A young mayor "Benhur" Benjamin C. Abalos Jr, born 1962, and the modern junction of EDSA-Ortigas Avenues, with Robinson Shopping Complex at the corner, and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Mega Mall to the south:

SM Megamall at EDSA corner Do鎙 Julia Vargas Avenue is Asia's largest, with over 400 shops, restaurants, theatres, amusement places, sporting salons, specialty schools, clinics, etc.

The Shangri-La Plaza at EDSA Shaw Boulevard (Northeast corner) Home of Rustan's and Crossings department stores and over 300 specialty shops. Designer clothes, jewelry, houseware, officeware, food shops, cinemas, etc. A 658-room resort hotel just a walk away from major shopping complexes; features ballroom for 1,400 guests, 14 function rooms, business centre, health club, pool, tennis courts, 3 restaurants, coffee shop and bar. This was the site of the 1999 EROPA World Conference of Governance

The Mandaluyong City Police Department is composed of 24 commissioned officers, 213 non-commissioned officers, and 20 non-uniformed personnel.

The Mandaluyong City Fire Department is comprised of 2 commissioned officers, 79 non-commissioned officers, and 8 civilian employees.
