesterday Ah Jat received news that VULGARIA won the Fantastic Film Festival comedy Best Actor in Texas! The Ah Jat starred VULGARIA after 48 days in release in Hong Kong accumulated over 30 million and firmly sat ahead of this year's Chinese films. Yesterday reportedly Ah Jat won the "Best comedy actor" award at the Fantastic Film Festival in Texas. After 18 years in show business Ah Jat this time made the "breakthrough of zero", with a pretty victory of both fame and fortune. Currently working in Malaysia, Ah Jat yesterday responded via text, "I never expected to win an award with a comedy. Last time with ISABELLA I competed for the Berlin Film Festival Best Actor and lost. At the time I was a little disappointed. I never expected a surprise this time. Because it is a comedy, that kind of joy is even harder to describe." Ah Jat even stressed that he would work even harder to make more comedy for the Hong Kong audience. He even posted the good news on facebook and shared the joy with his supporters. Actually since Ah Jat returned to work from being ill over a month ago, film offers flooded in. Working on a Mainland film in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand region, he earlier took time to return to Hong Kong to attend the Emperor Motion Picture SUPER AGENT (CHIU CUP GAING LEI YUN)'s production start ceremony then returned to Malaysia. His wife Krystal Tin Yui Nei also had to leave Hong Kong as the couple had no time to be together. No wonder Ah Jat lamented, "Hopefully when we are old, we won't be like this." In addition, the Jet Tone artist Sandrine Pinna (Cheung Yung Yung) starred TOUCH OF THE LIGHT will represent Taiwan to compete for an Oscar Best Foreign Film nomination this year. The film last week made almost NT$10 million at the Taiwan cumulative box office. * (2012/09/27) The film DUE WEST OUR SEX JOURNEY (YUT LO HEUNG SAI) after 6 days in release (as of September 25) made 10 million at the box office. Two nights ago a celebration was held. Jeana Ho Pui Yu appeared in a low cut dress, but she was no match for Angelina Zhang (Cheung Woon Nga)'s 7 inch career line. Jeana explained, "With so many friends are present, I am afraid that I would be too sexy. Everyone had big buns wouldn't want to eat dinner. Just the right amount is fine." Did her boyfriend Parkman Cheung kept her from being too sexy? Jeana denied, "My boyfriend would understand that I am only sexy for work, and I don't need his permission. When I the a premiere earlier I was very sexy. Ultimately the higher the box office is, the sexier I get. Whether I would wear a bikini it would depend on the event." Has her boyfriend seen DUE? Jeana said, "I just returned from working in Kuala Lumpur, I plan to work it with him. Maybe he has already seen it. No wonder this time I came back he became tense." Cheung Woon Nga did not eat all day to wear her tight dress. "I bought this dress a long time ago, I never had the courage to wear it. Now I feel I should take the chance. If I don't wear it when I am young, when should I wait to wear it? I don't want others to forget me, so I wouldn't care what others say about me. I would continue to be sexy." Cheung Woon Nga's bottom line was no nudity. "My goal isn't money, there are many ways to make money. I want my life to be a little happier. I like Hong Kong so I work there." * (2012/09/27) Lau Ching Wan, Louis Koo Tin Lok, and Angelica Lee Sinjie recently have been working on the Pang Brothers directed 3D Chinese disaster films INFERNO (TOH CHOOK SUN TIN). The film has been in production for almost two months, as everyone entered the major scene production on location in Thailand. Ching Wan, Goo Jai, Sinjie and Mainland actors Jin Qiaoqiao and Chen Sicheng for days have already been suffering from smoke, fire and water. Goo Jai's right arm has been injured twice, but coincidentally his injuries were right where he had to be injured in the film. In the end he performed injured and did not have to bandage his "fake" wound. Goo Jai pointed out that during an escape scene, his right palm was cut on glass shards and immediately bled. The director halted the production and asked the on set doctor to bandage it to prevent infection. However he only asked for ice for the wound and told the director to keep shooting for an even more realistic effect. Finally he completed this injury performance in one take before he was willing to sit down for the doctor to treat his wound. During the Mid Autumn Festival, the team will continue to shoot in Thailand. Producer Lam Siu Keung deliberated brought some traditional lanterns and moon cakes from Hong Kong for everyone to celebrate the holiday with. The actors also picked up pens to write greetings to wish everyone a Happy Mid Autumn Festival. Sinjie said that everyone after working together everyday have become like a family, so spending the Mid Autumn Festival together was quite meaningful. she said that Malaysia did not have Mid Autumn festival. She missed playing with lanterns in the country during her childhood. Goo Jai also spent his first Mid Autumn Festival in Thailand and had a very special feeling. Normally he had very little opportunity to complete a movie abroad and celebrate the Mid Autumn Festival with everyone. They were like a family. Ching wan also liked Mid Autumn very much and hoped that everyone would be able to happily spend it with their families. * (2012/09/27) Karena Lam Ka Yun yesterday appeared on a radio program. She said, "I am still very passionate about film, I still have an acting bug. Thus earlier I helped with the film THE BULLET VANISHES (SIU SUT DIK JI DAN) voice work. If I couldn't act, I was happy with acting with my voice." She said that lately she has been working on commercials. She would selectively take jobs. When will she return to film? She said, "I want to, but first and foremost is it doesn't affect the home schedule." She said that earlier when she attended events, her husband took time off to take care of their daughter. They tried not to rely on their maid. Was Ka Yun signed to a company now? She said no, because right now she was mainly a housewife and was not too busy. She did not want to sign with a company and selectively work. She would not sign with a company until she came back fully. She said that now she has no condition for movies. Would she have to ask her husband for kiss scene permission? She said, "No, I think I don't have to. Nude scenes probably won't be so good, ultimately I have a responsibility as a mother." She said that her daughter will turn two soon. Now she is teaching her about charity work and set a good example for her daughter. As for another child, she would like to have one and is working on one with her husband. She said, "I hope to be able to raise them together, then quickly lose weight in one shot and I can come back completely." * (2012/09/27) Charlie Yeung Choi Nei, George Lam Chi Cheung, Cally Kwong Mei Wan, Janet Ma Si Wai two nights ago attended a Central crystal shop opening. Charlie revealed that her first film as a director, CHRISTMAS ROSE (SING DAN MUI GWAI), already wrapped in June. Right now she is busy with its post production and has already received many film festival invitations. However she felt that she first had to complete post production. She also said that for her first film she has not made a movie in half a year. She did not mind having less income though because she learned a lot from directing this time. * (2012/09/27) The Three Kingdoms epic production THE ASSASSINS (TUNG JEUK TOI) opened early in the morning yesterday in the Mainland. Two nights ago the cast including Chow Yun Fat, Liu Yifei, Alec Su (So Yau Peng), Annie Yi Nung Jing and Qiu Xinzhi attended the premiere in Beijing. As Cao Cao Fat Gor kept pleading Cao Cao's case. He said, "The film's Cao Cao is different before before. He isn't just an empty hero. When you remove the name Cao Cao, he is a modern person, a modern politician." Fat Gor was rather satisfied with his performance and said, "Cao Cao has a very important place on my show business road, hopefully he can become a classic image." Yi Nung Jing led with complaints. "I am the queen, but Cao Pi easily rapes me. I even have to tolerate Cao Cao's open abuse." Speaking of the rape scene with Qiu Xinzhi, Yi Nung Jing said that he had a lot of pressure. "However I feel he has put me quite at ease. He would first clearly discuss it with me. I kept telling him, 'How do you feel that is?' to see if he could accept it. I would suggest 800 ways of performing." Qiu XinZhi joked, "Actually everything she and I said have been against our wishes, we both like this type of scenes." APPLE DAILY, SEPTEMBER 30 2012, ENTERTAINMENT CIRCLE 360 HONG KONG FILM VANISHES Hong Kong's title of "Eastern Hollywood" has gradually faded since China and Hong Kong reached the Closer Economic Partnership Accord in 2003. Film companies for the enormous Mainland market audience of 1.3 billion people would rather accept Mainland film censor's merciless castration. Unique domestic genres like the mob, the supernatural, gambling and dirty films have almost all vanished. However, Pang Ho Cheung's foul mouthed VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KET) ignored the Mainland film censors. In Hong Kong it still made 30 million at the box office. The sex scene filled DUE WEST OUR SEX JOURNEY (YUT LO HEUNG SAI) still has past category III film style; at the same time, Wong Jing has already hammered a deal to remake YOUNG AND DANGEROUS (GOO WAT JAI) to extend the story of Chan Ho Nam. Can Hong Kong film thus truly be revived it is too early to tell, but what we can do now is reminisce in the past Hong Kong film glory. -SO FUN NEI Hero Film In the 80s and the 90s when Hong Kong film was at its most brilliant, hero films were thriving. Leads despite being mobsters were still real man ob flesh and blood. For example in the John Woo (Ng Yu Sum) directed A BETTER TOMORROW (YING HUNG BOON SIK, 1986), Song Chi Ho (Ti Lung) was a mob boss who with Mark Gor (Chow Yun Fat) braved the world. Although they were both sloppy tough guys who did not even know a single word, the heroism that they displayed was even more human that the false gentlemen who were well educated. The 90s had the TEDDY BOY comic book based YOUNG AND DAGNEROUS film series. Dior Cheng Yi Kin played Chan Ho Nam who valued love and loyalty, in charge of Causeway Bay and was the god of a generation of Mongkok Girls. After the Millennium, the Johnnie To Kei Fung directed ELECTION (HAK SEH WUI, 2005) with its strong political color and its sequel ELECTION 2 (HAK SEH WUI 2 YI WOR WAI GWAI, 2006) on the surface were about the power struggle within the mob but was a metaphor for the Hong Kong political situation. In one scene the Chinese police wanted Louis Koo Tin Lok to cancel the mob election and inherit the position of the Dragon Head to make control convenient. The Mainland news agency demanded an edit but To Kei Fung persisted with his principles. Finally the film was banned in the Mainland. Mainland film censors could not tolerate any movie that violated moral standards, for example INFERNAL AFFAIRS (MO GAN DOH, 2002) had to edit its script. The Andy Lau Tak Wa played villain Lau Kin Ming finally was arrested. Even in the virtual world, evil cannot triumph over good. Ghost Films Chinese people are so superstitious that supernatural tales have been around for ages, from SHAN HAI JING to STRANGE STORIES FROM A CHINESE STUDIO many supernatural folk legends have been passed on for eons. The subject originally should have plenty of variety. Yet the Communist Party promotes atheism and strictly prohibits ghost films to meet the national situation. Of course, the Mainland has countless grievances. Viewers after watching ghost films their emotions cannot be released and indignant sentiments can rise. A ban is inevitable. Directors in order to appease the censors can only roughly "demonize" the supernatural. Originally based on STRANGE TALES, PAINTED SKIN (WAT PEI, 2008) turned ghost into fox demon and a completely different matter. Even when advertising under the official banner of "ghost film", viewers expect the ending is only a dream or personality split of the lead to deny the existence of ghosts. When this generation of people feels only Japanese and Thai ghost films are worth watching, once upon a time Hong Kong ghost film was king. The Dennis Yu Won Kong directed, Charlie Chun Cheung Lam starred THE IMP (HUNG BONG, 1981) was the king of the ghost films. The film mixed together Maoshan sorcery, zombies, evil spirits, exorcism and other cult elements and paired them with dark green lighting to make the audience feel like they were in the underworld. With Dorothy Yu Yee Ha's white as a corpse make up, viewers were guaranteed to be scared to death. The Pang Brothers' THE EYE (2002) and Peter Chan Ho Sun's THREE: GOING HOME (SAM GAN ji WUI GA, 2002) were also known for their horror atmosphere. Of course there was also the enduring TROUBLESOME ROAD (YUM YEUNG LO) film series, Dragon Granny Law Lan, Simon Loui Yu Yeung like ghosts refused to fade. Unfortunately the classics were no more. Dirty Films In the Mainland, sex is like a scourge. The moral standard is suffocatingly strict. LUST CAUTION (2007)'s Tang Wei bed scenes were completely castrated. LOST IN BEIJING (2007) due to Fan Bingbing's nude scenes was banned. Because sex scenes could only be handled with a peck, WHITE DEER PLAIN (2012)'s Kitty Zhang Yuqi and Duan Yihong absurdly made love in their clothes. Last year 3D SEX AND ZEN: EXTREME ECSTASY (3D YUK PO TUEN ji GIK LOK BO GAM, 2011) targeted the May Day Golden Week for its Hong Kong release. Due to its massive sex scenes and no hope for a Mainland release, Mainlanders actually found tours to support the film in Hong Kong. Speaking of Hong Kong dirty film, it was already renowned in Asia in the 70s. At Shaw Lee Han-Hsiang's erotic films, Ho Fan's aesthetic art, Lui Kei's hair films all held their own. In the 90s, the government issued the three category film rating system. Dirty films blossomed with variety. Taiwan and Japanese beauties all came to Hong Kong to make category III films: Rena Murakami's SEX AND ZEN (YUK PO TUEN ji TAU CHING BO GAM, 1991), Loletta Lee Lai Chun's CRAZY LOVE (MUK TOH SING SUK SI, 1993) and Shu Qi's SEX AND ZEN 2 (YUK PO TUEN ji YUK NUI SUM GAING, 1996) accompanied many men through their adolescence. Now they can only be a collective memory. Gambling Films Hollywood rarely have purely gambling movies, only Hong Kong would keep making them. Since Chow Yun Fat's GOD OF GAMBLERS (DOH SUN, 1989) unprecedented success of a mad 37 million, ALL FOR THE WINNER (DOH SING), GOD OF GAMBLERS 2 (DOH HUP), THE TOP BET (DOH BA), all queued up for release. It almost became the element that 90s films could not miss. When the lead and the villain met, their resolution was not through violence but a battle of wits on the casino table. When the lead was forced to show his hand, he always in the last minute took out a Swiss bank promissory note as wager. The idea was contrived but fun. Stephen Chow Sing Chi's ALL FOR THE WINNER (1990) even brought the gambling film to its peak. Everyone imitated Sing Yeh's "card rubbing" and "show hand", even television station's music award shows had to decide the results with cards. However, the Mainland film censors strictly prohibited gambling films as it worried about encouraging gambling and such. However the Chinese enjoys any and all types of gambling, as underground casinos sprung up like forests. Sports gambling made tanking a trend, obviously gambling film ban had no relationship to the gambling trend. Although Wong Jing earlier invited Fat Gor to return to make the fourth GOD OF GAMBLERS, to appease the censors the title SHUI YU JUNG FUNG (WHO WOULD RIVAL) has already lost its dominance. The most attractive gambling scene was not primary, the ending would even warn that gambling would not lead to a happy ending. Hong Kong style gambling films are not what they used to be. 2. MING PAO DAILY, SEPTEMBER 30 2012, FILM WORDS THE ASSASSINS HAS DECENT ATMOSPHERE The Mainland domestic costume film THE ASSASSINS (TUNG JEUK TOI) Is slightly better than expected. This cruel conspiracy to assassinate Three Kingdoms antihero Cao Cao. Liu Yifei played the undercover female assassin who was as beautiful as Diaochan and caught the eyes of Cao Cao. Stuck between love and hate would she be able to go through with it? Mainland director Zhao Linshan only in the beginning and the end uses heavily martial art action and special effects. The film is mainly dramatic, the atmosphere and the structure are decent. The film achieves the complex drama of plots and schemes. Chow Yun Fat as Cao Cao is very exciting. However, this film is Zhang Yimou's HERO and THE CURSE OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER. In addition it coordinates with the Beijing propaganda, feeling that Cao Cao and Emperor Qin both loved their country and pepole. Although they caused countless tragedies, they had the credit of unifying the nation like the Qin and Cao praising Mao Zedong. Thus they could not be killed! More commendable is the female lead in the end never forgot the tragic blood debt. (Two and a half of five stars) - SHEK KEI 3. APPLE DAILY, SEPTEMBER 29 2012, ELECTRIC FILM ROAD ANNIE LIU: TEARY EYED GODDESS Life has always put the cart before the horse. Annie Liu (Lau Sum Yau) joined the business at 24 to play Ah Soh. Today she just turned 31 and instead in director Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum)'s new film NATURAL BORN LOVERS (TIN SUN OI CHING KONG) played a sassy girlfriend. Film is always this colorful, turning the impossible into possible. Looking back at when she first joined the business the director had to force her into a crying scene, she had to imagine her family's death to be able to force out tears. Now she has already understood the different layers of crying, night and day from when she was a rookie who was wandering the set. With a Golden Brother nickname "Sum Yau BB", unfortunately her performance in a commercial was even more memorable than her film character. Anti climatically she was even known all over for selling bridal cakes, but what she wanted the most was not a home but acting that received people's praises. -HO WING NING Lau Sum Yau has made many commercials: slimming, hair removal, skin care product......the most memorable is the bridal cake ad called "Give a Girl a home". On the other hand memorable film character has been lacking for her. As an artist whose career was film acting it was an anti climax. As soon as she got into the business she had the support of six Best Actors when she made the Wong Ching Po directed MOB SISTER (AH SOH), which was a good beginning but a tough task. Imagine Losing Parents To Generate Tears A Taiwan girl who went to study in Canada and work in Hong Kong, Sum Yau has never known what acting was. On the set she saw each Best Actor at ease all day and spending their days chatting, while she was scared every second. Sum Yau said, "My Cantonese is poor. I asked (Anthony Wong) Chau Sun to teach me to act. He said, 'Daughter, acting can't be taught. The more you perform the better you get'. (Eric Tsang) Chi Wai hid and slept after his shoot. The only one I could talk to was Liu Ye who spoke Mandarin. He too told me that acting couldn't be studied, it relied on experience. At the time I didn't know whether I would have a second one, how could I gain experience." Hong Kong film's specific actions like changing scripts and flying paper were enough to leave Sum Yau's head pounding. One day director Wong Ching Po even asked her to make a crying scene. Sum Yau said, "The director said, 'Sum Yau you have to cry in a bit, you have to imagine yourself to be very pitiful then it's OK'. I told myself I had to be able to cry, then I hid away to cultivate my emotions. The simplest was thinking about a broken heart, but I thought back at my several break ups and they were very peaceful and not much to cry about. Finally I could only think about Grandpa, Grandma, Daddy and Mommy not being here, the more I thought the more tragic it got then I was able to cry. I even cried very hard." The same trick would get old due to frequent use. If every time was her family passing away the method gradually became useless. Sum Yau said, "All day it's this one dies that one dies, after awhile I wasn't heartbroken. The director could only teach me another way -- writing a diary. Everyday I wrote about the character I played, gradually I got into it and naturally was able to cry. Now it has become a habit, I have written for every movie." Sum Yau truly getting acting had to wait until she tried her luck outside with movies and plays. She said, "When I made the company's movies even if I was blocking the light, my co-stars wouldn't say anything. The light technician would even move the light for me, no one would tell me. When I made outside movies, if I blocked the light my co-star's face would immediately darken. Before I realized what happened, the light technician would yell. Only then did I know 'actually I can't be like that'. With my company's movies no one would cross you." Golden Goddess Not Desperate to Wed Gaining experience from all the bumps and bruises, with practice and acting lessons Sum Yau might not yet pitch perfect but could at least be in control. She said, "Experience is very important, but with the theoretical support it would be easily to absorb. At least now I can identify different ways of crying, for break up, for heartache, for disappointment. I don't have to think about misfortunes like my family dying at every turn." Sum Yau on the Golden site has been called "Sum Yau BB", giving her a home was many Golden Brothers' dream. However the 31 year old goddess still is not desperate to wed. "A home" is the advertiser's own promotional slogan. From when she came to work in Hong Kong alone from Canada, she did not waste to waste seven years of hard work. She would rather not only play different characters but also buy "Cyber Port". She said, "I have made with (Shawn) Yue Man Lok (Soi) Cheang Po Shui's SHAMO (KWUN GAI), even very daringly played a prostitute. This time Yip Lim Sum's NATURAL BORN LOVERS was considered a new attempt. Playing a sassy girlfriend, it's different from the nice girls that I played before. At the risk of sounding cliche I want more people's recognition. When I am praised online of course I am very happy and appreciative, but can I not be called BB? In addition, I want to buy a home. Oh, Cyberport isn't a residential property, Residence Bel-Air is. Then I am fine with buying Residence Bel-Air. Where is Residence Bel-Air?" Patrick Kong's "Mad" Reverse Of Romantic Views Based on actual young love triangles has always been director Yip Lim Sum's cup of tea, from the stab to the heart movie MARRIAGE WITH A FOOL (DUK GA SI OI) to the new film NATURAL BORN LOVERS. NATURAL's inspiration comes from the news of a nurse harassing former boyfriend. He said, "The story came from seeing in the news a nurse and her boyfriend break up, but deliberately buys a home to live downstairs from her ex. She keeps on approaching her ex and finally ends up in court. I feel as a movie it would be entertaining." Fatal Soul Chasing Call Yip Lim Sum pointed out that in comparison of the past Alex Fong Lik Sun and Stephy Tang Lai Yun played heterosexual pure love, this time can be summed up as madness. "Sum Yau has to play a girlfriend who is madly in love, at any moment she has to be able to contact her boyfriend. Her boyfriend has to be on call 24 hours a day. In reality your male friends are like that. When you eat with them their phones are always ringing to ask where they are, maybe you would feel it's very normal. However from 20 calls a day to over 100, the matter would become very maddening. Thus I found two pretty people Lau Sum Yau and (Julian) Cheung Chi Lam for balance, telling you that I am not making a thriller." Yip Lim Sum never feels limited with his focus on romantic film. He says, "A director has to have his own style. In a year I make less than seven movies because I want to make movies that express my views. Plenty of people are better than me at making police films, I am in my thirties. I don't know how the next 10 years will go. At least romantic films still give me a lot of space. Since the scripts that I write don't permit different subjects, the screen writer's responsibility is to satisfy the director. For example I wrote MEN SUDDENLY IN BLACK (DAI JEUNG FU) for Pang Ho Cheung as well as movies like MY LUCKY STAR (HUNG WON CHIU YUN)." Speaking of Pang Ho Cheung naturally the comparison is made. They started at the same time and both are Post 70 directors. Yip Lim Sum said, "Making movies isn't about comparison, in addition we are not making the same type of movies. If you really have to, Pang Ho Cheung's movies are more male oriented, mine are more female oriented." Ava Yu: Golden Sister Learns Foul Language Golden Brothers and Sisters include a wide range, among of whom are professionals. Actually artist Ava Yu Kiu is one of the sisters, starting when she played a foul mouth girl in NATURAL. "Mr. Shiu Sr. (Stephen Shiu) said that if you wanted to learn foul language you could check out the Golden Site. After awhile I became addicted, now I have to check it out everyday." Highly Imaginative Foul Language Codes Yu Kiu feels that using codes to replace foul language is highly imaginative, she especially enjoys the "Turn Left Turn Right", "Hi" and other foul language that involves the male sexual organ and behavior. "I am not condoning foul and filthy language, but they are really well thought out. My faovrite is the BS section, because the content truly has everything." The Golden people called Yu Kiu CD-R, a Golden girl who only reads and not write. She hopes to have a chance to attend the Brothers and Sisters gathering. "However sometimes I have to watch myself. I don't want people to say I am taking advantage, like last time for anti National Education I wore black and supported in silence." Synopsis: All Around Boyfriend Surveillance And Control NATURAL BORN LOVERS is inspired by a true story. It includes the axiom of love "getting the girl is easy, losing the girl is hard". Popular baker Cheung Tai Lam (Julian Cheung) by chance meets the gentle and lovely nurse Mable Kwong (Annie Liu). They rapidly fall in love. Violent Tendency Unfortunately the sweetness is short lived. Tai Lam slowly realizes that Mable is not only suspicious, jealous and has a strong urge to control, even more horrifying is that she has a slight tendency for violence. Aside from all around 24 hour surveillance of her boyfriend's whereabouts, she even secretly grasps his computer, microblog, facebook and mobile phone passwords. At the same time Tai Lam's old flame (Christine Kuo) suddenly appears, in comparison the new is no match for the old.
