Playing Cao Cao in the film, Fat Gor was asked if the Dao Yu Island incident took place during the Three Kingdoms Era, what would Cao Cao do? Fat Gor said, "If at the time Diao Yu Island was taken, Cao Cao definitely would get it back!" He continued to say that he felt stressed from the film and joked, "Are you buying a ticket? If you don't you don't care about me." * (2012/09/26) After taking a break from working too hard, Shu Qi returned to work for Taiwan director Hou Hsiao-Hsien and star in the 7 year in planning ASSASSIN (NIP YUN LEUNG), which officially began production yesterday. The leads were Shu Qi and Chang Chen. Shu Qi joked that the martial art training and the wire work were too painful, on the first day of work she thought of returning to Taiwan to find Director Hou to "terminate the contract". She asked her manager and realized that she has not signed any contract. The film cost over HK$100 million. According to Hou Hsiao-Hsien he ran into financing troubles. Shu Qi said that she wanted to invest. Director Hou praised her "heroine" personality but would not let Shu Qi put money in. At most he would use her salary as investment and share the profit later. Chang Chen because of THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI) kept training. Shu Qi praised his "waist strength" as he could stand very straight. Director Hou also thanked Wong Kar Wai for helping him with advanced actor training. He also hoped that ASSASSIN and THE GRANDMASTERS would follow CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON in recalling everyone's passion for wu xia film. * (2012/09/26) Jacky Cheung Hok Yau after finishing the film CROSSING HENNESSY (YUET MOON HIN NEI SI) with Tang Wei 3 years ago has not made another movie. Recently because Shu Kei, the director who brought him into the film industry, worked on a graduation film A COMPLICATED STORY for a Performing Art Academy film student and asked Hok Yau to help, Hok Yau of course jumped at the chance. He did not take any salary, not even lai see. He even covered his own transportation. Hok Yau truly is quite a guy. That day the film started production at Central's Pier 9. From afar a hunk in sunglasses, transparent black shirt and low cut black jeans walked around like he was on the catwalk. The reporter thought he was Hok Yau. Why did Hok Yau get so much more feminine? Upon getting closer, the reporter was surprised. That hunk was big director Johnnie To Kei Fung. His big belly suddenly vanished and could not be more fit. Was he making an on screen appearance for A COMPLICATED STORY? Ah To said, "I am not performance, I am investing in the movie." Ah To earlier was not considered too fat but was known as "Fat To". In order to cover his big belly, he mostly wore loose shirts. In the summer he definitely had a towel for sweat. When Andy Lau Tak Wa made Ah To's LOVE ON A DIET (SAU SUN NAM NUI) he as the fat guy constantly used a towel for sweat. He was impersonating Ah To. Now he successfully lost the weight, he immediately wore something tight and transparent to show off his body. The reporter joked that he was showing his belly button and underwear, he pretended he did not hear and could not be more confident. Why did Ah To lose weight? He answered directed, "Too fat." Why? He said, "Wa Jai gave me his diet." Wa Jai's weight loss formula was a flavorless life, no salt, no grease, no sugar. For his concerts he was even more exaggerated, as he only had steamed chicken. He has always been like this and quite determined at it. How did he do it? Ah To then revealed that his blood sugar was high and he had to lose the weight. He said, "I have been losing for a week or so, lost a few pounds. Wa Jai told me to persist for 20 days and said that I could lose a dozen pounds or so." He said, "Control the amount, no carbohydrate like rice and noodle, no fruit and only meat." Since he could not eat anything, did he lose any joy in life? He helplessly said, "What can I do. I didn't even have my favorite red wine, just to keep from Wa Jai nagging me." The Big Director actually was afraid of Wa Jai? He said, "He just cares about my health, I feel health is pretty important too." Director Andrew Lau Wai Keung lost weight over a year ago when his body began to sound an alarm and lost over 20 pounds. Just like Ah To he had no belly. Lau Wai Keung after getting thinner worked on screen as well, as he worked on several commercials. Who knows if any advertiser was interested in the "hunk" Ah To? * (2012/09/26) Dior Cheng Yi Kin and Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin in their new film MY SASSY HUBBY (NGOR LO GUNG NG SUN SING) again played a young couple. Earlier the film company arranged for them to shoot their first film poster at a studio. In order to display the characters' mischievous personalities, the photographer arranged for a blow up hammer to be a prop. The big kid Ekin immediately grabbed it and pretended to abuse his "wife" Ah Sa. He said, "Let such hard labor to me!" However Ah Sa also knew to coordinate with the story and struck back. "You are obviously the sassy one in this one, I should be the one who hits you." During the shoot they made different poses, Ah Sa told Ekin to coordinate back to back poses. She said, "I think we are very much like MR. AND MRS. SMITH." Ekin joked, "But Angelina Jolie's legs are very long?!" Ah Sa did not know whether to laugh or to cry. * (2012/09/26) AngelaBaby Yeung Wing yesterday attended her new film TAI CHI's premiere press conference in Shaoxing. Playing an action character for the first time Baby said that "it's hard to be an action actress", but if she caught someone's eye she would be very willing to continue to be an action actress. This time Baby played the Tai Chi master Chen Yuniang. Because her father Tony Leung Ka Fai's whereabouts was unknown, she took over many family responsibilities. Baby admitted that she respected and admired this character because she was a very tough girl. She was able to stand up and face everything. Baby and the character were both righteous. She also revealed that because she was too manly everyone called her "actor". "In the film I could send people flying with one palm. After six months everyone called me actor. However, in the new film I played a beauty, no one can call me actor again." To handle the fight scenes, Baby accepted two months of action training that included Tai Chi and stretching in advance. The stretching training hurt her so much she was in tears everyday, but she rather enjoyed the production process. She even discovered that she actually loved wire work. She was especially excited about wire work every time. In addition, TAI CHI's Chinese kung fu also added in video game concepts. Director Stephen Fung Tak Lun wonderfully merged in popular games like Fruit Ninja and Angry Bird. Feng Shaofeng praised Baby's fighting as amazing. To bring back the heroic look from the poster, Baby yesterday after grabbing a long sword was almost heroine possessed. Although she was in ten centimeter heels she continued to accurately performed lunges twice for everyone to witness kung fu expert Chen Yuniang's heroic style. * (2012/09/25) Substance actress Irene Wan Bik Ha after joining the Emperor Motion Picture artist department radiated again in the film industry. Earlier she and Emperor artist William Chan Wai Ting worked on the Emperor Motion Picture TRIAD (JAT JIK) and had a break through performance. TRIAD's story was about the mob. The addition of female leadership elements made Wan Bik Ha's character even more attractive. The film will also put many mob rumors into the film to make it even more realistic. In one scene Wan Bik Ha, Chan Wai Ting, Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung and Edward Chui Ka Tung joining the mob. Wan Bik ha even appeared in sexy underwear. Chan Wai Ting and others only wore boxers and showed off their perfect muscles. Wan Bik Ha said that when she got the script she already knew about this scene. For the film to be closer to reality, she did not feel that this underwear only scene was a problem. She only did what an actress should do. Did she clear the set? She said that she did not feel a need to. The shoot did not feel awkward at all. She did not ask her husband before hand either because he understood what an actress needed to do. Because this scene was shot separately, Chan Wai Ting and Wan Bik Ha did not see each other. In the film he was able to show off his muscles. "When I got the script I knew how to get bigger. I spent many months to train, mainly ate egg, chicken cutlet and steak on a high protein diet. I kept exercising to maintain my figure. Before taking my mark I did push ups because the result showed up the fastest." However, aside from his firm muscles Chan Wai Ting's dragon tattoo was also very attractive. He had to spend several hours to have it drawn on for every shoot. * (2012/09/25) Raymond Lam Fung yesterday was a guest on the Chik Mei Chun's program but was half a hour late. He immediately apologized to Sam Soh and the media as soon as she arrived and explained that because at night he had to fly to Beijing for the LOVE IS PYJAMAS (NAM YUN YU YI FOK) premiere he had to pack at home and go directly to the airport at night. Lam Fung, Raymond Wong Pak Ming and Vincent Kok Tak Siu two nights ago attended an event for the film two nights ago. Lam Fung's fans booked the screening, which made him very happy. However he regretted that earlier a protest interrupted his Guangzhou performance and autograph session. To keep from disappointing fans, he asked workers to get the records for autographs at the office. Fans should have been very pleased, but he joked, "I am not because I didn't personally thank the fans for their support. However the film will promote in Guangzhou at the end of the month. Then fans will have to coax me back, haha. (Will he celebrate the film's success?) Probably not, I will have to work on a series in the Mainland and won't have time." Speaking of rumored girlfriend Karena Ng Chin Yu said that the shoot was very happy. Would he meet the cast for dinner? Lam Fung chimed in and said that they would have to. Everyone had a lot of fun working together. Ng Chin Yu also praised Lam Fung for his humor, unfortunately during the shoot they had very little opportunities to chat. He said, "Of course, when the three women Ng Chin Yu, (Teresa) Mo Shun Kwan and (Lynn Xiong) Hung Doi Lam got together they kept talking about eating. I couldn't cut in at all. However actually it wasn't what I said that was funny, but how dumb I am. Only they would think I am funny." * (2012/09/25) Aarif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting) in the film COLD WAR (HONG JIN) played a righteous and ambitious Independent Commission Against Corruption high ranking senior investigator who questioned two Best Actors Tony Leung Ka Fai and Aaron Kwok Fu Sing. He even went to the police station to arrest Kwok Fu Sing. When police representatives Kwok Fu Sing and Leung Ka Fai were invited to the ICAC for "coffee", they began a war of words with Lee Chi Ting in the interrogation room. This time facing two Best Actors, Lee Chi Ting admitted that he was very nervous because as the investigator he must control the situation. In order to establish the ICAC high ranking senior investigator's prestige, Lee Chi Ting while questioning two skilled and carefully thinking Best Actor had to stare at them for a long time. In the film he maintained his sharp looks. On the screen actually he relied on eye drops to keep his eyes spirited. He said that when the director first shot some facial close up scenes, the crew found the floor full of empty eye drop bottles. Everyone joked that if they did not catch them in time and moved them away, Lee Chi Ting would have ruined that one take. Aside from eye drops, he even prepared a lot of throat drops to handle the screaming scenes. Lucky to be acting with Kwok Fu Sing and Leung Ka Fai, Lee Chi Ting had a joy that he could not describe. "Two Best Actors taught me a lot about acting. In order to perform even better and cultivate the emotion, I studied many series about the ICAC, printed all the lines and posted them all over my bed room. During rehearsal I would put on the sharp suit and stayed in for two days until I was satisfied with my own performance." He said, Mama and co-workers were a little worried during that time. Because he looked so serious, he kept people at bay. * (2012/09/24) Taiwan artist Eddie Peng Yu-Yen yesterday attended the film TAI CHI's premiere in Beijing. Peng Yu-Yen said that in the film other actors were rehearsing fight scenes, but he learned the art of being beaten up. He joked, "In the film I often lost. Everyone hit me!" He even jokingly beg director Stephen Fung Tak Lun for more fight scenes. * (2012/09/24) The film LOVE IS PYJAMAS (NAM YUN YU YI FOK) two nights ago held a forum at a cinema. Attending actors included Teresa Mo Shun Kwan, Karena Ng Chin Yu, Vincent Kok Tak Siu and boss Raymond Wong Pak Ming. Mo Shun Kwan said that the premiere audience reaction was great, with both funny and touching spots as many friends needed tissue. Sister Mo and Chin Yu played mother and daughter in the film. She praised Chin Yu as a rather decent new comer. In the past many new comers' hands would shake when they worked with her. Hers did not, which already made her amazing. She said, "Daughters usually aren't afraid of their mothers, so the actress can't be scared. Otherwise she cannot play the role." Speaking of Chin Yu and Raymond Lam Fung's rumor, Sister Mo joked that she asked them but no one answered her. She joked that she would ask further during their Mainland promotion. How did she feel about "son in law" Lam Fung? She said, "Of course he's OK, very Chok. I don't know whether they are dating? Daughter is still young and has plenty of time to date. Young people have their own way." Ng Chin Yu denied that she was dating Lam Fung and pointed out that she had male and female friends. She hoped that her luck with people was good, which would be very helpful in this business. She and Lam Fung would be together day and night for promotion later. She however changed the subject and said that another lead Ronald Cheng Chung Kei would fill the venues with fun. Was Lam Fung as Chok normally? Chin Yu said no, but he was very humorous. He often joked with make up artists and hair stylists. She said that she liked guys with a sense of humor. Of course he also would have to treat her family well and not a chauvinist. At the same time he had to accommodate her and accept her tantrums. * (2012/09/23) Cherie Chung Chor Hung was the star of the Mabel Cheung Yuen Ting directed AN AUTUMN'S TALE (CHAU TIN DIK TUNG WA). Cheung Yuen Ting received appeared on a cable interview. She said that at first she wanted Maggie Cheung Man Yuk to play the female lead, but due to a scheduling conflict she suggested Hung Goo because she thought that she had quite an aura. At first she was not optimistic, but Hung Goo put a lot of effort into playing the character well as she was determined to rid herself of the "flower vase" image. As for lead actor Chow Yun Fat, before the film began production due to A BETTER TOMORROW (YING HUNG BOON SIK) his popular soared. At first he did not sign a contract and she was very afraid that Fat Gor would quit at the last minute. Before the team left for New York she nervously called Fat Gor, not expecting him to directly said, "Since I promised you I definitely will be there, relax!" Fat Gor's acting was outstanding and he valued loyalty. However, Cheung Yuen Ting almost enraged Fat Gor. "For the final scene, Fat Gor after buying a gift ran to the female lead's home, found out she left and then chased after the car. At the time I was still new as a director. I didn't really know how to communicate with actors and had to shoot many different characters. Finally Fat Gor ended up running for a dozen or so days. A well known nice guy, Fat Gor could not help but said, 'Director, since coming here everyday I have been running like this. That's not right!' I thought I probably almost got him so mad that he almost died!" * (2012/09/23) The film CROSS (DAI 6 GAI) last night held its premiere. Attending artists included Liu Kai Chi, Paul Wong Koon Chung, Mini Kung Chi Yan, Oceane Zhu Xuan and Evelyn Choi Wing Yan. Evelyn took part in this film and pointed out that this film subject was very special. In the film she would have a hanging scene, which she completed in one take. Originally the director did not need her to be truly hung, but for realism she asked to perform the stunt personally. The crew was very concerned about her safety. During the shoot, the moment of hanging was truly very tough and she somewhat regretted it. Luckily in the end she was fine. Evelyn in the film also had an arm slashing scene. She remembered when she was in school a classmate did the same thing. Has she given up on herself over something heart breaking? She admitted that she has but in the end she realized that many people cared about her. Was it her relationship with Mr. member Tom? Evelyn said that she has dated more than once. Zhu Xuan guest starred in this film as Simon Yam Tat Wa's wife. * (2012/09/22) The 85th Oscars will take place next year. Currently it has begun to accept applications for Best Foreign Film Award nominations. The Johnnie To Kei Fung directed LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE (DUET MING GUM) will represent Hong Kong. The film defeated Alan Mak Siu Fung and Felix Chong Man Keung's THE SILENT WAR (TING FUNG JEH) and Tsui Hark's FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE (LUNG MOON FEI GAP). To Kei Fung said, "I am very happy, I really have to thank the investing Boss Lam and the group of workers." * (2012/09/22) The Justin Cheung Kin Sing, pseudo model Jeana Ho Pui Yu, Celia Kwok Wing Yi, Mainland erotic star Danielle Wang Lidan starred new film DUE WEST OUR SEX JOURNEY (YUT LO HEUNG SAI) two days ago opened with 1.39 million, better than this year's highest grossing Hong Kong film VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KET)'s 1.19 million opening box office. Cheung Kin Sing was confident about the new film's momentum. "Many viewers after viewing had great reaction. I am confident that Saturday and Sunday weekend box office will be even better!" * (2012/09/22) Ronald Cheng Chung Kei, Raymond Lam Fung, Teresa Mo Shun Kwan, Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam) and Karena Lam Chin Yu, director Vincent Kok Tak Siu and boss Raymond Wong Pak Ming two nights ago attended the LOVE IS PYJAMAS (NAM YUN YU YI FOK) premiere. Cheng Chung Kei's wife Sammie Yu Sze Man, Kok Tak Siu's girlfriend KiKi Lin (Lam Chi Huen), Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Kenny Bee (Chung Chun To) and Wu Chun attended. Lam Fung and Ng Chin Yu were linked in rumors. Two nights ago they were asked to pose for photos together. Lam Fung graciously stepped up, but after the photo opportunity he left in a hurry and said that he had to do interviews. Then the cast shared their experience on the stage. Lam Fung and Ng Chin Yu had rather little exchange and seemed to be avoiding each other. Lam Fung said that he was not afraid to share the stage with Ng Chin Yu, because earlier they just worked together on a movie. He said that he was not afraid that his fans would not like that because in the past he treated all rumors with female artists as promotion. Fan would not mind. Thus he did not need to deliberately avoid her. Cheng Chung Kei two nights ago appeared with his wife. He said that their daughter was already asleep at home. How was his good friend Cheung Tat Ming's health? He said, "OK, last week we had dinner together he was fine. His appetite was great, he had curry and Wagyu beef. He was considered fully recovered, currently he was in detoxification rest period. All the chemo-therapy was already done." He said that Tat Ming's job has not been affected much. He and Vincent Kok Tak Siu also planned to make DRAGON LOADED 3 (LUNG GUM WAI 3) and saved a part for Tat Ming. Cheng Chung Kei also said that Tat Ming was in a decent mood and still came up with rotten gags. Two nights ago he informed him about the premiere, Tat Ming sent a text message to wish him a successful premiere. Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam) was asked if she invited Aaron Kwok Fu Sing. She said that probably not to the premiere. She said that she would ask Sing Sing for his opinion. She too would enjoy the Sing Sing starred COLD WAR (HONG JIN). Although they were in competition, she hoped that they would watch both movies. * (2012/09/21) Mainland Milk Cow Gang "Xiangxi Zhang Jingchu" Mo Qiwen and "Mongol Cow Girl" Danielle Wang Lidan made busty appearances in the 3D category III film DUE WEST OUR SEX JOURNEY (YUT LO HEUNG SAI). As Mainland comrades they came to Hong Kong to make a category III film. A Shanghai medical university student, F cup Wang Lidan said that she made the movie to make 4 million yuan RMB to fulfill her dream of opening a medical clinic in the Mainland after graduating next year. Yet she worried that her category III star image would affect her career as a doctor. The Mark Wu Yiu Fai directing debut, 3D category III film DUE WEST OUR SEX JOURNEY, opened yesterday. In it Mainland Milk Chow gang "Xiang Xi Zhang Jingchu" Mo Qiwen and Mongol Cow Girl Wang Lidan's performance stole the spotlight, as they utilized their giant "busts" to kill otakus. DUE is about a northern sex trek, the subject was sensitive and the film has been banned in the Mainland. They as Mainlanders on the other hand came to Hong Kong to bare all. They actually gave an enormous price after deciding to make the sacrifice for art. F cup Wang Lidan's busty back massage for lead actor Justin Cheung Kin Sing became the entire film's climax. In her first category III film performance she daringly bared all, off camera though she actually was a Shanghai medical student. Earlier she said, "Honestly, I participated in this film because I want to make a quick buck. My goal is to make 4 million. Although I won't graduate from medical school until October next year, I will have to apply for an license and open a clinic. I will have a lot of expenses. I hope to make enough in preparation for the clinic." Wang Lidan's performance in DUE was natural and smooth. Investor Stephen Shiu Jr. invited her to perform in 3D SEX AND ZEN: EXTREME ECSTASY 2, but Wang Lidan worried that making nude scenes nonstop would affect her medical career. Was she worried that she would be banned like Tang Wei after LUST CAUTION? She said, "The situations aren't the same. Tang Wei in the film had some very sensitive scenes." Wang Lidan said that she would continue to make movies until she made 4 million RMB if it did not affect her school work. She said, "I won't give up on becoming a doctor, but I am a litlte worried that making a category III film would affect me being a doctor." The 32C bust "Xiang Xi Zhang Jingchu" Mo Qiwen gave a topless performance, thus argued and broke up with her Mainland four eyed boyfriend. Mo Qiwen was determined to choose career first. She said, "My boyfriend should respect my show business career. Since I chose to make it, the break up is no big deal." * (2012/09/21) The Mainland director Zhao Linshan directed, Chow Yun Fat, Liu Yifei, Alec Su (So Yau Peng) and Annie Yi Nung Jing starred film THE ASSASSINS (TUNG CHEUK TOI) will be released in the Mainland next Friday for the National Day slot. Also released in the same week will be the Stephen Fung Tak Lun directed TAI CHI 0, the Fan Bingbing starred DOUBLE EXPOSURE (YI CHI BO GUONG) and the Jang Dong-Gun and Zhang Ziyi starred DANGEROUS LIAISONS. With some much competition Fat Gor knew that this time would be a tough battle. As the soul of THE ASSASSINS, Fat Gor played Cao Cao. Earlier he lamented in a Mainland interview, "This Cao Cao is different. He is very modern, very emotional, a Cao Cao who is very human and not an empty hero. Putting aside this name Cao Cao, actually he is a modern person, a very modern politician. This film from another angle looks at Cao Cao, which I feel rather familiar with." * (2012/09/21) Jeana Ho Pui Yu and Angelina Zhang (Cheung Woon Nga) yesterday promoted DUE WEST OUR SEX JOURNEY (YUT LO HEUNG SAI). Cheung Woon Nga admitted that she went all out with being sexy. "I am dirty and angelic mainly to coordinate with this adult film. In the future if I will make a drama I will consider to be more conservative." As for the film receiving complaints about similarities in school emblems, Cheung Woon Nga said, "They should only be similar. Hong Kong school uniforms are much prettier than the Mainland ones." Jeana earlier attended the wedding of her boyfriend Parkman Cheung's older brother Ronnie Cheung Ho Lung. She said that elders were rushing them to wed, but she declined to reveal whether she was Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi. "I am only 23, I have to be a little more mature before considering marriage." Would they get intimate on the street? She said, "Intimate behavior of course would only feel safe at home. Cheung Pak Man and I would only hold hands in the car and shift the car into gear together." * (2012/09/21) Yumiko Cheng Hei Yi and Jing Boran in the film THE BULLET VANISHES (SIU SUT DIK JI DAN) had an ambiguous relationship that unfortunately was unable to bare fruit. Yumiko this time played a coroner and was stumped. Director Law Chi Leung asked her to design 99 interpretations. During the shoot she had to roll and smoke a cigarette and act with an ostrich. Her co-stars Lau Ching Wan, Liu Kai Chi, and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung were great actors, which made her both happy and stressed. "Ching Wan and Ting Fung were very serious on the set. Later I asked Ching Wan for acting advice. I also gave a remote control car to Ting Fung for Christmas to break through their line up!" Jing Boran lamented that he had too few scenes with Yumiko, but from Ching Wan and Ting Fung he learned a lot. "Ching wan knew that I wasn't satisfied with my performance after being shot and asked the director to give me another chance. He even rehearsed with me; off camera, he was particularly humorous. Ting Fung taught me to shoot a gun. During the explosion scene he also reminded me to be careful with the trigger spots and saved my life." * (2012/09/21) COLD WAR (HONG JIN) will open on October 18. This film at the same time is the 17th Busan International Film Festival opening film and will hold its global premiere on October 4. Yesterday its stars Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Tony Leung Ka Fai appeared in Beijing for a heroic duo press conference for the Busan visit. At the press conference, the film made a "heroic duo special" for the two appearing Best Actors. In the special, Kwok Fu Sing and Leung Ka Fai face off at the police station, battle wits on the roof and other behind the scene details were unveiled. The earlier released trailers, posters and internal screenings made many feel that COLD WAR was the best strong film in the past decade. Both lead actors deeply agreed. "Otherwise why would the Busan Film Festival select a film by two new directors for its opening film? This truly is the pride of our Hong Kong film." Leung Ka Fai said. They also revealed an indirectly brotherly relationship that few knew about. Because Ka Fai and Sing Sing's older brother, who passed away in 1990, both attended the same school, he always treated Sing Sing like a little brother. Sing Sing always admired Leung Ka Fai very much. When he won his first Best Actor award in 2005, Ka Fai was the first person to embrace him and encourage him. He was as intimate as an older brother. Ka Fai said, "I really treat Sing Sing like a little brother. Seeing his improvement and success, I truly am very happy." * (2012/09/20) The lawsuit between Stephen Chow Sing Chi's Star Overseas and Mainland star Kitty Zhang Yuqi earlier has already reached a verdict in the Mainland, but it has not ended due to Star Overseas' appeal. Star Overseas management company yesterday reiterated Star Overseas' contract with Zhang Yuqi has not been terminated yet. Thus no one should be misguided when hiring an artist. Yesterday reportedly Chow Sing Chi signed a five film, seven year contract with a Mainland company. Star overseas said that because the contract had no time restriction on release, Sing Yeh would likely release one movie a year. * (2012/09/20) The Justin Cheung Kin Sing, Jeana Ho Pui Yu starred category III film DUE WEST OUR SEX JOURNEY (YUT LO HEUNG SAI) was released today but has already attracted controversy. Due to the surprised appeared on a Kowloon Tong School (secondary section) uniform and badge in the film trailer, the school headmaster Chung Kwok Keung was strongly upset. Yesterday the school issued a statement that "strongly reprimanding actors of sex selling film for wearing this school's uniform" and stated that two days ago it has already filed a complaint with the Office for Film, Newspaper and Article Administration and a copy was sent to the Educational Bureau Kowloon City District School Development Section. The film company yesterday said, "We are still trying to get an understanding." Jeana said, "I am not too certain about the details, I only know that the director has said to change the school uniform. Actually if a problem arises in the end, just release a censored version." She also said that she was not afraid parents would blast her after the film release. * (2012/09/20) Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho), Yao Chen and Simon Yam Tat Wa worked on the Kenneth Bi (But Kwok Chi) directed film CONTROL (HONG SING GAI), which shot on location in Hong Kong. They have been working over night for several nights in a row. Yao Chen dragged Ng Yin Cho for photos to amuse herself. She at first was a little shy with the hunk, but she did not expect Ng Yin Cho to make faces next to her. When they stared at the sky, Ng Yin Cho said that he saw an alien while Yao Chen was Martian possessed as she said welcome to Mars. * (2012/09/20) The AngelaBaby starred film TAI CHI will open on September 27. This time Baby in the film played a Tai Chi master Chen Yuniang. She not only attempted a fight scene on "wires" but also a vicious and violent personality. She admitted that when she first read the script she too felt that this character was too vicious. Because as soon as she got mad she would hit hard, everyone was afraid of her. Yet this character was not someone who bullied people with her kung fu. She also had her lovable side. Because she was righteous and courageous, she was a rare breed in ancient times. Baby pointed out that playing such a different character truly was a lot of fun. She said that in reality she would not be very vicious and very tough with anyone or anything. She would be more vicious with herself, she would accept a variety of challenges and complete something that would be hard to imagine. TAI CHI took six months to complete. Baby was playing the more tomboyish image and character in the film. Even after the shoot she still behaved quite like a man, even friends said that she turned into another person. She said that sometimes when she chatted with friends, she would sit like a man and frighten her friends. She said that after the shoot, she did not know how to adjust to this series of changes. Now she still thought she has become too masculine. Baby now is working on the Tsui Hark directed film DETECTIVE DEE PREQUEL (DIK YUN KIT CHIN JUEN). She said that when she joined the team she was still walking like a guy. The director often reminded her not to walk too much like Chen Yuniang. [ BLAH OF THE WEEK ] Columns, Reviews, Interviews 1. APPLE DAILY, SEPTEMBER 23 2012, ELECTRIC FILM ROAD AARON KWOK VS. TONY LEUNG KA FAI Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Tony Leung Ka Fai in the Johnnie To Kei Fung film THROW DOWN (YAU DOH LUNG FU BONG) played Judo masters. Many are still savoring their fight in the film. As for a fight in real life, at the 2005 Golden Horse Award and the Hong Kong Film Award after they each with DIVERGENCE (SAM CHA HAU) and ELECTION (HAK SEH WUI) won Best Actor and each won one. Without a decisive victor, Heaven perhaps wanted to see one as they were arranged to share the screen again in the film COLD WAR (HONG JIN). Leung Ka Fai said that one of the argument scenes was like an action sequence. Sing Sing revealed that the scene took 21 takes before the director accepted one. The result would have to wait until next year's award shows, with the decision lying with the jury. - LO PING, WAN MAN CHI Kwok Fu Sing earlier accepted an interview to promote the film COLD WAR. In the film he rarely played a deputy police commissioner. Sing Sing felt that with the character's set restrictions, the performance would have certain difficulties. "In the past I played the basic rank characters. In general the police identity is what the general public understands. Yet in such a high rank actually not much information research can be done. Thus the director had to spend five years to write the script to fill it into a whole story. I have never played such a high power character, even the pace of my speech had to be handled carefully. This time to me was a test. When I received the script October last year, originally I had to rehearse for my concerts. I postponed the rehearsals for a month and compressed the dance rehearsal time from 8 to 16 hours a day. The other reason was I was able to work with Leung Ka Fai." The Entire Set Held Its Breath The opening was an argument scene with Ka Fai, which took 21 takes before the directors accepted one. Sing Sing admitted that this scene was an acting duel. He said, "The lines were many and the speed fast. During the shoot, the crew on the set didn't dare to take too much of a breath. After the shoot I was filled with a sense of satisfaction." Sing Sing and Ka Fai worked together on THROW DOWN but had few scenes together. This time could be considered as making up for it. If memory serves their fight was not limited to within the movie. In 2005 Ka Fai with ELECTION competed with Sing Sing and DIVERGENCE for the Golden Horse Best Actor. Sing Sing first caught up with Ka Fai to win Best Actor. He still remembered at the time he walked over to Ka Fai to embrace him, and Ka Fai patted him once to show support. Then at the Hong Kong Film Award, the situation turned around, made them appreciate each other and more or less enabled this collaboration. Sing Sing said, "Good actors have to keep giving, honing themselves. A good script with a good co-star is even rarer. Substance needs condition to coordinate. I have shaken off all the characters that I have played in the past. Interacting with Ka Fai the natural born good actor, we both were able to hammer out the acting." Won't Lose Best Actor Competition Last time they each won one Best Actor award. If COLD WAR would make them compete again, the result would remain unknown. Sing Sing boasted a little, "I feel I won't lose, I am confident. This time is close combat, real and hardcore. Ten years ago as a singer I split half the time to be an actor. I didn't have enough time to hone. With endless revelations, my ability to analyze each character has become stronger." He felt that a good actor had to have the self confidence to be able to act well. If he did not even have this bit of confidence, he would be wasting his time in show business. Claiming to be at the peak of his career, Sing Sing made a 4 year promise to his girlfriend. He said, "Mentally I am thinking not after 50, right now I am 46. I have 4 more years. After marriage I guess I will have children, I really like children too." Leung Ka Fai has played countless characters. This time he worked on two new directors Sunny Luk Kim Ching and Longman Leung Lok Man's film COLD WAR. Working with new directors, he did not have a shred of unease. Ka Fai said, "This is a very new flavor authentic Hong Kong style film. Aside from the police, the story also has Independent Commission Against Corruption and Security Bureau. I was attracted to the script. In my performing art life to be able to take this role at this Hong Kong film depression and have this character for me, I am lucky." Passionate Arguing Resembles Fighting Ka Fai and Kwok Fu Sing in the film were both deputy police commissioners. With more dramatic scenes in the film, Ka Fai admitted that the level of passion was no less than an action film. In several argument scenes with Sing Sing, the feeling was no different from a fight scene and remained him of their To Kei Fung film THROW DOWN. He said, "With Ah Sing in THROW DOWN I had two scenes, but they were very short and had no line. This time was a real collaboration. Yet actually I started to pay attention to Sing Sing with AFTER THIS OUR EXILE (FU JI), he truly has opened my eyes because for AFTER THIS OUR EXILE he had to go to Malaysia for several months and give up his dance king image. That film was very hard to play. When I learned that he took it, my view of him was already different. He wasn't just stepping over the line to mess around, he truly was for real. At that time I already looked forward to working with him a little. We appreciated each other. This collaboration even confirmed my view of him." Emotional Upheaval, Wanting To Retire Ka Fai earlier while promoting at the Venice Film Festival admitted that he thought about retirement. He said, "I have thought about retirement for many years. At the time I thought I was affecting my family and the people around me too much. Daddy was an artist and affected the daughters, friends suddenly shattered after being photographed. I ended up with fewer and fewer friends. When my daughters started elementary school, every time something happened I would think, retire. After this one I would quit, I am working so hard for what? In the future I won't know whether I would be weak and frail. Under such emotional upheavals I would think I might as well retire. Yet at this moment I am at ease, because my daughters are grown and overseas. Right now the most important is my wife isn't affected. Since in the past few years my production rate has been low, I have been off on summer vacation, Easter and Christmas as I want to see my daughters." Looking back at his past film industry performance, Best Actor Ka Fai admitted that he never pursued awards. However of course nominations and awards would be the best, even just a nomination and no award was good. Even no nomination was fine because it permits you to look back at the production rate last year, whether you did well enough and examine your own performance. However every time a nomination would make him excited inside, he would be nervous until the moment of the announcement. Synopsis: Police Traitor Endangers Hong Kong In COLD WAR police officers are held hostage inside an Emergency Unit vehicle. They included deputy police commissioner Lee Man Bun (Leung Ka Fai)'s only son (Eddie Peng Yu-yen). Two next term commissioner favorites war hawk Lee Man Bun and Lau Kit Fai (Kwok Fu Sing) hope to get credit for the task. However the criminals know the police force operation like the backs of their hands. During the ransom exchange police officer Tsui Wing Kei (Chin Kar Lok) dies as criminals get away scott free. The entire operation costs the Treasury 80 million in ransom as two police officers die. At the same time an anonymous tip to the Independent Commission Against Corruption suspects one of the two deputy police commissioners of embezzlement. The police and the Hong Kong governance loop holes have been exposed as the target points straight at high ranking police officials. Actually, the reason that Hong Kong has been called the "safety city" is just because it has not met a real enemy. Release Date: October 18 2. MING PAO DAILY, SEPTEMBER 23 2012, FILM WORDS DUE WEST LIVES UP TO ITS SEX SELLING TASK Does Hong Kong film truly have to rely on "being dirty" to save the market? This trend in the recent two years has been very obvious. Although straight laced nostalgia films ECHOES OF THE RAINBOW (SHUI YUET SUN TAU) and A SIMPLE LIFE (TOH JEH) both were surprise hits and even attracted many children to display their filial piety to attend with elders, even bigger hits were the outright indecent 3D SEX AND ZEN (3D YUK PO TUEN) and VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KET). Recently LAN KWAI FONG 2 (HEI OI YEH PO 2) also made over 10 million, now DUE WEST OUR SEX JOURNEY (YUT LO HEUNG SAI) opened at the top of the box office. Obviously category III sex and foul language invasion could not be stopped. With waves after busty waves, they have become the unique ability of Hong Kong film with the most market certainty. DUE WEST OUR SEXY JOURNEY Writing And Directing Fit The Bill With mainly film industry new comers on and off screen, 3D DUE WEST: OUR SEX JOURNEY was adapted from the "Xiang Xi Haruki Murakami" internet novel. Reportedly the original had a little fun with Japan's Haruki Murakami's famous work THE NORWEGIAN WOOD and turned it into a Hong Kong man's "flesh forest" sex trek to Shenzhen and Dongguan. This film truly sells sex and flesh. It resembles a sex guide even more, but in all fairness, writer and director Mark Wu Yiu Fai's technique fits the bill. The film depicts a normal nice guy's growing process from following the rules to adrift in the sea of lust rather smoothly and vividly. It is also brutally humorous. In the film the male lead (Justin Cheung Kin Sing)'s childhood scenes were rather wonderful. An equivalent of old Hong Kong film YESTERYOU YESTERME YESTERDAY (HEUNG JIU SING SHOOK SI)'s new version, the most wonderful was him under the headmistress style mother's strict rule. His first love and sex encounter in secondary school was a little like YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE. Actually this Taiwan film last year broke the new highest grossing Chinese film in Hong Kong box office, one of the reasons was its out of bounds adolescence sex play. Writer and director Giddens Ko also rose to fame with internet novels. DUE WEST OUR SEX JOURNEY even talked about the lead's romance while studying in England and after returning to Hong Kong and becoming a professional his relationship with a flight attendant (Celia Kwok Wing Yi), all of which were somewhat life like. "The main plot" of course was the sex trek up north, providing a sex guide for the curious for some decent looking Northern rouge to perform a variety of "services". As a dirty film, this movie has a lot of gimmicks and makes some sense. Star Cheung Kin Sing looks upright and is not a pervert who upsets people. Classmate "Wong Jing" has a style of her own, the flesh trade ladies also "blossom with variety". However, DUE WEST OUR SEX JOURNEY ultimately is a dirty movie for male sex clients. In comparison to past Hong Kong prostitute classics that captures society blues and feminine feelings like TEMPLE STREET QUEEN (MIU GAI WONG HAU), DURIAN DURIAN (LAU LIN PIU PIU) and GOLDEN CHIKCEN (GUM GAI), it truly is quite far off. The recent WHISPERS AND MOANS (SING GUNG JOOK JEH) film series might be "outdated" and not fit for new generation taste, but it cared about the lower class without being dirty.
