The Gigi directed micro movie is called LUCKY COOKIE. Last week, Gigi lead a team to a tea house on Tai Ping Shan Street in Sheung Wan to shoot LUCKY COOKIE. The entire family even came in support. Her husband Sergio brought her son Luna, Mother Leung and friend Valen Hsu (Hui Yu Won) to cheer her on. Sergio was on hand until the wrap, running around and bringing tea to his beloved wife. Luna was also very obedient and played with the team. It even demonstrated its Hand Hand trick and made everyone laugh, lightening the serious work environment a little. Gigi originally was worried that she would be distracted, thus she only planned to write and direct. Later after finishing the script her friends thought she could not be more suitable for the role. After further consideration she decided to perform. In addition, Gigi's junior colleague Shaun Tam Chun Yin due to his love for photography also became one of the film's actors and even the photographer. Other actors included Yumiko Cheng Hei Yi, Ken Hung Cheuk Lap and Hotcha's Crystal. Their performance would made the first time micro movie director Gigi very satisfied. In the film Gigi played a cookie shop boss. The story revolved around this boss' countless encounters. Aside from selling cookies that made her customers happy but also building relationships with them. Whenever she saw a customer in trouble, she would put notes inside the cookies as encouragement and resolution for customers. The entire film displayed the concern between people. Crystal in the film played a girl who dreamt of stardom, Hung Cheuk Pa played a shy guy who wanted to meet a girl. They were portraits of young people's lives now. Tam Chun Yin and Yumiko played a couple who always argued. Boss Gigi resolved their dispute for them. On the day of the shoot, Yumiko was very happy with a floral arrangement. she was completely different from the always arguing look in the film. Hung Cheuk Lap before places often took photos from the side to save valuable memories from this performance. * (2012/06/13) For the 15th anniversary of the Hong Kong Hand Over, Xinhua News Agency earlier interviewed Nicholas Tse Ting Fung. This formerly rebellious and stubborn boy is now already a mature, wise and responsible man. However, as he said, show business "is not as glorious as everyone sees on the surface". When Ting Fung first got into the business, when her performed people threw glow sticks at him. He said that he kept getting glow sticks and foul language thrown at him until around 20, jeers off the stage became silence then applause. "That was a very happy process, it wasn't like I succeeded as soon as I walked out." Now performing more and more stunts in action films, Tse Ting Fung's health actually has always been poor. Due to the irregularity of show business operation and how demanding he has always been on himself, he often had to rely on sleeping pills to sleep. As soon as he started he has been on them for 12 years. The source of giving himself pressure, he who was always full of self confidence in front of others admitted, was from having suspicions and fear almost everyday. "Actually being in this business is very painful. You are under the watch of others every second of every minute. You have to evaluate anew every word you say, everything you do is magnified. It is miserable." What upset Ting Fung the most was others' concern for his love life always overshadowed his hard work. "In recent years many people said to me, you worked very hard on THE VIRAL FACTOR (YIK JIN). Actually in my 15 year career my attitude has never changed. In the past you were always talking to me about who I was dating. Now you finally are willing to see Tse Ting Fung the person and his work." 15 years ago, Hong Kong film still had variety. Nowadays Tse Ting Fung expressed some regret, in particular his long beloved action film is in the midst of the generation gap. "So when you ask me why I am so stubborn when I make movies, why I insist on doing it myself, because there is no one to take the baton." He admitted that he did not come from a martial art background, he could only under the motivation of his dream tough it out with his spirit. "You can say I am not an action actor, you don't dare to say I am not an actor who risks his life. In my movies, I am the one who jumps from the 41st floor." Ting Fung was asked about Hong Kong's changes over these 15 years. He thought for awhile and said mischievously, "This Earth has many more iPads! I feel Hong Kong is still good, it can still insist on many of its own style. You can buy what you want to buy, for travel and promotion it is great." He said that such a small place could still have certain influence on the entire world, relying on just its 7 million people it was considered decent. Yet without the Mainland it still would fail. * (2012/06/13) The Calvin Poon Yuen Leung directed new film SHADOWS OF LOVE (YING JI OI YUN) has completed its production earlier. The director shared how he got along with actress Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi and Korean star Kwon Sang-Woo. Poon Yuen Leung said that at first he was very worried that he would have to handle many problems. "If the actors were not focused, then focusing on the shoot would be very hard. At the same time I worried about not being able to communicate with Kwon Sang-Woo, but actually it was easier to handle than I would imagine." The director pointed out that Kwon Sang-Woo did his job fully. Not only was his work attitude good, he was also able to give him the acting that he needed. The other "time bomb" Cheung Pak Chi during the shoot ran into a marital crisis; the director said, "Both actors' schedules were dead set, as they were only able to give a little more than a month. The shoot was already very intense, but Pak Chi had to take three days off last minute. At the time I was worried, if she returned from vacation and still was unable to return to the production mood the entire production progress would be stymied. I appreciated her for after returning being able to do her job fully. In one scene she even amazed me. They argued and broke up, her performance was very focused. Pak Chi seemed to put her own thing into the role, the feeling made the movie even better." Cheung Pak Chi's recent film box office has been lacking. Poon Yuen Leung protected her and said, "It's not Pak Chi's fault, mostly because viewers felt those movies were not their first choice. (Andrew) Lau Wai Keung, Shu Qi and Liu Ye's BEAUTIFUL LIFE also had a great team but its box office wasn't great." * (2012/06/13) Cherie Chung Chor Hung yesterday attended a jewelry store opening at Central. Hung Goo appeared in an over HK$5 million tiara and looked like a princess. Hung Goo however said that when she was little she did not imagine herself to be a princess. She joked that even if she was a princess she was a princess in distress. Hung Goo yesterday attended with Claudie Chung Chun and her assistant. Did Hung Goo sign with her? She said that she was her friend and they were often in contact and met for dinner. Was she paving her way for a comeback? Hung Goo said that a film production would be too far off. Right now she did not deliberately think about it as she would let everything take its natural course. She was afraid that no one would watch her movies. Now very few scripts have been offered to her. If she was going to she would have a long time ago. If she had a good script would she turn it down? Hung Goo said that she would leave it up to fate. She did not think too far off, of course partners would also be very important. Who would she like to work with? She said that she did not think about that nor did she dare to. She said, "Who would watch me?" Reporters said that she was very popular as she quickly had over 10,000 followers online. Hung Goo said, "It took around two weeks." Hung Goo also said that a movie about environmental protection might be able to move her. Even if she had to work the field she would not mind. Would she mind playing a mother? She said that she did not know how. She could take care of animals and plants, but children she was afraid would be hard to control. * (2012/06/12) Yesterday after Taiwan "otaku goddess" Michelle Chen worked together with the "Strongest in the Universe" Donnie Yen Chi Tan on a new film TOGETHER. With humidity of sunshine with passing showers, Michelle Chen lay on the ground in a wedding gown for hte shoot. Yen Chi Tan might not be playing Ip Man but as the traffic cop he still made a heroic pose to save the goddess in distress. Michelle Chen for convenience wore sneakers. Although she had an assistant, right on the director's cue she shot the scene on the ground despite the smoke emitting from it due to the heat. Yen Chi Tan in his traffic cop uniform very professionally got into character; used to playing a hero, Yen Chi Tan while saving the injured Michelle Chen made a heroic leap to the goddess to check on her as if Ip Man has traveled through time and space. This scene went smoothly and the team broke for lunch. Yen Chi Tan stripped down to only a tank top and left in his vehicle. Michelle Chen remained inside the wedding store that the team loaned to rest. Later school was out and many students looked on as they kept screaming goddess. Yen Chi tan in his traffic cop uniform was so convincing that few pedestrians recognized him. * (2012/06/12) The hit film that made NT$300 million in Taiwan, DIN TAO has become this year's highest grossing Taiwan film. The film two nights ago held its Hong Kong premiere. Director Fung Kai and actors Alan Ko (Or Yau Lun) and Alien Huang (Wong Hung Sing) attended. Yau Lun was the son of the late actor Blackie Ko (Or Sau Leung). For his first starring role, his sister Yau Chun and her husband both came to Hong Kong to support him. Blackie's friends like Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Michael Miu Kiu Wai and his wife Chik Mei Chun, Teddy Robin Kwan and others came to support him as well. Yau Lun was so emotional that he hid backstage and cried. Yau Lun said that he appreciated the director for insisting on casting him. In the film he even had the chance to say what was in his heart to his late father, as he stated that he was also proud of his father. He also was very happy that the film was a big hit in Taiwan and said, "Papa blessed it. Mommy was also very happy and breathed a sigh of relief. After ten years I finally have a movie. Mommy also saw this film in Taiwan but did not dare to return to Hong Kong. She was afraid that she would be too emotional." Speaking of many uncles' support two night ago, Yau Lun admitted that he was very emotional too and even hid backstage and cried. He thought that being able to bring his film to Hong Kong was a great Father's Day present for his late father. Recently Yau Lun was linked to Michelle Chen in rumors. Would he invite her to watch this film? Yau Lun said that he watched her YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE but did not know whether she would watch his film. He believed that she was supportive of him. Hok Yau was in constant contact with Yau Chun and even played tennis with her husband. With the summer vacation on the way, he said that his daughters would stay in Hong Kong and he would teach them how to play. Speaking of Andy Lau Tak Wa's daughter one month celebration, Hok Yau said that he read the news but has not have the chance to meet "Little Dragon Maiden". Reporters said that he was a Heavenly King so he should have a chance to see her once; Hok Yau joked that he was in the same class as the reporters. Although he was a Heavenly King, he already added the words "over the hill" to the title. Reporters joked that he not only was a Heavenly King but also Song God. Hok Yau said, "Ha, the street is full of Song Gods." After completing his world tour Hok Yau will first rest and spend more time with his daughters. He said that his daughters often said that they missed Papa, but when they saw him they would only watch television. Tsang Chi Wai said before Blackie's passing, everyone told him to relax as they would take care of his children. Thus this time everyone responded with just one call. He learned that Yau Lun has been very nice and worked hard to perform well. Later he planned to approach him about his own movie. Speaking of Father's Day, Chi Wai said that this year the most special was his new grandchild, who was also the best present. Recently his former wife was rumored to be in love with her assistant who was more than ten years her junior, Chi Wai said that was decently. He also said that when his father was alive, every year at his birthday his former wife would come to congratulate him. Yet now they are rarely in contact. * (2012/06/12) Today, director Chin Kwok Wai led stars Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Teresa Mo Shun Kwan, Susan Shaw Yam Yam, Mak Cheung Ching, Samantha Ko Hoi Ning in red to promote the film I LOVE HONG KONG 2012 (HEI SEUNG GA HEI) in Shenzhen. The film will be a family comedy. In it, Tsang Chi Wai and Mo Shun Kwan interpreted a love story with endless comedy. To win over the "Old Lady", Tsang Chi Wai not only "gave up his dignity" and performed an erotic dance but also was "Spider-Man, Captain America and Batman" possessed to perform a Chinese parody of AVENGERS. The film will open on Jun 15 in the Mainland. Tsang Chi Wai said, "In comedy finding a good partner is uneasy. Mo Shun Kwan and I have already played 'couples' many times. We are very optimistic about this film." Mo Shun Kwan said that she fell in love with dancing during this period. In the film she only danced a "Lady GaGa" routine to break through her own image and had Tsang Chi Wai under her spell. Tsang Chi Wai immediately asked the director, "Do we need to make a movie like SEX AND ZEN for us to play a couple and rock the bed for fun?" Mo Shun Kwan immediately flirted and called him "despicable". As for the praise of being well maintained, she joked, "I was born beautiful and I like to exercise, so my skin is very delicate and don't have many wrinkles. Pretty women want to be just like me, they have to exercise more and live healthy lives." As the film's producer, Tsang Chi Wai said that this film was completed with the collaboration with many Mainland and Hong Kong stars. Looking back that 15 years of film journey since the Hong Kong Hand Over, Tsang Chi Wai admitted that currently good cinematography and art teams have all moved to work in the Mainland. Hong Kong has a talent shortage and directly leads to Hong Kong film production reduction. He said, "The Mainland market is very large. Even the TITANIC 3D version made over 1 billion at the box office. Developing Chinese film must be the future film development trend. As a Hong Kong actor, we now have to merge into the Chinese market and work hard on language, understand Mainland viewer thinking to make even better movies." * (2012/06/12) The Media Asia invested and distributed MOTORWAY (CHEH SAU) will be released simultaneously on June 21 in Hong Kong and the Mainland. Earlier the film has already been confirmed for a premiere in Locarno, Switzerland. Yesterday more good news came as MOTORWAY was already confirmed to take part in the 2012 Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival, where Shawn Yue Man Lok once won Best Actor. Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival will take place between July 19 to 29. For now director Soi Cheang Po Shui will attend. Anthony Wong Chau Sun and Lok Jai still did not know whether they would be able to make time. The director was very excited the film being selected and hoped that the more places the film would be screening the better. He will head to Puchon, Korea at the end of July with his wife and daughter since it was the summer vacation. As for awards, he would let it take its natural course and would not think more about it. Who did Cheang Bo Shui between Chau Sun and Lok Jai have the chance to win Best Actor? He felt that their acting was great as they thoroughly performed the characters. He hoped that both would be able to win. Wong Chau Sun was very happy to hear the news and hoped that the Korean viewers would enjoy his acting. MOTORWAY will also on the 16th held a red carpet event at the Shanghai Film Festival. Cheang Bo Shui, Wong Chau Sun, Yue Man Lok, Josie Ho Chiu Yi, Gordon Lam Ka Tung and the film's action director Chin Kar Lok will appear. * (2012/06/12) Dior Cheng Yi Kin and Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin after MY SASSY HUBBY (NGOR LO POR NG GAU CHING) ten years later reunited for NGOR LO GUNG NG SUN SING (MY HUBBY IS OUT OF HIS MIND). Two nights ago the film held a "make up banquet" at a Wan Chai hot pot casserole shop to promote. Aside from the leads, Joyce Cheng Yun Yi, Wylie Chiu Shek Chi, Izz Xu (Tsui Jing Hei) attended. Ekin again denied wedding rumors with his girlfriend Yoyo Mung Ka Wai, but he admitted that it was time to start a family. He would definitely notify everyone when he wed. Two nights ago the event wanted Ekin to coax back his wife Ah Sa just like in the film, but the event arranged for Ah Sa's buddy Yun Yi to make trouble for Ekin as she demanded for him to have spicy pig brain and chicken private. Finally Ekin cooked a bowl of "trademark apology noodle" for Ah Sa. Speaking of wedding news, Ekin said, "Of course not, constantly mentioning it truly takes the pleasant surprise out of it. Ultimately it's not like as it is reported." Ekin also said that if he got married he definitely would tell. Was he promoting for his concert this time? He said that he did not know but thought it was quite a coincidence, he might as well treat it like promotion. Ekin also blamed reporters for ruining his plans with such news. Reporters asked why he did not set a date? Ekin said, "Then before the end of the world. (The end of this year then?) Real prophet claims that the end of the world will still be a long time away." Was he ready? He joked that his concert about ready. He also stressed that he would not make the announcement after the wedding, but he might not make a big deal of it either. As for parenthood plans, Ekin said that for now he still had no such plan. He felt that this world was not suitable. However Ekin admitted that it was time to start a family, but he asked to wait until it truly happened before congratulating him. Gigi Leung Wing Kei congratulated him and Leo Ku Kui Ke suggested for him to propose on the stage. Ekin pointed out that Gei Jai could propose first but then he joked, "No, he doesn't have a girlfriend yet! Haha." Reporters said that Gei Jai denied it. Ekin joked, "If I said it I won't have to be responsible. Does he have a girlfriend?" Ah Sa said that she asked Ekin but did not believe it was true. Working together after ten years, Ah Sa said that they privately had little contact. Yet when the shoot began, she felt like they truly lived together. In one scene she beg Ekin not to leave and they both cried. Actually the director never thought it would be so melodramatic. In the film Ekin would throw water and cake at Ekin. She joked that she specifically asked the director for revenge because Ekin often played pranks on her. Ah Sa congratulated Miriam Yeung Chi Wa on her motherhood and would look for something suitable for her. Yun Yi said that she rarely would dress sexy, but this time her dream came true as she was able to play the comedy female lead's "bitchy friend". Thus she dressed up for the occasion. She joked that when she zipped up she broke the zipper. Finally she needed five safety pins, then she broke the mirror. As for Father's Day, she has not made any plan with her father. * (2012/06/12) Michael Miu Kiu Wai, Felix Wong Yat Wa, Simon Yam Tat Wa and others yesterday attended a Hong Kong Automobile Association press conference. Yam Tat Wa said that lately he has been busy with his new film FEI SEUNG GAING JEUNG (EXTRAORDINARY POLICE CHIEF), in which he played a cop. He said that now his days and nights have been swapped. Sometimes he was so tired that he had to give business to little red and little green (taxis). However Yam Tat Wa insisted on watching soccer matches at night. He would only watch one though because she truly was too tired. He also revealed that he also planned to spend the summer with his daughter and wife in London. * (2012/06/12) Michelle Chen became the otaku goddess due to YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE. Currently she is busy with the Hong Kong film TOGETHER and she still has three more films to be completed. This year she will also release a record, she hoped that she will have the chance to be close to Hong Kong fans then. She was rumored to star with Jet Li (Lee Nin Kit) in BIK LIK SUN TAM (THUNDER COP) but her manager said they have not confirmed the new film because Michelle Chen had to concentrate on the record. * (2012/06/11) New director Daniel Chan Yee Heng directed Emperor film TRIAD (JAT JIK) already wrapped up its production earlier. William Chan Wai Ting, Irene Wan Bik Ha, Patrick Tam Yiu Man, Derek Tsang Kwok Cheung had to shoot two scenes in one days. Chan Wai Ting in the film played a Wise Guy and fought in every scene. Yesterday's scene was Edward Chui Woai Dong and Kathy Yuen (Tong Yi)'s wedding banquet at a housing estate restaurant. Around the early morning, Chan Wai Ting happily said, "I finally can remove the bloody clothes, just now we were shooting a chase scene on Shanghai Street. I let all my rage erupt and thoroughly chopped the villain Lam Lei to death." Irene Wan Bik Ha's costume looked like hers in LONELY FIFTEEN (LENG MUI JAI), her former boyfriend in the film Patrick Tam Yiu praised how well maintained she has been. She said that this film brought back many memories. "When I made LONELY FIFTEEN, we had five bad girls. One of them was named Yip Shuen. We have stayed in touch, now she has become a Buddhist priestess. (Idy) Chan Yuk Lin and I used to both leave in Tiu Keng Leng, I heard that she too is practicing with hair." * (2012/06/11) Miriam Yeung Chin Wa after giving birth to Torres has maintained a low profile and not yet released her son's photo. Two days ago she even secretly leave the hospital and avoided the media. However, Real Ting Chi Ko could not help his joy as a first time father. Yesterday he finally posted a warm photo of the family of three online. He even wrote, "The new world of three has finally begun." Later Chin Wa's label East Asia also issued two photos to the media. Chin Wa was spirited with light make up. Because they were upper body photos, it was unknown whether the new mother has completely returned to form. Torres had many expressions in the arms of his parents. He often looked around, stuck out his tongue and smiled sweetly. Chin Wa and Real could not be happier. They looked at their son with gratified and happy smiles. Currently rest at home, Chin Wa said, "Thank you everyone for your concern and well wishes, on the day of my hospital release I didn't come out to see everyone because my cesarean wound still hurt. I hoped media friends would understand. Actually over the few days when I was at the hospital I never truly rested. Every two hours I had to feed once. When I got home the first time I learned was to pump milk so the nanny could feed my son in the middle of the night. Then I was able to truly sleep for a few hours. So today I am particularly energized." As for Ting Chi Ko, he said that mother and son had over ten people at their service. Chin Wa said that actually she only hired an extra nanny. She said, "I really want to take care of the baby personally, since I have a background no one should be too worried." Chin Wa also said that her wound has not completely healed so her diet had to be light. The nanny would take care of her meals and said, "Her cooking is very delicious. Every time the food came out, my hubby turns into a silver needle -- taste testing every time. Just now we had a bowl of pork soup, he drank 1/3 of the bowl in one mouthful. Thus Torres is the most like his Papa like this. I don't have to worry about feeding him at all. (Do you plan to have another to keep Torres company?) Huh? Let me adjust first, I just started to adjust to being a mother.....I will take my time to think about that." In addition, friends in the industry after seeing Real's family photo posted well wishes. Joey Yung Cho Yi: "So happy! Congratulations!" Wilfred Lau Ho Lung, "I am envious to death!" Monica Chan Fat Yung: "Congratulations! Peace! Happiness!" Gillian Chung Yun Tung and Denise Ho Wan Si not only congratulated them but Ah Si also praised how cute little Torres was. * (2012/06/11) Andy Lau Tak Wa since the birth of his daughter has rarely been outside. Two nights ago on the "Little Dragon Maiden's" one month celebration, he held a fan meeting to share his joy of fatherhood with fans and celebrated. Many media outlets waited outside but Wa Jai in order to avoid reporters chose to enter through the back door. Wa Jai's loyal fan Christine Auyeung Miu Chi brought her sons. She said that both sons liked Wa Jai's songs very much. Wa Jai often played with the children as well. Has she seen the "Little Dragon Maiden"? She said, "Not yet, wait until she is finished with front four and back six (maternity leave) first! Today I would personally congratulate him. (Did you want to make a match?) Of course I do, but I know he has always been low key." She excitedly said that she was lucky enough to receive a celebration gift, she did not know whether it was Little Dragon Maiden's hand print or a design. When she got home she would add it to her collection. Auyeung Miu Chi immediately changed the subject as she was afraid that Wa Jai would get mad. "This year the fan club heads toward its 25th anniversary, we definitely have to celebrate. The first time I worked with Wa Jai was 21 years old on June 9. I would have to remind him in a bit!" In addition, the film A SIMPLE LIFE (TOH JEH)'s director Ann Hui On Wa and Roger also appeared at the event. They at the direction of the fans signed autographs on the A SIMPLE LIFE book. What gifts did they give "Little Dragon Maiden"? Ann did not respond and only said, "Congratulations to him!" Wa Jai did not meet with the media at all. After the event, he on the official site posted a photo that consisted of over 1,000 hands. Conceivably Wa Jai's family of three were in the photo. "Little Dragon Maiden's" little hand grabbed Mommy's while Wa Jai's hands held theirs. He said, "Pairs and pairs of hands, full of heavy sentiments, with love all around, our family would become warmer and warmer." * (2012/06/11) The Angelababy and Mark Chao (Chiu Yau Ting) starred, Mainland director Han Yan directed FIRST TIME has only been released for a few days but already good news has arrived. At this year's Shanghai International Film Festival's China New Film Channel Media award it became one of the 11 nominated films Baby and Chiu Yau Ting were in the running for Best Actress and Best Actor. Two days ago Baby and the director attended five audience appreciation events. Many viewers discussed her bed scene with Chiu Yau Ting and even asked her how it felt. Baby said, "Because my kiss scene with Chiu Yau Ting was shot on the first day, the most difficult part was already done. We already had chemistry but we were a little nervous. Thus before the shoot I drank a little to ease the mood. They knew that I couldn't drink more than one because I am called One Glass Yeung! Otherwise I would be dancing all over. Thus they sent Chiu Yau Ting to watch over me. He became my personal bodyguard! Our bed scene was very innocent, it actually lived up to be just acting in bed......hee!" The film since its Mainland release due to good word of mouth and high admission rate has increased shows. Baby's good friend Ko Chen-Tung even posted, "FIRST TIME is very entertaining, I was about to cry several times but my manly inside wouldn't let me!" Speaking of FIRST TIME was nominated in 12 categories in the China New Film Channel Media Award, Baby admitted, "I let everything take its natural course, because the entire film is the result of everyone's hard work and not the glory of just one person. No matter what award it will win, the team will rejoice as one and still have the strength that viewers have given us!" * (2012/06/10) Charlie Yeung Choi Nei and Aaron Kwok Fu Sing after working together on the Yim Ho directed FLOATING CITY (FAU SING) recently has been busy with her directing debut CHRISTMAS ROSE (SING DAN MUI GWAI). Charlie has been very intense about the film and personally took care of everything. This time she worked with her good friend Sing Sing again, they of course instantly clicked. After days in production the film earlier finally wrapped in Hong Kong. That night key actors Kwok Fu Sing, Kwai Lun-Mei and Charlie gathered at Central. They first worked on a rain scene, after which the director Charlie led everyone in opening bottles of champagne to celebrate the film's successful completion. Charlie of course was excited and even embraced Kwai Lun-Mei. * (2012/06/10) Yesterday, the film TO FORGIVE (CHA MO CHI YUN)'s director Zhu Minjiang brought star Law Kar Ying to attend an event in Shenzhen. Speaking of the production, Law Kar Ying said that this would be the first time watching the film. Memories of the production still left him quivering. Not only due to the environment his entire body had an allergic reaction but also his face was paralyzed. He had to perform with half a face. It was the most difficult film of his career. At the event, Law Kar Ying gave his suggestion to the young director as he said, "In the last scene the line 'you owe me a life' was excessive, it should be removed." The director boasted his unique perspective. Law Kar Ying said, "I love to be clean. During a night scene on the 45th day of the shoot, the director kept me rolling in a drain that had sewage water all over the ground. Finally not only my skin had a reaction, but also due to the flu the left side of my face was paralyzed. It couldn't move. All the expression relied on the right side of the face. It was too tough." Zhu Minjiang even invited Law Kar Ying to produce the sequel. Law Kar Ying answered, "Great." TO FORGIVE was Zhu Minjiang's first film that starred Yu Xiaowei, Vivian Wu, Qiao Renliang and Law Kar Ying. The film was full of suspense and uncovered the dark side of humanity. Viewers said that the madness and the cruelty that the director expressed in the film were too much. As a Post 80 young director, Zhu Minjiang said that the flavor was heavy because viewers had a poor impression of domestic suspense films. He hoped to break through the international impression that Chinese "suspense would not be a hit" and that his film would have some depth that was worth reliving. Zhu Minjiang admitted that this was his work of sincerity. During the shoot in order to achieve the result the actors suffered time after time in order to be perfect. * (2012/06/09) The internet sex novel DONGGUAN FOREST is being made into the film YUT LO HEUNG SAI (A ROAD TO THE WEST). The film's selling points are its series of flesh filled bed scenes. Celia Kwok Wing Yi performed in the buff in the film, leaving her chest at the mercy of her onscreen boyfriend Justin Cheung Kin Sing as Cheung's hands became Celia's bra. The local category III film YUT LO HEUNG SAI is heating up in production. Slated for an October 1 National Day release, the film's major scenes are inevitably its series of passionate bed scenes. Pseudo model Kwok Wing Yi and lead actor Cheung Kin Sing earlier worked on a fiery flesh scene that they performed in the buff. Director Mark Wu Yiu Fai was on hand. Celia did not hesitate at all as she rapidly got into character while Cheung Kin Sing daringly bare his rear. Cheung Kin Sing played Heung Sai, who was very shy in the film, but in order to get his girlfriend Celia in bed he tried all the romantic ways to coax her and finally scored. For Celia and Cheung Kin Sing to get into their performances, director Wu Yiu Fai began psychological counseling two days before the shoot with them so they would be able to adjust properly. Before the shoot he also arranged for them to test their marks. Celia performed only in her panties and pasties. When the director ordered the cameras to roll, Cheung Kin Sing used his body to cover up the naked Celia, but according to the story he had to rub Celia's C cup missiles hard. Celia said, "At first it was somewhat awkward because I wasn't very familiar with co-star Ah Sing. Yet the director helped me a lot. He explained clearly and I felt that since I took the role I might as well go all out." As for the chest rubbing scene, Celia said, "Thanks to Ah Sing for using his hands to cover up the important areas to prevent wardrobe malfunction, after we got used to it we were very into it." Wu Yiu Fai also praised how smoothly this bed scene shoot went. "Their result was very satisfactory to me. That day they had to rehearse with all those eyes looking on, they only needed an average of three takes. Despite it was the first scene of this type they had chemistry." * (2012/06/09) Sexy star Wylie Chiu Shek Chi after realizing that she was in love with a married businessman Danny immediately ended the relationship. The heartbreak did not affect them. Earlier she led pretty girls with outstanding figures Angelina Zhang (Cheung Woon Nga), Celia Kwok Wing Yi and Eva Lee Mu-Ching to work on the film poster for YUT LO HEUNG SAI (A ROAD TO THE WEST). Before the shoot they drank red wine for courage. During the shoot Chiu Shek Chi with her long career line carried the banner. Lead actors Gregory Wong Chung Hiu was on top of Lee Mu-Ching. Pseudo model ancestor Chiu Shek Chi said that the ladies got along harmoniously and did not fight over positions. She said, "Everyone is a good friend. I am grown up, what haven't I see. I have been mad and I have been scared." Kwok Wing Yi this year will release a photo book and admitted that in the film she performed in the nude and had no bottom line. Cheung Woon Nga said that in the film she had to pleasure herself, thus she rented some adult videos to study and practice at home. Lead actor Justin Cheung Kin Sing also pointed out that in the film he battled four beauties. Although he used athletic support when he removed the tapes he would hurt the worst pain for a man. Jeana Ho Pui Yu did not attend the shoot and needed a stand in for later addition. * (2012/06/09) The preparation for the Anthony Wong Chau Sun, Anita Yuen Wing Yi, Huang Yi, Eric Tsang Chi Wai and Gillian Chung Yun Tung starred new film IP MAN -- JUNG GIK YUT JIN (IP MAN -- ULTIMATE BATTLE) is almost completed. The team has scheduled a production start in Foshan on August 4. The film company spent almost 2 billion RMB on a film and television city construction in hopes of coordinating with the shoot. In the film Ah Gil who would play Ip Man's female disciple would team up with Dennis To Yu-Hang and fly. Len Len, Chau Sun and Huang Yi will develop a love triangle. The film company has already begun promoting before production even began. Recent the poster has been ordered to announce its cast. * (2012/06/09) Aaron Kwok Fu Sing after working with Charlie Yeung Choi Nei earlier on Yim Ho's FLOATING CITY (FAU SING) again worked together on the film CHRISTMAS ROSE (SING DAN MUI GWAI), but this time Charlie has been elevated to directing. Sing Sing in order to fulfill his buddy's directing dream worked on the film for a friendly rate. In the film he even played a lawyer for the first time, often appearing stylishly in a sharp suit during the shoot. Making her directing debut, Charlie even invited Taiwan goddess Kwai Lun-Mei and new actress Wan Qian to match Sing Sing so they could set off new spark. Earlier Sing Sing, Kwai Lun-Mei, Wan Qian and Theresa Lee Yi Hung worked on Wellington Street at Central. Around 4PM, Sing Sing and Wan Qian worked on a sweet dating scene. A simple shot took Charlie over 30 minutes as she tried to be perfect. Later the production team went to a store in Kau U Fong and transformed it into a design company. As the store was being transformed, Charlie too the time to shoot another shot with Sing Sing and Wan Qian as Sing Sing drove to pick up Wan Qian. She also explained the scene to them. After shooting that scene, Wan Qian completed all of her scenes and the team applauded to send her off. Sing Sing opened his arms to give an enthusiastic hug to his new partner. When Wan Qian left, she gave a 90 degree bow to show her thanks to all of the workers. While waiting for the shoot, the team brought a lot of beverage in push carts and said that this was Sing Sing's manager Siu Mei's "treat". Lee Yi Hung often chatted with workers. Director Charlie and a child actor watched the playback at the control center; Kwai Lun-Mei walked over to Charlie to discuss the later shoot. After that, Kwai Lun-Mei even passionately hug Charlie and asked her assistant to take a photo of them. Around 7PM, two water trucks arrived in the Kau U Fong location in preparation for the man made rain shoot. In pajamas Kwai Lun-Mei sat in a wheelchair. Sing Sing drove to the design company. Without an umbrella he awkwardly pounded on the door. Kwai Lun-Mei answered in her wheelchair. During a bad take, the crew immediately fixed them up and dried them completely. Charlie was not sloppy at all during the shoot. Not only was she after perfection but also took care of the actor's actual condition. * (2012/06/09) Working on his second micro movie, Pakho Chau just worked on a goyeah.com micro movie. Pakho felt that this job was completely different from movies that everyone saw on the silver screen because micro movies had to tell the entire story in 10 minutes or so, like shrinking a movie down. To directors, writers and even actors it was extremely difficult. This time Pakho would connect the stories of six different girls, including "note girl", "bubble wrap girl", "Miss Highlighter", "TB Buddy" and "Miss Micro Movie". Different female leads would play friends and young sisters around Pakho. Was Pakho who has always had a healthy image afraid that playing such jerks would affect him? Pakho did not mind at all because he felt that now viewers very clearly knows that in the film he is only playing a character. At the same time it would not affect his other jobs. He joked, "If I play a killer should I kill someone? I don't mind how the character is and how people see me." Do his numerous romantic characters in micro movies and even movies represent his view on love? Pakho admitted, "In my romantic view the result is the most important. I want marriage and children. I want to have my own family so I wouldn't date casually. Maybe you would feel I am very practical about love. Although before dating I wouldn't know how she thinks and whether she would see me as someone she would marry, we communicate. Because when I look for the other half I want her to be mature and love to communicate with me, it really is very hard to communicate with girls who are younger than me. Thus I don't mind finding a girl who is older than me. Now I am so busy with work that I don't have enough time to be with the other half. If I have a girlfriend now, she also has to be extremely understanding." * (2012/06/08) The Media Asia film MOTORWAY (CHEH SAU) will be released on June 21 in Hong Kong and the Mainland simultaneously. The 2012 Locarno International Film Festival received this film's European premiere right. MOTORWAY will be screened in Locarno's largest Piazza Grande, the venue could occupy 10,000 viewers. Soi Cheang Bo Shui, Anthony Wong Chau Sun, Shawn Yue Man Lok were very excited. They said that they have never watched a movie with 10,000 people and wanted to try it; yet because they will be working in August, they for now cannot confirm whether they will be able to meet the audience in Switzerland. 70% of the film are car races and chases that took over several dozen cars to complete. The actor who drove the most was Yue Man Lok. In the film 80% of his time was in the car. Wong Chau Sun joked that he was very lucky that he did not have to drive because he was not interested in cars. Lok Jai on the other hand loved cars and thus director Cheang Bo Shui arranging this character for him made him very happy. Yue Man Lok said that at first before he read the script, the director said him that his character was a cop and he was very disappointed. He thought, "Police again?" Later when he realized that actually he would be an invisible driver, he was rather interested. He said that men love cars just like women love diamond. They would be loyal to the end, perhaps it came from the desire for control. Lok Jai personally performed most of car scenes in the film. He wanted the audience to experience the highest sense of realism, which gave director Cheang Bo Shui a big headache. In case of accident he not only would have to worry about actors but also the cars. If the cars were totaled, he had to immediately call someone for a replacement and the production cost would increase. The two car race on the Kennedy Town Pier even had a martial art duel feel. The director asked for two cars to brutally crash to add to the excitement in order to achieve the bumper car effect with real cars. Lok Jai also was hurt during this scene, luckily it was only superficial. The director however was scared half to death. * (2012/06/08) Angelababy and Mark Chao (Chiu Yau Ting) two nights ago attended the FIRST TIME premiere in Taiwan. Aside from the leads, Chao Shu-Hai and Cindy Yen (Yuen Wing Lam) also attended. Baby's two "new flames" Ko Chen-Tung and director Giddens Ko also supported her in person. Baby earlier became good friend with Ko Chen-Tung after working together on their new film TOGETHER. Director Giddens Ko saw Baby as YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE goddess. After they watched the film, they could not wait to advertise the film, saying that FIRST TIME and YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE were both movies that were romantic to the end. At the premiere, as soon as the actors stepped on the red carpet fans immediately shrieked. In the film Chiu Yau Ting constantly rode a bicycle to take Angelababy around. In order to bring back this romantic scene, the event found a bicycle. They made a variety of intimate poses on the bicycles. Fans screamed, "They are too beautiful." On this rare reunion of the four, they even talked about the production. Chao Shu-Hai and Chiu Yau Ting played father and son for the first time. He joked that on and off screen they could not be separated as they were like father and son. Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun)'s junior colleague Yuen Wing Lam not only wrote the theme song for the movie but also participated in the performance. Her poor Chinese caused a lot of comedy, even Chiu Yau Ting could not help but laugh at her. Director Han Yan praised Angelababy as the counterfeit of the female lead. In order to play the character well, she was all bruised from practices for a dance scene. Baby said that for this film she gave a lot. The film company also made four cakes with the film's title so the four actors could decorate the cakes with their idea of the sweet taste of first love and again campaigned with the Taiwan viewers. * (2012/06/07) The KEKEXILI and CITY OF LIFE AND DEATH director Lu Chuan directed Emperor new film THE LAST SUPPER (WONG JI SING YIN) starred Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho), Liu Ye, Chang Chen, Qin Lan. Yesterday lead actor Ng Yin Cho as Xiang Yu in a "hegemon armor" costume still was unveiled for the first. Ng Yin Cho wore the around 40 pounds Xiang Yu "hegemon armor". Reportedly the entire armor was completely hand made, from inside out it followed strict orders and based on recovered heritage standards. Produced in six layers, when Ng Yin Cho put it on he only had a pair of shorts. The outermost layer had a soft leather and a heavy armor layer. The heavy armor was made from gold plated bronze and was particularly precious. Ng Yin Cho at first did not know that he had to appear in the armor, thus when the "hegemon armor" frightened him during the costume fitting. The armor's complex design made him suffer. The outdoor location temperature reached 40 degrees Celsius. He even had action scenes. Thus he joked, "Every time as soon as the director yelled cut, everyone fought to remove their costumes. Everyone sweat out at least 2 liters." Later Ng Yin Cho decided to work out everyday to handle the physical demands that the shoot required. During the shoot many on and off camera personnel collapsed due to heat stroke, Ng Yin Cho was able to handle it at will. Playing Xiang Yu's concubine Consort Yu, He Dujuan spent 2 full hours to complete a scene in which she put the armor on Xiang Yu. She said that being able to dress the man she loved into a mighty general truly felt like quite an achievement. She was very able to experience the love between the Hegemon-King of Western Chu and Consort Yu. Director Lu Chuan said that THE LAST SUPPER hopefully would be able to stick to a type of "return to actual history" realistic attitude. "We hope viewers will be able to experience historical visuals with a solid sense of time, we also hope to prove one point that history should be worth respecting." * (2012/06/07) The film LAN KWAI FONG 2 (HEI OI YEH PO 2) two nights ago held its wrap banquet. Director Wilson Chin Kwok Wai earlier was caught with "pseudo model" Pak Wan in Singapore. Wilson and rumored girlfriend Calinda Chan Yuen Wai ran right into each other. Wilson as usual denied everything and appeared awkward in front of Chan Yuen Wai. The media had to beg him several times before he reluctantly pulled other actors to be in a photo with him and his girlfriend. He joked that he was an idol and declined to publicize his romance. The cast appeared, including Kelvin Kwan Chor Yiu, Shiga Lin Si Nga, "Ma Model" Mia, Chrissie Chau Sau Na's boyfriend Avis and others. The "pseudo models" all "pushed up" for attention. The always lucky with the ladies director Chin Kwok Wai earlier was caught with Pak Wan while shooting BATTLE OF THE SENSES in Singapore. Two nights ago Wilson was prepared. "Just one? Come on! Actually eight monsters were all in my room every night!" He joked about how tough it was to fight one against eight and revealed that every night the monsters came over to eat his room service. When they were broke they would come over to Wilson's room to make calls. Wilson appeared to be relaxed by himself, but after his rumored girlfriend Chan Yuen Wai was dragged into the interview, Wilson appeared to be flushed and shy. He reiterated that they were not dating. She was asked about her rumored boyfriend's "room incident". "If that girl was truly caught, that's good for him. I would wish him well!" Chan Yuen Wai asked him to remember to invite him to his wedding and obviously gave him a vote of confidence. Reporters joked that Wilson refused to recognize his girlfriend. Wilson mischievously said, "I plan to move to the front of the camera later, why would an idol publicize his romance?" Later he was asked to pose for a photo with Chan Yuen Wai, but he dragged in Mia. "Ma Model" Mia two nights ago said that this was her film so she "pushed up" out of respect. She revealed that she was thinner so her clothes was a little lower. She has already taken the full precautions and had tapes 360 degrees around. Speaking of her passionate bed scene with Chau Sau Na's boyfriend Avis, Mia thus was invited to DJ with Avis in many Mainland night spots. However, she said, "Let him first improve his DJ skills first! (Are you afraid of Sister Na being mad at your couple money grabbing?) No! We are very well defined. Last time he was said to go to my home he walked me to the elevator door and not to my door like a gentleman." In addition, Lin Si Nga arrived late. Since her intimate photo incident she promoted the film for the first time. She said that her spirit has improved and work has been scheduled until August. She said, "My workload has never been reduced." Her intimate photos seemed to have helped with film promotions. Lin Si Nga said, "The character in the film is different from me and isn't related. I have never been a rich girl or had any abortion." * (2012/06/07) Miriam Yeung Chin Wa two days ago gave birth. Her husband Real Ting Chi Ko has been with his wife at the hospital. Yesterday Chin Wa's parents and Ting Chi Ko's mother and grandmother all visited the grandson. Ting Chi Ko and his mother have already named the baby after Chelsea's handsome soccer star Torres but no Chinese name yet. Chin Wa due to pain still has not been able to leave the bed yet, but she has attempted breast feeding. Yesterday morning around 20 to 30 reporters waited outside the hospital. around 1PM, Ting Chi Ko's mother, grandmother and Chin Wa's parents arrived. Chin Wa's father held reporters' congratulations and was all smiles. He thanked the reporters in return but he said that he still has not seen his grandson yet. The elders stayed at the hospital for a hour. Chin Wa's parents left first. They said that their grandson resembled both parents but they did not have a chance to hold the baby yet. As for Chin Wa, they said that she was great and thanked the media for their concern. Later, Ting Chi Ko's mother and grandmother also left the hospital. They both smiled very happily. Have their held the baby? Ting Ko Chi's grandmother was caught off guard somewhat. Ting Chi Ko's mother replied, "Not yet." Would she reward her daughter in law? Mother Ting only said that she was very happy. When asked about the baby's name, she said to ask her son. Yeung Chin Wa's record company spokesperson said that the baby's English name would be Torres like Chelsea's handsome soccer star. The name came from Ting Chi Ko and his mother. The Chinese name has not been set yet. Chin Wa's Cesarean section wound still hurt so yesterday she was still in bed. Yet Chin Wa said that holding her son felt very special. Yesterday she also tried breast feeding, but Chin Wa joked that she did not know whether her son was able to suck any. She would try hard to feed him. The spokesperson also said that the baby like his mother Chin Wa liked to sing and was very cute. Chin Wa and Ting Chi Ko were very attentive, Chin Wa's assistant yesterday broken three big boxes of cakes and beverages to reporters outside the hospital. Due to the heat, the hospital crew also provided water and fans for the media outside. * (2012/06/07) Jaycee Chan (Fong Cho Ming) succeeded his father for the first time as he worked on the new Taiwan director Chang Hsun-Wei's new action comedy DOUBLE TROUBLE (BO DOH SEUNG HUNG). Two nights ago a premiere was held in Beijing. Father Jackie Chan made an exception and personally appeared on the red carpet to cheer on his son Cho Ming. He also gave Cho Ming barley, a metaphor for the film to be a big hit. Cho Ming smartly went on one knee to accept his Old Man's gift. He said, "I kept thinking he is lacking here and there. He isn't as hard working as me, as determined as me. Since I felt he isn't as good as me in anything, if he achieved a score of 80, I would like him to get 100." Jackie Chan pointed out that now he has begun to encourage his son. "Many people thus yelled at me, saying that Cho Ming has already done very well. I shouldn't keep scolding him. When I got home, I would get yelled at (Joan Lin) too, blaming me for being like that. When I was making THE KARATE KID, how Will Smith treated his son made him realize that I had to change my old way of thinking. From now on, I will say Fong Cho Ming is the best." However, Jackie Chan on the stage still could not help but strictly "criticized" Cho Ming. When he heard his son shedding tears after an injury on the set, he repeatedly said that he was too shameful. Cho Ming personally performed almost all the stunts in the film. Director Chang Hsun-Wei complimented how much risk he took on numerous occasions. Jackie Chan said, " After seeing the film in Cannes I was very pleased, I thought from now on I wouldn't make this type of big action films and leave it to Siu Fong Ji. POLICE STORY 6 or what, I would leave them all to him. I will just make 2 YOUNG 2 (JO SHOOK 2), BREAK UP CLUB 2 (FUN SAU SHUET OI NEI 2)." Jackie Chan even said that Joan Lin (Lam Fung Giu) kept reminding him about the event at night since they woke up. He also said in the end, "Thank you everyone for supporting Fong Cho Ming. You are the best! I said that for his mother." As for the sudden support and praise from his father, Cho Ming said that he was very scared. He joked, "Suddenly hearing such praise I was highly frightened. Just now on stage my heart beat very well." Cho Ming joked that he did not know actually Mama's words were so useful. yet he would not make a film as dangerous as POLICE STORY. He believed that his Old Man was just joking and promoting the film. * (2012/06/07) The Raymond Wong Pak Ming produced, Vincent Kok Tak Siu directed, Ronald Cheng Chung Kei, Teresa Mo Shun Kwan, Raymond Lam Fung, Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam), Karena Ng Chin Yu and Hai Qing starred film NAM YUN YU YI FOK (MEN ARE LIKE CLOTHES) earlier held a press conference in Hengzhou. The film would shoot on location in Hong Kong and Hengzhou and be scheduled for a National Day holiday release. In the film Mo Shun Kwan, Ng Chin yu and Hung Doi Lam played underwear and fashion designers. In order to get the god class designer Hai Qing's advice, the trio along with Cheng Chung Kei, Lam Fung and Wong Pak Ming went to Hengzhou to look for Hai Qing. To coordinate with the fashion design theme, the event yesterday arranged for Wong Pak Ming, Cheng Chung Kei and Lam Fung to walk the catwalk at the press conference. Cheng Chung Kei said that with just one tee shirt he could beat Lam Fung. "I may not be able to beat Ah Fung in chok, but now that I am a father I have a group of baby age fans!" Lam Fung also joked, "I will use my trump card and make his daughter switch teams!" Although they did their best, they seemingly were unable to win the actresses over. Sister Mo joked that it had to be fixed. "Actually Ah Fung is handsome, Cheng Chung Kei is cute, but Brother Pak Ming is our boss. He gave us sisters a living, of course he is the best!" Lynn originally wanted to choose Boss Wong, but in the film Lam Fung was her boyfriend so in the end she still chose Lam Fung. Cheng Chung Kei though joked, "You of course would choose (Aaron) Kwok Fu Sing! Haha!" Lynn only awkwardly laughed. Finally, the event gave an extra large pair of golden boxers to Wong Pak Ming. [ BLAH OF THE WEEK ] Columns, Reviews, Interviews 1. SING TAO DAILY, JUNE 11 2012 LAU CHING WAN AND DANNY PANG LEAD INTO A SCHEME In the beginning of the year, the Derek Yee Tung Sing produced new film THE BULLET VANISHES (SIU SUT DIK JI DAN) began production in Shanghai. The cast included the first collaboration of Lau Ching Wan and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung. Yee Tung Sing revealed that this new team up was completely because he told Tse Ting Fung that Lau Ching Wan was already here would you come? Finally as soon as he heard he rapidly agreed. Lau Ching Wan in the industry has such mesmerizing charm. Not only actors want to work with him, even directors have the itch. Danny Pang Fat earlier stated that he wanted to work with Lau Ching Wan, then he watched THE MAD DETECTIVE (SUN TAM) and thought that the spirit of his detective performance had an excessive charm. Thus he spent a long time to write FAIRY TALE KILLER (JUI HUNG), this fairy tale suspense cross over script to attract Ching Wan. Finally not only this collaboration but their spark even extended to July or August this year with his older brother Oxide Pang Shun as the Pang Brothers will work with Ching Wan and Louis Koo Tin Lok on the 3D firefighter film INFERNO (TOH CHOOK SUN TIN). Obviously Ching Wan's acting has seeped into people's minds and not just the Hong Kong Film Award voters' long ago. - PATRICK FAIRY TALE KILLER Synopsis One day, a man named Jun arrives in a police station. With severe stuttering he reports to the officer on duty that he is turning himself in for murder. The half suspicious police takes Jun's statement and sends officers to investigate and later discover that Jun's supposed victims are alive and well. The police thinks he is mentally ill and treats the case like a prank. Thus after taking down his contact information he is released. Soon after, a murder takes place in Han's jurisdiction. The victim is identified to be the person who Jun earlier claims to have killed. As Han prepared to bring a team to arrest him, his home is already left emptied except for many fairy tale books. Four of which has horrifying images drawn on them. Han suspects a series of murders will take place and hurries after any trace of Jun to save the innocent victims. (RELEASE DATE: May 10) T: TOUCH L: Lau Ching Wan P: Danny Pang Fat Did you Do Your Homework? Ching Wan on screen has his unique humor. In reality he warms up slowly and would not suddenly take charge or become excited out of the blue. Instead, the Pang Brothers, both the older Shun and younger Fat, have always been humorous. As soon as they open their mouth it is a punch (line), perfect to warm up the mood for the interview. T: When did you two first notice each other's work? P: Many years ago a reporter asked that before, was that you? I was asked which actor I would like to work with the most, at the time I already answered Lau Ching Wan. T: It wasn't me! (P: Have you read that report?) No! (P: Did you do your homework?) You have done so many interviews, how can I read them all? P: Actually I have known Ching Wan for awhile, only he doesn't know me, haha......many years ago there was something something (E: POLICE CADET?) Of course not! Even earlier! L: POLICE CADET is already very early! P: That Wai Ka Fai one? (T: THE GREED OF MEN?) Yes! L: POLICE CADE was much earlier, Fit Lo, he was the second role with a name in my career. T: Did you do your homework? P: He has too many roles! Haha......actually in one scene (Yammie) Nam Kit Ying threw his clothes out the door to force him to act. Then he personally said why he would rather be lazy all his life, which really made me cry. T: Ching Wan when did you notice Ah Fat or the Brothers' work? L: In the very beginning someone told me that a director really wanted to work with me. Then I watched their work. (P: See! He did his homework.) The most memorable actually was one of the film trailers. It was very scary, the visual was very shockingly handled. Yet I don't remember which one it was. P: It's doesn't matter, it's still the line: "Too many, I don't remember!" Haha...... L: I rarely make this type of heavy on the visual sensory films, so I thought if I work with him what would it be like? This is a rather interesting chemical reaction. Telling Me To Wear a Bra? Are You Crazy! When you want to work with someone, you naturally notice his every move. Later Pang Fat noticed that Ching Wan for awhile kept making comedies, the more he made the further he was from his beloved "Ching Wan" mode. Yet he firmly believed that Ching Wan must have done so for a reason, and it must be like in the wuxia world as he was training for something special. T: How did Lau Ching Wan's performance attract you? P: I paid the most attention to him during a period, who knows what happened, when he just made comedy films. I have recognized him as the "real deal" long ago, why would he specifically make comedy? And even one after another. Although they were entertaining too, but I deeply believed that comedy was not he excelled the most in. He was certainly hiding something. Unexpectedly he blew out THE MAD DETECTIVE (SUN TAM)! On this film, this writer was extreme, the maker was extreme, the actor was extreme, truly in one hand it pulled out what Ching Wan was hiding for all those years. T: Is the director's understanding about why you kept making comedy right? L: Actually it was pretty close. It was like this. Before making this pile of comedy, I also made a pile of drama to the point that I began to lose direction. Yet if you asked me at the time what I wanted to try? I didn't know either, until I received a script called LA BRASSIERE (JUET SAI HO BRA). Before confirming the director and I talked about a scene in which I had to wear a bra. At the time I very graciously answered I would consider it. Then I went back and thought, "Is he crazy? I am wearing a bra? Me!" Then I decided to make it! Because first I like the title, second, what is called something different? When you feel something is the best, even what you make is the best it wouldn't be called different! The definition of different is doing something that you wouldn't do even if your life is threaten, like wearing a bra. I was used to making serious roles, suddenly I went to wear a bra? So I had to thank Chan Hing Ka (LA BRASSIERE's director) for having the gut to ask me to make this type of movies. Finally in the same year with this film I won the Film Critic Society Best Actor. T: Did this award inspire you? L: I understood one thing from it. When an actor play a role he has to open himself up. Actually I knew this long ago but it was easier said than done. My habit is once I started making this genre I would keep making it, because I am very certain that I would suddenly wouldn't want to make comedy anymore one day. Then I would pull out and do something else. When I made this pile of comedy, indeed I saved up something. This scene comforted Ching Wan the most at the night of the permiere, when friends around him were rolling on the floor laughing. Win Or Lose, I Don't Ask Why! At the past Hong Kong Film Award, Lau Ching Wan again lost among cheers and missed the chance to win another Best Actor. The next day newspapers accused him of turning dark right at the moment of the announcement, but actually he still was himself. Win or lose to him had no reason at all, so no explanation was needed. T: Was it as Ah Fat said, THE MAD DETECTIVE released certain potential inside you all at once? L: Actually before making THE MAD DETECTIVE I also had MY NAME IS FAME (NGOR YIU SING MING), which was a turning point. A drama with character experience, this characer was able to take the opinions that I have accumulated over the years into it. After this performance then I made THE MAD DETECTIVE. P: I told Ching Wan, even if you mind I had to say it, if it wasn't because you just won the Best Actor the year before (2006) with MY NAME IS FAME, how can THE MAD DETECTIVE possibly not be a Best Actor work? The problem was did the event have the guts to continue to give you one more Best Actor! (T: Completely agree!) L: Actually I really like MY NAME IS FAME, many felt that I shouldn't have won Best Actor with it. Yet the problem was even when I lost I didn't ask why, when I won I wouldn't ask either. The reasoning was the same! THE MAD DETECTIVE was good actually because the script was good, the director was good, they already covered Lau Ching Wan tightly. Another actor would have performed just as successfully. P: You still had to perform well, why did everyone feel THE MAD DETECTIVE was entertaining? Because Wai Ka Fai was ble to writing a side of Lau Ching Wan that no one has ever seen. The character and the real person's neurosis seemed to be connected. T: Then as you were waiting for Lau Ching Wan, were you able to imagine that this was the side that he blew out? P: I didn't! I wasn't so high, after watching THE MAD DETECTIVE it felt great. It was able to use so much of the actor, it was very strong! T: With a precedence, FAIRY TALE KILLER is another investigation with Lau Ching Wan. How did you handle it? P: They are completely different. On day one when we talked about the script, I told Ching Wan that this character wasn't THE MAD DETECTIVE. Very early on I already gave a mutual understanding for everyone to understand the film's direction. Ching Wan was so professional that later in the shoot when he picked up the gun, this was the only scene in the entire film in which he held a gun, his reaction at the time was "Is it too THE MAD DETECTIVE?" He truly remembered my direction, an actor who truly communicates with you. T: Then in the end did you change the story to not use a gun? P: So I answered, "When we get to this point, it would be the ending. We can be a little 'MAD DETECTIVE' hahahaha......" L: A little Mad! THE MAD DETECTIVE's gun fight finale and the FAIRY TALE KILLER's ending indeed had a little similarity from the stills alone. In Sheep Skin or In Wolf Skin? Their new film FAIRY TALE KILLER is about a killer who uses many fairy tale stories to kill, revealing someone who is gentle as sheep actually can be very wolf like inside and prepare to suddenly attack at any time. T: This character in order to resolve the case is willing to do anything, how do you feel about this character? L: I like this character, in particular his relationship with his family. Someone who you feel is familiar, after you personally come in contact, actually is not what you imagine. This point touched me. Like being an actor, you see how Lau Ching Wan act, the real me may be hitting my wife at home everyday? I also like the conflict between him and his family. His son unfortunately suffers from autism, which is not something that every parents can handle. This is a very real human nature problem. T: Before taking the role, have you heard the original fairy tale story was this cruel? L: I have heard about it but never really paid attention. The original fairy tales were full of violence and blood, then why ours were another matter? Because Disney wanted to make cartoons so it cleaned up the original. Like THE ROMANCE OF THREE KINGDOMS's Liu, Guan and Zhang, everyone really like to watch their clear cut personalities but in history what were they like? It was no longer important. You can't even make a change. As soon as you change it back to real personality, everyone instead doesn't feel right. T: Did the director explain the reason for the cruelty in the fairy tale in the film? P: I didn't specifically explain, but as long as you finish watching this film, then open one of the fairy tale books at home and read it from my character's perspective, you naturally don't want to read on. It truly is very horrifying! THE WOLF AND THE SEVEN LAMBS, it's crazy! Cutting open the wolf then putting in seven rocks, sewing it back up and then throwing it into the water to let it drown. The 7 lambs then very happily dance in a circle and applaud, when you hear it you would feel horrifying. Actually this story wants to say that everyone can be a lamb but also the wolf. The problem is what you are facing? When you face a big group of enemies, in order to survive you have to become a wolf. This entire film keeps on dropping hints. Don't think that the Chinese title means it is a search for the murderer. You have to know that the title went through a lot of trouble. Ultimately the first scene of this movie has already told you that the killer is Wang Baoqiang. Everyone is chasing whether Lau Ching Wan is a lamb or a wolf, in the end whether he can return to be a lamb? 2. APPLE DAILY, JUNE 10 2012, ELECTRIC FILM ROAD BABY RELIVES FIRST LOVE LEMON CANDY Yet another C'EST LA VIE MON CHERI (SUN BUT LIU CHING) style idea: the female lead has terminal illness, the male lead falls until death do they part. Only Anita Yuen Wing Yi has become Angelababy Yeung Wing and Lau Ching Wan has become Mark Chao (Chiu Yau Ting), but the entire matter has become drastically different. The reliance on young alone not to mention looks is already a completely different tune. In terms of popularity they are idols with the support of a group of otakus and young girls. Even Baby herself says that during the shoot she has a type of first love sweet yet sour feeling. Ultimately women would only love men who would make them cry, and men would only like women who make them smile. - HO WAI SI Yeung Wing turns from a pseudo model into an artist. In her new film FIRST TIME she falls in love with Chiu Yau Ting. During the interview she says that thus she is reminded of her first love. She says, "He was one year ahead of me in school, but we didn't know each other at all. At the time everyday I told myself, if I didn't ask what his name was I would give up on him. Yet everyday I wouldn't dare. Sometimes I could feel him looking at me, like being in the same space with him, I would be very nervous and very excited. One day, I passed by his classroom. He ran out and asked me for my name. That moment was truly very sweet, but we only went out twice before he went to Japan. After six or seven years, we saw each other in Japan but the feeling was already different. To me it was like putting an end to this story." Kung Fu Girl Turns Into Herbal Medicine Pot Baby says that when she received the script she felt the feeling of first love returning to her, but she was worried. She says, "After reading the script, I feel it is a very tragic story. I don't know whether my mood would be very heavy and very unpleasant. A month before the shoot began, the director came to me and told me to prepare properly." Since her characters have always been happy, for her to play a sadder and more sentimental terminally ill young girl she needs more time to grasp. She says, "The funniest is before this movie I was working on a kung fu film. At the time I played a heroine and was very tough. I turned around and already I had to become a fragile girl. Thus everyday at work I had to remind myself. I was very gentle, a good woman." Due to her lack of production experience, this adjustment period lasted for awhile. In the film Baby and Chiu Yau Ting have many memorable scenes. Baby says, "In the film I have many memorable events, quite a virtually real romantic feel. I don't know if it counts or not. With first love a lot feel fresh because this feeling always happens just once. My first love is very sour, like a piece of lemon candy. At first it is so sour that you can want to try, but then it turns very sweet." Film Production Interrupts Troubles Since working on her first film HOT SUMMER DAYS (CHUEN SING YIT LUEN YIT LAT LAT), she discovers that life is just not limited to pretty clothes and pretty make up work. She admits, "Earlier even if someone asked me if I was interested in making movies I would say I had no interest. I just wanted to be in pretty make up and pretty clothes everyday and get paid. Yet after I finished HOT SUMMER DAYS, I felt I really wanted to be a good actor. Maybe at the time Hong Kong had a lot that troubled me, like gossip. I felt a lot of pressure. Yet the film production made me into another person, like interrupting a lot of trouble, entertaining and enjoying another process. Then I talked with the company. My jobs now are all for my dream, no matter how tough it is it is worth it." Chiu Yau Ting Protects Older Woman Younger Man Romance Chiu Yau Ting with the Taiwan film MONGA became recognizable. Earlier he worked with his five year senior Gao Yuanyuan on the film CAUGHT IN THE WEB and set off romantic spark as they developed an older woman younger man relationship. Earlier Chiu Yau Ting came to Hong Kong to promote with baby. Chiu Yau Ting admitted that during the shoot he and Baby had a romantic electrocution feeling. He stressed that it was only limited in the movie, trying his best to protect the budding romance with Gao Yuanyuan. He said, "Off camera Baby and I have a brother like relationship." As for the two kiss scenes in the film, although they were not passionate Chiu Yau Ting out of respect for Baby stated of course that before hand he would brush his teeth and make hygienic preparations. Still a new actor in the film industry, Chiu Yau Ting could not help but be nervous during intimate scenes. He said, "At first the kiss scene indeed was somewhat awkward, but as the guy I had to try to pretend to be relaxed!" Getting Slapped At Father's Hands Chiu Yau Ting's father Chao Shu-Hai is a famous Taiwan actor. They worked together in the film for the first time to play father and son. Working with his father, he felt pressure not matter what. He said, "Papa didn't give me any special instruction on how to perform. Instead in the film he had to slap me. At first he only pretended but it didn't feel right. I suggested for him to hit for real and got a great result. This was the first time he hit me because Papa spoiled us since we were little and never used physical punishment." Chiu Yau Ting said that although his father slapped him this time, to him it wsa a memorable experience. Coming from an artist family, Chiu Yau Ting was in love with fellow actress Gao Yuanyuan. He said, "I don't mind 'older woman younger man romance' at all. I feel that since we are willing to start this relationship, we can withstand that." Reportedly his father was not optimistic about his son's development with Gao Yuanyuan. Chiu Yau Ting clarified, "It's just a rumor. Papa is very understanding. In addition we are out in the open." - CHEUNG CHUN MING Synopsis: Inspirational Love Spark The film FIRST TIME is about a girl Sung Si Kiu who has a hereditary disease since she was little and lives with her mother Cheng Ching. One day Sung Si Kiu and high school classmate Kung Ning reunite and start a sweet first love. Si Kiu is inspired to pursue her dream and continue to dance, despite the threat to her life. Yet, as they grow closer, Sung Si Kiu discovers that Kung Ning seems to be hiding some secret from her. Whenever Sung Si Kiu tries to find out, Kung Ning is always determined to shut her out. When Si Kiu dances her final dance, one story ends and another story begins. An even greater secret is still hidden inside the secret. 3. TA KUNG PAO, JUNE 10 2012, FILM AND TELEVISION TRAVERSAL SILENCED UNVEILS THE CRUEL TRUTH In the Japanese film I WISH Koichi and Ryonosuke despite their parents' separation still can grow up healthily under the care of their single parent, but in the Korean film SILENCED the speech and hearing impaired children who come from broken homes or even orphaned are taken into a boarding school. They think they are under protection, but actually the warmth is only superficial. In exchange during their growth they are violated and faced violent treatments from the headmaster, the dean and some teachers. Based on a true story, SILENCED truly makes people angrier and angrier as they watch not only due to those beastly culprits' sickening behavior under the guise of "educational workers" but also because of their (the headmaster and the dean twins) status and stature in the community and in the church, the government rewards them because it thinks that they are using money for charity (in the film they can be seen as using money to resolve problems). Thus, we see the enormous power of those from the church, financial group and "intellectuals" that can turn black into white and truth into falsity. Memorable in the film is the high emotions of the church members in court, in particular the shrew wife of the headmaster's bossy demeanor. Director Hwang Dong-Hyuk uses these people's acts to encourage viewers' dislike for them. With the revelation of official and police corruptions and the case verdict later in the story, the grievances of the abused children pushed the film to a boiling point and made the injustice and shock of this scandal stand out. Thus, the scene in which male lead Gong Yoo (Kang In-Ho) raises his head to look at the words at the gates of the court becomes extremely ironic. The film's handling may be very melodramatic, especially with its interpretation of how the children are abused. Yet when we learn about their tragic encounters of the years in reality and how their situation worsen after the legal process, I instead feel the film touches too little on the souls of these abused children. More could be told in contrast so the audience can have a deeper experience. Kang In-Ho changes from his usual sunshine and tenderness to play a righteous teacher who runs around for the abused handicapped students. He not only does not live up to his mother's expectation but also loses his teaching job in the end. His performance has fire in a reserved manner and a great performance with his interaction with Seo Yoo-Jin, which is worthy of praise. - CHUI HIU 4. TA KUNG PAO, JUNE 10 2012, LIGHT SHADOW PATH THE OPPORTUNITY TO PASS THROUGH THE MAINLAND GATES CANNOT BE MISSED Film production grounds in Hong Kong is an important step in Hong Kong film development, but it does not mean that Hong Kong film should only value the Hong Kong market. Over the years, Hong Kong film has relied on the world's Chinese market to survive. Thus the Chief Executive elect Leung Chun-Ying after meeting members of the film industry mentioned using the Closer Economic Partnership Accord to strength the competitiveness of Hong Kong film in the Mainland market. Some in the industry have different opinions about exploring the market, thinking that the local market should be improved first. Their argument is that each time Hong Kong film "thrived", it first received the Hong Kong audience's support. By extension it is because the outside market has not limited the outside market, meaning that valuing markets outside the domestic is limiting creativity and does not receive the local audience support. Two authentic Hong Kong films (although they are also co-productions) recently performed well and were well received. A SIMPLE LIFE (TOH JEH)'s box office was 26 million while LOVE IN THE BUFF (CHUN GIU YU JI MING)'s was 27 million. If both films were unable to be released in the Mainland, they definitely would have lost almost half that. Years ago the glorious GALLANTS (DA LUI TOI) was raved in Hong Kong. With only 3 million at box office it could not break even. If a movie only focuses on the Hong Kong market, investors would certainly lose money and film would become an industry that does not work. The influence that the Mainland market opening up to Hong Kong film should be positive. As for the co-production regulation restrictions they are inconvenient but they are not as severed as some have made them out to be. Commentators often say due to the restrictions co-productions become neither fish nor fowl and Hong Kong viewers cast them away. The fact is no Hong Kong film that is neither fish nor fowl has been a big Mainland hit but not popular in Hong Kong. In general with movies that are popular in both places the box office ratio is 10 to 1. For example the two OVERHEARD (SIT TING FUNG WON) had a ratio of 200 million to about 20 million. Movies that have 20 times difference between the Mainland and Hong Kong box office were obviously not popular in Hong Kong and performed well in the Mainland. These movies mostly had big stars. CONFUCIUS and WU XIA were this type. The reason was the audience groups between the two places were different and the Mainland population far exceeded Hong Kong's. After almost two months in release, TITANIC 3D in the Mainland has already made over 1 billion -- multiples of the U.S. box office that opened the eyes of the U.S. film industry. Hollywood films' evaluation of the China market is already drastically different from years ago, as they think that the China market opportunity not only has great potential but also a can't missed opportunity. We are a part of China. If we do not properly grasp the opportunity in front of us and think of ways of strengthening competitiveness in the Mainland market, we would miss a great opportunity. Friends in the industry should choose wisely so the Hong Kong film industry can continue on. - TIN LIK [ In Production Now/Soon ] MY SASSY HUBBY Can : Ngor Lo Por Ng Gau Ching 2 Ngor Lo Gung Ng Sun Sing Lit : My Old Lady Is Under Weight 2: My Hubby Is Out Of His Nature Dior Cheng Yi Kin, Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin, Joyce Cheng Yun Yi, Wylie Chiu Shek Chi, Izz Xu (Tsui Ching Hei) LACUNA Can : Jui Hau Yut Yeh Lit : One Night After Drinking d. The floodgates opened and nobility clashed with peasants, royalty fell for servants, and everyone somehow stumbled across their soulmates amidst the wildest, most untamed eras of Korean history. So prepare yourself for a healthy dose of action, plenty of gut-busting comedy, and all the swoon-inducing, star-crossed lovers you can possibly take as we present New York City with a bouquet of Korea’s most epic romances! Tuesday, JUNE 19, 2012 @ 7pm THE SWORD WITH NO NAME (2009) Holy blockbusters! A big hit at the Korean box office, Sword is the epitome of posh, luscious, decadent period filmmaking. Based on the real life Empress Myeongseong, it tells her story through the eyes of a bounty hunter who becomes her bodyguard (Cho Seung-Woo, now doing his mandatory military service). She tries to stand up to Russian and Japanese intervention in 19th Century Korea and the results are a series of luxurious, CGI-enhanced action scenes alternating with carefully calibrated and eye-meltingly colorful scenes of court life, making this movie feel like an unholy mix of Merchant-Ivory and The Matrix. --- [ WHAT IS YOUR CHAFFING EDITOR LISTENING TO ] WHAT HAVE YOU DONE G.E.M. http://youtu.be/bhK9xuWTnfo ---------------------- HK Top Ten Central hktopten@hotmail.com http://hktopten.orgfree.com | http://hktopten.blogspot.com
