Shu Qi in the film played two characters, a pair of twins who both fell for Yue Man Lok and into a immoral love triangle. Shu Qi in the film was vicious, gentle and sexy all in one. Earlier she admitted that making THE SECOND WOMAN absolutely was not easy, for a period she could not pull herself out. Shu Qi earlier posted a "shedding tear" photo online. She thought that eyes that were swollen from crying looked great. She said, "Eye drops can be used in crying scenes! Yet it has no way to reach the condition of red eyes and nose, so I still cry on my own." In the film she played twin sisters who both fell for Yue Man Lok's stage actor. She admitted that both characters tragically tortured her, as the older sister's voice and tone would come out suddenly through the younger sister. She could only discuss with the director to first finish one before shooting the other. Otherwise she could not perform. Shu Qi is a Golden Horse Award winning Best Actress and made many outstanding films. She pointed out that now good characters are fun characters. She would not deliberately think of any hardship or challenge for herself. Instead she wanted to play, so her movies did not have to be high technical. * (2012/02/08) ROMANCING IN THIN AIR (GO HOI BUT JI LUEN II) tomorrow will open in the Mainland and Hong Kong. Leads Sammi Cheng Sau Man and Louis Koo Tin Lok promoted in the Mainland, yesterday they attended the Guangdong premiere. Both were asked about family as Sammi fans held up "Mrs. Hui" signs. Reporters asked Sammi when she planned to wed. Sammi did not know how to respond and finally co-stars Goo Jai answered for her. At the premiere, Sammi fans held up a "Mrs. Hui" sign. Not only did they screamed Sammi but also kept screaming On Jai and Mrs. Hui. Sammi did not know whether to laugh or to cry. They also tried calligraphy on the stage and gave them to fans. Later during an interview a reporter suddenly asked when Sammi and On Jai will "close the sky roof" (wed), Sammi did not know how to respond, Goo Jai immediately helped out. "She said that her home doesn't have a sky roof." Later someone asked whether Sammi will perform a new concert and how she will spend Valentine's Day. Goo Jai again came to her rescue. "Let her eat first, she hasn't eaten in several years. It's such a shame." A fan suddenly screamed, "Spend it with Ox Tongue (Andy Hui Chi On)". Sammi laughed and said, "Next question please". Goo Jai in the film fell in love with his fan Sammi. In real life he often received love pleads from fans. He said, "In the past few years I chatted with us online and played games. They would reply to their letters but I would read the content first. Because some would call me hubby and would ask me to marry them, I don't know how to handle those. Improper handling would be rather severe." Sammi joked, "So far no one has called me the Old Man, the relationship is the average artist and fan one." * (2012/02/08) THE VIRAL FACTOR (YIK JIN) performed well as it already passed 20 million at the Hong Kong and Macau box office. "For my first Hong Kong audience appreciation event, it feels very fresh. Viewers and fans are enthusiastic and spread the joy throughout the venue, which I enjoyed. To raise my daughter for now I won't make Mainland movies so I don't have to be out for too long." * (2012/02/07) Michelle Yeoh (Yeung Chi King) has been busy with the film THE LADY promotion. Two nights ago she and director Luc Besson attended the premiere forum, after which Luc Besson and the producer left Hong Kong. Michelle yesterday attended a Baptist University forum with over 100 students in attendance. Because few students have seen the film, they did not have too many questions. Michelle could not help but say, "If you don't have anything to ask, then I am leaving." At the forum yesterday, a female student saw Michelle's speech scene in the film and was moved to tears. Michelle said that the scene required her to speak Burmese, she was very happy to be able to touch the audience; she even demonstrated a few lines of Burmese. A student asked what did Michelle and Aung San Suu Ki talk about when they met. She said that as soon as Aung San Suu Ki saw her she said, "My son said you look like me very much>" Michelle said that at the time she did not know how to respond, they just chatted. Michelle said that this film made her understand how to live, but wuxia film's spirit and attitude are also very important. She would continue to make wuxia films. * (2012/02/07) ROMANCING IN THIN AIR (GO HOI BUT JI LUEN II) two nights ago after its Beijing premiere went to Shanghai yesterday for the Lantern Festival premiere. Sammi and Goo Jai added a heart to a pair of flying wings ice sculpture. They also fed each other giant glutinous rice balls from Shanghai fans, which as soon as Goo Jai and Sammi saw they could not stop laughing. Humorous Goo Jai kept stuffing it toward Sammi's mouth, Sammi dodged left and right as she laughed. At the event Goo Jai was asked whether he would consider directing like he did in the film. He said that he has only shot his dog at home and his classmates. He never thought about directing. If in the future he will decide to direct, he will stop working for one or two years to study first since directing required a lot of knowledge. Speaking of the production, Goo Jai pointed out that the most memorable was carrying Sammi while running. He even had to sing. Sammi though had it the worst because she had to listen to him sing. Sammi praised Goo Jai's performance, he deliberately practiced before so the result was very decent. Sammi also said that her character actually was somewhat like her. If she believed in someone or something she would not easily change. * (2012/02/07) The Andy Lau Tak Wa, Zhang Jingchu, Lin Chiling, Dong Dawei starred DWELLING IN THE FUCHUN MOUNTAINS has already completed its Dubai shoot. This time the Dubai production team had several hundred people, 120 foreigners from over 27 nations and regions around the world. Thus their flights alone cost over 1 million RMB. The seven star class Burj Al Arab that declined over 40 film production requests from around the world opened up completely for the Chinese production. Turning down even MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4, why did Burj Al Arab accept a Chinese production this time? "Burj Al Arab and Burj Dubai both turned us down. We edited a trailer for them with the scenes that were shot in China, then they were convinced and permitted us to shoot there." The producer said. Shooting at the Burj Al Arba required passing three check points. 3 kilometers away from the hotel was the first check point with strict inspections of personnel numbers and identifications. Under such conditions, the team had to race against time for a record six location changes inside the hotel in one day. The production was already broken down into ten minute intervals and thus received the foreign team's high praises. * (2012/02/07) Vic Chou Yu Man played a father for the first time in the current release NEW PERFECT TWO. Jai Jai admitted that in reality he would like to be a husband and a father before age 40, but he could not accept a girlfriend with a child already. Jai Jai as an idol series actor thought switching to play a father for the first time was fun. He said, "This time can be considered a huge challenge, but Benny and I got along so well that we became good friends!" Jai Jai admitted that when he first met Benny he felt unnatural, but the director treated him and Benny well because he shot according to their moods. Jai Jai also praised his co-star as full of childlike innocence. He said, "I feel Benny isn't mature for his age, his conversations and responses have childlike innocence!" Jai Jai said that after completing this film he felt deeply that organizing the family was not easy. He said, "I tried it in the film and it was enough!" As for the opposite sex, he revealed that recently due to film promotion he asked co-star Mini Yang Mi to introduce women to him. Did he ask the soon to wed Ella Chen to introduce women? Jai Jai said, "Not yet! They both think that I was just saying, but I am very serious because my life circle is very small!" Was Jai Jai in a hurry to date? Jai Jai said, "People around me are very warm after they fall in love, their health is particularly good. Lately I constantly have the flu so I need the other half to help!" If his girlfriend had a child like in the film what would he do? Jai Jai said, "You scared me, I believe very rare people would be able to accept that. Maybe I have to get a DNA test!" Jai Jai admitted that he hoped that the other half would have filial piety, a simple life, but this type of people was very hard to find. As for contact with old flame Big S (Barbie Hsu), he said, "No!" Jai Jai hoped to be a father before 40 and joked that dragging it too long was not good. He also said, "When I was 19 I thought I should be a husband and a father at 25, but I didn't meet anyone ideal so I had no expectation. One day when I run into the right person I would get married and have children!" Would he like a son or a daughter? Jai Jai preferred a boy. Jai Jai said, "I can have more interaction with a boy, like smashing his butt would be fine. If it's a girl it's not too convenient unless I have a tomboy!" He also hoped to be able to have a chance to play a mentally ill character. He said, "If I can play a schizophrenic in a film that would be good!" * (2012/02/07) Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car due to mechanical failure had to suspend service for two months. Nick Cheung Ka Fai last year risked his life last year on the Ngong Ping 360 for his new film NIGHTFALL (DAI JUI BO). He deliberately violated rules in the clear cable cars as he jumped and opened fire as he tested the cable car safety limits. His mad behavior scared Simon Yam Tat Wa so much that he almost succumbed to motion sickness. Even the passengers in the opposite cable car were frightening to see their dangerous performance as they all stood up to see what was happening. In the film Yam Tat Wa led his fellow police in pursuit of the mad criminal Cheung Ka Fai. They began a cable car chase and even fought inside one. On the first ride on the cable car Cheung Ka Fai and Yam Tat Wa described the feeling as fresh, but Brother Wa had a little fear of heights. Thus on the cable car round trip shoot he felt a little dizzy. On the other hand Ka Fai faced off with Brother Wa in the cable car and daringly jumped inside the cable car without any fear. Although dangerous stunts were prohibited inside the car, due to the story Ka Fai was under the director's order to violate the rules. I don't do that." However he admitted that during the Lunar New Year he brought his sons on visits for laisee. Because he was rarely in Hong Kong, sometimes he did not want to go. His older son Lucas also asked him to stay in Hong Kong more. He explained that Papa has to work, luckily Lucas understood. He even praised Lucas for taking care of his brother Quintus and would not fight over toys. Once they hit their heads during play, Lucas ignored himself to take care of his brother right away. He was very touched to see that, but he did not understand Quintus had very little hard and a receding hair line. Did he see Pak Chi when he visited his sons? He said not every time. As for their rumored reunion, he said that he and Pak Chi had New Year dinner. He also dined with his parents and sister but not together. Nowadays divorces are very common, my sons would understand." He said that Lucas wants his parents to be together but mentions it only occasionally. This time with THE VIRAL FACTOR he wanted to open a toy gun store, but his mother objected. Did he need his mother's permission on everything including choosing a girlfriend? He said, "Choosing a girlfriend also need mother's nod." * (2012/02/06) Sammi Cheng Sau Man and Louis Koo Tin Lok yesterday attended their new film premiere in Beijing. Actually the most difficult scene was when Sammi went mad and ran into the forest. I had to carry her and deliver a very long lines. At that time my leg was just injured. It was deeply memorable." Sammi sweetly smiled on the stage and kept "whispering" to Goo Jai and Li Guangjie. When asked what she would recommend as a Valentine's Day gift. She awkwardly smiled and said, "I think I will give myself to him as a gift!" She directly caused a stir in the audience. Later she again said, "If in reality my husband vanishes like in the film, I wouldn't give up either. Even if I make a mess it's OK because I feel this is an expression of love." How would she encourage people who are still single? She said, "I need everyone's encouragement too! Single people don't be anxious, married ones don't be arrogant." Goo Jai also jokingly asked the host, "I am single too! If I encourage them, who encourages me?" In addition, playing Sammi's husband Li Guangjie said that he in the film actually played his wife's idol Koo Tin Lok. He seriously treated his own love. Did Goo Jai feel they resembled each other? Tse Kwan Ho talked about his experience of romancing the camera and performing on the stage; Ng Chin Yu revealed her first love and what she looks for in a mate. Film, television and stage triple threat Tse Kwan Ho said, "Making a movie is like romancing the camera. Performing on the stage is like at the starting line, as soon as the gun goes off you have to sprint!" While on stage, he was the most afraid of facing audience response. However this interactive relationship was also the attractive part of plays. With little news Tse Kwan Ho claimed to be a professional artist. He preferred to be more naive and did not like to create news. He said, "Being naive and playing the role well is enough! If things are made too complicated, you would feel you are not performing well." He also felt that whether in a film or a play he could not be self awared, otherwise he would lost his own characteristics. Thus gentle people should play evil characters. Ng Chin Yu was not the flower of her school, which she said might be because she often sunbathed. Few guys liked her and so far she has only dated once. He was English. "That was puppy love. Real dating is being a part of each other's lives, being able to know each other's friends and family. Yet he and I are too far apart!" Chin Yu thought Asian guys were more practical, they were not romantic enough. In addition they would not take the initiative with girls. They would only hint. Perhaps they felt they had more choices. However she felt that if she liked someone she should work hard at it. She reminded Hong Kong guys to work harder because many of her female friends have not dated yet. As for what she looked for in a mate, Chin Yu said, "Liking someone isn't because of her background or identity. Yang Mi earlier officially admitted her relationship with Harwick Lau Hoi Wai. However, she will spend this Valentine's Day at work. Jai Jai said, "Both female leads are so fortunate, I want to be too!" Jai Jai said that if he had the chance he would fight for happiness and joked that he wanted Yang Mi to introduce someone. Yang Mi said, "Why me?" Jai Jai complained, "My friend circle is small!" Still single, Jai Jai said that he had some cold humor. "On the last day of the Taiwan shoot Yang Mi and I told a lot of jokes!" In the film they played a couple. Did Jai Jai feel he was a good husband. He said, "I can be a good husband! I also hope to build a perfect family! However finding a suitable girlfriend is the most important, only then can I plan to wed!" As for box office pressure, he said that during the film's Lunar New Year Taiwan release, his nephew was moved to touch. Thus he was confident. Would he attend Ella's wedding? Jai Jai responded, "Has it been announced? I don't dare to say anything. Last time after promoting in Taiwan we said we didn't know when we would see each other again so we exchanged numbers. If she called to invite me I will attend!" In addition when asked why she did not perform live, Yang Mi stated that she was too nervous. Did she ask her boyfriend Lau Hoi Wai to support her? Yang Mi sweetly said, "Not yet! But I will urge him to watch!" * (2012/02/05) At a certain fashion label's spring and summer new fashion event at the Peak yesterday, guests had to tough out the cold and appeared in spring and summer clothing. Attending guests included Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin, Niki Chow Lai Kei, Jennifer Tse Ting Ting, Amanda S., Janice Man Wing Shan and others. Recently Janice Man has been linked to the film NIGHTFALL (DAI JUI BO)'s female assistant director. JM pointed out that they were just good friends. She had many same sex friends and would not evade. However this time she was rumored to be homosexual, which she was very interesting. She was not against homosexuality but she would not like girls. * (2012/02/05) Sammi Cheng Sau Man and Louis Koo Tin Lok yesterday promoted their film ROMANCING IN THIN AIR (GO HOI BUT JI LUEN II). Although they have been linked romantically in rumors when they worked together before, Sammi has already reunited with Andy Hui Chi On so they did not hold back at all. During games they made loving poses. In the film Sammi plays someone who was stubborn about love. Was she the same type in reality? She said, "I don't know, I have to experience it again. Yet I am very stubborn with work. I don't know about other areas." When someone made fun of her as giving people the impression that she was stubborn about love in real life, she finally spoke the truth. "Stubborn is a negative adjective, I am not stubborn." Goo Jai helped her and said that she was actually persistent. She said, "I am OK, I should work hard." As for film box office confidence, Sammi said that she already did all she could. She made a movie that she hoped everyone would like. After watching it she thought that it had touching spots and the feeling was light; Goo Jai said that romantic films did not need to be passionate, touching the soul was already enough. A friend told him that he wanted until after the credits to leave because she wanted to settle his emotions. Hui Chi On in an interview said that when he proposed he would use a soft drink tab as a ring. Sammi smiled without a reply; earlier she in a Mainland interview said that she had an urge to wed. She explained that in her 20's she indeed had the urge and believed that many girls in that age would fantasize about marriage, but now she has already passed that stage. Is happiness the most important now? She said, "Being together is the most important, even after marriage you should know how to be together." * (2012/02/04) The Michelle Yeoh (Yeung Chi King) starred THE LADY yesterday held a press conference. Yeung Chi King, French director Luc Besson and producer Viriginie Silla attended. Yeung Chi King said that before receiving the script she already wanted to play Aung San Suu Ki. Yeung Chi King said, "The hardest was the research, the shoot was very easy. When I arrived at the house I already treated myself like I was Aung San Suu Ki. David who played my husband and I had a lot of chemistry. Aung San is a good woman. She not only is a Myanmar hero but a world hero." Yeung Chi King said that she spent six months to learn Burmese. She said, "An actress has to do her homework. My character has to speak English, Burmese, and play the piano, so I hired instructors to learn from. Learning Burmese was truly very stressful. Before waking up I was already nervous enough to deliver the lines." Yeung Chi King said that seeing Aung San's release she was truly happy for her. She has been under house arrest and has not seen her mother in ten years already. Her release was an inspiring miracle. Yeung Chi King also was very happy to have the Thai government and kingdom's support to make this film. THE LADY took 13 months and before its release counterfeits already appeared. Director Luc Besson said, "For places that don't have cinemas, counterfeit isn't a problem, but in places like France and Hong Kong, everyone should go to the movies." * (2012/02/04) The Andy Lau Tak Wa, Zhang Jingchu, Lin Chiling, Dong Dawei starred treasure hunt film DWELLING IN THE FUCHUN MOUNTAINS is still in production. Earlier Zhang Jingchu celebrates her birthday and the team held a special birthday party for her. On a giant cake was the painting DWELLING IN THE FUCHUN MOUNTAINS, which was an enormous pleasant surprise for Zhang Jingchu as she broke into tears of joy. This was also the first time Zhang Jingchu worked after the Lunar new Year. That day, after an entire day of intense production, the team that has been "plotting in secret" for a long time suddenly brought red roses to Zhang Jingchu and sang the birthday song. Zhang Jingchu was beyond surprised. She laughed and cried as she carried the roses. Jingchu said, "Today through text messages, microblogs I receive many well wishes. Thank you everyone very much for caring about me. I never celebrate birthdays, but today I receive so many pleasant surprises! I truly appreciate the team for giving the warmest and the most touching birthday, for this warm and harmonious big family. I will work even harder on the shoot, let's go!" Zhang Jingchu even personally cut cakes for everyone on the team. During the shoot, in order to achieve the best result Zhang Jingchu soaked in the 4 to 5 degree Celsius lake water for almost half a hour. The team complimented Zhang Jingchu's professionalism. The film after completing the Hanghzou and Dubai shoots will head to Beijing. * (2012/02/04) Bianca Bai earlier attended the 2012 Taipei International Video Game exhibit. Bianca Bai attended as the spokesmodel. Also in attendance was child star Benny. Bai Bai and Benny recently worked together on the film NEW PERFECT TWO. This time they appeared in mother and son INCREDIBLES costumes. Benny was very happy to see Mama Bianca Bai who just returned from Thailand. An avid video game player, he was very excited to see all the video games. Benny said that next week school will start, he will not be able to play. Thus yesterday he played all he wanted. Bianca Bai and Benny's film NEW PERFECT TWO has performed well at the box office. NEW PERFECT TWO was based on PERFECT TWO, which made Siu Ben Ben a star. Director Kevin Chu Yen Ping even praised Benny's acting as he said to Siu Ben Ben, "Your son performs better than you." Benny lightly said, "If the acting is natural it's OK." * (2012/02/03) The film ROMANCING IN THIN AIR (GO HOI BUT JI LUEN II) last night held its premiere at the Sky 100. In attendance were Sammi Cheng Sau Man, Louis Koo Tin Lok, Wilfred Lau Ho Lung, directors Johnnie To Kei Fung and Wai Ka Fai. The venue was decorated mainly in white and spray with artificial snow, making it rather romantic. Playing a couple in the film Goo Jai and Sammi held hands as they appeared and posed for photos sweetly. Yet when her real significant other was mentioned, Sammi declined further discussion and again clarified that she had no plan to wed. Goo Jai and Sammi worked together again after eight years. He said that actually it was more than eight years. If they counted television series they have not worked together for over a decade. However because they knew each other for a long time they had a lot of chemistry. Sammi said that off screen her friendship with Goo Jai has already been elevated to another level. She also thought that Goo Jai has matured a lot. To Sir revealed that Goo Jai was very hairy and this time even worked with real facial hair. He truly was very manly. In the film Goo Jai played an all purpose artist, but he claimed in reality he was not. Although he has directed and sung, he did not know how to play the piano and write songs. In one scene he had to write a song for Sammi, he asked her for help. Goo Jai also said that in one scene he had to carry Sammi from a sea of tree. He happened to not feel well that day, so the shoot was both very tough and unforgettable. With Valentine's Day on the way, this film will be released on Valentine's Day. Sammi said that she will not be in Hong Kong that day. Has she prepared a gift for her boyfriend Andy Hui Chi On? She sweetly said, "I am not talking about this, let's just talk about the movie." Will she ask people to buy tickets? Sammi stated that she will not be in Hong Kong. How will Goo Jai spend Valentine's Day? He said that he will spend it with To Sir and joked, "Actually Christmas last year, this New Year's Day and Valentine's Day, Easter I will be with him. For the movie I can't do anything about it." In addition, Sammi and On Jai reportedly will wed in August. Earlier they even went bed shopping together. Sammi reiterated that she had no plan to wed and she did not want to respond again. That day they only passed by. Reportedly they went to buy a bed for sex. Sammi joked, "Wow! I am terrified, don't talk about this. Let's just be together for awhile." Will Goo Jai keep a low profile on his romance as well? He learned from Sammi and said, "Let's talk about the movie." Sammi heard and joked that he was mimicking her. * (2012/02/03) Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Shawn Yue Man Lok and director Pang Ho Cheung yesterday promoted their film LOVE IN THE BUFF (CHUN GIU YU JI MING) with a Mainland media interview. Chin Wa's birthday was on February 3, the crew prepared a birthday cake and gave her a pleasant surprise. Chin Wa immediately made a wish and cut the cake, but she did not reveal what the wish was. Carrying a dragon baby Chin Wa became the focus of the interview. When asked whether she liked a boy or a girl, she said it did not matter as she thought it being healthy would be the most important. She also said that she was very nervous about this film. As a workaholic, she would come out if she would be able to handle it. Ah Lok said that he felt like he was lied to because during the shoot Chin Wa kept saying she was busy. She had to work on the film, concert rehearsal and record promotion and said that she did not even have time to see her husband. He did not expect her to on the mark, her (pregnancy) accuracy was truly too high. Chin Wa explained that because her husband was young and they constantly exercised. Pang Ho Cheung humorously joked, "What kind of exercise?" Ah Lok added, "Where do you exercise?" Chin Wa cracked up. The director was asked whether he will make a movie about Chun Giu and Chi Ming as parents, Ah Lok said, "It should be made. We should shoot it now and save it so nothing is wasted." * (2012/02/03) The Doze Niu Chen-Zer directed new film LOVE will open next Friday. The film company two days ago first released a book. The director could not put the book down. LOVE will participate in this year's Berlin Film Festival Panorama segment, the director's second film to participate other than Monga. Niu Chen-Zer expected to go to Berlin with the cast on the 15th. So far only Mark Chao (Chiu Yau Ting) has been confirmed. Ethan Juan due to military service could not attend. Actresses Ivy Chen, Amber Kuo, Vicki Zhao Wei, Shu Qi and others were still in negotiation. The director hoped for Zhao Wei and Shu Qi to be able to attend the most. Yuen King Tin earlier finally reported for military service. The director was very happy for him, but his heart also ached for all the pressure that Siu Tin had to endure during this period. Siu Tin was accused of "dodging service", the director again clarified for Siu Tin and said that Siu Tin had no way to decide his reporting date. Siu Tin earlier said that his girlfriend Tiffany Hsu due to work could not see him off, but later reportedly his girlfriend was waiting in the car in advance and they went to Taichung together. Some even said that Siu Tin's car drove straight into the military camp and he was again under suspicion of special privilege. Later the military said that everything was applied for according to rules, the arrangement was made only because the military did not want Yuen King Tin to be the target of the media. In addition, all reporting men must leave their vehicles at the gate, have their temperature take to confirm that they did not have a fever before they walked into the camp. Siu Tin however did not do so; the military reiterated that Yuen King Tin's car occupants were already confirmed in the camp, the car was permitted to enter to avoid a media circus. * (2012/02/03) Meg Lam Kin Ming appeared on a Cable Entertainment News station program interview. Because host Wong Man Ling has been a good friend for many years, Big Sister Ming did not hold back as she talked about everything from family tragedy, show business career rises and falls and depression. Big Sister Ming revealed that while she was ill she lost all motivation. She slept all day, did not brush her teeth or bathe. She even thought about suicide but did not have the motivation to die. Finally she went to sleep again. Later she went for treatment and the doctor said that she was lucky. If she had a little motivation she would be dead already. Big Sister Ming's older brother had schizophrenia, which acted up in his 20's. She felt very guilty and blamed herself when she mentioned her older brother. She asked herself whether she did not treat him well and made her suffer. She was coughed up as she said, "Mama only has one son, she loved him very much. No one ever thought he would be like this." As for joining show business, Big Sister Ming said that the goal was clear. Before graduation she already thought about joining show business. She said, "Because of my family background, I knew I wouldn't continue with school. Thus as soon as I graduated I tried for the TVB artist training class. Finally (Alexander) Fu Sing, Mai Shuet (Michelle Yim) and I became Shaw interns." After a year of training class, Shaw did not sign a contract with Big Sister Ming. She went to try her luck at RTV, which even invited her to participated in the "Miss Beach pageant". She ended up winning and rapidly became a series lead with Damien Lau Chung Yun. Yet Big Sister Ming could not adjust to the "one take straight" television production. After playing the female lead once she was set aside. She continued to joked that she was not even "two against seven", only "three against seven". At the time someone asked her to shave her head for a movie, she agreed right away. The film became a big hit, as its Thailand box office even exceeded Bruce Lee's film. Big Sister Ming admitted, "After completing the film, I could immediately buy a home and take care of my family." Big Sister Ming's Great White Shark character from ENJOY YOURSELF TONIGHT was memorable, but actually at first she hated this character. "Wow! I had to play Chik Mei Chun's Ma, I was very mad; I deliberately turned myself from the best into the ugliest. I had a great figure, so I wore a turtleneck. My eyes were pretty so I wore glasses." * (2012/02/03) Angelababy and Mark Chao (Chiu Yau Ting)'s film FIRST TIME wrapped before the Lunar New Year. They not only had a kiss scene in the film but also her first bed scene. However Baby stressed that the kiss scene and the bed scene were all innocent. Baby said, "Earlier I heard (Stephen) Fung Tak Lun said that once he was in a kiss scene with an actress and she actually stuck her tongue in. Thus I was very curious whether a kiss needed to be tongue on tongue? Yet this year with Chiu Yau Ting only our lips touched, it wasn't so passionate." Could Baby accept tongue on tongue? She said that would depend on the co-star and the script. As for who she would be willing to perform with, she said that she never thought about it. However, since she has not performed many kiss scenes, she did not know about proper oral hygiene before the shoot. When she worked with Chiu Yau Ting she saw him brushing his teeth, then she realized that she overlooked it and felt that Chiu Yau Ting respected his co-star very much. At first she thought Chiu Yau Ting was very serious, later after awhile together he actually was very easy going. Once his father visited the set and she thought Father Chao was very handsome. Did Baby inform her rumored boyfriend Huang Xiaoming in advance about the kiss scene? She said that since both were in this business, when he had an intimate scene he would not notify her either. They knew to keep work and life separate and understood each other. In the Lunar New Year, her manager will try to shake off her pseudo model image. She joked that she was no longer "young" anyway. She will mainly focus on making movies in the upcoming year. Last year she worked all year and only had ten days off, but at the same time it was a harvest year. She even considered home ownership and purchased her current residence. Of course she would like to buy a house in the end. Baby also considered getting her driver's license for the convenience of her film productions, but she failed the written test earlier and had to try again. Her manager suggested for her to try it in the U.S. * (2012/02/02) The Sammi Cheng Sau Man and Louis Koo Tin Lok starred ROMANCING IN THIN AIR (GO HOI BUT JI LUEN II) will premiere tonight and be officially released on February 9. Yesterday Sammi and director Johnnie To Kei Fung and Wai Ka Fai conducted a Mainland media interview. Speaking of marriage, Sammi admitted that for now she had no wedding plan and said that she has already passed the age when she would panic about marriage. She also said that during the shoot although being in high altitude was very tough, her boyfriend Andy Hui Chi On kept encouraging her. Sammi, To Sir and Wai Ka Fai accepted the interview. In the film Sammi was more sensible about love. Was she the same way in reality? She said, "Very sensible? Actually he and I in not so public places would be like an average couple. If I need his opinion we would very sensibly chat." She also said that now she would not throw tantrums, perhaps because she was out of temper. She said, "The Lord absolutely wouldn't let me explode, which is an enormous change since my depression. He benefits a lot from that." Has her elders rushed her to marry? She said, "So far I don't have any plan, maybe the Hong Kong media are more anxious for me at my age, but I have already passed the age of panic. I have already gone from very anxious to not anxious. My family is rather relaxed because at least I am dating." She also joked that she was thick skinned so in the Lunar New Year she still accepted red pockets. On Valentine's Day will she watch this movie with On Jai? She said that she would not be in Hong Kong then, he might go with his friends! However during the shoot she kept sharing her thoughts with him. Two nights ago after the screening she shared with him as well. He always encouraged her, telling her not to be too stressed and not to carry all the burden. Thus now she could be more relaxed with the result. Sammi also revealed that after completing two weeks of promotion she will fulfill a dream of charity. Last year she went to teach English in the Yunnan mountain region elementary school with two friends, which she thought was very meaningful and missed such visits. This year she will go elsewhere but this time she will not teach. Speaking of her good friend Andy Lau Tak Wa's impending fatherhood, she said, "I sent him a text message to congratulate him because this is his dream. After spending so much time on his show business career and art, now it is the time to truly enjoy life. I believe his daughter will definitely be very beautiful." In addition, Wai Ka Fai and To Kei Fung have worked together on many classic romantic films. They felt that they made too many city films before so this time they deliberately went far away from the city. Wai Ka Fai said that during the shoot he was worried. Because of the high altitude, during location scouting he had quite a headache. The location was very pretty though, so after returning he and To Sir still decided to shoot in Yunnan. To Sir even praised Sammi's performance. He said, "I am very satisfied with her performance. She is more mature than before, her acting is much better too." * (2012/02/02) After success at several overseas film festivals, the Ann Hui On Wa directed, Andy Lau Tak Wa and Deanie Ip Tak Han starred A SIMPLE LIFE (TOH JEH) has been scheduled for a March 9 release. Last year on Wa Jai's first day on the set, they shot on location at a Sham Shui Po senior home. Seniors there might be up there in age but were very smart. As soon as Wai Jai appeared, they asked with suspicion whether he was Lau Tak Wa. Wa Jai responded with a smile, 'I am Lau Tak Wa!" When they learned that Wa Jai came to make a movie, the seniors refused to nap as they wanted to watch the shoot. The entire senior home became cheerful, Wa Jai even hummed Cantonese Opera for this group of smart fans. At the senior home Wa Jai could not help but joked, "Having an elder at home is like having a treasure. In front of me then are many treasures. Actually before shooting at the senior home, I worried whether I would disturb their lives. I was afraid that I would affect their rest. However now I can relax, actually most of them are very active." In the film the senior home boss Anthony Wong Chau Sun and supervisor Kung Shuet Fa also brought the seniors a lot of joy. With an eye patch over his left eye and a long coat that resembled Mark Gor, Chau Sun joked with Wa Jai, "My costume is truly inspired. Earlier when I went to the costume fitting, for fun I put on black nail polish. Ann thought the look could have a little fun and finally put black nail polish on all my fingers. When I went home I picked out a long coat to match and added to the boss' might. Then today I come to work I realize my left eye is infected. I was inspired and put on a eye patch to cover the red eye. Thus this cyclops boss look is born, pretty yet easy on the eye? Ha!" Wa Jai also joked that only Chau Sun would be able to pull the look off, as he made an interesting pair with his employee Kung Shuet Fa. When Kung Shuet Fa worked with Wa Jai, she often mispronounced her lines due to her less than fluent accent. She made "undocumented South Asian Person" sound like "straw shaking blue tear pervert" and cracked up the entire set. Aunt Fa said that she knew her acting was no match for Best Actors Wa Jai and Chau Sun, but she was fortunate enough to have the rare chance to work with them and Hui On Wa. She was used to getting up early to watch the stock market open so the early call was not hard for her. She even attentively asked her maid to make red bean dessert for the team. * (2012/02/02) Chapman To Man Jat and Fiona Sit Hoi Kei yesterday were interviewed to promote their upcoming film release in Kowloon Bay. Reportedly Fiona's father had heart problem and needed her to raise money for medical treatment. She said, "During the Lunar New Year I haven't thought about talking about my family like news." She reiterated that she only sold song and movies, thus her family was off limits. "I don't feel I need to respond, ultimately I won't talk about my family. I will work hard." [ BLAH OF THE WEEK ] Columns, Reviews, Interviews 1. MING PAO DAILY, FEBRUARY 5 2012, FILM WORDS As for "Taiwan Wong Jing" Kevin Chu Yen Ping's NEW PERFECT TWO (SUN TIN SUN YUT DUI), it is a motorcycle rider father and son comedy with Vic Chou Yu man, Ella Chen and Mini Yang Mi. A remake of the Chu Yen Ping film in the 80s, it also somewhat resembles Johnnie To Kei Fung's old film ALL ABOUT AH LONG (AH LONG DIK GOO SI). Nice and relaxed with fights, arguments and melodrama, the film quality is just average. Unless you are a fan of those "idols", you would feel somewhat bored. (Two out of Five Stars) - SHEK KEI 2. APPLE DAILY, FEBRUARY 4 2012, ELECTRIC FILM ROAD LOUIS KOO AND SAMMI CHENG: LOVE TRAPPED IN A SEA OF TREES Since the 2003 films GOOD TIMES, BED TIMES (LUEN SEUNG NEI DIK CHONG) and LOVE FOR ALL SEASONS (BAK NIN HO HUP), Louis Koo Tin Lok and Sammi Cheng Sau Man has not appeared together on the silver screen for 8 years already. Goo Jai and Sammi chase each other to a hot spring outside the inn, with an exhausted Goo Jai collapsing into the pool. Sammi behind him keeps dragging Goo Jai up while screaming "Hubby hubby". 3. Drunk Driving Wreck Although her husband Siu Tin has vanished in the sea of trees for years during a rescue, Sammi still has not accepted his death. She keeps everything the way Siu Tin left them in the inn, from the off key piano to the motorcycle and truck. When Koo Tin Lok breaks the piano and wrecks the truck while drunk, Sammi asks them to be repaired to their original condition. Seemingly she is still living in the past. 4. Life Risking Rescue After years without her husband Siu Tin's news, with Goo Jai's appearance Sammi who has been living in memories and once was a Goo Jai fan suddenly has a fantasy. Conflicted she decides to go into the sea of trees alone to shake off her romantic disturbance. Goo Jai finds out and risks his life to look for Sammi in the sea of trees. Once heavily favored by the Emperor, the Guillotines are deemed expendable once Emperor Qian Long ascends to the throne and adopts Western ideas and technology. To consolidate his power under a new regime, the Emperor continues to use the Guillotines to persecute the conquered Han Chinese in a reign of terror and oppression. Led by master fighter Leng, the top ranked guillotine squad consists of five young warriors: Mu, San, Tai, Hutu and Buka. Serving the Qing Court unquestioningly, they have never failed in 348 missions to eliminate their targets. But their success has made them arrogant and complacent. Their next mission is to eliminate Wolf and his Shepherd gang. During the operation, the squad manages to trap Wolf. Not every love story is a fairy tale. After a dramatic wedding feast, unusual love stories unfold towards unexpected endings: a brother and sister in love caught by the mother, a married painter falls for his young life drawing model of same sex, an intimacy between a dance school teacher and his wealthy but senior student, a lesbian couple of which one has role-play paranoid, a dreadful love triangle ending with the girl being beheaded… "Love Actually…Sucks!" celebrates love that no one care but real, for life is love, love as it is. [ PHILADELPHIA QFEST ] Taking inspiration from six different court cases involving crimes of the heart, Scud examines the intense, often self-destructive sexual longings among several well-to-do young Hong Kong residents – gay, lesbian and straight. The film opens with the most scandalous wedding reception ever put on film: a young couple’s marriage ends (in the most dramatic fashion) before it begins. There is the 30-ish married gym instructor who trolls the active bathroom scene for young flesh; a lesbian couple with roleplay issues; a dance instructor who becomes the object of attraction to his much older student; a married painter who falls for his male model; a brother and sister who take family togetherness a bit too literally; and a young man who becomes increasingly deranged until he takes his love interest problems into his own hands. In Scud’s world, every love story is a fairy tale – but here the stories are sexual and troubling. Overall, a complex, sensual and compelling film. Free. All seating is first-come, first served. Doors open at 6:30pm. UPCOMING MOVIES Series 1: Jang Hun Plus One! Jang Hun started out as an assistant director to Kim Ki-Duk, but with his first film, Rough Cut, he established himself as Korea’s answer to Steven Soderbergh: a director making big budget movies with an independent sensibility. Rough Cut, and Secret Reunion, The Frontline have all become massive box office hits without making an compromises or talking down to their audiences. To round out the trio of movies in this mini-retrospective, we’re including White Night, another crime film that transforms itself into something dark, glittering and truly amazing. Tuesday, February 28, 2012 @ 7pm WHITE NIGHT (2009, 135 minutes, North American Premiere) White Night is a sprawling, evil epic about an unsolved crime that happened 14 years previously that has spilled its poison out over the subsequent years. Based on a best-selling Japanese novel, and featuring a riveting performance by Go Soo, star of The Frontline, director Park Shin-Woo turns this movie into a slick, beautifully realized film about true evil, as a detective refuses to let go of this single case, instead insisting on following its threads for years no matter where they lead. And where they lead is dark and truly shocking. This hit film has been called the best Korean film of 2009 by several critics and once you’ve seen it, it’s hard to forget. Wednesday, February 15, 2012 @ 7pm SECRET REUNION (2010, 116 minutes) Two of Korea’s best actors face off in this blockbuster action flick that manages to be sly, subversive and really funny while delivering white knuckle thrills. Song Kang-Ho (The Host) is a South Korean secret agent who fumbles a sting operation on a North Korean spy. Pop star Gang Dong-Won (Haunters) is the North Korean assassin who has been embedded in the South. After the botched operation, both men are cut loose by their respective agencies and Song becomes a private eye, while Gang sinks into deep cover, trying to survive long enough to go home. Years later, they cross paths and what audiences are treated to is a buddy movie to end all buddy movies.
