In 1990, out of 1,000 top corporations of the country, 343 are based here. At least 57 of the Philippines top 1,000 corporations are found in the town. 84% of the country's private commercial banks, and 9 out of 10 largest life insurance companies have their head offices in Makati. 46 of the 56 embassies and consultancies are located here. Travel bureaus, airline offices, advertising and design agencies abound in the city. The Makati Stock Exchange is considered as one of Asia's finest and most modern exchanges. The Sts. Peter and Paul Church located at Barangay Poblacion of Makati City built in 1620:

The American Cemetery and Memorial is located within the Ft. Bonifacio Army Reservation. It is one of the loveliest and serene spots that inspire noble emotions in the whole Philippines. Significant battles of World War II are engraved on the walls of the Memorial. Military data and battles that actually happened are depicted and recorded in the map rooms, with 25 intricately designed maps, and in the battle museum in glass mosaic mixed with tinted concrete and colored fine aggregates. Completed in 1960, architect and landscape designer Gardner A. Daly of San Francisco, U.S.A. took pains in keeping its park-like setting perpetually green and abloom. The following is from the nearby Libingan ng mga Bayani, the burial ground of 33,520 Filipino soldiers who were killed in Bataan, Corregidor, and throughout the country during the Second World War. In it is the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
